Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 110: Wolfman & Zero
Date: December 5th, 6th, & 17th, 2004.
Trivia: This session was not fully logged. Only parts got through, due to my visit to my grandparent's house at the time. That's all long gone now, but... it still effected this log, unfortunately.
Zero begins walking towards it, drawing his saber. Its laser blade ignites, forming an almost crystalline triangular blade.
Razor (GM): Zero can barely make it out through the swirling dust... but there is the obvious shadowy form of a large base there. The wind seems to be against him, blocking his view and slowing his progress... but he eventually manages to push out of the sandstorm. Not long after, he hears the patter of numerous footsteps behind him...
Zero whips around and holds his saber defensively. He remains silent, searching for whoever's there with his eyes.
Razor (GM): Three blue and white-armored, one-eyed mechanical soldiers push their way out from the sandstorm, leveling their busters at Zero.
Zero stands his ground. These guys are a piece of cake and always have been!
*Missing portion of log*
Razor (GM): Damage. One of them then follows up by firing off a quick burst of three smaller shots.
Zero takes a single hit, but the other two go straight past as he jumps them, performing a nice lil' flip. Zero won't let them get away with that. He slashes the same one he was attacking across the chest.
Razor (GM): Hit! Zero cleaves it right in two. It slides apart before falling to the ground in two pieces.
Zero turns to the next one, the one that fired the three shots at him, and dashes past it, elbowing it in the back of the head. (Run attack)
Razor (GM): HIT! It stumbles forward...
Zero spins around and grabs it in a head lock. electrodes in his armor activate, sheathing him in blitzing electricity as he uses his Maverick Shock attack.
Razor (GM): ZAP! Hit! Zero has it grabbed...
Zero follows up by stabbing his saber through its back.
Razor (GM): The saber jams right through it. The Hunter's body goes limp and it slowly slumps to the ground. One left... two kills in one turn.
Zero faces the last one with that expressionless glare, narrowing his eyes a little.
Razor (GM): The Hunter takes a step back... then another... then another. It levels its gun to fire again, taking another step back... and then it's gone. Forgot about the edge of the canyon, apparently. A full ten seconds later, there's a crash and a small explosion resound through the canyon.
Zero: "... Stupid hunters."
Razor (GM): The way is clear...
Zero continues walking towards the base, stepping on his discarded cloak on his way.
Razor (GM): Zero comes upon a wide gap extending from the canyon... walking around it would take too long... looks like Zero is gonna have to jump!
Zero ... well... jumps... over the gap...
Razor (GM): Zero trips up a bit on his leap... but luckily he manages to grab a hold of the ledge on the other side (It wasn't a BIG gap...)
Zero hmphs and hoists himself up, dusting himself off and continuing on, drawing his saber again.
Razor (GM): Ahead there is the broken corpse of a reploid lying against a rock. Several... birds... appear to be picking at it. As Zero comes closer, they look towards him, their eyes flashing red.
Zero prepares himself for combat once again, lowering himself into fighting stance.
Razor (GM): *BATTLE!* *The two birds instantly take off as Zero threatens them. One of them flies at him and lashes out at his face with its talons. The other flies high up before swooping down at him in a blur.*
Zero's hit both times.
Razor (GM): They then both peck at him with their beaks.
Zero's dropped below decent health now. His badge activates, sheathing him in a reddish hue.
Razor (GM): One hit.... The two then fly a short distance up and away from Zero.
Zero looks up for a moment, pausing. "..." He double jumps to see if he can narrow the distance between him and the birds.
Razor (GM): Zero easily reaches up to one of the birds... increasing accuracy on his next attack against it!
Zero: *Jump! He pushes off the ground, leaving a cloud of dust in his wake. Double Jump! Jets in his feet boost him up further. He drops down, bringing his saber down onto one of them and trying to smash it into the ground.*
Razor (GM): The bird swoops to the side and pecks Zero on his way down. ...it pecks Zero alright... pecks his Saber... and falls into two pieces.
Zero takes the time to unload a haymaker on the other one. The player is now confused. -_o (Now applying the RIGHT bonus here)
Razor (GM): HIT! The bird lets out a short squawk as it flies apart. With the two Conoroids out of your way, Zero can continue ahead.
*Missing portion of log*
Razor (GM): A huge miss! Counterattack!
Zero puts up his saber in a block. "Not this time, you worthless piece of SCRAP!" He forces the stun baton down and tries to stab it through the chest.
Razor (GM): *STAB!* He looks in pretty bad shape, but is still alive!
Zero puts the tip of his blade to the dirt and leaps up, wreathed in bolts of lightning, bringing the Z-Saber up through the Guardian's body.
Razor (GM): HIT! He suddenly freezes up... then his two halves slowly slide apart before hitting the ground with a THUD THUD.
Zero lands with a loud thud himself, putting his blade through half of its disembodied head in a crouch as he pants. "Da... damn it... gah... huh... stupid Rollers..."
Razor (GM): Not far now... the base is just past that rock... but there's something funny about that big rock.
Zero: "And I just know there's something big up ahead." He turns to the rock, pulling his saber out and standing. "There's gotta be a way to get my strength up..." He looks around for ANYTHING that might help. Only a small hit's worth of damage before he's as good as dip!
Razor (GM): In the remains of that Guardian you find... a medium power core! *Replenish health!*
Zero: "GUH... huh... thanks, buddy." He tosses the used core's empty husk back with the remains and goes off to the rock, saber at the ready.
Razor (GM): As if on cue, a massive claw/pincer/blade thing smashes through the rock, sending pieces everywhere and surrounding the area with a cloud of dust. WARNING!
Zero shields his eyes and steps back, wincing a little before looking up at his opponent.
Razor (GM): The dust settles to reveal first a massive bladed appendage, which appears to be a tail of sorts. Soon the entire thing is revealed... a massive Mechaniloid Scorpion stands between Zero and his objective. It lets out a screech and slams its pincers together. *Mini-boss: Mecha Scorpion.*
Zero decides to take advantage of its slowness, dashing in between the claws and straight for its ugly face, giving it a good wake-up Viral Slash.
Razor (GM): *SLASH!*
Zero next brings his saber back up through it, leaping into the air as he does so. *CRITICAL HIT!!* This one REALLY catches it in the face, gashing through it intensely. Then he rises into the air fast, spinning around and slashing its tail deftly.
Razor (GM): HIT!
Zero falls in a sort of rondo, landing on the Scorpion's back and ramming his fist through its body once. (Punch)
Razor (GM): The scorpion's tail lashes out, shoving Zero away with its broadside before the punch can connect.
Zero rolls over a few times on the ground before skidding to a halt back on his feet, preparing himself for its counterattack...
Razor (GM): Then, it rears up high before lashing downward towards the Reploid with its bladed edge.
Zero: "Hmph. I've seen Cyber-Elves tougher than this!" *SLASH/PIERCE!* The Reploid takes a direct hit.
Razor (GM): It then follows up by lunging forward and trying to clip Zero with a superheated pincer.
Zero: *CLIP!* He's hit.
Razor (GM): The pincer is brought back, only to be fired off like a rocket, flying to slash at Zero on the way out and back.
Zero ducks and rolls backward to avoid the flying rocket-claw, and then backflips out of the way gracefully as it comes back in. He strides back in and grabs a hold of its pincer with one arm, forcing it out of his way while he tries to crush and electrify it simultaneously.
Razor (GM): HIT! Grabbed!
Zero throws the claw out of his way and dashes in with a stab! *STAB!!* His face is impaled for more damage before Zero throws a haymaker through it. *CRITICAL HIT!!*
Razor (GM): Zero's fist slams right through its face... his hand would come out with the Mechaniloid's cybernetic brain in its grasp.
Razor (GM): The Mecha Scorpion shudders and slumps to the ground, lifeless.
Zero: "..." Zero tosses the brain away and steps over its corpse, deactivating his saber and sheathing it behind his back. His hair whips in the wind as he proceeds to his objective.
*Missing portion of log*
Metal Man (GM): Zero's in the big room again... Dr. Light is there. He apparently has the details of Zero's next mission.
Zero: "What're the details on my first mission?"
Dr. Light: "Good Morning, Zero. Well... we've compiled data, and found only one way of getting to Saga."
Dr. Light: "You see, the Quester Hunters are blocking all space and warp travel to Saga from Nintendus with their Space Station. This started... shortly after Metal Sonic destroyed the warp door. However... there is a way through their blockade."
Zero: "Unless they have a giant wall up between here and Saga, nothing can keep me out of there."
Dr. Light: "Yes... Their blockade is based upon satellites and a network of scanners that scan everything that moves towards Saga. One person... with strange technological abilities... has created a prototypical machine to circumvent this barrier."
Zero: "A cloaking device?"
Dr. Light: "...Yes. One powered by unknown means."
Zero: "Where do I find it?"
Dr. Light: "Unfortunately, the Quester Hunters shot him down, and his craft crashed near Mount Moon."
Zero: "Hmph. Sounds pretty fortunate to me. It's rather convenient."
Dr. Light: "He's also... neutral... so you might need to threaten him before he will help. He is the last of the surviving Fallen Questers, and for a good reason. He's resourceful. Once you've gotten it from him, use his flying mecha to go past the barrier."
Zero: "If his cloaking device is so powerful, how did the Quester Hunters shoot him down?"
Dr. Light: "Well... earlier, Locos was threatening the planet with a deathray. Questers had to... attack him... to shut it down. He is allied with Locos, and misinterpreted the attack. So, while near the Quester hunter satellite, he attacked the Questers. Those evil Quester Hunters shot him down from behind."
Zero: "Fair enough. Will I be able to get supplies before I leave? I haven't gotten my buster pistol prepared yet."
Dr. Light: "Sure."
Zero: "And I mean before I leave for Saga."
Dr. Light: "That as well. What else do you need?"
Zero: "If there is some type of repair item I could get, that would be extremely helpful."
Dr. Light: "Oh, sure. We have energy capsules that replenish a little of of your health if you are damaged, conveniently priced at a bargain of 600 coins apiece."
Zero: "... I guess that's out of the question then. That's about half my funds."
Dr. Light: "Well... we're still developing a cheaper option."
Zero: "Whatever. One raving lunatic shouldn't be too much trouble. Now, where do I go to get to Mt. Moon? Warp room?"
Dr. Light: "Yes."
Zero: "Good. Thank you doctor, I'll return with Maxwell's mech in a short time."
Dr. Light: "Good. Good luck, too."
Zero: "It'll probably need repairs..." He mutters this to himself as he heads for the warp room.
Metal Man (GM): The warp room is pre-set, and it opens a warp to mount moon as Zero approaches.
Zero steps into the warp, drawing that saber again as he prepares to meet the "Locals."
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* Zero appears in the beautiful forest of Mount Moon. There is, in the distance, a trail of burnt and charred trees. The beginning of that trail is right in front of Zero. It's very long, and there's little bits of debris, too small to be useful, but enough to be annoying, scattered about. They sky is clear, the afternoon sun overhead. Zero can hear some birds chirping.
Zero: "... Yeah, resourceful..." He starts walking towards the crash site, looking around for anything that might be remotely useful.
Metal Man (GM): Zero sees bits of the armor. The only thing of notice is a badge from the MTA, apparently. It says 'Sora' on it in flowing script. Otherwise, the bits are about the size of rice. As Zero walks, he begins to feel that he is being watched...
Zero: "... I bet that guy saved about an eighth of the mech and it's not even flyable..." He proceeds despite this strange feeling, fully confident that he could take anything here.
Metal Man (GM): Zero encounters a weird boy wearing a green and white striped shirt, brown hat, short green pants, brown boots, blue eyes, and a cocky smirk on his face.
???: "What is a steel type pokemon doing all the way out here?"
Zero: "..." He stops as he reaches this... odd looking person... "Steel...? Pokemon?"
???: "It must be rare..." He pulls out a thing much like the smash dex, and points it at you.
Dex: "...Unknown. Not a pokemon."
???: "What? This thing must be broken."
Zero: "Either that or I'm not a pokemon, huh?"
Metal Man (GM): ??? pulls out a round, red, pokeball.
???: "So you're a pokemon trainer? I may be a bug catcher, but you do look very rare..."
Zero: "... What? No! I'm here on a mission. I'm a soldier!"
Bug Catcher: "A mission? What? You're with Team Rocket!"
Zero: "Team what? No! I'm with the Questers from the Mushroom Kingdom."
Bug Catcher: "Questers? Mushroom... kingdom? I better tell Professor Oak about this. But... first, I must challenge you to a battle!"
Zero: "..." *sigh.* "Whatever. Just tell me what you know about this crash. ..." He ignites his saber. "Fine. If that's the way you wanna play it... show me what you've got!"
Bug Catcher: "Go Pikachu! I choose you!"
Metal Man (GM): He throws the orb, and out appears a Pikachu.
Pikachu: "Pika! Pikachu!"
Zero: "..." He looks down at the pokmon... listens to its first words... and then facepalms with a sweatdrop. "... This is just embarrassing..."
Pikachu: "Pika... PIKAAAA!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu fires a huge bolt of electricity at Zero. ...It strikes a tree, cutting it down.
Zero: "... Gyah!!" He sidesteps the bolt as it chars the earth and fries a tree.
Bug Catcher: "Beat him up, Pikachu!"
Zero: "... What the hell!? That thing's SUPERCONDUCTING! ... Best take it out quick before he sends more of them at me." Zero performs an upward swipe with his saber on the critter's chin.
Metal Man (GM): HIT!
Bug Catcher: "Pikachu! Don't let him hit you!"
Zero lofts it into the air, then winds up and releases a carefully timed Haymaker to try and bash the Pikachu at his own trainer.
Metal Man (GM): HIT. Pikachu flies at the trainer, dealing damage to him as well.
Zero runs up and PUNTS the Pikachu with a kick.
Metal Man (GM): *SUPER-MISS* *COUNTER ATTACK.*
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu sidesteps the kick, then tries to bite Zero's leg!
Zero: *chomp.* "..." -_o
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu uses this time to Thunder Bolt Zero. ... COUNTER COUNTER ATTACK.
Zero steps back out of the vicinity of the bolt, then leaps back in with a spinning saber slash--a VIRAL SLASH to be exact--to make the Pikachu think twice about tangoing with him again.
Metal Man (GM): Miss.
Zero: *The dark blade whips over its head.*
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu does a different electrical attack. He fires waves of energy at Zero. Hit. No damage.
Metal Man (GM): STUN.
Zero short circuits a la X whenever Vile shoots him.
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu then tries to hit Zero with with a Thunder Bolt. Luckily, he misses.
Bug Catcher: "Yeah! Beat him down!"
Zero struggles a little and decides he's gonna try a new strategy... having been slowed down. He attacks the Pikachu with a simple punch.
Metal Man (GM): Pikachu dodges that, then retaliates with another bite attack. *CRIT.*
Zero: *critical bite. *
Metal Man (GM): Then, Pikachu starts charging for his attack. The attack has been charged. Pikachu flies at Zero like a missile. Head first.
Zero: "...!?" *POW!!*
Metal Man (GM): *SMACK* The trainer is producing a bottle of something from his bag.
Zero: "This thing... is startin' to piss me off..."
Bug Catcher: "Yeah! Beat him up! Then we can capture him and take him to Professor Oak!"
Zero looks to the trainer and approaches, still blitzing with electricity. He decides to take a swipe at HIM now.
Trainer: "What? AHHHH!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): *SLICE.* Zero hurts him. The result is a penalty to Pikachu's attacks, morale penalty.
Zero continues by unloading his Haymaker to try and knock the dumb kid out.
Metal Man (GM): *PUNCH* The Kid is sent reeling.
Bug Catcher: "Save me! Jenny! Police! Team Rocket! He's cheating!"
Metal Man (GM): *KO.* Zero knocks out the kid. The Pikachu stops looking mean and merely goes over to the trainer.
Pikachu: "Pika! Pikachu. Pika pik chu."
Zero reaches down and tries to find SOMETHING that looks useful. Something to cure his paralysis.
Metal Man (GM): The trainer dropped several things.
Zero: "Sorry, but I'm no pokemon. I TRIED to explain that to him... Look, I don't have time to fight with little kids and their pets... even if their pets can power a dynamo. The kid'll be fine... sorry, I didn't want it to come to that."
Metal Man (GM): A 'Full Restore', a 'Poke Ball', a 'Poke Dex', and 'Super heal' The Pikachu seems to understand... then wanders off into the wilderness!
Zero takes the Super Heal and the Full Restore, leaving the dex and the ball on the kid.
Metal Man (GM): The 'Full Restore' Heals all status effects and damage. The Super Heal heals 50% health. The path ahead is clear.
Zero: "Guh..." He waits for the paralysis to wear off.
Metal Man (GM): It's a little bit later. The sky has a few clouds on it. The paralysis wears off quickly.
Zero then continues on his way, now feeling glad that he's at least got some recovery items.
Metal Man (GM): Up ahead, Zero sees the wreck of a mecha that Light was talking about... Only problem is that it's surrounded by a barricade... manned by weird black-wearing people with R's on their hats and clothes.
Zero: "..." He blinks.
Metal Man (GM): There's a few craters around it, and a memorial... one of them musta been killed.
Zero: "What are you supposed to be? Neo beatniks?"
Metal Man (GM): They don't seem to mind the fact that Zero is coming towards them... but they block the entrance.
Rocketgrunt1: "No. We're Team Rocket. And this is our super weapon!"
Zero: "Looks like a hunk of junk to me."
Rocketgrunt1: "Some madman was living in this 'hunk of junk.'"
Zero: "Oh, so your superweapon is a hobo's unibomber shack. That gives me an idea of how much YOU'VE got on the shelf." ¬¬
Rocketgrunt1: "He conveniently had a cloaking device on him. Unfortunately, he also had laser gun."
Zero: "Mmhmm. Does he still have the cloaking device with him?"
Rocketgrunt: "...He killed one of us, then hid inside that hunk of junk."
Rocketgrunt: "Yes... he's hiding behind a force field."
Zero: "And you're... tirelessly laying siege to him..."
Rocketgrunt: "Yes... and we've been keeping it secret from those idiotic Bug Catchers."
Zero looks to see if any of them are playing cards..
Metal Man (GM): Well... a few of them are. Pokemon cards.
Zero: "Well, good, you passed my test. I was sent by..." *thinks.* "... the big boss." *tries to make that sound big; he overemphasizes that last bit to compensate for the time he spent thinking.*
Rocketgrunt: "The BIG boss? Wow... do you have your ID on you? Anyone who talks like you do is allowed inside, but we won't be liable if that guy kills you. Though if you're from the boss, we can always help you."
Zero: "I don't want or need help."
Rocketgrunt: "Okay... then you may proceed."
Zero pulls the saber and ignites it.
Rocketgrunt: "...You're like that madman! FLEE!!!"
Metal Man (GM): They run away from the site.
Zero: "... Well, that was... surprisingly easy."
Metal Man (GM): All of them. Some of them left their cards, too. The way in is unguarded.
Zero proceeds to loot the cards and walk up to the mecha.
Metal Man (GM): The mecha is protected by a blue force field.
Zero: "... Not QUITE what I expected."
Metal Man (GM): Zero has obtained: Random Team Rocket Pokemon Cards! The force field looks tough. Like, really tough. There are bits of grenades and bullets scattered around. And a crater where that idiot who died probably was blown up. Or... atomized, looking at the crater.
Zero inspects the area, looking for any means he can use to get through the force field.
Metal Man (GM): There is a lone pipe on the ground. It's blunt on one end, really sharp on the other end. One of those Team Rocket people was... 'sharpening' it.
Zero picks up said pipe, then tries jamming it sharp end first into the force field.
Metal Man (GM): *ZOOM.* It flies right through the forcefield, cutting a nice hole. Then it jams itself into the hull of the... thing.
Zero: "... This thing isn't so tough!"
Metal Man (GM): Zero jumps through before the hole reseals itself, of course. He would hear a hatch open.
???: "Who's there? Another mailman? I just finished blasting the other one into the ground!"
Zero: "... Yeah..." he watches the hatch. "... real resourceful." He repeats it to himself again.
Metal Man (GM): A guy, about 30-ish, with real messed up brown hair, green eyes, some weird Earth-boundish attire, and a cannon strapped to his right arm walks out. His glasses are cracked, and he looks angry.
Zero: "Yes, well..." He tries to think of another ruse that these nutcases might buy. "I'M here to inform you that... you... might have already won eight trillion coins."
Jeff Maxwell: "Oh, great. Those fools have sent a robot to kill me, the great Jeff Maxwell. What? Eight trillion?"
Zero: "Yep. Eight trillion."
Jeff Maxwell: "...I could use that to fix my doomsday weapon..."
Zero: "Mmhmm. And all you need to do is submit a device to Inventor's Weekly. I'M last year's winner's project!"
Jeff Maxwell: "Hmmm... Well... okay... let's see what I have."
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell goes back into the mecha, and comes back with a whole lot of weird objects.
Zero: .oO(WOW these people are gullible.)
Jeff Maxwell: "You may pick any one of these devices."
Zero looks over said devices carefully..
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell puts them atop a flat rock.
Zero: "Well, I was REALLY hoping to get a hold of that lovely craft of yours!"
Metal Man (GM): There is a weird green cube, a paper airplane made of steel, another one of those deathrays, a bowling ball that levitates... and a rubber ducky that is constantly on fire.
Zero: "They say that's what you, the great Jeff Maxwell, are famous for! Though I rather like this." He takes the death ray.
Jeff Maxwell: "Huh... I stole that hunk of junk from the Questers."
Metal Man (GM): Zero has acquired: Bizarre Deathray device.
Zero: "Oh, is it? Well, I'm afraid we can't allow plagiarism in this contest."
Jeff Maxwell: "Be careful with that deathray... don't like, try to eat it or point it at your face..."
Zero: "I'll have to confiscate it."
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell smirks.
Jeff Maxwell: "You can keep it... but only if you can get it to fly."
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell knocks on it, and an ENTIRE ARM falls off of it.
Jeff Maxwell: "I barely survived the crash. This thing can't even move!"
Zero: "Would you care to point out its features to me?"
Jeff Maxwell: "Sure."
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell walks inside the mecha through a ramp, waiting for Zero to follow.
Zero gathers up all the other items while his back is turned and follows.
Metal Man (GM): Zero walks inside... and the door slams behind him. Zero is sealed inside a glass ejector pod.
Jeff Maxwell: "Hah! Now I have the ultimate invention in my clutches! With you... I SHALL WIN THAT CONTEST AGAIN!"
Zero: "... Oh PLEASE." He draws his saber AGAIN and starts cutting himself a hole through the glass pod.
Metal Man (GM): The saber bounces off of the material.
Zero: "... !? Dammit!"
Jeff Maxwell: "Sorry... but that's made of diamond. Nothing I make can break it, either."
Zero: "... So how do you intend to get me out?"
Jeff Maxwell: "Kill you."
Zero: "How the HELL does that get me out!?"
Jeff Maxwell: "When you're dead, I can get you out. Heheheheheh... HAHAHAHAHAHA... the Fallen Questers aren't dead yet!"
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell presses some buttons, and electricity starts jumping around inside the tube.
Zero: "Hm..." He checks the pod for any weaknesses, structural or... not..
Jeff Maxwell: "I shall use you as my power source!"
Metal Man (GM): The controls on his ship light up, and Zero can feel that Jeff is sapping his energy.
Zero: "Okay, gotta remain calm." He NOW looks for a way outta' this thing. There has to be something he can damage in here..
Jeff Maxwell: "Now... Tell me the coordinates of the contest!"
Zero: *Electricity doesn't come or go into NOWHERE, obviously.* "The coordinates? ..." He recites off the coordinates of the Melee Stadium.
Metal Man (GM): This electricity is coming from two metallic bands at the top and bottom of the pod.
Jeff Maxwell: "Okay... off we go!"
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell presses a few buttons, and the machine flies off to the... stadium... yeah. Another bit of energy is drained from Zero.
Jeff Maxwell: "Wait... maybe you're going to escape and kill me! Yes... with my own bowling ball!"
Zero: "Nah. What can I do? This thing is escape proof!"
Jeff Maxwell: "...You have all my inventions... hmmm..."
Zero: "Look, asshole! If I escape, this thing loses power and CRASHES. Then we BOTH die. So get us to that contest already!"
Jeff Maxwell: "Whatever you say."
Metal Man (GM): The MTA speeds up tremendously. SLIGHTLY MORE DAMAGE. Jeff Maxwell smirks sadistically.
Zero: "GIGH... okay, SCREW this." He withdraws the Super Heal, chugs it, regaining all his HP, and then throws the bowling ball straight through the glass tube... hoping that'll do the trick. No friction + lotsa' mass + lotsa' speed = lotsa' force.
Jeff Maxwell: "You have ten minutes to tell me the truth!"
Metal Man (GM): Zero breaks the tube... and overloads the electricity. The tube isn't broken, but the supports are. Zero is rolling into the side of the MTA. The ends of the pod are weak. The MTA is falling.
Zero desperately tries to punch through the end with a haymaker.
Jeff Maxwell: "No! Give up! You can't win!"
Metal Man (GM): *PUNCH* Zero escapes... But now the MTA is plummeting to the ground at high speed.
Zero drops out of the tube, cracking his neck a bit. He looks around for where the cloaking device might be.
Jeff Maxwell: "You broke the only escape pod... We're all going to die!"
Metal Man (GM): There's a door that leads to 'Generator room.' Zero can be sure it's in there, judging from the electrical activity.
Zero kicks through that door then.
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell kicks and punches to control panel. Zero breaks in, and sees two cube-shaped generators. And a third, burnt out one.
Zero: "Oh jeez."
Metal Man (GM): There's something weird written on the wall. 'The cube of power is the broken one. The one of shielding is to the left of it. The one of cloaking is to the right of the shielding cube. The shielding cube can be used as a power generator in an emergency.' This was carved into the wall, FYI.
Zero swiftly moves the shielding cube into the power cube's spot, then replaces the shielding cube with the extra green cube that he happened to pick up. After ditching the old power cube, of course.
Metal Man (GM): There is a loud clack, then the entire ship lurches forward... knocking Zero off his feet.
Jeff Maxwell: "...Whaaaat? You saved me? Well... too bad you will have to be destroyed."
Zero: "Gah!! ... Yeah, right!"
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell conveniently turns his back on the controls, and points his deathray at Zero.
Jeff Maxwell: "I press this button... and we all die!"
Zero: "..." -.-
Jeff Maxwell: "You have 10 seconds to do something. 1. 2. 10!"
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell presses the button. *CLICK.*
Zero winces. "..." -_o "..."
Metal Man (GM): The gun then glows... and explodes. Jeff Maxwell is knocked back into the console. The console is unharmed.
Jeff Maxwell: "...Okay... you win... just let me escape."
Zero: "... Yeah..." He repeats himself one more time. "... Resourceful..."
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell opens a door to the outside, then climbs on the outside of the flying MTA.
Zero: "Oh, sure. After being THAT MUCH trouble."
Metal Man (GM): Power is going down. The power is at 50% of 100, and going down fast.
Metal Man (GM): Zero will need to tell it to land or something.
Zero: "No way in hell, asshole." He takes the controls and brings this thing down Jeff-first, hoping to smash that guy into the ground.
Jeff Maxwell: "AHHHHH!!!"
Zero doesn't particularly seem to care about being upside down or anything... >.>
Jeff Maxwell: "Press the other button! Not the 'Kill us all' one!"
Zero: "Shut up and die."
Jeff Maxwell: "..."
Zero quickly jerks the ship backwards in an attempt to fling him up into the air.
Metal Man (GM): Jeff Maxwell is nearly tossed off... but is caught by his watch's chain.
Zero sees that he has no other choice... He throws the flaming duckie at Jeff in an attempt to ignite his shirt.
Metal Man (GM): Zero throws it, it misses, hitting the arm of the MTA... which falls off in a burning meteor.
Zero: And then follows it up with that bowling ball. ¬¬
Metal Man (GM): Zero hears "THE FALLEN QUESTERS WILL RETURN!" Before a huge explosion. Jeff Maxwell is finally dead, after a long and pointless fight. Zero now has the ship, which is low on energy.
Editor's Note: Actually Jeff Maxwell escaped, most likely. He's good at the 'fake death' bit. I wouldn't be surprised if he kept popping up in SSQ 1 for a while...
Zero: "... Yeah, whatever..." Zero sighs and gathers himself up... this place is starting to get to him. He sits down and brings it into landing position, right-side-up.
Metal Man (GM): Oh, yeah. That Deathray Zero stole crumbles to dust on cue. Not that it'd work or anything... Zero is near the stadium.
Zero: "Alright. Time to call Dr. Light." Zero flips open his dex and strokes a few keys to call the doc.
Metal Man (GM): It shows Dr. Light.
Dr. Light: "Hello."
Zero: "Dr. Light? It's Zero."
Dr. Light: "How are you doing on your mission?"
Zero: "I've killed Jeff Maxwell and recovered the ship. The cloaking device is complete, but this thing's in really bad condition."
Dr. Light: "Thank heavens! He was a loose cannon."
Zero: "For one thing, it's missing a few arms. And the power's out."
Dr. Light: "Did you know he's responsible for... most of the deadly weapons that Locos has?"
Zero: "And who DESIGNED this thing?" He looks around at the Disney paraphernalia..
Dr. Light: "Well... it was a combination of that freak and a guy named Sora."
Zero: "Are they all as defective as his 'Destroy both of us' gun?"
Dr. Light: "No... that gun must have broken in the crash. But they aren't as weird as his other inventions."
Zero: "Alright. Well, anyway, I can't fly this thing to the stadium. Not enough power. I'm nearby though. Can you send someone to pick me up? Or warp this machine back?"
Dr. Light: "Yeah... do you mind taking a limo?"
Zero: "After this crazy ride, not at all."
Dr. Light: "Mario will come and get you. you're near Toad Town."
Zero: "Great. Zero out." He flips the dex closed.
Metal Man (GM): There's a nice green field to land in ahead.
Zero... lands... again... <.< ... Yep... nothin' to do but wait from here... *cough.* ... Yep.
Metal Man (GM): Zero lands. The limo comes to pick Zero up. It's... a special limo, seeing as it has a trailer and stuff to pick up the MTA with.
Zero sits back in the seat and sighs as he looks through the open hatch, waiting for his pickup. Little did he know that he just did something revolutionary; with Maxwell gone, universal energies came at least a little closer to balance. He steps out and stretches as the limo comes. He steps inside and takes a look around at the rather swank ride. He's not used to this sort of luxury. Not that he'd need it, anyway. He just sits back, crosses a leg over the other, and shuts his eyes. "That was nuts..." He opens his eyes and looks out the moon roof. What swank limosine is without a moon roof? "... What have I gotten myself into?"
Mario: "Don't worry... those Fallen Questers were all nuts..."
Zero looks down, having not noticed Mario. "... Oh jeez, are ALL your enemies like that?"
Mario: "No... that was the last of the series. They were made to be stupid... by Smithy. Who was then defeated and sent into hiding."
Zero: "... Who makes their soldiers stupid on purpose? Where I come from, reploids are built to be the most intelligent and capable people around."
Mario: "Well... they chose stupid soldiers. The worst of the Questers. The worst of the worst."
Zero: "What would possess someone to do that? There's no advantage in inept employment, is there? Well... I guess the stupid are easily controlled, huh?"
Mario: "Yes... that and... Smithy isn't a very good leader. I should know. I beat him the first time!"
Zero: "Well... thanks for picking me up. You're Mario, right?"
Mario: "No problem. I'm a retired race driver, and... yes."
Metal Man (GM): The limo reaches the stadium.
Zero: "Sorry if I seem ignorant... but I'm sort of new here..."
Metal Man (GM): Dr. Light is out front. He walks up to the MTA... and gapes in awe.
Zero: "Well, thanks again, but that's my boss. I'd better report for debriefing."
Mario: "See you later!"
Zero: "... See you." He steps out. Even his goodbye seems laced with emotionlessness. "Dr. Light?" Zero approaches the doc.
Dr. Light: "...You got it... but... did you have to break it so much?"
Zero: "I'm afraid that's the result of my struggle with Maxwell to acquire it. Not much of a loss, I think. It wasn't very sturdy to begin with, from the looks of the framework."
Dr. Light: "I can tell you why."
Dr. Light: "First, it was... stolen. From us."
Zero: "What does that have to do with its strength?"
Dr. Light: "Well, it was 'upgraded' by Smithy and Jeff Maxwell."
Zero: "... Forget it. It's unimportant." The Reploid obviously has no interest in the history of this craft.
Dr. Light: "We'll try to fix it."
Zero: "No, do me a favor. The cloaking cube is in the generator room along with the shielding cube. If I'm flying this mission, I want something a bit more practical..." He looks over the MTA. "I wouldn't be caught DEAD in something that looks like this. Mecha, starship, whatever. Just give me something decent enough for me to fly."
Dr. Light: "Ok. I'll have to make some adjustments to a new mecha."
Zero: "Thank you. Where do I go to receive payment for this mission?"
Dr. Light: "Since Metal isn't here, Wolfman gave me some money to pay you with."
Metal Man (GM): Dr. Light hands Zero a bag with the Coin sign on it. 3000 coins are in it.
Zero holds out his hand to accept the money. He sort of smiles a little.
Dr. Light: "2000 of those coins are from the bounty on Jeff Maxwell's head. Many people wanted him dead."
Zero: "I can see why... Thank you."
Dr. Light: "Including those... Team rocket people."
Zero: "Yeah. I ran into them. Are they ALWAYS that gullible?"
Dr. Light: "Sure... they let people in and out a lot."
Zero: "Hmph. Good luck fixing this thing, doctor. Please call me when it's prepared." He proceeds into the stadium, having finished his first objective for his rather hefty mission..
Metal Man (GM): Dr. Light nods, and goes inside. Later on... Wolfman's at Super Smash Quest Headquarters, in his office. Man has it gotten dusty in there.
Wolfman: "Let's see here... bills... bills... bills... ooh; the latest edition of Mushroom Sports Illustrated!"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are off on a mission, and Zero is currently resting after stealing a mecha needed for his next mission.
Wolfman sets the magazine aside, and cleans up the rest of the area.
Metal Man (GM): It's pretty quick cleaning, since Mack kept it all neat... it was just the dust that accumulated. There's a new thing in Wolf's room: A weird cylinder with a keyboard atop it.
Wolfman stretches his joints... they feel rusty. Then he notices the new cylinder. He goes to it.
Metal Man (GM): It comes up to a comfortable height to type on it. There's a big red 'power' button on it. It's stuck to the floor.
Wolfman shrugs, then hits the power button.
Metal Man (GM): It turns on. A hologram of Metal appears on it.
Metal Man Hologram: "This is the Holo-database. What knowledge can I bring up for you?"
Wolfman is a little shocked, but soon gets over it. "Just catch me up on a few things."
Metal Man Hologram: "Okay, let's see..." *blinks a bit, then starts looking through a large virtual file cabinet.*
Wolfman is a little rusted in memory.
Metal Man Hologram: "Hmmm... based upon your memory database and last logs... Smithy appeared on Nintendus. Exor smashed into Toad Town 3. Machine Mades invaded and destroyed many places." *Sound effects of explosions and fighting.* "The Questers, once again, saved the day... under the leadership of me!"
Wolfman: "Okay, that's enough backstory. Can you please guide me to where the Holo room is? I need to work on my skills again."
Metal Man Hologram: *Short movie of Questers defeating Smithy.* "Let's see... Navigation system online. Follow the red arrows!"
Metal Man (GM): Red arrows are superimposed in the floor by holographic technology.*
Wolfman: "Thank you."
Metal Man (GM): They lead outside the office and into a hallway.
Wolfman puts on his badges that he bought, and then follows the arrows out into the hallway.
Metal Man Hologram: "Sure. Anytime." *ZOOMP* The hologram disappears, leaving you with the arrows.
Wolfman continues to follow the arrows, while keeping a look out for... well, anything.
Metal Man (GM): The arrows lead down some stairs, into R&R. The TV is now flat, the man eating couch is inside a glass case, and there's a red couch, empty, facing the TV. There's another hallway, which it leads into. This area is silvery, and has many sliding doors.
Wolfman walks down to the R&R and notices the guy watching the TV. He decides to pass him by for the time being... for all he knows, it's an important show.
Wolfman goes to the silvery hallway with the sliding doors.
Metal Man (GM): 'HOLO ROOM 1' is written on the door the last arrow points at.
Wolfman knocks on Holo Room 1's door.
Metal Man (GM): The door opens. It's empty, sans yet another round console, this one able to retract into the floor. It's got another red button for power.
Wolfman: "What is it with these power cylinders anyway? Am I just noticing them now?" *hits the new power button.*
Metal Man (GM): It lights up, and soft rainbow lights move through the floor and ceiling like a disco ball effect.
Wolfman gets a look around as the lights move in a chaotic pattern... if such a pattern exists.
Metal Man (GM): On this one, Oak appears.
Oak: "Hello. This is Holo room 1. What virtual reality are you interested in?"
Wolfman: "Is basic training available Professor?"
Oak: "Basic training accessed. Configuring algorithms. Approximate level synthesized. Basic training is ready to go. Ready to start?"
Wolfman: "Yes." *is a little nervous, he'll admit to himself.*
Metal Man (GM): *FLASH* Wolfman is now in a green field. A little box appears at the top of his vision.
Box: "Welcome to Basic Training 101."
Wolfman nods his head as if thanking the box.
Box: "First Skill: Battle Mode."
Metal Man (GM): In two small flashes, two goombas appear.
Box: "Fighters are arranged in order by their speed. Order: Wolfman, goomba 1, Goomba 2. It is your turn. You may use any attack against the goombas, one goomba, or none of them if you desire."
Wolfman remembers his old lessons with Mario; when it doubt, jump on it. He goes to the left-most goomba, leaps, and attempts to land on it.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf barely hit the slow moving Goomba.
Box: "You hit its weak spot! 10% damage. Goomba HP is at 10/30%. It can only take 20% more damage. You may attack the same Goomba again and again until you miss."
Wolfman decides to land on the ground safely and punch its lights out.
Metal Man (GM): *HIT.* *SMACK.*
Box: "Goomba 1 has been defeated. You may continue to attack, this time, at Goomba 2, until you kill it or miss. In a battle with more than 3 enemies, you cannot kill more than 2 enemies in one barrage of attacks."
Wolfman decides to get a little fancy... he takes out his beam saber and attempts a dance with it... a dance of death.
Box: "Combo is broken. Your move has missed or failed. In this case, you cannot do any slashes, which ends your turn. Goomba 2's turn."
Wolfman somehow missteps... he recovers, but doesn't attack any more.
Box: "Goomba 2 uses Head-bonk."
Wolfman rolls backwards to avoid it.
Box: "Goomba 2 has missed horribly. Counter attack possible."
Wolfman rolls backwards and avoids the HeadBonk.
Box: "You may counter-attack the Goomba."
Wolfman gets his saber out and tries again with the dance.
Metal Man (GM): *HIT.*
Box: "Goomba HP: 11/30%. You may continue attacking."
Wolfman stops the dance and goes for a sweeping kick for the finish.
Metal Man (GM): *HIT.*
Wolfman thinks he creamed the goomba.
Metal Man (GM): Goomba: Defeated. Wolf gains a little experience.
Wolfman nods in silence... he's got a while to go to catch up.
Box: "Now for a trickier enemy."
Wolfman: "I hope this guy is trickier."
Metal Man (GM): A white sheet appears, then moves down, rendering in-depth a particular person... It ends, showing none other than...
Wolfman tries to follow the sheet's pattern.
Metal Man (GM): Well, it's hard to follow, the rough outline is of a human. *ZAP* The pattern ends, revealing Sigma. A hologram, of course.
Box: "This enemy, according to your records, is 100 times trickier than a Goomba."
Metal Man (GM): Sigma whips out the green light-saber silently.
Wolfman: .oO(at least you didn't bring out Omega.) *equips his Beam Saber.* *looks to the Box to see who would generally go first in this type of encounter.*
Box: "Please wait a moment while statistics are calculated. Statistics complete. Order: Wolfman, Sigma. Make your first attack."
Wolfman: .oO(took you long enough.) *goes again for his Swords Dance against an enemy from before his time.*
Metal Man (GM): One hit. Wolf slashes Sigma once, but the other slash is blocked by the saber.
Sigma: "Take this, Maverick hunter!"
Wolfman gets his second attack blocked... and prepares for the worst.
Metal Man (GM): Sigma slashes at Wolfman.
Wolfman attempts to sidestep to the left.
Metal Man (GM): He misses. Terribly.
Wolfman backs up a little bit and charges his X Buster. "Come and get me if you can."
Metal Man (GM): Wolf's buster is fully charged.
Wolfman lets loose his buster shot on Sigma.
Metal Man (GM): Wolfman, unfortunately, misses. Sigma sidesteps the shot.
Wolfman: *figures I'm still rusty.*
Sigma: "You will have to try harder to injure me, the lord of all Mavericks!" *He throws a cloud of electricity at Wolfman.*
Metal Man (GM): Ouch. All hit.
Wolfman gulps... how does he avoid this?!?
Metal Man (GM): Wolf is unable to avoid it, and takes damage.
Wolfman tries to avoid... but is unsuccessful.
Metal Man (GM): Sigma continues by slashing at you with that saber. Ouch. More damage.
Wolfman gets even more angry for that retro-active punch.
Metal Man (GM): He then tries to bash you from two different sides at once using some tricky saber maneuvers. The dice, they hate Wolf! Sigma then ends his turn, by putting up a mini-shield.
Wolfman angrily punches him.
Metal Man (GM): *Punch.* Wolfman socks him.
Wolfman then gets his sword out for some more dancing against him.
Metal Man (GM): All three hit.
Wolfman: "Had enough? Guess not."
Sigma: "I will never surrender to the likes of you!"
Wolfman backs up a little bit, but curls in. He glows a little bit, and then expands himself, arms and legs spread out. He calls upon a strong force that can hopefully vanquish this foe. "WOLF CRUSH!"
Metal Man (GM): Hit! *Wolf Crush's meter goes down to 0.* Sigma is obliterated, and... well, Wolf burns a lot of grass too.
Box: "Sigma: Annihilated."
Wolfman breathes heavily. "That... wasn't... as bad... as Omega..."
Box: "54% damage overkill."
Metal Man (GM): Wolfman gains more experience.
Box: "Combat mode mastered."
Wolfman: "Thank you Box."
Box: "New mode: Outside combat/Movement."
Metal Man (GM): A platform appears, floating in the air.
Wolfman sees the newly-appeared platform.
Box: "Use a jump move or regular jump based move to jump to the platform."
Wolfman walks towards the platform, and then jumps on it... or at least, attempts to.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf gets on to the platform.
Wolfman lands safely.
Box: "Part II: Intelligence matters."
Metal Man (GM): A bunch of buttons and switches appear on a console.
Box: "Use your intelligence to find the button that makes the next challenge appear."
Wolfman REALLY wishes that he had the working intelligence chip installed... he goes for the... hopefully proper button.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf presses a bright red button. Shiiiney...
Wolfman presses the bright red button.
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM.* Well. Wolf is killed, but inside the holo room, it doesn't matter. It just says Wolf has 0% HP and is down one life without any real pain.
Wolfman shakes the cobwebs out of his head. *shakes.* "OK Box, please say I do NOT have to try that again."
Box: "Just one more time... though you won't die, since that button is broken."
Wolfman: "I'm holding you to that." *goes back to the button area...*
Wolfman jumps on the button platform and lands safely. He hopes his intelligence works RIGHT this time... he goes for the... left-most button.
Metal Man (GM): *CRIT* Wolfman presses the button, revealing the final challenge... There's a craaazy racetrack. Two lanes. Metal Sonic (Sonic CD version) is on one lane, and the other lane is Wolf's.
Wolfman goes into the second lane... the one that doesn't have the robotic hedgehog.
Box: "Final Challenge: Speed Race! This will test all previous skills as well; so don't be surprised if you have to fight, jump, and think."
Wolfman: "Just start the thing already."
Metal Man (GM): *A gun goes off. Time to race!*
Wolfman runs off.
Metal Man (GM): Metal sonic blasts off. He has a -slight- lead. Wolf approaches a loop-de-loop.
Wolfman notices Metal Sonic just ahead of him. He decides to jump through the thing, thinking it would be easier.
Metal Man (GM): It works. Wolf jumps through... And Metal Sonic still manages to get ahead of him!
Wolfman attempts to shoot Metal Sonic with an uncharged X-Buster shot. And is way offside.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf misses, inciting a counter-attack. Metal Sonic shoots a blob of electricity. BZAP! There's a straightaway.
Wolfman: "Blasted Metal Sonic..."
Metal Man (GM): Well, Wolf is gaining on him... he now only has a 5 feet lead. Now, for intelligence! Not. There's three paths. One of them goes down towards the ground, another into the air, and a third one seems normal... might be a trap. Pick one.
Wolfman goes towards the ground.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf goes to the ground one. Metal sonic goes to... The regular one, which explodes. He loses his lead. The two racers are tied now. The last obstacle is a brick wall they have to smash out of the way.
Wolfman hopes to get through this brick wall better than the metal menace.
Metal Man (GM): Wow. Absolute tie. Both knock through... and tie.
Box: "You have tied."
Metal Man (GM): Wolfman gains some experience.
Box: "That ends the training simulation."
Wolfman catches his breath again. "I can't... believe... that I... tied him..."
Box: "Thank you for using the basic training module."
Metal Man (GM): The hologram fades, and the machine turns off. You are perfectly healed.
Wolfman: "Not a problem." *breath regained.* *feels his joints are better, and goes relax in R&R for a little bit. He sees a couch, and decides to sit on it and watch TV.*
Metal Man (GM): Well, the TV is sorta interesting. It also has a live feed of a battle going on at... 'Magellean Tower.' It shows... Robotnik declaring war on the Magellean empire, and then a vast army of machines fighting... another vast army of machines.
Wolfman: "What the... what is going on? Who is the Magellean empire?"
Metal Man (GM): There is another holographic database cylinder next to the couch. It is off.
Wolfman turns away from the TV and sees the cylinder... he hits the on button.
Metal Man Hologram: "This is the Quester information database. How can I help you?"
Wolfman: "Who is the Magellean empire?"
Metal Man Hologram: "Charles L. Magellean, aka Locos S Docos. He has an empire built off of the ruined bits of Smithy's armies. He is allied with the Questers."
Wolfman: "Is there any way to call some sort of meeting with the other Questers? I think they are in trouble."
Metal Man Hologram: "The Questers are currently on another planet, and their dexes are out of range."
Wolfman: "What is the fastest way for me to get there and help out the Magellean empire?"
Metal Man Hologram: "There is the CACs, the MTAs, and the Warp Room."
Wolfman: "...Guide me to the CAC's right away."
Metal Man Hologram: "...Oooookay." *He disappears again, with an arrow leading to the underground garage.*
Wolfman hurries towards the arrows and the underground garage, hoping his idea will work... come in with guns blazing.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf gets to the garage. It's a strange sight.
Wolfman gets a look at the... strange place that is the garage.
Metal Man (GM): There's about 10 humanoid mecha things, a black CAC, and... well... a really old looking CAC. That is, it's rusty and dusty and hasn't been used for years.
Wolfman doesn't have time to clean; he hops in the black CAC, gets strapped in, and gets ready for takeoff.
Metal Man (GM): There's a sign over the black one. 'Property of Metal.' Yet Wolf manages to get in anyway. What a weird CAC it is... It's some sort of sports car, and the entire interior has black leather in it.
Wolfman doesn't see the sign.
Metal Man (GM): There are no keys, Wolf can just start it up...
Wolfman gets strapped in, and tells the computer to quickly take him to the site of the Magellean/Robotnik battle.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf takes off. It's faster than normal. The computer boots up. Weird... it's a hologram of Wolfman! There must be holograms of staff everywhere around HQ...
Wolfman: "...This is odd. Metal must have left the CAC unlocked."
Wolfman Hologram: "What destination are you heading towards?"
Wolfman: "The site of the Magellean/Robotnik battle that was shown on the television. I'm going to lend Magellean a hand." .oO(What is with all of these holograms anyway?)
Wolfman Hologram: "Okay..." The navigation systems show a map, and the CAC automatically morphs into the arwing-type thing... though it's sleeker, faster, and shinier. "Well, when Metal took command, he implemented several common courtesy holograms to make otherwise complex systems easy to use."
Wolfman: "I appreciate it."
Wolfman Hologram: "Any and all staff members... besides Klumsy... have been used as holograms."
Wolfman: *makes a mental note about Klumsy, and puts it aside for later.*
Wolfman Hologram: "Klumsy is a bit of a mystery, since all his data is locked tight inside the ruins of the Holo Tomb..."
Wolfman: "I'll worry about Klumsy later. Right now let's haul some tail. Full speed ahead!"
Wolfman Hologram: "Aye aye... me."
Metal Man (GM): The CAC speeds up quite a bit. You can now see the outlines of a tower and several ships firing at it...
Wolfman: "Me, can you highlight who are on Robotnik's side and who are on Magellean's side?"
Wolfman Hologram: "Alright." Red outlines appear o nthe ships, and blue outlines go over the Magellan stuff. "There are 15 ships, 0 of them have noticed us."
Wolfman: "What are the weapons on this thing again?"
Wolfman Hologram: "Basic weaponry: Dual Arwing Laser. Advanced weaponry: Laser Turret, Spread Missiles (5 of 5 ammo slots loaded)."
Wolfman: *likes the sound of the Spread Missiles...* "Computer, launch a Spread Missile at the densest pack of Robotnik's ships." (aka, the ones closest together)
Wolfman Hologram: "Target locked... Fox 1! FIRE!"
Metal Man (GM): Fifteen missiles hit a ship. The explosion engulfs two other ships. One ship of 15: Down. Two ships: At 15% power. Ammo for Missiles: 4/5. The ships turn to Wolfman. An Eggrobo appears on the comms screen.
Eggrobo: "Cease and Desist, before you are destroyed. We do not tolerate insolence."
Wolfman: "You first. Well, tolerate it."
Metal Man (GM): The ships open fire on the CAC.
Wolfman: "Computer, evasive maneuvers NOW!"
Metal Man (GM): The CAC moves quickly, but it is hit eight times. Shields are at: 60%.
Wolfman: "Computer, try the Arwing Laser on the nearest ship to us."
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* One of the ships Wolfman damaged is hit and crumbles.
Wolfman goes for the next nearest ship with the lasers again.
Metal Man (GM): Double miss. The ships continue firing at Wolf with red lasers. 5 hits. Shields at 35%.
Wolfman: "Computer, are there any self repair systems I should be aware of?"
Wolfman Hologram: "Sorry... CACs are not equipped with that."
Wolfman: "Then fire the turret at all of them!"
Metal Man (GM): 4 more go down, but the rest are missed. They start retreating.
Eggrobo: "We have been given other orders, so we will spare you for now."
Wolfman breathes a sigh of relief. He watches them leave, saying nothing. He tries to find the leader of the resistance group he helped and sets down the CAC right by him.
Metal Man (GM): The tower then hails Wolfman.
Smithy: "Hello. Who are you, and why did you help us?"
Wolfman: "I am Wolfman. I was watching the TV when I noticed some trouble. I didn't have much better to do... other than pay the bills."
Smithy: "Ahhhh... Locos told me about you. Well, you can always land here."
Metal Man (GM): The computer shows a landing pad on the side of the tower.
Wolfman: "Thank you Sir." *goes to the landing pad and sets down, grateful the dogfight is over. He gets out of the CAC and stretches again.*
Metal Man (GM): A bunch of koopas come out to greet Wolfman. Especially a high ranked one.
Wolfman notices the koopas coming to meet him.
Metal Man (GM): He wears a red cape.
Ricky: "Hello, Wolfman. I am Locos's assistant."
Wolfman: "Pleasure to meet you."
Ricky: "What business do you have in mind for today?"
Wolfman: "It was either help you guys out or pay the bills, and I've done enough of that. What exactly is at this tower anyway?"
Ricky: "Charles Magellean's 7 armies reside here, as well as... The secret island project is coordinated here. Oh, Bowser and Smithy ae currently in charge while Locos is out on vacation."
Wolfman: "I'll pretend I didn't hear all of that. Bowser, though... I've been against him in the past. Since when did he reform?"
Ricky: "Since he was bested by... the Quester Hunters!"
Wolfman: "I take it the Quester Hunters are who our main enemies are then?"
Wolfman: "Is there anything more I can do to help? I don't think I saw anyone after I had some training."
Ricky: "Well... you could give us access to the melee moves via the fighter remote. They're kind of out of date, but with them, our armies could crush those inexperienced robots! Then there's the move giver... that could be useful."
Wolfman: "The Fighter Remote? Is it the only way?"
Ricky: "You just need to hook it up to our database."
Wolfman: "Hmm... I don't see the harm in that. Take me to the database please."
Metal Man (GM): Ricky nods, and leads Wolfman to a huge computer.
Wolfman gets a good look at the computer. He gets the fighter remote out and attempts to plug in into... well, what IS the usb equivalent here anyway?
Locos Docos (GM): It has so many keys, there's even an "Any key" button.
Metal Man (GM): It has some cables. One weird one that corresponds to the fighter remote. Yup. A 'USB' port to plug the remote into.
Wolfman sees many cables... one of them looks funny. Figuring nothing bad will happen, he plugs the remote into the funny weird one.
Metal Man (GM): Wolfman sticks it in. The computer chirps, and he sees a 'downloading information' screen.
Wolfman waits for the downloading to be completed.
Metal Man (GM): The download completes.
Ricky: "Thank you for the information. It will be useful."
Wolfman: "I hope that helps your troops out." *gets the Fighter Remote back.*
Metal Man (GM): Bowser walks down into the room, then does a double-check.
Bowser: "Wha? Wolfman?"
Wolfman turns to the voice.
Bowser: "WHAAAAA? FIGHTER REMOTE DOWNLOADED????"
Bowser: "...And after all this time I tried to steal the remote... you just gave me all the data? Yes. It's me, Bowser, bub."
Wolfman: "You never needed the remote... you had that power necklace."
Bowser: "...But then those Quester Hunters stole it from me. ...But thanks anyway."
Wolfman: "So call us on the same side right now. However, understand that I still don't fully trust you."
Bowser: "The lack of trust is mutual."
Wolfman: "Anyway, the moves are in. Is there any more business I need to attend to?"
Bowser: .oO(I hope he doesn't morph into VG and start shooting Falcon Punch at me!)
Ricky: "Nope. That's all we need for now."
Wolfman: .oO(I hope Bowser isn't lying and would try to Bowser Bomb me into the next millennium.) "Then I'll be off. Good day to you all."
Ricky: "We'll be busy trying to implement these moves... Locos will be most pleased."
Metal Man (GM): Ricky nods.
Wolfman turns around and heads back into the black CAC.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf gets in to the CAC. Shields have regenerated.
Wolfman straps himself in, then checks the shields. "I thought you said there were no self repair facilities on this vehicle Computer. It doesn't matter... let's get back to HQ."
Wolfman Hologram: "Aye."
Metal Man (GM): And so, Wolf flies back to HQ. He gets some experience, and this ends the mini-mission with Wolfman in it.
