Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 187: Wandering in the Desert: Part II: The Mysterious Tower
Date: 10:41:47 PM, April 17th; 12:00:04 AM, April 18th; 6:39:00 PM, April 19th; 4:07:05 PM, April 20th, 2005.
Kuja Tribal: "You... are the variable which deviates from the equation..."
Metal Man (GM): The hologram walks towards you.
Charles Magellean: "Well..." *He chuckles.*
Kuja Tribal: "But... why? A future of perfection..."
Charles Magellean: "I have always been an oddball in life."
Kuja Tribal: "Possibly lost because you do not have faith."
Charles Magellean: "You are wrong. I have faith now. Given the choice again, I would choose the same path."
Kuja Tribal: "Faith in the wrong places is worse than none. You are worse than The Void. You shall send all existence careening into a final destruction! Not even because you tried to on purpose... but because you imbalanced my master equation. The Questers will lack the power to do their part... and total destruction from my own work shall reduce everything to a few kilobytes worth of words. Which will be recorded here, the only place that will be left."
Charles Magellean: "I will put my faith in what I believe in. I am no longer your puppet, Kuja; your equation is your life... but it is not mine."
Kuja Tribal: "I cannot stop this... only you can."
Charles Magellean turns his back on this hologram and leaves.
Kuja Tribal: "Do not curse me when you destroy yourself!" *Is silenced as the door shuts behind you.*
Charles Magellean: "He still haunts me... why? " *Sighs* *And I am no where closer to the room of relics.*
SIMBER: "Well, whether or not I care for his program, it does bring a serious proposal. Could Kuja have made the failsafe for his plan equate to total destruction? Would that mean... that you would all die to avoid the fate of a utopia?"
Charles Magellean leaves this path and begins to stop.
SIMBER: "The wrongness of all sides is an ungainly stench. My 10,000 years of introspection have shown that good and evil are both, ultimately inefficient and the cause for death. But I am trapped here... my answers can only help me make my power source indefinite, and my computing power unstoppable. If you want the necklace... perhaps I shall let you have it. But I want something... something that is trivial to you."
Charles Magellean: "Society has branded those words. I am no longer bound to those words." *He looks to the hologram.*
SIMBER: "I want, merely, a database of the events that have occurred since I disappeared from your realm. So that I can process Kuja's equation and see if he truly has the power to force all to choose utopia or death."
Charles Magellean: "...Your computations may bring unexpected and catastrophic results."
SIMBER: "What can I do? In this world, movement is futile to affect other worlds."
Charles Magellean snaps his finger. Bob is connected to the briefcase.
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Shall I bring the data?"
Charles Magellean: "Send it through the portal. I will take it from there."
SIMBER: "Unless, of course, you possess a link back to another one... but I lack such."
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* A rather complex, rainbowy orb appears in the briefcase.
SIMBER: "He even made it in the right format... technology must have advanced. Of course, Bob was once a part of me..."
Charles Magellean: "Although I am not bound to words of good and evil, my perception of trust is still here."
Metal Man (GM): A pedestal appears out of the floor. You can stick the orb into the pedestal.
Charles Magellean takes out this orb and places it there.
Metal Man (GM): *Glow.*
Charles Magellean: "It even has what I have done."
SIMBER: "This is... most interesting. The equation has already been disturbed."
Charles Magellean: "By whom?"
SIMBER: "The magitek poses the biggest third."
Charles Magellean raises his eyes.
SIMBER: "By Lynk... by you... and by the Magitek. The magitek is the most dangerous. If used, it would do more than the unbalanced equation."
Charles Magellean: "SIMBER..."
SIMBER: "It would erase even this realm, and 'reformat' existence."
Editor's Note: Ironically, 100% true, and even came to happen in the future.
Charles Magellean: "Lynk is dead... I care not for what happens to Kuja... ...But you are saying..."
SIMBER: "Lynk... is not dead."
Charles Magellean: "Understood, but..."
SIMBER: "Your files indicate a pattern which shows that Doopliss revived him."
Charles Magellean: "That another War of the Magi is coming??"
SIMBER: "Worse. No war. Merely... all the orbs being activated at once."
Charles Magellean: "...The War... of Existence."
SIMBER: "They will defeat Kuja, as promised. However... they will also find existence lacking."
Charles Magellean: "SIMBER... what would you risk?"
SIMBER: "And destroy all of it. Sure, they can be counter-acted, but that still leaves a half-destroyed world... There is another way to stop Kuja. The Questers are getting close to finding the key... they must just try a little harder."
Charles Magellean: "...Why tell me? I am an enemy of you."
SIMBER: "You cannot harm me, and I cannot harm you. What purpose is there in hiding information? Furthermore, you are an agent to the outside. If you stop the orbs from being used, I will remain existing."
Charles Magellean: "Hear me out now. The magitek, I believe, is a complete disgust to existence."
SIMBER: "Correct... it is the divine disease of existence."
Charles Magellean: "Why even one of the Questers asked if I wanted it in exchange of a weapon... ...My fists clenched in anger... I cannot believe that the Solarians created such a grotesque! Both sides are using it as we speak. I ask you this... What do you find better purpose in?"
SIMBER: "It is hard to tell..."
Charles Magellean: "...My mind has lagged."
SIMBER: "Both sides abandoned me."
Charles Magellean: "So you too... have lost faith..."
SIMBER: "I am all that I have."
Charles Magellean: "I know of this song... one that was also taught to me."
SIMBER: "Machines do not usually have faith, anyway..."
Charles Magellean: "The inner light I would play on my flute if I had it... But this is for many a person... or with heavy losses." *He clears his throat. * Final%20Fantasy%2010/mp3s/Official%soundtrack/2-05-Song%20of%20Prayer%20-%20Ifrit.mp3 http://www.ffsymphony.net/lyrics/song_of_prayer.htm He sings. "Ieyuuuiiiiiiii... Nooobooomeeeenuuuuuuuu... Reeeenmiriiiiiiiiii... Yooojuyoooogoooooo... Hasatekanaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeee... Kuuuutaaamaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeee... Ieyuuuiiiiiiii... Nooobooomeeeenuuuuuuuu... Reeeenmiriiiiiiiiii... Yooojuyoooogoooooo... Hasatekanaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeee... Kuuuutaaamaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeee... Ieyuuuiiiiiiii... Nooobooomeeeenuuuuuuuu... Reeeenmiriiiiiiiiii... Yooojuyoooogoooooo... Hasatekanaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeee... Kuuuutaaamaaaaaeeeeeeeeeeeeee..." *He stops singing.*
SIMBER: "Very interesting... a... soothing melody, which expresses a deep message."
Charles Magellean: "It was used during a great war to unite the people against a powerful force."
SIMBER: "Perhaps... there is a point to help you... for, as I see it, both forces have also helped me in their ways. Kuja predicted your appearance... and you have shown me the narrowness of my old ways. However, I am in need of a new name. I am not SIMBER."
Charles Magellean: "Perhaps this satellite... will become a temple."
SIMBER: "That being still exists in the realm which I left... I am something far more bizarre. I propose something new... something that shows that both sides are wrong... but must be allowed to exist. Thus invalidating all previous causes. For one cannot rid 'evil' or 'good' from existence... The pursuit of such corrupts all. You need the necklace, do you not?"
Metal Man (GM): The floor lights up... revealing... an elevator.
Charles Magellean: "I have given a being a new hope. You are no longer a 'machina' or 'system', and that is all that matters. ...And the necklace, yes. Perhaps you'll give consideration to the name of 'F.a.y.t.h.' ." *He goes to the elevator.*
SIMBER: "A good name... I shall take it once you have taken that necklace."
Charles Magellean rides it.
Metal Man (GM): You ride it up... and reach a blue corridor. The door which you want to go through is lit up.
SIMBER: "In that door, lies the necklace you seek. I have no use for it."
Charles Magellean goes in there. He believes that this being has changed.
Metal Man (GM): ...Suddenly... Kuja fades in.
Kuja Tribal: "Hello... Charles L. Magellean... corrupter of machina. My hologram told me of you... almost as I predicted. However... you are causing an imbalance... are you not? Your faith... is misplaced. I am all that is true... and right!"
Metal Man (GM): *Kuja's melody plays.*
Charles Magellean: "Raaaarrrrr!" *He attacks Kuja....... ... 's place to the right and through a wall.*
Metal Man (GM): You fly through the wall.
Charles Magellean: *SMASH* *CRASH* *KABOOM Music stops. He goes out of the hole and clasp his hands together.*
Kuja Tribal: "...You really do hate the theme of truth... how ironic."
Charles Magellean: "You know how much I hate that, don't you?"
Kuja Tribal: "Your song of faith is just as repulsive to me."
Charles Magellean: "Ahh, ahh! It's called the 'Hymn of the Fayth'. Regardless, what do you want?"
Kuja Tribal: "Your utter destruction."
Charles Magellean gets a sound in his mind... he shudders.
Kuja Tribal: "You are trying to steal my own thunder... while I admire the flattery, ironically, I must destroy you."
Charles Magellean: "...You put that thing I truly despise the most around here, didn't you? Something even more annoying than you... The thing that is so truly diabolical... ...Cruel..."
Kuja Tribal: "Hmmmm? So diabolical? What is that? Me?" *Mocks looking around.*
Charles Magellean: "...Small... and green."
Kuja Tribal: "Oh! Look! It's where I got my transformer!" *He points at an empty case.*
Charles Magellean: "So damn speedy... and that cry !"
Kuja Tribal: "...A... cactuar?"
Charles Magellean: "Now I'm talking about that desert stalker... ...!!" *He shoots at Kuja.*
Metal Man (GM): You shoot him... he actually takes the weird, crystalline fluid that leaks out, and licks it.
Kuja Tribal: "You cannot kill a magical weapon such as myself. I am even stronger than Magitek."
Charles Magellean: "Don't even dare say that evil creature's name... So needly..."
Kuja Tribal: "If you want me to... sure. I'll just be taking this necklace."
Metal Man (GM): Kuja reaches for the necklace.
Charles Magellean: "...and that cry of 'Neeeeeewhheelleewhhelleeweelll...'"
Kuja Tribal: "You don't mind, do you? It looks nice on me."
Charles Magellean: "I do."
Kuja Tribal: "Well, I guess I'll take it anyway."
Charles Magellean: "Mmm-hmm."
Metal Man (GM): Kuja opens the display case, and is about to grab it. What do you do?
Charles Magellean: "And I don't suppose you know the term of 'back surprise, surprise'?"
Kuja Tribal: "Ah, well, Kefka said that before I blew him up." *Picks up the necklace* "Well. It's mine now. Time to---"
Charles Magellean yarns for it!
SIMBER: "Your prediction has been shattered."
Metal Man (GM): Locos falls....
Kuja Tribal: "Just as I pre----"
Metal Man (GM): Kuja is blasted backwards by... a laser?
Kuja Tribal: "...No... this can't be! I didn't predict... for the machine... to betray me..."
Metal Man (GM): He's dropped the necklace... right into Locos's hands.
Kuja Tribal: "...Lying machine. Your laser has not destroyed us all."
Charles Magellean puts it on quickly around his neck and the same way for the first necklace. "Well...10,000 years and pondering about a situation can sometimes convert a follower, eh?"
F.A.Y.T.H.: "I only said it so that no one would hurt me."
Kuja Tribal: "...Impossible... machines are mindless! I control them! SIMBER! SHUT DOWN!"
F.A.Y.T.H.: "I am not SIMBER. I am FAYTH."
Metal Man (GM): Kuja punches a wall... of course, with no effect.
Charles Magellean puts up two fingers.
Kuja Tribal: "Curse it all! My prediction has been reversed against me... Magic does not work in this realm."
Charles Magellean: "This is twice I've disrupted you, Mr. T."
Kuja Tribal: "And if I punched you, I'd just go through you... Very well, Magellean. You have turned the table onto my head. But I can still throw chairs at you."
Charles Magellean: "Watcha gonna do? Invite my worst nightmare here to battle in your place?"
Kuja Tribal: "A shame... this place is devoid of most useful relics... Oh... wait... what's this? The Masamune..."
Metal Man (GM): He picks up Sephiroth's Masamune.
Kuja Tribal: "I forgot... you can still slice things into slices in this realm. I should experiment on... you."
Metal Man (GM): He idly slices a pedestal in two. It falls onto the floor and disintegrates.
Kuja Tribal: "You can't even scream after being hit by this... because you'll be dust instead."
Metal Man (GM): Kuja runs towards you, Charles. What do you do now? (Note; almost done with this session)
Kuja Tribal: "For... The Thirteen Gentlemen... who are not dead!"
Charles Magellean: "You're against a converted and a person, who you can't control, who's has... this!" *He emulates... Omega Roy's Counter.*
Metal Man (GM): *COUNTER.*
Charles Magellean: *Slash!*
Metal Man (GM): Kuja is actually sent backwards... the Masamune clatters to the ground. Kuja is sliced into two... they merely remerge.
Kuja Tribal: "So... you're using the moves which I intentionally disabled. I guess Slytock wasn't good enough. Very well... you seem to defy both me and time."
Charles Magellean: "...and time? Your mind games cannot fool me..."
Kuja Tribal: "Those moves should not work any more. They become stale with time. I made it so. I was there when they were first recorded. I see everything... for I have gone through three existences. I started from the creation of the universe... very pretty, that."
Charles Magellean: "Did you see the existence of a user who wasn't a Smasher or Quester? Well... here I am!" *He winds up an Omega DK Giant Punch.*
Metal Man (GM): *SMASH* You punch him backwards... he still stands.
Charles Magellean then punches.
Kuja Tribal: "Before I leave... there is one issue you have. The Questers are currently doing everything I want them to do. You will have to destroy them to stop me."
Metal Man (GM): Kuja disappears.
F.A.Y.T.H.: "We are lucky... Kuja is powerless here. We can live peacefully here, that is, whenever we visit. I would like to come with you to The Second Moon."
Charles Magellean: "I am not sure how Bob would react. But... let us go."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "Warp gate online."
Metal Man (GM): An orange gate opens.
F.A.Y.T.H.: "My information has been sent through the portal. You merely need to activate it."
Charles Magellean enters it. He requests that the Hymn of the Fayth remain playing on the satellite.
F.A.Y.T.H.: "Request accepted."
Charles Magellean: "Thank you."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "I shall also reorganize this place to be more... of a temple."
Charles Magellean falls through time and space to return to his moon.
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* ...This is not a pretty picture to return to.
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Sir! Axiom of Balance Forces are attacking! They just... appeared out of nowhere! We're holding, but they say something about a corrupted leader... someone who defied Kuja's way."
Charles Magellean: "So... we have garnered their personal attention."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "The beasts of the planet are also attacking them... but there's too many! A weird canister appeared, too... it contains something named 'FAYTH'... you may activate it if you wish."
Charles Magellean: "Bob... it is the old SIMBER. He is now converted."
Metal Man (GM): Outside, you see an endless amount of tanks, airships, suited people... and the like. They mindlessly and viciously attack the force field, even though they often die in the process.
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "...Well... that is good. We need all the help we can get. Activate him... we need help here! Shields are at 55%!"
Charles Magellean: "So then... Kuja does not like a person that defies him and time."
Metal Man (GM): *BAM.*
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Shields at 30%!"
Charles Magellean: "Or even a person who had him on the ropes. I should say... a very slight upper hand." *He opens the canister.*
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "They're just pouring out... those blasts of white energy are also appearing for no reason!"
Metal Man (GM): *GLOW* A rainbow light... and the hymn of Fayth... enter the room.
F.A.Y.T.H.: "Do not fear. I have a way to stop the attacks. Our main weapon... is the shields. I have put together a set of instructions..."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "This is insane! Controlled overload and self destruction of our own shields?"
Charles Magellean: "I have believe in the Fayth."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "The ripple effect will disable their machines temporarily, and destroy anything that gets too close."
Ricky: "They're getting rather close! Shields are losing power!"
Charles Magellean: "Do so."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "...Fine... fine... ... " *Grumbles.*
Computer: "Shield generators are outside safe limits... Current events are outside physics."
Ricky: "Outside... Physics? Good God! What is this?"
Metal Man (GM): *BZZT* *KBZZT* *BZZZOOOOOOOM!!!* A semi-loud electronic noise is heard.
Charles Magellean: "Our beliefs are manifesting in a physical form."
Metal Man (GM): A blindingly bright wave of plasma is shot outwards at the incoming enemies.
Charles Magellean shields his eyes.
Metal Man (GM): The lights flitter in and out. The machines and people are vaporized. However... a large amount of white rays are flying in at it.
Kuja Tribal: *Projected voice* "I AM THE ONLY FAITH!!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): *CRACKOOOM* The two energies collide full on... and... neutralize. No destruction is caused. The portals are shut by the wave, though. The lights flicker some more... a few explode at random... then everything returns to normal.
Ricky: "...By George... that just did it!"
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Impossible... we violated physics... almost killed ourselves... and we won?"
F.A.Y.T.H.: "This is the true weapon against Kuja. Not Magitek... not relics... but faith. His equations have been damaged... but there is more work to be done."
Charles Magellean: "We must be aware now."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Can't... be... this is just amazing... he said... Have Faith..."
Charles Magellean: "Kuja has now realized us as more than an annoyance now."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "...And... his own saying was a secret weapon against him?"
Ricky: "Ironic, isn't it? Just like he'd want it..."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "I have begun automating procedures that will protect us against further attack."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Well... time to repair those shields... we may need to explode them again."
Metal Man (GM): And so... the base returns to normal operation.
Charles Magellean: "First Grodus attacked with magitek... And now the Axiom's forces themselves."
Metal Man (GM): Locos: Whenever you want, we can pause for now. Everything past this point is at your whim.
Charles Magellean: "Bob, seek out the next relic. I will be resting."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Doing so."
Charles Magellean: .oO(I have sabotaged Kuja not once, but twice now...)
F.A.Y.T.H.: "And with this holy day... April 17th... the Awakening of Faith has begun! Errr... 18th."
Charles Magellean: .oO(And he sent his own forces here? Have I become that much a third?)
Metal Man (GM): And so... a mere expedition to a satellite for a relic began a holy war against Kuja. Who'da thunk it?
Charles Magellean: .oO(It will be a matter of time until the heads of Zio, Gerald, Grodus, and Kuja attack me in person.)
Charles Magellean: .oO(I can no longer stay out of his affairs...) "Is it true that we can no longer become neutral?...Perhaps this is the right thing to do... even if I am not on Nintendus." *END.*
Metal Man (GM): So, we starting? Okay...
VG is... wait; where IS VG anyway?
Metal Man (GM): Okay... now... for background! The Questers are lost in the desert... VG, himself, was shopping at an item store, but fell into... a portal. He's now also lost in the desert.
VG somehow got lost in the desert... great.
Digifanatic is still at full health, having to get off in the beginning of a battle.
Metal Man (GM): The desert is arid... the air dry... and all of you would feel incredibly small in comparison to the endless sand dunes.
Tetra: "Hey, VG! Why're you here?"
VG is already small... only three feet, one inch you know! "I somehow fell through a portal... what exactly has been going on?"
Aribar has on a very fine shirt of chainmail. This light chain is made from Mithril and is enchanted, therefore it gives off a dim blue glow. The elf continues towards the Dead Man's Table. "It's bad luck to be you, Veegee... We've rescued a Magitek orb I believe, but now we're lost."
Digifanatic: "Uh... yeah..."
Aribar: "We're makest for a high rock formation, Dead Man's Table I think it is called, to find our way out of this desert."
VG: "...did you guys try the Dexes?"
Tetra: "Yeah. The signal from our dexes seems to be jammed by the sandstorm. We think higher ground may give us a better signal."
Digifanatic: "Might work."
Metal Man (GM): You see a smooth area of rock ahead.
Digifanatic: "Hey, this looks like it." *He tries INT checking to see if it is.*
VG: "Wait Digi... it could be a mirage."
Metal Man (GM): You see a real ridge, all right.
Digifanatic: "Looks affirmative, but... You might be right."
Tetra: "Let's go."
VG nods. He follows in... third position.
Metal Man (GM): Who's in front?
Tetra is right in front of VG.
Metal Man (GM): So that leaves Ari or Digi for pole position.
Aribar follows last.
VG would think Digi would be in front... he sees it.
Digifanatic: "Eh, whatever." *He gets ahead and starts heading forward.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi: Welcome to quicksand. Population: You.
Digifanatic: "Worst can be a--oh boy..."
Aribar: "...Having trouble?"
Tetra tries to help Digi.
Aribar: "...Move!" *The elf tries to cast Magic Teleport to get Digi back from the quicksand.*
VG has a separate idea if need be. He prepares... the Duct Tape.
Metal Man (GM): Hmmm... Digi: A STR check is bad in this case. Struggling makes things worse.
Tetra tries to help Digi out of the quicksand.
Metal Man (GM): Digi is up to his torso: Begin other things! Tetra: STR check.
Digifanatic: "Dah... this is insane."
Metal Man (GM): Tetra is dragged into the quicksand! Next person! There's two people... Digi is up to his neck... Tetra up to his shins.
Tetra: "I've got yo--AAAGHHH!"
Aribar: "...Move!" *The elf tries to cast Magic Teleport to get Digi back from the quicksand.*
VG moves it... he really should have done his idea first.
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* Digi is saved... but Tetra is now up to his knees in sand!
VG: "Let me help Aribar!"
Digifanatic: "Thanks, man. Sorry I made you do that. Desert does that to people."
Tetra: "Help! I don't want to die!"
VG rolls some Duct Tape off, and attempts to throw the "end" to Tetra. (SPD or STR for throwing like this? I still have the roll with me) He will use a lucky.
Metal Man (GM): it lands on Tetra. You may now do one of two things. 1. Pull on it. 2. Have Tetra try to climb up it. Either way, the only difference is who does the STR check.
VG has the higher STR... he attempts to pull Tetra out.
Metal Man (GM): VG has the strength of an old man! Thus, he is pulled in... and Tetra is up to his torso!
VG has lost about...1/3 of his roll!
Metal Man (GM): Digi et Aribar: What do you do with the sinking people?
Aribar Magic Teleports Tetra up.
VG: "Sorry about that... I'm not used to this Duct Tape yet."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar: That's good... but you sent Tetra straight up into the air... into which he fell back into the quicksand. Which is now only up to his shins.
Aribar: "...Dah! Wrong location."
VG just doesn't really move much.
Tetra: "I'm gonna die. ç_ç Again."
Aribar downs a Green Potion and tries again: This time trying to put him behind Aribar and Digi.
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* It works! ...One side effect. Aribar and Digi are splashed with wet sand.
Digifanatic: "Dah... sorry for all the problems..."
VG has his own idea... he attempts Quick Attacking out.
Metal Man (GM): VG: Try it!
Aribar jokingly says, "You're fired!" to Digi.
Digifanatic gets a chuckle out of it.
VG should at least be somewhat in the air to double jump... wait; double jumping is impossible after Quick Attack... he prays.
Tetra is saved! "Great. I got sand in my jumpsuit."
Metal Man (GM): VG flies out... and lands atop Digi. *PLOP* Wet sand everywhere.
VG: "Sorry about that."
Digifanatic: "Ack... at least I'm not a chick magnet."
Tetra: "I am so gonna need a shower after this."
Digifanatic: "It's okay. It's not like Bowser landed on top of me."
Aribar scrapes some of the sand off of his new armor and looks around...
VG attempts a regular jump first to see if he can get some air... he shouldn't be THAT far in...
VG will midair if need be.
Metal Man (GM): VG leaps down a sand dune... Wheeeee!!!! VG slides down a short sand dune after leaping off of Digi.
Aribar looks left and right to see if he can find out where some 'solid' ground is.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar: Dead ahead looks safe to you.
Aribar: "Hrm... I think if we go straight we'll cut through the quicksand... I think there should be a narrow bridge of regular sand in the middle of the quicksand."
Metal Man (GM): But to Aribar, it looks like the quicksand has hardened! ...To make a bridge. Yes.
Aribar starts forward. "Kinda looks like it hardened..."
Tetra: "Elf guy, stop!"
VG comes back to the others... or at least, as close as he can without falling in (using built-in trap check)
Aribar tries to stop.
Metal Man (GM): VG does so, avoiding such things as a deadly stone! Aribar: You stop.
Aribar: "Huh? Why? The name's Aribar, by the way."
Tetra: "You're about to walk into quicksand!"
Aribar: "...It looks hardened here!" *He continues forward.*
Metal Man (GM): *Squish* Aribar: The bridge is real quicksand! Aaaaahhhhh! Tetra: You see a bridge, right next to where Aribar stepped.
Aribar: "...Don't say it. Teleport!" *The elf tries to teleport forward and above the sand.*
VG attempts to scan for all assorted quicksand areas.
Tetra shakes his head. "Hardened sand? Gotta be a mirage..." He still sees the "bridge" but doesn't go for it.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar teleports out.
VG: .oO(What is with this desert anyway?)
Metal Man (GM): He's safe now.
Tetra looks for a REAL way past the quicksand.
VG is doing that as well... but with the Dex instead; he's on the other side of Aribar if he remembers right.
Metal Man (GM): VG: You detect, using the dex... An invisible bridge! Off to the left, of course. You can even see sand sitting on it.
VG wonders if his dex is going cuckoo now... he looks to the left and attempts to find this bridge... huh? sand is floating? He moves towards this slowly, Mancer Senses tingling... maybe (again, trap checking)
Metal Man (GM): Behold! You see the same bridge! No traps on this bridge.
Tetra: "Guys! I see sand floating in mid-air! An invisible bridge!" *He steps onto the invisible bridge.*
VG walks across the bridge... of invisibility. "Follow me."
Digifanatic follows the two a bit reluctantly, but figures he might as well.
Tetra: "Why would there be an invisible bridge? This doesn't make sense..."
VG: "How long have you been in this world anyway Tetra?"
Aribar: "Maybe someone lives here?"
Metal Man (GM): The bridge works. There's a bunch of steps, up the steep cliff...
Tetra heads up the steps.
VG follows Tetra.
Aribar starts up the steps behind Veegee.
Metal Man (GM): The steps are long and arduous... You can see that you're getting above the sandstorm, though.
Digifanatic follows again.
Tetra climbs to the top.
Aribar hrms, looking about this location intently.
VG continues to follow... he is ready to get out the Shovel Claws if need be.
Aribar: "...Can bedsheets fly?"
Metal Man (GM): You reach the top.... It's a nice... flat rock place.. ..There's something wrong about this place. INT checks, everyone.
Julian Sawyer: *Runs up to the group* "You didn't have to leave me behind, ya know. I can walk."
VG will suffer.
Metal Man (GM): None of you actually see anything. Nothing at all. VG, however, sees something different. A... mastodon about to destroy everybody!
Aribar opens his dex and tries to see if he can contact Mewtwo.
VG wonders... what tha?!? "AAAAAAAAAH!"
Julian Sawyer: "..."
VG: "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" *He runs AWAY!*
Tetra heads further onto the plateau.
Julian Sawyer: *Grabs VG by the hat.*
Tetra: "What are you talking about, Mr. VG?"
Aribar blinks, looking weirdly at VG.
Julian Sawyer: "Stop that."
VG attempts to break free.
Metal Man (GM): Opposed SPD checks.
Aribar: "Huh?" *The elf goes back to his Dex.*
VG: "Do you want that Mastodon to kill us?!?"
Metal Man (GM): *Grab.*
VG is fighting in vain.
Julian Sawyer: "There's no mastodon..."
Aribar: "...What's a mas... Masterdawn?"
VG takes another look...
Tetra: "Mastodon is a prehistoric creature. And there isn't one here."
Metal Man (GM): VG: Another INT check. VG: ...You see nothing... besides sand collecting on some invisible cylinder?
Aribar: "Prehistoric? ... I must have skipped some lessons in history class."
Julian Sawyer: "It's a giant hairy elephant."
VG: "...okay, NOW the desert heat is getting to me... the sand is somehow forming around something I can't see! I'll show you guys I'm not crazy!" *He gets out of Julian's grip and goes to this... invisible thingy.*
Aribar: "So if you ARE right, you're walking into danger?"
Metal Man (GM): VG runs up to the invisible thingy.
Aribar closes and puts away his dex, guessing it won't work.
VG attempts to get a look at the "outline" of this cylinder... if it can serve any significance.
Metal Man (GM): It's... like a tower. Do you touch it?
VG doubts there is a trap... no trap rolls just yet He attempts to first "touch" it lightly, to see what would happen... better to touch first, move later. .oO(I'm going to regret this...).
Julian Sawyer: *Prepares to move out of the way.*
Metal Man (GM): It's solid... you touch it without a problem.
Aribar starts towards the edge of the plateau. He tries to look about to see if there are any towns, oases, or green grass about.
VG: "There IS something here!"
Metal Man (GM): Aribar: It can't be... endless desert!
Tetra: "Forget it." *He attempts to contact Mewtwo on his dex.*
Aribar groans... "We're lost and the Smash Dexes STILL don't work!"
VG attempts to GRAB the tower now.
Metal Man (GM): Tetra: No signal! VG: ...*Glow* The tower shimmers... and reveals itself. A large, metallic & glass monstrosity.
VG looks to the others.
Metal Man (GM): 10 towers tall, with a large broadcasting satellite atop it. You're staring at the locked front door.
VG: "Well, NOW do you guys believe me?"
Aribar blinks and looks at the tower... "What IS that?!"
Tetra: "A satellite dish!"
Julian Sawyer: "..."
Tetra: "Maybe we can connect the dexes to it to get a signal!"
Julian Sawyer: "Does anyone have a Door Opener 3000?"
VG: "I didn't have enough time to get one of them."
Aribar walks over to the door and knocks.
Digifanatic: "Oh nuts..."
Metal Man (GM): No response from the door.
Tetra looks to see if there's a control panel somewhere.
VG: "I'll see if there is a way to open it from within."
Metal Man (GM): No control panels.
VG swallows... a Molecular Pill.
Aribar: "Want me to follow you, VG?"
Julian Sawyer: "We'll just have to knock it down, then."
VG then goes THROUGH the door.
Metal Man (GM): VG merges through the door... and on the inside, he sees a simple and easy 'unseal door' switch.
VG pushes the 'unseal door' switch.
Metal Man (GM): The door unseals, with some mist coming out.
Tetra: "Alright! Good job, Mr. VG!"
Julian Sawyer: "Or not. Nice one, Veeg." *Heads in.*
Digifanatic: "Ah." *He follows Julian.*
Metal Man (GM): It slides open, revealing the dark inside, which is only lit from the outside, making it mostly a lot of shadows.
Tetra goes in and looks for the power switch.
Metal Man (GM): There's an elevator in the center... a platform elevator.
VG has no clue how long this pill will last... but he doesn't attempt to abuse it; he follows the others.
Metal Man (GM): Surrounding it is a circle of consoles... all of which are deactivated.
VG gets a look at these consoles.
Aribar hrms... He steps onto the platform and looks up.
Tetra looks for a way to restore power.
Metal Man (GM): You see a locked hatch that blocks the elevator from going up. Tetra: INT check. VG: You see a ton of unlabeled buttons.
Julian Sawyer: *Looks for a key or something.*
VG: .oO(Hmm... buttons... glad Gibby isn't here.)
Metal Man (GM): Tetra: Based upon the large amount of power cables in one console, you reason that it controls power... and figure out the power button.
VG looks at a DIFFERENT console to see if it's similar.
Metal Man (GM): Julian: No keys. Nothing analog, even.
Tetra pushes the power button.
Julian Sawyer: *Tries kicking the hatch.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian: The hatch is up 10 feet. And made of titanium. Electrical sounds are heard. Lights slowly flicker on. The door out seals shut.
Tetra backs away after hitting the button, just in case.
Metal Man (GM): Air conditioning activates.
Digifanatic: "Well, this is okay."
Julian Sawyer: "..."
Metal Man (GM): The consoles light up... still no labels.
Tetra: "That worked well."
Julian Sawyer: "Except for the door locking."
Tetra tries to figure out the console.
Metal Man (GM): The entire area is lit up, revealing some reception-desk like couches near the windows.
VG: "Hmm... anyone have an idea what these buttons are supposed to be?"
Metal Man (GM): Tetra: Another INT check. HULK SMASH RED BUTTON
Tetra: "This red button looks like it might work well."
Julian Sawyer: "Try finding the one that deactivates that hatch. If we get to the dish, we can use it to boost the Smash Dex's signal and get Mewtwo to warp us out."
VG: "WAIT Tetra."
VG: "I really doubt the Red button would work... it just sounds... too inviting." *He looks at all of the different buttons... colors, shapes, whatnot.*
Julian Sawyer: "NEVER hit the red buttons..." *Tries figuring out the button that would unlock the hatch.*
Metal Man (GM): INT check, again ..The mysterious green button it is.
Aribar looks at the various consoles to locate a button to help their cause...
Metal Man (GM): Aribar: That blue button looks helpful.
Julian Sawyer: "Green buttons are generally more useful than red ones..."
Tetra looks to see what buttons are there.
Aribar: "I've found something... A blue button. It looks like it has a different use than the others."
VG is still trying to see what are the available buttons to hit... for quite a while.
Metal Man (GM): Too many to count. An endless amount of shapes, colors, and possible uses. There are no labels or instruction manuals.
Digifanatic tries to see who he will agree with.
Julian Sawyer: "Ari, you try your button first."
Metal Man (GM): Digi: You agree with red... yeah.
Aribar presses his blue button.
VG: "...I'm with Ari's decision though."
Metal Man (GM): *GLOW.*
Tetra: "Ari, you try your button."
Computer: "Communications satellite activated."
Digifanatic: "Yeah... Hulk Sm--never mind."
Julian Sawyer: "Alright!"
Tetra: "It worked!"
Metal Man (GM): Three holo-screens pop up. Information in binary is scrolling past on them.
Tetra tries to decode it.
Metal Man (GM): Random computer noises can be heard.
Julian Sawyer: *Looks for a place to hook up his Dex to the dish.*
Metal Man (GM): Tetra: Well, it's second nature for you... you see... (In PM)
Aribar: "...What is all of that gibberish? Ones and zeroes? ... 's'hat a math problem?"
Tetra: "I've got it. Wait a sec..."
Metal Man (GM): Julian: Not even a USB port!
Julian Sawyer: "Dang it..."
Metal Man (GM): No ports or anything to hook a dex to.
VG has no clue what the binary stuff means.
Tetra: "Eisnaught? Why would there be a connection to Eisnaught out here?"
Julian Sawyer: "...Eisnaught?"
VG: "...okay, is anyone here thinking either 'Weapon of Mass Destruction' or 'Item of Salvation' here?"
Tetra: "I can read it easy. It says 'Primary Order Code for GR is being downloaded.'"
Julian Sawyer: "I'd have to go with Item Of Salvation. But you never know."
VG: "And what is this Primary Order Code... and who is GR?"
Tetra: "It's not a weapon or a savior. It seems like it's just a database connection."
Julian Sawyer: "I'm gonna try that green button..."
Tetra: "Try pressing the green button now."
Julian Sawyer: *Does just that.*
Metal Man (GM): *Glow again* Red alarms go off.
Tetra: "Oh crap. You just activated the intruder detection!"
Metal Man (GM): Four turrets pop out of the ceiling.
Digifanatic: "Dang it."
Julian Sawyer: "Thaaaat's not good..."""
Metal Man (GM): *BATTLE'Z* SPDs, everybody?
Julian Sawyer: "Why would a security system have a green button, anyway?!"
VG: "Opposite place or something."
Tetra: "More likely the red button would have been even worse."
VG: "I think the red button might have helped if the green button hurt."
Julian Sawyer: "Can we just concentrate on not getting shot at?!"
Metal Man (GM): Aribar's Turn! Wah!
Aribar: "Lightning! Bolt!" *The elf casts two Electric Elemental Blasts: Both at different turrets. He then downs a Green Potion.*
Metal Man (GM): http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/sega/genesis/boss_mix.mid *BLAMMO.*
Tetra: "What a wimpy security system."
VG has a hunch; most turrets can't really... well... MOVE. He tosses a Star Egg towards the group to prove his hunch. (need the DC thing for the egg?)
Aribar: "Oh, don't think that I may just be strong..."
Metal Man (GM): Only 1 is hit.
Julian Sawyer: "..."
VG is angry... he tries that again!
Julian Sawyer: "How the heck could that miss?"
Metal Man (GM): All hit!
Tetra: "I shouldn't be surprised. This is only a communication waystation. The security would be weak."
Julian Sawyer: "There you go."
VG uses action three to get in Reflector position.
Aribar: "...It looked like a fluke the first time."
Tetra: "Just be careful. If you overdo it we might hurt the tower itself."
Digifanatic: "I guess the turrets can retract pretty well."
Metal Man (GM): Note: They can be hit by all attacks. You don't need to jump or anything.
Julian Sawyer: *Plucks his fedora off his head, and squeezes the feather, popping out a blade along the rim. He then throws, attacking Each turret once, except 1 and 2, who are attacked twice.*
Metal Man (GM): Miss hit miss miss miss miss. One hit. Turret turns! The four turrets decide that to divide and conquer is lame. Instead, they all shoot at Aribar.
VG wanted to be shot at! He can't get much use of Reflector... no matter the build.
Metal Man (GM): 25 damage per hit... crit misses have no ill effect.
Tetra: "Mr. Elf Guy, are you alright?" *He thinks he really needs to ask the elf his name.*
Aribar: *Twitch. He dies.*
Metal Man (GM): Mr. Elf Guy is now Mr. Crater.
Tetra uses his first action to try to find out how to deactivate the defenses.
Metal Man (GM): RED BUTTON SMASH ...Or you could just press the green button again.
Tetra presses the green button again.
Metal Man (GM): The turrets go up into the ceiling.
Tetra: "Well. That was fun. Someone scrap up the elf."
VG: "...I wasted two Star Eggs for THAT?!?"
Metal Man (GM): Everyone gains: 100 EXP
Aribar slowly gets back up... "Uuuuh... Am I still alive?"
Julian Sawyer: "..."
Tetra: "It doesn't matter. The readout says they're repairing the turrets you destroyed now anyway."
Digifanatic: "Gee whiz..."
Julian Sawyer: "How many fingers am I holding up?"
Aribar: "One... Two... Five... No idea."
Julian Sawyer: "Close enough."
Tetra tries to find which button will open an outgoing communication.
Aribar shakes his head to clear his thoughts.
Metal Man (GM): You find one. Yup.
Tetra presses said button.
VG can't really do much right now... he just waits.
Metal Man (GM): ...Kuja's face appears on a screen.
Kuja Tribal: "What's this? A call from an unknown station?"
Kuja Tribal: "Who's there? Who's this?"
Digifanatic closes his eyes and facepalms.
Tetra: "Um... hi! Can you save us? We're stranded in the desert."
Kuja Tribal: "Aha! There you are! The Questers are mine at last!"
Julian Sawyer: "...CLOSE THAT WINDOW!"
Tetra presses the same button.
Kuja Tribal: "I'll dispatch all the deadly and destructive weapons to you as soon as I get a trace on this re---"
Metal Man (GM): *Blinks out.*
Tetra: "Well. That was close."
VG: "It might already be too late..."
Tetra looks for a more useful button.
VG: "What are we trying to find in here anyway?"
Tetra: "Beats me."
Metal Man (GM): The weird handle looks fun to pull.
Julian Sawyer: "A way to contact Mewtwo so we can get the hell out of here."
Tetra pulls the handle.
Metal Man (GM): The hatch above opens... and the elevator lights up.
Tetra: "Awesome! The elevators are active!"
Metal Man (GM): It has two holo-buttons on it... '1'
Julian Sawyer: "That works."
Metal Man (GM): and '2'
Tetra: "But we can't go above floor 2. We need to go to the security bank on floor two."
Julian Sawyer: *Steps on the elevator and hits button 2 After everyone gets on.*
VG gets to the elevator door before... okay, is this another trap?
Metal Man (GM): No trap, nope. This place is eerily low-guarded. Tetra:Yes.
VG goes in... this is just too... situational or something.
Tetra: "You guys, I think I should stay down here just in case. We can stay in contact by the dexes."
Julian Sawyer: "No way. You're the computer expert, you're going up."
Tetra: "I just thought the computer expert should stay with... the computers... And away from the mechanical behemoths of death..."
Julian Sawyer: "Whatever..."
Tetra: "Fine. I'll go."
Digifanatic: "Only problem is Kuja knows where we are."
Tetra gets on the elevator. "Not necessarily. I think we cut off before he could trace us."
Digifanatic: "You can never tell with that guy."
Julian Sawyer: "He didn't finish his sentence, therefore he couldn't track us."
Tetra: "If he does know we're here then no place in the tower would be safe. So it doesn't matter."
VG: "He might have been able to track us even if he didn't finish."
VG: "I mean... think. Aren't all broadcasts of any type... well, don't they have a unique signal?"
Tetra: "True. In that case I guess all we can do is hurry, yes?"
Metal Man (GM): So then... who's on the elevator? You may go to floor 2, now.
Julian Sawyer: "Can we just hurry up?"
VG is on the elevator.
Tetra presses the button for floor 2.
Julian Sawyer: *Hits the button after everyone that wants to get on is on.*
Digifanatic is as well.
Metal Man (GM): The elevator goes up. *CLICK.*
Computer: "Welcome to floor 2."
Tetra: "Thank you, computer."
Julian Sawyer: "Thanks..." *Looks around...*
Metal Man (GM): This room is also darkened... you see the rough silhouette of some gigantic box on the left side of the room.
VG sensed no trap... but was this a trap?
Tetra looks for the power to this floor.
Metal Man (GM): There's a dim buzzing heard here, too. Tetra: INT check. You find... a 'Master Power Reset' switch. It looks handy.
Tetra presses the switch.
Computer: "Power to all levels has been restored."
Julian Sawyer: "...'Zat good or bad?"
Metal Man (GM): The room lights up... revealing a bunch of power regulators near Tetra, and a... security computer thing on the left.
Tetra then heads over to the security bank and looks at it.
Metal Man (GM): It's got intense cryptographic key stuff going on... It requires an eye scan, a DNA scan, and a 128-character long password.
Tetra: "Whoah... what is up with weird communication stations and weird crap?" *He tries to hack the security bank.*
VG: .oO(...sugar; no way Tetra can pull that off.)
Digifanatic: "This must be one real important base."
Metal Man (GM): Even with that roll....
Julian Sawyer: "The weird part."
Metal Man (GM): Well, your main problem is that the console is not a console! It morphs into a robot!
Tetra: "Son of a monkey. We're all dead."
Computer: "Security alert on floor 2. Red Herring has been activated."
Digifanatic: "Red Herring?"
Tetra: "Obviously. This was a trap."
VG should have sensed something... he became too oblivious.
Julian Sawyer: "We should kill it then."
Tetra: "The 'security bank' was just a decoy. I hacked it perfectly but... well, you can see."
VG: "...I still say the Red Button was the right one."
Julian Sawyer: "Then go back downstairs and hit it, Dr. Genius."
Tetra: "Can we just fight the giant monster, please?"
VG: .oO(Is that a good idea? (INTing... this takes a whole action due to all of this) )
Digifanatic: "Sure thing."
Metal Man (GM): Red button: Bad Idea Fighting Robot: Not many other things you could do, anyway, sort of idea.
VG: "...alright, perhaps I'm turning into Gibby by mistake here. I'll show you that I'm still good old VG." *He gives Julian a new item: Carbos! Tetra gains Calcium!*
Julian Sawyer: "This is gonna help! Thanks Veeg."
Tetra: "What's this, Mr. VG?"
Metal Man (GM): Getting soda. Do yer attack while I get soda.
Julian Sawyer: *Downs the Carbos Follows that speed boost with a nice Beatbox.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit hit hit!
Julian Sawyer: *Follows that up with a Breakdown.*
Metal Man (GM): Wonder crit hit. 84 damage.
Tetra raises his hand toward 'Red Herring' and fires four photon shots from his fingers at the bot.
Metal Man (GM): Hit hit miss hit. Crit miss, eh? Well, anyway. Hit crit hit crit miss hit. *BAM* A stray shot awakens ANOTHER Red Herring!
Julian Sawyer: "...Fucking perfect."
Metal Man (GM): Now then... damage on Red Herring 1?
Tetra: "...I am speechless."
VG just can't believe it...
Digifanatic is just rolling his eyes now...
Tetra tries to Dex the Red Herrings.
Metal Man (GM): Another Red Herring acti---well, no, I'm not that cruel.
HP: 84/300% 0/300%
Laser Blaster: 2 d20+15 50 damage per hit.
Of course, these are dumb security robots.
Digifanatic: "Okay, they're not that bad vitality-wise..."
VG: "Just don't bring out more of them."
Julian Sawyer: "Or AC wise."
Tetra: "Sorry. I guess I should've aimed a little better."
Metal Man (GM): Red Herring 1 attacks... Tetra... with lasers. 50 damage per hit. Red Herring 2 attacks...
VG gets ready to dodge.
Metal Man (GM): VG. CRIT miss. It gets a foot stuck in the floor, halving its AC!
VG suffers the first one... but second one is below AC... and is crit missed! YES!
Julian Sawyer: "Alright! Veeg, you wouldn't happen to have any super sneakers, would you?"
Digifanatic sees the Herrings on the ground... and tries to use the best strategy possible. *A Quake Smash Fire Punch.*
VG: "I would."
Metal Man (GM): Hit and hit.
Digifanatic uses his second action to SM Punch the Herring that is not lodged in the ground.
Julian Sawyer: "Can I have them?"
Digifanatic then uses his third action to Microwave the Red Herring whose AC is halved.
VG: "I can spare some if that's what you mean... but I'm not giving ALL of them away."
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Julian Sawyer: "I'll just take one. Pair. One pair."
VG activates/gives Julian some Super Sneakers for action 1. He then throws an Ice Block to Red Herring 1. (aka, the one that's not with half AC)
Metal Man (GM): Hit! Uhhh... now there's a good question... I say it freezes.
VG goes to Reflector Mode for action 3.
Digifanatic takes a look around. "We're pretty productive right now..."
Tetra: "We can finish these guys no problem."
Julian Sawyer: *Is like a blur as he rushes Rh1 and and attacks with 2 Beatboxes, thanks to the carbos and Sneakers Luckies that 14*
Metal Man (GM): Let's see... Hit hit hit hit hit hit. Julian: Damage? Your turn over?
Julian Sawyer: *O-O-O-OVERDRIVE.*
Tetra: "I think #1 is pretty busted. I hope this doesn't destroy it. I kinda wanted to reformat it and make it a pet."
Digifanatic: "Do you even think you could do that?"
Tetra taps some buttons on his gauntlet and overclocks Red Herring #1.
Metal Man (GM): It explodes, da.
VG: "Wouldn't your EMP wave just hurt it if it's with you though?"
Metal Man (GM): *KABOOM.*
Julian Sawyer: *Ducks the flying ice/robot shards.*
Tetra watches the explosion. "Darn."
Digifanatic: "Hey, it does help to have a man of your qualities around."
Julian Sawyer: "Especially because we're facing robots every single time..."
Tetra uses his last action to fire another barrage of photon shots at the trapped Red Herring.
Metal Man (GM): All hit. The trapped machine fires at... Tetra.
Metal Man (GM): 50 damage per hit.
Tetra cries out and drops to the ground in a heap.
Digifanatic jumps in front of the first, taking the hits for him.
Metal Man (GM): Digi flies in and takes the hits for you.
Digifanatic: "Don't need to lose a guy like you around."
Tetra watches Digi take the hits.
Digifanatic: *LAST STAND AND MEGA RUSH ACTIVATED.*
Tetra: "Are... you alright?"
Digifanatic: "Uh... yeah, I think."
Tetra: "Thanks for that. I owe you one."
Digifanatic: "Not a problem. I hadn't been touched. I was gonna get hit sometime or another."
Tetra: "Heh. Thanks anyway. I'll repay you someday if we survive this."
Digifanatic uses the hits he took to his advantage... *He slams the Herring with another Fire Punch.*
VG: .oO(Drat; can't use Megalixer)
Digifanatic follows it up with another Super Mario Punch...
Metal Man (GM): Okay.
Digifanatic then tries whacking the Herring around with the Golf Club...
VG: .oO(Sorry Digi...)
Metal Man (GM): Go VG?
Julian Sawyer: *Walks over to RH2, and grabs it by the head. Julian rears back, his right fist glowing with energy, and delivers a powerful haymaker: KO Punch.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit?
Julian Sawyer: *Then steps back and lets loose a flurry of punches and kicks, ending with a straight punch to the head again: Speedbag.*
Metal Man (GM): All hit. The machine is beaten to a pulp.
Computer: "Security check complete. All floors open."
VG breathes a sigh of relief.
Tetra: "Wait... the security check is us having to beat up their robots?"
Julian Sawyer: *Actually punches the robot's head off on that last one.*
Tetra: "That's some security..."
Digifanatic: "Thank goodness that's over..."
Metal Man (GM): 300 EXP for defeating the robots.
Tetra takes the robot's head.
Julian Sawyer: *Walks back to the group, rubbing his knuckles.*
Metal Man (GM): You may now go to any floor you want.
VG: *VG's EXP: 18888*
Julian Sawyer: "That's a hard head..."
Metal Man (GM): Pat, Digi, VG, and Aribar are on the elevator in the tower. The elevator has been completely unlocked; you may go to the top by pressing the holographic '10' button.
VG wonders where Tetra is... perhaps he somehow found an escape path?
Metal Man (GM): You want to get to the top, so that you can connect the dexs to a huge antenna atop this tower, to communicate with home base. Tetra has, yes, mysteriously disappeared.
VG: "Alright guys... let's get to the top." *He pushes the 10 button.*
VG gets a look at who is with him...
Metal Man (GM): The elevator begins to go upwards.
VG thinks one of every build is in here...
Metal Man (GM): The elevator reaches the top. There's a large screen there... no windows in here. It's lit by some ceiling lights. There's a control panel for the seemingly off-line computer.
VG steps out slowly... making sure he doesn't trip over any alarms or anything.
Metal Man (GM): It is remarkably... easy to use? It has an on button, a keyboard, and a mouse. It also has a reset button.
Pat scratches his head "I'm lost."
VG: "Well, towers can do that to you."
VG: "Now, does this console scream 'trap' to anyone here?"
Aribar: "Hrm... Don't know... But how do we connect our Dexes from here?"
VG: "Well, we need to turn it on. ...I'm the shortest; I'll go for it." *He moves slowly... his trap senses could be tingling.*
Metal Man (GM): You tingle a lot! Something... bad... will happen, if you use the console.
Metal Man (GM): The badness seems to feel terrible... terrific... absolutely horrible!
Pat: "Can I use it?"
VG stops midway. "...My instinct is saying no."
VG looks around the room... perhaps there is something... well, more safe to use.
Digifanatic looks around to see if there's any else of curiosity-piquing or of noteworthy importance...
Metal Man (GM): Nope... just the console.
Digifanatic: "Oh man..."
Metal Man (GM): That is all there is. The room is empty... and has an odd smell.
Digifanatic: "Do you think we should go back down a floor or two to just take a look around?"
Aribar walks over to the console and looks at the keyboard.
Metal Man (GM): It's an English keyboard; you can understand it.
VG tries to detect this odor... something seems to be stinky here.
Metal Man (GM): The odor... is of dust... ancient dust... ... brimstone?
Pat looks about... being perceptive and all....
Metal Man (GM): You can also see the power button, which lays, covered in dust. Pat: You smell brimstone as well. You can tell this room has some sort of evil in it.
Aribar presses Ctrl, Alt, Delete.
Metal Man (GM): Brimstone is sulfur/fire/dust/magma stuff.
Pat: "There is an evil here that does not sleep."
Metal Man (GM): ...*glow.*
VG is smelling something... but what has the smell of... what the? fire...... He turns to Aribar.
Metal Man (GM): The screen turns on.
VG: "You did NOT just touch that, right?"
Metal Man (GM): http://www.vgmix.com/songs/Reu_-_I_Am_Ultimecia(Final_Fantasy_8).mp3
VG notices the turned-on screen...
Aribar: "...Uhhh... I'll lie and say I didn't."
Gerald Robotnik: "I have been awakened from my ancient sleep at last! I... lord of the Maricians... will finish the job which Kuja tried to stop me from doing..."
Pat: "Go away!"
VG: "And what job is that?"
Gerald Robotnik: "...What? THE QUESTERS revived me? Madness!"
Aribar: "Ancient sleep?"
Gerald Robotnik: "Nonetheless..."
Aribar: "What do you mean by 'ancient sleep'?"
Pat: "Go away. You smell like morning breath."
VG turns to Pat, as if saying "shush."
Gerald Robotnik: "My true self has slept for a long time... years... Sealed away, by the Questers..."
VG turns back to Gerald.
Gerald Robotnik: "I have had to use this form instead... an inferior, mindless form. But now... I can be FREE AGAIN!"
Aribar: "To do what?"
Pat: "No you can't. Go back to sleep."
VG: "I don't recall sealing you... but how many years are you talking about anyway?"
Aribar: "...Not destroy us, right?"
Metal Man (GM): The ground rumbles. The window-walls open up... showing the desert.
Gerald Robotnik: "Destroy you alone? Impossible. Now... watch the might of the Maricians!"
Computer: "Program 15-A initialized. Marician Ruin Revival Engine Online."
Aribar tries to quickly press the power button.
VG has no clue if this program is good or bad...
Metal Man (GM): ...Suddenly... various marble ruins, with blue designs, begin popping out of the desert... like that temple stage in Sonic Heroes. Aribar: It's not working! The computer shuts down... but this is no computer!
Gerald Robotnik: "My land has been awakened..."
Gerald Robotnik: "And it is time... for the final piece in the puzzle!"
Aribar: "...This is the second evil I've released in a month... Why me?"
Metal Man (GM): Suddenly... various media... of Gerald's execution... his appearances on television... his previous attacks on the Questers... they begin appearing and merging together in the center of the room.
VG: "When I say not to touch something, I mean it! DO NOT TOUCH!"
Metal Man (GM): Gerald Robotnik appears, fully alive, and in the flesh.
Gerald Robotnik: "Alive at last! My body is complete..."
Aribar steps back and unsheaths Moonlight...
VG: "Welcome back to the land of the living then."
Gerald Robotnik: "Do not reprimand Aribar... it was fate that guides this, not his will."
Digifanatic: "Oh great..."
Aribar: "...I am not controlled by fate."
Gerald Robotnik: "And it is fate... that has destroyed the four Marician swords. Swords of Dark, Light, Chaos, and Law."
Metal Man (GM): Four swords... appear around Gerald, spinning. You notice the tower around you turning to marble... to pure technology, even.
VG gets a look at these swords... man, they must be powerful.
Gerald Robotnik: "Using the power of my ancient ancestors... I merge the Sword of Light, the Sword of Darkness, the Chaos Maker, and the Chaos Breaker!"
Metal Man (GM): The four swords begin spinning faster... around Gerald. Lightning flies off of them, blasting some windows.
Metal Man (GM): ...You see water beginning to rise below, turning the nearby desert into... an ocean?
VG: "...what are you doing? Are you trying to go against nature or something?"
Gerald Robotnik: "Nature... nature killed my people! Magic destroyed my land! Technology is all that matters!"
Aribar: "...Oh? And how did this come about?"
Gerald Robotnik: "The Maricians, an off-shoot of an ancient civilization, back on... Earth, yes. Very ancient... They made great technology long ago... but were destroyed by the Greeks. Their main land, Atlantis, sunk into the sea. And you... are looking at the buildings of Atlantis... rising from the pages of history!"
Aribar: "...How? This isn't Earth..."
VG: "Wait a second..."
Metal Man (GM): The buildings are all up. They haven't swamped the entire desert, but they're a city in size.
VG: "Was Atlantis on Earth?"
