Metal Man (GM): Recap. Kumiko and Gelato and Vetrek are there. Vetrek is busy doing as he said, trying to get all his ducks in a row to get the planet in order. Previously, Zalman went to interfere, but Autumnus appears to be obeying the non-aggression pact... for now... Valron is holding back and watching in the Fy'aar, and Louisoix is watching from the Wing Fortress. Demon and Nonna are going to fight Thanatos directly. Their plan: Lock him down, then seal him using the force field ability imbued from the Wing Fortress' Valhalla orb. And we enter back with Kumiko, Gelato and Vetrek. Last time...
John Tread: "All my buddies died against you... and now with my ill-gotten security guards, you're gonna die!"
Kumiko: "I've had more amusing salads in shoddy Italian restaurants. Your word salad bores me..."
Time Cop Guard: "If you kill him fast enough, we'll offer to work for you again at half price!
John Tread: "No besmirching me awesome chainsaw umbrella!"
Vetrek: "...So... do you want to capture these guys, or blow them to bits?"
Kumiko: "...hell if I were gusty I could probably take you on with ketchup and mustard mechguns. That aside... Think I've had enough..."
Vetrek: "I think a mental hospital escaped and armed its patients against me, based on how that guy behaves..."
Metal Man (GM): And I'll rewrite that confused sentence.
Vetrek: "What, did you escape from a mental hospital and grab the first things in sight to make a weapon, all just to attack me?"
John Tread: "Well to be honest, it's the Questers I have my quarter pounder with beef with. You're jus' collateral. Stoppin' them is stoppin' the murderers who killed Sloan!"
Time Cop Guard: "Let's just get this over with...
Metal Man (GM): Kumiko and Gelato are there, facing off with John Tread. What say you, Kumiko and Gelato?
Gelato: *He looks annoyed.*
John Tread: "If I beat you, I can revive Sloan's army, and kill those filthy Rendarians for betraying Sloan's Empire! Fight me, dragon goo thing! I will make you split in two! And then maybe there will be... two of you? ...What even happens if I do that?"
Time Cop Guard: "Look, let me explain real quick, John. Gelato is a New Quester. You have to completely kill him dead. Then, we have to do a special thing to ensure he doesn't come back."
John Tread: "Right. ...But if I slice him, won't he split in two?"
Metal Man (GM): The Time Cop Guard lights John Tread's umbrella on fire.
Time Cop Guard: "It's on fire now. It should burn him to ashes. I heard about Psycho Illian doing it once. And if you screw up, there's always someone else who wants competent protection."
John Tread: "Bah! You're boring! You're always boring! Whatever! Here, let's make this sporting, since I'm fightin' a lady and a dog. You stand back while I murderize them."
Time Cop Guard: "Your funeral..."
John Tread: "Heheheheheh.....hahahahahaha!" *Revs up chainsaw umbrella.*
Metal Man (GM): Order: Gelato, John Q. Tread
John Tread: "Whassamatter, scared of me? I'm only gonna chainsaw you to bits, and then sing the Diet Pepsi song. It was Sloan's favorite song... may he rest in technicolor peace."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "If you guys need some help I can probably like, have Marley decapitate that guy or something. Or maybe Borne, I dunno. ...Borne says he'd love to but he's busy running the ship. Hm."
Gelato: *He still looks annoyed, walking in and smacking the guy with a Disable. Literally, Smacking Away.*
John Tread: "Gah! What did you do to my chainsaw... no matter, I'll keep tryin'..."
Metal Man (GM): You have 2 AGI remaining. To save or, use, as you please.
Gelato: *He's saving that, just in case.*
John Tread: "In the name of Sloan's technicolor dreamcoat!" *Widely swings at Gelato.*
Metal Man (GM): Dodge, block, or parry? Though Block seems to be the foregone conclusion here.
Gelato: *Of course it's a block.*
Metal Man (GM): He gets in a lucky hit and deals 44 damage. Ouch!
He had only a 21% chance of hitting with that one.
But he's also slow, so... he saves his remaining AGI.
John Tread: "What would a silly guard dog have to say to me, the illustrious John Q. Tread?"
Gelato: 'Uruz.' *Aaaaand full HP.*
John Tread: "Hmph!"
Metal Man (GM): Anything else?
Gelato: :I *He's just standing there now.*
John Tread: "Give it up!" *He swings twice, deciding to go for broke now.*
Metal Man (GM): Both times Gelato blocks, so only 44 damage for both
Total, that is
And now he's out of AGI and breathing heavily.
Vetrek: "You shouldn't bother, you stupid layabout idiot! I'm trying to save the planet, and here you are hurling a chainsaw attack at a non-attacking creature!"
John Tread: "I don't recall you being relevant to this! You're just a bystanding idiot!"
Vetrek: "You can't win against us! And we don't even care about you!"
John Tread: "Bah! I will have my revenge..." *Lamely revs up his chainsaw* "Stupid thing! Getting clogged with goo... what would Sloan do? ...He'd tell me I was stupid for not attacking them with the Golden Gun and having an invincible force field after tricking them into chasing after a washing machine I planted in their HQ. God, why did he and his illogical ability to get awesome cheap weapons have to be killed..."
Metal Man (GM): John Tread remains an obstacle, so up to you what to do, Gelato. He can't seem to overcome your defenses, but he deals some damage, when he does hit, kinda...
John Tread: "I'll... I'll... uh... Time Cop person! Kill them!"
Time Cop Guard: "What, you can't even dent 'em?
John Tread: "Nope!"
Time Cop Guard: "What."
John Tread: "I thought they'd be cute and weak... and all the good weapons were destroyed."
Time Cop Guard: "You're going to owe me so much money for this.
Louisoix: *R* "...well, this is going nowhere. I'll head down, give me a moment." *Things went south with that team real fast, which was unexpected...*
Metal Man (GM): It'll take a round. In the meantime... Anything for this round, Gelato? You can also potentially target the "Time Cop" Guard, who's about to join the battle to aid John Q. Tread.
John Tread: "No! You didn't just let Sloan live, did you? Actions have consequences! I get to kill one of you!"
Vetrek: "He's right. We just need to kill him so he won't bother us with some nobody's death. John Tread, whatever he is, seems to be too pathetic to pose a threat... push him off the railing, Gelato. He can scream to the bottom of the buildings if he wants to get in our way."
Metal Man (GM): Kumiko presumably zoned out a moment, so you can have her react now. Her turn would be after Gelato's.
Kumiko: "What a mess."
John Tread: "Hey, that random person who was staring off of space is talking now too? I guess I can kill them."
Kumiko: "Too bad. This sword craves blood."
Gelato: *He casually wanders over to the railing, stepping off the walkway.*
John Tread: "Hey, that's my line! Just replace sword with chainsaw! Hey! Where do you think you're go--oh. Yes. Die so I don't have to kill you!"
Gelato: *Baton Pass with John.*
Kumiko: "Oh great... so you are THAT guy I belittled. K pal, joke's over"
Metal Man (GM): 62.5% means it needed a 39 or higher to pass.
18 flux would make it work.
You have 20, so... yeah.
He leaps out of the way, then reality warps and he's falling over the side anyways.
Gelato: :I *He sits on the walkway.*
John Tread: "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh-----REJOIN!"
Metal Man (GM): He reappears, facedown, where he last was, breathing heavily. Taking 20 damage from slamming facedown as he does. He dropped his chainsaw, too.
Metal Man (GM): ...And that also means he appeared where Gelato is now, so he gets shoved aside.
Gelato towards the railing. Again.
Metal Man (GM): In this case, it's just an 'implied' accuracy using your Tech since you don't have Normal, but this is like some basic action.
He falls towards the railing again... now to see how effective he is at keeping his footing.
He's incredibly clumsy so he goes off the railing a second time in a row.
And he ran out of AGI using that cast of Rejoin.
John Tread: "You people will paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa---" *SMASH.*
Gelato: "Woof woof."
Time Cop Guard: "You know. I would have saved him. But he didn't use a drink coaster when he put his mug on my desk. Barring a new employer, I have no financial incentive to kill you at the moment. Just don't expect it to stay that way."
Metal Man (GM): The "Time Cop" Guard casually leaps off the railing and warps away. Louisoix appears in time to discover that the enemies all left.
Vetrek: "It's okay. Gelato shoved that guy off of the railing several times and the other guy only wanted cash. The other opportunistic people saw John take a fall and decided they didn't want to join him. But you can always hang out and protect me while I finish my business... almost done. Sorry about that, that one guy was such a loser I was tempted to just shoot him."
Louisoix: "...huh. Guess it DID go somewhere at some point." *He would scratch his head.*
Gelato: *He looks bored.*
Louisoix: "Can you two manage the rest? Or should I fill in until its over?"
Vetrek: "Well, the others are dealing with Thanatos and nobody's gonna interfere with me. I'd say we should be cool for now."
Metal Man (GM): Thus I shall switch over to the other team in a moment, if you guys don't have any further input. That completes this side since... ironically a weird pseudo-battle did result and concluded in classic Dark Souls shoving match style.
Louisoix: *He's raise an eyebrow to Vetrek's usage of the word 'cool' in this situation, but...* "Alright. Keep alert then, you two." *With that, he'd request a transfer back to the ship.*
Metal Man (GM): Louisoix goes back to the ship, and Vetrek is safe, given the people who accosted him weren't too bad. But mostly because Autumnus took Zalman away. If Zalman had fought well... obviously that's different. Anyway, to the other group. Meanwhile Nonna, and Demon are going to deal with Thanatos. You two ready? Thanks to what the other team did, Vetrek managed to arrange that place he said where you could encounter Thanatos without massive casualties.
Nonna: "Let's hope the corps successfully evacuated enough people so this won't turn into a bad party."
Metal Man (GM): The three of you are warped to the spot. It's a rare piece of green land, a park inside Colaxus territory. In the distance are a ton of trucks and tanks which apparently hauled butt to get out of the way and take whoever was here with them, trampling the otherwise nice corporate park in the process.
King Demon: "With our luck?" *Sighs* "Well, we'll do what we need to."
Metal Man (GM): There's a lake in the center, and a bunch of trees across the lake from you. You have about 5 minutes before Thanatos is apparently going to show up. There's bushes over on this side of the lake where you are now. And a bench, and a path.
King Demon: "Well, we should get to... uh... what do we need to do to prepare for him?"
Nonna: "As the primary distractor, I'll stay in plain sight and get his attention. From last time, he'll be expecting you to attack him from behind too, Demon. We want to let him be comfortable and confident in assuming that's what we'll do again. At no point do we want him to suspect there's a third. When he's nice and busy, we'll hold him in place while you seal him. So if we can do that and draw him out, that would be good. Just gotta watch out for stray black holes being flung and deflected around..."
King Demon: "Yeah, I can attack from behind again. it's easier to attack when someone can't defend."
Nonna casts Ward on herself and also Demon, so they'll be able to survive at least one black hole.
Metal Man (GM): Nonna spent 4 AGI on all those magic spells... leaving 2 more if she needs to do anything else while prepping.
Nonna puts Kenaz on herself and Demon too. +10 Accuracy.
Metal Man (GM): And that uses up the AGI of Nonna. Demon notices Thanatos sneaking up on Nonna. Nonna does not notice Thanatos at all.
King Demon draws his sword and faces Thanatos after notifying Nonna.
Nonna: *Turns to see Thanatos, pretending that she knew all along.* "Nice of you to drop by!"
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos stands up after skulking from the grass and takes out a black hole.
Nonna: "That again? You can't solve your problems by throwing black holes at them, you know."
Thanatos: "Now that we are replaying this little episode... this time I'm going to cut the talk and just destroy you both. Unless you wish to do the sane thing and let me destroy Vetrek myself."
King Demon: "Eh... nah."
Thanatos: "Suit yourself."
Nonna charges at Thanatos all of a sudden!
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos does something a bit odd and throws the black hole at Demon while Nonna is charging at him. Nonna: Your attack of choice here? Ah. Which is the first one, then? Since I'm mostly grokking how to process Thanatos chucking the black hole at Demon while you do your action(s).
King Demon he would try to dodge the fuck outta that black hole, and hopefully try to lure Thanatos to a better spot to fight him in.
Metal Man (GM): You can cue up three actions, as long as you have AGI... you used up the 'surprise' round but that was for free.
Nonna's first action: She quickly casts Berkano on Thanatos. Reducing his Agi by 6.
Metal Man (GM): King_Demon: That's not a problem. It may sound horrible but I don't expect any player to have their sheet anymore. I always save it on my computer.
Nonna's Second action: Inguz on herself.
Metal Man (GM): There it is, King_Demon
Editor's Note: Link may be anachronistic but you get the idea.
Nonna's Third action: Cast Lightning Ele on her fists and deliver a superpowered magic punch to his face to try and send him flying, or at least knocked into the ground.
Metal Man (GM): Ok, so the way I'll deal with this is your magic vs. his magic first to see if it hits before he can throw the black hole. He manages to throw it before you hit him. It hits him, draining all his AGI but the black hole has been loosed. Next up, Demon's attempt to dodge the spinning death flying at him.
Demon is hit for 162 damage. Thankfully, it's not an actual black hole. But it hurts like hell!
Then the Ward is consumed by the over the top explosion, which shoves Demon back some from the shockwave.
Inguz + Ele then is fired at Thanatos, who attempts to dodge.
Ah, right. Well, hit is a hit, either way.
Thanatos is hit by the Inguz + Ele.
As you can see, hit.
Nonna: *She punches him square in the jaw with massive electrical force for 300 damage, hopefully towards the target location.*
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos falls backwards towards the planned area to knock him over to. Amazingly, despite the Berkano and all of it, he appears to still be able to move. At this time, though, the shield energy from earlier resonates, granting both Nonna and Demon the ability to wield it.
Thanatos: "Try as you might, you are but children compared to me. I have weathered worse storms, and soon, you will be destroyed!"
King Demon: *Obviously, he swings his sword and throws the aura at Thanatos.*
Nonna: *She charges up the aura and unleashes it at Thanatos in tandem with Demon.*
Metal Man (GM): Hm, that was the 'quick slash' by accident. But you hit even with me rolling the slower, worse attack.
So that's a hit either way.
I realize now it's easy for me to recalculate if I misroll. I need to add that feature.
Since I just reuse the 78 and run it with the correct numbers for odds.
Conveniently gets rid of any "Oops I rolled wrong" moments by reusing the proper RNG result.
Either way, he is hit. The damage is fairly secondary (he took 300 damage without flinching) to the fact that he's surrounded by the field from the Valhalla. For some reason, even this does not shake him. Though it does prevent him from hitting you, or moving anywhere.
Nonna: "Demon, keep him held down until it's done!"
Thanatos: "You want to capture me? What foolishness is this..."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a monocle of some sort and inspects the field.
Thanatos: "The lost sphere of Valhalla's energy."
King Demon: "Nobody ever said we wanted to kill you." *He shrugs and contemplates how best to keep him contained* (basically free attacks now?)
Metal Man (GM): Well, that's the funny part about it. He's sealed in there perfectly, and can't move out of the sphere, but you can push the sphere around. So you can't really attack him, just move the sphere. But inside the sphere he is still able to react, just that he can't really hit you either, and the field isn't letting him move it... too much....
Thanatos: "A demon and a lowly human capturing a dragon... is this what farce you wish to perpetrate? Of course, someone so weak as to rely on a device like that to channel magic is already captured... by their own inability to free-cast."
Metal Man (GM): He disappointedly taps the field some.
Thanatos: "Of course, I can't drink your blood or shred you to bits, but..."
Metal Man (GM): The field is fully reinforced... and it becomes Thanatos' turn.
King Demon: *Shrugs* "Well, that was actually easier than I expected..."
Thanatos: "This is truly a splendid force field you have. In fact, I don't think I can do anything about it."
Metal Man (GM): He then makes a magic gesture of his own.
Thanatos: "Why don't you catch me, then?"
Metal Man (GM): ...The sphere begins flying at Demon with Thanatos inside of it. Yes. Yes he just Kinesis'd himself. This is now literally Dragon Ball.
King Demon: "Seriously?!?" *M* "Why didn't I learn to create portals?"
Metal Man (GM): Dodging, Demon, or something else? You can also try to block, if you wish. You have a higher dodge, though.
King Demon: *Yeah, he's dodging, since he has so little block.*
Metal Man (GM): For whatever it is worth, it's not as immediately lethal as being hit by a black hole, just... the entire mass of a dragon hurtling at you.
85 damage. That dragon is pretty hefty.
Now, however, you get a chance to further recover, because his AGI was so thoroughly destroyed.
But you can tell he's preparing to go all out if he gets a chance to recover.
Thanatos: "The only thing that annoys me is there isn't a lot of oxygen in here. I'm going to get really tired of smelling my own breath."
King Demon: "I figured something was up."
Nonna arrives on the scene and stares weirdly at him. "So uh... I guess we have to stop him from moving now."
King Demon: "Yeah... so... can anything we try to hit him with actually get through that or does the barrier keep us from hurting him as much as it does him hurting us?"
Nonna: "I could try freezing him in ice. Or we could reduce the oxygen in there so it makes him pass out. If you set off a fire inside an enclosed space, it'll quickly eat the oxygen away. But then we run the risk of him manipulating the fire itself..."
King Demon: "Therein lies the trick, huh?"
Louisoix: *R* "I think if you guys simply raise the temperature of the area around the sphere, he'll pass out quicker. Demon, your body is naturally hot, right? See if you guys can't get him into a position where you can use your body temp to raise that area's temperature high enough."
Thanatos: "If I can't get the magic to go outside and hit you, there's no way you can get it in here."
Nonna looks around the ground below them.
Metal Man (GM): Grass, dirt, the lake is watery...
Nonna: "If that fails, I have another idea."
King Demon: "Hmmmm, I'm gonna probably regret this but..." *He approaches the ball and tries to light the area around it on fire.*
Nonna: "It'll require all of us working together."
King Demon: *Actually would light himself on fire, trying to get the air around him to heat up, and hopefully the orb with it.*
Nonna: "Demon, you heat this earth up so it becomes molten, and surrounds the sphere in it. I'll then cool it so if solidifies around him, so he can no longer move around. With any luck, this rock barrier will prevent him from moving around."
Metal Man (GM): Demon lights himself on fire. And thus, even more Dark Souls references happen by accident. The orb heats up. However, being a dragon, Thanatos doesn't seem to mind too much. However, the heat is causing it to become increasingly hot in there.
Thanatos: "This is amusing. I just have to ask. Is this stupid dirtball so important to you you'd put on this weird magic show JUST to get me out of your hair? I should have brought the Blade of Sundering to break your stupid little orb."
King Demon: "Never heard of that." *Shrugs.*
Thanatos: "Well. The Orb of Destruction would be able to cancel it out but I can tell that you have the source of this energy nearby. Such a link is too strong for me..."
Nonna: "Why would we bother caring about a loser like you, Thanatos?"
Thanatos: "And once inert, the energies here cannot just be casually dismantled either."
Nonna: "Just another cockroach to be taken out of the picture to make everything nice and clean again."
Thanatos: "Let's see you say that after I run you over a couple dozen times." *Not yet fully contained by dirt, he Kinesises himself at Nonna. Dodge, parry, or block?*
Nonna: *Parry him into the ground!*
Metal Man (GM): Also it IS possible to damage him by doing that very thing... He moves too fast and hits Nonna for 85 damage with his girth + the orb acting as the kinetic force.
Nonna tries to hold onto it once it rams into her.
Metal Man (GM): Given when it hits you you are stuck to it for a moment before the Kinesis runs out... you're now holding onto it.
Thanatos: "Hm... that is difficult... even if I use you as a shield and crash into trees, it just won't be the same..."
Nonna: "You're not going anywhere, loser." *Damage is negated by Ward anyway.*
Thanatos: "To the contrary. I'm going to take you on a journey... a journey out of here."
Nonna: "Oh, really?"
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos starts casting his Kinesis spells one after another, making the sphere pick up speed and now start moving outside of the park at higher and higher speeds.
King Demon: "Man, suddenly I wish I had a hammer, not a sword..."
Nonna: "Good thing I can stop you dead in your tracks!"
Metal Man (GM): Demon would see the sphere just start driving off all of a sudden.
Thanatos: "Well, go ahead."
Nonna: *Would try to use Berkano to stop him whenever she could.*
King Demon: "Dammit, now we gotta go chasing after them." *Sighs and takes off running after the others. Though, he does put himself out at least.*
Metal Man (GM): The sphere blocks the Berkano; it becomes clear that the only reason Kinesis works is that it's pushing from inside the sphere, sort of like an invisible force hurling itself inside. And it's now hurtling towards the edge of this area's tall building like area. Speaking of that, you see Valron in the Fy'aar nearby, as well as the Wing Fortress. And Valron would see the absurdity that is a dragon in a sphere hurtling towards a cliff with Nonna holding on to it.
Nonna: "Time to go for Plan B, then!"
Valron: "...Well, then."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Am I seeing a flying dragon ball or did I drink the wrong whiskey again?"
Thanatos: "Now we shall see how well you handle us both crashing 100 stories down to the ground!"
Valron: *R* "Somehow, I don't think that this is another shared hallucination."
Metal Man (GM): He's out of range of Demon, but Demon makes it to the edge.
Nonna uses Laguz to create a pillar of water underneath them.
King Demon: *R* "Yes, there is a flying dragon, and odds are you DID drink the wrong whiskey."
Louisoix: "...No, you aren't." *His idea seemed to fail, considering his lack of knowledge of dragon anatomy.*
Nonna: *And then uses an Ice ele right before letting go, to trap him inside a frozen pillar connected to the building itself.*
Metal Man (GM): Hm. He used up his kinesis, so now it's a question of your magical ability vs. that of the stored mass... Despite the dicey chances of it succeeding, you manage to catch it. The pillar cracks ominously as it barely holds...
Metal Man (GM): Nonna freezes the sphere temporarily into the ice pillar, but Thanatos is busy chuckling and readying another onslaught of Kinesis.
King Demon: *He'd be chasing after them, presumably it'll take a while for him to catch up?*
Thanatos: "SO stubborn... yet so useless. No matter where I am, I can keep doing this forever..." *He coughs a bit.*
Nonna takes a deep breath.
Thanatos: "And when this breaks, you'll still have me to deal with, so what is the point?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "So uh... we see that you have Thanatos there. I figure you might want us to, er, help a bit?"
Metal Man (GM): Demon catches up to where Thanatos is.
Valron: "Right, then. Enough of this rubbish." *And while Thanatos is busy blowharding... it's time for Valron to put his ship to use, countering the Kinesis castings the other dragon is unleashing with, a series of Kinesises of his own!*
Nonna: "That'd be nice"
Louisoix: "Xavier, anything I can help with on that?" *He'd turn to him to get a response.*
Metal Man (GM): They run up and observe a giant MTA/Fy'aar hybrid begin smashing the orb into the ground so hard it and the ice is embedded and then sealed over with dirt.
Thanatos: "...Why didn't anyone tell me you had a gigantic mecha? Damn it! I was holding back because you seemed to be a pack of traveling brats! Not some paramilitary nutcases!"
Thanatos: "Can't send any radio signals out of here... otherwise I'd have my soldiers blow you to bits... no matter what that fool told you, they'd still do it even if Vetrek said otherwise. Heh heh heh..."
Nonna: "It'll be harder for him to move with all that weight!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Well, I figure we can just have Valron yank the whole mess out of the building and we can seal him inside the Wing Fortress... then send him to prison somewhere really secure so he doesn't kill us all. I mean, he killed a bunch of bystanders, and was about ready to destroy most of that building before you trapped him in that debris."
Metal Man (GM): You can hear useless Kinesis castings, as he smashes against the stuff containing him to no avail.
King Demon: "So let's get to doing it. I could use a health potion... and probably some new clothes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Zinyo has given us a wide range of clothes you could wear. Of course, they're all in gray and blue."
Nonna: "I need a nice bath after all of this..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Well, if we get him on the ship, we can use the original Valhalla sphere to power it indefinitely. At the risk of us being unshielded until we deal with him. So still crucial we figure it out quickly. But... better than having to rush, don't you think?"
King Demon: *R* "Of course..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Valron can probably carry the mess up here, I'll open the landing bay. We have a Stargate, we might be able to send him so far away he can't easily come back or something crazy like that..."
Louisoix: *R* "Alright. Kind of expected more on this end, guess up here you guys have your bases covered."
Valron: *R* "Yeah, shouldn't be too difficult. Just tell me how much I'll need to tear out to ensure the seal holds and I'll get right on it."
Metal Man (GM): Louisoix can spend an action to give Valron a good idea of where he should rip it out of the building, from his vantage point. Louisoix gives Valron the proper coordinates to rip the orb and the dirt around it without ruining the mega-building or dropping him.
Valron: *He nods as he takes note of the proper coordinates, double-checking them to make sure as he goes to engage the rippening.*
Louisoix: "Sending you the coordinates." *He would let Valron know in advance.* "Thankfully just watching from here gives me an idea. The sooner we send him somewhere that's not here the better, though its only a temporary solution..."
Metal Man (GM): Valron rips it out, and is now able to deposit the imprisoned destructo-dragon in the Wing Fortress. The Wing Fortress lands on the park to allow the others to board.
Louisoix: "Good work." *He would mention to the others.* "Wish I was more help out there, but you guys had it handled at least."
Nonna gets on too.
King Demon enters, grumbling a bit.
Valron: *And back he goes, ready to deposit one of the stranger catches he's made.*
Metal Man (GM): The dirt-encrusted mass is placed in the docking bay. The Valhalla field engages, holding it all into place. Xavier swings around to pick up Gelato and Kumiko, next.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Based on the reports I'm hearing, Vetrek has taken over the most of the planet, while the remaining Zinyo part is also stable. The mysterious fleets outside have left and things are now stable with Zinyo and Vetrek being the two major rulers of the planet, now."
Louisoix: "As much as I disagree with this Vetrek fellow... good, at least. Order is restored." *He nodded.* "Though that still brings to question this temporarily alliance with Autumnus... that was curious."
King Demon: "Good to hear. I suppose all we have left to do for now is deposit what's sure to be a rather pissed off dragon somewhere he won't be a further problem and we can be done with this mess."
Louisoix: "I found that Autumnus situation curious. I'm not sure I believe half the things he said, but it seems things are in order here."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I expected Autumnus to attack us, to be honest."
Nonna: "His men were here. We called him out on it: Either leave or at least help us with Thanatos if you're going to stay. He chose to leave."
Louisoix: "I did as well, considering what I heard..."
Nonna: "Even supervillains have a face to save."
Louisoix: "Speaking of... what IS your plan on that? I'm not sure what will hold him for that long, I'm sure we'll have to deal with him eventually..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The sphere of Valhalla is holding Thanatos in a field so powerful it managed to survive several direct hits from Psycho Illian's death ship. However, we're rather vulnerable while we do this, so we should hurry lest somebody figure it out and blow the Wing Fortress to bits like the old days used to be."
Nonna: "While you guys figure that out, I'll have that bath."
Valron: "Right, then."
Louisoix: *He'd watch Nonna walk off.* "Hmm. I'm surprised your team did as well as it did, considering the circumstances." *Was that some form of praise?* "Anyway, you say we should hurry, but to where? Do you actually know of some sort of high security prison that can hold this guy?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Makes sense. I'll see what leads I can find for dealing with Thanatos. In the meantime, everyone can rest while we get something set up."
Louisoix: "...you sure you don't need help with that? We have less than 24 hours."
Nonna settles into a nice bath. The water kind, rather than the plasma and radiation varieties.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Me? Well. You can help me. I mean, I would expect after resting a bit people could help me as well."
Louisoix: "Lets do that, then. It wasn't like I was doing much so I don't need the rest. Also I'm an android."
King Demon: "Eh, I need to change my clothes... and preferably find some that are FIREPROOF... but then I could see what I can do."
Valron: "And I didn't exactly do all that much to begin with, so if you need another assistant, then I'd be more than willing to help out. May even speed the process up a bit..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Note to self: Ask Ivan for fireproof clothes. Right. We can get to work right now, then."
Metal Man (GM): I'll have that be as the end for this session. Next session: Louisoix, Valron, and Xavier get to work finding out what to do with Thanatos, plus the others depending who's around.
Recap: Last time, the New Questers trapped Thanatos in a field aboard the Wing Fortress. Using the Valhalla field, they ensured that the field would hold. However, the Wing Fortress is now in danger of attack, should an attack occur. No invinciforcefield up at the moment. Louisoix, Xavier, and Valron decided to try to figure out what to do with Thanatos, alongside whoever else happens to be around. And... actually, we start with just that, on the Wing Fortress. It's still somewhat of a mystery how Vetrek is doing on the surface, also. Continuation Xavier is at the bridge.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hmmmm... Nova. What can we do to deal with Thanatos?."
Nova: "You have no clue. Thanatos may be temporarily stunned, but he can probably figure out how to dispell the field... eventually."
Louisoix: "That means we have less time than usual."
Nova: "You could potentially try to kill him, though. The Anti-Reality Gun Borne is working on might work on him."
Louisoix: "Yes, maybe. If everyone teamed together there's a slim chance that could work, too."
Nova: "Barring that... the Sword of Light, or perhaps even something Illian has. I know you aren't big on killing people. But I really doubt he's going to befriend you, or even withhold his wrath."
Louisoix: "Though I think we're short on time to figure out something useful. Though this coming from me. I'd prefer to have more certainty."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It would be easy enough to throw him into the sun. But..." *He taps his foot* "It seems... potentially wasteful. What do you guys think?"
Valron: "Wasteful in what way, exactly?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He knows something. He's said things about 'Outliers' and 'Virtual entities' if I recall what Louisoix told me..."
Louisoix: "...he did, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We may not have much time... but I wonder if we could get information out of him."
Valron: "I doubt he'd be all that willing to spill that sort of info."
Louisoix: "That would be difficult. The guy is not threatened by anything, his ego is way too big."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He doesn't seem to like Time Cops, either. It might make sense to figure out how to exile him somewhere far away. Although that might not work. He may always hate us now that we humiliated him... heh."
Louisoix: "That might be for the best, and would be good leverage anyway. If we can secure him, we could gain leverage. If we threaten him with death he'll just see through it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's true. An entity--"
Louisoix: "Big if though."
Metal Man (GM): The ship violently shakes.
Nova: "He's trying to Kinesis free. I'm holding him. For now."
Louisoix: "Bigger if."
Metal Man (GM): Nova smiles a bit.
Valron: "...He's still trying that, huh."
Nova: "He doesn't know what to make of me."
Metal Man (GM): Yes. Everyone is on the ship currently. This is on the Bridge, so anyone can just join in here.
Valron: "Need help holding him in place?"
Louisoix: "Anyway, you were saying, Xavier?"
Kumiko: "...great. So the bastard doesn't know how to calm down"
Nova: "At this point, no. I'll note if I do. You know who I am, Valron, but the others probably do not."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, basically, an entity named 'Thanatos' obviously doesn't fear death. But I might have an idea on how to contain him if we simply want to imprison him..."
Louisoix: "What are you thinking, then?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We'd need to risk potential ship combat and fly all the way to Nintendus."
Kumiko: "We've got our hands full then. Is he still incarcerated?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Nova is holding him currently."
Nonna: "He's a rogue everywhere he goes. Even his own planet views him unfavourably. And yet, he got his powers from somewhere, and he learned things about the universe from someone."
Louisoix: "Nintendus? What for?"
Kumiko: "Sounds like a way to get rid of that creep. Or something."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "If we flew to Nintendus, we would possess the ability to use the prison facilities there. We could seal him away using the legendary Sacred Realm... well, Dark World. Ganondorf wouldn't mind."
Valron: "Are just gonna drive him completely mad or something?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "No. It's just a means to seal him away and forget about him. Entirely. If we don't want to just kill him, I guess..."
Nonna: "I fear he is only the beginning of something bigger."
Nova: "Nonna is correct. He is probably another node in a larger inter-universal system."
Louisoix: "Huh. Well, if you know of a place like that, that's useful. What ship combat are you expecting, though?"
Kumiko: "Oddly enough, I agree. But one problem at a time..."
Nova: "I sense a pattern that is oddly familiar. Before Garrick lost his mind, we were searching for something, you know..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Space Pirates. Possibly more mysterious 'Time Cop' related bandits."
Valron: "Either way, once we safely dispose of him, we should find a way to seize his assets, if only so as to deal with that rubbish. When we have the time, anyways."
Louisoix: "So if we seal him in the dark world, we won't be able to get back to him?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He'd likely be lost inside there, destroying things without any purpose. So it's when we're done with him that we'd do that, I'd figure. It's not a forever prison, though. It tends to weaken every couple of hundred of years."
Nova: "We need to interrogate this thing. It knows something. What me and Garrick wanted to find... we noticed a pattern before he lost his mind. The universe has various places in it where power exists. Clearly he has contact with some of it... as did Omnus... as did others before."
Louisoix: "What a catch-22. My thought would be to imprison him long enough to then draw that information out as leverage, but this strategy is what should be done as an end goal. Since death won't threaten him, and he is likely to not budge on immediate threats. You would need to put him in a position where he knows he can't win. And he soaks in it for a while."
Nonna: "He appears to be powered mostly by magic. A realm in which his connection to it is blocked would be the most efficient solution."
Nova: "A realm without magic..."
Louisoix: "...true. Wasn't it said some time ago that certain realms have certain magical signatures? Is there some realm in which no magic is present?"
Nova: "Only in the past, created by Illian. Then undone by Xavier."
Kumiko: "...this sounds like a risky gambit."
Louisoix: "How far back in the past?"
Nova: "That was the original thought Garrick and Illian had."
Valron: "...Huh. Think we might be able to shunt him off to there without too much of a hassle?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The problem is, unless Thanatos has a limited lifetime, he would clearly be able to live until it vanishes. I'd rather not revisit that place, personally. It was during the purview of Psycho Illian. Just opening the portal could cause him to do something to effect our present."
Louisoix: "...well, if antimagic is the deal then no... that would cause a problem."
Nonna: "And assuming nobody comes to fetch him, much like what the Time Cops tried to do with Vetrek once we got him."
Louisoix: "No, it seems we don't have that option, then. That's unfortunate. Too risky."
Valron: "Just a bit, to say the least."
Louisoix: "Though its idea could be used elsewhere. You said the Dark World weakens every 100 years. When was the last time it did?"
Nova: "About 20 years ago. It was around the time the Questers were there. It has held since. Ganondorf left it and hasn't broken the seal since."
Valron: "Sounds like we should be good for the next long while. Provided 80 years doesn't happen on Nintendus behind our backs, anyways."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah. As stupid as it sounds, time randomly advancing there isn't out of the question... we'll need to be careful about that."
Louisoix: "Hm. Well, as it stands it could be used as the proper leverage I was talking about. Let him soak it in for a few years, then offer an ultimatum for information. If anything, if he doesn't crack we have time to look into it ourselves."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We just have to get there, then, I guess... without a force field... well, we can get an escort I guess."
Louisoix: "And a way to deal with him permanently that's more guaranteed. We have simulation data now I imagine but we won't be sure what will work with this little time."
Nova: "It seems like he wants to talk to us. If you want to talk to this Thanatos person. I doubt he has anything much to tell us but he stopped psychotically doing kinesis. He gave up when he identified my magic as 'Outlier devilry'. He called me... ...a hard-light person? What does that even mean?"
Louisoix: "Oh? Well, I'll look into this force field business and escorts you mentioned. Maybe we don't have to go that far if we can get him to talk now. That would be surprising though."
Nova: "It's not the sort of thing we want, intel-wise. But he is blathering on about us serving the Time Cops."
Valron: "Probably something about your body's composition, Nova. Either way... it may be worth humoring, at least."
Nova: "Well here's his discussion I guess..."
Thanatos: "--And another thing, you pathetic hard-light being! The Time Cops--oh. You are trying to show what I'm saying. Well it's all the same. You got in the middle of my own plans to stop the Time Cops and then decided to stop me as well. Vetrek was their puppet, I was going to kill him and then eat his corpse to ensure nobody could puppet him. Then I would rule Onta'vis and be able to kill all the Time Cops once I--well that part is secret now isn't it? It's still valuable information. But as you already know what I've told you. You're going to lose to the Time Cops. They can go back in time and kill all of your families before you're born. They just can't do the same to me because... another thing I won't tell you, naturally. I don't know what you plan to do with me, but even killing me won't stop me. I have so many aces you are nothing more than a bunch of jokers. Virtual beings... you aren't even real. You don't know what a real existence is. You came from beyond to infest the world with morals that were programmed into you by outsiders. The Time Cops allowed your world to exist for reasons I don't know. Then they screwed up and you escaped! And now you're everywhere, trying to be good guys. Well those of us who know the truth know you're no different from Time Cops--and in fact will seamlessly replace them if you somehow defeat them. I have nothing more to say, however. I don't need to have anyone come and bail me out. No matter where you place me I will return to Chark. This field is obviously stolen, magic you don't even properly know how to wield. That hard-light being you have is also stolen, and also something you don't know how to wield. It's all stolen! You have no true artistry of your own! And so you have no hope against those who actually build their own. Say what you want, but you cannot intimidate me. I do not have anything to lose because if I did, I would have already lost."
Editor's Note: Heh, he predicted the Questers eventually displacing the Time Cops, but not in the way he said...
Nova: "And so on, and so on. Occasionally he goes silent but he's clearly certain we can't stop him. Is he for real? Or is he the one who's bluffing?"
Nonna: "What a lunatic."
Valron: "Good to see he's still more than capable of running his mouth."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "My family... ...I don't know where they are, and most likely, neither do the Time Cops."
Nonna: "Moralizing while seeing nothing wrong with nuking civilians for the crime of being in the same plane of existence as him."
Kumiko: "Right. Run your mouth on existence to someone who questions their existence as they don't remember their past. Heh"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I mean, it baffles the mind why they wouldn't have used my family as hostages in all this time, already. And Illian killed everyone related to him."
Nonna: "Accuses us of being Time Cops, then saying we'll lose to the Time Cops?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Borne actually would probably be happy to see Mad Molly dead... The bad joke is last I heard, Autumnus had her hostage to ensure Borne couldn't kill her."
Kumiko: "I do think he's bluffing to an extent"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He would have a point, if there was any family for them to target. For most of us, that isn't an option. For the rest, it's probably not worth the potential time damage they take warping that far back in time... Otherwise I would have been okay with us warping all the way back to the dead Nintendus, also. Barring Psycho Illian, it might have been worth it just to watch that maniac become powerless. But... that's the thing. Now that we have all these Time Devices, it's best noted that time travel damages your body and soul. It's the reason I lost my mind and Illian became... uh... ...whatever you even call him these days. Human flesh and even circuitry can't really take it. It... scrambles the neurons and the circuitry. Only reason I survived flinging myself back on Nintendus was the Smash Energy. Which... then of course, is corruption to itself if misused."
Valron: "Yeah, I doubt the Time Cops would really have any idea of where to go if they wanted to go that far back to get rid of me. Their only real option for offing me in the past is kinda... well, cataclysmically bad, given the whole 'Psycho Illian is there' thing."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You just can't win, I guess! Yeah. They can go back in time to the old days and go fight Psycho Illian. Last I heard he killed anyone trying to interfere with his plans back when. He had that bubble in time all to himself. As much as I've been tempted to try to free Locos from his bad fate, and all that. Psycho Illian means even things like that are off limits. He only let me go back in time in that Confrontation era because, well. I'm sure he wanted that Smash Energy too. I mean, unlike Garrick, he didn't have any hang-ups about using it. So... I guess we'll head to Nintendus. Unless there's any objections or other ideas? Not gonna stay long, mind you. I don't want to tempt fate."
Valron: "And I'm absolutely bizarre, considering I have this whole cocktail of Smash and Alsan energy running through me, so..." *Shrugs* "In any case, I wouldn't mind heading off now."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Nintendus has its own problems that are, well..."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier casually engages the levers and turns a bunch of cranks and the ship heads towards Nintendus, which is still a ways away.
Valron: "...Yeah. Best not linger there, lest we get dragged into some overly-wacky distraction."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "As much as we could end them before they begin, the villains there have been reportedly prone to beefing up if they decide they want to pick a fight with something bigger than usual. Ganondorf is still someone who, if he went rogue, would be about one and a half Vetreks. It's a small wonder he hasn't done anything... then again, he probably remembers us blowing up all of reality by accident."
Nova: "Ganondorf has retired to continually attacking Link. It's much less difficult for him to do. His complaint about you people is that you don't use the Master Sword. All those bullets left... permanent scars."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The sicko prefers to be killed by the Master Sword? Here I thought I was twisted."
Nova: "It's a ritual thing. He is released and destroyed every so often. ...On that note..."
Metal Man (GM): Nova casually points over to Nonna.
Valron: "Mind, once we do drop Thanatos off, I wouldn't mind a quick detour to Alsa if we've got time. S'nothing major, I mainly just want to pick up that mech Borne just kinda left sitting in the ocean. After that, we can focus on... proper business stuff."
Nova: "Do you have any Rendarian business you need to do? It's easily accessible on the way back, if you need to."
Nonna: "It's been a while since I've been home, true."
Nova: "Anthon chose Rendar due to its proximity to Nintendus. And so it's not too hard to visit on the way back. I might suggest we prepare for the next Time Cop engagement and handle any business that might be settling..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Aren't I the one who does leading around here?"
Nova: "You forget to make coffee in the morning! I am just re-iterating all your notes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh... ...oh no, I've left the coffee pot on for five days straight without drinking it..."
Nova: "I'll have you know the pot's burnt straight through! That's the third time, too."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I guess you're right, talking flashlight."
Nova: "Now that's an even worse name than what the dragon called me..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sorry, but it gets weird telling a picture of a guy that talks that he's 'Nova.'"
Nonna: "I just... wonder. What it is with Thanatos, and Autumnus malfunctioning."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah. I'm afraid you might have to ask the authorities on Time Cops about that. Lyx would know. But we haven't seen him in an eternity. Oh... if you still talk to Tom, maybe he knows?"
Nonna: "His name did get dropped again recently."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I can only figure that he's still out there and involved in things."
Nonna: "Then again, we parted on a note that we'd likely never speak again."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That certainly would make it unlikely for you to speak with him..."
Louisoix: "...hmm, best I can do on the shields. There's minimal power, but not a whole lot to deal with anything serious though." *He shrugged.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah... you know, that reminds me, the shields are still haunted or something else strange. Maybe sometime Kit can help fix that, since we need all we can get."
Louisoix: "Huh, hope I didn't catch anything."
Valron: "Didn't Kit already fix things up in there a bit? Mind, not all the way, but it was a start."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Probably... I'm forgetful in my... not-so-old age."
Nonna: "Chances are, Tom's long gone. Though perhaps we'll meet again soon. Things always come around full circle in this universe."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "That is true. That is probably also true."
Nonna: "Another thing I'm concerned about is the other Nonna."
Louisoix: "...other Nonna? ...you people get stranger by the minute."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Don't get me started on the air conditioner filled with tiny blob beings."
Valron: "The ones Gelato ate?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah. I'm sure they tasted funny."
Nonna: "Another version of me from another dimension. Or at least, that's the impression I got. Have yet to actually meet her, though..."
Louisoix: "Ah. Well, for now I think this dark world idea is the best we have right now."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We should figure out about that other Nonna, that is for certain."
Louisoix: "If we come up with something better we can do that later."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What would she be up to, anyway? I recall she helped us once..."
Nonna: "She has something planned, but has been content to just sit on the sidelines and watch. Except for that time she destroyed Omnus' shield so we could finish off one of his bodies."
Valron: "How odd."
Nova: "Ah... yes... They had a specific frequency. And were in a part of the universe that was very dangerous to go to. That's what my records indicate."
Nonna: "...Somehow I doubt it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I guess that leads to the question. Is she evil?"
Metal Man (GM): Xavier takes out the Sword of Light, holding it up, as it glows.
Nonna: "She had lots of stuff around indicating a less than stable state of mind."
Louisoix: "Oh you know how those tropes go, totally evil. I'm sure she has a goatee."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "There's been an Evil Wolfman. Evil Questers as well."
Louisoix tries to imagine it...
Xavier Ridgecrest: "But the weird part is they usually didn't help us. That does make sense. If Omnus is such a problem for her... could our Nonna attack her with Omnus?"
Valron: "She just seems to be one of those anomalous factors we don't really know much of anything about..."
Metal Man (GM): The ship continues on its flight towards Nintendus, now making it through an area marked as 'less than safe.'
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's just such a difficult thing... we can't take too many sneak attacks if we want to win against the Time Cops. How do we even begin to stop the Time Cops, anyway?"
Nonna: "Although, based on what I've learned, she is said to possess enough power that she was compared to Psycho Illian. So... you can imagine why I'm not too keen on confronting her yet."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm, that too is true. We might have to use more powerful tools if we are to defeat her. If push comes to shove... we might even need the ghastly weapons such as the Anti-Reality Gun."
Metal Man (GM): Some ships are up ahead. They start to hail on the radio.
Louisoix: "Already eh?"
Space Pirate Commander: *R* "Attention flying scrap-ship. We are the Space Pirates. Allow us to take all of your useless scrap metal and you will be spared. Otherwise you will be shot full of laser-holes."
Valron: "Want me to give them a piece of my mind?"
Louisoix: "Already, then." *He'd sit down at one of the terminals and start tabbing through it.* "First time doing this, though really... was my idea. Orders?"
Nonna: *R* "Sure you want to raid the ship belonging to the worst space mafia group in the system?"
Space Pirate Commander: *R* "Eh? Which one? I've heard there are some nice bounties on those... ...and also some bad stories..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Let's see what their reaction to Nonna is first."
Louisoix: "Sure. She has a way with words after all."
Nonna: *R* "The one with the biggest guns." *Gets them charged up as a show of force R* "Up to you. We'd rather not waste the energy, really, but what else should we do if some ships are in our way?"
Metal Man (GM): The guns charge up and....
Editor's Note: CLIFFHANGER!
