Metal Man (GM): Nonna helped recover Marley from the depths of his alcoholic madness. There, he explained how he felt worthless after the end of his whole career on Alsa. Then came to terms with the fact that his former enemies were ultimately better allies now than some of his past 'allies' had ever been. The group moved up their plans to stop Vetrek, also. It became clear something serious was going down and thus they shouldn't wait. Additionally that the 'Dragon Person' there, who apparently was angry at Marley's behavior, and tried to shoot up the Questers and Marley when they were getting him out of the 'danger zone'--thus, the intrigue is multi-dimensional: Vetrek is supported by the Time Cops, while the mysterious 'anti-virtual weapon' possessing dragon person is out there and also shoving things around. We continue in the hotel, with most of the stuff packed up in there, and Xavier prepping something. Continuation.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So. It's sort of come time for us to begin. The plan last I remember was a bunch of us were going to intercept Vetrek before his meeting ever takes place--also before the time that we're expected to."
Metal Man (GM): The New Questers are all there, and thus, can go on and put their two cents in.
Nonna: "Yeah. Given that our cover somehow got blown to that dragon guy, and that the Time Cops are even more deeply involved than we first thought, ambushing him at the designated time would all but guarantee our being ambushed ourselves. If not by the time cops, then by the third party."
Valron: "Yeah, it definitely sounds like accelerating things would be the best course of action, to say the least."
Nonna: "However, while capturing Vetrek is the main goal, I have reason to believe that the third party is actually the larger threat here."
Louisoix: "Well, our cover isn't that well hidden, I'm sure it wouldn't take long for them to find us here."
Nonna: "What worries me is that the Time Cop plant has no idea we're here, but this mysterious person not only knows who we are, but through some unknown means figured out we're here, now, and has been working on a superweapon specifically designed to affect us. And none of us have any idea who he is or where he comes from. That's... worrying."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yeah. Compared to Sloan or the Time Cops, he's clearly got too many connections here. If we just keep ignoring him we're probably toast. Since I know that the Time Cops only indirectly controlled this planet. It's not the same as dealing with someone who... clearly lives here."
Nonna: "If he lives here. That kind of reverence and fear that Lou reported by the locals around him doesn't make much sense unless he's part of some caste that we're not aware of, or some sort of visitor who is above the law for some reason or another. The recruiter for the magic guild said most everyone in the ruling caste had already been bought out by Vetrek already, and those who remain aren't even able to oppose him openly. Yet here's this guy openly expressing his distaste for the guy."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm, good point. What kind of guy is exempt from that? Maybe we should ask that recruiter again?"
Nonna: "In any case, he is likely to be our greatest threat here. Vetrek is too much of an obvious 'villain', so I believe he may be allowing us to roam free so that we may go after Vetrek, and then plans to perhaps utilize that superweapon or something else on us when we're all gathered in one place. Kill two birds with one stone. And yes, that's a good idea. I can try contacting him now."
Valron: "Certainly wouldn't hurt to check, at least..."
Nonna tries to contact him.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The more we know, the less likely we get caught off guard... which reminds me, we eventually will want data on the planet."
Louisoix: "What kind of data?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Basically knowledge on who's who. A sort of phonebook."
Nonna: "I have a feeling it'll be for the best if we split into two teams for this."
Metal Man (GM): A moment goes by, which is seemingly some sort of... check that you're someone that this person wants to talk to, then they pick up the phone. *Takes a sec to use the right name.*
Louisoix: "Hm... I could probably do that."
Nonna: *R* "I'd like to inquire as to the identity of a particular dragonic fellow who has been cited as a potential risk for the operation at the buyout meeting."
Metal Man (GM): Ah. "Suitman."
Suitman: *R* "Ah... who is it, I mean, what color are they? Any... more specific information? There are a handful of them around."
Nonna submits a security recording still of the dragon guy.
Suitman: *R* "..." *Spends a moment to compose himself* "That... is a very bad person." *R* "His 'true name' is unknown. It's a thing with them to hide their true name. But we've taken to calling that one Thanatos."
Nonna: *R* "We figured. ...'them'?"
Suitman: *R* "The draconic entities on this planet as a whole, they tend to culturally hide their true names from anyone but those they know closely. This person though, Thanatos... he is a powerful being from another planet who recently took over the Colaxus corporation. We didn't think he had anything to do with current events because he's usually not here."
Valron: *To himself* "...Well, that's certainly a name that isn't ominous at all, nosiree." *Shakes his head.*
Nonna: *R* "And by took over, you mean in the... Vetrek sense?"
Suitman: *R* "Ah, if only he was that sort of person. It's alleged he killed everyone who ran that corporation that objected, and the rest had no choice. Thanatos. He kills people who displease him. You are... well, you are blessed with magic, so seemingly he isn't impossible for the likes of you to deal with... but extreme caution is warranted. If he's involved he might be angling to either partner up with Vetrek, force Vetrek to do his bidding, or even fight somebody else entirely. He is known to mostly ignore what's going on to do whatever he wants. It's that way in which he can either be completely irrelevant, or perhaps the last thing you see before you die."
Nonna: *R* "Is this a planet Onta'vis has a treaty with or something? Mainly asking since he appears to have a hate-on for Vetrek too, so it'd be good to know which planets or systems to avoid if we take Vetrek out first and that ticks him off or something."
Suitman: *R* "Ah, the dragons hail from the planet of Chark. It's outside the system but next door, metaphorically speaking. It's also one of the still Time Cop-controlled systems... the ones that didn't go away when Omnus fell. They aren't all like Thanatos. ...That means of course, not as powerful. It's been said there are a few more powerful than him, too, but they don't visit. In fact, Thanatos basically doesn't visit either. They don't like leaving their planet. They say our planet is too cold."
Nonna: *R* "I see. Thank you for bringing this to my attention."
Suitman: *R* "Which means he must be really angry at something, or greedy. Hard to tell. I hesitate to speculate because he loves to find and steal communications about him and kill anyone who portrays him in too negative a light. Very... very attached to his image, you know. That's a thing most people here learned the hard way the last time he visited. Some people mocked him for being a lizard. They proceeded to vanish alongside their families, never to be seen again. The news reported on it... then the people who reported on it also vanished."
Nonna: *Grins* *R* "We'll let you know if anything changes. Otherwise, make sure you've got a good alibi lined up for when you hear of Vetrek's sudden disappearance."
Suitman: *R* "We'll keep in mind. On that note, I'll distribute a memo amongst the others to avoid anything that might offend Thanatos. He is... yeah."
Nonna: *R* "Appreciated. We'll do our best to avoid him if possible. Well, good news and bad news, everyone."
Louisoix: "Bad news first."
Nonna: "The guy is probably as great of a threat if not more than we imagined."
Louisoix: "That's... troubling. And the good news?"
Nonna: "He has a glaring weakness."
Valron: "Go on."
Louisoix: "Oh?"
Nonna: "He's an outsider who forced his way into the politics and rulership of this planet. An outsider from a planet under the Time Cops' control. And he is apparently very very different from his brethren and has some unknown goal, but a very fierce one if he wanted to leave his planet to come here. His weak link is that he's very self-conscious about his image and reputation. Entire families disappear for daring to paint him in an unsavory light."
Louisoix: "So we should perhaps insult him from a place that's inconvenient?"
Nonna: "Even news reporters end up being disappeared."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah... it almost reminds me of Kuja. Except even Kuja wasn't that thorough."
Nonna: "Given his connections, that probably won't work too well. Instead, I was thinking of distracting him momentarily so you guys can capture Vetrek without his being able to interfere. In that sense, the plan won't change."
Valron: "And how will this, in particular, help us? Do you plan on making decoys that'll constantly snark him out?"
Nonna: "One team will go to get Vetrek at the same time as another team is dispatched to keep an eye on 'Thanatos'. Right before Team A makes its move, Team B will cause a scene and insult his ego enough to make him momentarily forget whatever plans he had for Vetrek and us Questers."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'll help with Vetrek. 'specially since he has to do with the Time Cops."
Nonna: "The goal is to get away with Vetrek without giving Thanatos the opportunity to intervene. We aren't going to capture or destroy Thanatos yet unless he's far weaker than he appears to be. I'd recommend we prep several avenues of escape we can use at a moment's notice."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The Wing Fortress can escape through time itself, so that's one avenue. Another one is the X-Zone. It's not one I'd suggest but in a pinch warping to the coordinates X-X-X-X takes you there. Those are the two I know of. Maybe the others know something."
Valron: "Both of those could help, if worse comes to worse, though I'd rather not use the X-Zone, unless things are looking to get especially messy."
Nonna: "So, Xavier will be in Team A."
Metal Man (GM): Yes. Everyone is here. Demon included.
Valron: "Hrm. I think it may be best if I'm also on Team A. It may make Thanatos suspicious if I'm conveniently there to insult him, especially considering I've already gotten in his way once already."
Metal Man (GM): I'll give the recap to Demon in PM.
Nonna: "As a reminder, Team A will be handling the capture of Vetrek, the primary objective. Team B's job will be to cover Team A from interference from Thanatos or even Time Cops. Team B will be the last to leave."
Kumiko: "It sounds like Team B is where I'm best utilized."
Nonna: "I'll be in Team B, myself. How about you, Marley?"
Louisoix: "Hmm... Team A sounds like something I can help with. Might have to hack something or the like."
Marley: "Hmmm... I've been wanting to tick off that dragon this whole time. I can be on Team B."
King Demon: "Thanatos? So... should we find Hulk Hogan or something?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Luckily this isn't the W dimension, the world where a man named Big Show can merge with ladders to defeat all his foes. ...Also no, don't try to escape using the W dimension. I've heard anyone who gets there gets stuck inside an endless void."
King Demon: "I think I missed that trip... sounds like a good thing I did, too."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "There's a lot of dimensions that were ill-formed."
Nonna: "How about you, Demon?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Borne is going to make sure we have the ship ready and the military as well in case we need to get into a firefight. I'm not so certain what Illian has in mind."
King Demon: "Ah, yeah, I'm not good at kidnapping... last time I tried that stunt I think I ended up doing more damage to the target than the enemies persueing us!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, ironically Demon, this is the relative of the person you tried to kidnap right here."
King Demon: "I'm MUCH better at... wait, what?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...No they aren't going to kill you by rocketing through four floors of concrete with a mecha."
King Demon: "Oh, right. That." *Sighs and rubs his head* "Still have a damn concussion from that..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I already checked that before re-hiring you. Anthon's comment was 'My niece would probably kill him before he got close enough to try again so it's not like I care.' But given Anthon is now using his destructive powers against our foes, it's not really a concern anymore."
Nonna: "Aunt Anya was pretty tough."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "All I know is... Ivan has a lot of industrial grade headache relievers. In case you need that. And... so, Team A, or Team B, Demon?"
King Demon: "B, I prefer fighting to sneaking."
Nonna: "But yes, I'm Nonna Tark. Anthon Tark's granddaughter. Glad to have you aboard."
King Demon: "Glad to be aboard... err... again?"
Valron: "Sounds like we've got everyone sorted out, then."
Nonna: "Yeah."
Louisoix: "Seems like it." *Nod.*
Nonna: "The festival is today. We'll need to leave soon."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So, me, Demon, and Valron and Louisoix will go deal with Vetrek. That leaves... Nonna, Kumiko, and Marley dealing with Thanatos. ...Now I have the theme of that wrestler in my head."
Nonna: "Actually, Demon's volunteered to go with Team B."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah, right. Me and Valron and Louisoix it is."
Valron: "He did, yeah. So he'll get to have fun with lobbing insults at a dragon."
Nonna: "Gelato at least will be with you, too. First thing's first, Team B will go out ahead of Team A to report to them where Vetrek can be found and also potential obstacles along the way. We'll try to disable as many things on the way as we can afford. Our objective is to get in between Thanatos and Team A. We can distract him by badmouthing him and spreading badly edited and drawn-on photographs of him. We may have to fight for a bit while Team A does its thing. Given how dangerous Thanatos is, don't hold back."
King Demon: "Oh good, I get to toast a toaster! Baldy edited photographs? Sounds like something I might actually be capable of."
Louisoix: "Well you know what they say: all toasters toast toasters."
Nonna: "Now then, when you're ready to move out, we will."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The power of baldness compels you, Demon."
Marley: "I'll be sure to break a lot of things."
Kumiko: "If we need to fight, I will do whatever I can. Fighting is about the only thing not fuzzy in my head right now..."
Nonna: "Once team A reports its success or failure, we flee. If a designated amount of time goes by with no contact, we will assume failure and flee. Now, let's get to the bottom of this!"
King Demon: "Of course it does, I'll burn the hair off! Sure thing, Nonna!" *Grabs a drink and downs it.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sure, Team B goes off first, so... Nonna, Kumiko, Demon and Marley. We know the meeting is likely to be somewhere down the street, as per the former intel... it's up to you guys to figure out the specifics and deal with Thanatos."
Louisoix: "Alright, in the time you head out, I'll see about finding some documentation on the location Vetrek is. Maps and the like, if possible." *He would turn back to the computer and look a few things up.*
Metal Man (GM): Unfortunately searching for Vetrek is just going to reveal an endless amount of propaganda. His location isn't exactly public information. Floor plans of which?
Nonna: *I'm assuming the festival/Olympics grounds.*
Metal Man (GM): The Olympics grounds, you can see the floor plans of it, but only roughly--generally, what the public would see. Locations of stands, event arenas, stands, etc. Fairly easy to download that into the Smash Dex.
Louisoix: "Good enough, might be able to determine some possible escape routes indirectly."
Nonna: "At the very least, Team B will look around so we'll know where he isn't, and Team A can narrow it down."
Louisoix: "Right. Hopefully these maps aren't too incorrect; can always end up using our intuition."
King Demon: "Hey, Mets, is there any way for the Dexes to create a map based on where we go?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. They are based off of what Samus has, in her visor."
Nonna: "I'm ready to go at any time."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "They actually got their maps of Nintendus that way."
King Demon: "Cool. Then when we see something that's not already downloaded it'll get added to what we have."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "More or less, yes. What they lack in data, they can gain through usage."
Metal Man (GM): Team B can now leave and begin their search, when they're ready.
Nonna heads out, dressed as a tourist.
Metal Man (GM): Marley walks out, dressed as... himself. He's cleaned up his uniform using his spells, though. And... he disguised his face. So as far as anyone can tell, he's... an entirely other GUN person who isn't a deranged bum and isn't wanted dead by Thanatos.
Marley: "I feel like that time I faked my death to avoid being hunted by Borne. When you call me things... call me... Marius."
King Demon heads out dressed as... well, as much as a tourist as he can be...
Marley: "...I have thirty plus names in case you're wondering. Still can't use my real name... too many people want that one dead."
Metal Man (GM): His badge says 'Marius' and he also looks about 20 years younger.
Marley: "Also yes, I told David Hale. If anyone asks, I'm an above average new recruit they sent out after 'Marley' was recalled for his antics. It's also why I'm not talkin' to yeh like I normally do, eh?" *Winks.*
Nonna: "Sounds good to me."
Kumiko tries to pull off the tourist look herself.
King Demon: *M* "I'm gonna forget that shit before this is over..."
Marley: "David Hale told me I should make certain this Thanatos character has no interest in Alsa. Well Demon. I'll just good naturedly go 'What, me, Marley? You have to be crazy to think that!' and then poke ya in the ribs. Don't worry. Jack kept refusing to go along with my charade. I gave him several bruises until he did."
King Demon: "Well, I AM crazy, but still."
Marley: "His alter ego later ruined my ruse. We had to kill that guy. He sucked."
King Demon: "I mean, after all, I'm helping Metal again...."
Marley: "See? You even call Xavier by a wacky alternate name. It should be easy to call me Marius."
Metal Man (GM): You walk out of a more safe area and are now in the street. Presumably, you're headed back to the olympic grounds, around where Louisoix was previously. It is very different, that's for certain. There's... a sort of air of tension, the streets have become a bit more quiet.
King Demon: "So... are we supposed to start the trouble before or after the others get to Vertek?"
Marley: "Ix-nay on the ouble-tray... also, not precisely."
King Demon: "Oh... ok." *Shrugs and looks around.*
Marley: "We have a specific target in mind. He looks like this." *hands you a picture of the dragon, Thanatos, only he has a crudely drawn mustache on his face.*
Kumiko: "...what an odd lookin' mug..."
Marley: "Why yes indeed. The mustache is my addition, but we need to show him it."
King Demon: *Tries not to laugh at the picture* "Looks like Shenlong, but red."
Marley: "As my friend here noted, that makes him pretty mad."
Nonna: *Keeps an eye out for Vetrek too, along the way.*
King Demon: "Makes me wanna go find him and ask him to grant me a wish."
Marley: "Of course, we have to first make sure we have a good place for our other friends to visit first. We don't want them to walk into a bad place, you know."
Metal Man (GM): So far, no Vetrek. You start getting more signs of him up ahead though. So then, you see the olympics area. The first thing is, you have to pay some money to get in. It's not a 'free' area, per se. There's a ticket booth up front.
King Demon: "..." *Approaches the ticket booth, looking for prices.*
Nonna hands some money over nonchalantly.
Metal Man (GM): The ticket is paid for and everyone gets tickets. (The money is covered for based upon current money / things in the background so don't worry about it, heh.) The way in is open. Today, the stands are mostly empty. Big billboards explain that Vetrek's meeting is soon. There are some new people you haven't seen before. THESE people actually seem to be something Time Cop-ish. They wear the blue robes, but futuristic to fit in with this planet. They have Vetrek's insignia on their chests, but they also have wristbands on their left wrists. They look at you nonchalantly, though. They don't have any special interest--they seem rather bored.
King Demon glances at them as he walks by.
Metal Man (GM): They share the spots alongside the more traditional Zinyo guards as well as some other dudes in suits with sunglasses. It seems to be a rather crowded setup, with all these different guards milling around. They actually are spending more time watching eachother than you. Some of them are currently looking very closely at the stands with some sort of scanning device. There's some track and field events down the way from here.
King Demon: *W to the others* "Think they have enough security? Though, it appears they may not like each other too much; maybe we can use that to our advantage?"
Metal Man (GM): The signposts meant for the actual guests here suggest you walk there. Noting that the swimming pool area is 'down for maintenance'
Nonna: *W* "Yeah. They aren't expecting an attack today."
Metal Man (GM): Maintenance that apparently involves these hordes of guards hanging out.
King Demon: *Sees the guards in the pool* "Ok, I need THAT job."
Nonna: "They're gonna miss out. I should see if they're still coming..." *Nonchalantly sends Vetrek's location and number of guards around him to Team A.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Silently notes that he received it through text.*
Metal Man (GM): Unless your plan is to rile up the guards, the only way forward is down a path that leads to the 'track and field' events, where you can hear some loud cheering.
Nonna keeps going, looking around for signs of Thanatos.
King Demon watches for a second from the area.
Metal Man (GM): The signs get more obvious as you get closer. For one, you see a rather large footprint in one of the areas with some mud in it. Then you can eventually see him watching the track and field from the stands. He's sitting in a section cleared out so only he is there. There's even tape around the section he's in that says "PRIVATE PARTY, DO NOT DISTURB"
King Demon: "Awww, he doesn't look like the Thanatos I remember..."
Metal Man (GM): The black dragon-humanoid sits there, watching the crowded field of runners currently competing in a marathon of all things, running around a circle continuously. There's plenty of other people in the stands as well--he just has the top half of one of them to himself.
King Demon: "Which one's Dale Jr.?"
Nonna: *W* "We have our man. Let's wander a bit to see if he doesn't have any spies or guards around the area, then send the signal to Team A to get started."
Marley: "I'll take the right stands."
King Demon: "Yeah, sure..." *Makes like a tourist taking pictures with the Dex, if the Smash Dex can take pictures anyways.*
Metal Man (GM): There's the left, right, back, and front stands, all surrounding the rather large course itself. It does, yes. It's like the Game Boy Camera!
King Demon tries as best he can to get a picture of Thanatos while he's at it.
Metal Man (GM): Marley walks off to the right stands.
Nonna checks places out, too, pretending to be looking for a place to sit.
Metal Man (GM): Demon walks closer to where Thanatos is and aims the camera at him. He doesn't appear to have any guards, and so Demon can just take a picture of him. There's plenty--in all three stands except teh left stands, where Thanatos has taken the top half and thus the stands below him are full.
King Demon does so, shrugging then going back to snapping pictures of the crowd and the runners.
Metal Man (GM): Demon is at the left ones, while Marley can be seen casually wandering through the Right stands, staring at things. In the background you hear the announcers droning on about the status of the marathon and how they have '25 laps remaining'--what a weird marathon.
King Demon: *M* "Wonder if anyone knows anyone here..."
Metal Man (GM): Demon would see a bunch of different tourists here, as well as some natives. The natives to this planet are busy using their omni-terminals (TM) to record every second of everything going on. Nonna, meanwhile, would notice there are more guards here, most of them in suits and with 'Olympic Commission' logos on their chests. Their weapons are not immediately visible.
Nonna notes their positions and looks around one last time to get a good idea of the terrain in case a fight broke out and/or they needed to flee on foot rather quickly.
King Demon: *Also looks around the area to see if there's anything that can be used to their advantage once things do get put into motion.*
Metal Man (GM): It's an overcast day and there's some lights going on here that keep it lit up. There's some obvious electrical boxes at the bottom of each. There's also the loudspeakers, which are busy projecting the voice of the announcers, which seem to be connected to different boxes next to the announcer's box, which is up on a tower... elevator seems locked for that one, though.
King Demon: "Hmmm..." *He briefly wonders if they can be used as a distraction or a barrier if they get damaged.*
Metal Man (GM): It at least looks possible, if you spent some time fiddling with them. The terrain here is... atop that giant tower, as all the Olympics have been. It's high up in the sky, making it easier for ships to reach here
King Demon looks around to make sure nobody's paying much attention... wait, aren't they supposed to be doing security work of their own or something?
Metal Man (GM): There's some doors that lead further down into the 'tower' this stands atop of but those are locked
Nonna sends Xavier confirmation that they're about ready.
Xavier Ridgecrest sends another message noting he received it.
Metal Man (GM): Demon seems to be noticing there's few people paying attention to the lights, at least currently.
King Demon: *At least he opens it up to see what it'd take to sabotage one.*
Metal Man (GM): Well you can tell why they aren't guarding it too hard. There's a sign that warns it's INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, and there's giant glowing magic wires inside. That are coated in high wattage electricity.
King Demon: "... Well, that could be interesting if it were to get fired up..."
Nonna glances at Thanatos.
King Demon: *Suddenly sorta wishes he had a remote bomb or grenade, but whatever; he closes the panel for now.*
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos is watching the runners. He seems to be rather absorbed in it. Sometimes, he takes out a glowing tablet and scratches something into it.
King Demon looks around to see how hard it'd be to get into a position to see what he's scribbling.
Metal Man (GM): Well, if you can climb, you can climb up the back of the stands and peek from behind. Otherwise it'd be hard to see.
King Demon looks to see how hard it'd be to do so.
Metal Man (GM): Hmmm. Not very. There's fairly regular slats on the back for you to climb up. Security is lax here due to all the security in the previous area. Let's see...
King Demon smirks and gets to climbing.
Metal Man (GM): You have Agility: 4, so let's see... You go to climb, but you're rather clunky. Since it's a fairly easy climb for people who can climb, it's not fatal, but you kinda grab on and slip off.
King Demon: *Mutters a few curses* "Suddenly I wish I could just FLY up there, but that'd be rather obvious."
Metal Man (GM): You could however put away your weapon and gain a circumstantial +10 to your climb, since you then can use both hands.
King Demon: *Yeah, he'll do that then, attaching it to his belt.*
Nonna: *Carefully watches Demon so she can provide a distraction for Thanatos if anything went awry.*
Metal Man (GM): This time you try, you get a bit higher up, and then you proceed to fall on your back some. Thanatos glances around, wondering what that was, then continues observing the marathon.
King Demon: *M* "Dammit, I'm out of shape apparently..."
Nonna: *Winces.*
Metal Man (GM): Of course, you can always try another way. There is a security camera system watching the area behind him. You seem to have become better with computers in your time away from the front, and you have your Smash Dex.
King Demon: "Ugh..." *He'd head over to the camera system and try to use it instead then.*
Metal Man (GM): The camera system is a bit more secured than the back of the stands. Of course, you have Nanite Metal Sonic's hand. If you're willing to risk that. Or try to hack in once again. It's rather sedate around here, and nobody seems to really notice... Due to how overcast and dreary it is today.
King Demon: *Yeah, he'll try it again, he's gotta get it SOMETIME, doesn't he?*
Metal Man (GM): You get a grainy feed of the tablet. You see, ironically, the tablet that the dragon is interacting with is itself views of security cameras. Occasionally he's also scratching things into it.
King Demon tries to see what he's scratching into the feeds.
Metal Man (GM): Some sort of strange language you can't exactly understand, he's using one claw like a sort of pen to write runes into it.
King Demon tries to record the feed onto the Dex; he'll have to try to translate that stuff later, or find someone who can.
Metal Man (GM): The dex has no problem recording it. An interesting thing you notice is that he accessed the same camera you did just before you did; that must have been the initial reason you couldn't have accessed it.
King Demon: "... Seriously?" *Sighs and tries to see what he's watching now; after all, he's probably doing it for a reason...*
Metal Man (GM): What he's watching now is... actually somewhat amusingly benign. He's watching the race with the security cameras. Zooming in on them using the security cameras from the stands, to get his own personal high-definition view...
King Demon: "Ok, this guy's a bit odd... or he's a frickin genius, not sure which." *Suddenly wonders if he can mess up Thanatos feed.*
Metal Man (GM): Oh, you definitely can. You already know that just simply controlling a camera blocks it from being used by anyone else. And most of the camera views he's using right now seem to be out there in the background, the left stand and the front stands mostly since the racers are closest to those cameras. Yes, you could probably reason that he'll notice something funny is going on. On that note, you'd better log out of this camera if you don't want him to try to use it and go "Huh?", since the Left stand was what he was just using and as the people go around the circle he's moving back to it slowly.
King Demon sighs and logs out so he doesn't get caught.
Metal Man (GM): Correct. Depends on whether you want to start the confrontation yet. Marley radios to both of you.
Marley: *R* "I see a bunch of guards in the right stands."
Nonna: *R* "What kind?"
King Demon: *R* "Loyal to who?"
Marley: *R* "Like, so many I could probably break the stands and cause them all to fall over. Uh... Olympics guards... and some more of those Vetrek ones... they're all watching Thanatos. There's also a weird case. I think I see a Sloan loyalist in here too. He is... well he looks like he's been living off of instant ramen. His clothes are worn out, and his gun is falling apart. I don't think he's that much of a threat but it's sort of amusing."
Nonna: *R* "...We can use this. Vetrek's busy watching Thanatos. Won't be expecting us to move on both him and Thanatos at the same time."
King Demon: *R* "And I may have found a way to get Thanatos' attention."
Nonna: *R* "Excellent. Not many guards here either, so I'll be the one to bear the full brunt of his attack, should he resort to it. Marius, you make sure those guards don't try to interfere, and then join back up with us when you get the chance." *To Team A* "About to commence operation. Your window to nab the objective will be small, but effective."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "We'll move into position then. Don't want to be too far away from our target... your information has been pretty handy so far, we can just avoid anyone who'd get in our way."
Nonna: *R* "Make your move the instant secondary target is thrown off. Illian, Borne: Make sure you've got the right kind of anti-tracking measures in place to contain the objective in. Are we all ready?"
King Demon: *R* "Let me know when to distract Dragonbreath."
Illian MacGregor: *R* "Anti-tracking? Heh heh heh heh heh..."
Metal Man (GM): You hear some weird magic noises on Illian's side.
Nonna: *R* "I'll pretend to be the one responsible for your distraction. He'll come at me, and you're free to attack from behind if he gets aggressive."
Commander Borne: *R* "Everything is ready here."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "I'm moving our side into position to interact with the target of our group."
Nonna makes sure she's standing in direct sight of Thanatos.
King Demon: *R* "Ok then." *He'd jack back into the camera.*
Nonna waits for any kind of reaction.
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos glances to look at Nonna, seeming a bit piqued by her presence. He goes to check the camera, then notices it's blocked. He looks at his tablet and gets a bit confused.
Nonna makes sure Thanatos can see her smirk at him.
King Demon: *He'd slip away, hopefully somewhere where Thanatos can't see him.*
Metal Man (GM): He looks at Nonna again, and starts to look angry. He speaks with a rather loud voice, since of course he can.
Nonna: "Who let that awful looking abomination in here?"
Thanatos: "WHAT do you think you're doing, little girl? And who is messing with the cameras? I demand an answer!"
Metal Man (GM): The guards on the other side stare at Thanatos, some reaching for their guns. Others run away in terror. The Sloan man pathetically takes out his rifle, then realizes he doesn't even have ammunition. Yes. They're in the stands opposite of Thanatos.
King Demon: "Oh boy... I think we may have just stirred up a hornet's nest."
Metal Man (GM): The people in the stands beneath Thanatos start quietly walking away, others run away. They know he's bad news.
Nonna: "And what are YOU doing here? I thought this planet was supposed to be classy."
Thanatos: "Well if you must ask, I'm watching this game. But you clearly don't like that. So how about I send you to the unseen country, hmmmm? That'll teach you to insult me with your snide remarks."
Metal Man (GM): He holds out a hand and charges some weird singularity in his hand. The lights around him start malfunctioning and it's like he's created a miniature EMP field that's sucking in parts of all the things around him with gravity. The announcers can be heard dimly in the background.
Nonna: "Last time I saw you, weren't you licking Sloan's boots?"
King Demon: *Looks up* "Oh... great..."
Announcer: "Oh no, Jimmy Bob! It looks like Thanatos has gotten mad. Please evacuate the area until he's brutally murdered that suicidal girl who made him maaaaaad!"
Nonna: *She covertly casts Ward on herself.*
Metal Man (GM): Kumiko is by the 'front' stands; Nonna is over by the Left Stands. She would have a front seat to the weird chaos going on. One of the guards takes out a megaphone. It's one of the Time Cop guards.
Kumiko: *The only thing she can really process is WTF is going on. She takes a more defensive stance...*
TC Guard: "ATTENTION THANATOS. WE HAVE OUR GUNS POINTED AT YOU. LET US KILL THE GIRL INSTEAD. IT WILL BE MUCH CHEAPER THAT WAY."
Thanatos: "What? You dare think I cannot kill someone without destroying everything?"
Metal Man (GM): As he says that, the light pole behind him is broken in two by his singularity.
TC Guard: "LOOK, WE KNOW YOU ARE ANGRY BUT THESE GAMES ARE MUCH BETTER UN-EXPLODED."
Nonna: "Need to rely on your underlings to win an argument, huh? Sounds like par for the course."
Thanatos: "I will not let these strange people I don't even know do my work for me. Stand down, strange idiots in blue costumes, before I eat your corpses!"
TC Guard: "...LOOK, DON'T SAY WE DIDN'T WARN YOU."
Thanatos: "You think I do not know what you are up to, idiot-manchildren in blue cloaks! Let me kill this girl and then I'll show you!"
King Demon: *M* "I think we found a Dragon version of Metal..."
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos decides to throw the singularity at Nonna. Nonna: Oh my god that thing is huge and probably lethal. You might not be able to dodge it if you try to just normally dodge. What do you do?
Nonna: "Oooh, big scary drunk is going to kill me. I didn't realize they admitted murderhobos into the VIP section these days."
Thanatos: "I'll murder anyone who dares to call me a murderer. That way no one will dare to say it!"
Announcer: "We have noted the positions of the runners and moved them to safe positions. Please go to your anti-disaster bunkers until Thanatos has stopped reaping his foes."
Nonna tries to blast it away via a counter.
King Demon: "They have anti-disaster bunkers here?"
Kumiko: "...and just what will those solve...?"
Metal Man (GM): Counter, hmmm... using a Parry I guess?
Violet: *Has 40 Parry.*
Metal Man (GM): Let me think... hmmmm.... Well, this enemy does have the chance to utterly destroy you, BUT he doesn't know who you are, and he kinda lobbed it at you like he didn't even think you could fight.
Nonna blows it away.
Metal Man (GM): Granted, you cannot actually control what happens to it, so... it flies into the stands. Creating a gigantic explosion that hits some fleeing people. The people it does hit seem to be... obliterated.
Thanatos: "WHAT?"
Nonna: "..."
Thanatos: "Who are you that hides amongst normal people like that?"
Nonna: *Waiting for Team A to say anything.*
King Demon: *He'd try sneaking from his position to get behind Thanatos.*
Thanatos: "...There is clearly something completely off about this... but I don't care. No one can get in my way!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "We've entered the area over to the side... Vetrek seems to be completely distracted. We're going in. We'll keep you upda--"
Metal Man (GM): The radio is suddenly jammed by whatever the heck Illian just released. You see a weird sun literally explode in the sky. And hear some insane cackling.
Nonna: "You're not going to get away with that, Thanatos."
Metal Man (GM): The radio and the cameras go out, meaning nobody is gonna talk to anybody. The Time Cop guards see the sun and are horrified.
TC Guard: "What the hell? There's a rogue Solarian in here?"
TC Guard 2: "Pay attention! That woman deflected a black hole into some bystanders! She's probably trying to do something!"
Thanatos: "I agree, I won't let the record be that you used my attack to kill innocent civilians."
Metal Man (GM): He casually climbs down, impaling another innocent person with his claws.
Thanatos: "That's what I do! I will not be beaten at my own game!"
Kumiko switches to an offensive stance even if she really doesn't know what to do here.
Nonna: *Conjures a cyclone of water underneath Thanatos in an attempt to envelop him, or propel him upward like a geyser* (Water Ele)
Thanatos: "Fight me, suicidal maniac girl!"
Metal Man (GM): Demon is able to sneak behind Thanatos because as I, the GM was playing him, he certainly was NOT paying attention. However, for humor purposes, I will roll Demon's sneak to see what he does to sneak. Demon sneaks behind and would have been noticed, but, the whole exploding sun thing happened. So Thanatos is clueless as Demon trips and gets up, knocks over a random person and breaks a random cup full of beer. After all, all of that was still quieter than an exploding miniature sun. Plus he was yelling at Nonna. Well, you manage to get behind Thanatos either way, so that you can flank him.
King Demon draws his weapon once more, waiting for a prime opportunity to strike while Thanatos is distracted.
Metal Man (GM): The guards have been paralyzed for a while, but they decide finally it's time to rush in and break this up. Except Marley punches the stands they're on. You hear a loud crash and the guards are now in a giant pile in the ruins of the stands they were running down.
Kumiko: *finally has the nerve to draw her weapon, trying to figure out what the best course of action is.*
Nonna: *Waiting to see the results of her attack.*
Metal Man (GM): Given that everything other than Thanatos has been destroyed or knocked away, fighting Thanatos seems to be the main thing. Now for Nonna's attack. Thanatos is hit by it, but for some reason he's too heavy, so he just takes the damage of the attack. Also this:
Thanatos: "I will bpbpbpphpbblugh gah!" *Is interrupted mid speech humorously by the water jet.*
Metal Man (GM): We thus go to a full on battle rather than just random actions.
Nonna: "You're quite the psycho, throwing stuff like that around." *Ward on Self, followed by a spear of ice (Ice ele)*
Metal Man (GM): He smirks and goes to try and block it. You hit him through the block, so full damage. He cringes, not liking that one bit.
Nonna: *Ens turn for now.*
Thanatos: "You're one to speak! You sneak up on me trying to assassinate me like a common blackguard! You... are really wasting your time here. Why don't you join me, instead? You've already passed the first test if you wanted to apply!"
Nonna: "All I did was call you names. Then you threw a black hole!"
Thanatos: "Wouldn't you do the same if you could?"
Kumiko: "Kill, kill, and kill... unfortunately, it seems we have different ways of doing such things. Flame Arrow, select..."
Nonna: "No."
Kumiko: "...Go!"
Thanatos: "Hmh. So who do you serve? A prestigious academy of heroes?"
Metal Man (GM): Flame Arrow. Hmmm... *looks at sheet* Flare Arrow. 50/50, magic...
Nonna: "Perhaps you'll find out, if you win."
Thanatos: "Very well. Your insults make me so mad, but I cannot turn down a battle!"
Metal Man (GM): He goes to block the Flare Arrow. You get through his block, full damage. 22 damage. He picks the flame from the flare arrow out of his nose and coughs.
Thanatos: "More assassins? Hmph!"
Kumiko: "You're mistaken. I'm nobody particularly important."
Thanatos: "Yes. All dead people end up that way."
Metal Man (GM): Anything else, Kumiko?
Nonna: "You won't be killing anyone else right now."
Kumiko: "Good to know you're misreading me already..." *Turn End.*
Metal Man (GM): Marley takes off his disguise.
Thanatos: "What... it's you! You were behind this the whole time! I knew you were no good!"
Marley: "That's right, it was me, Mar--" *Falls on his face* "...ley."
Thanatos: "Hahahaha... if you say so, bum!"
Marley: "Eh, whatever."
Metal Man (GM): Marley takes a bottle of Admin Booze with a fuse in it and hurls it. Boy can he throw, because he throws it all the way across the field long range at Thanatos.
Announcer: "And the bum makes a potentially Olympics-qualifying toss of an improvised bomb!"
Metal Man (GM): But will it hit? *Spends a sec calculating* This time the block occurs. Only 10 damage. However, Thanatos is still angered by the fact he's covered in booze.
Thanatos: "How dare you coat me in your... disgusting low price alcohol! If you're going to kill me, at least buy a better drink to throw at me!"
Marley: "I already drank everything that was good!"
Metal Man (GM): Marley then chuckles and throws another one. Same effect, more nuisance.
Nonna: "Your beef is with me. Come, and strike me down if you're so mighty!"
Thanatos: "Of course I will!"
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos jumps down and tries to literally bite Nonna's face off because, well, dragon. How do you respond?
Nonna attempts to parry with point-blank Starlight Breaker.
Metal Man (GM): You manage to parry him (since he was attacking this time) He takes 100 damage and roars angrily.
Thanatos: "Try as you might, I am no idiot who ignores their own condition! CURAGA!"
Metal Man (GM): He regains 160 HP. Then he goes to bite Nonna again. Your response, Nonna?
Nonna tries to block, knowing it probably won't work. Ward absorbs the damage, presumably.
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos already wasted his energy blocking several molotov cocktails so he has to back off, breathing heavily. Yup. Although, having realized if it stays up indefinitely it could be a bit cheap, I'll say it vanishes after it's hit. That said, it protects you in this case, since its max is way out there so nothing overflows it.
King Demon: *And he decides its time to announce his presence to the dragon, by trying to turn him into a shishkabob with his beam sword; aiming for something somewhat vital with his attack from behind.*
Metal Man (GM): Hum. You don't have that on your sheet. But you have spare Versatility so... *Engineers it into existence* Would you rather it be a Type A or Type B attack? That is, is this a heavier attack or a weaker one? True, so this will replace your punch... which makes sense, given the choice you'd rather stab than punch. :V He tries to dodge but fails. You stab him in the giblets for 14 damage.
3 more agility remains. You could go for another stab, or a type B attack. Keeping in mind it's generally good to have at least two AGI left to dodge or block or stuff. And despite his best efforts he's covered in it.
Had that stab hit better it would have also inflicted corrosion, but he kinda moved far enough that you only cut him with that first stab.
King Demon uses a simple fireball on Thanatos, hoping to ignite the booze he's covered in.
Metal Man (GM): He tries to dodge that one too. He jumps aside as it lights the space he was standing in on fire.
King Demon: "Ah... close."
Thanatos: "Fie, sneaking up on me... you really should join me, you know! Infernals are welcome in my company!"
Metal Man (GM): With only 1 AGI left, I'd suggest you end your turn here, heh. Otherwise you'll only be able to dodge. Otherwise you could go for one more Type A Stab attack. Up to you. You ARE on a rather dodge-centric build so having remaining AGI may not matter to you...
King Demon: "Heh. I would, but I'm not the type of person to get myself tied down to one purpose for too long." *Yeah, he'll stop for now, getting in a defensive position* "And I doubt you have a very good severance package."
Thanatos: "Well... maybe you'll change your mind later. I'll probably have a chance to recruit you after I kill these obviously unfitting allies of yours. ...You got me there."
Nonna glares at him.
Thanatos: "What's the matter. Is it your turn to be angry?"
Marley: "It's like a scaly, snootier version of Jack... I need to get over there and strangle him to death, I'll not get a chance to kill a Jack-alike in a while!"
Nonna: "Calls down a bunch of lightning on the wet Thanatos after applying Inguz to it" *(Inguz and Lightning Ele)*
King Demon: "Then get over here and do it!"
Thanatos: "Silence, hobo! Your stupid alcohol has yet to do any real damage to me!"
Kumiko: "In the end, no name... I may look like your stereotypical magical girl who shunned pastels for gothic attire. But be warned... I crave something. And it appears we'll get that one way or another."
Metal Man (GM): You apply Inguz; he attempts to cast a spell on you when you do that. I'm being a little creative here, so, you can either opt to try to get in a direct magic vs. magic contest (no AGI usage), or use some AGI to try and dodge, block, or even more AGI + a parry roll to try to parry by completing your action with the Ele. He manages to dispel your Inguz with his Disjunction spell. Your Ele can still be used at him, though; do you go through with it? Though he might keep trying to jam you. The effect as seen by others: Nonna goes to cast Inguz, then Thanatos yells...
Thanatos: "DISJUNCTION!"
Nonna goes ahead.
Metal Man (GM): Aaand he would disrupt that one except Disjunction doesn't let him. Oops! Instead he goes to try and dodge it, semi-futilely. Hit! 120 electric damage plus the fact he's wet so it's still 1.5x, making it 180. Anything else?
Kumiko: *Sighs, finally engages Blodsabel in her left hand as a short 5 music note tune can be heard* "I crave blood. That's what Blodsabel and I crave! Harmonia..." *She goes in with a Harmonia Strike, the Blodsabel glowing a bright pink as she engages the attack.*
Thanatos: "Interesting. I also crave blood, but it happens to be the blood of all who oppose me."
Metal Man (GM): You hit him, and deal 44 damage, and recover 22 HP (though right now you have no damage so no special effect other than, that's how much you would heal otherwise)
Kumiko: "Seems you aren't as sharp as you act..."
Thanatos: "Plenty sharp. The question is how long you can last, impudent fool!"
Metal Man (GM): Anything else this turn?
Kumiko: *She follows up the one Harmonia Strike with another Harmonia Strike, this time the tune doesn't follow the attack as Blodsabel's already engaged.*
Metal Man (GM): This time he manages to dodge it. Aaaand I need to pause us after this, because on that note, what happens next depends on the other Team!
Kumiko: "...took you that long to wake up. How amusing."
Thanatos: "You shall see what I am capable of. I have merely been testing you, before I drive you into the unseen kingdom! There, you will discover what true death is, and--"
Marley hurls another bottle of booze at Thanatos.
Thanatos: "OH WILL YOU JUST STOP THAT!"
Metal Man (GM): Thanatos is hit in the face with the molotov cocktail, interrupting his monologue. We pause at this moment, waiting to continue after the other team does its go at Vetrek. Since at this point, the radio starts to clear up from that EMP, allowing for the status report from Team A... ...but also, should they take too long, potentially other sides to begin flinging people into the fray. EL PAUSEO!
