Xavier Ridgecrest: "I guess you guys can clean up my work when I'm done... that's what always happens."
Nonna: "Alsa, huh..." *She pondered that while they got it working.*
Metal Man (GM): He slams components in sloppily, and the gate glows oddly. He then pushes a bunch of buttons on the Warp room fragment.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "All right, the gate is ready... ...anybody need anything before we go?"
Nonna: "Should we be wearing radiation suits?"
Valron: "Nothing I can think of, no."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sadly, I didn't get to use any phazon on this."
Commander Borne: "Magitek could be radioactive, but stargates require the material they're made out of to be DEPLETED of radioactivity. ...Also the Time Engine emits time radiation, which may either doom us all or do nothing. No one has ever been able to finish a study on it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I had it in here the entire time we were fighting Illian!"
Commander Borne: "...Then I guess there's nothing to worry about."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah, unless you're worried about epic space battles."
Commander Borne: "Also, I am... not going in there, I must stay away from Alsa."
KitRedgrave: "What, us worry?"
Commander Borne: "It would be destabilizing for me to go there."
KitRedgrave: "Heh. Destabilizing. You know what we're planning to do."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You can probably mix on Alsa, Gelato."
Commander Borne: "Yes, but it's best I arrive after you've finished the preliminary phases. Otherwise, the remnants of people there might get the wrong idea."
Nonna: "Want me to look into anything while we're there?"
KitRedgrave: "Guess so. Okay, we'll send for you when we're ready."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier finishes pushing the button. The portal opens, and... ...nope. No psychotic Garrick shooting everyone. No Klumsy either. Not even Kuja. The portal glows, seemingly devoid of any travelers waiting to exit it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... who goes first?"
Commander Borne: "I'd say you should look to see how GUN is doing, Nonna. Make sure the people who I had succeed me aren't making a mess."
Nonna: "Okay. I'll be the guinea pig, then."
Commander Borne: "It's for the best that my death in the name of Alsan freedom remain true, so that I can remain a martyr and unite otherwise squabbling factions."
Gelato: *He promptly hops into the gate.*
Nonna steps forward and takes a deep breath--and watches Gelato go in first, shrugs, and follows.
Valron gatewards, ho!
Xavier Ridgecrest walks directly into the gate like it's a limbo pole.
Metal Man (GM): The other side... is a dim cave, full of objects laying around. Dust lays about as it appears to be some sort of lab, given that there's some lit up lamps and electronics ahead. ???, Alsa The Stargate you walk out of is a full size one, made of silver material and with a bunch of spinning components on it. It looks like it was hastily dumped here, given you walk out of it a bit sideways.
KitRedgrave can't resist a bit of unknown adventure, and decides to go along as well for right now.
Valron: "...Welll, now. Not the most graceful exit, but I'm glad it actually works right."
Nonna: *Getting up after apparently landing on her face* "I'll say."
Metal Man (GM): The lab has some more lit up objects up ahead. The cave itself smells a bit dank, lie there's water somewhere in here.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I wish I had a better memory, I forget what this place is... if I have even been here before."
Nonna: "So this is Alsa. Can't say I'm a fan of its interior decorating culture."
Valron: "I'm... not entirely sure if I've been here before, either."
KitRedgrave: "This... isn't indicative of Alsa at all. This is some sort of cave."
Valron: "Hm..." *He ponders to himself for a moment, before going to make his way down the path.*
Metal Man (GM): Down the way, it becomes a bit more clear what's here, as a sort of large area lit up with a bunch of fluorescent lights shows that a bunker door has sealed off the wide open mouth of this cave.
KitRedgrave would have made sure to bring the book beforehand! Maybe we'll get to see some total bullhonkey^W^Wperfectly balanced combat.
Gelato: *owo* *He follows at the back of the group, looking around at the objects and water and lights and such.*
Metal Man (GM): And at the center of a bunch of computers with monitors on them, illuminated in the dark, is a two-tailed fox, snoozing and leaning back in his chair.
Valron: "...Oh. Huh. Good to see a familiar face. Even if he's out like a light."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier would casually hang around the back of the group, being careful not to crush anything he steps on.
Nonna: "Not a foe, I presume?"
KitRedgrave: "...He's familiar? Never seen him before."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I swear... this room is almost as cluttered as my Bridge..."
Valron: "Well, familiar to me, anyways."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Except it's all wrong... this isn't my mess-based filing scheme at all... ...look at that, there's even a label on that box..."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier points at a box of 'military rations' with the neat handwriting on it as if decent labeling is the sign of the apocalypse.
KitRedgrave would just have a look around the fox's setup. "Pretty nice, for being stuck in a cave because the world's over."
Metal Man (GM): The sleeping person slowly wakes up and yawns, looking to the group of you.
Nonna: "Hi."
???: "..... ." *He would almost reach for some sort of weird cobbled together boxing glove on his desk, but pause when he sees Kit, and set it down.*
Valron: *He shakes his head at Xavier, before going to... Oh. He's awake. Never mind that, then. He just kinda... waves.* "...Oh, hello, Tails."
Tails: "Wait... ...you're actually here... this isn't just another nightmare..."
KitRedgrave would totally not even notice that the strange fox is awake until he talks, and then immediately whirls around! ^o.o7!
Valron: "Last I checked, this is completely real, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'll take a nightmare over that weird land of happy children we visited once. ...right, I'm the only survivor of that mission."
Valron: "...Don't mind him. He's always like that."
Nonna: "I'm sure you were."
Tails: "It's okay, he kind of reminds me of Big... and Shadow... ...I think I remember you, you're... Questers, right?" *Hears a beep and takes out his Tails-comp* "Huh... a being made of goo that can talk to computers... ...eh, not too odd." *He types out a bunch of binary by hand that says [hello] to Gelato* "I assume you've come here for more than admiring this cave, haven't you?"
Valron: "Yeah. He just figured that out... a few minutes ago, apparently? Don't ask me how, though."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well now that you mention it, you do have an unsettling ability to label everything and organize it alphabetically."
Tails: "I see you even brought another Mobian with you, which is interesting. It's about time someone came here... Angel Island has been deserted for a long time."
KitRedgrave: "Mobian. Mobius? Is that what you call it now?"
Tails: "Yes. ...You know, I was about to ask, the fact you're here makes me very curious."
Nonna: "Is there not a faction here which could... make it not deserted?" *To avoid bringing up GUN directly by name lest it's a taboo here, she fished for answers.*
Tails: "Well, that's what I was getting to. The Mobians were all in hiding long before even GUN's people went into hiding. But this person here... ...uhh, sorry for being so rude, what's your name?" *He points at Kit.*
KitRedgrave: "No need to be sorry, I hadn't asked you that either." *She bows a bit.* "Catherine Redgrave, at your service."
Tails: "Nice to meet you. I'm Tails... the rest of my name is a bit embarrassing, heheh..." *Rubs the back of his head* "I haven't seen many other Mobians in a long time, because we kinda made a mistake when we did send them off. We... ...forgot to keep good track of where they went."
KitRedgrave: "Ah. I hear it's pretty terrible up there..."
Tails: "We get data back that indicates they're all right, but we can't warp them back. That's what that gate you came through was here for."
Valron: "...Hm. I see."
Tails: "Long before everything got out of hand, Sonic and I helped send everyone other than those insane echidnas to a safe place. It's safe now, but... ...I still can't find out where they are. It doesn't help that that Illian person ruined a lot of the planet... or Jack..." *Sighs.*
Valron: "...Don't remind me. I still feel a bit dirty for having helped him in the first place."
Nonna: "GUN is in hiding, hm. So they're an inert force at the moment." *More to herself than actually speaking to anyone.*
Tails: "Borne sent them into hiding to avoid their death by Sloan and Illian. He succeeded... not that I'm terribly happy about that, because his people seem to be capable of coming back, whereas I managed to botch what I did..."
Metal Man (GM): Tails takes out an old notebook, one now fanatically covered in writing.
Tails: "We were in such a hurry we didn't fully document where we sent them, so this coordinate is off. The problem is, there's millions of other addresses in that thing, so we can't find them by just randomly dialing. There could be a black hole on the other end for all we know. It was outside of Alsa too, which means it's very expensive to use the warp."
Metal Man (GM): He gestures to the Master Emerald, which is sitting beside the gate, hence why you couldn't see it earlier.
Tails: "You're lucky nobody else comes through that... might have not been enough energy otherwise."
KitRedgrave: "That's some equipment you got there, but yeah... We can probably help you find them."
Tails: "Where did you come from, anyway? The coordinate you had was never written anywhere, not even in the ancient hieroglyphic storage device that came with our gate."
KitRedgrave: "We had came from... what was it called? Some planet on the outside."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Opus."
Valron: "Opus, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's just outside the boundaries of Alsa and Nintendus."
Tails: "You made it out there... did you use a Stargate?"
Valron: "We made a device that functions as such back on our ship, yes."
Nonna: "More or less."
Tails: "Er, I mean, how did you get outside of Alsa and Nintendus to there originally? Was that also a Stargate?"
Valron: "No, we didn't use a Stargate for that."
KitRedgrave: "We kind of punched a hole in reality and went for it."
Tails: "Since if you have one that goes outside like that... oh." *He sighs.* "If we had a second one, you know..."
Valron: "We... kinda had to break through a pretty nasty barrier."
Nonna: "Technology has really progressed lately."
Tails: "But then again, if you can get out there under your own power... That means you could probably just visit the area here by yourself. Once you get outside the realm, it's cheaper to fly with space ships than Stargate from place to place. Especially given the horde of you there seems to be..." *He goes to hand Kit the addresses.* "That should limit it to within one starsystem. They send the radar signals as noted there. If you could check that out, I'd be eternally grateful... then again, you probably would be too. Otherwise we're liable to be about the only mobians on all of Alsa left."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What about Sonic?"
Tails: "He's been missing since back then too. He went into the portal I made to go after them... I think he showed up again once, then vanished again. I get the feeling he's been looking for them... you'll probably find him out there. I warned him against it, but you know how he is... er, if you know him, that is."
Valron: "...Sounds like quite the mess, to say the least."
KitRedgrave: "We'll get them back. But first maybe we should get a better picture of what went on here, and how we can set things right so they have a place to come back to."
Metal Man (GM): Tails glances to Gelato.
Tails: "It might be useful to create a device to find him... if you find useful pieces... oh... you want to know about here, do you?"
Gelato: *Nodnod.*
Metal Man (GM): Tails gets out of the chair and abruptly walks to the huge door, clicking a button on it. The gigantic hangar doors slowly open. A sky lit by sunset can be seen, highlighting a view of a massive world. Before you sits lasered and melted ruins of the Echidna civilization. There's a bunch of weird gaudy looking corpses wearing weird armor made out of stop signs and poorly painted fireman helmets. And some Echidna ones too. They're all skeletons, by now. The area looks like it was exploded from the sky. You can even see an Illian ship smashed into a nearby mountain.
Gelato: "..." *He shrinks away, behind Valron's heels.*
Valron: "...Wow. That's... Certainly not what I was expecting."
Metal Man (GM): Down below, you can see the Mobian Continent: It looks a bit greener, but the buildings look lopsided and covered in foliage. The skyscrapers, that is.
Valron: "Is... Is the rest of the world like that?"
KitRedgrave just stares at the ruins. "...Wow. The crazy bastard really did try to kill everybody, did he?"
Tails: "The GUN people have begun to emerge in the city down there. The stuff you did changed that other side of the world, where I've heard the Corallians or whatever are back... but you can't see them from here."
Metal Man (GM): He turns on a monitor and shows a futuristic city really far away on another continent.
Tails: "That Mushroom Republic place is okay, I think, too... ...bit of damage from where they encountered Illian's forces... Most of the destruction was around here. At night, some of those corpses come to life and try to attack. That's what the doors are about."
Valron: "Glad to see that I managed some good in spite of having to work with Illian for a bit if those Corallian fellows are doing well enough... In any case, hm. I see."
Nonna: *Looking strangely unaffected by the ruin* "Sounds like this is going to be a long job."
Tails: "Yes... we need to get the Mobians back before those GUN people can recoup too much. They'll take over the continent again if we leave it empty. I wouldn't blame them."
Valron: "What is up with GUN, anyways?"
Tails: "Their leaders were told by Borne the apocalypse was coming. They fled to an -X-Zone... then Sloan found them and they fled even further away. I've heard there's some group called the Sons of Borne who against all odds fought off Sloan's forces and managed to save the civilians from being killed. They have been sending scouts about here. They don't seem hostile to me, but they don't like me either. They keep demanding my Stargate and Emerald. They can't seem to understand those two things are needed... but they keep going on about 'Stupid dead Echidnas' and 'Where is Garrick.'"
KitRedgrave: "...I have a question for you, and it might sound sort of cryptic. Do you prefer to know the entire truth even if it's uncomfortable, or to be happy if it makes no difference either way?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well I know they won't find him. Or if they do, I have some C-4 to attach to Garrick's face."
Tails: "Well... let's put it this way, Catherine. I've seen everything I know destroyed at least three times, so the truth isn't likely to shock me any more than the other three times everything I knew was upended... besides, I want to know the truth. Science is important... asking questions doubly so."
Nonna: "How do the so-called Sons of Borne get along with the GUN remnants?"
KitRedgrave: "Heh heh." *She has a grin on her face, like that was the right choice. So much for guile.* "Then I'll tell you something after we're done with this line of discussion."
Tails: "The Sons of Borne, or... well... .uh... we kinda call them Sobs for a reason..."
Valron: "Yeah, I had a feeling that was the case."
Tails: "They're tough, and seem psychotically devoted to upholding the example Borne went. The GUN remnants are subservient to them, due to the last true blue GUN person vanishing. It's really more of Borne's organization now, even though he isn't here. They sort of work in his name. Probably for the best he's dead, though. They all have differing ideas of how to do his work. Some are actually quite peaceful. Others seem to like setting up intricate dominoes made of explosions. It's a real problem, because you never know who you're going to get when you call them..." *Sighs.*
Valron: "Sounds like the ones we want to get to are the ones who don't like to make intricate explosion chains for fun. Because, y'know. They sound more sensible."
Tails: "Yep... don't ask me how, though. Several of the explosion ones were here a while back... they blew up a bunch of ancient Echidna shrine ruins 'for fun.' That's when the corpses began re-animating."
Valron: "...Oh, well that explains it. Idiots desecrated a shrine."
Tails: "I've heard rumors that some of the Echidnas still live, even. Just that they moved to another remote area closer to the Corallians."
Valron: "Does nobody ever realize that it's a terrible idea?"
Tails: "They created a new cult, too. The Kragok person they once worshiped had failed them, according to their prophecies. They now worship someone named... Kuji? Or was it Flaeyn?"
Valron: "...You're kidding. Please tell me you're joking."
Nonna: "Someone you know?"
Valron: "Yes, and I almost want to destroy them out of principle."
Tails: "No, I'm not. The older Echidnas got killed off in the giant fire, so... the younger, rasher ones decided to worship what they called 'The Cool Guys.'"
Valron: "...Words are failing me right now."
Tails: "Luckily they also left this continent, so for the first time I don't have to worry about them trying to sacrifice me to avenge some slight my great great great great great grandfather did against Kragok."
Valron: "I almost kinda wish they didn't so I could hear about how they uselessly imploded against things, but... It's never that easy."
Nonna: "So we won't have to worry about getting involved with... Kuji Flaeyn or whoever while we're looking into the other messes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Those people they mention either died or vanished, so no. It's like worshiping dead people."
Tails: "Kragok was also dead, so, yes... they tend to worship dead people... It's no wonder they ended up creating that unholy spear of death that Jack once used. For all we know, their great ceremony was to kill their most beloved leaders so they could be worshiped forever."
Valron: "That still seems like a step down, but... That's... I'm just kinda flabbergasted, sorry."
Nonna: "Having too many fronts open at once would be a disaster anyway."
Tails: "Well, I've heard rumors the old King is somewhere in the ruins, either alive or undead somehow... Apparently they had an argument with him before they went off to worship the 'Cool Guys' in their 'Ultimate Battle Fortress' far away from here..."
Valron: "The more you talk about them, the less I like them. Is that normal?"
Nonna: "Cults tend to do that."
Valron: "No, I mean. Even outside of usual cult rubbish."
Tails: "Well, they said they wish to become truly like the legendary Flaeyn and Kuji, according to them."
Valron: "...Well, all they need to do is just harass artifacts until they barf up hordes of zombies and get everyone to hate them."
Tails: "I think there was somebody named Haruto some of them wanted to also be like, but they complained about a lack of written record about the person."
Valron: "That's seriously it."
Tails: "Some of them suggested worshiping Keikyoku and his son, but apparently they decided he wasn't cool enough. Something about being afraid of wigs or something."
Valron: "Oh, great. What's next? Are they going to suggest mass-producing- Oh. I was almost hoping I'd see them all in rainbow House of Lords wigs."
Nonna: "There isn't an asylum with enough staff..."
Valron: "That would've at least lightened the mood."
Tails: "Also in case it means anything to you, the devil in their little religion is named Julian. He is referenced as the Most Uncool Dude."
Valron: "...Ahahaha. Oh, this is just getting more and more ridiculous. I almost want to see this failure parade now."
Tails: "They claim that Julian was once a cool dude, but then he was shot in the face by a jelly donut, and became uncool. ...I got really bored and recorded the strange things they kept saying outside my door when they tried to recruit me to their cult."
Valron: "Worth a good laugh, at least."
Tails: "Since they figured I knew some of the Cool Dudes and therefore could be a priest or something... ...no thanks... Anyway... that's what's here. I'm unsure if you guys have any more pressing objectives? Or wait... I was being told something, that's right." *Looks to Kit.*
Nonna: "I wonder if this goes beyond normal cuiltish insanity... maybe they were exposed to harmful toxins also? All sorts of things can influence the brain."
KitRedgrave: "Well... I suppose I should start with this. The Illian you knew is dead."
Tails: "It's been said they visited the ruins of a Stadium in Westopolis that was full of strange energy that had rotted over time."
Valron: "It sounds more like they were desperate for a sense of direction, more than anything else."
Tails: "...Well that's not so surprising. Illian's forces just vanished. The Solarians and other ships he had, seemed about ready to conquer and kill us all. Then they were gone. I had partially made the door because of that. They had already taken over the island at the time."
Valron: "...And that old thing's still around? I'd have thought the energy would have been nullified by now..."
Tails: "Well, I don't think the energy they absorbed was useful energy, if you get my drift, Valron. It probably was the... garbage energy..."
Valron: "...Ah. That... explains a lot."
KitRedgrave: "That's not even the best part. You probably won't believe this, but we were the ones to do it. Took breaking the laws of reality itself into little tiny bits."
Nonna: "Through voluntary drugs... contaminated food and/or water supply, radioactive environment, or wearing lead makeup. It could be anything. Or that."
Valron: "Felt like it took months, though."
Tails: "...And how did you get rid of Illian by breaking reality? Don't worry, I have experience in this." *Coughs* "Time Eater..." *Coughs again.*
KitRedgrave: "Well, you might wanna sit down for this because I'm gonna tell you some things that will totally shake your faith in this reality. Well, more so than just saying we broke it apart over a fight."
Tails: "...It's okay. The time we were invaded by psychotic men in firemen garb from outer space sort of shook it already." *Sits in his chair again.*
KitRedgrave: "Okay. The thing is, the source of Illian's impossible power over everything was... this." *He pulls out the Book.*
Tails: "...This better not be the 1001 Nights all over again."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What? Somebody else has had strange reality warping adventures?"
Tails: "There's a reason I have a Stargate... ...but I feel dumb for not expecting the same thing to be going on here." *Sighs* "Go on."
KitRedgrave: "As it turns out, this world -- our home -- was entirely constructed just as a TRAINING EXERCISE for Questers. And this book is, to use an unfamiliar phrase, the 'control panel'...?"
Tails: "...Now I wish it was another 1001 Nights all over again."
KitRedgrave: "Yes. Really. Only reason was to train Questers. Who kept failing over and over. He thought he could get better results just by upping the ante. You and me both."
Tails: "Who was he, again? I knew this world had been converted into a 'reject bin' by the Time Cops, but I didn't know it went quite so far as that."
KitRedgrave: "Illian, leader of the Questers. Or, some horrible deranged group taking the same name."
Valron: "He was the leader of the group at one point, yes."
Tails: "Hm... so that's the Silver Man that was sighted so much before. Since ancient history notes of a silver man being seen in the skies. And we asked your Xavier if he was it, and he didn't really understand what we were talking about."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I definitely would have remembered that."
KitRedgrave: "Also incidentally a Time Cop who had defected, if I remember correctly. Thing was, he wasn't SUCH a jerk at first..."
Tails: "Usually that sort of person goes through a progression before they go completely insane. Even Eggman did..."
KitRedgrave: "Abusing this thing..." *She thumps the book.* "...and repeated failures drove him to be totally, stupidly powerful evil."
Tails: "...Hm... should we burn that thing, then? I fear what would happen if that happened again... ...or if he came back to life again, you know? They always come back to life. ..." *Holds up a Smash dex* "Yes, I read the contents of this entire thing while I was sitting here."
KitRedgrave: "The thing is, he went evil because he ABUSED it... wow."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hey! That's... ...probably Julian's Smash Dex or something."
Valron: "...Eesh. Definitely isn't mine."
KitRedgrave: "Wow. I like you already. Anyway."
Tails: "Julian used the Stargate to leave this world. He didn't want it."
Valron: *He holds his out.* "I've... still had mine from way back when I first joined. This is probably more of a museum piece than anything else. Or something found at the bottom of a junk heap. One of the two, I'm sure."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Mine is newer!" *Holds up hideously ancient thing that says SUPER SMASH MELEE QUESTERS* "...Kidding."
KitRedgrave: "Not often people just sit down and READ THE MANUAL. Anyway anyway, being possessed by and later out-eviling an evil demon thing possessing him probably didn't help matters either. That probably would've doomed him, book or no book."
Valron: "Pretty much."
Tails: "I'm glad you glossed over the evil demon part. I've seen too many evil demons to really be interested in what they are doing. They're always pointless. There's one for every thing that happens, and they're always possessing people."
KitRedgrave: "Yeah, it's kinda played out."
Tails: "Granted, the Arbiter did warn me the planet is still possessed by one last evil demon, that we need to get rid of somehow."
Valron: "...Also, ah. I just realized something. If this is Angel Island... Then, have you heard anything about sightings of something that looks like a Reploid or a black cloud of fog? They're... effectively harmless, but I just remembered that we... kinda left them behind after the whole battle played out."
KitRedgrave: "So, after all that recap my point is: ... Huh? We missed one?"
Tails: "But I figure we can probably figure out a better way with that object of incredibly dangerous power you have in your hands. Uh... hmmmm... I don't recall seeing any weird reploids around here. Their continent was destroyed and I don't think anybody fully cleaned that mess up yet."
KitRedgrave: "Oh, yeah! That goes right in with what I about to say. We can totally just fiat out a lot of this horrible tragic history and replace it like nothing happened."
Tails: "Are you sure?" *He rubs his chin.* "It might be dangerous to do without those Mobians back here. I doubt it can control outside the dimension... Though we can probably use it to reverse the most obvious destruction first. This world's history has blurred into a mess from the latest events, anyway, so I wouldn't mind resetting some of it... otherwise I'll never be certain who's dead and who's alive anymore."
Valron: "A good starting point, at the very least."
KitRedgrave: "It can't, we tried. It's useful, but doesn't have total dominion over the rest of the multiverse. We can clean up, yes."
Tails: "Good... ...so. Are you going to start now, or do you have anything else you need to find out about here first?"
KitRedgrave: "There is one small detour I'd like to do, how bout the rest of you?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I never got to do much on this planet. Garrick decided it was his. His reaction to me getting near it was like wandering into the territory of a possessive rhino."
KitRedgrave: "Not sure there's much left to do. Being nuked out kind of dampens the nightlife..."
Tails: "I've heard rumors of a single Garrick wondering this place, but apparently it's a clone. And doesn't seem to do anything."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, we could probably visit that sparkling tech place the next time we need repairs. Not right now though, we need cash first."
Nonna: *Shrugs* "I got lost long ago in the conversation."
Tails: "Don't worry too much... uh... what's your name?" *Points to Nonna.*
Nonna: "Nonna."
Tails: "If what we do is correct, you won't need to have learned what most of that was about, Nonna. The only thing to know here is... hm, you seemed to know about GUN, if you do go down there, could you try to reason with them? They are kind of... discriminatory against foxes, you know. And all other Mobians, even... Either you or maybe that goo being could eat their radio systems so they can't figure out what they're doing anymore and have to go hide for another 10 months. I blew up their radio the last time, the crazier one of the Sobs wanted to blow up my hangar. They got lost and the Cool Guys attacked them."
Nonna: "We may yet have a trump card against them. I hope it does not come to violence."
Tails: "Oh yeah, that's all you need to know. There's Corallians--who are futuristic people off to the side... the aforementioned 'Cool Guys' who are anything but that, and the GUN and SOBs. And us, of course. Sloan's forces left long ago, but be wary if you do find any of them. I've been told his forces are so insane they don't stop fighting until dead."
Nonna: "...and there's undeads around."
Valron: "It isn't night yet, so I don't think we have to worry about those just yet..."
Tails: "Which means some of them around here probably won't go away until that temple is cleaned up... that's why I haven't left here very often."
KitRedgrave: "Right then. First order should be to deal with them."
Valron: "Also, Sloan's forces only stop fighting when they're dead? I'm surprised he hadn't made sure they fight beyond death."
Tails: "Well, sometimes his forces continue fighting, but I've been told he somehow magically recalled the ones made to fight beyond death."
KitRedgrave: "Are they even on Alsa anymore?"
Valron: "Guess he took those for himself when he fled."
KitRedgrave: "You know what? Let me just look that up." *Flipflip.*
Tails: "No. The last of the leftovers were apparently rescued after Illian vanished."
Metal Man (GM): The book indicates a handful of them got stranded. Sloan snuck in to rescue some of them. Lower level assets were left to die. Although the book notes there might have been one or two rebel Sloan commanders who decided to make a living here, and could be out there, alive or dead. It notes it can't get a precise fix on them due to the interference from the planet core's demonic possession.
KitRedgrave: "...Right. Reminds me. Core's still totally evil, we should look into that too."
Valron: "Might want it to be one of the first things to look into."
Metal Man (GM): Valron would notice his Mad Man mark glowing. It appears to have recognized he's back here by now.
KitRedgrave: "There's like one or two commanders left, but if we even SEE THEM they're infinity times dead."
Valron: "...Oh, right. This thing's back in commission." *He hums to himself, idly looking the mark over.* "Still only like... a half-mark, all thing considered, but."
Nonna: "...what's that?"
KitRedgrave: "Yeah. Okay. We go clean up the core, make things a little less hellscapeish up here, then go hunt down the Mobians. Sound good?"
Valron: "Sloan should still have the other half, if I recall right... Doubt he dropped it on his way out."
KitRedgrave: "Well, after I go see one thing."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It sounds good to me. And/or, I never really got into this planet before, so it's all new to me."
Valron: "Which makes me wonder if we could track him based off of that, but... I doubt it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh, I did hit some people with golf clubs, but I had no clue what they were. Then there was that time we handcuffed Garrick to the chair. That was a fun time."
Tails: "Oh, by the way, do you have any idea how to get around here? We're kind of... up in the air. I don't think your portal can warp ships in here, either."
KitRedgrave would rustle a few pages looking something up in the geography section, current time...
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well I... uh... ...I don't have any clue actually. Even my car couldn't fit through there."
Metal Man (GM): Kit would see some bullet point indicating some ancient city in the middle of the GUN Continent/Mobian Continent.
KitRedgrave: "...it's still here. Somehow!"
Metal Man (GM): It only notes the location, being unable to get a proper fix on what's going on from this distance.
KitRedgrave: "Maybe. It's always uneasy when I see missing information in here..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I hope that's a good thing, because I'd hate to discover that Charles' Temple of Darkness was here all along."
KitRedgrave looks up. "You guys feel like making an archeological expedition?" He worriedly looks for just such a thing!
Nonna: "Sure, why not."
KitRedgrave: "Fun? Depends... I have no idea what's going on there. Never a good sign, but I really can't just clean everything up without KNOWING first! ...Oh. Do we have any overland transport here? Some sort of aircraft maybe? Aircraft. Funny word. Anyway."
Tails: "You could... ...all simultaneously hang on to the Tornado IV... ...that probably wouldn't work though."
Nonna: "We could always construct one if not. I saw it on a program once."
Tails: "Oh... ...hmmm... there's a couple options, actually."
KitRedgrave: "Oh what am I thinking??? I can just write one."
Valron: "Lay them out, then."
KitRedgrave: "Rather not have to unless we must."
Tails: "Like, there's a crashed Illian ship, and it still has fighters inside it." *Looks to Kit* "Well, Illian wrote everything he needed, did he not? ...So we don't want to become like him, basically."
KitRedgrave: "Right. Want to keep it to only what we absolutely have to."
Tails: "There's also some crashed Echidna ships. They're really ancient and dead, though."
Valron: "I'd rather try my luck with the Illian fighters, to be honest..."
Tails: "Finally, one of Borne's ships crashed on the edge of the island. It's a bit out of the way and surrounded by undead, but probably is in the best shape, if you want something larger."
Valron: "Though, the Borne ship also sounds like a good option. Hordes of zombies I don't mind too badly. I do have something for clusters, after all..." *He pulls out his Rail-Cannon.*
KitRedgrave: "They're... one-seat things, fighters? Right? That could be a problem."
Valron: "If I can find a good position, I could probably just snipe at the hordes with this."
Tails: "Solarian Fighters... uhhh... generally had about two seats I think... they were even spaceworthy. Though unfortunately probably don't have a ton of fuel. Especially since something happened to make their supernatural magitek stop being so... supernatural."
Valron: "Our fault, probably. We broke whatever Sad Elephantium that made them work. Or, well. Have such ludicrous fuel efficiency."
Tails: "You could probably use them to get to the continent, and back, then that's about it."
Valron: "What's the Borne ship like?"
KitRedgrave: "Maybe, if that's our best option."
Tails: "I know it sounds miraculously exact to what you need, but let's just say I've used some. They have technically 3 trips in them, but the third trip is the last one it'll ever take if you try it... unstable materials in them."
Valron: "I'm thinking that that might be the better option, especially if I can pick off the zombies from a distance..."
Tails: "The Borne Ship is one of the later models. I've been told it was fleeing the battle between Borne and Garrick when it had mechanical trouble and was forced down."
Valron: "So, the third 'trip' would probably have them better suited as remote-control bombers."
Tails: "The reason it's surrounded by undead is they were surrounded by Sloan fighters when they landed, then attacked by Illian's too. ...They killed all of them, then died shortly after from their wounds, from what I can tell from here. There could be one still alive in there, but it's been so long. I have no clue what their health is like. They would have had to run out of ammo countless times by now, because the ship basically needs some debris around it cleared away to take off, it's Vertical takeoff but it's got too much debris it could suck up around it."
Valron: "So, probably best to keep our guard up, even after dealing with the initial threat of zombies."
Nonna: "Probably need to watch out for traps and mines, too."
Tails: "Yes. They most likely didn't want it to be taken easily. ...You'll have to hurry if you want it now, the sun is getting a bit close to sunset now... by that I mean it's been setting a while now."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "A twilight jog could be good for the constitution."
Valron: "Let's keep that jog short, then."
KitRedgrave: "And landmine-free."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Which one do you think we should take first? The sad elephant things?"
Valron: "That was what I was thinking, but I'm honestly leaning more towards the Borne ship now... It may be a little more rough to get to, but I'd rather have something that can make more than two trips."
Nonna: "I'm partial towards the Borne ship, too."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, I'm ready when you are."
KitRedgrave: "Yeah, we might wind up needing the extra space. Let's go then."
Tails: "The opening path is fine, but I'd say you can expect some problems by the forested area... just a heads up. Good luck... and knock five times if you get back here and find this door closed."
Valron: "Will do."
Metal Man (GM): The way down from the cave is interesting. There's the ruins of a golden palace to your right, all destroyed, and to the left the battlefield filled with corpses. You can see a crashed Goa'uld death glider (think bird-like ship smashed into a boulder) surrounded by the bulk of the soldiers. They're old and skeletal. The sun's still barely over the horizon. Down the way is a path that goes down the side of the mountain and towards a rainforest of sorts. Xavier would keep walking down the path, as the rainforest would get closer, the sun getting more under the horizon, and it getting a bit darker.
Gelato: :D [Gelato can help with that, then!] *Bounce bounce.*
Metal Man (GM): The sun gets darker as you begin to see the rainforest around you. This would be where the first anything would show up...
Nonna: *Floated down the path slowly behind Xavier and the others.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a bit of a fork in the path.
Valron: *Just walkin' along with the others. Yep. He idly scans the area with his visor, trying to check for anything that could be hidden amongst the trees and foliage.*
Metal Man (GM): Up ahead is an area cloaked in shadow that seems to already have some skeletal soldiers wandering around. To the left is a treacherous cliff with nothing on it but barely any path. And to the right is an area full of quicksand.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm, which way do you think we should go? Or I guess, if you want to smash skeletons, the question is, have any preferences on what we should do?"
Nonna: "There's probably lots of corpses under the quicksand to try and drag us in if we go through there..."
KitRedgrave would be doing the whole Midna levitation thing this whole time following the party around.
Valron: "We could also just fly over the quicksand. ...Well, most of us. Xavier would... have a bit of a problem."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm pretty heavy. It's from eating all the limestone... I mean being an armored person. The Star Board's still a bit broken from the last time I rode it somewhere."
Valron: "...And I'm probably the only one who could potentially carry him, and even then, I'm not sure if I could do it while flying."
KitRedgrave: "Looks like it's impassable then..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... cliffs or undead things?"
KitRedgrave: "One more thing for the list." *She notes down 'give Xavier a jet engine or something'.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What is it, Gelato?"
Valron: "...Why do we keep forgetting about Baton Pass."
KitRedgrave: "...That'll work."
Valron: "Especially considering that I can do the same thing."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh... right. You can do that... ...what a useful move. I guess we can do that, then."
Gelato: *Vweeeee! Kirby-style inflation and flight!* :I *Flappa-flappa-flappa. He begins to take off, across the quicksand pool!*
Valron: *And with that, he flies off after Gelato. Go team Baton Pass!*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would get across the pool, noticing skeletons in the pools, trying to reach at him but failing.
Nonna flies on over as well.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You guys can warp me over when you're ready."
KitRedgrave would just go up to about 20 feet over the pools and cross as well.
Valron: "Will do." *Once he lands, and is. Well. A good enough distance away from the skeletons, he pulls out his book, flips it open, then casts Baton Toss.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Whoosh* "...I guess I never do need to figure out how to fly, with this."
Metal Man (GM): On the other side is the ship proper, surrounded by... ... a good 10 undead skeletons. And the sun's set enough for them to start standing up.
Valron: "I'd say figure out anyways. Doubt we can, well... always do this." *In any case, he flies back to meet up with the group.*
Metal Man (GM): They're all more interested in the ship than you.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Right... so we got past that... but how do we get past the skeletons... ...do you think we can kill all of them, or something else?"
Metal Man (GM): The skeletons appear to be mostly ex-Sloan people. Either the Illian or other people on the island disintegrated or vanished somehow.
Valron: *In any case, once he's back, he looks around, checking for a good spot where he can snipe at the skeletons from a distance.* "I can pick them off from far away with the rail-cannon as I've said before, but..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We probably get only a few shots before they go haywire on us. Their magical energies probably help them hear us. Luckily they're only skeletons. ...Unluckily, they're only skeletons."
KitRedgrave sighs. "We don't really have a good mass-destruction thing on us otherwise, do we?"
Valron: "I can blast apart clusters of them at a time. Don't think I can get all of them at once, though"
Nonna: *That dark weapon from before appears in her hands, creating an anti-light of darkness around it.* "I can deliver long ranged saturation bombardment with this."
KitRedgrave: "...Oh. Okay. I don't have to hack reality, maybe."
Valron: "Good. The two of us should be able to pick away at a good chunk of them, then."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I guess I should take this one out, then."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier takes out his DVD launcher.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I haven't figured out if skeletons can feel pain from bad movies... yet. You have any spells you could throw at them, Kit? Pretty sure you could just set one of them on fire or something."
Nonna: "Who goes first? My attack will certainly get their attention due to its sheer scale."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "My DVD launcher sounds like a chainsaw. Because it's made out of the parts of one."
KitRedgrave: "Well, I did just figure out a way to derive a lot of spells... now's a good a time as any to start."
Nonna: "I'll get us started, then."
Valron: "I was thinking I should start, then Xavier, then you."
Nonna: "Okay."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Okay." *Sets up his aim using a nearby log to steady himself.*
Valron: *He levels the rail-cannon, taking a moment to adjust his aim for a moment, making sure he doesn't accidentally hit the ship as well, before aiming at the biggest 'clump' of skeletons he can manage to hit, hoping that the considerable force the shot will jar them badly enough that their weapons go flying out of their hands, even if they aren't outright destroyed.*
Metal Man (GM): Sure. Roll attack. Hm... skeletons without awareness of an attack flying at them... they can't really dodge because that generally requires more agility than they have in that scenario. With that roll, and their HP... Two of the skeletons just get exploded immediately, leaving little behind but fragments. *and one moment while I confirm some stats I have because I suck at having those ready* Xavier's DVD violently slices one skeleton into tiny pieces. Just one, though. It also makes an incredibly loud chainsaw noise upon being fired. Of course, the sound of the other two being hit by an object moving at supersonic speeds kinda wasn't quiet either. With then Kit's... also if Gelato wants to do something, perhaps to add defense or offense, he could go next after Kit.
Nonna: *A beam of light is emitted above, gradually gaining size until it bursts all in the direction of the skeletons, aiming for whatever remained of them after the previous attacks. The whole area lit up and radiated a bunch of cold and haunting energy, likely sending any skeletons that remained into a state of chaos. Splash Damage, Environmental Hazard, Status Effect: Confusion.*
Metal Man (GM): After those 3 died, another two get violently thrown about by haunting energy, thus causing half of the skeletons to basically be annihilated, and the area around there looking like a cursed hole in reality set it on fire... with creepy energy, that is. 5 Skeletons remain, and they appear to be reacting to the annihilation of the other skeletons...
KitRedgrave: "Let's give 'em hell! Literally almost!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Some people do believe that's where From Justin to Kelly came from."
Valron: "...Right. The point is we should destroy these last few guys."
KitRedgrave would point her fingers out in a silly-looking gun gesture at the rest of the skeletons and horrible deathpit, and concentrates very intently. Then with even greater force and flash than usual, gouts of enchanted fire gush out of her pointed fingers and pour all over the rest of the skeletons in one huge arc!
Metal Man (GM): 2 more of them explode violently, the area burning with multiple kinds of fire now. 3 remain. Oh, right. Didn't know if that was an insta-spell or not. Sure thing. That's enough to hit, yeah. I'm just sort of limiting their dodge ability to something really slow like a 2 or 3 successes, since they're being sneak attacked.
Gelato: D:< *He runs in, grabbing and throwing one of the skeletons towards the quicksand pit! If that's allowable!*
Metal Man (GM): It is allowed, actually... insta-hit move and all. The skeleton is thrown into the pit. Its only means to avoid an insta-hit move is not available to it due to the surprise. It sinks into the pit. While arguably it's not dead, it can't escape, so it's as good as dead. Only two skeletons remain. I'd go and roll order and all that jazz, but there's only two, and while I have something to battle next, I think it's best to save that one for next session, so we don't all go late into the night and get all tired. The two skeletons DO fight back, mind you. Heh heh... The skeletal Sloan guard picks up his gun. He has a hard time determining which of you to shoot, because all of you basically nuked hordes of his companions. Ultimately he settles on Valron. Is it some ancient recognition or just a coincidence? He fires his old weird rifle at Valron, and it actually still works. ...Which means it is in fact at least somewhat deadly.
Valron: *Instead of trying to dodge or anything of the sort, he simply stands his ground, going to brace against the shot as best he can.*
Metal Man (GM): The shot deals 50 damage before Defense-based reduction, and has no special piercing. Although it feels like it might have, the fact the gun laid on the ground and got full of dirt and rotted kinda... limits its special abilities. It flicks a lever and goes to shoot at Kit next, for its second and final shot of its turn, since it isn't very smart and doesn't seem to know what running away or hiding or even bracing for being attacked is.
Valron: *He winces, taking a good bit of a blow from that shot. Fortunately, it hasn't messed him up too badly.*
Metal Man (GM): The other one would steel its aim and fire on Nonna twice, deciding that continual dark fire that ISN'T its own chaotic energy probably is a bad thing. z5 z5 KitRedgrave : Feel free to decide on block/dodge here, or neither if you feel like tanking it... healing is available too, thanks to Gelato... and Xavier, to some mild, very bizarre extent. Also I guess while we're waiting on those, Valron can start shooting again, this time with his full turn's worth of TP. Since the surprise/response rounds are over now.
Valron: *Of course, he does take the chance to return fire, once again going to blow those skeletons apart with another deadly high-impact blast of supersonic death. If they're grouped close enough together, then he'll go for both of them. Otherwise, he'll go for the one that opened fire on Nonna, seeing that one as the 'smarter' of the two.*
Metal Man (GM): The skeletons go to try to save themselves from that attack, both of them leaping sideways. They try, but they fail. Both of them explode. Pieces of bones and armor fly everywhere. Guess the fact they already got their butts handed to them once made the second battle a bit less deadly than it coulda been.
Valron: "...Well, that was easy enough. May have gotten scuffed up a bit in the end, but! That could have been much worse."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Those were some pretty nasty bullets they were using. I'm glad they weren't alive and able to maintain those guns properly."
Gelato: *He runs up to Valron, cuddling him and trying to do some out-of-battle nursing of wounds.*
Valron: "Hope one of their guns actually made it through that mess, though. Think we could salvage something from it."
Metal Man (GM): I think I have an idea for how to handle out-of-battle healing, assuming your sheet doesn't have it already... I'd say if you have a healing move, you may use it to heal up to 1/3 their max HP out of battle between battles. Also KitRedgrave: Dodge check, a shot got sent at you, yeah... shire sucks as a server. Or you can block, if you choose, of course... Yeah. I think it's fair to allow for healing 1/3 of one person's HP between battles if you have a healing move. Hit, 50 damage to Kit.
KitRedgrave does not in fact matrix dodge the bullet in a cool way. Instead, gets shot and falls over wincing.
Metal Man (GM): Nonna can roll dodge once Violet / Rosetta gets back. In the meantime, there remains the ominous ship... ...which does have barbed wire around it, actually. None of the skeletons appear to have gotten aboard the ship, as it looks like most of them, when they were alive, bled out around the ship due to being shot... or something. Hard to tell, the area around the ship is now even more on fire and destroyed than it was before you guys got there. Rosetta: 2 shots were sent at you. You can dodge or block... or try tanking them. 50 damage a shot. Only 1 hit, 50 damage for that one.
Nonna: *Looking a little winded.*
Metal Man (GM): The area is clear, though you can hear other undead out in the woods. The ship, surrounded by barbed wire, looks pretty beat up, but in one piece. There look like explosions were going on near the hull of it, and old ones... not yours.
Gelato: D: *He's running around, trying to heal wounds!*
Nonna: "They actually figured out to target the artillery?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm not sure. All I know is it looks dangerous to climb up there without some sort of plan."
KitRedgrave: *Aargh* "I guess so..."
Valron: "Possibly. Either that, or one of them lucked out. Well, both of them, I guess."
Metal Man (GM): I guess you could also spread out your healing if you want to heal multiple people, dividing that 1/3 of max HP between them (so 1/6 to heal two people, 1/9 for 3 people, etc)
Valron: "Not sure about the other one that focused entirely on Nonna, though." *He shrugs.* "Regardless, we should probably figure out how to get this thing moving..."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier casually takes out his flask of glowing energy.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This thing should be able to heal some damage." *He uses the healing flask thing on Kit and Nonna, healing 33% of their max HP to them.* "I'll save the last use for whatever comes up next."
KitRedgrave: "That's fine, I still got one of those... horrible Eggman sandwiches... yes thank you!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... who volunteers to climb up the scary and infamous looking triangular ship with barbed wire on it?"
Nonna: *Is looking mostly better now, anyway.* "Thank you, Xavier."
KitRedgrave is looking significantly less shot up, but still ragged.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Next time I'll be sure more of you guys has one of these, since it's pretty unlikely our next foes will be as easy to get the drop on. Everything hurts a lot more now that we aren't infused with bizarre fate bending supermagics." *Looks to Nonna* "...Er... right... I don't think you were ever infused with that energy. It used to be that we could kind of... walk into explosions and pretend they didn't exist... it made for a lot of very hyper, very stupid people."
Nonna: "Probably not."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Does anyone have a spell that could peer inside there? Or binoculars? The only things I can deliver into that ship's windows are explosions, and I'm pretty sure that's not going to help us get it."
Valron: "Hm... Well, I have my Visor, so I'm pretty sure I could at least give it a scan and whatnot. I can do that as well, yeah..."
Nonna: *The weapon had vanished as quickly as it had appeared by now.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm, Gelato can try to connect to the thing wirelessly while Valron scans it."
KitRedgrave: "...I got Alter on tap. Could turn a wall into a window."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Problem is, that window might have to survive us landing in that thing. But if you could turn something into a set of binoculars, that would be pretty handy."
KitRedgrave: "It's an illusion, the actual physical structure doesn't change much. I think... this might react weird."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I'm not sure if an illusion would count as letting us see... It might give us an illusion of what we want to see... ...I'm not a magician, though."
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, Valron could go and try scanning it, and Gelato can note if he wants to try connecting to the ship wirelessly.
Valron: *And so he does. IN-DEPTH SCANNING, ENGAGE.*
KitRedgrave: "That's a good question. We'll have to experiment on that later."
Gelato: *He tries to nanite to the ship with the beep-boop nanite science.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I wonder if that's what Schrödinger meant when he spoke about cats in boxes..."
Nonna: *Has elected to keep a watch to make no more deadly surprises turn up while they're busy with that.*
Metal Man (GM): Valron detects faint lifesigns inside the ship and idle electronics. Gelato at the same time also detects lifesigns and the ship. But he also detects the ship being keyed to talk with his nanites and it appears to react as if he's Borne for some reason, offering him the ability to control it to a limited extent. Mostly turning on the exterior lights, since it notes 'lockdown' prevents anything else from being wirelessly turned on. Nonna would notice the undead multiplying outside, and getting a bit restless. If they took too long, they might be swarmed by more heavily armed skeletons...
Nonna: "Hey, uh... we might get some company pretty quickly."
Gelato: :D *Lights go on!*
Valron: "I can see faint lifesigns, along with some idle electronics. ...And Gelato can apparently make the lights work. Huh."
Metal Man (GM): The light turns on. You see the way is clear, and while there is one lifesign in there, they don't seem to react to the lights turning on. Meanwhile, the undead skeletons begin shooting randomly in the woods and into the air.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It appears the spooky ship is less spooky than the heavily armed minions of undeath playing target practice with the trees behind us."
Nonna: "We need to either get inside or get out of here, or fight some more."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I think if there is faint life signs, we can beat them unconscious. On the other hand, I heard at least twenty gunshots out there, and we should probably at the very least" *Bullet flies by* "...take cover inside there, even if we choose to leave."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier wanders to climb up. Nothing appears to happen, even as he climbs clumsily through the barbed wire. That said, he sucks at climbing, so he spends a good 5 minutes struggling up the side of the thing.
Valron: "...Yeah, let's just get in before we become several pounds lighter due to holes." *And he goes to follow suit... flying up because who needs climbing?*
Nonna flies quickly after Xavier.
Gelato: *He just Kirbies inside.*
KitRedgrave would just offer to baton pass cheat Xavier up instead.
Metal Man (GM): Xavier would take said offer as he nearly falls off. Geez... the old Questers truly were slower and buggier than the newest model. Once inside, you'd be able to click the door shut, and the skeletons, being too dumb to climb up after you, would continue shooting a while before falling silent. We'll probably pause here, given even for me, it's-a midnight. Recap. The Questers made a portal to Alsa. Once on Alsa, they heard of the devastation. And the "Cool Guys", who were the remnants of the Echidnas, who had taken to terrorizing people in the name of Flaeyn and Kuji. Also the reanimated corpses of Sloan's soldiers were haunting Angel Island, and the Sons of Borne were busy lording it up over the ruins of Capital City. It was all pretty messy. The group blasted their way onto an abandoned Dauntless-Class GUN craft, where they now are currently, with it being nighttime. The hatch was suspiciously open, but it's now closed. The group is aboard it, but there's one unknown lifesign aboard, and the ship is still mostly offline, only the lights are on, thanks to Gelato. The sound of the skeletons banging on the steel doors and shooting hopelessly at it can be heard outside. Continuation The ship has two levels; currently everyone is inside the cockpit and upper engineering area of it. It's full of lots of fun panels with Leds and monitors and controls, but those are all defunct due to what looks like combat damage. The emergency lighting is on here, making it rather dim. Xavier can hardly find room to stand in here, as would anyone over 6 feet tall.
Valron: "...Ugh. What a pain."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Man... don't tell me we broke in to a dysfunctional space jalopy."
Valron: "Well, isn't that normal for us at this rate."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This thing has Garrick's bad engineering written all over it, plus GUN's sparse and boring controls. Who in their right mind would actually put all the buttons you use at the same time next to one another? And then use a touchscreen for maps? What madness is this???"
Metal Man (GM): He stares at the gel-cushioned armrests.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Bad, bad ergonomics! Who would ever want that?"
Nonna: "...I dunno, it seems pretty nice to me."
Gelato: *He bites into one, trying to suck out the filling.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, I guess it works for someone... that's good, because I probably won't want to fly this thing."
Metal Man (GM): The filling tastes gooey and cool from how cold it's been out here. It's vaguely greenish. It tastes vaguely metallic.
Valron: "You also have to remember that Xavier's tastes are completely backwards from anything resembling 'modern' or 'practical'."
Metal Man (GM): Yes... ...I anticipated explaining what the gel inside the armrests tasted like when I began this session. j/k
Valron: "Anyways."
Nonna: "The lifesign is more important now than taste anyway."
Gelato: *GOO VAMPIRE. He slurps them both dry.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "My dex says the lifesign is inside me... it's also inside of Gelato... ...and it's inside the lights... ...and also the sun... ... ...this isn't a lifesign detector, it's a pokedex." *Slaps his dex shut.*
Metal Man (GM): Valron could tell the lifesign was in the lower decks, faint as it was.
Valron: "It's junk is what it is. Besides, the other lifesign is below us. We'd need to go a little further down if we want to see what it is."
Nonna: "Maybe someone or something left behind in cold sleep?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You know, I might be tempted to upgrade this thing just a little bit... I mean... ...now that Garrick is gone, it's no longer a principled stand of mine to refuse to do so. He and his evil Dex V3 won't hurt me now."
Metal Man (GM): There's a sealed door that blocks the way downstairs. It appears to have required the power to be on to open, as the switches to open and close it are completely dark. And they were definitely fancy looking buttons, so while you can possibly short circuit them, it might not work so well afterwards.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You know, I could really use a good... glowing... something right now..."
Valron: *He grumbles for a second, before turning on his visor's flashlight. That should help brighten things up a bit.*
Nonna: "Should we all go, or split up so that there's always someone in the cockpit?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "..." *Takes out his smash dex and illuminates his face with its dim little backlight lightbulb's light. It looks creepy.*
Valron: "It's really good I requested this thing has a lot of functions built into it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, normally splitting up is lethal, but you can leave me behind wherever you need me. We've tested it, even if I am hideously killed, I will come back within a couple months... ...We should get that checked out when we're done saving the universe. I might actually get tired of living eventually. ...At least I can get all the senior discounts, though."
Nonna: "Kay."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I guess you don't have any plans for the cockpit, so I'll stay there... ...and don't worry Gelato, it's impossible for me to die at the moment. I can be temporarily defeated though, and it's no less painful. So I'll be sure not to die inside the sealed cockpit where hopefully nothing evil lurks." *He takes out his golf club and lights it, causing the room to glow orange with its light.*
Valron: "The real point of concern is the lower decks, anyways."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Then again... whatever is out there is likely to have seen less s@#t than I've seen, so maybe I'd be the evil thing lurking in the cockpit..."
Gelato: *Can his nanites make light?*
Metal Man (GM): A dim light, enough to read by.
Gelato: *VWOOM. Gelato is now a novelty 80s lamp.*
Metal Man (GM): Bio-luminescence is easy to mimic, but proper flashlight would require you to download a program from something else nanite-y or nanite-formatted.
Valron: *And, as mentioned before, he did switch his visor's light on, so...*
Metal Man (GM): Valron has a nice beam of light from his visor. Also this room is probably now a good test of a game's rendering engine, if it were ever in a game's rendering engine.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... ...I'll stand guard here. You guys go downstairs. Oh, and if you need me to flip buttons or... touch these stupid touchscreens... go ahead and ask me to do so."
Valron: *He goes to bring his illuminating gaze towards the switches, seeing as that's what all the need for lighting was for.*
Nonna: "Everyone ready?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Also if you find anything nasty, I can fall down the stairs and then punch them on the way down."
Valron: "Ready as I'll ever be."
Metal Man (GM): The door is still locked and in the way. It is, in fact, quite an annoying obstacle. It even has a touchpad with numbers on it, although strangely the numpad is completely covered in a very thick coat of dust.
Nonna inspects the numpad. Are any particular numbers even slightly less dusty than the others?
Metal Man (GM): Nope. They're uniformly dusty, and the dust is so thick it coats it completely. Dustier than anything else in here, even... Next to it are just the buttons for open and close, which seem rather worn down from repeated presses. They are completely dark, even though they have colored LEDs inside them that are... not being powered.
Valron: *Welp. Let's... actually scan the thing, and see if there's anything about it that can be, well... messed with.* (go go gadget computer-connector)
Metal Man (GM): You connect to the computer. Like Gelato, you discover only thing you can turn on and off are the lights on the outside, without access that is.
Nonna brings forth her weapon, this time instead of taking light away it shined brightly and looked sort of like illuminated ice. She tapped the open button with the butt of the sword to test it.
Metal Man (GM): It's password protected, and more importantly, appears to not even be properly started up. Weird errors occur whenever you try to check anything else. The button clicks... nothing happens.
Valron: "...Hm. Well, this is bothersome. Let's see..." *He ponders to himself for a moment, before trying to see if he can get the damn thing booted up properly.*
Metal Man (GM): Seems based on the gigantic cluster of errors, it's not turned on, since basic checks indicate large portions of the thing's remote access are just... completely dead, not even pingable. A nice status screen you can find indicates only the emergency services are on, and those seem to be in 'questionable' condition, as marked by a bunch of !s next to everything. And any automated attempt to flip it on tends to fail, due to the commands just falling into space with nothing responding.
Valron: "...Well, that's great. Seems like the remote access has just kinda... gone straight to pot. That... certainly explains a few things"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Borne told me that normally, they remotely find and recover ships that crash. That would probably be why this one was never found."
Gelato: *He peers up at Valron, looking for orders.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Unfortunately I'd have to get Tails to open the stargate to ask him more, and he's... not got the power to turn it on for anything more than us going home. Bah. Stupid Borne, refusing to come along due to principles. Nobody's even around to complain anymore... those Alsan Quester bums ran away screaming when both me and Illian noted any ones who were still interested in ruining planets wouldn't be allowed to do so... ...and the ones that were good... ...well, you know, we never DID figure out what happened to the good ones..."
Nonna: "Tries the close button next. Who knows, their functions may have been reversed or something."
Valron: "Hm... Do you think it may be possible to trick this thing into working by simulating the remote access in some way, or...?"
Metal Man (GM): *Somewhere, miles away, Aribar is casually going about his day, when he sneezes* The close button also clicks, they both seem dead.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm not exactly sure... it's a GUN machine. Generally when I'm in this situation I just pry it open. But we want to fly this thing, so that's not an option. Especially since you guys kinda like it not being broken, I assume."
Nonna: "Worth a shot..." *The weapon disappears and she looks back to Valron and the others, shaking her head.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I mean, I guess it might be okay to fly, but it would probably be dangerous. I wouldn't mind, but this thing looks rather... pressurized atmosphere-y, luxurious stuff you know? Not the giant leaking balloon thing the Wing Fortress does."
Valron: "Gelato would probably have the best shot at that whole trick, in any case, given his newly-acquired trick."
Metal Man (GM): While the numpad is covered in dust, it does have gaps around it that suggest a way inside the wall. Whatever good that would do. There's also a million little controls on the dim and broken control panels to your left and right.
Gelato: o.o *Cracks. Squeezy cracks...*
Metal Man (GM): Since it is an aircraft... surprising they didn't automate away the two flight engineer positions.
Valron: *In any case, while he's at it, he goes to check the dimmed control panels, checking to see if there's anything that'd even be vaguely functional.*
Nonna goes searching for any hidden compartments, barely visible keyholes and keys, things that may have been dropped on the ground and hidden from sight, things like that.
Gelato: *He tries to SCHLORP behind that keypad!*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato would get inside the keypad. Which would pop it open, revealing a bunch of wires. The fuse box for the entire place, plus the data connector that pad was attached to. The pad thunks, even more dust falling out of it. Seems like it was never used. Whereas the port behind it is worn from a lot of usage, and the fuses... well it looks like 3 of them burnt out. Though the status lights indicate this box isn't even getting power--they're all dead. The wires that are input run towards the broken consoles in the engineering part of the room. Gelato could probably follow the wires inside the wall, if he wished. Nonna on the other hand could see that the main hidden compartment/key/etc is in the engineering dashboards. Both of them have keyholes for 'ignition', but only one of them has the key in it. The other one is empty.
Nonna: "Anyone find any keys?"
Gelato: [I'm gonna go in here!] *He starts shimmying through, following the power wires!*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'd take a look, but then I'd probably get stuck bent over forever."
Metal Man (GM): Gelato squeezes in, finding his way to the area around the ignition key, finding that the power flows around it and stops right at the keyhole.
Nonna: "Because... we have a missing key that we may need to get anything moving."
Metal Man (GM): The key is currently turned to the 'off' position.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm... someone should go look for it."
Nonna: *Types on device* "What did you find, Gelato?"
Valron: "Yes, Gelato?" *He blinks for a moment, before giving a nod to Xavier, going to look around the ship, trying to skim about for the key, starting from the spot around the ignition in case the other key's simply fallen out, before fanning out. *(Investigator is go)
Metal Man (GM): Valron would find it laying on the ground, like it fell down there.
Valron: "I see. Huh. Think you can turn it on from the- wait a second, I found the other key. One moment." *He goes to pick it up, before putting it back in. He then goes to turn both keys.*
Metal Man (GM): Click. Click. For a moment, nothing happens. Then the door stuff lights up. Gelato also gets energized by the electricity, refilling his SE.
Valron: "There we go!"
Metal Man (GM): The buttons are lit up too. Open is red. Close is green. They're translucent plastic buttons with twin-LEDs inside them. Some of the lights are still out, and the fusebox lights show off the 3 broken fuses. The fuses go to Engr2, LWNG, and TL.
Nonna: "Any change in the lifesign now that some life has been breathed into the ship?"
Valron: "Let me check..." *He taps at his visor for a moment, checking to see if the lifesign in the lower decks has gotten any stronger or if it's still as faint as before.*
Metal Man (GM): The lifesign seems to still be faint as usual.
Valron: "No changes."
Metal Man (GM): Also, turning things on has led to 2/3 of the room to be lit up normally. The side where the key was missing is still a bit dark. One of the monitors has a big smash in the middle of it too, and the lights there are flickering.
Valron: *He flicks off his visor's flashlight.* "Anyways... We need to get some new fuses for this, it seems. Think they have any spares up here, or do you think we'll need to open the door to the lower levels up first?"
Nonna: "Anything could be waiting for us out there, so let's be careful before we proceed."
Metal Man (GM): The fuses are special fuses... and there doesn't seem to be replacements laying around up here.
Gelato: *He crawls back out of the wall, glowing and jittering from all the electricity!*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm guessing you can try to open the door now, but I'm not 100% sure. It looks lit up and everything."
Nonna: "Okay, everybody ready?" *Next to the buttons again with her weapon.*
Valron: "I'm good to go."
Nonna taps the Open button.
Metal Man (GM): It clicks open, revealing a half-darkened hallway and a ladder down into a dim area with flickering lights. The life form/sign is down there, according to the scanners.
Valron: "...Ah. Well, then. Shall I go first?"
Gelato: *He charges in!*
Valron: "Or our little friend here can show initiative. That's also fine." *He shrugs, before flicking his flashlight back on and heading down.*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato: Going down the ladder too? Guess so. Down there is actually kinda... narrow and limited, and full of sparking monitors. And some person you can't really make out, laying there, groaning and not moving a lot.
Nonna: *Following behind carefully.*
Valron: *He carefully makes his way over to the downed figure, the light of his visor focusing on them, scanning them so as to get a better grasp of their condition.*
Nonna: *Bringing up the rear, watching around to make sure the person wasn't some kind of bait for an ambush.*
Metal Man (GM): Your visor scans him and detects a signal. The figure, who looks like he nearly bled out after being shot or smashed by something, looks a lot like Garrick. Though he has a straggly beard and looks like his hair's all out of whack, and he's clearly been wearing that uniform without washing it for a very... very long time...
Valron: "...Ah. Are you that clone from way back? Was wondering where you ended up..."
Metal Man (GM): He doesn't wake up even when you talk about him. His breathing is shallow and uneven.
Valron: "...Well, I s'pose not way back, but... given half of everything that's happened, it sure feels like it."
Metal Man (GM): He appears somewhat cold too. Occasionally a hand twitches, but that's about it.
Gelato: D: *He runs over, and tries to cast Cure on him!*
Valron: "Gelato. Think you can help warm him up a bit? ...Good, good."
Nonna: "Someone you know?"
Metal Man (GM): The cure effect hits him and he trembles more, a hand raising up as he coughs out some black blood.
???: "Ugh... ...I'm dead aren't I... I'm dead and... Borne reanimated my corpse..."
Valron: "Perhaps. There were quite a few Garrick clones running about, though there was one of note that I had run into back during the whole Illian/Xavier conflict."
???: "Probably... here to torture me for escaping..."
Valron: "Bit presumptuous, aren't you?"
???: "..." *Coughs violently* "Gray Mann... maybe he wasn't actually dead..."
Gelato: *He nuzzles his face.*
Valron: "Also, Gray Mann? I thought we sealed his place off."
???: "Bluh... what is this strange thing?" *He fumbles about in the dark.* "You... I had the factory... then... then I saw someone named Alexia... in a world that had been destroyed..."
Valron: "At least, that's how it was supposed to go. No idea what's up now, given the current state of Al... sa. ...Wait, you saw Alexia? Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in an age."
???: "Escaped... stole a ship... .shot down... woke up... other people I'd taken hostage... dead... She needed a cure... for somebody ill... only Borne's people had it, or, well... Professor Oak..."
Valron: "I... see. Sounds like quite the tale."
???: "You killed off all the... people that wanted me dead... ...except Garrick... we need to kill him... if he's around anywhere... he'll kill me... I stole his name... ...You... there... ...A GUN person???" *He points at Nonna.*
Valron: "She isn't."
Nonna: "Negative."
Garrok: "I am... Garrok... if you're embedded with them to assassinate me... ...I can't resist anyway... The mutations in me began to degrade. I had to flee my hiding place... I heard some sort of energy could rejuvenate people here..."
Valron: "Yeah, I figured it was you. It's just me. Valron, if your memory's still a bit hazy."
Garrok: "Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was only energy that made the dead walk..."
Valron: "Well. That's... certainly rough, for lack of a better understatement."
Garrok: "...Mf... that's right... if Garrick is alive, he won't be for long either... most likely wherever he wound up, his age... ...I was cloned to be exact, even the degradation, so he must be dying elsewhere... The... the factory is still there. The GUN... no, Gray Mann factory."
Valron: "Ah, so the undead are a result of a Gray Energy leak?"
Garrok: "...Not so... I control... ...well, the Gray Energy... this energy... it's Jack's... Alsan Energy... released after... something..."
Nonna: *Writing all of this down.*
Valron: "...It always loops back to Jack, doesn't it."
Metal Man (GM): He would take out his clone of Garrick's dex.
Valron: "I swear, even in death, he remains a colossal pest."
Garrok: "Jack is dead... but his energy... the golden statue energy... it's HERE... The energy Flaeyn released..."
Valron: "Well, yeah. That's what I meant. ...How are we even going to clean this up?"
Garrok: "Don't... know... ...you... you haven't seen Garrick... have you? He... went insane... we heard things about not killing..."
Valron: "For that matter, we should also probably figure out a good way to get you back- ...No. Can't say I have."
Garrok: "Good... then we won't be killed in our sleep..."
Metal Man (GM): Garrok would weakly look at his communicator, then to Gelato.
Garrok: "What... you brought Mad Man nanites here? You could... use them on me... but then they would be all gone... I wouldn't... ask you to do that senselessly... ...You... could turn on the ship though... ...Can't... think though... I don't..." *He holds his head and groans.*
Valron: "We should still have that healing thing of Xavier's, though I don't know how much that'll help you."
Garrok: "This is why Garrick went insane... his mind... disintegrated... What... healing thing again?"
Valron: "...Aahh. Well, I'm not sure how well it'll help mental degeneration, though."
Garrok: "Only certain things will help me... that's partially why I flew out here... so desperate. Mental... genetic... complete... Mad Man nanites... would repair my body... expending their use... ...I would continue to need more, though..." *He would grin sardonically.* "Did you know... Garrick actually saved Borne's life... Had I been... Borne's host body like he planned... Borne would have died from this degeneration..."
Valron: "Well, all things considered... Borne has been incredibly lucky. Eesh."
Garrok: "And nothing would have prevented it... as I said... the nanites would only make me live for so long... if you want to help me... take me to somewhere with proper facilities... But... where... has that anymore? There are few places... GUN ships are shot down on sight by the Corallians... Gray Energy and the factory is mine... but the energy is cursed... and best never touched... It may not do evil things... but it makes the world lose its flavor... which even I don't like... and I sometimes want to do what Garrick did and destroy all the superpowers..."
Valron: "Well, we were planning to head back to Tails' lab with this ship in tow, but. Hm. Not sure if he has the proper resources, though..."
Garrok: "The fox?" *He pauses.* "He is... resourceful, but not a medical doctor... I tried, but the robotic Medics couldn't heal me either... You need... a geneticist... or similar..."
Valron: "Well, this is certainly a fine mess."
Garrok: "Do you... can you... ...if you can freeze me... you can buy more time... ...wherever you go. Every moment I am in this state, my body slowly burns itself one cell at a time... Programmed... Infantes Terribles... self destruct code, made by the people who made Garrick... unauthorized clones like Garrick... all die... I am lucky... you... have found me. I have... three days without freezing left... you can do that, right? ...I don't mind even... if you don't... at least I am not... alone..."
Metal Man (GM): He lays there, staring at the ceiling.
Garrok: "You came back... we thought... you would never come back..."
Valron: "Grand. Do... either of you have a way of keeping him frozen, or...? We were going to come back at some point. That, and this place never does seem to stop getting itself into its' fair share of problems..."
Gelato: *He paces in a circle, trying to think...*
Nonna: "Maybe..."
Valron: "Maybe? What do you have in mind?"
Garrok: "If... you need... support..." *He flops a bit.* "I can still... Magitek..."
Nonna: "I can freeze things, but lack the control to do it safely to a... living person. I will need some help."
Garrok: "But where... would you get the coins..."
Valron: "I still have roughly 1900 coins left. Not much, but it could be of some use."
Garrok: "Economy has... gone to hell... but that would be enough... ...be thankful... Magitek adjusts for inflation..." *He goes to chuckle, but it hurts just to do that for him.*
Metal Man (GM): Nope.
Nonna: "This Magitek will assist in the freezing process?"
Metal Man (GM): And given the theme of this is sorta loose ends of Confrontation, I wouldn't expect you to have them otherwise.
Garrok: "If you provide the raw ice... the magitek can add extra control... It'll take all those coins though... unless you want to gamble with my life... ...don't want to end up with my head frozen stuck to the walls, that would be... bad..."
Valron: "Well, at least it'll be something..." *He pulls out a bag full of coins, before putting it next to Garrok.* "Here."
Gelato: *He moves to sit down, spreading himself over Garrok. If he can't fully heal him, at least he might be able to help him move and keep him a little more comfortable.*
Metal Man (GM): Gelato moves Garrok so he's no longer slumped over like a dead/drunken man. He is now a bit more like sitting on a hospital bed.
Garrok: "...That's what being able to breathe feels like..." *Gasps, coughs* "I was laying on my injured lung..."
Metal Man (GM): He gropes for the coins and grabs a fistful, drunkenly spilling a bunch on himself.
Garrok: "M-magitek... Gods above, Solarian power... whatever remains on this forsaken abandoned universe... createeee createee..." *He hesitates and the energy sort of spazzes out around him as he does it.* "CREATE... cre..." *he coughs some more.*
Nonna: *Her weapon once again resembles illuminated ice.*
Garrok: "Ah... that... figures... I used all my energy just staying alive..." *He slumps for a moment.* "I... ...you probably have some energy between all of you as well... Need that... to start the catalyst... ...Oh... ...and you'll need this... don't want this to... be frozen with me."
Metal Man (GM): He drops out his control card to the cockpit.
Valron: "Well, I'm sure we can all contribute, at least. That, and Gelato probably does have some excess energy to siphon off, at leas- Ah. Thanks." *He nods, taking the control card.*
Garrok: "Simple... pieces like that."
Metal Man (GM): It was stolen off of... Ederick???
Garrok: *Cough* "They left... it in an old office... idiots..."
Valron: "...Huh. Well, then."
Garrok: "F-focus with me... goo... being... and others..." *He trembles a bit and coughs, making a fist with coins.* "Magitek... come... back... one last time... give me... ...storage... chamber... protect self... control... freezing..." *The energy spazzes out again, as he looks to Gelato and Valron, and Nonna, holding it there, waiting for whatever assistance he can get.*
Gelato: *All of his SE.*
Valron: "Hm... Let me see..." *He nods, taking a deep breath, before letting all the Smash Energy flow out. *(-4 SE to Valron, +4 to Garrok)
Metal Man (GM): The energy powers up, and the form appears of a sort of hibernation capsule.
Garrok: "...there."
Metal Man (GM): He passes out, sealed inside it. It has a port to introduce the freezing ice with. The energy is more than enough to keep it powered independently. It looks much like the capsules that were made in that base so long ago to create the Garrick clone for Borne's replacement body.
Nonna gets ready to unleash the freezing in as controlled a manner as possible...
Metal Man (GM): Seems at least Garrok remembered those. The device is... well, magitek, so it telekinetically notes to Nonna, 'Ready for Freezing'
Valron: "...Wow, one of these things. Definitely brings me back to the early days of this whole mess."
Metal Man (GM): A bunch of glowing lights seem to appear between it and Nonna, energy indicating it is a controller of sorts of energy.
Nonna: *She carefully uses a specialized version of her Frierenfesseln attack to freeze Garrok safely.*
Metal Man (GM): The machine's magitek controls it precisely, and then stops once he's frozen. It notes rather simply, 'Patient is in stasis.' It also connects to the ship in order to keep itself powered more easily, so it doesn't have to use power reserves of its own. As you'd do that, you'd get a comms from Xavier.
Valron: "Whew. Well, can't say I wasn't expecting to run into him again, but... At least we've got 'im safe and sound."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *C* "Not to be too much of an alarmist, but the ship began beeping and a bunch of silhouettes that look like GUN ships are headed here. I think some person named Sergeant Jane was rambling on the radio about 'The Garrick Traitor That Must Die' or something, too."
Valron: *C* "...Oh, that's. That's pleasant. Let's get out then." *He then heads back up, card in hand. He goes to look around for a spot to insert it in and whatnot.*
Metal Man (GM): The cockpit next to Xavier has the controls and the place to put the key in.
Valron: "Yeah, we found him. Currently have him preserved in stasis. Also, that Sergeant Jane or whoever can step off. Don't have any time for this rubbish." *He promptly slots the key in and gets thing going.*
Nonna: *Following Valron.*
Metal Man (GM): You get it going. You'd notice the doors to the cave Tails is in are closed... also this ship is bigger than a Stargate, even then. Xavier puts a hand to his chin.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... we need some place to go... someplace that isn't here..."
Valron: "Right, right. Can't go to where the Corallians are. They'll shoot us down, given our mode of transport."
Jane: *C* "If that is you, Garrick, or Garrok, you should know that you can't escape. We detected that Stargate activation and have blocked your way to it. If you think you can evade us now, you're wrong!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Also Sergeant Loudmouth apparently thinks we could somehow fly this thing into the Stargate or something stupid. You got any good ideas? I might have a stupid one."
Valron: "Want to try our luck with the Mushroom Republic, or...?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah, that sounds much better than my dumb one. Go there or something. I was gonna say, maybe Illian's ship crashed somewhere around here and we could use it. Or maybe fly to Angel Island where The Void is. Or go to the moon and see if the Time Cop portal or Illian's are still there... but those are all so far away."
Valron: "Right, right." *Once he's sure he's got the damned ship going, he goes to, well... y'know. Make his way to the Mushroom Republic. Be it through punching in coordinates or just actually piloting the damn ship. Y'know, whichever.*
Nonna: "Just what's happened to GUN? This is disgraceful."
Valron: "Also, we can check all of those out later. When, y'know. We're not being harassed by idiots."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well... basically Borne left it after Illian tried his best to assassinate all the people in it. Sergeant Levis was the only other Borne person left and Garrick killed him or something."
Valron: "...I killed him, actually."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh... right... I don't think I was there."
Valron: "Threw a giant chainsaw through him."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I just read these buggy log things that try to put together what happened." *Slams his dex into the wall to make it display correctly.*
Valron: "Wild time, that."
Metal Man (GM): You're chased by some other ships, but most interestingly, they aren't Dauntlesses.
Nonna: "They'd rather chase after us than make this world livable again."
Jane: *C* "You will pay, Garrick! You killed our leader and left us to die in the X-Zone! And Garrok, if that's you, you will also pay! You abandoned us!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sometimes I'm glad they don't know we're on here. Who even knows what they'd think of us..."
Valron: "Agreed."
Metal Man (GM): Lasers shoot, but their ships seem to be slower.
Valron: "I was tempted to pipe up, but... not doing that. I'm just gonna take advantage of our agility and not let them get a chance to hurt us."
Metal Man (GM): The Dauntless occasionally loses altitude and malfunctions, but even damaged it's faster. It shakes a lot as you fly it. The GUN ship starts to slow down, as Jane seems more exasperated.
Valron: "Eesh... We need to get this thing fixed up sooner rather than later."
Jane: *C* "Talk to me! Why do you just run away every time? You... can't es..." *She sighs.* "Damn you!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's still smoother than the Wing Fortress... ...oh right."
Nonna: *While she wasn't expressing it externally, deep down she was furious at the whole situation.*
Gelato: *He's sitting on top of Garrok's stasis pod...*
Metal Man (GM): Garrok's heartbeat seems to be slow but now regular that he's in stasis. Meanwhile the Mushroom Republic starts to show up. The GUN ship turns around, presumably because, as you can tell, it's not really meant for the flights this crazy intercontinental bomber-fighter is.
Valron: "Well, yeah, but that's like saying frozen yogurt is smoother than ice cream with peanut butter cup chunks in it. Kind of a no-brainer. Anyways."
Metal Man (GM): The Mushroom Republic starts to show up...
Valron: "I really hope they'll let us explain our situation, because I'm going to be annoyed otherwise."
Nonna looks it over, if she can. Does it look as trashed and wastelandy as the place they left?
Metal Man (GM): *Loading noises as I double check what happened to it last* Almost got it... (Have to grep logs, heheh) Ok, might be a bit off on this one, but given that they dropped off the face of the planet of the logs after a very powerful thing happened... ...here's what you see.
Valron: "It's been a while since I've last been here. Hopefully, they're still holding up well enough..."
Metal Man (GM): A giant force field protects the Mushroom Republic.
Valron: "...Ah! Right. I had that thing put up to make sure Borne wouldn't ruin anything."
Metal Man (GM): Due to the force field, no one has managed to attack them in quite a while. They appear to be about as peaceful as can be. Of course, there's... no way in there now... You soon get there, seeing the force field. Xavier stares at it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "My god! They actually survived the apocalypse! It's a miracle!"
Valron: "I'm... kinda to blame for that, actually! Or well, thank, in this scenario."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "... ...So you didn't help Illian kill them all to death? ...Illian must have been disappointed."
Nonna: "Maybe they'll still recognize you. Can we hail them?"
Valron: "He was furious because I had to make sure Sloan didn't run off with the Crystal Stars."
Metal Man (GM): The radio still works, and Jane has vanished out of sight so she's not gonna be hearing you.
Valron: "While he was busy getting his shit kicked in by your group."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah... by that point we had had enough of Illian and began shooting holes in his stuff."
Valron: "That was the chemical shotgun incident, for the record."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That... ow. I still remember that." *Shudders a bit.*
Metal Man (GM): The rainbow force field seems to have protected them perfectly... it's kinda interesting, given how everywhere else was annihilated but they survived.
Valron: "Yeah. Still feel a bit bad about that. At least it helped open my eyes a bit..."
Nonna: "The what now?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, you saved this place from... everything after that. Illian tricked Valron into using a chemical weapon of mass destruction against me and my Questers... who were all fairly new, like... Gelato."
Valron: "That should give me a little leverage, at least..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Only a sicko would decide that insidious napalm death is what you do at Gelato. And Illian was like, 'who cares! burn them all to death!'"
Valron: "In any case..." *He tries to send a hailing frequency Republic-wards.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He considered Questers a disease to be genocided."
Metal Man (GM): You get a response.
Valron: "It also didn't help that I was openly defiant to his attempts at murdering you lot."
Peach: *C* "Who... who is this? Are you... some sort of people... are you those people trying to get in here again?"
Valron: "Or just openly defiant to his rubbish in general, considering I actually had the interests of the people in m- Oh. One moment!" *He clears his throat, before opening comms.*
Peach: *C* "It... doesn't matter, the Stars know who is good and who is evil..."
Valron: *C* "Ah, sorry. It's just me. Kinda had to hijack an old ship."
Peach: *C* "...Oh, well... fly directly in then, the barrier should lift for you... It knows who you are especially, with the power of the stars... We can talk inside. It's... best that we don't say anything out here that will bring those people back here..."
Valron: *C* "Thank you. Good to see you're still holding up well, at least." *He nods, before going to fly towards the barrier.*
Nonna: "Does... 'Stars' stand for something?"
Metal Man (GM): The barrier opens to make a perfectly ship-shaped hole for the ship to fly in through.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It sounds familiar to me but I'm not sure."
Valron: *Comms off.* "Crystal Stars. They're a set of artifacts unique to this region. They're what's holding the barrier up."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "..." *Xavier nearly falls over.* "C... Crystal Stars??? The... the most powerful artifacts I'd seen in a long time... No wonder they survived!"
Valron: "Yeah. I had to make sure Sloan didn't run off with them."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...So that's why Sloan lost."
Nonna: "So Sloan desires them."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I bet his plan involved those."
Valron: "Desired. I ruined his plans to get them."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh yeah, Sloan had some plan about destroying the universe. Had he actually gotten those Stars, he probably would have actually posed a threat. Instead he tried to be a threat and Illian chased him away while screaming about White Elephants and brandishing Chaos Emeralds."
Nonna: "So he's not dead?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He ran away screaming after Illian powered up and began destroying everything he had. Well... and we were gonna get him too. Everybody in the universe wanted to kill him, he tried to trick me and Illian into killing eachother so he could win."
Nonna: "He could trick Illian? That's surprising."
Valron: "He's about the #1 item on my to-kill list, too."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, Illian wanted me dead, I didn't like Illian... All he had to do was probably feed Illian lines about me massacring the innocent..."
Valron: "Well, either him or Omnus, really. Might actually both be, all things considered."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sloan was, well, you know. He was an agent of Borne's but it was revealed he was actually some sort of sleeper agent for somebody else."
Valron: "Considering they both tried to destroy the universe for their own ends."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We never discovered that somebody else, making it seem he was just hiding there... some sort of outer-world guy who liked to hide. Hide and destroy, basically."
Gelato: *He tilts his head, listening to all this. His face is gradually blanker and blanker as he tries to sort it all out.*
Valron: "Mind you, I like Omnus even less due to how stupid and petty his reason for doing so was."
Nonna: "So there's someone above Sloan, giving him orders."
Valron: "Really, all that just to get rid of a rival organization..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well supposedly there was, but he seemed to be running on his own orders when we last saw him... It's confusing. Sloan intentionally made everything around him confusing."
Metal Man (GM): The ship slowly lands.
Valron: "That died anyways because they were stupid enough to get into Borne's path... And yeah. Sloan's whole thing is being intentionally obnoxious and confusing. You should see how he dresses. It's... something else."
Metal Man (GM): You land, and Princess Peach is there. You can see this place... it's all in one piece. There's Toad Town, and then there's Peach's castle, with all the quaint little huts and the quaint stereotypical Mario 64 castle.
Nonna: "Well this is a breath of fresh air..."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier steps out and spends a moment staring in awe.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's... it's a copy of Nintendus... ...and its Toad Town isn't destroyed!"
Nonna: *Out too.*
Gelato: *He hops out, blinking.*
Peach: *Looks at Xavier* "What do you mean, isn't destroyed?"
Valron: *He lets out a rather content sigh. It's nice to see a sign of the one good thing he's done while he was working for Illian to still be around. He walks out of the ship, following behind the others.*
Gelato: "...Squee~."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...You don't even want to know about the destruction of Toad Town."
Peach: *O_o* "Uh... okay..."
Valron: "It's... a Nintendus thing."
Peach: "So... some other universe like Flopside... I understand."
Valron: "Long story and I don't care to recall most of it."
Nonna: "Pleased to meet you."
Peach: *Curtseys* "Nice to meet you too, uh... what's your name?"
Xavier Ridgecrest stares at the pristine sky and shiny houses, wandering over to just stare in awe at the un-destroyed Toad Town.
Valron: "Oh! She's Nonna, and the little gel blob over there is Gelato. They're associates of mine."
Nonna: *Does one too* "Nonna."
Gelato: *He looks around excitedly, starry-eyed and happy. Everything's so calm and beautiful!*
Peach: "Nice to meet you, Nonna and Gelato... I'm Princess Peach... ...the ambassador of the Mushroom Republic, since we, well... don't have a real monarchy here anymore... ...Probably for the best... those old Mushroom Kings and their gavels are now used to process Kero Kero nutshells..."
Nonna: "A ceremonial tradition, I presume?"
Peach: "Yes... we used to have a monarchy and it was... ...bad... Every time something happened... the ten Kings would argue for ten days. Then nothing would be done about it. Bowser took over in the time it took them to even decide basic plans..."
Valron: "...They're still around? Yikes. 'least they can't really do much of anything anymore. ...Well, even less so, but you get the idea."
Nonna: "So they gathered and 'planned' for forever while the bad guys waltzed in. Sounds familiar."
Peach: "They... are a bit senile these days, so they still think they're king. But they never actually check, so we have them in a comfortable building with lots of Kero-Kero nuts to smash with their gavels. Mushroom King Kola is the most popular thing they've ever created. Mostly because they didn't really... do anything before... ...Anyway, I assume you're here for... hmmm... ...something important? It looks like you couldn't finish repairing your ship before you got here..."
Metal Man (GM): The right wing is smoking a bit.
Nonna: "...Something like that."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier, meanwhile, uses a camera that looks like it's from 1975 to snap pictures of Toad Town.
Valron: "It's... technically not ours. Like I said, we kinda took it. ...From a zombie-infested wasteland."
Peach: "So... you've seen the rest of Alsa... good. That saves me a long explanation..."
Valron: "We'd have gone back to our point of origin, but the doors there have been, well. Closed for the night."
Nonna: "I'd ask how you manage to keep a level of comfort and stability here with outside contact and trade cut off, but we all have more important things to discuss."
Peach: "It's... a long explanation but I can sort of summarize it..."
Metal Man (GM): Peach focuses and a pillar that looks like Dr. Robotnik created it pops out of the ground. It has green energy throughout it.
Peach: "An evil man named Dr. Robotnik conquered us and placed these throughout our land to power his machines... the ability to create anything he needed was seeded in these... ...They were off limits to us until Valron blocked off the enemies with the Crystal Stars, at which point they turned on of their own accord... I don't know how or why... they're tech that that evil dead man put here..."
Valron: "Huh. That's... certainly convenient."
Peach: "But they manage to manufacture what we need... the Stars seem to do something with them. ...Of course, it's still... limited."
Valron: "Maybe they help power them in some way? Hm..."
Peach: "We have to avoid getting too... crowded here, they can't... increase their output."
Valron: "Certainly worth looking into, in any case."
Peach: "We've had to turn away a lot of refugees... it's rather sad... But I bet the Stars can help you get back to where you need to be..."
Valron: "And we do have someone who might have a good idea on this sort of tech, but he's... dying. Have him in stasis, at least."
Peach: "Oh dear... I wonder if a lifeshroom will help?"
Valron: "I'm not entirely sure, myself. This sort of thing is... especially nasty. He had three days before we managed to make it more indefinite."
Peach: "Well... we don't have a lot here, unfortunately, we can only get a few wishes from the Crystal Stars per day. It's... safe, but we're unable to change a lot without unbalancing the world."
Gelato: [But we gotta help him somehow!] :<
Valron: "Hm... I see, I see. Could be worth a shot, at least."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier nods, and turns around.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We could probably help him better back home... we're outgunned and outnumbered on Alsa... ...but we need to be able to come back here and perhaps get Tails here or something."
Peach: "Well... that's up to you... all we can really do is summon a portal back to your home and, back here if you wish to return... To heal whatever your friend has might take a bit more work."
Metal Man (GM): She would go to lead everyone to the altar of the Crystal Stars. A bunch of ancient architecture is there, and it's atop a hill... it glows with the same energy Valron might remember from when he played stand-in barrier maiden with them.
Valron: "We're pretty much going to be on Alsa for the next while, so that's not too big a deal." *He nods, going to follow her over to the Altar.*
Metal Man (GM): The stars are there, and they seem to have the same resonance. Valron would remember that, the stars can't really talk or do anything, but people like Valron or Peach or even Gelato could possibly channel their energy. Or even Nonna, though it seems to prefer people with some link to Alsa.
Gelato: *He tilts his head, trying to get closer to them.*
Valron: *He... doesn't really have any Smash Energy left, though maybe he could at least do something given that he does still have his half of the Mad Man mark.*
Metal Man (GM): Hm, does Gelato have energy left Gelato can get right up next to them. They have no defenses or force fields. Given how idyllic it is here, only nutcases would probably try to break 'em. Hm... ironically, Xavier does have left over Smash Energy. He would walk over to them after seeing the rest seem kinda... dry.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...What did we want to do with these again?"
Nonna: "Strange, I've never experienced anything like this before..." *Full SE.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I hesitate to do something stupid, lest it become like the time I destroyed Ael by breaking my Time Device accidentally on purpose."
Valron: "Well, we do want a easy way for the lot of us to hop between Tails' lab and here, right?"
Metal Man (GM): Peach stands aside, not really worried since it was Valron who set these up in the first place.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Right. Gelato made a Stargate thing... we could probably use another of those... here. ...But we don't have any extra Magitek crystals, and we can't use the crystals themselves for construction material. And if what Peach said is correct, they don't have a lot of spare magick materials here either, thanks to the locked economy. Hmmmmm..."
Valron: "Mmhh... Well, then."
Nonna: "How about wishing for the knowledge of where to find materials for it?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Need either something Gelato can eat or something else to summon something for Gelato to eat or something to eat that Gelato can eat that can be eaten..."
Metal Man (GM): Peach gets an ! over her head.
Valron: "...Ah?"
Peach: "Oh... you want to locate something? Merlon can do that..."
Valron: "Oh! Right. Him. It's been a long while since I've seen him."
Peach: "The crystals can too, but... Merlon doesn't cost an entire wish of the crystal. He just lives in a hut..." *She points to a nearby magic hut.* "He'd charge, but, well, you kind of saved his life..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...That's it. Gelato can eat his crystal ball!"
Nonna: "That works too."
Valron: "Good. I kinda had to use the remainder of my money to, well... Keep the fellow I mentioned before alive."
Metal Man (GM): Peach facepalms at Xavier.
Valron: "...No. I don't think there's any need to mix stuff."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I... ...we'll find something you can mix... ...that isn't somebody else's stuff... ...I forget sometimes, we're not thieves in this dimension."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier clanks towards Merlon's hut.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "But... Merlon can find us stuff to mix."
Valron: *Walks off after Xavier.* "At the very least, stuff to help patch up our new ship."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "God... I'm so used to this place being destroyed. I memorized it all. Grunty's death ship is over there, Kuja's space ship would be over there..." *He points to perfectly non-damaged buildings.* "And over there is the ruins of Julian's bank..." *Points to normal grocery store.*
Valron: "Different planets, different happenings."
Nonna follows along.
Metal Man (GM): Merlon's hut is open. The weird, bearded wizard type is sitting at his chair... sleeping.
Merlon: "...zzzz ...zzz ...no Julian, I cannot predict your next boxing match... zzz..."
Gelato: *He bounces after Valron and the others, looking around.*
Valron: "Hey! Sorry to interrupt your nap, but we kinda need some help."
Nonna: "Excuse us."
Merlon: "Up... bup... bup... oh." *He looks at you.* "How interesting. New customers... I didn't bother to foretell this... ...Valron." *He looks at Valron.* "...Well... I... guess you need to find something, yes?"
Valron: "The new folks are all with me, and... Yes. Yes I do."
Merlon: "This one is free... the next one is not. What do you desire to see of the future, son?"
Valron: "Well, guys... Let's make this one count. What do we want in particular at this moment?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Don't ask me... I prefer to warp to the future and ask them personally, myself, and don't really have an eye for this thing."
Metal Man (GM): Merlon glances at Xavier.
Merlon: "...Ah... you're one of those people who messes up time, aren't you..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Heheh... yeah..."
Nonna: "Don't mind him."
Merlon: "I have no choice but to mind him. Stopping him would only mess up time further. He's a variable to watch... not interfere with."
Valron: "Mmh. What about you, Nonna? Do you have anything in mind, or?"
Merlon: "...Do tell me if you find any others like him... it is useful for me to know. They... make my predictions clearer, to have names and descriptions for them."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I never did think about it that way."
Valron: "I'll be sure to keep that in mind."
Nonna: "Our goals are to cure our guest, and find a stable way back home. If we must rely on something outside of our own power, I would vote for the former. Whether it's finding something to directly help, or a means to indirectly help."
Valron: "Let's go with that, then. Presuming one over the other, we'd like to know of a cure for a fellow we have back on the ship. He's in absolutely terrible condition, and he'd have died in a few days if we hadn't managed to put him in stasis."
Merlon: "You wish to cure him..." *He looks into the Crystal ball.* "Oh Crystal Ball, look into the future... show me how to cure this man who is gravely ill... show me where or when or where this cure occurs... and how... to ensure that time happens as it is in the future..."
Metal Man (GM): The ball glows a lot. It turns blue, red, green... It flickers and patterns fill the walls. They spin around a bit as some blurry image shows up.
Merlon: "Hmmm... the cure to this man lies in an ancient room, in a ruined factory... deep beneath the ground, where you originally discovered him... a cure... to far more than just him... an ancient king sought this cure... The ancient king... the ruler of people of swords, the once powerful Vring... they had this thing... The powerful cure, is very obscure... and many have died chasing its lure... ...But search now and you shall find... a room empty and destroyed... the one who was real became the fake... and changed this other one's fate... you can enter the room near the lake... and finally do the right thing for his sake."
Metal Man (GM): He then leans there and sighs a bit, exhausted as the prophecy is finished being told.
Merlon: "It was... rather hard to find, but... it is down there... in the cursed land where the world turned to sand. By the city where this person and others like him were... made? It's... an odd thought for an old man like me. Who would just create new beings like that?"
Nonna: "Thank you."
Metal Man (GM): He would nod.
Valron: "Thanks. That is certainly rather helpful."
Merlon: "I also get the feeling if you cure this man, he can easily get you back and forth off this planet... ...or you may find what you need on your way to figure that out, anyway. The future has many paths, and they are not all certain."
Valron: "Makes sense it'd be there, at least. In any case... It'd be best if we went there come daytime. Bit less hazardous that way, at least."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We can probably rest here and decamp for the place tomorrow... or we can wish ourselves back and wait a few days and warp back from our ship... but that's a bit risky, given these Stars might be needed, so we can probably just rest... I wish my Time device worked."
Merlon: "Even the Stars cannot restore your destroyer of continuity, metal being."
Valron: "Rest it is, then."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well yeah, otherwise Sloan would probably STILL be here..."
Nonna: "Do we have a place to rest, or are you thinking of sleeping in the chairs of the cockpit?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh no... those places are so... ...new car smelly..."
Merlon: "I did foretell that Valron would be back some day..." *He gestures to a building that's been kept aside, and hands a key to Valron.* "We kept a cottage made to fit a group of you and your people, just in case. Since... even if you did have everything you needed... it's a long trip between here and everywhere else."
Valron: *He takes a key, nodding to Merlon.* "...Ah. Well, then. I'm rather grateful for that, in any case."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm. Then we set out for that place and probably have to beat up some fools... ...sounds good to me."
Nonna: "Thanks. Shall we get settled in?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "May as well. I've been tired ever since we got stuck inside that ship."
Valron: "Wouldn't be surprised if we ran into any undead Vring, given that their king was looking for the cure."
Merlon: "Indeed... not to mention Dyne and the ancients were all similarly cursed."
Valron: "Ugh... Dyne. Don't remind me of him."
Merlon: "I studied the prophecies of their time a bit... I just never thought to foretell how to find out the Vring's past. Thought they were a dead end."
Metal Man (GM): Merlon would nod, and pet Gelato. Then idly cause a pillar of Eggman-tech to rise up and summon an Eggman sandwich for him.
Merlon: "This is what the pillars do, if you are wondering... and are hungry, that is. Food, water... ...sometimes other things... they provide for us what we cannot grow with our limited lands or make ourselves."
Valron: "Hah, well then. I see even if the man himself is gone, his sandwiches live on."
Merlon: "It's like the planet itself is doing its best to protect us."
Valron: "I thank it for that."
Nonna: "Thank you again for your assistance."
Merlon: "Yes... thank you for your assistance in the past, well... the ones that were here. Let me just say, the Questers are the only reason we are still here. Those kings... they would have just let Eggman rule us forever."
Valron: "It... fills me with hope to see that at least the one of the few truly good things I've done here manages to flourish. It makes me think that maybe, just maybe, we can turn this whole mess around, even if it's only one piece at a time."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "With any luck, we can undo what those fake Questers who worked with Julian did to this poor planet. And then some day... I can defeat Digifanatic at golf. That'll show him!"
Valron: "...Don't know what that has to do with everything else, but I do want to fix things up."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "In any case... I'm gonna go rest now, my anecdotes are stopping making sense."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier wanders off.
Nonna: "Um, Xavier... you don't have the key."
Valron: "Wait for me, at least." *He shakes his head, before walking off after Xavier.*
Metal Man (GM): He walks face first into the door, and falls over.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I knew that." *He points at the sky.* "Okay, maybe I didn't know that."
Gelato: *He bounces after Valron, pausing and blinking when he sees Xavier fall.*
Valron: *He goes to unlock the door, then head in.*
Xavier Ridgecrest gets up and then goes to walk indoors.
Nonna follows after them, looking into the place to see what it was like.
Metal Man (GM): The doors reveal multi-roomed place, much like a nice hotel, with soft beds of various sizes, separate rooms with doors you can lock and such.
Gelato: "..."
Metal Man (GM): It's been kept up decently and seems to have been well maintained.
Gelato: *He immediately runs to a bed and begins bouncing on it.*
Metal Man (GM): The beds are very bouncy--a Mushroom Kingdom specialty.
Nonna: "Huh..." *Checks for baths, showers.*
Metal Man (GM): The kitchen has an Eggman pillar in place of a normal microwave or oven. It seems to just pop up if you look. There's baths and showers here, something else they apparently have, running water and such. Xavier glances, looking around. He eventually finds the heaviest looking bed and lays on it, it barely taking his weight.
Nonna: "Well, see you guys in the morning. That is, unless you're bored and want to chat or play a game of cards or something." *She'd pick a room and immediately start preparing for a nice bath.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I shall sleep be now potato." *Points at the air and conks out.*
Metal Man (GM): It is a small wonder how he sleeps at all with that massive armor. But literally no one has seen him take it off, outside of the helmet, which he doesn't even bother to take off... maybe he's used to it. Whatever it is, he is murder on whatever poor bed he does sleep on, since he must weigh almost the amount of a truck. Anything else before I conclude this session? I think we're at a good stopping off point. And actually I'm feeling like we'll be getting closer to more fighty stuff soon, since the setting description factory is nearly complete.
Gelato: *Bounce bounce bounce bounce bounce--he abruptly stops and lets himself splat down, snoring softly.*
Violet unless someone does want to chat with Nonna, I'm good.
Valron: *He goes put his usual array of weapons off to the side, along with his cube. After that, he then takes off his armor, now clad in a rather plain gray t-shirt and a pair of faded jeans.* "Mmph. Far too long since I've had a chance to get this stuff off." *The wyrm stretches out for a bit, letting out a soft groan before he heads off to a room of his own and shower. It's been a long day.*
