Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 305: Gravity Egg Part I: Astral Navigation
Date: 6:35:35 PM, July 26th, 2006.
Metal Man (GM): MISSION
Alexia is in the Big Room, looking quite downcast.
Dragoshi is in the Big Room, leaning against the wall.
Metal Man is in the big room, looking sort of frazzled.
Digifanatic is in there as usual after hearing the call, wondering what's going to happen this time.
Aribar enters the Big Room, his eyes on the ground and his spirits low.
Gibby enters the Big Room with his equipment on ready for yet another day of missioning.
Metal Man: "Okay... okay... so... after that incident with Shadow the Hedgehog... it's time to stop Mr. Ivo. We have several choices to stop him with."
Digifanatic: "Indeed."
Alexia: *Without her usual cheeriness* "Name them."
Dragoshi: "...And those choices are...?"
Gibby raises an eyebrow. Incident? With Shadow?
Metal Man: "Well... you can... hmmm... Fly directly towards his Gravity Egg with MTAs..."
Alexia: "Not that."
Gibby: "Sounds suicidal..."
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Aribar mutters, "Impossible."
Metal Man: "Attempt to get there through the Astral Realm..."
Digifanatic: "Ohhhhhhhhhhhh boy."
Alexia: "Perhaps. Probably not."
Gibby just shrugs at that.
Metal Man: "Fly the Master Egg Mk2 into it... Or attempt to sneak aboard."
Wolfman: "Now that's an interesting idea..."
Metal Man: "Take your pick."
Gibby: "I like the sneaking idea."
Wolfman: "I say stop an egg with an egg."
Alexia: "I agree with Gibby."
Aribar: "What do you think that Master Egg thing would do to the Gravity Egg?"
Dragoshi is leaning towards the Astral Realm idea.
Alexia keeps her gaze away from Ari.
Metal Man: "Not much, just allow you aboard by blasting everything he sends at you outta the sky. But then there's likely to be more guards when you do get there."
Digifanatic: "Exactly."
Wolfman: "Each choice has its pros and cons. Which will be the fastest way?"
Aribar: "And the Astral Realm?"
Gibby: "But with sneaking we can get buy a lot of the guard... they'll probably be heavily equipped."
Metal Man: "The Astral Realm requires navigation but is the most sneakiest."
Digifanatic: "That or the standard sneaking on, I like."
Aribar: "Can't the Void help us with navigation?"
Digifanatic: "As Gibby said, MTAs are too suicidal and make us look way too cocky, something I'm not into..."
Wolfman: "I say the Astral Realm then."
Gibby: "I'll go Astral I suppose."
Digifanatic: "The Master Egg, Metal said there'd be so many guards, so yeah, Astral Realm sounds good."
Dragoshi: "...Glad that someone else knows that the Astral Realm's a smart idea"
Gibby: "Right! So lets go with that one."
Alexia: "Right..."
Metal Man: "All agreed?"
Aribar: "Let us get this over with..."
Digifanatic: "Sure thing."
Metal Man: '"Very well.
The warp elevator is ready."
Gibby nods and makes his way into the elevator.
Dragoshi enters the elevator.
Aribar shuffles onto the elevator.
Wolfman goes in.
Alexia walks slowly onto the elevator.
Wolfman: "So... this is it."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Gibby: "Seems that way."
Digifanatic: *Into zee vator.*
Trigger falls out of a portal next to the others.
Metal Man (GM): ...You mean walks into the elevator.
*WARP* You are beamed up into the Astral Realm.
Trigger walks towards the elevator.
Wolfman feels back at home... somewhat.
Gibby: "After a couple trips, you get used to it..."
Digifanatic: "MM-hmm."
Trigger: "Ohh, shiny."
Metal Man (GM): Up here, once again, it's a weird place with white dirt and weird houses. And shiny everything.
Alexia: "Well, we're here. So now what?"
Dragoshi: "...Heh. Back to this place once again."
Wolfman: "We find the right path to access Ivo's lair, and stop him."
Alexia doesn't bother looking around.
The Void: *Rises from the ground* "Well, I get to give you directions, then you do the rest."
Gibby: "We should probably speak with the Voi--nevermind."
Digifanatic: "Sweet."
Dragoshi: "...Thank you, Void."
Trigger: "AAHH!!"
The Void: "All you must do is cross the valley of malfunctioning... things."
Dragoshi: "Lead the way."
Gibby: "...Things?"
Dragoshi: "...Valley of malfunctioning things, huh?"
Trigger: "Yeah..."
The Void points to a large valley full of weird looking people, upside-down houses, and malfunctioning VHS players.
Wolfman: "...could I possibly malfunction during this trip? I am made of... well, things."
Aribar: "Is the entrance to Ivo's ship easy to find?"
Alexia looks up, finally.
The Void: "It is found inside a large refrigerator deep in the valley."'
Alexia: "...Bizarre."
Trigger: "I wouldn't think so."
Gibby stares at the valley.
"That's... kinda weird."
Trigger: "So much crap."
Gibby: "But expected."
Dragoshi chuckles.
Digifanatic: "Ah."
Aribar unsheaths Moonlight. "Anything to warn us about?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Dragoshi: "...Heh. " *Pulls out his scythe.*
The Void: "Malfunctioning junk can also be violent."
Trigger pulls out Badelaire.
Gibby sighs and unsheaths his sword.
Aribar: "Goodbye." *The elf starts towards the valley.*
Dragoshi: "...Ah. Well, if that's the case, then we'll be sure to take care of them"
*He follows Ari.*
Digifanatic: "Sure, not a problem."
Trigger: "Finally, a chance to use this."
Gibby: "It's what we do after all..."
Wolfman: "Let's be careful then Questers."
Gibby follows Ari and Drag to the valley.
Alexia takes out her laser gun and heads into the valley with the others.
Wolfman comes along.
Trigger follows the others.
Digifanatic starts walking...
Metal Man (GM): You walk into the valley.
There's a path which winds through it.
You could just walk straight to the refrigerator at the other end... but!
There's a big sign.
Alexia reads it.
Wolfman sees a big sign.
Gibby looks up at the sign.
Aribar reads the sign.
Metal Man (GM): 'DO NOT LEAVE THE PATH'
Dragoshi looks at it and nods.
Gibby: "...Sounds simple enough."
Aribar starts down the path.
Trigger: "Why not?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Metal Man (GM): Your first encounter in this valley is dead ahead; the path has a variety of jewels, diamonds, and coins just off to the side of it.
Gibby goes down the path.
Trigger follows the path anyway.
Metal Man (GM): You could just walk off the path and take some.
Digifanatic: "I ain't going for that..."
Metal Man (GM): Or you could walk right past it.
Dragoshi looks at the stuff. "...Eh, I'll pass."
Wolfman decides to stick to the path.
Dragoshi walks right past it, following Wolf.
Gibby then shakes it off and continues down the path... sweating a little.
Alexia stays on the path, following the group.
Aribar doesn't even bother to look off the path. He just keeps trudging forward.
Wolfman: .oO(I might be tempted, but I'll earn my money the right way.)
Trigger keeps following the path with the others.
Metal Man (GM): Your next thing on the path... is a holy chalice! It sits in the middle of the path... but there's a hole in the path there, which it floats over.
You can walk around it on the path, or walk off the path and steal it.
Dragoshi: "...Nah."
Wolfman: "Hmm..."
Gibby: "Too holy for me."
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Aribar passes by the chalice, making sure to keep on the path.
Digifanatic just walks around it...
Gibby continues down the path.
Wolfman tries to see if there is a way to jump over it.
Alexia walks around it on the path, not looking up.
Trigger keeps following the path with the others.
Metal Man (GM): You could just walk right around it.
But if you must jump over it, yes, you can.
Dragoshi follows the others, ignoring the chalice
"WAY too holy for me."
Wolfman goes follow the leader, not wanting to touch the chalice. STAY ON PATH.
Dragoshi: *STAY ON PATH AS WELL.*
Metal Man (GM): Your next challenge is less easy.'
The path splits into two here.
A weird looking man with a hatchet guards them.
???: "Only one path is true, and the other false."
Wolfman sees a man guarding paths.
Gibby looks up at the hatchet man.
Wolfman: "Hello there."
???: "Answer my riddle and I'll give you the way through."
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Gibby: "Oh boy! I love riddles!"
Wolfman: .oO(At least he isn't Scottish.)
Trigger: "Yay..."
Aribar stops and listens for the riddle.
???: "What can be felt, but not seen, what changes but does not appear? What is real and not imagined? What was the unloyal follower's favorite abandon? What comes from a difference in fronts, what moves things without grunts?"
Aribar: "Wind."
Wolfman looks to Aribar... he already guessed?!?!?
???: "Good... now for the second part."
Metal Man (GM): He vanishes... and two gargoyles appear.
Gibby: "Nice one, Ari."
Wolfman growls.
Dragoshi: "Good job, Ari."
Left Gargoyle: "Eee! What do we haev heer? A boonch of questars?"
Alexia raises an eyebrow.
Dragoshi: "..."
Alexia: "...The HECK?"
Wolfman: "We meet again."
Right Gargoyle: "E gads! It's theeem!"
Dragoshi: .oO(...Did it just speak in an ACCENT?)
Left Gargoyle: "You may ask us threee questions!"
Right Gargoyle: "One is wrong... the other is reeght!"
Left Gargoyle: "They who be telling da truth are the right direction."
Gibby: "Oh good lord... THEM again?"
Right Gargoyle: "Now ask ye questions and be defeeted already!"
Dragoshi facepalms.
Alexia looks up and asks the first question. "What would the other gargoyle say was the right path?"
Right Gargoyle: "Ach, he would say it was the left path!"
Left Gargoyle: "Ach! He would say it was the left path too!"
Alexia: "I'm done."
Dragoshi: "..."
Aribar: "Do you know which way to go, Alexia?"
Alexia: "I think so."
Wolfman: "I think you are crazy..."
Alexia pulls them aside and whispers.
Right Gargoyle: "Ask yeee questions!"
Digifanatic: "Okay. Yeah?"
Aribar listens.
Wolfman: "I'll ask one."
Digifanatic: "Alexia, what is it?"
Gibby holds his head.
Alexia: *Whispering* "The truth-telling one would tell his brother's lie, since it's the truth that he would say it."
Wolfman: "What is the square root of 10000, multiply that by 4, and add 350 to that?"
Alexia: "The liar would lie about the right path, which is the one that the truth-teller would mention."
Aribar: "So it's the right path?"
Digifanatic: .oO(*does it in in his head...* Come on, 750...)
Right Gargoyle: "Ach! I keen't do math!"
Aribar: "Rightward, that is."
Left Gargoyle: "Me neither!"
Wolfman: "..."
Digifanatic: .oO(Crap.)
Dragoshi: "..."
Gibby: "I... don't get it."
Alexia: "It makes sense if you think about it."
Wolfman: .oO(These gargoyles need more education.)
Aribar nods.
Gibby: "My poor poor brain..." @_!
Dragoshi facepalms. "Ugh. You guys first."
Aribar: "Okay. So is anyone going to use the last question?"
Dragoshi: "Not me."
Alexia stands back up (she was leaning over slightly to whisper)
"Well, who wants to use the final question?"
Dragoshi: "...Ain't me"
Wolfman: "I already asked one."
Aribar: "I have an... Unrelated question to ask if no one else wants to ask one."
Dragoshi: "...Shoot."
Trigger: "...Go ahead."
Wolfman nods. .oO(Okay, what will Aribar ask about this time?)
Aribar: "Where can I get an item that would allow me to temporarily live in lava?"
Gibby: "...Huh?"
Wolfman: "...I think my question was better."
Trigger: "..."
Dragoshi: "...Fuuuh?"
Right Gargoyle: "Ach! Death Mountain!"
Left Gargoyle: "No! It has to be Your headquarters!"
Alexia: "Well, I think I know the correct path."
Wolfman tries to recall his library readings...
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Wolfman: .oO(Hmm...)
Alexia starts walking down the right path.
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Aribar sheaths Moonlight and takes out his dex, recording their answers. He unsheaths Moonlight again and follows Alexia. "Thank you."
Gibby: "So wait... it's right?"
Wolfman is agreeing with Alexia here: Right path it is.
Trigger follows Alexia.
Gibby just shrugs and follows the others down the right path.
Wolfman: "We'll go down that RIGHT path, thank you."
Dragoshi: "Seriously. I'll stay behind ya guys..."
Trigger: "What's the worst that could happen?"
Gibby: "...You just -had- to ask that."
Alexia: "DON'T SAY THAT."
Wolfman: *Sweatdrop.*
Metal Man (GM): You walk down it, and are confronted by another obstacle.
Digifanatic follows...
Alexia: "...YES!"
*She cheers and grins, breaking her somber mood.*
Metal Man (GM): Pat's MJ CD collection.
Dragoshi: "..."
Gibby: "Well as long as this doesn't kill us, I guess we got the right---buh??"
Wolfman: "...I forgot he enjoyed this music a lot."
Metal Man (GM): It makes a wall which literally blocks the way across the path.
Digifanatic: "Ah yes..."
Metal Man (GM): Since Croco ate it... it wound up here.
Alexia: "...Not HIM..."
Dragoshi: "...Holy crap it's a wall of music."
Alexia: "I dare not risk even touching the CDs..."
Digifanatic: "I'll take the special copy of Thriller--just kidding..."
Alexia: "So, I wonder what riddle we have to pass here?"
Aribar goes to the edge of the path and tries to look and see how thick the wall is.
Dragoshi: "...I think I'll take the ones with Thriller and Smooth Criminal on it... Nah."
Wolfman: "Thoughtful... okay, how do we go through this one?"
Metal Man (GM): It's one CD thick.
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Metal Man (GM): And by that I mean one standing on its edge.
Gibby: "Can't we just make a hole through it?"
Metal Man (GM): You could shove it over.
Aribar looks to see if there's anything of importance behind it.
Wolfman: "There is probably a trap to this... but should we just push these CDs around?"
Digifanatic: "Hang on."
Metal Man (GM): You see... nothing important behind it.
Alexia: "It's Michael Jackson. Do you dare?"
Metal Man (GM): But it appears to be wobbly... you'd better be careful with moving it out of the way.
Gibby: "I mean it's a wall of CDs... and they're rather thing."
Digifanatic: "If we all get into an orderly line and all run fast enough... think we can make it?"
Metal Man (GM): Otherwise it may fall on you.
Trigger: "We could."
Dragoshi: "...Prolly."
Wolfman: "That sounds risky."
Metal Man (GM): Unless you are crafty.
Digifanatic: "But..."
Alexia: "Doesn't sound like a good plan."
Wolfman: "Hmm... can any of us teleport?"
Aribar: "I might be able to... No, that wouldn't work. Nevermind."
Digifanatic: "I was just gonna say that."
Aribar: "I won't teleport."
Gibby: "Can't."
Dragoshi nods in response to Wolf. "I could, but I won't."
Trigger: "Nope."
Digifanatic: "But I can get all of us in a single shot."
Aribar: "Digi's idea sounds like the best."
Digifanatic: "Now..."
Wolfman: "Digi: tell us what to do."
Digifanatic: "The problem I guess you guys are fearing is that we would somewhat divert from the path."
Dragoshi: "...Eh."
Aribar: "How accurate are your methods?"
Digifanatic: "I don't think that should be a worryable problem."
Wolfman: "I'd rather stay on the path."
Digifanatic: "And they're accurate."
Wolfman: "There is probably a reason why we were told to be on the path."
Aribar: "Then we shouldn't fear accidentally stepping off the path."
Digifanatic: "I can get a location of the place and at least get us a few feet ahead of the wall."
Trigger: "Ok."
Digifanatic: "And I do wonder what would happen if something were to fall off the path."
Gibby: "We'd probably wind up back at the starting point or something."
Aribar takes a coin from his pocket and tosses it off the path.
Digifanatic: "Either that or a monster trapdoor would pop out."
Trigger: "I don't feel like finding out."
Digifanatic: "Or a Piranha Plant would burst through the ground and chomp us to bits."
Alexia: "...Hey, what if we pirated the CDs until the real ones went out of existence?"
Editor's Note: *Snort* That WOULD be the kind of messed up logic one has to use in this place...
Gibby: "...Wha?"
Alexia looks at the various stares.
Trigger: "...You're kidding."
Alexia: "I'm trying to be creative here!"
Gibby: "What do pirates have to do with anything?"
Dragoshi: "...Don't know. Don't really care"
Digifanatic: "Okay here... Everyone here. Tell me what you think is the best option so far of what we've all said."
Wolfman: "I'm still a little confused as to what your plan entails Digi. Do you intend teleporting us, or taking us off the path?"
Digifanatic: "It's basic teleportation."
Gibby: "I guess running through in a line works best..."
Trigger: "I say we just run through without falling off the path."
Gibby: "I mean they're -just- CDs."
Digifanatic: "Okay, so we have two so far for running. Alexia? Your idea?"
Alexia: "I might be able to remove some with TK while supporting the others likewise..."
Digifanatic: "That's very possible."
Gibby: "Could you use your powers to stop the CDs from collapsing on us?"
Trigger: "Ok."
Alexia rubs her chin thoughtfully
"Probably."
Gibby: "Then lets do it!"
Digifanatic: "Can't imagine why her idea couldn't work."
Gibby gets himself into a ramming position.
Dragoshi does the same as Gibby.
Alexia attempts to remove a doorway-sized portion of the CDs, while keeping the other supported with her TK.
Digifanatic follows the other two's ideas.
Metal Man (GM): Alexia: MNT check.
Mostly for balancing it.
Aribar watches as nothing happens to the coin. "Okay, nothing happens to a coin that goes off a path. We should still try to stay on this thing. It may be different for living things."
Digifanatic: "It is weird..."
Trigger: "Hmm... endless pit?"
Metal Man (GM): Alexia successfully holds the pile in check, allowing people to walk through it.
Dragoshi dashes through it.
Gibby just gets up normally and walks through it.
"Oh... this works as well."
Digifanatic walks on through.
Alexia walks through it, still holding it up.
Aribar hastens through.
Trigger follows the others.
Digifanatic: "Great idea, 'Lex."
Trigger: "Yeah."
Alexia: "Thanks."
Dragoshi nods in agreement with the other two.
Metal Man (GM): After walking through... you just have to make sure it doesn't fall down behind you.
Wolfman goes through.
Gibby: "You think you can put them back the way they were?"
Alexia tries doing just that.
Metal Man (GM): After getting past that pile, you have a new issue.
Digifanatic flashes an okay sign at Alexia.
Trigger: "Now what?"
Digifanatic: "That was beautiful..."
Wolfman breathes a sigh of relief.
Alexia smiles
"Thanks."
Dragoshi nods in agreement with Digi. "That it was."
Trigger: "Yeah."
Metal Man (GM): Up ahead, you have a new problem.
Aribar gives a brief nod and looks ahead.
Metal Man (GM): Some sort of... force field... blocking the way in.
Gibby: "Hmmm..."
Metal Man (GM): Definitely Eggman's force field.
Alexia: "...Oh, what now?"
Metal Man (GM): It appears to be one stolen from Charles' old technology.
Trigger: "Hmmm..."
Aribar pokes the force field with his shoe.
Wolfman: "...this isn't good."
Metal Man (GM): It repulses the shoe.
Aribar sheaths Moonlight and takes out his dex. The elf scans the field.
Digifanatic looks to see if there's anything generally weird as well.
Wolfman just gets a look while staying on the path... unsure what to do.
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Gibby: "If only there was some way we could break it..."
Trigger: "Can we jump over it? Like pole vault over it?"
Gibby: "...Well we don't really have a pole."
Dragoshi looks at his scythe. "...Nah. That wouldn't work."
Smash Dex: "One of Eggman's force fields. They always have some strange weakness."
Alexia tries flying over it.
Aribar: "According to the dex there should be some weakness to it."
Digifanatic: "Yup..."
Wolfman: "But what?"
Gibby: "A weakness, eh? But what?"
Digifanatic tries to see if he can find a weakness. (Luck checky time!)
Metal Man (GM): Alexia: You can fly over it, but that doesn't get you anywhere.
Trigger: "Weak spot somewhere in the force field?"
Alexia: "Hmm..."
Aribar: "Umm... Wait, are Trigger and I the only ones who can't fly?"
Digifanatic: "Dang it! I can never figure these things out!"
Dragoshi ponders upon what the weakness might be...
Alexia lands back on the path.
Metal Man (GM): Digi decides it needs to be headbutted.
Digifanatic: "I can't."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi decides it must have to do with physics.
Alexia tries examining the field for a weakness.
Dragoshi: "...This HAS to do with physics!"
Trigger tries to slice through the force field.
Wolfman: "Physics? What type?"
*He tries to figure out what Dragoshi means.*
Aribar: "Physics? Bah."
Digifanatic: "Yeah? Something antigravity?"
Gibby: "I can't -stand- physics..."
Trigger: "Hmm, Good thing I took a year of physics back in school."
Aribar: "Well, you have a mage that specializes in bending reality... Any hints on what said mage can do to help?"
Gibby: "HEY! The dex said it had a -strange- weakness, right?"
Trigger: "Let me think for a second."
Dragoshi: "That it did, Gibby."
Wolfman: "Gibby is right... what is a strange physic thing?"
Dragoshi tries to think of what might be a strange thing related to physics...
Alexia: "Uh... A perpetual-motion machine?"
Gibby: "Maybe if we threw a Jackson CD at it, it'll blow up or something."
Trigger: "A certain beam of light?"
Digifanatic: "Strange..."
*He tries to think as well...
He still gets nothing!*
Alexia considers this.
Trigger: "Dragoshi, are you the one with that light beam attack?"
Dragoshi: "No. That's Digi"
Digifanatic: "Me."
Trigger: "Try it."
Alexia: "...I got nothing."
Digifanatic: "It's not out of the possibility."
Aribar fires a small dart of ice at the force field, wondering if magic will help...
Metal Man (GM): More nothing... lots of nothing.
Dragoshi tries again...
Digifanatic tells others to stand back a bit after Ari's attempt and fires off a Light Ray into the forcefield.
Metal Man (GM): Physics is the answer.
Trigger stands back.
Wolfman backs up.
Aribar stands back.
Metal Man (GM): Think... force field... energy made into a wall...
Dragoshi then thinks about what could disrupt this energy made into a wall...
Wolfman tries to ponder these new thoughts...
Trigger: "Maybe we need Kinetic energy?"
Digifanatic: "Not much else I can think of... Oh, hang on..."
Wolfman: "What type of Kinetic energy? Us?"
Trigger: "Yeah. I'm not sure."
Metal Man (GM): You cannot merely out-think it with checks.
You must actually try things.
Wolfman has an idea...
"Guys, stand back."
Aribar: "Kinetic energy?" *The elf stabs the barrier with Moonlight.*
Digifanatic: "Sure..."
Dragoshi stands back."
Aribar stands back after his attempt.
Trigger: "Maybe like a lightsaber beam?"
Digifanatic stands clear of Wolf.
Trigger stands back.
Wolfman will do his idea anyway...
He fires a TopHead buster about... 5 degrees up from his head towards the forcefield.
Metal Man (GM): It hits the field, which glows a bit but doesn't go away yet... as Aribar's sword becomes energized by it.
Aribar begins to be shocked non-stop by electricity.
Trigger: "Has anyone tryed a physical attack?"
Aribar: "Gaaaaaaaa!"
Trigger: "Nevermind."
Aribar tries to break away from the barrier.
Trigger helps Aribar.
He manages to pull Aribar to safety.
Metal Man (GM): STR check, Aribar.
Aribar pulls himself from the field, no Trigger needed.
Aribar pants. "Okay. Striking force field. With metal weapon. Is bad."
Dragoshi thinks for a few seconds "...Nah. Maybe..." Attempts to blast the barrier with a charged up Indignation...
Trigger: "Well, DUH!!"
Wolfman: "At least I know not to do that. Guys, I have another idea."
Trigger: "What's that?"
Gibby: "What's that?"
Trigger: "..."
Gibby: "Jinx! You owe me a coke!"
Trigger: "Crap!"
Wolfman: "...this is a strange time to joke you know."
Aribar: "As long as it doesn't involve... Me attacking that barrier with a weapon again."
Gibby: "What? He does..."
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Metal Man (GM): It bounces off as well.
Wolfman: "I was going to think of hurling myself with a Rocket Tackle."
Metal Man (GM): It appears the barrier electrifies any metals stuck to it.
Gibby: "That -might- not be a good idea..."
Trigger: "I could hit it with my rocket strike?"
Aribar: "Wolf, you would be electrocuted."
Wolfman: "...right."
Digifanatic: "And what is your rocket on the arm made of?"
Gibby imagines Wolf running into the field and turning into ashes.
Dragoshi: "...Well, maybe..." *Pokes it with the blade of his laser scythe.*
Wolfman: "But if metals won't work... what of plastics? Metal conducts.
But plastics don't... at least, not as well."
Metal Man (GM): The blade hits it and appears to pierce it.
However it cannot cut it.
Dragoshi: "...Yes!"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, I dunno who here would use a plastic weap--hey, that works!"
Gibby: "...OOH! Look!"
Trigger: "What?"
Gibby: "...Nevermind."
Aribar: "Eh?" *Looks at Dragoshi.*
"Okay, so a laser goes through. How does that help? None of us are made of... Laser."
Dragoshi: "Lessee... Magic doesn't work, but my laser scythe does... Maybe"
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Gibby: "Lasers aren't my thing."
Wolfman: "We might be poorly equipped..."
Trigger: "Only if Julian was here."
Dragoshi: "Maybe I can use it to pierce through the barrier, breaking it" *Attempts to use his scythe to do so.*
Trigger: "We could push him into the force field and watch him fry."
Digifanatic: "Only thing I can imagine, Dragoshi. Go for it."
Wolfman: "Dragoshi... I have an idea, but I might need you to help. It might only get me through. You do yours first."
Metal Man (GM): You stick it in, and all goes well until it hits the metal part.
Then you are zapped.
Dragoshi attempts to break free.
Metal Man (GM): Shocking!
50 electric damage from continued exposure!
Dragoshi tries AGAIN.
Metal Man (GM): You barely wrench it out.
Dragoshi: "...Phew."
Wolfman: "Can't we just teleport across it?"
Dragoshi pulls out a Mushroom and eats it.
Wolfman: "Or use a magnet?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, how big is it? Magnet... that's a good idea."
Wolfman: "...or should we just call Metal?"
Trigger: "Hmm..."
Metal Man (GM): It's about an inch thick and blocks most possible routes to the destination.
Digifanatic: "But I don't think anyone has one."
Gibby: "Metal usually knows what to do."
Wolfman: "I'm sure I have some sort of magnet within me."
Aribar: "I don't have any magnetic items on me..."
Digifanatic: "Wait a second..."
Wolfman: "Yes Digi?"
Dragoshi: "...?"
Metal Man (GM): The solution to this puzzle is under your nose. :p
Digifanatic: "Maybe if we all turn on our Dexes and try to pretend to call someone..."
Wolfman: "Wait a second..."
Gibby sighs.
Dragoshi: "..."
Gibby: "This is frustrating!"
Wolfman wonders... he decides to look down.
Digifanatic: "We could create enough of an electromagnetic field to disturb the field."
Trigger: "Wait..."
*He looks down.*
Dragoshi looks down as well.
Gibby looks down with the others.
Trigger: "Mirror... I think we need one."
Wolfman: "Guys, stand back."
Gibby: "...What are we looking for?"
Aribar: "..."
*He stands back.
* "What are you going to do?"
Wolfman jumps up, and attempts to rocket tackle himself DOWNWARD for a little.
Gibby just stands back.
Digifanatic: "That's why they don't allow cellphones to be used on airplanes. It destroys their navigation, so this could work..."
Trigger stands back.
Metal Man (GM): Wolf bounces off the ground.
Wolfman rebounds Fox style.
Gibby: "...Was there a point to that?"
Metal Man (GM): It's dirt. It can't be destroyed by direct contact unless you're a meteor.
Aribar: "The point of that was...?"
Wolfman: "...I thought we could try going under."
Digifanatic: "Does anyone want to try my theory?"
Dragoshi: "Sure, why not?"
Gibby: "We got nothing else..."
Trigger stands next to the force field, takes out his dex and starts to make calls.
Digifanatic: "Everyone just turn all of them on..."
Aribar takes out his dex. "Should calls anywhere work?"
Trigger: "Yeah."
Digifanatic: "Well..."
Wolfman: "...My idea to call Metal was the right one?"
Dragoshi pulls out his Dex and turns it on.
Wolfman turns on his dex.
Smash Dex: "Unable to complete call."
Gibby picks up his dex and turns his on.
Aribar calls himself.
Trigger: "We need interference."
Smash Dex: *High pitched feedback noise.*
Wolfman decides to send some sort of signal to the force field... I don't know: Tetris game?
Gibby: "GAH!"
*He shuts his off.
* "That's not helping us."
Metal Man (GM): It comes from Aribar's dex.
Digifanatic: "That was weird."
Trigger: "No, turn it back on. We need interference."
Aribar tries to cover the speaker with his hand... Somehow.
Gibby: "What we -need- is to think for a minute."
Trigger: "Can't you mute it?"
Digifanatic: "Okay, Trigger. Are you picking this up on your Dex?"
Gibby sits down and gets in a position much like that statue "The Thinker".
Aribar: "Bah." *The elf just puts it away.*
Digifanatic: "This is screwed up."
Trigger: "No."
Digifanatic: "Man... " *Shuts off Dex.*
Aribar: "Hrm."
Wolfman shuts off his dex.
Gibby: "Hmmmm... force field... strange weakness... lasers..."
Digifanatic puts his palm up to his forehead...
Trigger shuts off dex.
Aribar fires a Bolt spell at the field.
Dragoshi does the same as Wolf
He Earth Bites the field.
Metal Man (GM): The spell briefly shocks the field, but it doesn't get knocked out.
Then it is hit by dirt and shorts out violently.
Dragoshi: "YES!"
Gibby: "..."
Aribar: "...What did you do?"
Gibby: "DIRT!"
Trigger: "...****!"
Dragoshi: "And, Earth Bite prevails!"
Digifanatic: "OH MY GOD..."
Wolfman: "...let's just hurry along before it reactivates."
Aribar: "...Why would he make DIRT the weakness? That's just stupid..."
Digifanatic: "Yeah!"
Trigger run through.
Aribar walks through.
Gibby: "Apparently the dirt from his Earth Bite stopped the field... dirt was the 'strange weakness'."
Digifanatic starts to run...
Wolfman continues along the path.
Gibby runs through it.
Dragoshi runs as well.
Digifanatic: "And Ari, it'd probably be one of the few elements his enemies would overlook..."
Metal Man (GM): You run forth... but the fridge has one more obstacle!
Digifanatic: "A lor of people naturally think fire, ice, water..."
Trigger: "NOT WHAT!!?"
Gibby stops in front of the (hopefully) last obstacle.
Digifanatic: "I wouldn't have thought of Earth--not because it's not one of my attacks..."
Trigger: "Same here."
Dragoshi: "...I did. 'Cause that's the element I can switch my attacks to"
Digifanatic: "Exactly. And it worked out fine."
Metal Man (GM): Your next obstacle... is a large steam engine!
Trigger: "...Wow."
Gibby: "Eh? What's this then?"
Dragoshi: "...Fuh?"
Wolfman gets a look...
Metal Man (GM): Hmm... it appears to be... a phantom train?
Dragoshi: "..."
Aribar: "...What is this?"
Gibby: "A train-like thingy..."
Wolfman is trying to make this out... a train...?
Metal Man (GM): It is blocking the way.
Digifanatic: "Okay... let's see. These things are run by heating water, right?"
Dragoshi: "Yea."
Trigger: "...This can't be good."
Metal Man (GM): This appears to have escaped the X-zone somehow, as it radiates waves of strange energy.
Gibby: "I'll try floating over it."
Wolfman: "You suggest cooling it?"
Digifanatic: "Or if you can make it run, you can move it out of the way.:."
Gibby takes notice of the path.
Digifanatic: "Well..."
Metal Man (GM): It starts up, seeing you, before then beginning... to drive towards you.
Trigger: "I have a strange feeling that we shouldn't mess with this train."
Aribar: "Oh, piffle!"
Dragoshi: "...Crap."
Wolfman: "Slag it!"
Trigger: "OH ****!"
Gibby sighs.
Wolfman attempts to FLY UP!
Aribar rushes towards the train and tries to leap up on top of it!
Gibby: "Evil trains!"
Digifanatic: "Quick, yeah!"
Metal Man (GM): There's a wall of steam above it.
Trigger: "Little help here!!!"
Gibby inhales some air and starts floating upward to dodge the train.
Digifanatic attempts to get on Dragoshi's back if he allows...
"I got a plan!"
Metal Man (GM): There's a wall of steam atop it... Gibby and Aribar are punted forwards for 50 damage.
Dragoshi allows, and starts flying up.
Gibby: "GAH!"
Dragoshi then stops.
Trigger: "...Not good."
Digifanatic decides to try and launch a Light Ray at it... with Elemental Will to make it Ice Ray!
Gibby gets up and shakes his head.
Digifanatic: "See if THIS cools it down..."
Aribar: "Oof!" *Is smacked back a few yards...*
Trigger: "You idiots... I'm still down here!!"
Metal Man (GM): Your ray gives it an icy set of spikes.
Gibby: "That wasn't fun..."
Digifanatic: "OH CRAP!"
Gibby slowly makes his way back to the others.
Wolfman goes to pick up Trigger.
Dragoshi tries to MELT the spikes of ice with his flame breath.
Trigger gets on Wolf.
Metal Man (GM): It's chasing you... on a path which you didn't remember being behind you.
Trigger: "Thanks."
Wolfman starts taking the new path... old path?
"Okay guys, stick to the path."
Gibby: "Right..."
Dragoshi then follows Wolf, nodding.
Wolfman starts to hurry along this path... luckily, he's a fast Wolf, even with a passenger.
Gibby goes down the path.
Metal Man (GM): Oh, right.
The icy spikes are now on fire.
Digifanatic: "Maybe this path just leads us to where we're supposed to be and it's nice and wide at a certain point..."
Aribar flees down the path.
Trigger: "HOW IS THAT REMOTELY POSSIBLE!!??"
Metal Man (GM): The Phantom Train is now chasing you down the path, exuding X-zone rays everywhere.
It blows the whistle twice before speeding up... uh-oh... you can't outpace it forever!
Gibby: "What do we do? What do we DO?"
Trigger: "GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER!!"
Wolfman: "Good thing I can use my Kilo Crush all around me!"
Metal Man (GM): As it follows you, you see it uses the path as a track.
Wolfman: "Trigger, hang on."
Trigger: "Ok."
Digifanatic: "I wish we had some explosives..."
Trigger holds on for dear life.
Metal Man (GM): Besides that it seems invincible.
Wolfman activates his Kilo Crush: circular attack, should hit the train... or if need be, the TRACK behind him.
Dragoshi: *Still moving*"...Hmm... It's using the path as a track..."
Aribar quickly turns about and launches an icy mist at the bottom of the train. He hopes to freeze over the wheels... (Chilling Light.)
Gibby: "But we can't go off the path, remember?"
Metal Man (GM): Circular attack? What type?
Element, range, etc?
Dragoshi: "Yea, I know."
Metal Man (GM): The train is momentarily slowed down.
Trigger: "Hey Wolf, wanna try a tag team attack on the train?"
Metal Man (GM): I mean element of the damage.
What sort of damage it does to the ground.
Wolfman: "What move do you have in mind?"
Metal Man (GM): Wolf's attack makes a small dent in the ground which the train bounces over.
Gonna need more than that to stop it.
Aribar tries doing that again to slow the train down a bit more...
Metal Man (GM): Again; it continues to move at the same, slightly slower pace.
But you have yet to stop it.
Aribar: "Freeze the wheels!"
Wolfman: "Trigger, what move do you have in mind here?"
Metal Man (GM): It powers up and fires a laser at Aribar from its headlamp.
Wolfman is still running here.
Metal Man (GM): *TSEER*
100 laser damage if that hits.
Aribar is tseer'd... And now nearly dead.
He downs one an Ivantek healing vial while continuing to run away.
Gibby: "Well... I -was- going to use one of these for battle, but this seems like an emergency to me!"
Digifanatic decides that there's one more possibility... again, manipulating towards the Ice element, he fires off a Hyper Beam Matrix at the train.
Dragoshi uses a charged up Earth Bite on a spot of the ground behind him and flies away like hell.
Wolfman: "Trigger, you mentioned teaming up. I need to know what you want to team up with."
.oO(It's the quiet passengers that are the worst.)
Aribar: "Hey, I've got an idea! I need a flyer to keep me from dying, though!"
Wolfman: "I'm taken!"
Metal Man (GM): The train gets iced a little more, but then the ground gets dented and bounces again.
Wolfman and Trigger: TEAM UP! (description coming)
Metal Man (GM): Gotta do something extra than just bounce it.
Dragoshi continues flying away.
Digifanatic: "You know... if we can create another type of forcefield against the train..."
Metal Man (GM): The train breathes fire at Dragoshi.
75 fire damage.
Aribar: "Oh, blast it all." *The elf continues running while half-turned around, his hand pointing at the top of the train.*
Dragoshi gets charbroiled for 68 damage (68/325) "...It did NOT just copy me."
Wolfman: *Desc* *Trigger jumps a little off of me as he starts his Hurricane Sword Slash. I activate my Rocket Tackle, using feet for propulsion. I time it so that he gets propulsed to the ground to make a big dent. HURRICANE REVERSE TACKLE!*
Metal Man (GM): You create a giant dent. The train flies into the air, exposing its underside....
Wolfman: "Guys, fire at the underside!"
Aribar would try to force the steam coming out of the top to condense into water and freeze over the top pipes, thus making steam build up in the engine... The elf hopes it will eventually blow up. He tries to keep the icy covering solid since the hot steam would probably melt it fast.
Gibby waits for Wolf/Trigger to finish their attack, and then pulls out an Ivantek grenade. He pulls the trigger and while running, hurls it at the train's underside in hopes of bringing it to a COMPLETE halt. (DC 18)
Metal Man (GM): Before Aribar's attack can hit... The Phantom Train, being stuck in the air, is in no condition to dodge the grenade.
BLAM! It explodes violently mid-air.
+1000 EXP to everyone.
Digifanatic: "Oh, phew..."
Dragoshi fires a Cyclone attempting t-Nevermind.
Gibby stops running and pants.
Dragoshi: "...Nice one." *LEVEL UP!*
Gibby: "That... was... close..."
Trigger has Leveled up.
Wolfman slows down.
Aribar: "Okay. Anyone need healed?"
Gibby: "Nah, I'm fine... just tired."
Aribar: "If not then we should move out back to the fridge."
*He Restores himself.*
Dragoshi: "...Eh. I only got slightly burnt."
Trigger: "I'm good."
Wolfman: "Good idea Trigger; thanks."
Metal Man (GM): You find yourselves... standing in front of the fridge.
Trigger: "No prob."
Aribar Restores Dragoshi. +31 HP.
Gibby: "Well... we're here."
Dragoshi: "A-thank-you."
Aribar tries to open the fridge's door...
Digifanatic stands right near...
Metal Man (GM): The fridge door opens up... and reveals an area just inside the Gravity Egg.
Wolfman watches.
Dragoshi does the same as Digi.
Trigger stands back.
Wolfman: .oO(Okay, this is a strange realm.)
Aribar unsheaths Moonlight. "Let's make this quick..."
Wolfman agrees.
Trigger: "Yeah."
Gibby: "Right..."
Aribar steps out of the Astral Realm and into the Gravity egg.
Gibby leaps into the fridge.
Trigger follows Aribar.
Wolfman follows.
Dragoshi follows as well.
Metal Man (GM): *WARP.*
Digifanatic is in there as well.
Metal Man (GM): PART ONE COMPLETE
Lake Hyrule
Also, 26 chapters so far in Season 6.
Editor's Note: Heh, but I had to re-do those chapters anyways, so it's not like that progress matters that much...
Metal Man (GM): Thing-o
Trevor: "I have found something. It is of immediate interest, importance, and cannot be conveyed through text.
It is... right through a door, across a hall, and up a flight of stairs."
Metal Man (GM): Arrows appear to point towards the destination.
Charles Magellean cranks his neck. Seeing as how Trevor speaking is technically text spoke through sound waves, he follows the arrows, wondering what could delay the quest for his book.
Metal Man (GM): You walk through some corridors... and wind up on a balcony overlooking a lab which is shaped like a bullet (Circular, flat floor, walls go up 30 feet before arching at the ceiling, you're on a 15 foot up balcony overlooking it all)
There's a bunch of machines everywhere... but the biggest thing of importance is a large computer on this balcony. 'Holo-Theatre 3000'
Trevor: "This was built in defiance of the laws of the time. It is 5 inches below the surface of the ground outside of the crater. There's a doorway which leads directly into the deadly light.
And there's a quizzical hologram of someone speaking here too. On this computer-thing."
Charles Magellean: "Knowledge. Can it be activated?"
Trevor: "Yes."
Charles Magellean: "Do so."
Trevor: "Hologram activated."
Kairah Mardeneigh?: "You are viewing a hologram from the last surviving Neo-Earth civilization. I am Kairah Mardeneigh, grand scientist of the few remaining intelligent beings here. It is this video in which I begin an experiment to create the most powerful weapon ever made."
Editor's Note: Wow, trying to tie it all together huh... of course, like the other Neo-Earthian things, this is just a false reality, given the real Kairah... well see the end of Season 10 for his story.
Charles Magellean scratches his chin, the prickling stubs on the bottom of it being slightly felt.
Metal Man (GM): You see a strange man in a white labcoat, with messed up brown hair, thick glasses, blue eyes, and black boots holding strange looking rods and devices, linking them together to form some sort of assembly.
Kairah Mardeneigh?: "This shall be known as the X-zone blaster, and will be the most destructive device known to man. Sadly, I lack test subjects."
Metal Man (GM): He puts it together as some sort of gun, and then the thing fades from existence.
The hologram, that is.
Trevor: "It is corrupted past that. I would have listed it with the other dead people's logs, except it mentioned the X-zone. Pieces resembling what he used lay about, though there is not enough to make a copy of his gun.
Destructive power is measured to be beyond the limit of matter to take... if it was used, it would do the impossible, unbalance the universe and actually destroy matter.
Unlike Rand's guns, this is purely mortal technology.
In fact it would defeat another person with one of Rand's guns. It appears to fire a continuous stream of matter-erasing mind-boggling insanity."
Charles Magellean: "I remember having my own X-zone blaster. If this is of Neo-Earth, then the designs are truly superior to what my architects created."
Trevor: "It is good you didn't get this good... this blaster, if it hadn't vanished, would be a step above all the other inventions we found. The wielder could just waltz in anywhere, utterly annihilate everything in his way... heck. Carve a hole through walls, people, and buildings, and even planets to wherever they wanted.
This would be the fictional last step before infinite power is reached.
I say that because I doubt it worked."
Charles Magellean: "Nevertheless, my expectations for this finding were high. The X-zone was sealed, so nothing can be used from it."
Trevor: "...This gun does not use the X-zone, sir. It's more likely to create one."
Charles Magellean: "...A gun so powerful to rip the fabric of reality. My expectations were reached, after all."
Trevor: "Naturally, we wondered what happened to it. All we could find were references to some sort of destructive event. Mostly computer systems complaining of all non-shaded things being obliterated by light... a few months after what is listed as 'The loudest explosion ever made'."
Charles Magellean: "No doubt it had to do with the Solarian - Neo-Earthian war."
Trevor: "We will be sealing this place off once we are sure nothing else sits here. We have begun a zoning system for the sealed zones. The first zone being residential. Zone R. This is Zone K, for Kairah.
This occurred after it. The man had no real enemies. He made it anyway."
Charles Magellean: "The apex of their society, then. It then brought about their final destruction, no doubt."
Trevor: "Most likely. He was challenging the laws set by their God. Sources indicate we could find new places like this if we could cross the crater. Light-proof armor is being made."
Charles Magellean: "I will be on stand by."
Trevor: "You may be looking at the predecessor to Smithy's project. If this is the right connection, then we may be able to forget the book and go with the more powerful original material. The X-zone cannot just be sealed and used... it was created."
Charles Magellean eyes widen.
Trevor: "The materials here are unencoded, being made by a law-hating scientist. If we should ever need an X-Zone blaster replica, we could begin construction and finish within a year."
Charles Magellean: "I truly doubt something destructive like that should be used."
Trevor: "Correct, which is why the materials have been stored in the most secure way possible."
Charles Magellean: "In a safe deposit box?"
Trevor: "Separate, hidden, password-protected, misnamed, in areas nobody knows."
Charles Magellean checks his watch. He looks up.
"Is the portable holographer ready yet?"
Trevor: "With help from this model here, yes. Nothing much else to report, sir, except a being named Shadow the Hedgehog was spotted warping through time and space recently, over some sort of incident.
Spectograms confirm Turion warp and usage of astral technology.
The light prevents us from receiving audio or video pictures, sadly."
Charles Magellean: "Seems someone paid Aetos a visit. No concern of mine. Give the holographer to me.
Thank you."
Trevor: "If you are done... this lab is to be sealed, like the rest. We cannot let anyone detect any possible light-piercing signals it could project or access it if they manage to see through the Light."
Charles Magellean leaves the room. "Begin the sealing procedure."
Trevor: "Yes sir." *Follows.*
Metal Man (GM): And as the two walk off...
The silhouette of a man watches from behind the Holo-theatre.
???: "Oh yes... here they are. People coming to find the truth. I cannot let them discover the truth... it is far too dangerous."
Metal Man (GM): He walks away, down a hallway and into the shadows, as the vault door shuts on the entire area.
Charles Magellean: "We may go to the room you have designated for warping through the earth and cores of Nintendus."
Trevor: "The room is ready, yes."
Charles Magellean: "If you may escort me."
*He activates the holographer after putting it in on his chest. It sticks to him.*
Metal Man (GM): He walks through some more 'CONFIDENTIAL' doors with you following, until reaching the center of Valhalla, into a specially designated room.
Trevor: "With all of our power focused right, you can warp on to an area near Quester HQ."
Charles Magellean: "Excuse me." *He turns around. He whispers.* "Haxgel, we will be going to the Dark. Now is the time for you to tell me the coordinates for us to begin the plan."
Unknown Being: "Hmmm... 22. 34. 57.
We attempt to see if it is possible to gain the book via trickery."
Charles Magellean activates the Holographer. He dons the disguise of how the members of Organization XIII were clothed in the Kingdom Hearts series. He puts on the hood, his holographic silver hair seen to be covering his right eye, his mouth just under his jacket. The symbol of XIII is replaced with a stack of 5 books and a sword through all 5 of them.
Unknown Being turns around to face Trevor.
"Set the coordinates to the following: 22. 34. 57."
Trevor: "Inputted. Warp active."
Metal Man (GM): You see a weird-looking warp in the middle of the room.
Unknown Being enters it. "I will return, Trevor. Maintain radio silence."
Trevor: "Affirmative."
Metal Man (GM): *Fadeout.*
