Metal Man (GM): Recap: We continue with Team B, as they were jumping off the side and landed upon the Wool from the Wool Dimension. They were fleeing from Thanatos, and successfully fell a large ways down.
Nonna, Kumiko, Demon, and Marley are now down there, a good ways away from Thanatos... leaving it up to them as to how to proceed for leaving the planet.
There's no easy warp point out here, but presumably there was more in mind from Nonna when she jumped off (or ideas, anyway).
I'll recap the other sides as necessary, but rather than get bogged down with that, we'll start here. Continuation.
Nonna: "Everyone okay?"
Marley: "Besides being really itchy, yes."
Metal Man (GM): Distant explosions can be heard, as well as alarms. But down here it's rather distant, indeed.
King Demon: "Ugh, where the sheep did you send us?!?"
Kumiko: "...my head hurts."
Metal Man (GM): You're about half-way down the side of the tower, and they don't generally have windows so you're basically all alone here, up in the air, the portal holding you where you are for now.
Nonna: "We're not quite out of the woods yet. Still need to find a way out off the planet."
King Demon: "Well, we could kinda use a pickup. Think Mets and the others are back yet?"
Kumiko: "...and how shall we do that?"
King Demon: *Gets on the radio* "Hello? Anyone home?"
Metal Man (GM): With Kinesis or another spell that can generate movement, you could. The radio crackles a bit.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Having trouble... reading your location... where are you guys? Can't... easily find your location... incoming enemy fleet..."
King Demon: "Yeah... we kinda took a leap of faith off the stadium, we're... on top of a patch of wool that Nonna summoned. We could kinda use a lift, I think, since the only place we can go from here is down, and I'm not sure what the hell is below us."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Can't easily... send a ship... get to the ground... find a warp out."
Nonna: *R* "We're floating partway down the tower on a patch of wool."
Metal Man (GM): The radios here are rather interesting--unlike analog radios, they merely take a while to send the words rather than losing the data entirely.
Nonna: "Hm. Anyone have kinesis?"
Metal Man (GM): So what you get is that effect where Xavier's words get somewhat stretched out and delayed in between words, with occasional crackling.
Kumiko: "I have no idea what that is..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Bottom area... look at the map... warp out points are there... need to hurry... enemy fleet."
King Demon: "Nope, sorry. I can TRY to fly, but... uh... Hey, Mets, how far away from the tower is the Wing Fortress?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Outer space... cannot be reached easily... unless you have a rocket or space ship."
Nonna: "Then I may have to improvise a bit."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "I mean it is... close to the atmosphere..."
King Demon: *R* "Yeah, I don't think I can get that far, since a space suit would prevent me from, ya know, USING MY WINGS!"
Nonna: "Wool is water-resistant."
Kumiko: "...what I do know is, none of my magic would help." .oO(And this is not helping my ongoing thirst for blood...)
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Unless it's a space force field... ...anyway... need to avoid calling attention to you... shouldn't talk too much, the high signal... being sent to you from here... marks your place..."
Nonna: "So I may be able to..."
Metal Man (GM): You can wield other things such as water that can push against the portal. As a Plane to a Pure Dimension of ___________, destroying it isn't a concern.
Nonna contemplates using a heavily charged Laguz to take them away, carrying them on the wool like a raft.
King Demon: *To the others* "Well, we're stuck here, apparently, unless someone else knows a way down... actually... Don't suppose there's a transport nearby that I could hijack, is there?"
Metal Man (GM): You hear a distant roar.
King Demon: "Ah fuck..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "You're in the middle of nowhere... there aren't transports in this level... You need to get to the ground..."
Nonna: "I may be able to get us down. Hope you guys know how to swim if this wool doesn't budge."
King Demon: "Swim?" *He tests out his wings, trying his best to not hit anyone in the process.*
Nonna applies an Inguz to a Laguz and uses it!
Kumiko: "Guess I'm about to find out if I remember how to."
Metal Man (GM): You summon a waterfall. It pushes the wool down like some sort of elevator out of that one Sm64 level, Rainbow Ride. Just in time, too. You see Thanatos flying above, with... wings he didn't have before, made out of some sort of magic. He's too far away though. He gets a glimpse of what you're doing, only for you to disappear onto the ground. You arrive on the ground... where, like the other ground areas, it's dirty and run down. You can see the ruins of the original city that once was down here.
King Demon: "..." *Steps off the wool once it's safe.*
Metal Man (GM): However, what you can also see... are a whole lot of guards looking for you with flashlights.
Nonna scans the area immediately for those warps.
Metal Man (GM): And... it appears they make Colaxus branded TANKS as those are wandering around here too. You see an interesting dilemma. There are two nearby warps. One is on the other side of that huge wall of Thanatos' goons (the Colaxus tanks and the people around them) The other one appears to be disused and in an area labeled 'Dangerous'... interestingly, inside the base of the tower.
Kumiko steps off... uneasy.
Metal Man (GM): Of course, to help force your decision to be faster, the Colaxus goons in the distance notice your outlines and start shooting wildly for a moment. Some bullets bounce off the building behind you. The brief info that scrolls by indicates 'This area was abandoned due to some sort of calamity long ago' Whereas the warp with all the Colaxus tanks is in an area they repaired, the area behind you with the abandoned portal looks to be sealed off by a bunch of DANGER! signs. You hear one of the Colaxus employees in the distance yelling through a megaphone.
Nonna sees if she can cast Panel on one of the tanks. If nothing else, they could use it as cover to make a mad dash to the warp...
Metal Man (GM): The tanks are too far away, unless you want to start moving towards them. Granted, that would place you at risk of being spotted 100% and shot at.
King Demon checks the area behind them.
Metal Man (GM): The area behind you is boarded up with decaying plastic barriers and signs. Behind it is a sliding glass door full of cracks and bullet holes.
Nonna: *Whispering* "What do you think?" *W* "The enemy we know, or the unknown?"
Metal Man (GM): Glimpses through the holes show some sort of machinery inside the base floor that looks rusted, but also strangely recent.
Kumiko: "Fear of the unknown is overrated."
King Demon: "I think those tanks would cut us down before we even got CLOSE to the portal." *He heads into the unknown, 'cuz why the hell not.*
Metal Man (GM): There are three tanks, and you see a fourth one drive through the portal. Granted, they are trying to head towards your location rather than guarding the portal. Heading into the unknown is a two part process. The first one is easy; Pull off all the boards. Do you pull them off, though?
Nonna: "Very well. Get it open, and I'll try and prevent them from getting at you."
Metal Man (GM): It's fairly easy for them to presume that you're here, as the sheer number of guards have covered the other areas. They are now slowly and cautiously headed towards where you are. One of them takes out a megaphone.
Kumiko: *She'll start attempting to get the boards off, unsure on how heavy any of them are.*
Colaxus Guard: "If you think about going in there, just keep in mind. Even the Time Cops wouldn't go in there! But it wouldn't stop Thanatos!"
King Demon gets to pulling, hey, he's not lighting them on fire... yet.
Colaxus Guard: "Surely Zinyo ransoming you off of us would be better than certain death? ...No? Whatever you want then!"
Nonna stays behind and gets in between the guards and the Questers.
Metal Man (GM): Nonna would see three guards incoming. They have flashlight-helmets and their guns.
Nonna: *Hopefully using ruins and rubble as cover, using sneak to try and get a surprise attack on them.*
Metal Man (GM): Demon finds there to be a bunch of signs. Ah, sneak time. You sneak past all three of them. Despite two of them nearly seeing you. The door is 50% clear, as they're close enough to notice Demon trying to peel open the door and being 50% through with it.
King Demon gets the signs out of the way, trying to build a bit of a wall between the soldiers and tanks and themselves.
Colaxus Guard: "I'm warning you! There's some very bad things in there!"
Nonna gets behind them to try and knock them out.
Colaxus Guard: "But I guess if you insist..." *They lock n' load, and go to aim at Demon, not knowing Nonna is there.*
King Demon: "For us or for you?"
Colaxus Guard: "All of us. The enemies in there know no side."
Kumiko: "Yeah well, we didn't start the fire."
Colaxus Guard: "We're just doing our jobs."
King Demon: *Looks to Kumiko* "Hey, actually, you're right, for once, we didn't!"
Nonna goes with Three Earth Eles to create rocks to KO them.
King Demon continues working, seeming to mostly ignore the guards, though he does keep a piece nearby.
Metal Man (GM): One is KO'd. The other two... well it's kinda interesting. You don't KO them but they block it, see. So they're distracted by the 50% damage they take. The missing ele smashes through the door, opening the way inside. The others can jump inside the building and to 'safety', or decide to engage these 3 soldiers out here.
King Demon pauses, waiting to see what Nonna's up to.
Nonna tries to use Freezing Fetters on one of the other guards.
Metal Man (GM): He's hit for 50% damage. No freeze.
Colaxus Guard 2: "Defensor Class Armaments online. Destroy the enemy!"
Metal Man (GM): Guard 2 returns fire with his assault rifle at Nonna. You can only dodge, due to being out of AGI... One hit. 25 damage.
Colaxus Guard 3: "Opening fire on the enemy!"
Metal Man (GM): Guard 3 decides to shoot at Demon instead. He fires twice at Demon, to start. Demon: Blocking? Dodging? Attempting to Parry?
Kumiko: "Son of a bitch..."
King Demon would try to dodge by ducking behind the debris/doorway.
Metal Man (GM): 50 damage to Demon, hit both times. Guard 3 then opens fire at Kumiko twice. Kumiko: Trying to dodge or blocking or parrying?
Kumiko: *Her dodge is garbage, so she's gonna take a defensive stance and block.*
Metal Man (GM): 25 and 12 damage respectively to Kumiko. Now, Kumiko and Demon may act. They could have acted earlier, but... in this surprise round, it is now up to them what they want to do. Can enter the building (but would possibly leave Nonna behind), attempt to extricate Nonna from being flanked by two guys with machineguns, or... run towards the other portal and all the tanks. Up to you guys.
Kumiko: "My blade craves blood. Since you shed mine, its time I shed yours. Harmonia!!" *She uses Harmonia Strike on the third guard mostly because she's pissed.*
Metal Man (GM): Marley and his reaction will occur after your turns; he has been rather quiet, yes. Guard 3 has a rather nice looking assault rifle, if you want to try to take it from him.
Kumiko wonders if she even has a chance of taking the damn thing.
Metal Man (GM): Yes, although, the issue is, more soldiers are incoming.
Kumiko: *Too risky for her to try then.*
King Demon: "Nonna, we need to go. We're going to get overrun if we stay here with these idiots."
Metal Man (GM): If you want, you can of course, tell Marley to do something. He, as usual, has been rather quiet.
King Demon: "Hey, Marley, have any of those bottles of booze left?"
Marley: "Yes. They're made out of magic, so I don't have to worry about runnin' out."
Nonna: "I'm well aware."
King Demon: *Gestures to the guards* "Think we can create a nice little explosion for them?"
Kumiko: "Would be better than me cutting one in retort..."
Marley: "My explosion hits one person at a time... not enough to stop that many people coming at us, but if yeh want a distraction to help flee with, then that'll be what yeh get."
King Demon: "Actually, I was thinking about creating a molotov with your bottles and my fire, but that'd work too."
Metal Man (GM): Marley could hit one of the two guards without hitting Nonna. The other is a bit too close.
King Demon: "Let's just clear a path for her to get back here."
Metal Man (GM): Yes. That one is partially blocking her path. The other one is a bit to the side of her, and thus, not really in the way.
King Demon: *He'd launch a fireball at that one, trying to clear her path.*
Metal Man (GM): He blocks it, and thus is unmoved, but takes half damage.
King Demon: "Well, that sucks..."
Metal Man (GM): Granted, all this blocking is taking up his stamina.
Kumiko: *She'll actually redirect her bloodthirsty rage towards the same guard blocking Nonna's path with a Harmonia Strike, since she hasn't used any AGI yet.*
King Demon shrugs and launches another at the guard, if nothing else he can chip off some damage and maybe get lucky.
Metal Man (GM): He blocks that as well, and runs out of AGI. This time he cannot block. He is hit full on and knocked aside by that.
King Demon: "All right, come on, Nonna, let's get going!"
Metal Man (GM): He's not lit on fire, though.
Metal Man (GM): Marley gets in his turn afterwards, before the next round.
Marley: "Here, let me help."
Metal Man (GM): He rolls up his sleeves and fires his Ele attack at both guards next to Nonna. The other tries to block and fails.
One fiery blast from each fist knocks them back.
Nonna: "Now, let's get out of here!"
Marley: "Agreed. I can't burn 'em all!"
King Demon: "Of course not, they're not Pokemon."
Metal Man (GM): Now the next round occurs and Nonna and everyone may flee inside. Marley does so immediately. Smashing through the glass in an action-hero-esque manner.
Kumiko: "I agree. We won't last otherwise..."
Nonna: *Carefully breaks through into the interior.*
Metal Man (GM): Most likely, the guards will follow you in. At least the two there that you fought with. The others that are running to catch up... you can't tell from here. Well, I'm waiting for you guys to say you go inside. Nonna went inside, as did Marley.
Kumiko heads inside, keeping her Blodsabel ready and engaged as she expects the guards to follow them in.
Metal Man (GM): Kumiko is now inside as well.
Nonna: *Once everyone's inside, she uses Laguz and an ice Ele to create a thick ice barrier around the entrance to stall the guards from following them.*
King Demon: *He'd light the debris on fire to block the soldiers from following them, before heading in himself.*
Metal Man (GM): Demon lights the debris on fire behind him, then the Laguz puts out the fire and freezes the way out solid. Some of the fires on the edge remain, but don't spread to the ice since that debris is wet. The question is what of the soldiers... ...They were gonna hang back and just shoot, so... You hear a bunch of bullets get stuck in the ice.
King Demon shrugs and heads into the tower.
Metal Man (GM): Once inside, you see the way out is fairly quick. Just up some stairs... stairs with chains blocking the way up them. You see something else as well. Two humanoid robot entities sitting in what looks like an ancient convenience store. One of them casually turns around to look at you, caked in a ton of dust. It has a fairly human face, but part of it got blasted off, revealing nothing but gears.
King Demon looks at the robots for a second, then uses the Dex on them.
Smash Dex: "Error: No data publicly known."
Nonna: "Bavarian fire drill."
King Demon: "Of course not." *He would look around the area before approaching the robots.*
Shopbot: "Greetings cust-om-er. You appear to be suffering from defects. Customer rebooting process must be followed."
Nonna: *Casually walks past them to the door.*
King Demon: "... What?"
Shopbot: "Please stand still as you are rebooted."
King Demon: *Shrugs and approaches the other* "What do you have for sale?"
Metal Man (GM): The shopbot casually takes out a piece of rebar and heats it up to red hot... it's got a pointy end and it stabs for your face! Dodge or block or parry, Demon?
Kumiko: "Great. Rogue technology. Should we really waste time with these things...?"
Metal Man (GM): The second shopbot appears to be silent for now. The shelves are... old magazines. Crumbly old magazines. Some with bullet holes on them. In the Onta'visian language you can't probably even read...
King Demon: "... Of course..." *Sighs and looks at what was in the abandoned shop.*
Metal Man (GM): Nonna would see the portal has a door blocking the way to it that asks for "15000 Onta'vis Credits per person" King Demon: The robot is attacking you. Do you dodge or block or parry? It's wielding a burning piece of rebar and seems intent on poking your eyes out. No, the robot is trying to stab you, not the invaders.
King Demon: *Yeah, he'd dodge it, pulling out his sword in the process.*
Metal Man (GM): It can't seem to sense any invaders.
Nonna kicks the door.
Metal Man (GM): It misses Demon. The door shatters violently. Alarms go off.
Shopbot: "Enemy vandal detected. Preserve store integrity."
Nonna: "Let's get moving."
King Demon: *Would slash at the robot, backing toward the stairs to join Nonna at the portal.*
Metal Man (GM): It abruptly turns its back on Demon and starts walking after Nonna, up the stairs. It tries to evade the slash. It dodges the slash from Demon. Nonna would see if she could crawl into the box through the gap she made, there's a button to activate the warp. You hear a rumbling noise outside.
Nonna does so.
King Demon: "Nonna, you got company coming!"
Metal Man (GM): The robot runs up to attack Nonna, only to discover the warp has been activated. Nonna vanishes. Now the robot is blocking the way to the warp for Kumiko, Demon, and Marley. Marley walks up to the robot and goes to just slam booze into its face.
King Demon: *And he'd try to light the booze on fire.*
Metal Man (GM): The robot is lit on fire and smashed. It staggers backwards. Just as that happens, a tank shell hits the area outside, shattering a hole wide enough for all the guards to rush in.
Marley: "This is our stop!"
Metal Man (GM): Marley leaps into the portal.
King Demon: "I agree with you. Come on, Kumiko!"
Kumiko: "Very well..." *She hops in the portal.*
Metal Man (GM): The New Questers in the abandoned shop jump in. In the background, the guards open fire on the robots. Then they retreat after discovering you're gone, for whatever reason.
King Demon gets past the robot, trying to knock it down the stairs toward the incoming soldiers, before heading through the portal himself, firing at the controls as he does so, to prevent the soldiers from following.
Metal Man (GM): Ah. The portal breaks shortly after you use it, ensuring they can't even follow you.
King Demon: "Well, THAT was fun..."
Metal Man (GM): You appear on the Wing Fortress... in the main warp-area, just to the side of the hangars. I need to go and get a snack now, since it's dinner and I forgot to eat. :V
Nonna: *Coughs as she dusts herself off* "Everyone okay?"
King Demon: "Yeah, for once, I didn't get killed!"
Kumiko: "We survived..."
King Demon: "Well, let's go see how the others fared, huh?" *Heads for the main room of the Fortress.*
Nonna: "I think I can use a shower and change of clothes first. I'll need to be in my command ship shortly anyway."
Kumiko: "My memory is fuzzy, but usually I don't make it out of moments like that without severe injury. So... I should count my blessings."
Nonna heads off to do that, assuming nobody wants to intercept and talk to her first.
Metal Man (GM): Xavier speaks on the intercom.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You all right over there? We're having a meeting in the Briefing Room when you're up for it."
Kumiko: *She begins breathing heavily, partially from what just happened and partially because she nearly fell to her own lust for blood* "Yeah. I think we're OK..."
Nonna: *R* "We all made it. I'll be there shortly."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Okay, see you in a moment."
Nonna: *She quickly showers and gets into her official peacekeeping group's admiral uniform and arrives in the Briefing Room.*
King Demon: "Ah, good." *Heads that way.*
Metal Man (GM): Inside the briefing room is.... The Apple ][e computer... The smooth jazz band, playing a slightly different tune from before...
King Demon yawns and stretches as he comes into the briefing room.
Metal Man (GM): The comfy chairs as usual, and... Xavier busy scrutinizing an image projected on the wall of the enemy fleet, in beautiful 2D-vector graphics.
Kumiko takes a deep breath and follows to the briefing room, finally over herself.
Metal Man (GM): This would also be the others from the other team's chance to join in--Louisoix and so on.
Nonna: "You okay, Kumiko?"
Kumiko: "I'm alright. I just nearly lost control of myself in the previous encounter."
Marley: "I'm glad to see everyone is in one piece..."
Valron: "Yes, it's rather re-assuring to see that nobody got messed up too badly..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This here is the Briefing Room, for those who haven't seen it before."
Valron: "Worst I got was a punch in the face from Vetrek. Kinda stung, but... Eh. I've had worse."
Kumiko: "If I'm uncertain in my actions, Blodsabel will try to take over. It's one of the few things I remember; because the sword itself lusts for blood."
Louisoix: "...the jazz band knows where we're going, right?"
Valron: "Presumably, yes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "It's in their contract. They can leave if they feel it's too dangerous but... So far none of them are too bothered."
Louisoix: "Well, whatever floats their boat I guess."
Metal Man (GM): The bassist continually plucks chords and glances over.
Gelato: 'w' *He's bobbing his head to the music.*
Nonna: "So. What's the status of the enemy fleet? Have my troops shown up yet to assist?"
Louisoix finds a chair to sit down in.
Bassist: "The entire universe is at risk. We figure it's best to help provide you a mellow environment to plan in... rather than go hide when there's no safe place to hide anyway."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. Also yes. I mean... Your troops are here, and there's... Time Cop-sponsored ships flying in."
King Demon: "I like his attitude... damn, I shoulda gotten some wings before coming in."
Louisoix: "...well, its appreciated." *Still... odd tastes, these people.*
Valron: "...Sounds like we're in for a bit of a shitstorm, I see."
Bassist: "You get used to the destruction and chaos after a while..."
Nonna: "Have you tried hailing them?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. I've gotten an interesting message."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier puts up the pixelated video from the other side.
Kumiko: *She'll try to find a place to sit, shifting back to her more quiet nature.*
Enemy Ship Commander: (Recorded Message) *R* "If you want us to back off, return Vetrek to us. Nothing else will suffice."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "All messages at them otherwise... nothing but that message in return."
Louisoix: "Well its not like we were going to hold him indefinitely. Any progress with Vetrek, by the way?"
Nonna: "Has he been sufficiently interrogated?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We haven't interrogated him yet. We only got back here a bit recently. That said, I have him here..."
Nonna: "I'll send them a response. Get started on him, and I'll deal with these jokers."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier clicks a solid steel knob and Vetrek is raised up from under the floor inside a glass case, held in place. Well, at least, a basic hologram of him.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He can't hear or see us, but, there he is. Who should ask him questions?"
King Demon: "Can I burn him?"
Nonna gets onto communications.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The New Questers don't do torture, as much as certain past Questers and Erastians might want to do that."
Louisoix: "No, that sort of interrogation doesn't really go anywhere."
Valron: "...Well, seeing as Nonna's taking the initiative..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Besides, he's a politician. We don't want to give him a reason to tell us what we want to hear."
Louisoix: "She's preoccupied with the Time Cops."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'd much rather we get whatever it is he thinks, including whatever smugness is going on."
King Demon: "Ah, right, forgot that part. Oh well." *Shrugs* "I'm more action, less talk."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I was thinking what we might do is just ask him here with specific questions."
Valron: "What's the basic outline on what we want to ask him, exactly?"
Nonna begins to record a message.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What did the Time Cops say to him, what do they want, what are they doing, basically."
Louisoix: "Well... we want to know about why he's there, and what his role on the planet is. That too. Right, if we can get sufficient answers, we can avoid conflict."
Metal Man (GM): Illian walks in, full of bullet holes. He casually sits down and pours a healing item on himself, healing himself.
Valron: "Been busy, I take it?"
King Demon: "And what the hell does Thanatos want with this world?"
Illian MacGregor: "Me and Kit helped create that whole... jamming thing you needed."
Louisoix: "...well, I suppose I'll give it a shot. Xavier, what do I talk into to talk to this guy?"
Illian MacGregor: "It was a bit painful getting back, mind you. Their guns hurt."
King Demon: *Sees Illian* "Not asking, don't wanna know."
Valron: "Aahh. Thanks for that, Illian. ...Mind, I was going to give the interrogation a shot, myself, but... Hrm."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well since it's a bit jarring to do it here, we can just go down to the room he's in to do it, which is down the stairs."
Nonna: *R* "The criminal known as Vetrek will be returned to your custody in short order. We have determined that this rogue actor had gathered a group of rogue Time Cop agents from your side and attempted to turn the planet into their personal playground. Since we and you are committed to our non-aggression and non-interference treaty, we have faith that you will conduct your own investigation and criminal trial on him and those responsible that wished to destroy our relations. Once the paperwork is finished, we will release him into your custody."
Louisoix: "Alright, lets head down there, then."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier opens the door to go down there.
King Demon: *Looks at the board* "Whose ships ARE those, anyway?"
Louisoix: *Follows Xavier, looking to the others.* "Any of you have ideas, or do you want to stay back?"
Valron: "If you're certain that you've got everything covered, then I'll leave the matter of interrogating him to you."
Louisoix: "Hm... alright, then." *He certainly didn't have an interrogation background, but whatever. Someone had to do it.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The ships? We're not 100% certain, they seem to be rather well disguised. Time Cops probably set them up but they have no obvious identifiers."
Nonna sits back and gives them time to process what she sent.
Metal Man (GM): So far, it seems the ships are busy processing what was sent to them.
Louisoix: "Alright, lets head out, then. The sooner we get intel the better. Xavier, got any good food? Should bring it down."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What kind of food?"
Nonna: *R to the Questers* "I don't know how much time I just bought. But it's some."
Valron: *He pushes himself up out of his seat.* "It's best that we don't dawdle, then."
Louisoix: "Hmm... tea, something light to eat... maybe some sandwiches. He can ask for something else. Whole point is to relax him, anyway. You can really just get what you want to eat. I imagine you're hungry."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier shrugs and pushes a button. A glowing hologram man walks in holding a tray of sandwiches.
Nova: "This is entirely not what I was made for, Xavier."
Louisoix: "Thanks, uh... thanks." *It isn't like he knows its name.* "Well, lets go, I'll carry this."
Nova: "I am Nova. You are Louisoix. You are not Garrick."
Louisoix: "Ah, thanks, was kind of awkward that way, Nova."
Valron: "..." *He stifles a laugh as Nova brings up that last bit.*
Nova: "I am used to talking to awkward people."
King Demon: "Huh... Oh, hey, a Holowaiter! Can I get about 18 wings with hot sauce and a bottle of Cherry soda?"
Nova: "Most of them were named Garrick."
Louisoix: "I figured."
Nova: *Sighs* "I will have to program a holographic cook to keep up with all of this."
Valron: *He just shakes his head, a hint of amusement on his face.*
Nova: "...Can you hold the tray, Louisoix? I have to create that other food as well."
Louisoix: "We were in a hotel for a while where they could order whatever they want. Maybe it got to them."
Nonna: *R to Questers* "Do note that with Vetrek being caught, his value to them is less than trash. He should be made aware of this."
Louisoix: "Yeah, I offered to anyway." *He took it and held it for Nova.*
Metal Man (GM): Nova vanishes, then walks in again with a tray full of hot wings and cheerwine soda. He hands it to Demon.
Nova: "Now I must focus, unfortunately. An enemy fleet is incoming."
Metal Man (GM): Nova vanishes.
Louisoix: "Xavier, ready to show me where Vetrek is?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Right. Uh... Illian, Louisoix, this way, you should all go there... I guess if anyone else thinks they would be useful they can follow..."
King Demon: "Ah, thank you, waiter person." *He takes the tray.* "... Wait, the waiter is also the pilot?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, Nova is currently piloting the ship. Borne got tired of being the autopilot."
Valron: "Ah. I was going to come along in case they needed someone to be cross at Vetrek in case being nice wasn't going to help, but... it seems you've got enough people for that, then."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier starts walking down the stairs towards where Vetrek is.
Illian MacGregor walks towards the stairs.
Nonna: *R to Q* "They only want him back to kill him."
Louisoix: *Would follow, of course.*
King Demon sighs and stretches, and heads for... wherever he's needed, wings and soda in hand.
Valron: "I guess I'll be on standby in case things get start getting especially heated."
Louisoix: *He turned to the others.* "If you're hungry, well, there's this, anyway. I dunno if he'll eat any of it."
Gelato: *He's going up to the cockpit to 'help' Nova steer.*
Louisoix: "Actually, its best if you did, he might think its drugged or something."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier casually takes out a glowing blue rock and bites it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Mmmm... vitamin blue..."
Louisoix: "...is that an actual vitamin, or do you just like rocks?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "A little of each."
Metal Man (GM): The way down continues--it's a bit long, these stairs.
Illian MacGregor: "Watch out for this pipe here." *Ducks under one of the pipes that the shorter Xavier would be able to walk by without knowing.*
Louisoix: *It was in that moment that he realized that this food idea wasn't going to work with a bunch of nutjobs as his allies... oh well.*
Metal Man (GM): Finally after a lot of walking you reach the 'basement' area. There, Vetrek is... inside a glass case, held in place with a bunch of magic. It's all lit up and well air conditioned, so it's not all that inhumane. He's just surrounded by a bunch of steel walls and there's several laser cannons trained on him should he do anything funny.
Metal Man (GM): Vetrek looks at you and stares.
Vetrek: "--As I was saying, you don't know what you're meddling in. Sandwiches? ...Set them aside. I will determine by your words whether you intend to knock me out yet again."
Louisoix: "...mm, guess not." *The tray was good decor for one of the tables, anyway.*
King Demon follows everyone down, pausing at the pipe, wondering what it's actually for, before deciding to ask later and ducking under it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, we have the canons at him because... uh... well Illian said to do it."
King Demon: "When have you ever listened to what he says?"
Editor's Note: Good point, actually. The answer would probably be, because this isn't the same Illian who doomed the universe.
Illian MacGregor: "With people like Autumnus out there, we can't take any chances. Anyone might warp in and try to rescue him."
King Demon: "Eh, OK, he has a point."
Louisoix: "Fair enough."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, to be honest, only because he had a point."
Louisoix: "Well, anyway." *He looked to Vetrek.* "To my knowledge, we're meddling in Time Cop affairs, in which you're to be leader of a planet, which would harm a known peace treaty. Anything I'm missing?"
Metal Man (GM): Vetrek is an older human, with a reddish tinge to his skin--he's not entirely human, at least not EARTH human. He has green eyes, and reddish hair. He wears a slick black suit with futuristic edges on it made out of some future-fiber. He has the four other corporation insignias on his chest plus a giant V above them all. His face has been hit several times and is heavily bruised. He seems to be somewhat in pain being forced to stand up like this, as well.
Louisoix: "On our end, we wanted to know why this sort of act was being done in the first place. Obviously, asking nicely wouldn't really work, so we came to ask you; however, you're guarded by the people we want to question in the first place, and that wouldn't end well diplomatically. Hence we have you here and why we're here now."
Vetrek: "I was willing to say it out there in public, so I'll say it again: The Outlier Threat threatens all of Onta'vis. Only by unifying the Five Corporations can the Outlier Threat be defeated. And the Time Cops may be working with me, but I assure you, it is MY plan, not theirs. I am a native son of Onta'vis, son of the cherished General Vontis. It is my birthright to rule Onta'vis."
Louisoix: "I find that hard to believe, knowing what the Time Cops are capable of. If they want to help you, its not out of the kindness of their heart."
Vetrek: "These people who have taken over bought their positions. They do not deserve to rule anything. The Outlier threat, as relayed to me by the Time Cops... are these beings from outside this universe. They have come to corrupt the world with technologies and magics that will render everything we know obsolete. Once that has happened, we will be enslaved by their powers, from using tech we do not understand. As leader of Onta'vis I would banish outlier technologies, such as this ship, from ever touching it again, protecting it from the threat you unwittingly are propagating."
Louisoix: "Well, that's not your plan, then, is it? The Time Cops told you of this, and then you made a plan on what they told you."
Vetrek: "The Time Cops only informed me of the threat. It is my plan that will deal with it."
Louisoix: "Do you have evidence that such a threat exists?"
Vetrek: "Yes. You're right here in front of me. I was gifted the knowledge of Outlier Technologies... Standing before me is a Solarian. Solarians are outliers. There is a Solarian robot... that is also an outlier. And this Demon literally is an Outlier from the Lower planes... and on top of that, from the Virtual Realm."
Louisoix: "Well, I don't know how you know that, but, that aside. That doesn't establish a threat. We're trying to keep peace."
Vetrek: "It is through the adoption of your technologies and methodologies that the Outliers will take control. You are merely the infection agent. You do not know who uses you!"
King Demon: "Aww, shucks, and here I thought he was talking about Thanatos..."
Vetrek: "Thanatos is also an outlier. Do you think you are the only ones?"
Louisoix: "And your evidence that there is someone manipulating me? This sounds like a conspiracy theory. Think about it. How many people and nations have created bloodshed over such ideas?"
King Demon: "Of course not. As far as who rules the world," *He shrugs* "I really don't give a shit, long as the Time Cops have nothing to do with it."
Vetrek: "What bloodshed would there be? It was you people who attacked me. Thanatos is the one who enjoys bloodshed, not I. I weep for those who have perished from recent acts of atrocity by Thanatos."
Louisoix: "And what would have happened if we did not? How much bloodshed would have been made in comparison?"
Vetrek: "I would rule Onta'vis and issue my proclamation. Peace would reign throughout the planet. The Outliers would take their threats elsewhere. It is you who are obsessed with bloodshed, not I."
Louisoix: "Anyone defined by your terms would be given a stigma, to the point of harassment, even death. For what?"
Vetrek: "They would be peacefully returned to where they came from. That is how the Time Cops relayed it to me. You Outliers have left your home worlds. What could you possibly want with peaceful Onta'vis but bloodshed? Onta'vis is a trade planet. Those who wish to trade with us should be those in the same system... and should be licensed. Is this not the logical option?"
Louisoix: "Lets be clear here. Your plan is to work with the Time Cops on this. A group which is known to obliterate worlds who defy them, killing millions, their ruler a nutjob. In fact, we already had intel that, if you were to die during the mission, they would have replaced you anyway."
Vetrek: "Is it really me who is the most important person, or my ideas?"
Louisoix: "So you want to create peace through bloodshed, but complain to me that we hurt some people to get you. Note, we didn't kill anyone, Thanatos did because he's a nutjob. Not to mention all the things Autumnus and the Time Cops did in the past, destroying entire worlds and such."
Vetrek: "What bloodshed would take place? I would simply have the Outliers all go home."
Louisoix: "A person who believes in something with no evidence wants evidence. Alright."
Vetrek: "Only those who would abandon their Outlier technology and magic could live amongst us."
Louisoix: "Xavier, I'm sure that's not hard to satisfy?"
Vetrek: "This Autumnus... he sounds like another myth, created to satisfy the need for bloodshed."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier shows several bits of information, including Lyx attacking the Questers during SSQ^2, and Autumnus being involved in the Evil Wolfman madness. Vetrek looks and shakes his head.
Vetrek: "Anyone could create such fantastic images. How do I really know--"
Illian MacGregor reappears near the glass out of nowhere, punching it and cracking it, and shaking the entire room.
Vetrek: "Ahhhhhhhh!!! Don't kill me! I only come to promote peace on Onta'vis! I don't know what you're talking about with this Autumnus person! There is every chance I don't know about the Time Cops but I assure you, if I knew about him and could be certain he was that way, I wouldn't have worked with him!"
Illian MacGregor casually cracks his 'fingers.' "You're not worth killing. But we need to know what you know."
Vetrek: "But I already told you what you need to know. The Time Cop I talked to wasn't named Autumnus."
Louisoix: "Right, I understand that much. That is what I am trying to tell you; the Time Cops manipulated you in order to gain foothold and break a peace treaty."
Illian MacGregor: "And who is that?"
Vetrek: "Zalman, of course. He told me how above board and lawful it all was. And that he'd make sure everything went according to plan. He hasn't, to my knowledge, killed anyone, and he doesn't appear to have any appetite for destroying entire worlds."
Metal Man (GM): Lou could look him up in the logs, since the smash dexes record what others see and that data's been uploaded.
Illian MacGregor goes silent for now, confident he's done what was needed to be done.
Louisoix: *Would do so.*
King Demon: "Can I ask a question? Wouldn't the Time Cops, by your own definitions, be outliers as well?"
Smash Dex: "Zalman. Mysterious businessman. Seen observing the fall of Julian's stadium. Later appeared to hassle multiple Questers when they recently went to leave Onta'vis. Appears obsessed with details about who is a murderer and who is not."
Vetrek: "The Time Cops have always ruled Time here. Whether or not they are outliers, it's not for us to question them. They stay out of the way unless needed."
Louisoix: "Not much here to go on. But he seems to be some sort of ambassador. Which is unsurprising, someone who exists to give an organization a good look isn't going to go around killing people."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "To be honest, I have no records of Zalman killing anyone, so it is a tough thing to prove he did anything specifically evil. But the messenger does bear some responsibility for who he serves."
Louisoix: "Well, like I said, it sounds like he's their spokesperson. Its irrelevant if one person didn't."
Vetrek: "What do you even want with me? If they told me everything, they probably wouldn't have let you capture me..."
Louisoix: "Gelato isn't a murderer and he's cute. What, so does that make all of us good by definition?"
Vetrek: "I was a partner. They made it clear if they told me too much, they would have to kill me. As I just noted, I have no interest in dying, so I stayed out of it."
Louisoix: "Quite the business partner who wouldn't tell their partner enough."
Vetrek: "Well, they made it clear it was necessary for the stability of the universe. Whatever you people do, I'm not about to ask you. You have reason to keep your operations secret, I suppose."
Louisoix: "By their definitions, yes. Well, we want to know their plans, and your role in this plan."
Vetrek: "If I knew their plans, I'd be dead. That's why I never asked for their plans. All they told me was that there would be peace once the Outliers were removed or made to reform their ways."
Louisoix: "So you intentionally made yourself a puppet, not knowing what they had in store for you."
Vetrek: "My business is for Onta'vis, not for this... other world confusing nonsense. What good is it to me to know some other worlds vanished? Those worlds probably let their Outliers corrupt it into oblivion. I can't get rid of them. They've always been here for all my life. Those who rebelled back when died a horrible death."
Louisoix: "But without evidence, you don't know if that is the case. You're making assumptions that can lead to dangerous ideas. For a leader, that is dangerous."
Vetrek: "They said the same about my father, but he was the only fair leader of the planet. These corporations and their demand for accountability are nonsense. I know what I know, and I am right. You can't tell me otherwise."
Louisoix: "Whether or not you rule the planet isn't any of my business; however, we've seen that the election process has been rigged to swing in your favor, thanks to outside manipulation, for an idea with no basis in reality that could hurt people who didn't do anything wrong."
Vetrek: "Election? Heh, how quaint. You know that Onta'vis is a shareholder planet, right? It's all about buying the shares. And it just so happens I have the money, so... what's the big problem?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What we need is to know what those ships up there are about to do."
Vetrek: "Well, glad you asked, because I think I would be asking the same thing. I don't know."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "Nonna, if you have any input... we've gotten about all we can get out of him and he's being rather evasive about any information on the Time Cops."
Vetrek: "I just said, they would kill me if I knew too much. Feel free to ask me a million times, though. It's a lot better than being tortured."
Louisoix: "Well, we don't torture, so its not like we were going to do that."
Nonna heads down.
Vetrek: "All the more evidence we should be on the same side."
Louisoix: *It seemed to be an impasse. It was already obvious he didn't know anything, but he was so brainwashed it was impossible to reason with him...*
Nonna stares at Vetrek.
Metal Man (GM): Nonna manages to walk in. Vetrek has a rather interesting reaction as he looks at Nonna.
Louisoix: "Well, Nonna, you can ask your questions. Xavier, do you have a moment?"
Vetrek: "Oh, the truth at last! Rendar wishes to conquer our planet!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sure, what is it?"
King Demon: "Rendar? Who's that?"
Vetrek: "It's her homeworld. You didn't know? Heh... you're the one being manipulated..."
Louisoix: "We're not getting anything out of him. But I think we could do this the other way around if it doesn't go anywhere. If he knows literally nothing, that means he's a part of a plan the Time Cops have. So we need them to tell us using him as bait."
Nonna: "Mister Vetrek. I think you're the one who doesn't realize what's happening here."
King Demon: "Oh... Wait, I thought you were from Alsa!"
Vetrek: "Well, that's on purpose. I don't need to know. Only Onta'vis concerns me."
Nonna: "You see, we really don't care who governs Onta'vis."
Vetrek: "Then what is the problem? I wish to remove the Outliers who are here to manipulate Onta'vis."
Nonna: "It's a neutral planet whose neutrality is guaranteed by us and the Time Cops. Neither of us are to interfere without an agreement between our sides."
King Demon: "Therein lies the problem. By being present here, they ARE interfering."
Vetrek: "Well, the Time Cops are only advising me. Do you wish to also advise me? I am not opposed to having all the information... as long as it pertains to Onta'vis and not this... other nonsense. I mean... Alsa? Who cares about that planet?"
Nonna: "And yet there you were, appearing in public with armed guards wearing Time Cop uniforms."
Vetrek: "Oh, those. Well those were my mercenaries. The uniforms were just excess from the ruins of Omnus' organization."
Nonna: "No. If that were the case, Zalman wouldn't be working with them. And yet there he was."
Vetrek: "What's your proof... and even if you have such 'proof', why do I care? This treaty is between you and them."
Nonna: "Even now they demand your return."
Vetrek: "Yes. They wish to allow me to complete my plans."
Nonna: "You're a puppet."
Vetrek: "They haven't any interest in meddling in my plans for Onta'vis... they've cleared the way for me. Certainly, they could strike me down if they disliked something I did... but that's how it's always been."
King Demon: "Or a zombie..."
Nonna: "Do you really think they'll just shake your hand and let you keep doing things now?"
King Demon: "Actually, they'll probably see him as weak and get rid of him."
Vetrek: "Well... yes, actually. They didn't intend on me getting captured, but... Zalman made it pretty clear they were behind me all the way."
Nonna: "They used you. And now that they were caught, you're no longer useful."
Louisoix: *He looked to Xavier for some reply to his idea.*
Vetrek: "They wouldn't do that. Who is even more effective than I? I have four out of the five Corporations sealed up."
Nonna: "I have no doubt as to your faith in the plan you envisioned... but here's the thing. There is only one international law on Onta'vis."
Louisoix: "Literally anyone with money."
Nonna: "Do not involve the Questers or the Time Cops."
Louisoix: "You just said that money is the only thing that is necessary."
Vetrek: "You want me to stop working with Zalman? But why? Does your treaty truly stop him from giving me information?"
Nonna: "And you went out of your way to break this rule, thanks to them. You're their fall guy, a convenient sacrifice so that if their plans went south, they can get away with it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Using him as bait... I'm not 100% certain he would be very useful bait, Louisoix. They don't seem to care enough to attack us immediately."
Vetrek: "In that case, they must be counting on you to kill me."
Louisoix: "Hmm, we'll go with what we have then," *To Xavier, of course.*
Nonna: "Thankfully we're not the type to do that. However, they are directly requesting us to give you to them."
King Demon: "Actually, as I understand the treaty, it DOES stop him from giving you information."
Vetrek: "They wish to free me from you. It's the sort of thing Zalman would do."
Louisoix: "Seems that they're asking either us to kill him or they'll do it for us."
Nonna: "For such an unimportant schmuck, why would they bother coming out here just to get you back?"
Vetrek: "Well, then, maybe I can help. What would fix this treaty so they could give me information? I only wish to destroy the Outlier threat, you know. Unimportant? Heh... you have no clue what you're dealing with... they simply are using the civil means. No bloodshed, that way."
Nonna: "They do things that make death look pleasing."
Louisoix: "Why do you keep saying that when you have no idea what is going on. Stop being ironic."
Nonna: "So we're here to offer you a deal."
King Demon: *He shrugs* "From what I understand, the treaty prevents them from... how DOES that treaty read, Mets? Is it that they can't interfere in ANY worlds they don't directly control?"
Nonna: "We'll give you the chance to go back to Onta'vis and fight for your dream... whatever it is, without anyone's help other than the locals'."
Louisoix: "Demon, the treaty to this guy is meaningless at the moment."
King Demon: *Shrugs* "I think that's what it said. Either way, that is why we are here. We are trying to ensure the treaty is not broken."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Onta'vis is not to be interfered with, the non-aggression pact actually allows us to remain with our influence on Onta'vis and the Time Cops would leave us alone as long as we left their places alone. This current stuff here however is basically skirting the treaty by giving information to an agitator who wouldn't already have it. Whereas we left alone the Five Corporations, so while we have our interaction with Onta'vis, we aren't rocking the boat either."
Nonna: "If you have such faith in your people, they can surely turn it into a trade hub that the universe would envy."
Vetrek: "Well..." *He does actually begin to pause at that.* "They wouldn't listen normally, you know. Zalman though, he always knows what to do. But if you also know what to do, maybe I don't need him..."
Nonna: "In return, you drive off all the Time Cops, and we leave you guys alone to do whatever. Our relations will be strictly trade-only."
Vetrek: "The problem is, the Outlier, Thanatos, has been enraged by your presence. He will blame me for this and if the Time Cops are not on my side, I will become a sitting duck to be roasted to a crisp."
Louisoix: "Yes, that is certainly an issue."
Nonna: "Thanatos was planning to kill you, you know. And yet your Time Cop friends... let him be."
King Demon: "Yeah... about him... where is he from again? Didn't someone say that his own planet couldn't stand him?"
Vetrek: "Zalman would protect me if he actually got close. The fact you haven't killed me proves Zalman let me get captured because he knew you wouldn't kill me."
Louisoix: "A friend of yours allowed someone who wants you dead close? The guy can summon black holes, you know."
Vetrek: "I'm a grown man, I can survive the risk of dying. As long as I don't actually die."
Louisoix: "Good luck with that."
Vetrek: "Zalman can freeze time."
King Demon: "Well, yeah, he IS a Time Cop, after all."
Nonna: "If Thanatos wishes to deal with us, he can make an appointment."
Louisoix: "I see." *He would look to the others, did they actually gather some intel finally?*
Vetrek: "Thanatos won't want to deal with you like I talk. He's the sort to just kill, and kill, and kill."
Nonna: "You do not need Zalman's help."
Vetrek: "Okay, sure. Just drop me off then."
King Demon: "He is. Wonder what'd happen if his people found out about what he's doing here."
Nonna: "Onta'vis is a proud, neutral planet that doesn't need any outsiders there, if they so choose. He's likely looking for us, so if you want him off your planet, tell him where we are."
Vetrek: "Who, Thanatos? Zalman? I can tell Zalman. Thanatos doesn't really care what I have to say."
Nonna: "Before you leave, I'd like you to tell the Time Cops outside that you're breaking off your agreement with them."
Vetrek: "First, I need Thanatos dealt with. He'll kill me the moment he figures out he's not going to be stopped in time for trying to do that."
Nonna: "That's already being arranged."
Louisoix: *Sits down near the sandwiches. He goes to try and eat one, then remembers that he can't and puts it down.* "Geez, next model needs to have that feature..."
King Demon: "We get to go another round with him?"
Louisoix: "Well, thankfully we're at an advantage. He knows only of the people he had to fight, but we know about him."
King Demon: "Sweet, I can get some magical roasted dragon wings!"
Vetrek: "And if I may be so blunt, Zalman can just as quickly help someone else if I break it off with him. What are you to do to prevent that?"
Kumiko: "Kill, kill, and kill some more... hm..."
Nonna: "That's why we need Onta'vis to be strong, so that we need not intervene like this anymore."
Vetrek: "If you can keep the Time Cops out of Onta'vis, then I shouldn't have any issues. It's you and Thanatos and The Time Cops after all, who have all the Outlier powers."
Nonna: "Your message to them will determine how we do it."
Vetrek: "So if I tell them to go away, you'll make them go away?"
Nonna: "So, let's see how they react and we'll go from there."
Vetrek: "I just have to be certain because, without Zalman, there isn't anyone to freeze time and kill whoever tries to kill me. And that, as you might understand, is a lot to give up for any reason. Especially since he could do the same at me for betraying him. I only worked with who I did, because they were the ones in control. You're... new to this universe, you know. No track record as to whether you'd actually do anything about Time Cop meddling."
King Demon: "We're here specifically TO do something about Time Cop meddling."
Nonna: "They broke the treaty and set you up as their fall guy for it. Please try to understand the position you're in."
Vetrek: "Yes, obviously if we are to work together, you should undo the fact I've been set up as a fall guy by ensuring they don't make me fall moments after I break with them. If all the Outliers are out of it, so to speak, then I don't need to deal with either of you ever again."
Nonna: "We're not working together. We're merely enforcing the treaty."
Vetrek: "Fine. As long as you stay by it. I have alternate resources in case you screw me."
King Demon: "We'll stick around only to make sure the treaty is followed. What happens on your world beyond that is up to you."
Vetrek: "I may not be alive, mind you, but. Word spread about how you destroyed Sloan. My assets aren't all concentrated on me. And never will be. My father's legacy is what matters. If I become a martyr for it, so be it. But you will have what you want. I will tell Zalman we have concluded our business."
King Demon: "Hmmmm..." *He'd search through the Dex to see if he can find any information on Vetrek's father.*
Nonna: "Very well."
Metal Man (GM): General Vontis. As noted in the previous briefing, he was dictator over Onta'vis many ages ago. He held the place in an iron grip but was eventually forced from power due to being too unpopular and not having control over the many corporations. Vetrek, whose 'peace through unity' posters were everywhere when you visited, apparently wants to try again. Although by buying out the various corporations, it suggests that he still pays at least some lip service to the 'Corporate Planet' idea.
King Demon: "Huh... may I offer a small suggestion, Vetrek?"
Metal Man (GM): And as far as anyone can tell, he's been buying people out instead of killing them. Whereas General Vontis was known for, well, being a warlord.
Vetrek: "It would be advice from an Outlier and thus probably not cut out for Onta'vis, but I have no choice but to listen."
King Demon: *Chuckles a bit* "It would be a wise course of action to learn from your father, both his successes and his failures. A happy planet tends to be a more peaceful one."
Vetrek: "Zalman initially suggested I just kill everyone in the way, but it was I who insisted on buying them out. If only because as a corporate planet, Onta'vis is more about the money these days. It would be pointless bloodshed to fight people when they can be bought. The Time Cops prefer to destroy whoever is in their way, as you have said. I only carried water for him because there seemed to be no other way. But if you are going to give me another way then we shall see what happens."
King Demon: "That is good. Keep your planet peaceful, and its people happy."
Vetrek: "If there is nothing else to be said, I would like to prepare to do as you noted and get things done. My people have no clue where I am and those ships appear ready to potentially invade. There may be another that Zalman is preparing to take my place. There is only so long that my backup assets can stall while I am here. Though if I may say... you should work out this issue with the Time Cops. I do not see why you fight. If Zalman was being honest with me, then he clearly wouldn't agree with this 'Autumnus.'"
King Demon: *Nods to him* "I believe that is all." *He turns to the others* "Anything else or can we let him go?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "In the place as Nonna said, we can take him there when the time is right. We must make sure everything is in place so that, yes, he doesn't just immediately get splatted. As much as it will be up to him to survive past that point. We must just ensure that the treaty is obeyed."
King Demon: "Zalman may say that, yes, but he is just one of hundreds, and his vision is not theirs."
Vetrek: "Then you should turn him away from the Time Cops, before they kill him. He is their messenger, not their warrior, after all. He knows much about everything. Perhaps he could help you as well. He complained as much that some Time Cops shot first, asked questions later. But I'm not seeing you shooting people right now, so... even though you are tainted by Outlier concepts, you appear to agree with my ideas of keeping Onta'vis separate from that."
King Demon: "We don't wish to shoot, but we will when the need arises."
Vetrek: "Seems to be what he thought as well..."
King Demon: "It is a shame more do not feel that way, there would be much less need for shooting."
Vetrek: "This Autumnus clearly is the problem, then."
King Demon: *Nods* "Has been for a long time. It seems that the one who took his place isn't much better, though he is smarter."
Nonna: "There's still a section of the planet without working cameras."
Illian MacGregor: "Kit and I blew up their computer... kind of hard to un-blow-it-up..."
Nonna: "That will be a safe place to drop him off, I think."
Vetrek: "One that Thanatos cannot see, yes."
King Demon: "Indeed. Then after that we can see about getting Thanatos off your world. Did you want something to eat before you leave? Or drink? Heck, something to take with you, for that matter?"
Metal Man (GM): I'm gonna pause soon since I need to plan the bit with ol' Vetrek and such.
Vetrek: "I can eat the sandwiches now that I see you don't intend to off me."
King Demon: "I don't think we ever did intend to do that. We just wanted to know what the Time Cops wanted here."
Vetrek: "Can't really move in here much, so you'll have to place a sandwich in my hand. Well the Time Cops never really want much. They just rule things. If you want to change that... it's up to you."
King Demon: "Yeah... sorry, I'd undo the bindings, but I'm not much of a mage in that regard." *Gets him a sandwich* "That's true, but there's presumably a reason why your planet in particular is of interest to them. After all, if they didn't think your world was worth their time, they'd probably just destroy it and move on."
Vetrek: "It's the border between your territory and theirs. Presumably their influence increasing into your area would be of benefit to them. If that's really what they had in mind by advising me."
Metal Man (GM): He eats the sandwich and stands there as the other stuff goes to be moved into position... and I think we'll call it here.
King Demon: "Perhaps." *He shrugs* "If we're allowed, and we have the time, I'd like to come back and learn more about your world."
Metal Man (GM): But on that note...
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Seems like we have this in order then. I'm going to get up to the top and prepare for our visit to drop him off and have that all in order..."
Nonna adjusts her uniform.
Vetrek: "As long as you arrive in the proper way, there shouldn't be anything in the way of you visiting the world."
King Demon: "The proper way? So... no guns blazing?"
Vetrek: "And since this treaty is such big business, next time you should make sure to reserve it ahead of time and note what your trip will be. I mean. So that we can make certain you're not influencing me either. Rest of the planet... it's a corporate world. You're free to spend your money on whatever is there."
Louisoix: "Well, glad that's sorted out. Well, there's sandwiches and tea if you want them."
King Demon: *Shrugs* "I have way too much time on my hands, and my curiosity tends to get the better of me. I think if I wasn't what I am I'd probably be some sort of scientist."
Illian MacGregor: "Well, there's plenty of time to potentially become a scientist here, should you be interested... I'll be on my way." *Walks back up.*
Gelato: *He comes down from the cockpit to do something very important. Vetrek's after dinner mint!*
Metal Man (GM): Xavier snaps a button so that Vetrek has enough mobility to actually pick up and eat other sandwiches and such.
King Demon: "Yeah, Illian, just... hope I don't become like Dr. Mario."
Vetrek: "Ah... I see you are trying to at least emulate a hotel in hospitality... all the Time Cops gave me was the advice."
Metal Man (GM): And with that... we pause. MISSION COMPLETE.
