Date: 8:41:19 PM, June 13th, 2006.
Metal Man (GM): Aetos n' Stuff
Wolfman runs across all of Hyrule Field, down the path. He soon finds his way to HQ.
It's a massive octagonal dome, with evenly spaced windows.
Wolfman slows down as he approaches what looks like a big headquarters. He stops.
Metal Man (GM): The front door is, as usual, unlocked for Wolfman.
Wolfman: "Are you awake?"
Aetos nods.
Metal Man (GM): The Quester logo is on the front of it.
Wolfman was talking to Aetos, who he doesn't fully recognize for some reason.
Aetos: "First time I've been near this place. I'm excited."
Wolfman: "...if this is what I think it is, so am I. Are you well enough to walk now?"
Aetos jumps off of Wolf. "Yup" he smiles inside his helmet.
Wolfman stretches a little, feeling the weight no longer on his back.
Metal Man (GM): Aetos: Wearing a disguise, of sorts?
Wolfman is recognizable by his voice, to an extent... but the look isn't to many.
"Let's enter, shall we?"
Metal Man (GM): The front door leads into the circular R&R which surrounds the outside of the building.
Aetos: "Yup."
Wolfman enters the building first, slowly... taking things in bit by bit.
Aetos: "It seems so big..."
Metal Man (GM): You enter it... and... immediately, see Metal. Who salutes to Wolfman.
Wolfman: .oO(It really feels different being at a shorter height)
Metal Man: "Hello, sir. Many people might not recognize you, but my eyes are a bit sharper than some."
Wolfman gets a look at Metal... he does seem to remember him somewhat.
He does a salute attempt with his front right leg.
Julian Sawyer would be sitting in front of a nearby TV again, watching a game show that seems to involve some kind of catapult...
Aetos stands at attention and salutes. .oO(I hope he meant the wolf...)
Metal Man: "...Who's that you're carrying on your back?"
Wolfman: "It's been a long time..."
Metal Man: "Err... who was riding you."
*He leans casually on a wall support. It creaks a little from the weight.*
Wolfman: "He was someone I ran into during a fight in the Lost Woods."
Julian Sawyer hears the commotion nearby and turns his head "Yo! Mets! Who 'dat?"
Wolfman: "I was able to reach this place during the skirmish."
Metal Man: "I don't know... feels familiar, though."
*He takes out his dex and presses some buttons.*
"The existence of Kappa is rather bad."
Aetos: "Name's Leon Yetch sir."
Metal Man: "Leon... Yetch? Can't say I ever heard the name..."
Julian Sawyer: "...Yetch?"
Wolfman: "I don't recall picking up his name during the battle myself."
Metal Man goes into specifics, showing the file of Kappa.
"...Gerald's original plan must have been to destroy everything."
Wolfman tries to study up on this Kappa creature.
Julian Sawyer: "...Didn' he pretty much say that? Multiple times?"
Metal Man (GM): *His voice suddenly sounds more echo-y and dark* "Looks like I saved the day, then.."
Charles Magellean is finished staring into the hollowed holorooms. He begins to wander around.
Metal Man: "Well, yeah, but I though he had turned good for us at least twice. I possessed him once or twice. He seemed to have some good in him..."
Wolfman: "So... after a few years, not much has changed... except I think I'm hearing... different voices within you...?"
*He is confused.*
Metal Man: *Clears his throat* "Uhhh... Leon... Yetch. Do you want to join the Questers, or something? What you've seen is classified APN information."
" *He turns to Wolfman.*
Wolfman returns the turning... however that works.
Julian Sawyer: "Yeah, join or I'll have to beat the information outta your brain."
Metal Man: "Well..."
Charles Magellean begins walking to R&R... but he catches the eye of new ones. He goes to investigate.
Metal Man whispers to Wolfman.
He then continues leaning on the beam. "It's nice to be done with all the fighting.
Though I'm trying to warm myself up before the big CAL tournament starts up."
Aetos nods. "Yes sir! It would be an honor to join the Questers!" .oO(Feh... who's this APN?...)
Wolfman: "I'm curious, though... what exactly has changed? And what is this CAL tournament?"
Julian Sawyer: "Yeah, I was wanting to talk to you 'bout that Mets."
Wolfman: "And why does this place seem more... organized than usual?"
Metal Man: "Championship arena league. It replaced the endless Melee tournament. Well, I got my chance to fix it up when the world was saved by us. Again."
Wolfman notes some of the shelves... he recalls them being slightly messy.
SIMBER: "I manage to keep the place rather neat as well."
Wolfman: "...that wasn't what I meant."
Julian Sawyer: "Who you got lined up to commentate?"
Metal Man: "Uhhh... SIMBER... and... well. He's only a play-by-play announcer."
Julian Sawyer: "You need a color commentator?"
VG: "I thought I was going to help with the commentating!"
*Enters the room.*
Metal Man: "Sure. You can get extra salary too. Where the heck have you been?"
*He scratches his metallic head. It makes a vaguely annoying noise.*
Julian Sawyer: "Great. I commentated that match between you, Wolf, and Garrick awhile back, an' I liked that... Yeah, where you been Veeg? You learned how to make Pancakes yet?"
VG: "Still working on that Julian."
Charles Magellean comes in close, standing next to Julian and Metal... looking at the two in metal armor.
VG: "However, I have been here for quite a long time..."
Julian Sawyer: "And you STILL ain't learned how to make Pancakes?"
Wolfman chuckles.
Charles Magellean: "..."
Wolfman: "I guess some things haven't changed much."
VG: "Well, why don't you show me how you make some then."
Metal Man: "Looking for something, my Lunarian comrade?."
Charles Magellean begins to smell... let's see... metallic rust... semi-new paintjob....
"...Wolf, good to see you again."
Julian Sawyer: "All you gotta do is get some Bisquick, milk, eggs, an' vanilla extract."
Wolfman turns to the new voice...
He gtes a look at the person who spoke... he is somewhat familiar, but isn't sure...
Metal Man: "I can't really cook, myself. It always causes explosions."
Garrick Fy`aar: *well, it seems I'm the only one not with the Questers anymore...*
Wolfman: "...I'm sorry, I don't recall everyone at this time."
Metal Man (GM): Both voices come from Metal.
Julian Sawyer: "...Wait, that's Wolf?"
Wolfman turns to Julian.
Charles Magellean: "You're definitely Wolf. Hard time remembering people."
Metal Man: "Can't see souls very well, can you?"
*He coughs a bit and mumbles to himself.*
Charles Magellean: "Charles Magellean. Used to go by the nickname 'Locos' before the whole megamuck incident."
Wolfman: "...now you should be familiar... didn't you like to dance a lot?"
Julian Sawyer: "I dunno, I can't really tell you're the same person when you lost about 4 feet in height."
VG: *Hops on Wolf's back* "Wolfman! You're back!"
*OOMPH* "Easy there Veeg... I just did a delivery."
Charles Magellean: "... *He takes a good look at the other one*."
Aetos blinked.
Julian Sawyer: "Dance? Where'd you get that?"
Charles Magellean: "Who is this one?"
Metal Man: "There is something strange... but what could it be? ...Leon Yetch."
Aetos salutes to Charles. "Leon Yetch, sir."
Julian Sawyer: "Some new guy. Last name's Yetch. You believe that?"
Charles Magellean smells this Leon...
Wolfman: "I vaguely remember that you did some dancing-type moves in your fighting style." *To Julian.*
Charles Magellean: "...You'll have a hard time convincing me his last name is Yetch."
VG: "Metal, shouldn't Wolf and Leon sign the new... um... agreement?"
Aetos: "Errm... why is that?"
Charles Magellean lets out a very low growl.
Aetos backs away. "What's up?..."
Metal Man: "Well, yeah. Regardless of who Leon is, the agreement makes sure he doesn't go out and use the knowledge here for evil."
Charles Magellean: "You smell of deceit... but you mask your scent well."
Metal Man pulls out two... wireless signing devices. One which Wolfman can sign just by putting a pawprint on it.
Charles Magellean: "If it weren't for your armor, I would be able to pinpoint who you could actually be."
Wolfman wishes to read the new agreement first.
Julian Sawyer: "Nah, you thinkin' of Gibby... And what's yo' deal now, Charles? Prescribed yourself some bad medicine, Mr. Shrink?"
Metal Man: "Uhhh... Leon... Yetch? I mean... whatever it is... and... Wolfman... this is the agreement."
*He pulls out the document.*
Metal Man (GM): http://archive.metalman88.com/Manifesto.htm
Wolfman: "...is there any outside area that is a part of HQ?"
Metal Man: "You sort of walked through it."
Aetos reads over it. .oO(Who does this APN think they are?)
Charles Magellean: "He smells of deceit... but it's like the wind blocks it totally from coming to me."
Julian Sawyer: "...The wind?"
Metal Man: "Deceit or none, the agreement makes sure nothing gets broken."
Charles Magellean: "There is such thing as a downwind in a building, Mr. Sawyer."
Wolfman: "That helps... I've been howling at the moon more often than not..." *Head is tilted down slightly.*
Metal Man: "But, yes, there is something I can't place about him... too familiar."
Julian Sawyer: "Psh. Only if yo' insane..."
Charles Magellean: "...Or thorough."
Metal Man: "We all howl at something. Me, it's the prices for paper. We run through tons of it."
Charles Magellean: "Speaking of through, I believe I've come up with a plan for finding the traitor."
Aetos grabs the pen... thing.
Metal Man: "Oh, yes, him."
Aetos: "A traitor?"
Wolfman re-reads it...
VG: *Hops off of Wolf's back.*
Metal Man: "Well, he tried to... do... things... you should sign that first."
Charles Magellean: "Classified information. The less the Questers know about it, the better."
Wolfman: "For the most part, I think these terms are fair... and if need be, slightly negotiable."
Charles Magellean points to Metal. "It especially goes for Illian McVoid here."
Metal Man: "Negotiable? Only the ones with the APN are. The Mages Council... yeesh."
Aetos shrugs and signs "Leon Yetch" .oO(I still don't know how I thought of that... strange...)
Wolfman: "I meant in terms of the permission clauses."
He "signs" with his right front paw.
Charles Magellean: "...If you will excuse me... Metal, where are the computer terminals?"
Metal Man: "Ummm... right. Okay, now that you've signed, that sort of makes things better... they're everywhere, Charles. You can have a holographic one pop up anywhere."
Charles Magellean clears his throat. "Perhaps I was vague." He whispers in the ear of Metal.
VG: "Okay, I'll check out the Arena to make sure it's in good shape for the upcoming fights."
SIMBER: "I keep it in top condition."
Metal Man: "Oh... uhhh... that..."
Julian Sawyer: "An' it's been tested. Twice. Held up fine."
VG: "A manual check won't hurt, would it?"
Charles Magellean turns his head so he waits for Metal to whisper back.
Metal Man stands there for a moment, then whispers back.
VG: "...fine..."
Charles Magellean: "Mm-hmm. Will do. "
Aetos crosses his armored arms.
"So... what are we going to do now?"
Metal Man nods. He looks at Leon again. "Ah well. I doubt you're all that bad anyway... strange that you're wearing armor like me."
Charles Magellean does a "praise to Yevon" bow. "I will see you later Wolf..." blood-shot eye looking at Aetos "...Leon."
Metal Man: "Well, nothing quite yet. We just finished two important missions."
Aetos jumps back slightly. "Woah... is he OK?"
VG: *Goes off to do some other things that SIMBER can't easily do*
Wolfman (OOC): Metal, Veeg has been there for quite some time... he stayed with the old Smashers and chose to stay in HQ. He needs some things to do...
Charles Magellean's eye returns to normal, and he leaves off for the place.
Metal Man: "I'll probably wind up fighting and losing to Julian yet again."
Wolfman: "...He always had a hard time trusting people."
Aetos: "Oh..." .oO(No kidding...)
Julian Sawyer: "Don' worry, he's always like that... An' I already beat you twice, Mets. I don't wanna end up actually hurtin' you now... Why don't you show the rookie the ropes?"
Metal Man: "Hurting me? You haven't fallen in a volcano before."
Wolfman: "If he ever visited my old realm... I wonder if he'd enjoy the lack of trust there. It's no longer the same."
Metal Man: "What did happen? You look... changed. In ways beyond me, even.."
Wolfman has his head down.
"...another time if you don't mind."
Charles Magellean arrives in the place. He turns off the dex, and smells for the ghost... he looks left and right, and sees that it isn't there. He begins.
Julian Sawyer: "Yeah, Wolf. You were up here." *Holds his hand about 4 inches above his own* "An' now you're down there." *Holds his hand at Wolfman's current height.*
Wolfman: "...the short version is that I got changed. It wasn't a willing change."
Julian Sawyer: "I can tell..."
Wolfman: "But more will be explained another time."
Metal Man: "Well. At least you have your whole soul. Took me quite a battle to get back to normal."
Julian Sawyer: "Righ'..."
Wolfman: "...not exactly."
Aetos tilts his head. "So... should I be going now, or... just wander around this place?"
Metal Man: "Well, Julian did say I should fight you... and I'm desperate for fights. I need the experience so I can beat him, old-school."
Wolfman turns to Leon, then to Metal.
"Which one of us?"
Julian Sawyer: "Nah, you gonna be fightin' Mets here. Map's on your left."
Metal Man: "Besides... you could use the experience.."
Aetos: "Oh... erm... Metal Man? The great Quester leader?... I don't think I could... I fear you'll pummel me..."
Metal Man: "That's a funny joke. I'm an old man who's rusty."
Wolfman: "Then that makes me your grandfather."
Metal Man: "Probably."
Julian Sawyer: "Yeah, I beat him down twice. Without any armor or nothin'. What you got to lose?"
Metal Man: "You moved around while I sat in a chair doing office work."
Aetos rotates his arm and makes it squeak. "Oooh... I should probably go oil this armor anyway..."
Metal Man: "Sure."
Wolfman: "Do you wish to spar with me Metal?"
Metal Man: "...Uhhh... hmmm..."
Julian Sawyer: "Hmph... Startin' to remind me of Charles."
Wolfman: "I believe you both suggested he fight."
Metal Man has a strange reluctance. "Fight my old leader? That's a bit difficult to contemplate."
Wolfman: "...perhaps after we're both well rested then?"
Metal Man: "...Sounds good."
Wolfman tries something...
Julian Sawyer: "Look, one of you guys fight Metal. I wanna see if I can still announce as well as I think I can."
Metal Man takes out a complex dex. "...We'll eventually have the opening festivities of the CAL."
Wolfman: "SIMBER, if you are still around, would you know where my living quarters are?"
*To Metal* "I'll do my best to attend that."
Aetos begins to walk toward the direction Charles went... and stops. "CAL?"
SIMBER: "This way." *Arrows point to the Big room.*
Julian Sawyer: "...Ain't you been LISTENIN'? The CAL's already been brought up twice."
Wolfman: "If you don't mind Metal, I must take my leave and recharge."
Metal Man: "Championship Arena League. The best of the best fight for a massive pile of coins from back when we were too rich for our own good."
*He nods to Wolfman.*
Julian Sawyer: "Most of which is mine..."
Wolfman returns the nod, and follows the arrows.
Aetos: "Sounds exciting."
Metal Man: "I still don't know where my bowling ball polisher went."
Aetos begins walking down the hall Charles left through.
Metal Man (GM): You can't exactly tell where he went.
There's doors everywhere.
Aetos peeks through any opened doors.
*While continuing through the halls.*
Metal Man (GM): No doors are open... they all slide open and closed, Star Trek Style, so none stay open.
Aetos figures this out after opening one door... and decides not to do that anymore.
"Say... SIMBER?"
SIMBER: *Appears* "Yes?"
Aetos: "Could you show me where that man... Charles was his name... where he went?"
SIMBER: "He appears to have vanished."
Aetos: "That's pretty unbelievable."
SIMBER: "Various people do that all the time. My sensors are not precise."
Aetos: "Aren't you able to pinpoint where various terminals are currently activated and being used?"
SIMBER: "Yes."
Aetos: "Could I get a list of... 3? I'm gonna go meet some friends."
SIMBER: "I can project terminals anywhere."
Aetos: "...Can you tell me where 3 of them are currently opened up?"
SIMBER: "Yes."
Metal Man (GM): It shows three consoles in lab 2 on the second floor. Dr. Light, Professor Oak... and Metal Man.
Aetos nods. "How can I get to Metal Man from here?"
Metal Man: "...Big room. Elevator on up to second floor."
SIMBER: *Said that.*
Metal Man (GM): You see arrows which lead to the Big Room.
Aetos: "Thank you very much."
*He leaves to see Metal.*
Metal Man (GM): You go there... and the elevator takes you to the requisite floor.
There, Metal is typing a normal mission report.
Aetos clears his throat.
Metal Man: "Hmm... eh?"
Aetos: "Oh, hello sir."
Metal Man: "What can I do for you?"
Aetos: "Sorry I just barged in here... I didn't realize... I've just been exploring... but I DO have a question..."
Metal Man: "And that would be?"
Aetos: "I've been wandering around Nintendus for a little bit, and couldn't ever seem to find any good adventures... I was wondering how you're able to pinpoint who is in distress, and where, all the time?"
Metal Man: "Ah... an encrypted signal relayed via Ivan. It's very special. Not even I understand the specifics."
Aetos: "Does this... information get transferred to those weird Dex things I some other Quester with?"
Metal Man: "No... only to our terminal."
Aetos: "Terminal?... And... that SIMBER being... has all the data on all of your terminals, right?"
Metal Man: "Yes."
Aetos: "That sounds very complex. You see, I'm trying to become a technician someday... so this all fascinates me very much."
Metal Man: "I see."
Aetos: "Well, thanks." .oO(That's perfect... I just need to get that transmission to direct itself at Talon as well as the terminal!...)
*He heads out of the room.*
Metal Man: "You remind me of myself... which is odd." *He watches Leon leave the room.*
Aetos stops.
"What do ya mean?"
Metal Man: "The armor."
Aetos taps his plate mail.
Metal Man: "Not many people wear so much... I guess it became a fad."
Aetos: "Well, yeah... I like to feel secure..."
Metal Man: "So do I." *He turns and continues his drudgery.*
Aetos continues out the door.
Charles Magellean leaves the place, going up in a nearby elevator, and going to the Big Room.
Aetos stops at Charles going up the Elevator before he gets down.
Charles Magellean is stopped.
Aetos stares at Charles.
Charles Magellean: "You must either be brave or oblivious to do just that." *He looks behind him to see Leon.*
Aetos: "Where were you, Charles? Looking me up?"
Charles Magellean: "I was in my room, thinking where... a certain someone... might be."
Aetos: "Hm. I need your help, but I doubt you'd accept, since after all, you're untrusting."
Charles Magellean looks back to the elevator, the back of his head to Leon.
"I'm untrusting of an unsent that's been 'living' here. I thanked him the other day for his help."
*He still looks to the elevator.* "I suppose I should at least listen."
Aetos: "...The unsent should be discussed later... but... I want your help routing Ivan Robotnik's transmission data for the distress signals to my Dex."
Charles Magellean: "I understand why you would say you doubt I'd accept. Doing that is in violation with at least several rules of this organization. Tell me more."
Aetos: "I wish to be able to help... on my own terms. You know why I can't come back to the Questers, but I'm still a Quester anyways. If I'm going to do my duty, I'll need to know about these missions too."
Charles Magellean eyes widen. He gasps.
"...
If you want to help, you'll have to stay in hiding as best you can."
Aetos: "I can't live with not doing anything... I need to be apart of this."
Charles Magellean turns to the side, his face facing the wall.
"Because of what has happened do to your actions, it is a matter of time *His right eye looks to Leon* before you have to start hiding from simply us.
On Nintendus, word gets around fast. It would be a matter of time before you start playing a game of life or death."
Aetos: "I'm not afraid of death, as you might have realized."
Charles Magellean eyebrow raises.
Aetos: "If I was, would I be talking to you?"
Charles Magellean: "I've realized you've become afraid of facing the consequences. Is that you?"
Aetos pauses. "I don't really know... I don't think I am. I'm not afraid of many things..."
Charles Magellean: "One can say he is not afraid. This much is true."
*His eye looks back to the wall.*
"But few can say they are truly sorry. This much is also true."
*He turns to face Aetos, body and all.
Aetos looks down at the ground, then looks up to Charles.
Charles Magellean: "You may know this already, but I took you in as my Young Ward. It was a special bond that few Lunarians can show outside their race. You may have been unknowing of The Void's true intentions, but when it became known to me... that bond was broken.
This kind of betrayal leaves a severe scar. One that is almost impossible to heal from."
Metal Man is wandering around HQ, himself, sort of oblivious.
Aetos: "...Sorry to interrupt... but... do you feel like we're being watched?"
Charles Magellean: "Your actions have shown one side of your character, but I have seen the side of you that is an ally to me still."
Julian Sawyer's watching that catapult game show again... "C'mon, two more wrong answers..."
The Wraith had been... haunting its own room for a while, but now leaves it and starts roaming HQ as it usually does... It passes by Metal, waving idly at him as it passes.
Charles Magellean: "Until you wish to make amends, expect no help other than the knowledge of who you are and what you want to do."
Aetos walks up to Charles.
Charles Magellean adjusts his contacts.
Metal Man waves as well. The Wraith might be able to catch a glimpse of more than just Metal; it could be seen Metal and The Void walking with the same step. They're nearly impossible to tell apart, but Wraith would see the other half just barely.
Aetos: "I wish to make amends with you alone... I hope that means something to you at least."
The Wraith raises an eyebrow a bit with a small smirk as it notices this, but doesn't stop to gawk. Just keeps movin'.
Charles Magellean: "..."
*He smiles.*
"Survive for seven days, and I will see what I can do."
*He begins to go up the elevator. He stops before pressing the button.*
Aribar would probably be in the R&R paging through his spell book. He looks up time to time at Julian's show.
Charles Magellean: "In a few days, a storm will try to chase you. This storm will be neverending unless I put a stop to it. It will take exactly one week to prepare the Ritual of Bahyhla. I know you. Do your best, do not get caught, and stay out further trouble." *He goes up to the big room.*
Aetos watches him go up...
"Seven..." *he bows to Charles as he goes up.*
Metal Man would, coincidentally, be in the big room. He'd glance at Charles. "Hi." He'd then continue working at the terminal.
Charles Magellean nods.
Aetos stands at the elevator for a moment, and walks off through the HQ... .oO(Leon... Yetch... where do I know that name?) -end-
TV: "...Parcheesi?" "WRONG! YOU BIG TIME LOSE!" "Please n-" *Catapult is launched, along with contestant* "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Aribar looks up. "Julian, have I ever told you that you watch weird shows?"
Julian Sawyer: "Only thing good on. Unless you'd rather watch cooking, an' I think that's in reruns."
Aribar: "Ummm. Okay. I will stick with people being catapulted out of... Catapults."
Julian Sawyer: "Good." *Turns his attention back to the TV.*
The Wraith's scent would probably be lingering in the Big Room for Charles to pick up, though faint; it hadn't stayed there long.
Charles Magellean: "Grrrr... there it is again."
*He sneezes to get the scent outta the room. He rubs his nose.* "Any news on the whereabouts of Aetos?
Think Skyhigh might know again?"
Metal Man: "Well... no. I only have some sensation that he's moved again... but where?"
Charles Magellean: "You think people might to start looking for him?"
Metal Man: "Well, I'm not really sure... how could people know about his misdeeds?"
Charles Magellean: "Gossip spreads like wildfire. Now matter how well protected information is, it does have a way of finding others."
Metal Man: "The real question is of the things he left off on. He pledged loyalty to The Void and attempted to help him in the end. The Void is me. Why doesn't he just do what I say?"
Charles Magellean: "When The Void existed as on its own, he had allegiance to it. Either because it is no longer a single entity or because it no longer actively seeks chaos, he does not pledge loyalty to you.
I do not think like others. It is impossible to tell."
Metal Man: "...That is quite a shame. Ironically, that means he is no longer loyal to me... so then what is he loyal to? A dead idea?"
Charles Magellean: "He has his own agenda. Even if he wanted to help, it doesn't seem possible he wants to face the consequences of his actions."
Metal Man: "Well... he can't run forever."
Charles Magellean: "I see. ...What puzzles me even more is why Tridus is not visible in your personality."
Metal Man: "I will find him and make sure he understands the... gravity... of betraying The Void.. Oh. Well, that's easy.
He was a nobody based on a real person. My dark side is too weak to be separate.
Just as much as Xalron cannot speak. He was merely a small piece.
I believe my voice and The Void's shall become one over time."
Charles Magellean: "...I wish you hadn't said Nobody." *Him saying that would probably bring out his own.*
"Great, now I can't stop thinking about it.
Thank you, goodbye, have a nice day, you two."
Metal Man: "Huh? Well. I don't have that problem. I will find that Benedict Arnold..."
Charles Magellean goes down an elevator... but before he goes down...
"Word of advice? Don't talk to children for the time being. You'll traumatize them with your dual-speaking."
Metal Man: "Heh heh heh. No problem."
Charles Magellean: "That goes double for you, too. For both of you."
Metal Man: "Whatever floats your boat. I'm more interested in traumatizing that loud-mouth character..."
Charles Magellean: "Also, an idea to think about: Let one voice do the talking for five minutes... then the other voice takes its turn for five minutes. Alternate every five. It did great for a buddy of mine that had two heads."
*He goes down the elevator slowly.
"...I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing."
*He hangs his head, closes his eyes, and lets out a sigh. He puts his head up again, opening his eyes.
Lashiec: *Appears before Charles, like all the others.* "The right thing? Hah! You're clearly out of your mind."
Charles Magellean eyes widen. "...You're here as well?"
Lashiec: "The Void is the only sensible one here. Have you not sense for honor? If he betrayed The Void, *Snap*, you're an even easier person to flip off. You can't escape yourself, Charles.
That Aetos is a no-good punk. He's got nothing but vast nothingness inside his head... but he uses it for evil and betrayal. He must be... destroyed."
Charles Magellean looks forward. "And what about you? You want to exist and take his place?"
Lashiec: "We could rule this dirt-bucket... together!"
Charles Magellean: "Aetos is... conflicted." *He appears to be conflicted himself.* "We've all done things that we've regret. ...Of course, you regret nothing."
Lashiec: "The number one thing is joining the Questers again. Come on. You hate Aribar... you hate that guy who spews words everywhere. With your own military, you could finally destroy them for good."
Charles Magellean: "Well... I do wish they'd stop offending me---the Magellean milit---are you out of your mind??"
*He puts a hand up.* "Pardon. Slip of the tongue."
He starts to look a bit more vulnerable; his breath rate is slightly higher.
"I couldn't forgive myself if I killed anyone again."
Lashiec: "You've pretty much set people up for dying as it is. You could stop being a coward and do some of it yourself."
Charles Magellean: "...Allowing them to hunt down and kill Aetos. ...WHAT AM I SAYING!?"
*He halts the slow moving elevator to a screeching halt.*
Lashiec: "The thing is, you can't stop yourself... it's a choice of conscious or unconscious."
Charles Magellean: "What form would you take next to haunt me? As a Quester? A Solarian? ...Myself?"
Lashiec: "Anything... everything. You can't predict it."
Charles Magellean: "It's because you don't have a name... or a form of your own to take on."
*He mind, for some reason, has letters floating all around...*
Lashiec: "Since I lack the attributes of the more outward Nobodies, I alone survived. ...And I shall make sure you crack, sooner or later."
Charles Magellean mind floats with the letters... his name slowly forms a new one..........
"...Mahlec R. Haxgel.
For some reason... I spaced out and the name Mahlec R. Haxgel came out."
Lashiec: "I shall allow you a short peace right now... but you know you can't hide forever."
Charles Magellean: "Perhaps you really are different... Haxgel."
Lashiec: "Think over my words and make your decision for next time. I will be back."
Metal Man (GM): He vanishes into thin air.
Charles Magellean will forever remember his Nobody's name: Mahlex R. Haxgel.
He opens up Garrick's dex. He turns the elevator on.
"Metal... I have a problem."
Metal Man: "Hmmm?"
Charles Magellean: "...I just named my Nobody Mahlex R. Haxgel. He may to have a stable form the next time he appears."
Metal Man: "A nobody exists? Interesting.... I can help you, though technically my experience is with something not very related.
The Void was a nobody who teetered between existence and non-existence.
He, and The Wraith, though, could possibly ensure such a Nobody... goes nowhere."
Charles Magellean: "...That's just it. Hexgel is of my imagination."
Editor's Note: I do prefer this approach to explaining why Nobodies existed, since they never actually existed in SSQ's true canon -- imaginary beings only.
Metal Man: "Perhaps... but we will make sure it doesn't get out of hand in case he is real."
Charles Magellean: "...It's already aware of this plan. Do what you can. Charles out." *Turns it off*
"You made the mistake of trying to control me. Now you're gonna get it, my imaginary friend."
Metal Man (GM): You hear a faint echo.
It's of the exact same thing, but in the Nobody's voice.
That you just said.
Charles Magellean: "...I suppose stopping the elevator at this floor would provide me the exercise."
*He stops at the floor he is. Let's hope this situation will be resolved tomorrow. He goes to the Arena, and walks up to the center of it. He stares at the hollowed ness of it... waiting.
* "Sardis... I will make sure that Maxgel does not achieve its goals. If it seeks chaos, I will stop the X-zone from returning. If it seeks domination, I will prevent the Magellean Military from rising again. The threat will be neutralized, the rules will not be violated."
Metal Man (GM): I must brb.
A little while ago...
Wolfman: *Okay, what description is needed?*
Metal Man (GM):
You're facing down Kappa, as you were before.
He stares at you somewhat deeply.
Kappa: "...What was your particular grudge against Gerald Robotnik?"
Garrick Fy`aar stands there in his brown robe, his weapons sheathed at his back... he has not drawn anything and his armor is still busted up to the point of it being off to the side...
"My 'grudge' against Gerald Robotnik?"
Kappa: "Yes. Unlike the other one, you are not a very high target on my list. Whoever you are."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I never am..."
Metal Man (GM): Kappa puts a hand to the side of its head.
Kappa: "It appears there is a new link to this target of mine. I must ensure he is destroyed. You, too, would hate him."
Garrick Fy`aar doesn't respond...
Kappa: "He was a supporter... of The Void." *He walks off, nonchalantly, destroying his way out of the forest.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...the Void..."
Metal Man (GM): You would see, very clearly, the path Wolfman took to the Stadium.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I've got to get to those ruins... but..."
Metal Man (GM): The path is clearly marked by his large footprints.
You look at Kappa's path; it vanishes shortly after the forest.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...if I follow Wolf, I can find out just what's going on... ...but he's going back to the stadium...
...I must get to those ruins first.
As soon as I'm done there, I'll go find out what's going on..."
*He does a quick calculation thanks to the sun, then heads north...*
Wolfman would be in the back yard, trying to relax .oO(Glad to be back... at least I belong here... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ)
Metal Man (GM): You head north... and see nothing but mountains up here. The path goes straight up into Valhalla Domain.
Garrick Fy`aar continues north. He keeps his eyes open wide in order to look for these ruins...
Metal Man (GM): You see not ruins... but Valhalla Domain.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...they've got to be in there..."
*He continues into the Valhalla Domain, hoping this isn't some wild goose chase...*
Metal Man (GM): You walk on in. A ghostly white being appears... apparently the computer.
Valhalla Computer: "Hello. What can I do for you?"
You see all sorts of... Zora... living here, as well as a very technological white city.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Uhhh... wow, no offense, but you seem out of place..."
Valhalla Computer: *chuckles* "I am this place. How can I seem out of myself?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, I just didn't expect a Zora of all things. Anyway, maybe you can help me...
I'm looking for a set of ruins... Neo-Earthian ruins..."
Valhalla Computer: "They are across the inhospitable and deadly Magnetic Wastes. ...I'd suggest getting the Questers' help there. Only they have a warp machine capable of crossing them..."
Garrick Fy`aar frowns...
"It all comes back to the Questers..."
Valhalla Computer: "They are inextricably linked... but I can do a few things by myself."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Like what?"
Valhalla Computer: "This entire city is a space ship. I have the capabilities to develop technology relatively easily."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Develop... technology... hmmmm... listen, could I ask you a favor?"
Valhalla Computer: "?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I require a lab or workplace to retool and repair my equipment... You don't happent o have one of those, do you?"
Metal Man (GM): A mysterious shadow enters the room.
???: "Oh, really. Asking for help from a Quester-allied space ship. You know better than that. It's a trick to get you in with them."
Garrick Fy`aar turns to the shadow slowly...
Valhalla Computer: "...I have those... but..." *Points at the shadow.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and just who are you?"
Metal Man (GM): He steps into the light. You see a sight which is both strange and frightening to behold.
It's Ivo Robotnik, only he's a bit skinnier, he has a more military appearance, and he no longer looks so much crazy as determined. He towers over you, possible due to his imposing boots.
He points at you, and then holds out his left hand.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Ivo..."
Ivo Robotnik: "I have the tools and technology to make anything real. You couldn't possibly turn down such an offer from a genius like me!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...what's your angle, Ivo?"
Ivo Robotnik: "You can create whatever it is you need... and then I can make it better! Think of it as an equal partnership."
Garrick Fy`aar: "And what do YOU get out of this?"
Ivo Robotnik: "Whatever you make... I, too, can make a copy of. To add to this, I can learn from your rare and wonderful knowledge of the now defunct magitek."
Metal Man (GM): He laughs a bit.
Ivo Robotnik: "Think of what we could do!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Magitek is gone, Ivo... I doubt I can form anything anymore..."
Ivo Robotnik: "Oh, yes, but you see, I have already thoroughly researched the idea."
Metal Man (GM): He pulls out a sort of canvas-holding device with a presentation on it out of nowhere.
It shows a generic magitek glove, with an arrow where the magitek core should be.
Ivo Robotnik: "This is what is missing in all magitek today."
Metal Man (GM): He then flips it over.
It shows... Chaos Emeraldium shaped into a core.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...what... how?!"
Ivo Robotnik: "But some fake chaos emerald material shaped into a core..."
Metal Man (GM): And he flips it over.
It shows the gauntlet, fully powered. In fact, it's even more powerful.
Ivo Robotnik: "Hah! Everything is back to function. All I need... is the magitek knowledge."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Ivo, don't you know that the emeralds were linked to the Void? If we use them again, he could grow powerful enough to be released again... Even the fake ones had some link to it..."
Ivo Robotnik: "Ah... a good point... but..."
Metal Man (GM): He flips it over again, pointing to an image of the X-zone.
Ivo Robotnik: "This is gone. The Emeralds are gone. Anything I make is just the material. It won't destabilize reality because I've made a stable isotope version. No radiation."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Ivo, I don't know... it's tempting... I mean, I've always wanted to learn from a Robotnik..."
Ivo Robotnik: "I haven't even been attacking anyone. You can ask the Questers. They'll claim I'm dead."
Garrick Fy`aar: "But this has got to be some violation of the charter than the new government put up."
Ivo Robotnik: "Bah! My cousin is an idiot. Look what he's missing out on! Free, cheap energy! And he lets a bureaucracy run some top-secret project which will kill us all if we don't act quick!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Top-Secret Project?"
Ivo Robotnik: "There's this satellite... with NUCLEAR WEAPONS aboard it. They're pointed at us right now. And it's controlled... by some sort of untested A.I."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...that can't be true..."
Ivo Robotnik: "It is... once again. You can go and ask the Questers, then tell me what you think. I won't attack you with a machine for disagreeing.
No, no... I have a far better plan... a plan to increase the quality of life seven-fold!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...how can I contact you?"
Ivo Robotnik: "Simple enough."
Metal Man (GM): He tosses you a strange-looking communicator.
Garrick Fy`aar catches it...
Ivo Robotnik: "Press the button. You'll be connected through an encrypted beam through several secret satellites to my base. Press it again to turn off communication when you're done.
No bugs, traps, or explosives... 100% guaranteed!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and my armor?"
Ivo Robotnik: "We can fix anything. What if it was made... better?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I dunno how much better it could be..."
Ivo Robotnik: "And remember--I tried to destroy The Void long before any of you did. I don't want to harm the world... but I'm often misunderstood. The Master Egg wound up giving you vital time to defeat Smithy."
*Mumbles* "I will destroy that Jokercube some day..."
Garrick Fy`aar thinks... that is true...
"...alright.
I'll go back to the stadium."
Ivo Robotnik: "As you wish. I must return to my base."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and maybe I can get to those ruins..."
Ivo Robotnik: "Hmmm? Ruins? If you need help, I can probably supply it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "There's some Neo-Earthian ruins in the Magnetic Wastelands to the north... I'm hoping there's some link to... my time there."
Ivo Robotnik: "Ah... yes. Time... I'll tell you what. If you help me enough... I will be able to get you what you want. Many things... from your time.
I can't say how--it's awfully top secret and all, but it'll soon be completed!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't want 'things'... I just want to know what happened...
...to my father."
Ivo Robotnik: "Well, I can do that too. Just give me some time. And of course, some help... now I must go."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...maybe you know about it."
Ivo Robotnik: "Me? Can't say I do."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'll ask you later. Go."
Metal Man (GM): He nods, and then walks out, getting aboard what looks like an upgraded Egg Hornet.
It turns invisible and flies off at incredibly high speeds.
Garrick Fy`aar watches him go... then sighs and turns to the computer...
"...can you get me a warp to the stadium?"
Valhalla Computer: "That was... unusual. Yes. Warp set up."
A warp appears in the middle o' the floor.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Execute. And mask the signature."
*He sighs deeply, then takes a step into the warp... and disappears.*
Metal Man (GM): You vanish... and then reappear in the Big Room of the stadium.
Wolfman wakes up from his nap, and starts heading inside.
Metal Man (GM): Metal is there... typing... typing... you appear and he nearly falls out of his chair.
Metal Man: "Woah!"
VG: *Enters the big room to see Metal fall out.* "Metal, since when were you Klum..." *Turns to... Garrick...?* "...sy...?"
Metal Man: "Since people teleport in outta nowhere."
Garrick Fy`aar: *He would probably be a might bit surprising... an odd humped back man in a large brown road with what looks like a very heavy suitcase in one hand...*
Metal Man: "May I ask who you are?"
VG: *Gets a better look at the old/new person* "...you seem familiar."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...pfft, shut up, Metal."
Metal Man: "...Just making sure. You know. I've been having people appear from everywhere."
Garrick Fy`aar pulls down his hood... his hair is a good deal longer, and his face is dirty and ragged... but yep. It's Garrick.
Charles Magellean rises up to the big room via the elevator.
"Metal, do you have the process ready yet?"
Wolfman now enters the Big Room, hearing a lot of commotion.
Metal Man: "Process... eh?"
Wolfman turns to Garrick. I see you made it out alright.
Metal Man: "I'm very busy at the moment. Maybe I can get it ready later."
Charles Magellean: "I'd rather not have Maxge---" *Looks to the cloaked being.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's been a trip..."
Wolfman: "I see you made it out alright."
Charles Magellean smells the person... the scent is familiar.
Garrick Fy`aar looks to Charles. He chuckles...
"Do I look that different, Charles?"
Metal Man: "Oh. That. Well... I've made some rather important progress on the study of... things... Yes... things..."
Charles Magellean: "You can hide your person... but the scent of self stays with you, Garrick."
Metal Man: "Oh! Well, in that case, I can say it."
Charles Magellean: "Have you found yourself yet?"
VG: "I thought you were familiar."
Metal Man: "Well, I found the resolution to my freakish double-talk problem."
Wolfman: "What's going on Metal?"
Metal Man: "Watch this."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I wouldn't say I've 'found myself'...but I have made a little progress..."
Metal Man stands up, and then snaps his fingers. Nothing happens.
Charles Magellean: "That's good..." o_O *looks to Met*.
Metal Man: "Huh... uhhh... let's see. I'll try that again."
*He snaps them again. A spark flies off of one of his fingers.*
Wolfman: "...well, that is better than me right now. I can't snap."
Metal Man: "...Almost got it... okay. Third time is the charm!"
Wolfman: VG: .oO(Somehow I doubt it)
Garrick Fy`aar: "Metal... something bad is happening."
Wolfman: Wolf: .oO(What's he thinking?)
Metal Man snaps his fingers and suddenly explodes, revealing The Void, who is now the size of Metal rather than a 15-foot tall monstrosity.
Garrick Fy`aar: "What the hell?!"
Wolfman quick draws his claws.
VG: *Gets behind Wolf.*
Garrick Fy`aar immediately drops his case and falls backward into a different, but still recognizable, stance.
Charles Magellean: "Oh don't be surprised. The Void is part of Metal now."
The Void: "I see you don't recognize a transformer effect when you see one."
Wolfman: "I thought the Transformers were gone!"
*He hits his radio call button.*
The Void: "...I happen to have the essence of them stuck in me. I can switch back and forth now."
Charles Magellean: "Transformer effect, dullard."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...turn back before I do something rash..."
Wolfman: "Mewtwo, any chance you can teleport down here?"
Mewtwo: (Comms) "What reason?"
Wolfman: "Metal is somehow messing with the Transformers... or rather, some form of them."
Charles Magellean: "The both of you calm down before either of you do something Skyhigh-ish."
The Void: "...I'm about as harmful as eating cheese. Really."
Wolfman: "I thought they were banned now."
The Void pokes Locos with no ill effect.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Metal, seriously, something is going on..."
The Void: "They are. Who said I needed a transformer?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I need to tell you."
The Void: "Oh, right. I'll get him."
Charles Magellean slaps Void hand with his own. "Don't touch me."
Metal Man (GM): The Void watches Charles's hand fly through him, and then explodes ala Metal.
Metal appears in his place.
Metal Man: "Ah... right... what did you need to tell me?"
VG: "Oy... this is some strange welcome party."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...good. Metal, I met someone in Hyrule Town..."
Wolfman withdraws his claws.
Metal Man: "Hyrule town? Huh? Who's there?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "There's a underground conspiracy of Kuja followers that are trying to do what Kuja did."
Charles Magellean: "You can always guess someone from the past."
Metal Man: "...Nasty. Both sides of me would love to make them explode."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I have no idea what they're planning..."
Metal Man: "Huh... any locations?"
Charles Magellean flicks something out of his teeth; A piece of rock a size of a motor. "What else? Continuing what he wanted."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Not really, but I know that there is some sort of passage in the blacksmithery in Hyrule Town. On top of that... there's somewhere I want to go. And only you guys can get me there."
Metal Man: "I guess we can check that out sometime... I'm currently setting up some missions... hmm?"
Wolfman: "Where do you need to go?"
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(that's not completely true, but I don't feel ready to trust Ivo yet...)
Charles Magellean: "Something in outer space, perhaps?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "There are some ruins beyond the Magnetic Wastelands... I want to go and take a look."
Metal Man: "We already took one look... it's freaky."
Wolfman: "I haven't yet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You've been there?!"
Metal Man: "Imagine an ancient building which survived a catastrophe that blew up the world."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I want to go."
Charles Magellean: "We also took care of some other threats..."
Metal Man: "Now with corpses of Solarians, who somehow lived to fight Neo-Earthians. There's one sticking point... it's that damn Rathos Lell.
One of those smart-aleck Solarians programmed themselves into a computer and escaped into the planetary network."
Charles Magellean: "He tried to control a nuke from the Gaia Defense Station, but Julian took care of both him and the AI Gunicard."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...there's something else, Metal."
Charles Magellean: "So now the nukes aren't a threat since Gunicard is debugged."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yes, that. What's this I hear about the new government having some sort of satellite filled with nukes that are targeted on different places on Nintendus?"
Wolfman: "...and now irony has presented itself."
Metal Man: "Pretty much true. We've been trying to secretly pacify the situation."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Hm. ...and what about Ivo?"
Charles Magellean: "Alive and well."
Metal Man: "There's only one nuke; we stole one off of the station... Ivo? Huh? I don't remember hearing about him anywhere."
VG: "I don't recall this as part of your pacifying Metal. Think we should check up on the satellite then?"
Metal Man: "We did. Twice."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Ivo is alive, Metal..."
Metal Man: "We'll do it again when it aligns with the planet."
VG: "Right... it's always whenever I have Kitchen Duty..."
Metal Man: "Well, that's a nasty addition... I wonder when we missed him."
Charles Magellean: "I'd say since last night."
Garrick Fy`aar sighs gently...
Wolfman: "Perhaps he's not as bad as we thought. If the evil was to be wiped out, perhaps he repented.
I know I had some repenting to do."
Charles Magellean: "Once again, your logic does not fit the situation."
Metal Man: "That was mostly beyond your control. Ivo has, repeatedly unleashed scientific destruction on us. Only thanks to Smithy and Sardis Mongul has he been out of our hair so much..."
Wolfman: .oO(...WHY wasn't I given a new intelligence chip?)
Garrick Fy`aar: "...cool new look, Wolf."
Charles Magellean: "...We owe much to Sardis."
Wolfman: "...a little late, but noted."
*He nods his head.*
Charles Magellean looks to an empty part of the room. "As well as his information about Nobodies."
He looks back to the others.
Metal Man: "...It is a shame he died over it. Perhaps the Solarians weren't all bad."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, if possible, Metal, I'd like to spend a few nights here. I need to repair my equipment, fix my weapons..."
Charles Magellean: "Sardis was the exception."
Metal Man: "Well, sure."
Charles Magellean: "Solarians, even though almost all gone, are still bane in many a side."
Metal Man: "Well. There's more of them than me."
VG: "Garrick, I can take you to the lab. It's getting a bit stuffy in here for me anyway."
Metal Man: "At least, seems to be."
Charles Magellean looks to Metal... with a grimace.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Really, I just want some sleep right now..."
Metal Man: "As you wish."
VG: "Well, I can take you to the guest rooms then."
Metal Man: "Sometime, though, I should try fighting Julian with The Void... would be very interesting."
Charles Magellean swishes his mouth from side to side.
VG: *Starts heading out* "Garrick, you coming?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I might as well drop my stuff off there... yeah, sure."
*He follows VG...*
Charles Magellean: "Unlike the Holorooms and the League, you Cannot continually postponing examination of my ---*Sees the others and looks back*--- problem."
Wolfman: "Should we send you to Doctor Mario then? I'm sure he'd like a visit... wherever he is now."
*He hasn't looked up where the old Smashers went to.*
Charles Magellean points Wolfman in the direction of the elevator he's leaving in. "Leave and stay out of my personal problem."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...so, Veegee... how are things with the new stadium?"
VG: "Other than the fewer visitors, and the occasional cleaning battles with SIMBER, it's alright."
*He growls quietly.*
Metal Man nods to Charles. Then decides to go looking for Julian."
Wolfman: .oO(Jeez, I try to help...)
Charles Magellean puts his hands on Metal's table. "Because it is a part of me, it has my ability to rapidly achieve its goals. Wait too long, and you will have a problem that you won't be able to silence."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Well, it looks nice. Long as I get a nice bed, a nice shower, some good food and drink, and a quiet place to work, I'll be fine and out of your hair soon."
Metal Man: "Don't worry. I'll get to it."
VG: "That shouldn't be a problem."
Charles Magellean: "ASAP, Metal. Don't regret putting it off."
Garrick Fy`aar moves silently into the nearby lab...
Charles Magellean uses a third elevator to leave Big Room. He goes to the elevator and goes to the Arena so he can stare off into it again.
Metal Man: "Okay, I'll regret putting it off and not put it off so that then I don't have to regret putting it off even though you told me not to regret putting it off."
Garrick Fy`aar looks about the lab (better than before, Mets?)
"...very nice."
*He sets his stuff down in a corner... his sword, shield, the heavy case that is his armor, and Metal's axe.*
"Armor, full secure."
*It beeps once, then hums softly.*
