Metal Man (GM): Introduction. The Questers had landed on Opus. They needed some repairs for their ship's "Time Engine", which required some sketchy searching for a vendor who would work for minimum cash. They found one, at the shop where Lincoln works. He claimed the other shop, the Invision Group, were busy bogarding all of the business and most likely up to no good. He suggested the Questers go deal with them; if they could do that, then he could fix their ship. The Questers are currently on the Wing Fortress, having regrouped. Some snow is about and has helped hide the Wing Fortress a bit better. Though it is a bit cold inside, due to the... lack of amenities. Continuatio.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Is in the bridge, contemplating* "Hmmmm... I think now's about a good time if we want to knock over those Invision people. They have less stuff going on now than otherwise."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier has somehow gotten a copy of the display the shopkeeper has onto his oscilloscopes and broken "Tony" brand TVs he has set up in the Bridge.
Gelato: *He's at Xavier's feet, eating from an extremely dented, banged-up, and otherwise destroyed can of ham.*
Nonna: *Sitting in a seat quietly thinking about their options. Lincoln's lack of concern at the idea of being held responsible for their actions against the Invision Group bothered her, despite what the others said.*
Valron: "What've you got in mind, then?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We can either enter through the front and try to out-muscle the hired help they've got guarding it, or try to climb a rather perilous looking slick back wall and break into some armored looking window thing and sneak in from above."
Valron: "Climbing, huh...? Not exactly all that good at climbin' up things, myself."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I have metal hands, so I can reach through solid granite. But I'm also rather heavy, so if I fall... ...bad things happen. These people don't really look up to the standard we have as Questers. I bet we can probably take 'em. They have cute little batons and outfits. We just have the ability to bulldoze them. Kill or just incapacitate them, doesn't matter..."
Valron: "Well, as long as we aren't careless, I'm sure that wouldn't be too rough."
Nonna: "I can fly."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, she can fly. There's bound to be something useful we can do with that." *Randomly picks up Gelato* "I swear somewhere in the dragon instruction manual there was a button for wings..."
Gelato: *Urp.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Of course I could take out my CAC and just land it atop their place while it's cloaked..."
Valron: "So can I, but I doubt I'll have the... clearance for it, depending on how cluttered the whole city is." *He motions to his wings.* "And I'm sure seeing two people flying up to a particular spot in a building is bound to raise a red flag or two..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now that I think of it, why didn't I think of that earlier?"
Valron: "Yeah, but isn't that thing also impossible to drive properly?"
Commander Borne: "Yes, generally it changes layout to suit the season and location, followed by crashing into everything."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Bah, nobody will be able to see it at least!"
Commander Borne: "Destroying property might be fun until they figure out the dents look a lot like a one-of-a-kind-vehicle they could reason only we are insane enough to possess."
Valron: "I'm surprised it hasn't changed to a layout that's made a vague hint of sense once."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "There was that one time inside the cave over the underwater waterfall... ...but I actually wanted to drive over that waterfall..."
Nonna: "Is it possible to create a diversion and fly in while most of their guards and cameras are pointing elsewhere?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Diversion... yes. I am a giant diversion. They know who I am, and don't know yet you're associated with me, per se. We haven't been parading ourselves around together. SO if I dramatically land in front of their shop and start shooting the windows out, you know they'll all come after me and not even know who you are."
Valron: "Handy."
Gelato: *He promptly inhales deeply and flies out of Xavier's hands, flapping his legs like Kirby.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I have some Best of the 90's music CDs I've been wanting to embed into somebody's skull."
Commander Borne: *Shrugs* "They let him do this sort of nonsense hundreds of times, as long as he doesn't do anything above petty vandalism and assault he can probably pay the crooked people's fines. You'll just have to be quick about it or disavow him, so they don't realize it's a conspiracy to break in rather than a coincidence."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'd suggest Borne here get involved, but like Illian, Borne isn't necessarily very stealthy."
Nonna checks her Omni-Disguise.
Commander Borne: "Well, I am, but I already killed about 20 thugs on the way back here."
Valron: "Yeah, that... kinda ruins the surprise."
Commander Borne: "All self defense. The videos I provided caused the local police to shrug."
Gelato: :I *He promptly flaps his way over to Borne's shoulder, landing and exhaling.*
Commander Borne: "They said 'more desperate hobos trying to scalp a robot--'" *Glances over and pets Gelato.*
Valron: "Of course. That, and it's their own damned fault for trying to go after you, anyways."
Commander Borne: "Seems the robots here are stupid, so they usually can steal them. I'm going to remain in the background in case something goes pear shaped."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "And Illian?"
Commander Borne: "Since we don't want the entire place destroyed, we're not involving him."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...True enough."
Valron: "Fair."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So that leaves you guys..."
Nonna: "Are you able to hack into the camera system to make sure they aren't going to see us coming?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Can I hack it? Not very we--"
Commander Borne: "Yes, I can. I reverse engineered it earlier in our visit so we could break into it. That's why you see it on the Bridge."
Valron: "Well, good to see there's a proper answer to that. Thanks."
Commander Borne: "I'll replay some algorithmically made footage that resembles what should be there, with you and any other problem aspects edited out in real-time."
Nonna: "I think we're set, then."
Commander Borne: "It's a real lame system. Normally I couldn't do this but they don't even know what encryption is."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's intentional, this place is so corrupt they shot the last guy who tried to make the security 'work.'"
Valron: "I think that's... intention- Yeah. So, it's a feature, not a bug."
Commander Borne: "Right... appease corporations, but not enough for anyone who knows what they're doing."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... you guys sneaking in through the front while I set things on fire, or going to climb up the back? Just so I know where is best for me to make a scene."
Nonna: "What do you think, Valron?"
Valron: "Whichever works. While I'm just as fine with breaking through the front, if we can actually make it up the back without too much of a hassle, then I'd much rather prefer that."
Nonna: "I'd prefer a quiet and quick in-and-out myself, but... we won't know what's possible until we get on the ground. Do we have any blueprints for the building?"
Commander Borne: "The publicly available ones are rather slipshod. The window is three stories up. It has an open front area with the glass windows on one side of the building. It has a locked ID'd side door. That's about all we know, even from just looking at it."
Gelato: "Pthhbt."
Nonna: "The fewer bodies, the better. We just need the evidence to get the company in trouble and financially cripple them, right?"
Valron: "That's one way of going about it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I also will need to ask. Gelato, will you be going with them to assist them? I... should be alright just taunting their people. They don't want to leave the store, see... that'd make their already bad situation worse. Plus it's me, so they're liable to hunker down and wait for me to break in. At least until they discover I'm not coming in..."
Nonna: "Let's hope Lincoln was being honest."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Nobody tends to be fully honest. If he isn't... ...then we should probably go talk to those Invision people about rectifying the situation. In every case there's a liar, there's usually somebody else we can talk to instead. Plus they'll think all the evil was done by me--which is normal here--so they won't suspect you if you don't do anything too obvious."
Gelato: *He hops to Valron's shoulder, chirping.*
Valron: "And if it just happens everyone's a sack of terrible?"
Commander Borne: "Ah, you mean like Alsa." *He grins grimly.* "Then there's nothing to stop us from blowing them up and forcing the less horrible people to reform."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Granted, this place is more of a mixed bag. Nobody's gonna be great. But the most horrible people tend to make too many enemies."
Valron: "Fair, fair."
Commander Borne: "To our benefit, the outer worlds have bred more... averageness into things."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What that means in English is that if you're too extreme, people will just hunt you down and kill you."
Valron: "Oh, so it's more sensible, then."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Unless you're... well, some of our favorite enemies, but those people have to keep a low key appearance. Even the Time Cops don't get too spicy... At least, they don't do it out in the open. Sloan, Lyx, others are out there, but if they strike, it won't be as long as we're close to civilization that's considered high tech. Too many people taking selfies amid the wreckage and reporting on the effects of their behavior on local politics. There's other groups than Time Cops who may not have as wide a reign, but can and will fly across the universe to rub out supervillains who they perceive as having gone too far... ...Which by the way, not all of those are nice, so we might have to dismantle a few as we get closer to the heavily inhabited areas of the universe."
Valron: "Handy. Maybe we should keep in touch with some of those groups once we have the chance to."
Violet: "If the Time Cops are in Invision's pockets?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well the Time Cops are already our enemies, so..."
Valron: "Well, the less nasty groups, in any case."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We just have to... kill Time Cops... again... they aren't even really real Time Cops, anyway. We stole that from them... it's just time hasn't caught up yet. The people on this planet may just be fast food employees who sell parts to real Time Cops, nothing more."
Nonna: "In case all else fails... Plan B: Smash and grab the parts, get the hell out before anyone can respond. Sound good?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, that's my way of doing things, so I won't have any problem."
Valron: "Well, just as long as we kick Invision's teeth in well enough."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'll also be sure to attract any other enemies we might have out in the open... So if there ARE any of those nasties hiding out here, I'll give you a good warning as I run from whatever ungodly superweapon they decide to use against me in broad daylight." *Coughs* "Some of our enemies happen to spend their time running from the good guys, after all, so they could always show up... ...Anyway... we should probably get this going before the quiet time dies down. Don't want to hit too many civilians..."
Valron: "And then we could maybe ask the good guys for help getting properly situated if they happen to show up. Maybe. Who knows?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It is true. We'll probably make some contacts with the good guys as we go. We'll need it further in, because any action like this in the civilized zone generally turns into a big turf war between outsiders and insiders. So whoever we need to knock over over there, we'll need to be ready to fight a miniature war just to get in the door..."
Commander Borne: "Or just stealth in."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, we can probably do that."
Valron: "If we can manage it."
Nonna: "Agreed. We should try the stealthy approach first; we can always go for plan B is it doesn't work out. Well... if everyone's okay with that, anyway."
Gelato: "Squee!"
Valron: "I'm all for it, though my follow-up usually tends to be swift devastation. Where applicable, of course."
KitRedgrave: "Sounds like a plan to me. We'll work out the details as we go."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Nods.*
Metal Man (GM): The ship opens, granting you the means to exit back into the city on Opus.
KitRedgrave: "Okay, before we go -- do we have a secure way of communicating?" *She would ask this in the space of time we get before go-time.*
Commander Borne: "If you don't have it already..." *Hands Kit the black-box communicator* "I wouldn't trust the dexes for 'secure comm--"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I shoehorned in a proper protocol for that!"
KitRedgrave nods, looking at the communicator and trying to figure out how to use it.
Commander Borne: "--I guess you can use a dex if you want, but..."
Metal Man (GM): It just has a single button. Press to talk, basically.
Valron: "My visor's comms should be sufficiently secure."
Metal Man (GM): And a keyboard, if you should want to 'text' things.
KitRedgrave: "Thank you. Then I guess we go from here. Though before we go... I could disguise us, if we need it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'll still use my dex." *Holds out an ancient box that has 'SUPER SMASH MELEE QUESTER OFFICIAL SMASH DEX' in really badly faded comic sans text.*
Valron: "That is... actually a good idea. Don't see any real reason not to."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm going to remain cognito, because the entire idea is they run in terror from me. Or run towards me. Or both, while on fire."
Commander Borne: "Although I have a giant magnet prepared if we need to get him out of there in a hurry."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You do?"
Commander Borne: "...It was originally there because I didn't want to get stuck at the bottom of an ocean like that Metal Sonic beast did on Alsa."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah."
KitRedgrave: "Okay, let me do that then. Any particular preference?"
Valron: "No particular preferences. So long as it doesn't clash horribly with everyone else, of course."
Commander Borne: "I might suggest you use the hours and hours of security footage we stole to make them look like the generally drab winter clothed people I keep seeing on this planet."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Nah, man. Let's make them look like Aetos... and Scott Fender... and Alexia... ...Just kidding."
Commander Borne: "You can summon ghostly versions of Aetos if you really want to, Xavier."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You first."
KitRedgrave: "Okay..." *She looks at some frames of the footage on her Smash Dex.* "I see."
Valron: "If we're going to summon Aetos ghosts, then lets' only do that for the sake of target practice."
KitRedgrave: "Though I have no idea how I'm gonna get Gelato to look different."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You could always make him resemble... uhhhh... ...some sort of normal pet?"
KitRedgrave: "Unless we make him a puppy or something."
Nonna: "Same, but covered with fake snow?"
KitRedgrave: "Fake snow? I don't really see the trick there."
Valron: "I was thinking of making him into a normal pet as well, yeah. Seems like it'd be the most logical extension for a disguise."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "While you guys get ready for that, I'm going to get a good spot set up to start crashing their party." *Xavier takes out his golf club and lights it on fire, then strides outside.*
KitRedgrave: "I guess, we can drop it if things go wrong. Was just thinking it'd be a little hard for him to do anything looking like that."
Commander Borne: "The magic will just glitch out whenever he does anything too weird... and I believe by that time you should be out of public view."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier can be seen wandering through the streets, causing some people to stare at him and other people to run away.
KitRedgrave: "Okay. Let's do it then."
Metal Man (GM): A random person stops him on the street and he talks to them, then continues walking. The way is clear for you to go and walk; with the snow everywhere, you can get in without being seen as having come from the Wing Fortress.
KitRedgrave would go and disguise everyone looking just like your average dog and average NPC nobodies as soon as we can look like we're not coming from the Wing Fortress.
Metal Man (GM): Easily done; the way to the town is trenches deep in the snow, and the Wing Fortress one ends shortly outside of it and joins into some other trenches.
Gelato: *Pant pant pant pant.*
Valron: *He idly hums to himself as he walks around, looking as inconspicuous as possible.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd get near the building, and soon notice Xavier with a bunch of mailboxes he dragged into the street.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It is I! The Time Bandit! I declare war on glass windows!"
Metal Man (GM): He shoots a bunch of windows out, and people run away. You can choose to go for the front or the back; people are all staring at Xavier. The people inside seem to be hiding behind counters. One of them gestures at Xavier with a baton.
Invision Guard: "Hey! Hey! You can't break that!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I can break everything!"
Invision Guard: *Sigh* "This is why I didn't want the late shift..."
Nonna: *Looking at the others for a sign that an entry point had been decided on.*
Metal Man (GM): I'll wait at this point for your move. There's some back alleys you can go through to try and get behind the building, or you can try a different one to try and go in through the front...
Valron: *He glances about for a second, before looking at the others. He motions over to the back entrance, pondering if they feel like trying to go in through that way.*
Gelato: *Nodnod.*
Nonna: *Nods.*
KitRedgrave would inconspicuously nod to agree to it and head that way as if they really belonged there.
Valron: *He gives a nod of his own, before making his way over to the back alleys, following Kit along.*
Nonna does the same, really.
Metal Man (GM): You'd wander into the back alleys. You'd see some homeless people and maybe thugs. They would normally probably accost you, but the sound of Xavier lighting fireworks off at the front of the building, they seem unlikely to risk hitting strangers. The back alley has... a dumpster, an iron sealed window at the third floor, and a random guy smoking a cigarette. The man hasn't seen you yet. He has some black shawl on, and seems to be busy staring at the sky. You can distantly hear the sound of Xavier shooting a CD into the side of a brick wall out front. Aye. Just waiting for whoever wishes to start us off here.
Gelato: *He peers towards the window.*
Metal Man (GM): The iron window up at the top has some rusted bolts attached to it.
Nonna looks to the man and then to the window, and back again. *Then looks to Gelato, and gets an idea.*
Metal Man (GM): The man seems to be fairly out of it, or at least not really caring about what's going on, but all the same he's still there...
Nonna motions for Gelato to get close.
Gelato: *He creeps up.*
Valron: *He glances over at the two, lightly cocking a brow for a moment, curious as to what they have in mind.*
Nonna: *Whispering* "I think he likes the shawl. Try to snag it from him and get him to chase you; lose him in the chaos and we'll have the window open by the time you get back."
Gelato: *He wiggles, then pounces at the man!*
Man: "Bwa?!"
Metal Man (GM): You catch him by surprise, knocking him over.
Man: "..." *He runs after Gelato, shaking his fist.* "Get back here, you mutt! That's mine!"
Nonna: (Once the man's out of earshot) "Okay, let's do it."
Valron: "...Nice. Now, let's see..." *He glances over at the dumpster, checking to see how big it is.* "Maybe we can get the dumpster up against the wall. You know, help make the climb a little easier?"
KitRedgrave: "...How many of us need to actually climb?"
Valron: "Instead of starting from the bottom, well... You'd have something to start on top of, at least." *He then glances over to Kit.* "I can fly, though, ah. I doubt I'd have the clearance needed to manage it in the middle of an alley."
Metal Man (GM): The dumpster is 5 feet tall, 7 feet wide, 4 feet deep.
Nonna: "Want to break in quiet, or loud?"
Metal Man (GM): There aren't many other windows here, and if you don't climb, you might require some other means of getting inside...
Valron: "...How are we even going to get that opened up, anyways?"
Nonna: "We could fly in, blow it open, and unlock the side door from the inside."
Valron: "...Why do we need the side door opened, again? Easy way out?"
Nonna: "And to allow people who can't climb or fly inside. We'll have to decide quickly."
Metal Man (GM): More noise occurs out front, as Gelato rejoins the group.
KitRedgrave: "Let's do it then!"
Violet takes flight to reach the window.
Metal Man (GM): The window rattles a bit as you reach it. It's bolted on with iron bolts... into concrete. Not the best construction.
Nonna examines the iron and bolts more closely. Rather flimsy?
Gelato: *He simply walks right up the side of the building to the window.*
KitRedgrave would also make her way up there, quickly.
Nonna: "Tell Xavier to be extra loud for a minute."
Metal Man (GM): Seems like you could rip it out quickly and loudly, or try to carefully slide it out and take more time.
Valron: "Right. Why the side door, again? Just to have an easy exit, or...?"
Nonna: "You can't fly in these cramped conditions, right? So an easy way in from the ground, as well as a way out."
Valron: "Ah, fair. Thank you for that consideration."
Nonna: "Xavier needs to be extra loud for a bit so it can mask our breaking in."
Metal Man (GM): Currently, Xavier seems to be simply padding out his disruption out front. You can hear him telling the Invision people about all the enemies he fought while throwing cans of soda at them.
Gelato: *He starts nibbling at those bolts...*
Nonna gets to work on them, too. If it starts to take too long though, she has another plan in mind.
Valron: "I could just... shoot them, if need be, but."
Metal Man (GM): The bolts start to fall loose, and the plate's about ready to fall off entirely.
Nonna: "Heads up down below." *He tries to ease its falling so it wouldn't clang and clatter as it fell.*
Metal Man (GM): The plate cracks in two, and goes to fall. You grab one half, the other one bouncing off the ground. You don't have much time to react though, as a punch-clock guard is on the other side. He turns around and sees you.
iGuard: "What the f@#k?"
Nonna tosses the other half at him.
Violet: *Aiming for the head to knock him out, of course.*
Metal Man (GM): Hm... roll a z(skill) check on that one. z3 He leaps aside, just barely avoiding it. Then he swings at you. z3 You duck and he nearly falls out the window swinging at you.
Gelato: *Well, since he's clinging to the wall...*
Nonna: "Give him a little push, Gelato!"
Gelato: *Baton Pass.*
Metal Man (GM): The man is warped outside, and Gelato goes inside. The man yells for a brief moment before landing on the dumpster, KO'd. The people out front sound a bit more suspicious. However, the room that Nonna has opened is clear.
Nonna uses the Omni-disguise to appear as the KO-ed guard.
Valron: "...Hey, wait a second. I'm so daft. I could just... Baton Pass in. Mind you, one of you will need to get back in, so... I'll just..." *He pops open his book, before giving a nod to himself as he goes to Baton Pass with Gelato. That was easy!* "I have no idea why I didn't think of this sooner."
Gelato: X3 *And he just climbs right back up and inside.*
Valron: *He shrugs, before putting his book away, glancing about the area now that he's in.*
Metal Man (GM): You're inside now, in what appears to be their loan servicing office. Specifically has a desk and a microcube computer. You can close the window; for some bizarre reason they saw the need to have an iron thing over the window here, you can see the levers for it on the inside, not that they do anything anymore.
Nonna: "Okay, hopefully I can talk our way out of confrontation a bit now that I'm like this. Pretend to be some... customers or something and I'm escorting you out because of the chaos in front."
Valron: "Right, right... I'll keep that in mind. Should I at least check out the computer first?"
Nonna: "We're golden until we get seen, so go ahead" *He closes the window.*
Metal Man (GM): Up here you can see the comms line to their 'HQ' is heer, also some locked cabinets and the desk.
Valron: *He nods, going to make his way over to the microcube comp, already making himself comfortable. *(go-go gadget Computer-Connector quirk :v)
Metal Man (GM): The door out is also shut, it's a sliding door type that's easily opened. The microcube comp asks for a password and username and for the most part isn't too terribly secure, but it might take a while to break in.
Valron: *He takes a moment to glance around the desk, making sure the guy stationed here didn't do something stupid, like... say. Leave a note for those in plain sight. You know, just in case it's that simple.*
Nonna guards the door in case she hears anyone trying to get through.
Metal Man (GM): You find a sticky note within about 15 seconds. Username: Kazuro Password: Bob340eu
Valron: "...How am I not surprised." *He lightly shakes his head, before going to put that in, making sure he has the cases all nice and proper.*
Metal Man (GM): You see their employee information. Downstairs you hear some noise, like some people walking around loudly.
Nonna: (quietly) "We may have company soon."
Metal Man (GM): The information here seems to suggest they've taken out a number of recent loans to shady looking people with little information as to who they are.
Valron: *He goes to skim through that, looking for anything of importance, before seeing if there's anything else he can check out.*
Metal Man (GM): The "Opus Port Authority" also seems to be getting paid inordinate amount of money, according to this. Some emails seem to be about them complaining about the Time Cops "Failing to keep out known insurance risks" such as the "Time Hobo" and even rumors of "The Destroyer."
Valron: *Of course, he's also saving this info to his own visor's computer for further perusal. You know, just in case. He lets out a soft laugh as he takes note of the complaint e-mails.*
Metal Man (GM): An odd email by an unknown sender appears to promise them some greater security, but at a rate that would suggest a great cost to them. They turn it down while the person suggests "You will probably regret that soon enough..."
Valron: "Oh, now that's a nice little gem..." *He smirks, before finishing up, figuring that's about the most he'll get out of this computer.*
Metal Man (GM): Finally, they note some infamous deadbeats for equipment that was bought and never paid for. Nobody you know seems to show up. Except for Sloan, who is noted as "We tried to collect payment, then received the skull of the debt collector in an ornate box, surrounded by live hand grenades. Abandoning for now."
Nonna: "Got some dirt, or whereabouts of dirt?"
Metal Man (GM): Some people seem to be walking up stairs near the door. You can hear a distant person talking.
???: "Why the hell did the Time Hobo attack us?"
Nonna: (quietly again) "Company!"
??2: "I don't know, but all he stole were information pamphlets about our available plans."
???: "We're going to need to call the head office. Why did we put the transmitter in the top room again?"
??2: "Nobody's going to break into there, it's an empty office and far away from the thugs."
Valron: *quietly* "Not much of interest. Just employee info, some stuff regarding shady loans, something about the Port Authority here getting paid loads of money, some complaints about the Time Cops being rubbish, and... Something about Sloan sending them the head of one of their debt collectors in a box. And grenades."
???: "Why couldn't we have Ed do it again?"
Valron: *quietly* "Anyways! Should... figure out something to do with these guys. Right."
??2: "Ed's a low level flunky, remember things for once and we might not accidentally let Sloan do business with us again."
Nonna listens carefully. Transmitter... Top Room. Maybe not secure.
???: "Bah, you always have to be so strict."
??2: "Do you remember your password?"
???: "It's right by the computer."
??2: "I told you not to do that!"
???: "I just don't get you people and your computer phobia. Who's possibly going to steal it all the way over there?"
Metal Man (GM): They go to walk up to the door. Any last second things you want to do?
Nonna submits all this information to her Photographic Memory and gets ready for diplomacy and possible confrontation, hoping Valron had moved away from the computer by now.
Metal Man (GM): Valron: You do anything as you hear them about to open the door? *Waits for response rather than being all too fast and such.*
Valron: *Has already moved away from the computer, and is looking for a nice spot to square himself away in so he can sneak away with no one any the wiser.*
Gelato: *He's a stealthy little puppy, slinking towards the window.*
Metal Man (GM): The door opens. One guy in a much better set of armor and weapons than the guy you encountered enters, alongside another guy who is clearly a fat businessman.
Kazuro: "Hazan. Who are these people, and why are they in here?"
Hazan: "Clearly our security did not work as intended. You should leave now... I don't think I can take all of them, and they likely are here to kill us all."
Kazuro: "What?"
Nonna: "Uh, hey. They kept saying something about wanting to see the manager."
Hazan: "Do not fall for their ruse, sir. There is no way they could have gotten in here like this."
Nonna: "Shall I escort them off the premises?"
Kazuro: "Now wait a minute... it looks to me like there may be something more to this..."
Gelato: *d* *He tries to climb out the window without them noticing.*
Kazuro: "You... who're you again?" *Points at disguised Nonna.*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato crawls out. Hazan goes to say something, but is interrupted by Kazuro.
Kazuro: "Obviously something is amiss here, but let's see if we can't make some sense out of this first."
Valron: *He seems to be tapping his foot impatiently, looking a bit annoyed. And he's grumbling to himself. Something about 'waiting for too bleedin' long'. Huh.*
Metal Man (GM): Yes--it was Ed.
Nonna: "Ed, sir. I--I know I'm on thin ice, and didn't wanna take action in case these guys were important, y'know?"
Kazuro: "Yes. Many of our clientele these days have become more shabby, due to the recession. Though you shouldn't have let the lever window fall off, because we need to burn the records without anyone noticing..."
Hazan: "Ed? ..." *Scratches chin* "Who are these people? If not assassins, then what are they doing here? This office is for dealing with loans, not... ...a visitor's lounge."
Nonna: "Customers, sir. They wandered in before the ruckus outside started, but seem to be a bit mad that they had to wait..."
Kazuro: "Well, let's get this settled then. You... customers... ...what are you in here for? We should get this settled quickly, we have to close and file a burglary report. The Time Hobo stole a bunch of... worthless pamphlets... and burned some of our windows..."
Hazan: "I'll need to speak to you in private, Ed... ...but first we have to get these people settled." *It's clear he might want to do more than 'speak' when he gets a moment.*
Nonna looks to Valron, hoping for a scene that will prompt her to have to escort them out. "Of course, sir. Now please tell him what you want, we've been here long enough already."
Valron: "A bit mad's something of a flippin' understatement..." *He lets out an rather exasperated sigh, before giving a nod.* "Right, right. Well, better late than never, I suppose. Ugh. Honestly, some people! I can't believe how much of a hassle it is to just get a few quotes on some sodding vehicles! Made a right hash of it, I swear..."
Kazuro: "My apologies, sir. A madman set our lobby on fire. You had to be escorted here for you... er... safety."
Hazan: "Well, if you have had enough, you can just lea--"
Kazuro: "No, I insist, what was it you needed again?"
Nonna: "And be respectful this time! Don't make me kick your asses out of here, cause I will."
Valron: "Ugh. Well, I... Let's see. I was looking to see if... Errr... Dammit. Got so annoyed I forgot what I wanted proper. I'll take up the offer on 'just leaving' and come again once my wits are about me. I'm sure customer service will be a lot more satisfactory once there's less... well, crazy people setting fire to things."
Hazan: "Yes... I have to agree, now isn't the best time for this sort of thing. I'll make sure they leave... Ed can stay here and make sure you don't get in trouble while I'm gone."
Nonna: "I'm sorry, guys. I'll make sure they see themselves out--"
Valron: "Yeah, yeah. Prob'ly caused enough trouble as it is, regardless."
Hazan: "As much as your help would be appreciated, Ed, I don't want any more strange things to occur today."
Nonna: "Are you insulting me, sir?"
Hazan: "Well, there's a reason we put you up here... if we needed you downstairs we'd have asked. Don't back-talk me, if you want to keep your job."
Kazuro: "There's plenty of people to go around, Hazan... by all means, Ed, escort them out. Hazan is likely to just scare them witless with his tales of psycho bandits."
Hazan: "A demented man burned our catalogs to the ground!"
Kazuro: "That's why we should make them fireproof."
Hazan: "I swear, this is what I get for having the nerve to suggest to Time Cop Adrixis to tighten up security in this sector..."
Kazuro: "Yes, we all know they fired you for being too strict. See to it you don't make the same mistake here... I'm getting bored of this discussion already!"
Nonna: "I'll just be a minute. I'll be right back to discuss things, okay? Now let's go, you." *Gestures at Valron.*
Metal Man (GM): Kazuro sits his fat butt down in the chair and idly uses his computer, either oblivious or otherwise unable to tell it was logged in to.
Valron: "..." *He just kinda boggles at the discussion, before glancing over to 'Ed' for a moment to just... escort him out already. This is getting kind of awkward. And there he goes, off to follow.*
Metal Man (GM): Hazan sighs, clearly having had one too many bad events in his day. As you go to leave, you walk past the 'product' department, which consists of people behind desks being like telemarketers.
Nonna: *Once out, she'd make sure the door was closed and began walking quickly, but still calmly.*
Metal Man (GM): They advertise random nonsense like "Widget tighteners" and "Screw Absorbers." They don't even blink as you wander through. Off to the side is a showroom for various parts. They look only made for fancy new ships, though.
Valron: *He lightly cocks a brow at half the nonsensical terms, while still walking at a brisk pace, making sure to keep up with Nonna.*
Nonna: (whispering) "Think you need any more information before we leave?"
Metal Man (GM): You still see some smoke coming from downstairs. You hear sweeping down there, too.
Valron: (whispering) "Not sure if what I got is exactly going to be 'concrete', though... Have anything you could give it a good once-over on to see if it's good, or...?"
Nonna: (whispering) "Don't think we can stay any longer without going loud. Up to you."
Metal Man (GM): Some other guards there glance at you as you walk by. This place does have one or two or... four on this level...
Nonna: "You're welcome to come back once your attitude has settled down and the building is no longer on fire!"
Valron: "Yeah, yeah... I get it already. Don't need to say it again. Eesh."
Metal Man (GM): You can walk downstairs, unless you have something else in mind.
Nonna commits the layout of the place to her memory as they make their way out.
Valron continues to follow suit, making sure not to break from the routine until they're safely out of sight.
Metal Man (GM): You walk outside, seeing the destruction, the burning washing machine, and pieces of a statue that was out front that Xavier exploded. You would rejoin Gelato a ways away from that place, nobody else having followed you.
Gelato: "Woof." :3
Nonna uses the omni-disguise again to turn back into the generic civilian. "Let's go over what you found. If it's not enough, we'll just smash and grab. Sooner or later they'll find the real Ed, or the real Ed will wake up and report in. Won't have much of a choice anyways."
Valron: "...Right, right. Let me just..." *He pauses for a moment, before starting up the visor's computer again, before going over the info he's found on Kazuro's computer. Or at least giving a summation of it.*
Metal Man (GM): You determine that from the information you have, it's clear they're doing some aggressive deals to edge other people out of business, that they are bribing the local officials more than average, and that they appear to have done business with Sloan at least once.
Nonna: "Might be, might not be... let's submit it anonymously to the Time Cops and watch for any activity. If they don't respond, then we Plan B."
Valron: (w) "...I'd rather just confer with Lincoln to see if we actually have something, first. Then Plan B."
Nonna: "Fair enough." *Making sure nobody's tailing them or anything* "Let's pay him a visit, then."
Metal Man (GM): You can walk right back to him, yes.
Valron: *He also glances around, double-checking to make sure there's no tailers, before giving a nod.* "Let's." *And with that, he makes the track back to Lincoln.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd head back, as Lincoln is busy watching security footage. He'd lean back to see you and casually lock the doors behind you so nobody could just wander in.
Lincoln: "Welcome, welcome... ...what did you find?"
Nonna: "You know it's us, huh."
Gelato: "Arf arf." *X3*
Lincoln: "Yeah, though I got a heads up from your people... they've been watching this, whoever this Borne guy is. Best that I don't mistake you for somebody else, I made sure not to let most people in in case somebody tries to hit other shops opportunistically..."
Nonna: "Well, we got some things." *Sums it up if Valron doesn't.*
Valron: "Let's see... I think we got somethin' pretty good here, but I just want to make sure what we have is good enough." *And with that, he shows the info to Lincoln.*
Lincoln: "Hmmm, yes... something is amiss here... besides the mystery person, who suggests to me they might have outsiders involved with them, there's the obviousness of that money... and an ex Time Cop is working for them, which can easily chill business down to nothing if I tell the right people. Still woulda preferred if you just, like, burnt 'em down, but... eh. This information possesses more value than you know. The right information brokers will give me money and ruin their rep at the same time. By the time they clean that up you'll be gone and I'll be much richer. I can fix up whatever broken disaster you happen to be using, I've heard rumors it's one of those infamous Mark IV Time Cop Engines from the Great War."
Valron: "Eh. Sorry about that. Maybe next time, if they're unlucky and we happen to be in the right wrong place." *He lets out a soft laugh.* "In any case, good to see it's all golden."
Nonna: "I don't believe in not limiting collateral damage whenever possible."
Lincoln: "Yeah, fair. I only asked that you do something... not how to do it. I don't like meddling in how people do things. It makes them less effective."
Valron: "I'm... not as careful, sometimes, but I figured it may have been better in this case, considering we don't really have much of anything going for us at the moment. ...In terms of resources, anyways."
Lincoln: "Well, you probably coulda blown more of their shop up and gotten away with it--but then again they were bribing the Port Authority so probably not a good idea after all, especially if that guy Hazan is for real. I think that was one of the merciless Time Cop overlords before he got fired. Could have been a lot messier, I admit... woulda been a bit bad for everyone's business had that gotten out of hand. You can go back to your ship now, I'll go over and do the repairs once this... noise dies down."
Valron: "Hm. Well, good thing we didn't have to actually face him, at least. Had a run-in with the guy on the way out. Managed to slip by, at least."
Metal Man (GM): He gestures to the Port Authority guards investigating the building you were just in.
Nonna: "Thank you. We look forward to it."
Valron: "Of course, of course. Thanks, in any case."
Lincoln: "Might want to make yourselves scarce, since they clearly own the city's security force... at least until it becomes publicly known. Then they won't anymore. Heheh."
Nonna: "Good point. We aren't Xavier, but they'll find Ed soon..."
Gelato: *He nuzzles Lincoln's leg in thanks!*
Nonna looks outside to make sure the coast is clear. Well, if there was any kind of window, anyway.
Lincoln: *Pets Gelato* "Yeah, and he'll probably note what he saw. Partially why death is a cleaner option, in my book, but... whatever. Your job, your choice." *He shrugs and lights up a cigar.*
Metal Man (GM): You see it's clear, both with his monitors and the window.
Valron: "Right, let's get outta here, then."
Nonna: "See you soon, Lincoln." *Out the door.*
Valron: *And out he goes.*
Nonna: *Heading quickly back to the Wing Fortress.*
Metal Man (GM): And you walk out to the ship, fairly without much noise... we'll fade out the session there for now. I'm still blowing off the dust from my brain, so taking it slow. *nod* Conclusion. Note to self: More automated enemy tools--though you went quiet so most of that wasn't needed yet. Of course I'll probably have a nice open fighting session sooner or later to go and test out the wheels some more. I keep getting better ideas on how to lop off rough edges in the system.
Metal Man (GM): Introduction. The Questers last secured rights to repair their ship. By all means, it appears that all is well now. Lincoln is on the ship, fixing things inside. He would be staring at what's inside, and looking at the Time Engine in bewilderment. You guys are wherever you would normally be, as at least on the surface, there isn't even a mission up for doing today... or is there??? Continuation Of note: There's the Bridge, the Kitchen, Engineering, the Armory, and the Ship bay. Also the observation deck, although it's been locked off, with a note saying 'We probably don't want Questers to be seen outside on this ship, causing them to be associated with Xavier.' Xavier is on the bridge, contemplating some old pictures. Borne would be visible in the ship bay. Illian has always been in the Armory, and Lincoln is also in the Bridge. There's some small amount of smoke in the Engineering room.
Gelato: *He's pacing around, looking for things to do...* D:
Nonna: *Kind of awkwardly staying out of the action, but without any particular place on the ship to be...*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would notice multiple things. Xavier is staring at old photos of things. There's smoke in Engineering that smells vaguely bacon flavored. And some engine noises in the cargo bay.
Valron: *Is mainly keeping away from the Engineering room, because he's pretty sure he doesn't really want to be anywhere near it while it's smoking. I mean, sure, he doesn't need to breath, but for all he knows that stuff's probably not even safe to touch.*
Metal Man (GM): Engineering as Walther would see it, would be the continually burning shield box of the Valhalla shield. It seems like even despite his best efforts, it still continues to smoke.
Nonna: *Approaches Valron all of a sudden* "Excuse me, but I hope I was not a burden during our outing."
Valron: "Mmhh? It's fine. You weren't really any sort of burden at all. I've dealt with much, much worse in my life. If anything, I'm still getting used to having sane people to work with."
Walther Pierce: .oO(Can't see the external power source for this barbecue...)
Gelato: *He slithers into the Engineering room.*
Metal Man (GM): Xavier is currently looking over photos of ancient Questers. Given how he seems to be setting his drinks on their faces, he must not like these particular ones. Meanwhile Gelato would see Walther watching a smoking giant crystal with a bunch of wires and boxes on it.
Nonna: "Sane? You must have had quite the experience then if sanity is a blessing."
Gelato: "...Cheep?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "In the old days, we had Questers who thought they were the masters of all video games, and another one who decided he was a satanic puppetmaster. And that doesn't count the guy who opened Pandora's box, or the other one who sobbed and cried every time the enemy escaped."
Walther Pierce: .oO(Could just throw some ice in here. Cold-temperature smoke would probably be the only outcome...) "?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Or that other guy who thought Aribar was his father."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would see the crystal. Some part of the crystal is smoking, but it's obscured by a box that says DO NOT OPEN
Valron: "Or the guy who never brought any weapons and thought his fists were enough to deal with everything."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "And then there was the time the person had a sword made out of a giant key, and believed he was a scientist... while exploding himself violently."
Walther Pierce: *Walther turns around to see Gelato at the door.* "Huh. Wanderin' around some?"
Metal Man (GM): The box that says DO NOT OPEN has a weird giant screw that resembles the bottom of a soda can.
Gelato: "..." *He tilts his head at the box, blinking.*
Metal Man (GM): The box smells vaguely like bacon... and it is burning. Something inside it, that is. The rest of the thing has been thoroughly cleaned off, cooled down, and patched up.
Nonna: "Huh." *She was apparently none too disturbed or confused by the tales this time. She had already learned to give up any doubt when it came to the Questers.*
Walther Pierce: *Turning around to look at the machinery.* "Yeah, it's all hot stuff. Not for eating. Bad on the tongue." .oO(Bad on the not-tongue.) "And I don't really see how this thing is still pretending it's the 4th of July, Time To Have Burgers."
Gelato: *He promptly climbs up and attempts to seat himself on the crystal.*
Metal Man (GM): The crystal is warm, but only pleasantly so. It doesn't appear to be very much in use. The box and the area around it, though, is painfully hot to the touch, should you get close to it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Not shocked? ...Well that's good. I think I scared off a couple recruits with the horror stories already. The guy with the Coca Cola issues was definitely one of the worse ones. In any case, things got better, although sort of in a sideways way. During this era I was gone, a bunch of more crafty Questers showed up... then they kinda... did some not so good things, and things got kinda messed up. ...Then Illian tried to fix things and sorta... messed things up again. ...Then we used a Time Cube to clean up the mess and everything's back to normal!"
Metal Man (GM): Suddenly, several of the old photos float to the ceiling for no reason.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Except things like that happen for no reason around me. Oh well."
Walther Pierce: "I'd shut it off for now if I could see where to, but it seems to not really care for that. And I'm not particularly fond to getting near that without knowing what I'm doing again."
Valron: "Eh. At least that'll be fixed up soon enough? Probably, anyways."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That's what I was gonna note, actually. There's some leftover things to deal with. Most of them are pretty simple, but when we're in between things like this, it doesn't hurt to deal with them."
Nonna: *Takes a seat, looking around* "Where's Borne and Illian?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Illian's in the Armory. We tend to give him space because he's a bit of a pill. Borne is in the Ship bay. He appears to be doing something in there. He sorta reminds me of Mewtwo in that he tends to get tired of my insanity, so you can bet he'll be moving around the ship when we're waiting on things like this. Not that I mind too much, this Bridge is generally my space anyway... ...because I'm the only one who can make sense of this mess!" *Holds up a pretzel shaped weld of wires and metal attached to the control panel.*
Valron: "That... sounds about right, yes."
Gelato: *Boring. He hops down, going to find something else to do with a warm bottom.*
Metal Man (GM): The warm bottom of it has that weird can-shaped screw in it. It looks loose and the smoke is actually coming out through it. And continues to smell like bacon.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Anyway, what I'm currently trying to figure out is how to get my warp system working. Nintendus and Alsa have some small troubles we can deal with from time to time, but you know, we have a giant force field in the way... and we can't afford to fly this thing through that field again."
Valron: "Yeah... And I really don't think we want to figure out now ways to slip by that stupid thing every time we want to check up on them."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "There's means to get around it, but it requires something a bit wacky..."
Metal Man (GM): He idly takes out a 'PROPERTY OF PROFESSOR OAK' giant chunk of circuitry.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "While we were leaving, I stole half the warp room."
Valron: "That, and I do have reason to go back to Nintendus. Need to check up on Ivan and see how the- ...Wow."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Heh, don't be too surprised. I've stolen at least three sets of matching electrical outlets from there in the past."
Valron: "I know, but that's just outlets and not half a room."
Nonna: "This is going to be a long trip."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato: It would look like you could probably try to open that box, given how rickety it is. Or perhaps Walther... or both... the only problem is it's really hot right now.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Anyway, I have the parts, but it's only half a warp room. That's fine for the original warp room, because they mindlessly repair that thing over there no matter what we do. But out here it's not so easy. There's no... what do they call it... magic in the air? It's... not possible to just pretend a bunch of half complete stuff will just work out here."
Valron: "Yeah, that does complicate matters. I'd imagine we'd need to find something that would compensate for that in some way? Or, well... Complete it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah. And we can't be wandering outside. There's police everywhere. They woke up this morning to all the stuff being stolen and leaked. Now that's not so bad, because Opus isn't really magical, so we can sort of improvise. The question is, what are we gonna do to improvise to make it work without exploding ourselves..."
Gelato: *He leaps up and tries to grab hold of that box, pulling it open!*
Metal Man (GM): The box rips open, revealing... a bacon sandwich which is glowing radioactively inside of it and smoking. It has a label saying CHARLES MAGELLEAN'S PERSONAL BACON SANDWICH OF POWER
Gelato: :D *FOOD. He tries to grab that!*
Walther Pierce: "! Oh crap." *Backing up* "Oh crap, rads. Backing up, rads."
Metal Man (GM): Walther made me realize he's the first character in over 10 years to actually care about radiation. Last time was that time Xavier became bizarrely afraid of Garrick's magitek drums.
KitRedgrave would wander in at about that moment, and just stare at the sandwich.
Metal Man (GM): Kit would see that engineering has a giant glowing crystal in it, and a glowing bacon sandwich that is radioactive. And smoking. It looks vaguely tasty, but also incredibly dangerous, and hot. And vaguely burned. Anyway, the sandwich IS probably radioactive, so it probably wouldn't be best to leave it outside its box for a long time. Granted, I have no plans on tracking radiation like Fallout yet. XP
Walther Pierce: *Backing out of the room now, watching Kit go in,* "Rad hazard, rads-- wait you don't know what rads are."
Metal Man (GM): But Kit does know what Rads are... ...maybe not the way you think. XP
Gelato: :D *He's eating that sandwich as fast as he can.*
KitRedgrave: "Rads. Like rotations?"
Walther Pierce: *Loud* "RADIATION HAZARD IN ENGINEERING."
Nonna: "I'll go and see if Borne needs any assistance." *She would rise and suppress a giggle at how the Questers took it easy between missions.*
Valron: "...I'm surprised that whole area isn't a radiation hazard."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Yells down the hall* "THERE'S ENGINEERING IN THE RADIATION??? ...That must be why Borne and Illian avoid Engineering."
Walther Pierce: "Rotations? No. More like painful energy transfer. Just leave the room for now."
KitRedgrave: "Oh, that thing that makes plutonium not good to talk to. Okay."
Walther Pierce: *Loud* "JUST GET DOWN HERE OR SOMETHING."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I hope Lyx isn't in Engineering. OKAY, I WISH PROFESSOR OAK WAS HERE THOUGH."
KitRedgrave would then just leave the radioactive sandwich of doom where it lays, and go wander off elsewhere.
Metal Man (GM): Xavier wanders over and encounters Kit outside Engineering.
Walther Pierce: *Loud* "WHO."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... did you see the Radical Sandwich in there?"
Nonna wanders to the ship bay to check on Borne, and to offer assistance if need be.
Metal Man (GM): Gelato, of course, would go to eat the radical sandwich.
KitRedgrave: "Yeah, it's very radical. Might melt through the floor at any moment fro-did he just...?"
Valron: "...Right. While all that's going on, I'm... just. Going to..." *He lightly shakes his head, before going to check on Lincoln and see how he's doing.*
Metal Man (GM): It is very hot... and most importantly, appears to be made out of a bizarre eldritch material that Gelato could absorb inside his body, but won't break down inside him. It feels ticklish inside Gelato's mouth.
Gelato: *Crunch crunch crunch.*
Metal Man (GM): Borne is in the ship bay, working on a bunch of destroyed ships. They look like Vs.
Walther Pierce: "...well ok. That's one way to, uh... handle that."
Metal Man (GM): Lincoln on the other hand is busy welding the Time Engine using a sword that has a grandfather clock in it.
Lincoln: *Muttering* "Godfersaken bizarre Time Cop stuff..."
Valron: "...Bizarre is certainly one way of putting it. Who uses a sword to weld things?"
Lincoln: "Well, Time Cops, of course. I'd use a blowtorch, but yer engine... is invincible to fire."
Walther Pierce: "I guess that at least takes care of the smoke issue, except for-- why was there even a damned sandwich in there. No, wait, don't tell me. Xavier. Answer made."
Valron: "Well I figured 'aside from Time Cops' would be kinda implied in that, but... I see. Makes sense that it would be, though. Can't imagine that anything good would happen if it wasn't"
Metal Man (GM): With the sandwich gone, the crystal seems to power down. Xavier would look to Kit. Then peek inside the engineering room.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...So did anybody touch anything strange in there?"
Walther Pierce: "...and -now- the thing runs out of power?"
KitRedgrave: "He just. Ate. The radioactive sandwich."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I believe it was powered by the radioactive sandwich. Now Gelato is powered by the radioactive sandwich."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would be glowing oddly.
Nonna: "Excuse me, Borne. Can I help you with anything?"
Walther Pierce: "Questions and answers. Fun."
Commander Borne: "Oh... you decided to come here, instead of attending to your probable radioactive contamination in Engineering. Well, consider me impressed."
KitRedgrave: "...Hey. What even is that crystal? I saw one like it back when we were on Alsa."
Commander Borne: "It's not very exciting, but I'm repairing these Dauntless Class mini-ships. I... don't trust any of the technology here, and my own tech was thoroughly destroyed before I was 'rescued' by Xavier's forces. You know, because... radioactive sandwiches."
Walther Pierce: *Turning to Gelato and crossing his arms,* "Worst case scenario is that Gelato has to stay in here whenever we need power from now on. Unless we can find something else to provide power..." .oO(and that's assuming power transfer even works through that organic material)
Commander Borne: "...Right, you can't see the cameras like I can." *Shows a picture of it* "...Don't go there, you probably don't want to be irradiated."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That crystal is... is... ...what is that Crystal?" *He points the Smash Dex at it.*
Smash Dex: "It is a pure unrefined crystal of Lunaris Ferranium."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I thought that was some sort of festival."
KitRedgrave: "...what's Lunaris Ferranium?"
Smash Dex: "'Moon Iron', a special material that normally is very rare. Magic Crystal, to be more precise."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What about the bacon sandwich?"
Smash Dex: "Presumably something that made it able to create a shield."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What? But it's a sandwich!"
Smash Dex: "Error: Cannot deduce what logic would make a sandwich capable of doing that."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, it was burnt, and now it's inside of Gelato. We should probably use something less insane to do it if we don't want to become as burnt as that sandwich."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato continues to glow oddly.
Nonna: "Yes... radiation is something I'd like to avoid. I'm flesh and blood, after all."
Commander Borne: "You wouldn't know it, but so are most of the other Questers. They just like to believe they're not human."
Walther Pierce: "Well until then, gel dragon's on shield duty as long as he keeps being green."
Commander Borne: "...Except the handful that aren't, but I digress."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, I do have this chunk of circuit board... ...but then we have to convince Gelato not to eternally be radioactive."
KitRedgrave: "We don't want to end up like ol' crazy Ernie. Poor guy."
Commander Borne: "Anyway, if you want to be useful, Nonna, you could get Illian to give me some more parts. He... hates me still so he won't be giving me any parts directly."
Gelato: *He tries to go out towards everyone, so they can check out his pretty new glow!*
Computer: "RADIATION LEAK IN ENGINEERING."
KitRedgrave: "No! Stay! No making our hair fall out!"
Nonna: "He will hate me less?"
Walther Pierce: .oO(e_shield_unequipped) *Walther rolls back behind the wall, sticking a finger out in a 'tsk tsk' manner.* "You heard me. Shield duty."
Gelato: *He backs away and sits down.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Tries to stand between Gelato and people who aren't radiation proof* "Now Gelato, the sandwich you ate is... highly dangerous. So... uhhhh..." *Holds up the case for the sandwich* "We kind of need that sandwich not to be outside its thick, lead box. Then... then we can get you a new, better bacon sandwich. One that isn't burnt!"
KitRedgrave: *Kit would just get back behind the nearest very thick wall. Which is Xavier.*
Metal Man (GM): You would note that Xavier is bulky enough to absorb all of the radiation. ...Though you wouldn't want to wear his helmet, because the inside of his suit seems to glow too... a different color from the sandwich, even.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Also, not to change the subject, but you know about warp things, right Kit? When I'm done with this, I could... use your help... ...Walther might want to make a bacon sandwich or something..."
KitRedgrave: "Not very much, that's one of the things I was trying to find out about initially. Could try to help though."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We have unfinished business in Nintendus AND Alsa, so I figured we should work on this warp thing." *He holds out weird glowing piece of circuitry.*
Nonna: "Well, I guess we'll find out. Be right back." *She would head to where Illian was noted to be.*
Metal Man (GM): Nonna would see Illian in the Armory, surrounded by weird, glowing weapons. However, unlike the sandwich, his weaponry is just glowing from built in lighting and laser elements.
Gelato: *He tries to squeeze into that case.*
Illian MacGregor: "One one hundred and two... one one hundred and three... one one hundred and four..."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato fits inside the case, while Xavier stares at it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Huh... I didn't think about that... ...it's a goo dragon cube... ...but I don't want to trap Gelato into a case forever."
Nonna: "Excuse me, Illian? Some parts were requested for the ship bay."
Illian MacGregor: "Hm? Someone actually coming into here?" *Looks at Nonna, blinking as text appears on his visor.* "Oh, you're that mysterious person who showed up... ...you're asking for his stuff, aren't you..." *Taps his metal fingers* "Well, at least you bothered to ask me, instead of trying to steal from here like he would."
KitRedgrave: "Maybe he can squeeze out of an opening you could then close?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah, yes." *Holds up cube* "This hole where it once touched the main crystal is big enough for him to squeeze out of. ...If he wants to do that."
Gelato: *He lies in there, curled up. Bad Gelato.*
Nonna: "...The name is Nonna."
Illian MacGregor: "Yes, I know. I also know how much you weigh, how tall you are, and can guess your blood type, and I have videos of everything you've done within range of our security cameras too." *Taps his visor* "Every one of you would have visors like me, but for some reason Xavier said they were 'uncool.' Even though knowing all this is essential to ensure no more nutcases slip through. And Garrick's gone, which is a real pain. I'm no armor smith, but here I am."
KitRedgrave would go ahead and get out of Engineering before Xavier stops being a nice convenient lead shield.
Walther Pierce: "Up to him, I guess."
Metal Man (GM): Kit would see some other rooms: There's the armory, where Illian is, or where Borne is, in the ship bay.
Nonna: "In that case, it's no longer a mystery who I am, is it? I would like to ask you kindly for some parts if it is in your power to procure them."
Metal Man (GM): Of note to Kit, Borne is the other Alsan on board, so that might be handy.
Illian MacGregor: "Oh it is. But I have perfectly good reason not to just hand them to Borne immediately. He's slippery, and now that we don't have the fate of the universe in our hands, I don't know if I can't trust him to try to build a fleet to take over Alsa. Nobody even bug checked him. He could have some evil program Sloan slipped in."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That's not counting the fact he refuses to use the same stuff everyone else uses." *He wrings his hands.* "Those annoying black boxes he keeps giving out won't even let me break in and view everyone's text messages..."
Nonna: "You aren't giving them to Borne. You'd be giving them to me."
Illian MacGregor: "Hmf, going to be strict about this are we?" *He would smirk smugly.* "All right, what business would you have with them, then?"
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, Xavier pokes at the box.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Uhhh... hmmm... Let's go to the kitchen, Walther."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier would start wandering to the kitchen with Gelato-in-the-box. Which would probably make for an interesting puzzle or trap.
Walther Pierce: "...right." *He follows along at a slightly slower pace.*
Nonna: "Repairwork."
Illian MacGregor: "And what's being repaired? This ship's full of outright dangerous objects, including one that, if repaired, could destroy an entire universe if used incorrectly. And that happens to be something Borne brought on here..."
Nonna: "Whatever is asked of me. But first, do you really, truly believe Borne is planning on a violent takeover like that?"
KitRedgrave would go wander over to the hangar then while Xavier does whatever he needs to do with Gelato to decontaminate him. In the kitchen. Yeah...
Illian MacGregor: "Well it's simple. He's made entirely out of violent takeovers. The only time he wasn't violently taking things over, was after he'd violently taken over big chunks of Alsa. Grant you, he's acted differently since he... shrugged off what was mostly his best chance of permanently doing that, but I have to make sure the right things are being made here. There's forms and serial numbers and things."
Commander Borne: *Looks to Kit* "Oh, it's you. It's been a while, hasn't it?"
KitRedgrave: "It has. Good to see you're doing alright."
Commander Borne: "Same. I was afraid I would end up being alone as far as Alsans go. Few of them made it through all the events that occurred."
Nonna: "And you have an interest in Alsa's safety and democratically elected governmental system?"
Illian MacGregor: "...Mostly that he doesn't steal it after we all basically agreed not to do such a thing ever again. The chaos would potentially destroy the universe, because I doubt the level-headed ending we had would happen twice in a row."
Xavier Ridgecrest walks in and sets the Gelato box down in the kitchen. "We're short on food, so... we have to figure out whatever Gelato's favorite food is."
Nonna: "And you have that little faith the agreement will hold?"
Walther Pierce: "Whatever you think would be better than... what was it, bacon?"
Illian MacGregor: "More that I'm cautious. The last two times around, I let small details evade me, and then everything I knew and loved was exploded."
Walther Pierce: "I'd think a 1:1 swap would be easier, but. Your call."
KitRedgrave: "Yeah... or will even remember the events now." (We did totally rewrite everything, right?)
Commander Borne: "Yes. We are about the only ones who remember the destroyed wasteland Alsa became after the Questers messed it up. Oh... I mean Alsan Questers, yes. That said, there's still some work to be done there, and I've heard noises about Xavier finding a way back so we can ensure it isn't completely abandoned by us."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hmmm, what is better than bacon. Can you tell us that, Gelato?"
Gelato: "...beep?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Do you wish to eat electronics, Gelato?"
Metal Man (GM): Walther would be able to open the fridge, if he wanted.
KitRedgrave: "Indeed, I told him I'd help him do that. I don't want to completely leave my home behind. Good to keep an eye on it every now and again."
Nonna: "You too are a passenger on this ship. You may wish to avoid him, but if you doubt his motives and actions, then you have every opportunity to just talk to him and be open about your concerns. The longer you preserve this distance, the longer you will be unable to communicate. Now, may I have the parts, please?"
Metal Man (GM): Illian chuckles to himself some more, as if he can't believe this.
Illian MacGregor: "Where in the world did you come from, lady? Most of these people couldn't stare me down to save their lives. I'll give you some of the parts, if you can just explain who taught you not to be intimidated by my speeches... ...because I'm pretty certain it wasn't some magical turtle guy or a vampire, or fancy-pants McKuja man."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I know. Gelato. Beep twice if you like something, and beep once if you hate it. So, do you want to eat electronics, Gelato? ...Wait, why am I asking that, I don't want him to eat electronics..."
Commander Borne: "You have anything in specific you worry about, Kit? There's too many things for me to think about, so I figure if I start with what you're interested in, I can deal with whatever I want that's related. Gets more done that way."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Wait, that's it... Walther. Get something out of the fridge and offer it to the box full of radioactive goo dragon. Or, invent radiation-removing Robitussin."
KitRedgrave: "Worry? Not much. But I am very puzzled and curious about a lot of things."
Nonna: "I am merely a cadet, but my grandpa always taught me to put aside the smaller details and look to solve the big picture first. You act intimidating to mask your worries and fears, which you have readily revealed to me. Therefore, it's in our best interest to address this problem in a practical way. It sometimes takes an outsider to see the solution to a dispute."
Illian MacGregor: "..." *Rubs his chin, causing an annoying metallic noise* "Curse that Xavier and his recruiting of people from outside the crazy world. I can't sit around and get my way by being grumpy anymore. ...What parts do you need?"
Commander Borne: "Hm, anything in specific? It's been a while since I've thought about Alsa. I'd definitely prefer to think about that right now, anyway."
Walther Pierce: "Just grab whatever, huh." *No point in not opening the refrigerator anymore then.*
Metal Man (GM): The fridge has a weird mixture of things. It has a cake that says '<3 VG'
Nonna presents him the list Borne likely gave her, or anything similar.
Metal Man (GM): It then has some bananas... a peach... five packs of Hoyle playing cards... Some limestone tile, a spoon that says DO NOT LICK... A syringe of nanites... ...And a pizza.
Walther Pierce: "..." *Pockets the cards* *All 260-ish of them.*
Metal Man (GM): Pierce gained: Playing Cards. Rich in Vitamin Hoyle. Yes... yes it is. No reference festival would be complete without it. However, you know you've escaped Nintendus when the box isn't empty.
Walther Pierce: "What do you think sounds better, vaguely written-on strawberry or month-old pepperoni?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I think the pepperoni because there's no writing on it."
Walther Pierce: "Done." *Removes whatever pizza is left, be it a little or a lot.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a full box! ...Wow, someone made sure to keep the whole box full for some reason. And put it in the fridge. What a maniac.
Illian MacGregor: *Takes forever, but eventually piles up a giant mountain of parts on a hover-lift by the side of his shop table* "...Be careful, it's heavy to move. Even with the Magitek hover lifts."
Walther Pierce: *Settin' that pizza down on the table.* "Opinion, Gelato?"
KitRedgrave: "On Alsa, I'm trying to puzzle out how exactly we want history to go. It's kind of an open field once we fix the one huge mistake. How we make sure that it's difficult if not impossible to mess up again."
Commander Borne: "Most likely it involves... geesh... that evil energy in the core of the planet Illian put there."
Metal Man (GM): Nonna would have the parts now, though she can ask Illian about more if she has anything else on her mind.
Nonna: "Thank you, Illian. It might be hard to think about, but... we're all friends here, despite our differences. Everyone's only a couple rooms away anytime, and we may not all be travelling together indefinitely, so... if there's anything you want to say or do to clear up misunderstandings and confusion, or get to know anyone better..."
Commander Borne: "We should go back to your time, Kit, now that I remember it. Illian sort of... set in motion the evil that cursed your descendants."
Gelato: "Beep beep."
Commander Borne: "We can probably save them without destroying time too much. Ultimately evolution and technology would make them modern day either way, just that a lot more of them would not die this way."
KitRedgrave: "Oh yes. That goes without saying."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Okay, Gelato. I will give you this entire pizza, if you exit that box through that hole and leave the radioactive sandwich behind. Then we will find you even more things to eat that aren't that sandwich... ...if that's okay with you."
Commander Borne: "Most importantly, I think your relatives' destruction by Illian was a calculated attempt to ensure the world was only ruled by angry barbarians."
KitRedgrave: "...Heh. And I brought the guy back from the dead."
Commander Borne: "Since the only tribes that he spared were the early Vring, which were hordes of angry humans with axes... ...and those pale Echidnas, who got inbred and insane. Well... you brought him from the dead before he became totally evil."
Gelato: "..." *He tries to get out for that pizza!*
Nonna: "Anyway, thank you again. Hope to see you again soon." *She would leave with the parts, making extra sure that it doesn't collapse or fall over in any way.*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would succeed to get out, leaving the infernal sandwich behind. Xavier takes the box and quickly puts it away before it can be opened or messed with again, then breathes a sigh of relief.
Nonna: *Then makes her way to back to Borne, unless Illian wanted to say or do anything before she left.*
Walther Pierce: "Non-flammable glue to seal the lid, and another label in the future that keeps people from wondering 'why not open it'."
Illian MacGregor: "Be careful around him... I know my fears may seem irrational, but there's more to it than I mentioned..." *He'd then let Nonna leave.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That's a good idea. ...But most of the parts are in Engineering or the Ship bay."
Gelato: *He instantly springs onto that pizza, beginning to suck it down!*
Metal Man (GM): The pizza is pepperoni and sausage. It's a bit old, but otherwise pretty tasty.
KitRedgrave: "Okay, let's avert that little bit of nastiness."
Commander Borne: "That can be what we do after we get there to begin with. We should go bother Xavier about this... after my parts get here."
Walther Pierce: "Happened once, can happen again."
Metal Man (GM): Nonna would make her way to where Borne is with the parts, the lift being heavily burdened.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Which should we go in, you think, Walther?"
Nonna: "I'm back. Also, he may want to have a talk with you at some point, to clear up any bad blood between you."
Walther Pierce: "Well let's put -that- back before anything." .oO(You already said you did that with putting it away though, didn't you.)
Commander Borne: "That's going to be a challenge, but if you feel like putting up with Illian's whining, I'd be up for it." *Leans on the ruined Dauntless ship.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh, you mean back on the crystal? ...right." *He goes to walk to Engineering.*
Walther Pierce: "See you back at the bay, then." *Off-en to check-a that out-en.*
Nonna: "These are all the parts you needed?"
Metal Man (GM): Walther would also enter the ship bay, and Gelato would be able to follow him if he was curious. Alternatively, the fridge looks interesting.
Commander Borne: "Yes... which makes me wonder if you set him on fire or something. He'd normally get all standoffish with me."
Nonna: "He's rather reasonable if you just communicate with him and take his concerns seriously."
Commander Borne: "...Sounds like a different person inhabited his body when you spoke with him, but we'll handle that later. These parts, now..." *Starts plugging them in* "...Yes, these are the parts. He kept rambling about somehow I'd destroy the universe with them... nutcase... With that dealt with, it'll be time to go talk to Xavier."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier walks in, scrubbing himself with a sponge that says 'de-Rad'
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Talk to me about what?"
Walther Pierce: "What about universe destruction now?"
Commander Borne: "That you were going to get us to Alsa with some sort of warp."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah, yes! The thing I wanted to do before all the weird stuff got in the way! ...I was gonna have Gelato merge some unrelated objects for us, but I didn't have any time to do that."
Nonna: "I wouldn't say he's a nutcase... just someone who has concerns. It would really be best to go and clear things up between the two of you if you want your relationship to be better."
Commander Borne: "Is there anything in the way now? ...No, there isn't... ..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, we should talk to Illian about it, actually."
Commander Borne: "...Well you'll figure it out." *Crosses arms.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm not sure if I know enough about trans-Alsan harmonics to do that by myself."
Commander Borne: *Sighs* "Fine, we'll all talk to Illian."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Also I got an update. Lincoln's gonna take a bit longer to fix our time engine. He says he keeps seeing guys in stovepipe hats when he turns it on."
KitRedgrave: "Um. Okay. Any reason why that'd happen?"
Nonna: *Turned around and only really just noticed how many other people were there* "Oh... hello."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It sees through time. When you stand near it and it can't focus, it finds irrelevant things that it deems 'like' you. Iron Man is looking quite shiny this time of year, I must say."
Gelato: *PIZZA.*
Walther Pierce: .oO(...right.)
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Obviously if we turn it on full power, that would potentially mean actual people walk through it and attack us. So we don't want to do that until it's fixed."
KitRedgrave: "That seems like we could use it for something."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Time Cops would be on us in a second if we did, but it could be used as a means to help warp us to places... you know, like we were discussing."
Commander Borne: "I'm not sure, though, if we warp through it, do we even end up in the same dimension?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Unconfirmed."
KitRedgrave: "Science to be done!" :D
Commander Borne: "We should send probes so we don't... send anyone too unreplaceable."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Darn it, this is the one time Aetos would have been useful. We could send him away and not worry if he vanished!"
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, Gelato finishes off the delicious pizza. I wonder what else Gelato would want to do... nobody is even watching him, so he could do... anything...
Commander Borne: "So do we need to go to Illian?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, unless we want Iron Man to fight Honest Abe, probably."
Nonna: "...I'll go with you, unless I am needed elsewhere."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, may as well get started then." *Goes to walk over there.*
Commander Borne nods and reluctantly follows.
Metal Man (GM): And... I know that is probably a good trigger for another session, so we'll probably cut off there... with one caveat, letting Gelato do a thing before we finish, because I feel like he got a bit abandoned part way in there.
Nonna follows them.
Metal Man (GM): Whatever it is Gelato would be curious to do... anything. Also I will probably have this pattern of alternating serious time normal sessions with wacky interlude times. Because... ...it works better that way. Also because the ship in general is large enough to be its own session area even without all the other things.
Gelato: *He looks towards that syringe of nanites in the fridge... and promptly takes that syringe in his mouth, beginning to slurp its contents out.*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would become nanite-influenced... ...interestingly, these are nanite blanks, so they don't actually appear to possess him. However, they do seem to make him a little bit larger and integrate into his body. Of course, there's no telling what one could do once they plug it in to something else electronic, especially since this is a goo being doing it rather than some random person filling their blood with metal dust. *Random Terminator theme here* The syringe is marked "Property of G.U.N. of the Mobian Continent." The mini-label below it says 'Top Secret' The one below it says "TOP secret as in NOT IN THE MICROWAVE, XAVIER."
Gelato: "..." *He promptly steps off to find a computer...*
Metal Man (GM): Noticeably, there's another one further back in the fridge that looks like somebody melted it and took a bite out of it. The first one you can find is inside the kitchen. It's an auto-meal computer. It's covered with lots of dust. It has access to lots of automated knives and other useful things. It looks like it was stolen off a much more advanced ship than this one, plugged in, then forgotten. The clock is blinking, even! Nobody ever does program the LED clocks on this ship... Except Illian, and Borne, but nobody's really looked for that yet. The next nearest unguarded computer would actually be the bridge, since everybody's loudly walking towards the Armory and thus would notice Gelato going to the Ship area too. That is, other than the kitchen computer.
Gelato: *He immediately scampers to that one, feeling drawn towards it...*
Metal Man (GM): Moving towards the bridge computer, you'd notice Lincoln far enough away to not see you. The bridge computer is weird, in that it's 5 Commodore 64s plugged into a Nintendo 64 plugged into a SPARC with a bunch of Sega Saturns stacked on top of it with some weird mainframe in the background. Thus offering a million different ways to plug nanites into it. Though they're all networked together by 'Cthulu Brand' internetworking equipment, so it's not like it's that big a difference which you mess with. Most usefully, they seem to have all the data on what's going on on them. Plus... the number 4 button, which has been glued to one of the sides of the keyboards, with the subtitle 'BREAK PROTECTIVE GLASS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY'--yes, it has a glass case over it. Also, I'll be a little unresponsive, but still continuing until we see through to whatever Gelato does here, then pause after that. So continue, Deloth, I'll respond in between doing some mundane stuff (mostly starting the oven for dinner... late dinner... ...yeah I forget to eat way too often during these things)
Gelato: *He jumps into one of the computers, trying to interface with the ship. He must be the ship.*
Metal Man (GM): Being the ship is interesting, because it's a lot of variables flying through your brain at once. There's also a security program that seems to only let you look at the ship. At least, the part that would probably blow everyone up if you interfered with it. On the other hand, no such thing for the "windshield wipers", nor for the music/PA system, or in fact the lighting. Annoyingly, Illian and Borne isolated their parts of the ship, so you can't really mess with them from here. The code itself even screams "HELLO XAVIER, WE FIGURED YOU DIDN'T WANT TO ACCIDENTALLY EXPLODE YOUR OWN SHIP" The Time Engine would be a source of fun too, but Mr. Lincoln disconnected it. However, you can just search for information about what you want to do--that even seems to be Xavier's main use for this terminal. Search and command.
Gelato: @w@ *Search for ways to improve the new nanite neighbors?*
Metal Man (GM): You discover a basic program that would make them capable of being controlled more intelligently by you, and able to go around searching for more programs like it better. The data for it suggests it can be used to download from other computers... specifically those of other advanced people and/or civilizations.
Gelato: *Download!*
Metal Man (GM): *DING!* You obtained: Basic Nanite Module. Allows you to obtain other modules by interacting with technology. Also allows you to send text messages and receive them... if Gelato can comprehend such a concept. XP With that, the data would suggest to Gelato Illian and/or Borne would have what he wants next, and they're both going to be in the Armory... how convenient! Although it also notes you'd need to 'earn' it from them, as they apparently password protect everything. It suggests that Borne's would probably be an enhanced ability to learn things, while Illian's is descriptively said to involve "Shooting lasers"
Gelato: *He excitedly jacks out and runs to Borne, chirping!*
Metal Man (GM): And we'll probably pause with your last action, Deloth, since that seems like a good place to wrap for this session. Yup. That's good, actually. That's what I wanted to pause it on. Session complete. And +3 EXP to Gelato, Kit, Valron, and Nonna. +5 EXP to Walther to help catch him up. Getting a bit more into the groove of things now, which is good, it's been so long...
Metal Man (GM): Introduction. The Questers were on the Wing Fortress. Various small chores and wacky things happened. The Questers resolved to fix up some things to enable them to warp back and forth to Alsa. This would then be done... by talking to Illian. Borne and Xavier and the Questers are walking towards there. (We'll do more Gelato interludes either tonight or whenever Deloth is around. I promise there will be more fighting to help give Deloth more to do though, XP ) And... that's about it actually. Questers walking in to the Armory to discuss with Illian about making a warp to Alsa using the parts Xavier has plus perhaps the Time Engine. Oh, and the ship's still landed on Opus, and ostensibly still 'hot' outside from the events of the previous session... Continuation.
Nonna: *After her frank and serious talks with Illian and Borne, she decided to keep to herself for the most part, staying out of everyone's way.*
Valron: *Isn't really doing anything at the moment aside from pacing around the ship. He doesn't really have much of anything to do, so...*
Metal Man (GM): The Armory is still the Armory, the group able to walk in simply enough. Illian is sitting there, chiseling out a hammer out of a block of metal.
Valron: *Though he does notice the Armory group, pausing for a moment as he sees them walk in. He shrugs, deciding to follow them along, curious as to what's going on.*
Metal Man (GM): Borne and Xavier walk in, looking a bit circumspect about talking to Illian. Illian casually continues chiseling the hammer, not bothering to say anything yet.
Valron: "...So, you two. What exactly is this all about, then? Or are you both just going to be awkward in front of Illian for a few minutes?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, I guess you missed it, but we were going to ask Illian about warping back to Alsa using a chunk of the Warp Room plus the Time Engine's trans-Alsan harmonics."
Valron: "Because while I wouldn't mind seeing how long this can go without cracking up, I'm sure there's some manner of important business, y- Oh."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "However, neither of us really... gets along with him much... we figured one of you could talk to him."
Commander Borne looks around for Kit, wondering if she's around.
Valron: "Even though he can probably hear you well enough? ...Fine, I guess I can handle it."
Illian MacGregor continues chiseling out the hammer, it looks quite nasty and powerful.
Nonna: "...The universe depends on you guys working together. Working and barely tolerating each other being in the same room isn't exactly an admirable position to see you in."
Valron: "Not like I have anything else I need to do. And the sooner I can get back to check up on Ivan and see if he's finished the conversion I requested, the better."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, doing this has a rich history here at Super Smash Q--I mean this organization! There was that time Klumsy and Wolfman hated eachother, and were both administrators. Then me and Yurie didn't care for one another... or me and Julian... or..."
Commander Borne: "What he's trying to say is nobody bothered to resolve these sorts of things in the past."
Nonna: "Let's think about the future."
Valron: *He lightly shakes his head as he makes his way over to Illian.* "Hey. Apologies for interrupting your work, but... Xavier was wondering about the prospect of warping back to Alsa via the usage of a bit of the Warp Room along with the Time Engine's... trans-Alsan harmonics."
Commander Borne: "Perhaps it could be resolved now, but probably slowly, given how Xavier and Illian spent a long time trying to kill one another. Me... it's more practical concerns. Don't want to take up all this time about my own issues."
Illian MacGregor: "Hm?" *Leans back* "That sounds quite dangerous." *He sets the hammer down* "I'm guessing he sent you to talk to me because supposedly, I would know those harmonics."
Valron: "That's about the gist of it, yeah. ...And probably because if I didn't then he'd probably just be awkward around you for the next hour or so. Probably."
Illian MacGregor: "It can be hard to come face to face with one's alternate selves... I have seen enough of myself to last a lifetime, anyway." *He leans on the desk, opening a Metal Cola.* "I... never truly mastered Alsa's harmonics, otherwise I would have ruled it now and we wouldn't be talking to one another. That last minute backstab it did to future me undid everything he was trying to do. I'm trying to recall from the hazy memories... wasn't there somebody else among you who orchestrated that thing that destroyed future me?"
Valron: "Fair, fair. It's still a bit ridiculous to me, regardless, but... that's just the view of an outsider looking in." *He shrugs, before nodding.* "Another good point. In any case, I think so... Let me just go over what I recall. Might take a little while. Lot of memories to sort through and whatnot..." *He idly hums to himself, tapping a finger against his head.*
Metal Man (GM): Valron would recall Kit using The Book to remove Illian's stranglehold on things.
Nonna: *Having said her piece, she leaned against a wall to quietly observe everyone going about doing their things. It was baffling, but she needed to get familiar with her new comrades so there wouldn't be any surprises or misunderstandings down the road.*
Valron: "...Right, right. Now I recall. Kit had utilized Alsa's iteration of The Book to deal with your future self's grasp."
KitRedgrave would just moot Valron's feat of memory. "That would be me. I went ahead and totally robbed future-evil you."
Valron: "...Or she could come in and just re-iterate my point. That also works."
Illian MacGregor: "Well, here's your chance to aid these people here, then. Future me was the one who knew about the harmonics you speak... and he died. What I can do is more basic."
Metal Man (GM): Illian would take out weird looking energy crystals.
Illian MacGregor: "I can stick the components of your machine together. I can't create the energy signature for Alsa warping. The only other one who could do that was the deceased Red Text and the one known as Deloth."
Commander Borne: "...Too bad those insane people that were Questers back then drove Deloth mad."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well then, Kit, uh... ...I've seen you do magic things before. Couldja... ...enchant a crystal with that magic somehow so we don't wind up in Also or Rapland or Tony Roma's when we're trying to warp to Alsa?"
Valron: "...Hm. Maybe we could've salvaged something from Red Text. But then again, for all I know, he probably could've used that as some ridiculous jumping off point to restore himself or something equally obnoxious. So it may as well be for the best that he's destroyed."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Red Text probably would have hacked us and then begun another line of BS, yeah."
KitRedgrave would just bust out that same book. "No need to mess with anything that guy did, we... probably have everything we need here."
Valron: "And there is that, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Plus whenever he lives, he's technically an undead stealing my friend Star Steel's body. He had the same options that Illian had and chose willingly to steal my friend's body. Then had the gall to oppose us trying to change that..."
Illian MacGregor: "You need your resident Book-haver to create an Engram of Alsa."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So they can just casually ask their book-thing to do that, right?"
Illian MacGregor: "No, but here's a crystal to enchant with it so that it doesn't just vanish into thin air."
Metal Man (GM): Illian hands over a turquoise crystal.
KitRedgrave: "Just give me a bit to reinvent the entire field from scra-oh no wait nevermind it's here on page 2,296,101. Sort of."
Metal Man (GM): The book would note the warp saga with Deloth, including noting how Red Text banished warping in/out of Alsa long ago. Xavier would peek over and point at it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "AHA! That's right..."
KitRedgrave would set the crystal down next to the book and have a look.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "If Red Text were alive, he'd block us from warping in!"
Nonna: *Looked increasingly confused by all the names and terms she was entirely unfamiliar with.*
Commander Borne: "...Right, you haven't heard what those are. Red Text was an evil hacker cyborg. Star Steel was some... person... Xavier knew."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "An old Quester, thank you very much."
KitRedgrave: "Evil hacker cyborg book-abuser McCheatyface, more like."
Commander Borne: "The body of Star Steel had been programmed to be Red Text... by the future Illian. Who is dead."
KitRedgrave: "Let me go look up what an 'engram' is and how to do what you're asking..." *Flipflipflipflip.*
Nonna: "Makes... sense."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "In any case, we can get that magic thing..."
Metal Man (GM): KitRedgrave: You see the book explaining how to create a warp to Alsa, noting that the world there was once the 'recycling bin of the universe.'
KitRedgrave: "Oh, so you're more in the loop: this Book was, more or less, the entire history and laws of physics of Alsa along with a bunch of other useful things. Evil future Illian was using this to intentionally screw up my home, so we killed him and took it."
Valron: "Pretty much."
Metal Man (GM): It was moved back to its normal place though, after the residents got fed up with their world being used that way by Time Cops. The engram is noted to have been blocked from availability to outsiders, but for anyone who had been there once before, a complex series of runes on a page would do the trick.
KitRedgrave: "Oh great, it already knows what's up. Okay... doable."
Valron: "Well, that just simplifies things."
KitRedgrave: "Where does the crystal even come in... hm." *More page flipping for an answer.*
Metal Man (GM): It doesn't actually say specifically. Illian leans forward.
Illian MacGregor: "That's a magitek crystal, they don't have those on Alsa. It's just a thing to hold the thing you're making so it sticks around."
Gelato: OwO! *He wakes up from his late, late slumber, his new nanites tickling his brain. BORNE. FIND THINGS TO DO WITH THE ROBOTS AND THEN YAY.*
KitRedgrave: "...oh. Handy. VERY handy. I'll have to ask you how to make those later."
Illian MacGregor: "Also, in case you're wondering, that book is invisible to me... it appears to not want to let me look at it. ...Believe me, the temptation to try and look at it was real, after seeing what my future self did with it."
KitRedgrave: "Huh. I'll have to see why. Later, anyhow... another thing on the long, long list."
Illian MacGregor: "It's fine." *He'd lean back a bit.* "What happened back then happened..."
KitRedgrave: "So how do you use this crystal thing? Does it just power whatever is nearby, do you have to draw with it...?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So we have the Magitek crystal here, and the engram there. I guess Kit would cast the spell on the crystal to make it work."
Illian MacGregor: "Yes, what he said. It's just a storage device."
Valron: "To keep the engram anchored and whatnot."
Illian MacGregor: "You're going to have to go help me find raw materials if you want some truly exciting Magitek... ...but that isn't really your style, anyway."
Valron: "It might be mine, though. Depends on what's on the table."
Illian MacGregor: "Whatever you can think of, within reason, if we can find the old Solarian ships or one of my cast-off Eternal Dauntlesses."
KitRedgrave: "Oh, the explody-boomy kind? It could be... if we need it for some reason. Better leave that to you."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I prefer old VHS decks strapped together with dynamite, phazon and duct tape, but not everyone is wearing their own personal radiation suit."
Valron: "I already have a prospective idea in mind, but I'm saving that for when I actually get my ship back."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato finds his way to Borne, who, coincidentally, is bored by this conversation and looks to Gelato as something more interesting to do.
Commander Borne: "Ah... it's you... ...and also my nanites... ...well, I wasn't going to find my Mad Man-inating program any time soon anyway..."
Nonna joins Borne and Gelato.
Valron: "...Also! Before I forget. Did anyone actually... do anything with Nova after the whole mess with Illian subsided or is he still out there, off his rocker and screaming about NOT Garricks?"
Illian MacGregor: *Puts hand to chin* "To be entirely honest, I don't know."
Valron: "...That's reassuring."
Illian MacGregor: "That was a thing the future me was involved with, and the memories I got from him were incomplete due to transmission errors. Also because some of the memories would just make me him. Something nobody would want."
Valron: "A fair trade."
Commander Borne: "..." *Casually pokes at Gelato, wondering if the nanites make him able to understand what he's saying or talk to him.*
Valron: "I was wondering because I could just repurpose him as my own ship's AI if we found him again once I got it back and... well. Fixed him up. Or, if I were to be completely ridiculous, put him in that one broken device I still carry around... After, you know. Getting it fixed up again."
KitRedgrave would go for the traditional rune-drawing... graph paper and pencil. Maybe not so much traditional, but much nicer than the old ways once one learns how.
Valron: "...Really, the point is I need to get back to Alsa. And that I have a lot of broken junk I need to fix up at some point."
Gelato: *Apparently he does not have a volume control on the nanites.*
Commander Borne: *Winces* "Uh... ...okay, that will work..."
Nonna: "...Well that's peculiar."
Metal Man (GM): The runes make a funny looking round portal. In fact, the portal looks like a... paper stargate.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Huh... that looks oddly familiar..."
Valron: "...Well, as long as it works, right?"
Illian MacGregor: "...Of course, it being made of paper, it will probably combust after one use." *He would contemplate.* "But you can't inscribe all those runes on a tiny crystal with a scribing device..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I knew I should have invented a shrinking ray! Either that, or mark up something made out of metal... ...then again, I'm not sure if it's easy to do that."
Illian MacGregor: "The material used to inscribe runes tends to increase the cost of doing it."
Metal Man (GM): *Kit would use 1 EP to create the paper Stargate.*
Nonna blinks, watching the two silently communicating with each other.
Gelato: *He bounces over to everyone, quite excitedly.*
Commander Borne: *Glances to Nonna* "Oh... right. ...He is part nanomachine now, so we can communicate electronically. So can you, with the box I gave you. Just flip it open and it should show up."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I hear Fat Albert saying things in the back of my mind."
KitRedgrave: "Yep. That's why we would always just draw them in the dirt and hope they work."
Valron: "...No, that's just Gelato. ...Wait, when did."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I don't recall Gelato having a silver belly like that before."
Nonna: "...Huh." *Dull surprise. It was like nothing could surprise her anymore.*
Commander Borne: "...Yes, you're starting to get used to how insane this place is, Nonna." *Rubs his forehead* "The sad part is, it wasn't that much more logical back on Alsa..."
Valron: "Well, good to see she's quick to adapt."
Gelato: *MIX: Paper Gate + Crystal.*
Metal Man (GM): Kit would watch the paper disk get merged with the crystal. A few moments later, a turquoise machine would show up that was Stargate-ish. A bit smaller due to the crystal being small, but about large enough for an adult to duck into.
Nonna: "So how do I say something back?"
Commander Borne: "...Type into the box, I believe... yes, that should work. I haven't expected to use it for that purpose, but it should do."
KitRedgrave: "Gelato can understand whatever crazy universal language we speak too."
Valron: "Pretty much."
Commander Borne: "...We can eventually convince Gelato to eat some sort of speech synthesizer."
KitRedgrave: "...I think. Needs some experimentation."
Nonna types "Hello Gelato. You are cuter than usual today."
Gelato: X3 *He bounces around, looking immensely pleased!*
KitRedgrave: "Also, that is amazing."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Okay... we have an actual device... let's drag it out to the Time Engine to give it power."
KitRedgrave: "We could never figure out transmutation in my time, so it's great to see that it can even be done."
Illian MacGregor: "Hm... I'll be sure to write down some Gelato... I mean some Magitek requests, if you wish to create even more things like this... I never thought to try this before..."
Valron: "...Hmm. This does give me an idea on something I could do with the cube, but I'm not sure if it'd work... I'll think on it later. Anyways, we've got a device to power up."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yup." *Starts rolling the 'gate' over to the Bridge.*
Valron: *And so begins the walk bridge-wards.*
Metal Man (GM): The gate rolls into the Big Ro--Bridge. Lincoln is sitting there, as he stares at the gate.
Lincoln: "You people really do collect the strangest things."
Nonna: "So, Borne. What do your future plans hold?" *Out of the blue while everyone else is preoccupied.*
Gelato: *X3* *He bounces in behind Valron, making little musical chirps.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Sets the Stargate there* "Well, it's not so much 'collect' as it is 'make' ..."
Commander Borne: "Well, I wish to... hmmm..."
Valron: "Though we do a good bit of both."
Commander Borne: "Part of it really was that I wanted to create some sort of peace of my own, somewhere... I had always been out of place on Alsa."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now to hook this up to the engine."
Lincoln: "That's a warp gate... why are you hooking it up to the unstable time engine?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "To open a portal to a world of chaos, naturally."
KitRedgrave: "If anything, things were wrong. We'll get you a place to be in no time."
Nonna: "Part?"
Lincoln: "I'm glad I cleaned out the warp-distributor on this engine a few hours ago."
Valron: "So, is the bug with tangentially-related people fixed, or...?"
Commander Borne: "Well, the other part is... ...a bit more basic." *He would look down at himself.* "I was, I always was a machine. I don't particularly like the fact that I'm the odd thing out in every group I'm in."
Lincoln: "Oh, yes. I don't see that weird man with the top hat anymore. I was almost done as you rolled that in..." *Straightens some pieces and closes a box* "There, completely done."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Good... ...do you want to stay or go?"
Lincoln: "I think I don't want to be here when you turn that thing on."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Can't blame you. Anyone who hasn't seen our workmanship probably has no clue what happens."
Lincoln: "And I need to get back to the shop. More jobs, you know... you kinda took out our competition."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh... right... right."
Lincoln: "Just call me when... ...I mean if you break it again."
Nonna: "So you have a mechanical structure underneath rather than bone."
Valron: "Yeah, I figured. Good to see work's already rolling in for you, in any case."
KitRedgrave: "Thank you very much for helping us. Hopefully we'll go a week without breaking it."
Lincoln: "It's hard to break, so I bet it will take more than a week. Not more than a year though... you people are truly crazy. But that's good, since before you came along, nobody had the guts to tick off a multigalactic corporation."
Nonna waves to Lincoln if she can see him departing.
Valron: "We're in the business of being a thorn in the side of the absurdly powerful."
Metal Man (GM): *Nonna could see him, yes... through some viewing portholes and/or holes in the inner hull.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's a family business."
Lincoln: "I guess I'm glad you didn't make me an offer I couldn't refuse... See you." *He would nod, then walk off the ship.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So, we got that cleared up... time to open the portal... ...does anyone have anything to do on Alsa, by the way?"
Metal Man (GM): Borne would hear all that and gesture for Nonna to follow, as he'd walk over towards the Bridge.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Looks at Gelato, then types into his smash dex.*
Nonna: *Follows Borne to the Bridge.* "...Oh."
Valron: "Nothing on Alsa, exactly. I still need to check back up on Ivan, though, as I've said time and again. See if he's finished work on the ship-mech."
KitRedgrave: "What /DON'T/ we have left to do...?"
Gelato: "..." o.o?
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Glances at his dex* "Oh, shoot, I left the dex in English mode again." *Switches it to Metalese Squared.*
Commander Borne: "We need to settle some accounts on Alsa, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well then, let's wire it in." *Takes out duct tape and wires and strings them between the engine's alternator and the Warp room fragment and then the gate.*
Valron: "Though, yes. I'm sure there's still a bundle of general unfinished business."
Commander Borne: "...Don't smoke or start open flames near that thing he's making, it's liable to catch on fire."
KitRedgrave: "...One day we need to figure out a better way to wire that in."
