Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 159: Splinters of Unreality
Date: 5:31:35 PM, March 4th; 7:29:14 PM, March 4th; 11:29:29 AM, March 5th, 2005.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Right..."
Metal Man (GM): He points to a large space shuttle on a runway.
Garrick Fy`aar is already off and heading for it.
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Just press the 'launch' button."
Digifanatic starts walking towards the shuttle.
Charles Magellean walks into there.
Metal Man follows. "This will be fun."
Digifanatic: "Should be."
Metal Man (GM): Everybody gets aboard the shuttle. There's a whopping 50 seats here... 2 by 25.
Garrick Fy`aar just reaches forward and presses the 'launch' button.
Digifanatic: "This is gonna be weird being on Earth without all my old friends and family."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Same here..."
Metal Man: "Technically these people are before my time." *He takes a seat.*
Digifanatic: "Really?"
Computer: "Please press 'Launch' to begin."
Garrick Fy`aar just reaches forward and presses the 'launch' button.
Digifanatic sits down and relaxes for now.
Computer: "Launch codes accepted. 3... 2... 1... LAUNCH."
Metal Man (GM): The shuttle jets down the runway. Soon, it takes off... into space ..You're now heading towards Earth.
Digifanatic examines his new Super Dex. "Garrick, what kind of upgrades are in this thing?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...you know, you'd think I'd be used to space travel by now."
Charles Magellean looks out the window. Unusually silent.
Metal Man (GM): The Super Dex is only in Metal's hands... you have Garrick's dex.
Shuttle: "All systems are operational."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The Dex Mark Five has many features. It has a link to the Stadium for information, a moonpearl for dark world access, and a holographic projector for messages. It also has a few special features."
Digifanatic: "Nice."
Garrick Fy`aar: "First, the earpiece is completely silent except to you. It can't be detected by x-rays or scan or anything of the like. All the sound it produces can only be heard by you."
Metal Man plays with his super dex. He grates some cheese with it.
Digifanatic: "Wow, cool."
Charles Magellean: "It's a shame that all contact to the stadium other than from the moonbase is out of range."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The voice patch is the same. It can't be detected and it will read anything you say, even if you barely mumble."
Metal Man: "Cheese graters... perfect for having some grated cheese before a mission."
Digifanatic: "And what about the thoughts we have that we don't verbally expose?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "It can recloak back to the digital watch form for undercover missions. Just say 'Dex, Cloak.' It can't read minds, sorry."
Digifanatic: "Ah. You don't have to apologize."
Metal Man: "In comparison, the Super Dex has a different approach." *He continues playing with it, waiting for Garrick to be done.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "But it does has a rotating scanning frequency. Makes it harder for monsters to trigger hidden Dex traps if they're scanned. Close to impossible, unless they're scanned by just the right frequency."
Digifanatic: "Like if they mutate or something upon being scanned?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, like the triggers that Overkill thing had."
Digifanatic: "Ah. I guess that answers my questions for now. Thanks a lot, man."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Not done yet."
Charles Magellean: "Actually, the force field that the Overkill had was turned on when the hammer brother overheard it's talking."
Digifanatic: "Oh. Do continue then, Garrick."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The CRS is the contacts you put in. With a scan command through the throat patch, all the information you usually hear through the Dex is transferred to your contacts. Makes it a lot easier during battle. The contacts also have various eye forms, but those come separate. Telescopic vision, thermal vision, or night vision. Finally, my final and best piece, in my opinion."
Digifanatic: "Ah. So, basically, when we receive information from scanning, we can see it and hear it, then?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yes. And finally, the Null Space Sheath."
Digifanatic: "Sweet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The Dexes are tuned into a very small pocket of null space that you can store equipment, weapons, and armor in. Just tell the Dex you want to store or retrieve something and it will materialize it for you. Straight to the hand, for instant use. Oh, and the reason I wanted to use them, a translation matrix."
Digifanatic: "Oh... does that count towards standard inventory or is it like a reserve thing?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "We get these new humans to talk a bit, it'll recognize and decode the language and translate it for us, and it will translate what we say to their language. Oh, it's reserve. You can keep items on you, but the Null Space Sheath is easier."
Digifanatic: "Wow, man."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It took me a lot of coins from Ari and a lot of time and a LOT of help from Nova to make this."
Digifanatic: "Tell them I appreciate it very much."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Right." *He looks to Metal, a smug smile on his face* "You were saying?"
Digifanatic: "But as for the Sheath, we'd have to use up like, two actions to get the item to form and then to use it?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Single action, and scanning doesn't take any actions."
Charles Magellean: "Say whatever you want. Lunarian language and script cannot be translated or interpreted except by other Lunarians."
Digifanatic: "Excellent job, Garrick."
Metal Man: "Well, your dex is good, but different. This one is an exponentially more powerful version of the old... so it improves on all the old things. This machine scans enemies using magic instead of technology. Thus, it cannot be countered. The magic was created to be unblockable."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Didn't think Oak could harness magic."
Metal Man: "Nah... it was a group effort. You know, since we've got Zelda. Then there's the voice translator. Before, you had to turn it on and tell it stuff to make it work."
Charles Magellean: "Interpreter."
Metal Man: "Now, it automatically corrects grammar errors and translates everything into your own language."
Digifanatic: "Oh, wow."
Metal Man: "Of course, the language modules for some civilizations have to be bought."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Rip off."
Metal Man: "It does the same for your own speech, and can even change what you sound like!" *Starts talking like a British person.*
Digifanatic: "And if we needed to speak in their language, we just say, 'Dex' and insert the name of the language?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "All languages have the same base of system. The right decoding and recoding can be done for any language, even the ones on Nintendus."
Metal Man: "Now then, guvnor, the real petrol for this lorry is the dark world protection bonnet! ..." *Turns that off.*
Digifanatic laughs at Metal's talking... non-insultingly, of course.
Metal Man: "...Anyway, moon pearls can only do so much. When faced with the Dark World, this machine can instantly warp you to the light world. Like a half of a magic mirror."
Digifanatic: "Whoa..."
Metal Man: "It's also perfectly legal, unlike the dubious magic mirror. Let's see... oh, yeah. You can scan enemies more than once. The first is for the boring old statistics readout."
Digifanatic: "Speaking of, I wonder why Locos is so quiet..."
Metal Man: "The second grants you a comprehensive tip guide!"
Digifanatic: "Something wrong, Charles?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...tip guide?"
Metal Man: "Of course, it takes twice as long to do. Yes... like a strategy guide."
Digifanatic: "Like exploiting weaknesses and stuff?"
Metal Man: "Yes."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...hmmmmm... remind me to talk to Oak when I get back to the stadium."
Metal Man: "Now then, it also has a built-in library of names... much simpler than the Stadium database, but gives basic identification for a billion different things!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Maybe we could combine our efforts... make one new powerful Dex instead of two separate ones."
Metal Man: "Nah. Competition is better. After all, some people want different things."
Digifanatic: "True."
Metal Man: "Now then, to round out the list of features is some of the classics."
Digifanatic: "I'm fine the way I am... as long as I feel content, it's all that matters for me."
Metal Man: "It can link up with the teleporters in the Stadium to warp you out in emergencies. It can also pick locks, play music, and grate cheese!"
Digifanatic: "Heh..."
Metal Man: "...And then one more thing. It can obscure your identity with a holographic projection... but you have to be intelligent to do it well!" *He presses a button.*
Digifanatic: "So apparently, my Digiport is practically outdated unless we can't bail out at the situation at hand..."
Metal Man morphs into Aribar.
Digifanatic: "Whoa, cool!"
Metal Man: "Wow. That's amazing! It even looks like I'm missing an arm..." *He picks up the dex with the missing arm, and it appears to float.*
Digifanatic: "Does this mean you can use his attacks, though?"
Metal Man: "Nope... It'll only make it appear I'm using his attacks. But people will still take ice damage and stuff."
Digifanatic: "Ooh, element of surprise. Never know what's really coming."
Metal Man: "Oh, yeah. Along with that, you can buy modules to increase its functionality. Though it all costs cash."
Digifanatic: "Like the various translators and stuff?"
Metal Man: "Yeah. The money goes to the stadium, so it's just like any other item... oh, finally... It takes up 1 Badge point." *He deactivates the hologram.*
Computer: "We are reaching Earth's outer atmosphere."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... can we still use a standard Dex without using up that BP?"
Garrick Fy`aar frowns.
Digifanatic: "Just, you know, without all the new features and stuff?"
Metal Man: "Everyone starts out with the standard dex."
Digifanatic: "And then they can buy this one?"
Metal Man: "Either one, if Garrick decides to market his."
Digifanatic: "Oh."
Metal Man: "All I know is that he only has a few test models... past that, it'll start costing money."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't even know if I want to make more."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... Dex, deactivate Quake Smash so I can incorporate this for now."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It seems Oak has the Dex thing in check. Mine is meant for battle. It's styled like my equipment from my Earth."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, I'll probably wait until I get some more BP to have everything available."
Garrick Fy`aar: "With the new technology and all. If you want to use mine, I'll make you one, but it seems Oak has it in check. Quester brand equipment is better than custom stuff from me."
Computer: "We are entering the atmosphere."
Digifanatic: "Eh... how much?"
Metal Man (GM): You begin to see the surface of Earth. Barren, dry and lifeless desert... your destination is a landing pad atop a large city. You can see an ancient looking statue... the statue of liberty down there.
Editor's Note: Oh my god! You monsters, you blew it all to hell! .... ....Is this the planet of the Apes?
Digifanatic: "Holy crap... it's still there after all these years?"
Metal Man (GM): One of the smaller buildings is obviously the Empire State Building.
Garrick Fy`aar looks out at it. He's too stunned for words... "...dear god..."
Metal Man (GM): They both look old and have some scaffolding, but are still there.
Digifanatic: "New York City is still hanging around?"
Metal Man: "...This New York City seems to be the only city left."
Metal Man (GM): The only other landmarks you can see are the Pyramids... a bit far off. They seem untouched and old... they blend in with the sand.
Charles Magellean: "I don't know what's happened, but I will make sure that the Earthers are avenged for this."
Digifanatic: "This Earth is a lot different."
Metal Man (GM): It finally lands. Nobody seems to be paying attention to the ship... there's a series of stairs. There's a sign directly outside.
Digifanatic: "Well, might as well get out."
Charles Magellean goes out.
Garrick Fy`aar heads out of the ship, glancing around.
Metal Man (GM): 'Welcome to Neo-Earth. City of Savoria.' It's a holographic sign. It soon fades into some advertisements and stuff.
Charles Magellean: "Metal... is this a city of your time?"
Digifanatic: (to Garrick) "So, I assume I have to pay for the new Dex..."
Metal Man (GM): You're atop a huge platform that floats above the rest of the city.
Garrick Fy`aar: "You'll give it back."
Metal Man: "Savoria? That was the oldest city on record..."
Digifanatic takes a wide look around.
Garrick Fy`aar: "That's only a test form. It's good for about... a week, before it dies out."
Metal Man: "It only barely survived. Even then, its people had become blended into our world."
Digifanatic: "Oh."
Super Dex: "This world is in transition. A new country has arisen from the ashes... and is rebuilding."
Digifanatic: "Ashes of what?"
Charles Magellean stops overtop the edge. He puts one foot on top of the ledge and starts scratches his beard.
Super Dex: "The old Earth civilization."
Digifanatic: "Oh..."
Metal Man: "It's amazing... I'm in the past."
Charles Magellean: "This is not possible..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...let's... let's keep moving."
Metal Man (GM): The city is much like New York, except for holo freeways, hovercars, and such.
Editor's Note: Yeah, because the real one certainly has none of those, I can say that for a fact.
Charles Magellean: "A paradox is beginning to arise in this place."
Editor's Note: Yeah, this place shouldn't exist.
Garrick Fy`aar keeps walking.
Digifanatic: "What would that be?"
Charles Magellean heads for the rooftop staircase.
Metal Man (GM): Down you go, becoming closer to the city.
Garrick Fy`aar: "We need to find City Hall, or something."
Charles Magellean: "Something is very... very... wrong."
Metal Man (GM): As you go down, you reach the top story of the city. A large platform allows you to walk between the 8 buildings which go up this far. Holographic signs greet you.
Garrick Fy`aar looks for a person...
Metal Man (GM): There's a man in a blue coat walking around. This area is somewhat deserted. There isn't much going on up here.
Garrick Fy`aar walks up to him, guessing he must be a cop...
Charles Magellean: "I've read your logs Metal... and Savoria is to be at least...2,000 years after I leave Lunarian space."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Excuse me."
Charles Magellean: "Even then... this quantum universe isn't supposed to even have parts of Neo-Earth on it. ...Perhaps another quantum fissure has... eroded."
Metal Man: "It may be caused by our simultaneous existence."
Man: "Yes?"
Charles Magellean shakes his head.
Man: "We haven't had visitors since the Second Moon exploded."
Charles Magellean: "No... something has tam--..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Is the New York Public Library still around?"
Man: "New... York? I only know of a Ewor."
Charles Magellean: "...Someone or something has tampered space and existence."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Ew... or?"
Man: "The last city left from the great destruction. It sounds familiar. Let me see."
Metal Man (GM): The man pulls out a wristband thing. He taps it, and a sign that says 'Welcome to ew or.' appears. It's a green highway sign, with missing letters.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...right."
Charles Magellean: "Tell me... which moon has exploded? Earth's moon or the Lunarian homeworld?"
Man: "The city was abandoned. Only a few people in bunkers were found when the remains of the United World came here... the Great Evil had taken out a lot when they died. ...The moon of here! ...I forgot... Your moon... has simply been silent."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...you a cop?"
Man: "A... cot? No sir, I am not a bed."
Charles Magellean: "Metal... was your moon destroyed during the time of Saforia?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "A police officer, then."
Metal Man: "The moon was destroyed before the logging of history began."
Man: "We have a police, but they are not officers. The computer is our police officer."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...right. Then I'll ask you one last question."
Man: "It was discovered deep in the ruins... and saved us from dying out."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...please tell me there are diners around?"
Charles Magellean: "The worlds are... beginning to merge??"
Metal Man: "It seems like we've brought together those worlds, yes."
Man: "Yes, we have food establishments."
Charles Magellean: "...But it doesn't explain the time frame."
Man: "Though your primitive Worldian is strange."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...point me toward one."
Man: "It is the year 10 After Destruction. Follow me."
Metal Man (GM): The man starts walking down stairs.
Garrick Fy`aar motions to Metal and Locos.
Metal Man nods and follows.
Charles Magellean follows.
Metal Man (GM): He goes down the stairs quickly... the activity grows as he goes down.
Garrick Fy`aar: "I ain't leaving this place till I get a piece of pie and a cup of coffee. New York pie and New York coffee, or at least the closest thing."
Metal Man (GM): Finally, he goes down to a level in which the top of the Empire State Building pokes through.
Man: "The Imperial Cafe. The best place in town."
Charles Magellean: "...Imperial?"
Man: "Imperial... named after the building."
Charles Magellean sighs of relief.
Man: "The ancient script on it said... 'Mperial something building.'"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Impire."
Man: "Not from Star Wars, no."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...whatever."
Man: "We've watched that ancient and primitive movie many times. It's sad they thought we'd take over the universe... we can barely exist here."
Metal Man (GM): Inside the cafe, he leads you to a private room.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...thanks for showing us this place."
Man: "I'll pay... I haven't seen time travelers before. We get the occasional time traveler. Something about balancing the universe."
Garrick Fy`aar suddenly laughs.
Man: "Their technology can't go any further back than 5 years ago. So, the amount of them increases every year."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy..."
Man: "Hitch... hiker?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's a book, never mind me."
Man: "Now then. what do you want?"
Metal Man (GM): A hologram menu pops up.
Charles Magellean: "Hmm..." *He sits down and crosses his legs.*
Metal Man (GM): There's... some large mutant fruit that has bizarre chocolate discs on it...
Garrick Fy`aar: "...do you have pie?"
Man: "Pie?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Pie."
Man: "Pi is 3.141 and such... We do not serve it here."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...*Grumble*..."
Man: "Numbers are not food."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...coffee?"
Metal Man (GM): There's also a fantastically strange concoction which bubbles in a cup... it's orange stuff with black spots.
Charles Magellean: "I would like the number 4 with a side of the ...'Kneucker'."
Man: "Coffee? Hmmmm... We have Gahu... it's black and full of flavor. It's not exactly coffee... but a related plant."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I'll have that."
Metal Man: "And I'll have a Rostvorian Overmelt!"
Man: "...How did he know what today's special would be?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "He's like that."
Charles Magellean: "...He's been around here before."
Metal Man: "...I kind of... come from the future, where that food is everywhere... you Savorians created it."
Metal Man (GM): *WARPWARPWARP* Food comes in.
Charles Magellean starts saying a prayer in his tongue and starts to casually eat it.
Garrick Fy`aar sips at the... gahu...
Metal Man (GM): Garrick gets a black liquid... looks like coffee, but smells like coffee mixed with pepper... and tastes kind of spicy.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...good enough. Don't suppose you have something that I can Irish this up, do you?"
Metal Man gets a bizarre stack of pancakes which have been covered in a thin green sauce and have sticks of glowing blue stuff off to the side. He begins eating it rather hungrily.
Man: "Irish? The only thing that has a name like that is our computer. It's name Irish Macneil."
Charles Magellean: "So then... can you say what this great evil?"
Man: "The great evil? It's simple. The government of powers created this machine named Avon. The machine took over their government and tried to destroy Earth."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Enough said."
Man: "Yes... we survived when they destroyed themselves."
Charles Magellean coughs some of his food... then look with great eyes.
Man: "Oh... I also heard something about these people called Questers... They apparently appeared in the past, you know."
Charles Magellean: "Oh don't tell me..."
Man: "Apparently, they have something to do with us."
Charles Magellean: "... 'Nintendus' is what some called this planet?"
Man: "We didn't name our planet after an electronic company!"
Garrick Fy`aar chuckles "You know, I always did wonder about that. Why the planet would be named after a video game company."
Gibby slides himself in.
Man: "Nintendo is, however, a large manufacturer of machinery."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, no harm in telling you. Those Quester people would be us."
Charles Magellean pounds his fist on the table. "None of this is right! How in the world could the monsters from the other dimension slip in FY-55!"
Man: "It's actually the fault of the Questers, mystery man."
Charles Magellean: "No... something else is at work."
Man: "You see, long ago, they made a hole to stop something called Slytock."
Charles Magellean: "That hole was created on another planet!"
Man: "Nope..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "For all we know, it wasn't. ...exactly."
Charles Magellean: "This is must definitely a problem..."
Man: "You see, we understand the basic principles of dimensional mutation."
Charles Magellean: "...and the fissure is causing the other Earths to just 'cease' to exist... and any left overs are being crawled into this one!"
Metal Man (GM): Well, pause on that. However, since it's a side salad sort of thing, you can participate normally in other missions.
Wolfman is in R&R, watching "Hylian Gladiators."
Metal Man: "Hi... oh... I have to... feed gold fish..."
VG: *Is with Wolfman.*
Spyke is in his room, tired from the Kappa battle. On his metal desk lies the Vayu Armor, expanded to its fullest size. He looks over it admiringly, sitting in the semi-parabolic metal chair of his. He is in his usual attire, blue jeans with a blue, sleeveless vest.
Charles Magellean to wherever the wolf and VG are.
VG: "Hi Locos."
Charles Magellean sings He's in the money. "You know... I gotta know... Are you betting the smart way?"
Spyke nods slowly to himself "Best piece of work I ever made... I just need to figure out how to work it better..." He stands slowly and begins to wander the halls, looking for people to talk to.
Wolfman: "I don't bet... you know that."
VG: "Silly Wolf... he's talking to me. If you mean... somewhat try to take over your style, then yes."
Charles Magellean flashes his LARGE sack of money.
VG: "...of course, I don't see you spending any of it."
Charles Magellean: "Don't you know the saying 'Ya gotta use money to earn money'?"
Spyke finds himself wherever Locos, Wolf, and Veegee are... "Hey, guys."
VG: "...I'm not familiar with it."
Charles Magellean: "Well, the more I use, the more money I earn! Hey Spyke."
Wolfman: "Hello... hang on; the best part is coming on."
Spyke: "Hey, all. What'cha guys speaking about?"
TV: *Octorock Jousting.*
Charles Magellean: "It makes sense... you see when I first started betting, I had little money... and had no idea what I was doing."
VG: "I'm trying to learn some techniques about money. ...the hard part, though, will be NOT SPENDING any of it!"
Spyke: "Umm... spend wisely?"
Charles Magellean: "Then... I began to use my mathematical skills to weigh the odds, and carefully place in the bets that will try to help me get the max amount of money, and still make a profit. You can spend, just that you have to be gracious with it."
VG: "I noted that technique of yours when you bet strangely during that 4-way melee."
Spyke: "Wait... odds and betting? We can bet? On what?"
Wolfman: "It's some new thing that I don't like..."
Charles Magellean: "It's a good thing the stadium's rules for betting are very open."
Wolfman: "...basically, you can gamble your money away on the Stadium fights."
Charles Magellean: "I can teach you my technique at the next fight. So then..."
VG: "Locos, I did gamble the previous two times in case you didn't know."
Spyke: "... Great... Betting... Something I hope to never have to deal with... I am prejudiced the believe it attracts crime."
Wolfman: "I basically put in reduced versions of what you had."
Charles Magellean: "True. I'm trying to save up for a 'special' location."
VG: "Well, I'm more comfortable using items than I am directly fighting."
Charles Magellean: "You want some?"
VG: "...want some what?"
Spyke looks at Veegee and decides not to ask him a question, well aware of how Veegee is sensitive to the subject "SO... how is the weather?"
Charles Magellean: "Coinage."
VG: "...knowing you, you are too crazy not to have a catch."
Charles Magellean: "Did I have a catch when I sold you that Red Essence?"
VG: "...you didn't sell me a Red Essence."
Wolfman: "...but you did sell me one." *He turns off the TV.*
Charles Magellean: "...Right, it it was wolf."
Wolfman : *Did that.*
Charles Magellean: "Wolf, did I have a catch when I sold you the red?"
Wolfman: "Not to my recollection."
Charles Magellean: "Hmm... Well then... VG... you do seem a bit LOW on coinage..."
VG: "I wouldn't consider 16K to be that low... well, maybe compared to you."
Charles Magellean: "I can give you or Wolfman a little less than 1/10 of my wealth if you wanted."
Wolfman: "What do you want to buy from us Locos?"
Charles Magellean: "Absolutely nothing. I need to give some away. Need... bleh... I *Want* to."
VG & Wolfman: *Jaws drop.*
Charles Magellean: "Say... around 10,000 coins?"
VG & Wolfman: "DEAL!"
Charles Magellean: "Is that total or each?"
VG: "Hey, I need the coins more than you!"
Wolfman: "So? I'm your superior!" *both turn to Locos.*
VG & Wolfman: "Have any ideas?" *Both turn to each other.*
Charles Magellean: "So then... is it 10,000 total... or for the both of you?"
Wolfman: "How much do you plan on giving? We'll figure it out from there... somehow."
Spyke just sits idly by, watching this exchange of words continue.
Charles Magellean: "I'm willing to allow to give you 10,000 coins to split to the each of you. Or I can simply give you 10,000 coins each."
VG: "Whichever you are more willing to do, do it. If there is one thing you don't want to see for long, it's Wolfman and I argue."
Charles Magellean opens up a smaller bag... and pours into it 10,008 coins. "...I have an odd number of coins." *He flips the gold coin between Wolf and VG.*
VG: "Heads!"
Wolfman: "Tails!"
Charles Magellean: "One of you will have to get it. Hey Spyke... do you want some coinage as well, or you want to earn your share?"
Spyke: "I prefer to earn my share. I don't like hand rails."
Charles Magellean: "...Maybe I can buy something you don't need."
Wolfman: .oO(I earn money for the treasury. I'll take spending money)
VG: .oO(Money for items... bet money for more money and more items... etc)
Spyke: "Ummmm... Nothing you would probably want... Insanity Potion, Wind Cube, Maple Syrup... Yeah... Those are the only three I don't need..."
Charles Magellean: "Hmm... How much you want for the Insanity potion?"
Spyke: "Whatever you are willing to pay is fine... I got it for 800 coins..."
Wolfman (GM): Wolfman gains: 10008 coins! VG gains: bad temper! He gains: 5004 coins
Wolfman & VG: "Thanks Locos."
Charles Magellean bows. "I definitely know you want more than 400 coins... How about... ...700 coins?"
Spyke: "Sounds fine to me."
Charles Magellean: "...Or do you want to go for more?"
Spyke: "Your choice. I am never going to use it, so it will just be sitting around for nothing otherwise."
Charles Magellean: "Very well... I would've bought it for more." *He takes out the bag and pours 700 coins into it. He then gives Spyke the bag.* "By the way... the maple syrup will definitely benefit Aribar."
Spyke pulls out the insanity potion and passes it to Locos, taking the bag of coins. "Hope it helps you."
Charles Magellean: "Thank you."
Spyke: "And yeah... I figured as much... I just don't see him around enough to tell him about it."
Charles Magellean: "I can be a middle man if you want to give it to him."
Spyke: "Nah. I'll run into him at a good time eventually."
Charles Magellean: "K." *He goes offward elsewhere. He wonders where Illian is. The blond's gotta be around here somewhere.*
Digifanatic sells G&W his X Defend (+600 coins), Midshroom (+340), and his Haste Cube (+350).
Charles Magellean: "Hey Former Metal person! Where are ya??"
Metal Man is drinking some apple cider in R&R. "I'm right here. Sorry about that... I left a lit candle alone in my room."
Garrick Fy`aar is currently training with several of the weapons he made in the holo room.
Charles Magellean checked several rooms for several minutes. He greets him in the R&R. "Nice to see you're fine after yesterday's mess."
Metal Man: "Ah, yes."
Charles Magellean: "Say, have you been losing money in the bets?"
Azure sells shovel claws back to G&W (+240) then returns to his room to work on something.
Digifanatic heads into R&R. "Bets? No... only time I did, I lost and gave Yurie my Mega Rush. Thank goodness those things are cheap."
Metal Man: "Yes. Lots of it."
Charles Magellean: "Did you lose most of it in my fights?"
Digifanatic: "That's too bad man... just put an equal amount on all the fighters. It is legal... Even though I haven't though about it..."
Metal Man: "Yes."
Digifanatic: "Sides, I think I'm a bit young to try and start doing that kind of thing..."
Charles Magellean: "That's a shame. You could learn the art of net profit."
Digifanatic: "Indeed."
Charles Magellean sniffs...
Metal Man (GM): Whatever you're doing fails miserably.
Charles Magellean: "Pomegranate."
Metal Man: "Pomegranate?"
Charles Magellean: "Pomegranate! Hmmm... If I didn't know better... I'd say you wanted to get your money back."
Metal Man: "You wanna fight me?"
Garrick Fy`aar is currently switching different targets in the holoroom, trying out various weapons. Assault Rifles, shotguns, a makeshift flamethrower made with that fire flower he found, a long distance sniper rifle, a few different kinds of handguns.
Charles Magellean: "I'm not sure if it would be a fair fight. I mean after all... you did barely beat Mr. Hunter. And I had an easier, if not close, time."
Metal Man: "I could freeze you and then push you off the battlefield three times..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...hmm."
Digifanatic: "Heh."
Garrick Fy`aar warps those weapons into his Dex Mark Five's NPS and heads for Oak's lab. He walks inside and glances around for the good doctor "Doc?"
Charles Magellean: "Ah come on. You can't be that mad at me for losing your money, are you?"
Digifanatic: "Tell you what."
Metal Man: "No, I'm not. I'm just feigning to be tricked by your attempt to get me into fighting you."
Digifanatic: "I put 100 coins on each of you, and I'll give Metal my winnings. If he needs a bit of a rebound in a his bank, I'll be willing to help if need be."
Metal Man: "I don't need money. I'm relieved I got rid of that hoard I had earlier."
Digifanatic: "Oh, alright then."
Metal Man: "I could use those machineguns, though."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...doc?"
Professor Oak: "...Sorry. I was busy sequencing programing instructions. What is it?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I needed your input on something. Do you know anything about using Phazon to make weaponry?"
Charles Magellean: "Very well... very well. I'm not ready to increase my savings yet." *He heads to Oak's as well.*
Digifanatic: "So, Metal, what's with the machine guns? Impressed by Garrick's or something?"
Professor Oak: "...Phazon is highly radioactive and dangerous!"
Aribar yawns, waking up and begins to head to the holoroom... The elf has a notebook in his hand and a pencil in his mouth... He's trying, and failing, to jot something down in the book.
Professor Oak: "It is a fearsome weapon, but if you aren't shielded, you, too, will become a mutant."
Metal Man: "Well, Machineguns are just useful."
Aribar: .oO(Lets see... Yes, that'll kill some people... Oh! And that!)
Digifanatic: "Ah."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...then it will needed to be harnessed in some fashion..."
Professor Oak: "Why?"
Garrick Fy`aar goes into a deep thought, stroking his stubble.
Professor Oak: "It's... horribly dangerous. Even Samus refused to touch the stuff. Only after being coated in it was she able to survive the Phazon Mines. I think Locos was mining that stuff..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's nothing, I just had some spare Phazon left over contained in a strong container. Blocks the radiation. I had no use for it, thought I'd put it in a gun of some sort... ...how does it work as a power source?"
Professor Oak: "It is very powerful... but prone to explosions and radioactivity. Like a Nuclear Reactor. It requires a lot of equipment to use correctly."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Know where I can get some of this equipment?"
Charles Magellean: "Some of the former mining equipment is still on the planets."
Garrick Fy`aar glances to Locos as he walks in, pondering that.
Aribar reaches the holoroom and heads inside... He locks the door and goes over to the holoroom's control console... The elf begins pressing random buttons while laughing evilly...
Professor Oak: "I won't handle the stuff. Samus rightfully told us not to."
SIMBER: "What can I do for you, Aribar?"
Aribar: "Oh, I'm just going to create something evil to destroy the Questers... ...Or maybe... Hrm..."
SIMBER: "But the holo rooms are incapable of killing anyone."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...hmmmm."
Aribar: "...Well, holo-killing..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, I'll pick Nova's brain then. He'll know something, I'm sure."
Charles Magellean: "Doc's got a point. That crap, profitable as it may be, got's some really nasty side effects if it ain't properly handled."
Aribar: "Do you know where the 'Holoroom Controls For Morons' book is at?"
SIMBER: "It was checked out a year ago by Metal. He hasn't returned it..."
Editor's Note: That means Illian (the Metal Man who took over for Seasons 4-6 from Xavier) appeared while the Questers were comatose! SIMBER isn't even hiding that he can't possibly be Xavier!
Aribar: "...Piffle. Where's he at?"
Garrick Fy`aar lifts his wrist up and hits a few buttons on his Dex Mark 5, which he now wears all the time.
Editor's Note: God, no, don't remind me of that horrible smash dex thing you made, Garrick.
SIMBER: "R&R."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...oh, right. Oak, do you happen to know where Fox is?"
Aribar: "Thank you, Simb." *The elf exits the room with his notebook and pencil. Aribar jogs towards the R&R.*
Professor Oak: "At his usual betting place in the Stadium..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...poor guy. Alright, thanks." *He turns and heads for the betting room.*
Metal Man (GM): You reach Metal, in R&R.
Metal Man: "Hello Aribar."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick: You start heading there.
Digifanatic: "Hey Ari. How goes it?"
Aribar: "'allo... Hey Metal, do you still have a book called 'Holoroom Controls For Morons'?"
Digifanatic: "I know I'm not him, but why do ya want it?"
Metal Man: "...Yeah... why DO you want it?"
Aribar: "...N-nothing!" *Hides the notebook behind his back.*
Garrick Fy`aar rides the elevator up to the betting room, glancing immediately toward his left where Fox usually is.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick: You see Fox in the betting room. His war-torn arwing is there. It looks like it has been repaired.
Fox: "Well... those few upset victories which I bet on should be enough to fix the G-diffuser."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...oh, you've got to be kidding me... How's it coming, Fox?"
Fox: "Better than the usual. I won enough money to make my own arwing, and only my own arwing, spaceworthy. The other members of the team will have to stay here. Falco has been in a record number of fights in an attempt to get money."
Aribar: "So... Can I have the book?"
Metal Man: "Only if you show me that notebook."
Aribar: "...Fine." *He walks over and gives the notebook to Metal...*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I've got a question for you, Fox."
Metal Man flips through the books.
Aribar: *Said notebook would have a lot of sloppily drawn plans for a really long dungeon, but each level being short...*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Do you have the building blueprints for the arwings here?"
Metal Man: "Oh... well, a good training program never killed anybody. Here you go." *Gives Aribar the notebook and 'Holo room controls for morons'*
Aribar: "Thank you!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'm interested in them..."
Aribar takes both, and heads to the library to put the book in his name before heading back to the Holoroom.
Digifanatic: "Hmm... so what's going on with that notebook, Metal?"
Fox: "...The arwing blueprints are the only thing of value that hasn't been threatened by repomen!"
Metal Man: "Oh, just a training program. It looks fun."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't want to TAKE them."
Fox: "But their value is being secret."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...hmmm, well, I can understand that."
Fox: "I had to destroy every Wolfen 3 in existence just to protect their secrecy. And kill Andross..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Star Wolf IS dead, right?"
Fox: "They seem to be."
SIMBER: "Book: Holo Room Controls for Morons; checked out in Aribar's name.'"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Good... well, so much for making myself a ship... I'll have to draw up something myself. ...hey, Fox."
Fox: "If you'll pay us, I'm sure Slippy could help you."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, how about this."
Fox: "He made the Blue Marine! ...Too bad we had to sell it..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I've got a ton of parts lying around Nova... maybe with Slippery and Nova's help, I could help you get the other three arwings back up and running. In return, you help me build a ship of my own."
Fox: "Sure, but... it takes special parts. Not just any old parts. Falco tried to jam a CAC engine in his arwing... the result was explosive."
Falco: "I told you! You should have stepped on the gas!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I've got so much crap at Nova's place now, I don't know what's there."
Fox: "We'd need money to make the unique parts. Shall we go, then? My arwing is out here for display."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Sure, why not?"
Fox: "After all... they said they'd pay me 10 coins a day for it being displayed. Okay then. Let's go to the warp room."
Garrick Fy`aar nods and heads toward the warp room with the Star Fox team.
Peppy: "I'm getting too old for this... Fox, next time, ask me before you let any old Quester hire us!"
Slippy: "Yay! I get to invent again!"
Garrick Fy`aar gives Peppy a look.
Falco: "...I hope we can get back to destroying space scum soon."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...'any old Quester'?"
Peppy: "Well, sure! Questers are known for their greediness, and temper, and all sorts of stuff! It's what happens when I'm not around to guide people! They have somewhat of a bad rap, these days. Personal hitmen of the empire, you know."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, excuse me for trying to help you guys, then."
Fox: "Don't mind him. He's a bit old and tired."
Peppy: "I'd smack you for that, but you'd dodge it anyway..."
Garrick Fy`aar chuckles.
Falco: "Just hurry up and get going!"
Metal Man (GM): You're at the warp room now.
Garrick Fy`aar: "After you." *He lets Fox and the others head in.*
Fox: "Here we go."
Metal Man (GM): They all walk into the warp.
Garrick Fy`aar walks in after them.
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* ...This isn't Nova's place.... http://www.vgmix.com/songs/Reu_-_I_Am_Ultimecia(Final_Fantasy_8).mp3
Garrick Fy`aar: "...not good. Dex, scan."
???: "Greetings, hateful scum."
Smash Dex: "...Location... Marician Ruins."
Fox: "What is this place?"
Metal Man (GM): The entire area is made of stone. It's a huge place... and dark.
Peppy: "I don't like this..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Kappa."
Falco: "Whoever you are. Show yourself so we can kick the tar out of you!"
Metal Man (GM): ...The spitting image of Gerald Robotnik walks in front of you. It flickers, showing Kappa underneath.
Garrick Fy`aar barely mumbles under his breath "Dex, scan location and store info."
Gerald Robotnik: "It is I, the great Gerald Robotnik... back from the grave to get revenge on you loathsome creatures!"
Smash Dex: "Confirmed."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Materialize M150."
Gerald Robotnik: "This... is my glorious headquarters."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Not much of a headquarters, Gerald."
Gerald Robotnik: "...How dare you... insult my Marician forefathers!" *He points at Garrick, a spotlight appearing on him.* "I'm going to give you a taste of your own medicine."
Garrick Fy`aar cracks his neck from side to side as the M150 materializes in his hand, clip loaded and the gun cocked.
Metal Man (GM): The others seem to have disappeared... it's just you and him now.
Garrick Fy`aar: "So, you're going to take me on?"
Gerald Robotnik: "For you see... the Maricians were great inventors, much like myself. Then, one day, they were invaded, by such mindless killers as yourself."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'll take that as a compliment, for now."
Gerald Robotnik: *Sorrowful voice* "Everything was lost! Complete destruction engulfed our civilization! Only a single family... the Robotniks... survived. From that day on, we have hidden in the various societies, waiting to strike. I may be dead, but my unfinished business will be done!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "So, you're going to make me for first target. I'm flattered."
Gerald Robotnik: "Now then... you may wonder how I warped you and your friends here." *He pulls over a rather large chalkboard.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Partly."
Gerald Robotnik: "You see, using the gamma equation, I discovered the wavelength of your interspace teleportation and intercepted it."
Garrick Fy`aar rolls his eyes and unloads about ten rounds into the chalk board "I don't think you brought me here for a tutoring session, Doctor."
Gerald Robotnik: "You are blind! You cannot see it... using the inventions my forefathers have left me, I have been able to compromise your systems at will! You are the person who threatens me the most. Since I lack the power to destroy the world, I shall destroy you first! I shall defeat you in combat, much like your type."
Metal Man (GM): Mystery Battle! Hmmmm... yes. I need other music for this battle.
Garrick Fy`aar slowly drops into a gunner's stance. He spreads his legs widely to dodge anything that might come his way. "Dex, send a message to Nova: Have encounted Gerald Robotnik, need instant warp out on my command."
Smash Dex: "Message sent."
Metal Man (GM): One sec while I think of some good music. http://www.vgmix.com/songs/zircon_-_Oblivion(Phantasy_Star_IV_End_of_the_Millenium).mp3 That should do.
Garrick Fy`aar uses a free action to scan Gerald.
Gerald Robotnik: "Hit me with all your might!"
Smash Dex: "...DING! Gerald Robotnik - Hologram. Unable to obtain battle statistics. He is mysterious... it is unknown how he fights. End of entry."
Gerald Robotnik: "It won't be that easy, earthling."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, we'll have to gain first hand experience then."
Gerald Robotnik: "I am a master of technology!"
Garrick Fy`aar uses his first action, running quickly to the right and unloading one action's worth of regular shots at him.
Gerald Robotnik: *Extends his right hand, an aura of energy sparking at the shots.*
Metal Man (GM): All but one shot are hit by electricity and destroyed mid-air. He's hit once... by the crit. Crit damage, yes.
Gerald Robotnik: "Impressive. You have a 25% chance of hitting me with that inefficient blowgun. Let me show you how it's done."
Garrick Fy`aar uses his OTHER action *Which is to change clips in his gun to number five type ammo*
Gerald Robotnik: "Alpha Attack, initiate!"
Metal Man (GM): 30% damage per hit. There's now two clones of him, too.
Garrick Fy`aar ducks and rolls, dodging all three of them.
Metal Man (GM): His turn is not over, though.
Gerald Robotnik: "Beta Attack pattern. Initialize!"
Metal Man (GM): Do the AOO.
Garrick Fy`aar unloads a few Magical Piercing rounds at him.
Metal Man (GM): All three of them do the same electrical blocking thing. All of the shots are destroyed mid-air.
Gerald Robotnik: "You cannot defeat me using that piece of junk."
Metal Man (GM): You avoid that attack as well. Your turn again.
Gerald Robotnik: "You currently qualify for a level three Quester. But that is still woefully unable to defeat me."
Garrick Fy`aar backflips away from the attack, falling into a Max Payne style backwards body throw and launches a whole bunch of shots at him.
Metal Man (GM): Which one of him? There's three of them.
Garrick Fy`aar: *Hmmmm... right.*
Metal Man (GM): The right one? Once again, the counter attack thingy is done. The attacks are destroyed mid-air.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Damn it... okay, plan B..."
Gerald Robotnik: "You're hopeless."
Charles Magellean: "Hmm..."
Gerald Robotnik: *He seems to have a grin of malcontent and evil* "It is good I picked the weakest specimen to study and terminate... otherwise I would have a chance of sustaining serious injury."
Garrick Fy`aar twitches at that.
Metal Man (GM): Your turn over?
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(Weakest specimen?)
Gerald Robotnik: "Initializing next set of attacks. Attack level Gamma initialized." *All three of Gerald leap up into the air and... curl up into balls and spindash Garrick!*
Garrick Fy`aar gets nailed all three times.
Metal Man (GM): 25% wind damage per hit.
Gerald Robotnik: "Now you can see my true power."
Charles Magellean grabs a book and begins reading it while he begins to vitalize the warp room. He wants to go to Nova's as well to help Garrick.
Metal Man (GM): Your turn. Gerald spent an action initializing stuff.
Garrick Fy`aar growls as he pushes himself away from the attack. He grunts in pain, those things HURT. He can't stay here much longer... he'll get completely blasted. He downs a Max Mushroom, restoring his health to full and charges head on at the left Gerald, leaping up and smashing him with a Drill Kick.
Metal Man (GM): The drill kick is blocked by those lasers again. In addition, you take 10% damage.
Garrick Fy`aar leaps backwards, growling.
Metal Man (GM): Locos appears. His turn.
Charles Magellean: "...?"
Gerald Robotnik: "I'm so glad you could join us, Magellean. Your mind would make for a great machine."
Charles Magellean: "Lemme guess... You're here..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Locos, get out of here now!"
Gerald Robotnik: "Your comrade over there lacks finesse and battle ability."
Charles Magellean looks to the ghost from the past... and begins to shake in fear...
Gerald Robotnik: "I am Gerald Robotnik, Marician Scientist."
Garrick Fy`aar: "This guy is too powerful for both of us. We need to get out."
Charles Magellean: "..."
Gerald Robotnik: "All of this world shall be destroyed for the hateful things they have done to me!"
Charles Magellean: .oO(Line from the past: "All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me, will feel my loss, and despair!")
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Dex, where is Star Fox?"
Smash Dex: "Unknown."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Is the warp conduit established?"
Charles Magellean: "...I was just on my way to Nova's... and I was wondering... could I forget this event?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I guess it is."
Gerald Robotnik: "Oh yes, the unevolved primitives. I scanned their minds, taking all the pertinent information for myself, and then disposed of them into some horrible place on this planet."
Garrick Fy`aar rushes over to Locos, grabbing his shoulder "Nova, if you can hear this, warp us out now!"
Gerald Robotnik: "Nova cannot hear you. Only me. If you do not die soon, I shall take it as an insult."
Charles Magellean begins to have a seizure from the fear in his heart.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Dex, warp Locos out. Connect to the stadium and warp him out immediately."
Metal Man (GM): http://www.vgmix.com/songs/Reu_-_I_Am_Ultimecia(Final_Fantasy_8).mp3
Gerald Robotnik: "You cannot escape me, foolish boy. You're just a toy."
Charles Magellean: "...Soo... much ...fear... all ungrateful humans... feel loss... and despair... for Maria!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...SHUT UP!"
Gerald Robotnik: "Maria... you took her from me... you must die for your vile deeds... To lose all that is dear to you... your mind... your life... your only hope!"
Garrick Fy`aar spins his gun and unloads a sonic charge at Gerald's feet, blowing him back.
Gerald Robotnik: "All attempts... to stop me... shall be crushed underfoot!" *He is unaffected. The gun doesn't even fire.* "I have disabled your pathetic technology. The only hope left for you is to die." *Begins to walk closer, with an evil and mad face.*
Garrick Fy`aar growls, warping his gun back to his NSS. He drops into his old Ali style stutter step stance.
Charles Magellean: "..." *Locos just stares at the phantom from the past... fear ever growing... he goes to the floor... and continues to shake all over... staring into nothingness.*
Gerald Robotnik: "Marician Computer! Prepare for data."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Locos, SNAP OUT OF IT!"
Gerald Robotnik: *He pulls out what appears to be a large heatray.* "Like the others, I need your data to enter into the equation before I can succeed."
Charles Magellean begins to gasp for air since he's in so much shock.
Gerald Robotnik: "Initiate scanning algorithm."
Garrick Fy`aar stands in front of Locos. A partner of the Questers till the end, he protects him with his own self.
Editor's Note: Hah! HAH! HAH HAH HAH HAH HA no.
Gerald Robotnik: *Points and fires the gun, Garrick is scanned by a harmless wireframe. A nearby monitor lights up with a wealth of information.*
Computer: "Garrick Fy'arr data. Successfully copied."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...what... did you just do?"
Charles Magellean is no longer shaking. His body is just... still.
Gerald Robotnik: "I now know everything there is to know about you."
Charles Magellean silver ooze begins to floor from the bottom of his ear that's nearest to the ground.
Gerald Robotnik: "Your life... your thoughts... your memories... they belong to me now! And there's nothing you can do about it but die."
Charles Magellean gets up... stumbly... but with a determined face.
Gerald Robotnik: "Of course, Kyle, you aren't the type to give up... so I'll have to kill you." *Fires all sorts of lightning at Garrick, blasting him back into a wall. He's stunned and takes 50% damage instantly.* "And you... your vile imitation of my madness is sickening."
Garrick Fy`aar screams loudly, shaking madly from the lightning damage.
Charles Magellean: "The 20 fl. oz. of fear that built up are now on the ground behind me. I am still scared of you... but that doesn't mean I will not cower in fear for now."
Gerald Robotnik: "You cannot stop me, unhuman fiend!"
Charles Magellean: *Twitch*
Gerald Robotnik: "All shall suffer for what has happened to Gerald Robotnik!"
Charles Magellean: "...Whatchu call me?"
Gerald Robotnik: "You are not human. You are a fiend!"
Garrick Fy`aar leans against the wall, panting and shaking his head, trying to clear himself of the stun.
Gerald Robotnik: "Created to stop me... by those who think they have a chance..."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick: You're stuck... unless Locos helped you, you're kinda stuck on the ground.
Charles Magellean: "I was created not in a lab..."
Gerald Robotnik: *He puts away the scanning gun, and pulls out instead a rather bulky electronic gun.* "Your evil mind is the servant I rightfully need."
Charles Magellean: "I... am... Lunarian! By Lord Bahamut, if it means I must stand in your way to restore the honor of Lunarians... then I will."
Gerald Robotnik: "Now... take this!"
Charles Magellean: "Maria would want it this way... for humanity to live, not for it's destruction by her grandfather's madness."
Gerald Robotnik: "...Maria? No... she would want revenge! Revenge for every cell in her body... death to all which thought..."
Charles Magellean: "She did not say that when I was in limbo and was able to meet her."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...w... why... why am I always the furthest... behind..."
Charles Magellean brings out his relic of power.
Gerald Robotnik: "You are a foul liar... and unable to control yourself as well!"
Charles Magellean: "Even if I must die, my pride will not be insulted and not due battle with!"
Gerald Robotnik: "You cannot harm me. I am unstoppable."
Charles Magellean: "Illian helped me with my control. I am balanced as ever."
Gerald Robotnik: "Attack me, fiend!"
Charles Magellean: "...Who said anything that I was going to hit you?"
Gerald Robotnik: "Then what are you going to do? Be destroyed?"
Charles Magellean aims at Robotnik, but it fires right through Gerald to hit various machinery behind him."
Metal Man (GM): You hit the machinery. Things start going berserk.
Gerald Robotnik: *Begins laughing.*
Charles Magellean: "Now... leave me alone and I will leave you alone to your work."
Computer: "Severe damage to several terminals detected."
Charles Magellean: "I have done nothing to the Earth."
Gerald Robotnik: "Foolish Lunarian! Do you know what you have damaged?"
Charles Magellean: "The warp stabilizer."
Gerald Robotnik: "THE MACHINE WHICH CONTROLS THE INNER WORKINGS OF THIS PLANET!"
Metal Man (GM): The ground starts shaking.
Charles Magellean: "...Yeah. that's worse."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...N... NOVA!"
Computer: "Volcanic eruptions have begun."
Charles Magellean: "However... I have friends in high places as well."
Gerald Robotnik: "You have only hastened your own doom."
Charles Magellean takes out his Ressikan flute.
Metal Man (GM): The entire planet seems to be shaking.
Charles Magellean: "To bring harmony to those, and peace to those in need... Please... hear my song of 'The Inner Light'."
Garrick Fy`aar growls out loud, trying with all his might to stand.
Charles Magellean: *http://www.belgarath.net/?FramePage=/v5/sounds/index.asp& first midi that's almost at the bottom of the page.*
Metal Man (GM): You manage to stand, unable to move your arms much, Garrick.
Charles Magellean starts to have tears in his eyes whenever he hears this song or plays it.
Garrick Fy`aar blinks away the blood that's falling into his eyes. Haven't bled in a while... he moves slowly toward the computer behind all of them, limping... pulling himself toward it.
Gerald Robotnik: *Stands back a bit, seemingly shocked.* "...This... loathsome melody... ..."
Metal Man (GM): The area continues to rock a bit, sparks flying about. Gerald backing off a bit. Garrick: You reach the computer. Several controls in mysterious characters are there.
Garrick Fy`aar starts hitting buttons, using what knowledge he gained from working with Nova to try and work it out...
Metal Man (GM): It doesn't respond very well... it says that the transformer that powers it has been blown. After the melody ends, a white light enters the room. It surrounds Garrick and Locos, healing them....
Gerald Robotnik: "...You... cannot escape forever!"
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* You land in Nova's main room.
Nova: "...Are you all right? You... landed in some mysterious ruins... which were then covered in magma!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Nova, what is the status of the planet?"
Charles Magellean puts away his flute.
Nova: "I got a distress call from my geothermal balance module... someone was using it to power an ancient structure. A few volcanoes have erupted. Like Death Mountain."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Any severe damage?"
Nova: "The normal damage a volcano causes... since all of these were active volcanoes, only minor damage. A few towns were damaged, though. Nothing beyond the normal. It ended shortly after you got here... ...It appears Gerald Robotnik struck again. But why did he cause volcanic eruptions?"
Garrick Fy`aar falls into a chair. He looks... horrible, even though he was fully healed "He didn't. That was Locos."
Nova: "...What happened?"
Garrick Fy`aar explains in detail everything that happened. His eyes remain on the table's hard metal surface as he goes over not being able to do anything to Gerald, how Locos appeared, himself being scanned by Gerald, Locos blasting the hell out of the module, Locos blowing the flute and healing and warping them both here.
Nova: "Hmmm... the fears of many were justified..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...is Star Fox back at the stadium?"
Nova: "He has control of one of my modules, and is using it to power an ancient Marician city. No... they went missing. From what you said, he randomly dumped them somewhere. ...And he has their knowledge... As well as yours."
Garrick Fy`aar lets out a long, loud growl, punching the metal table and denting it badly.
Nova: "If Locos hadn't played that tune, he would have Locos under control and you dead. As usual, we can't touch him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...no."
Nova: "The eruption took the underground area and destroyed all tunnels to it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...*I* can't touch him."
Nova: "Now then... he mentioned the Maricians... They were an ancient society... who made the emeralds and many other inventions, according to lore."
Garrick Fy`aar barely listens, staring down into his dent.
Nova: "But, one day, their isolated civilization was suddenly destroyed. Nothing was left. It was a total loss. ...If Gerald is Marician... it would explain the sophistication of his inventions... and the amount of hatred and grief which he has. Not only did he lose Shadow, and Maria, and his home world, and his life, but his entire civilization!"
Garrick Fy`aar reaches into his pocket and pulls out his old Dex and his Quester ID card "...shouldn't I be just as dangerous, then?"
Nova: "He has powers which extend beyond Quester technology... which is increasingly common. Valhalla, Ivan, Gerald, Zio, and Grunty all have better technology. Gerald is tied with Zio and Grunty for the highest sophistication. But beats them with the fact he has three chaos emeralds. However... he hasn't done anything that would signal his want for planetwide destruction quite yet. He must be holding something back or planning. He succeeded in his plan for today, though."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...why did he want me?"
Nova: "You were making that new dex."
Garrick Fy`aar: "No, YOU were making that new Dex."
Nova: "It was made specifically to resist his efforts to hack technology."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I just built it."
Nova: "...Well, he can't very well invite me in for dinner. I'd be able to take him on and then some."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Damn it, Nova! What can we do?!"
Nova: "We must wait... and continue the mission to defeat Grunty. Remember... it was her fault for letting HIM loose. His inventions have to be activated and let loose before they can be activated to destroy the world."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Nova, you have some ancient Earthian history in you, right?" *He stands up and walks over to his gun rack. He starts pulling gun after gun off and placing it on the table.*
Nova: "Yes."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Know it sounds weird, but you ever heard of the Punisher?"
Nova: "No. However, I do know of the Keystone."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It was an old comic back in 21st century Earth..."
Nova: "The time around 2000 AD in which the realm split off into many alternate dimensions."
Garrick Fy`aar: "This doesn't have to do with that."
Nova: "What is it about?"
Garrick Fy`aar pulls over a pad of paper and a pencil, simplest he can find. He begins sketching something... "...the comic was about a man, a man that lost everything. His family, his friends, his life, his home."
Nova: "...Reminds me of Gerald."
Garrick Fy`aar: "So, he committed himself to punishing the evil of New York City. It's one of the things that made me becoming a Special Ops officer, and then a commander under David..."
Nova: "And on the other hand, we have a man who lost everything, but he decided to punish everything..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Anyway, he shut himself off from the world. ...Nova, tell me, if you had to rate me in comparison with... let's say... Aribar in terms of battle strength, who would you choose?"
Nova: "Save for the ability to use all of his energy at once to instantly defeat you, you'd be equal."
Garrick Fy`aar continues to sketch, staring at the paper. "...I don't know what to do, Nova. I feel like I'm losing my edge. I've been beaten several times alone and when I try to help the Questers, I find that my efforts were useless because Oak just made something better than my creation. Then this happens. I'm now known by the criminal world of Nintendus as The weakest Quester of the lot"."
Nova: "Gerald is just trying to psychologically damage you. And if you don't stop letting it get to you, he can defeat you without trying. For you see... those who give up easily are assimilated into his destructive task... Shadow gave up. He turned evil and remained so for 50 years."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh, hell no. What the hell made you thought I was going to give up?"
Nova: "The tone of voice was not promising."
Garrick Fy`aar smirks "Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not about to give up. What I AM going to do however is screw Grunty up a bit."
Nova: "It has been planned. I set the main idea in motion. A raid from the rear port area, blasting through to the command central with force."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Ah, but I have a idea to hurt her a little bit more."
Nova: "Hmmmm?"
Garrick Fy`aar motions to the large lead box he constructed to store the Phazon and the radiation stick.
Nova: "A Phazon bomb?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, we'll plant it right on her head and blow it after we get out."
Nova: "You must be careful... she is known for living without a body. For a long time she was a robot... before that, she was a skeleton."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Planting it right on her head is a figure of speech."
Nova: "Hmmm?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "If we can plant this sucker in the heart of her operation in her castle, trash her up, then blow it, she'll lose everything she has on there. Not only that, but the fallout should completely drown her castle out."
Nova: "I'll add that to the plan, then. It should be the right weapon to destroy her empire."
Garrick Fy`aar nods.
Nova: "Just be careful... radiation knows no allies."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'll make sure everyone is out before we blow it."
Nova: "Okay."
Garrick Fy`aar goes to work then, building the specs for this bomb with Nova's help.
Metal Man (GM): Aaaand we pause there. Well, not pause. Fade out.
Aribar continues reading that Holoroom control book, consulting with SIMBER on various things, and working on his mission.
Azure: *Walks out of his room and walks around Quester HQ to catch some air.*
Aribar looks up from his work. "Whew... The first ten levels are done. SIMBER, can you save this information onto a disk so I can work on it later?"
SIMBER: "Affirmative."
Aribar takes the disk and walks out of the holoroom to the R&R to relax.
Metal Man (GM): Metal is there, watching The news.
Reporter: "Today, on Nintopia News!"
Aribar: "'allo, Metal."
Metal Man: "Hello."
Reporter: "Volcanic eruptions across the board rock the planet. Grunty's company has suddenly upped security in preparation for attack. And Toadsworth buys the mansion once owned by Mario!"
Aribar: "...Hrm... I hope Nova can calm down those volcanoes... Ah well. So, Metal, want to try out the first level of my dungeon?"
Metal Man: "Hmmm? Maybe..."
Aribar: "Maybe? Well, if you want you can follow me to the Holoroom. You don't have to, though." *The elf gets up and heads back to the Holoroom.*
Metal Man: "Hmmm... I think I'll rest some instead."
Aribar: "Okay then."
Aribar (GM): The holoroom activates and you both appear in a stone room... It is about 10x10x10 feet. Behind you is the door out of the Holoroom. In the middle of the room is a clear box with a bunch of different items cycling through it. (If you remember the clear revolving Item boxes in Super Mario World think of those)
Wolfman and Spyke get ourselves ready for this... badges and whatnot are activated and ready.
Aribar (GM): On the other side of the room is a door with a handle on it... And a MASSIVE padlock. Level 1: Entrance to the Dungeon.
Spyke is dressed in his black attire, skin tight, sleeveless. On his back, his Vayu Armor, folded up into a small metal disk. In his hand, his weapon is already held. "Hrm..."
Wolfman is as he usually is... reploidic, beam saber on hand, megaton hammer on standby.
Spyke runs a hand through his short, wavy brown hair, his blue eyes surveying the room slowly "Well? you ready?"
Wolfman: "Sure, why not? I could use a workout."
Aribar (GM): You see various things cycle through that box... A pokeball... A key... A mushroom...
Wolfman: "...you hit it."
Spyke watches the items cycle through the clear box "What's this?" He slowly looks towards the padlock "Great... Looks like we are going to have to get that key..." "I'll try..." *He watches the items cycle through, trying to memorize the pattern before striking at the box with his fist, trying to pop out the key.*
Wolfman: "Sounds like the idea."
Aribar (GM): You hit the box and the key falls out!
Spyke closes his eyes as he hits the box, not wishing to see if he did it at the right time... "Did I get it?"
Wolfman watches Spyke hit the box... he gets...
Aribar (GM): The other items continue to cycle through it box.
Spyke opens his right eye slowly looking to see what he got. "Yes!... Hrmm... You want to go for something?" He steps back in case Wolf does.
Wolfman sees that Spyke got... well... something... He goes to give it a shot *Rewinds* "...I think we should just continue onward."
Spyke: "Okay..." *He picks up the key and heads for the padlocked door.*
Wolfman follows Spyke.
Aribar: *It looks like the key would fit in it.*
Spyke inserts the key carefully into the door, waiting to see if it fits before turning it slowly. "..." His grip tightens on his gun in his other hand.
Aribar: *The padlock falls apart as you insert the key and the door fades away... Stairs continue downwards.*
Wolfman: "Let's go then."
Spyke cautiously looks down the stairwell before proceeding down, gun leading the way "Hrm... Seems safe enough."
Wolfman follows, beam saber in hand.
Aribar (GM): Level 1 beaten! You gain a whopping... 1 EXP. Level 2: Icy Wall of Doom. As you come down the steps to the next level you notice it is a lot colder... In fact, there's a wall of ice in front of you!
Spyke: "Great... Bring a flamethrower by chance?"
Wolfman: "...nope. ...I do have a Howl Buster, though; it shoots plasma."
Aribar (GM): Dexes are allowed in here, just so you know.
Spyke: "I think that will work... Care to try it?"
Wolfman gets what Spyke is saying at... he brings out his projectile melee move/weapon/thingy. He aims at... well, sort of the upper center. If tic tac toe, first row, second column. He holds it steady before firing.
Aribar (GM): Roll it... Although it is nigh-impossible to miss. All three hit!
Wolfman: *21% total if that matters.*
Aribar (GM): It has an AC of five, by the way... All inanimate objects do.
Spyke waits to see if it worked... crossing his fingers.
Aribar (GM): There are a few tiny cracks in it...
Wolfman: "Shall I blast some more?"
Aribar (GM): At this rate it'd probably take about two minutes of Howl Blaster blasting.
Wolfman: "...or should we try a more... direct approach?" *He swaps to Megaton Hammer. "Stand back?" *He feels like he wants to cause some chaos.
Spyke gets out of the way quickly "Let 'er rip!"
Aribar (GM): You could try to smash it with the Megaton Hammer... A good, strong hit MAY do it. It would require an STR check with a +2 bonus.
Wolfman lifts the hammer up... and goes for a good hard swing.
Aribar (GM): THUNK!
Wolfman: *artifact weapon I believe.*
Aribar (GM): That took a -BIG- hunk out of the wall... It should be down with just a few more attacks.
Wolfman goes for another swing. He might be a reploid, but apparently he can still get a tiny bit tired.
Spyke draws his gun, holding it at his side "Want me to just shoot it a lot?"
Wolfman: "Probably a good idea." *Puts hammer away. He stands back.*
Spyke aims his gun at the wall, firing a single shot, enhanced by his abnormal abilities. The air is split behind the shot, collapsing behind the normal round, like a second shot.
Aribar (GM): Both hit... What a surprise? ... You figure about one more of those air-splitting shots should do it.
Wolfman: "...one more Spyke."
Spyke does it again, with about the same effort as before.
Aribar (GM): Both hit and the wall crumbles down... Not endangering either of you, of course.
Spyke: "I would thank some deity for it not falling down upon us... But I would not know who to thank..." *He looks past the crumbled construct.*
Wolfman: "Thank all of them then... well, all of the good ones."
Spyke: "Well, if we don't thank the bad ones, won't they get angry?" *Quirking a brow*
Wolfman: "Hmm... good point."
Spyke: "Anyway... Great job to us... we broke a wall... I just hope we don't meet whoever made it... they might ask for us to compensate them..."
Aribar (GM): On the other side is a door... Thankfully not locked and ready to be opened.
Wolfman goes to the door this time.
Spyke heads to the door walking over any bits of ice that remain.
Wolfman opens the door.
Aribar (GM): Level 2 beaten! You get... Not 1, not 2, but 3 EXP! We'll wait for Wolfman to return before moving onto... Level 3: Rat-Infested Cellar!
Wolfman and Spyke enter... oh rats.
Aribar (GM): ... This room looks like your typical rat-covered tavern basement... Y'know... 10... No, 30, no... Fifty rats who all look at you as you enter.
Editor's Note: Why hello there, obvious ripoff of Kingdom of Loathing!
Wolfman gets a look at these rats... (our size, or rat-size?)
Spyke: "Great... Rats are something I classify as an Ankle-Biter Threat... Only a danger in numbers such as these..."
Wolfman: "They don't look that bad..."
Aribar (GM): It looks like you'll have to cut a path through them to get to the other side!
Wolfman tries to find a way to the other side... oh boy.
Aribar (GM): ... 'cause they really seem to want you dead... *BATTLE START.*
Spyke: "Well... We could always step on them..."
Aribar (GM): Spyke, Wolfman, Rats 1-50.
Wolfman has one crazy idea he'll do on his go.
Aribar (GM): Your go, Spyke... These are basically normal rats, only a bit... Okay, a lot more bloodthirsty than most.
Spyke goes for the old shoot first and shoot again routine, air splintering both times. (Rat 1 is first two dice, and Rat 2 is the next two)
Aribar (GM): You manage to kill both rats, and the two behind it! ... All extra firepower seems to go to the surrounding rats.
Wolfman decides that instead of exterminating... just send them around. He swaps to the Megaton Hammer first. continuing He then steps to the rats until he's about...5 feet away. He brings his hammer up, but instead of swinging to the rats, he swings DOWN to the ground, going for some sort of mini quake/vibration effect... basically, a scare tactic. He hopes this will scare the rats away.
Aribar (GM): So... Basically an intimidation check? The six rats that got critical rolls aren't scared of you... The rest are. They all cower in fear in the other corners. Do you wish to do anything else?
Spyke: "Well, that makes things easier..." *He shies away form Wolf, afraid to get hit by that hammer.*
Aribar (GM): Are you going to do anything else with your actions?
Wolfman doesn't think that will work on those rats... he just goes to smush them with his hammer. (penalty roll due to size?)
Aribar (GM): You rat killer! It's overkilled. ... That is to say, only one was hit. The remaining five rats all swarm Wolfman. Do ANY of those bites hit?
Wolfman is just tickled.
Spyke: "Don't let them bite you! Those could be nasty..."
Wolfman: "I'm a reploid! Their teeth can't hurt me much!"
Aribar (GM): Well, Spyke's turn... The rats' teeth don't even scratch Wolf's armor.
Spyke: "I hope I don't hit you... but..." *He fires again, this time with a fats moving blast of wind, followed by the usual air splitter*
Aribar (GM): Only two rats remain... They're persistent. Wolfman, finish the pests.
Wolfman goes whack-a-moling again... once one rat is done, the next one... if both are done, one more quake for good measure.
Aribar (GM): All are now dead! You may continue to the door and out of this evil rat room.
Wolfman hurries to the door.
Aribar (GM): Huzzah! 5 EXP for completing the level! Time for the next level... Question: What order are you walking in as you head down the steps to the next floor?
Wolfman will lead this time. He will... end up suffering as a result.
Aribar (GM): How'd you know?! Level 4: Traps of Despair. Wolfman walks down to the entryway and out into a trap-infested room... Pits, sawblades... HALBERD!! As you enter the room a halberd trap is sprung and the axe-like weapon flies down to give you a nasty haircut. SPD save. ... 10% damage if you choose not to Lucky.
Wolfman steps in... and gets a little whiplash. "Watch that first step... it's a doozy..."
Aribar (GM): The halberd/axe stays where it is at... Spyke should have no trouble getting past.
Wolfman: "Spyke, be careful here... this place is trapped."
Aribar (GM): However, a spiked pit that's about... Oh, I guess 6 feet across perhaps, is in the way.
Spyke: "I can see..." *He continues on* *Pausing at the edge of the pit.*
Wolfman tries to see if the spike pit is... well, the full width of the room.
Aribar (GM): Nope. On the other side is a short bit of ground for breathing before sawblades on the floor block the way to the door. Remember that jumping checks are STR-based.
Wolfman switches to the Beam Saber before attempting anything.
Spyke: "So... Want me to go first?..." *He looks at Wolf and back to the pit.*
Wolfman: "Go for it. I already Axed for it earlier."
Spyke nods before taking a running leap to try and clear the pit, double jumping if necessary.
Aribar (GM): You easily pass it and land on the other side. Wolfman's turn!
Wolfman follows Spyke's example. He forgot that he was heavier... he can't exactly duplicate that...
Aribar (GM): You barely make it across... All that is left are those sawblades on the floor.
Wolfman somehow makes it anyway.
Aribar (GM): They stick up about a foot above the ground and move back and forth on the floor.
Spyke: "Looks like a mad dash through pointy sharp land."
Wolfman: "...either that, or perhaps fancy jumping..." *He tries to judge jumping distance.*
Aribar (GM): Either way some fancy work will be required.
Spyke facepalms... He flies into the air, remaining there, trying to judge if he can just fly over... or if the ceiling is too low to fly in...
Aribar (GM): Looks like you'd be able to fly over it. The room is about ten feet high.
Spyke turns himself so he is 'on his back' and floats over lazily. "Come on. It isn't that hard." He chuckles a bit as he does a 'backstroke'
Wolfman recalls seeing X having a similar type of flying armor the last time he was in his own realm... ah, memories. He decides to just go for the acrobatics... hope Mario has taught him well. (doing both jumps first before I decide what to do)
Aribar (GM): You almost get caught be the blades as you fall from the first jump but save yourself with the second. The door awaits.
Wolfman: "Spyke, you go first."
Spyke drops to the floor and opens the door slowly "What kept you?" He grins He enters the door.
Wolfman: "I don't have jet boots on my feet. ...or a Star Board."
Spyke: "I don't either... I just have good control of wind is all."
Aribar (GM): ... No traps! The level is completed. A whopping 7 EXP. Level 5: Punchbag Challenge.
Wolfman and Spyke (well, reverse order) enter to see a room full of... punch bags?
Aribar (GM): As you reach the next level you see a... Rather beat up punchbag with one of those pair of glasses with a fake nose and mustache, and a door with another large padlock on it.*
Spyke: "..."
Wolfman: "Hmm... did someone try this place before us? That bag looks worn."
Spyke: "Ummm... Hi?" *He takes a moment to figure out the bag is a bag and not a person... Dur...*
Aribar (GM): INT check, Spyke.
Wolfman: "...why were you saying hi to a bag? Granted, we've had weird things before... but I don't think it can talk." *He is obviously a little more open when with fewer people.*
Spyke: "..." *He blinks * "Oh... Say what? Damn this place is confusing... A man eating couch... a Magic Trashcan... I couldn't help but think..."
Wolfman: "I don't blame you... but there might be something; let me take a look."
