Metal Man (GM): Charles' cross-country marathon
Er. Just another moment. THEN I can sit here until 9:00 PM PST.
Okay.
Charles is still running, near... Toad Town, I believe.
Charles Magellean last time, had decided the only way to leave the Dark Side of Nintendus ( pictured here: http://archive.metalman88.com/MissionMap8_2.PNG ) was to run straight from where the Pentagon is (lower-right part of the map) to Atlantis located on Lake Atlas (left side of the map). Having run for several hours, he continues running from where he was paused (½ inch below the first "o" in the name "Toad Town").
"This... is just too crazy. How much farther is it to Lake Atlas?? I'm starting to empty the remaining energy in my body."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "Just a few more miles."
Charles Magellean: "More like ...40 kilomete---" *Looks to Ivan* "Finally had enough energy to change form, eh?"
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "I picked up on his form as we passed his city."
Charles Magellean: "Well at least I don't have to look at Kuja's grotesque face anymore."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "Eh. We're almost there."
Metal Man (GM): You run... and run... and reach a beach.
Charles Magellean passes the outskirts of Toad Town, not even passing so much as taking a step into it. Traveling north by northwest, Charles continues his running and whatever Mahlec does for an additional 30 minutes. Upon passing the 30+ minute mark, they arrive at a beach; the outskirts of Lake Atlas. Charles then reaches the beach and... FLOP.
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "We are here... but it appears we must cross this ocean somehow."
Charles Magellean: *He picks his head up from out of the sand, sitting cross-legged again.* "And not a moment too soon. I'm completely tapped, and I need about 10 minutes to rest."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "So... what are your plans?"
Charles Magellean: "To cross the great lake: I swim with Smithy's book in my mouth so the book's pages won't get soaked and illegible. In Atlantis: we set the coordinates for the Light Side of Nintendus and return to Valhalla."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "As you wish."
Charles Magellean: "Mahlec, you and I both know that we can't stay here in the Dark side. I get in the middle of a conflict, and if I die, it's permanent."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "Ah, yes. I forgot, because, being your darker side, this sort of place feels at home for me."
Charles Magellean looks to Mahlec in the corner of his eye. "You are a Nobody. You are neither of the light or the dark, but in-between."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "...Have you recovered yet?"
Charles Magellean gets up, wobbles a bit, but regains his balance.
*He takes out the book of Top Secret information and inserts it into his mouth; it's too big for him to close his mouth, but he'll put his head up above the water as much as possible.* "Oo-khay. Ow all I hath ho ho ith thim ho Hahanhis uun wll vee huunn-threa."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "Yes. Exactly."
Charles Magellean runs into the water. When he begins to have trouble moving with his legs, he makes a short hop and gets into a swimmer stance. With head and book above water, he swims with moderate speed so as to not tire himself out too quickly.
Metal Man (GM): The water is salty, so it's easier to float.
Charles Magellean: .oO(I have got to remember to not speak with my mouth full of information.) *After tasting some of the water* .oO(OH yuck! That is just disgusting to taste.)
*He swims, and swims, and --hey, a jellyfish! Whoop, good thing its tentacles aren't hanging out.*
Metal Man (GM): It's quite a swim, but the waters are calm.
You eventually reach the rim of Atlantis, which magically floats just an inch above the water.
Charles Magellean reaches up ever so slightly. He crawls out, slowly standing up. He shakes much of the water off his clothes, takes the book out of his mouth with both hands, and spits out about 23 fl. oz. of salt water that got in his throat.
He stands for another minute to regain some more energy. He then shakes off the remaining dripping water, then runs into Atlantis this time.
He enters the hollowed building again, like he did last season. A feeling of sadness befalls him again.
Metal Man (GM): You run inside, reaching the massive four-walled room, with the portal.
It lights up, empty yet alive, so to speak.
The imprint of Xalron's body still lays on the floor.
Charles Magellean: "...Here we are again."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "It always comes back to here."
Charles Magellean looks to the imprint of The Void's Nobody. "The Void..."
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "This area is still lit up with energy. Those who died and lost here did not lose willingly."
Charles Magellean: "The Void that threatened us all is gone, so my vow to be destined to battle it is broken. And as far as Sephiroth goes..."
*He droops his head.* "He's... he's right. What business do I have in the light?"
Mahlec (Ivan Robotnik): "Hm."
Charles Magellean: "I am not a person of Order. Not finding comfort to live in the Dark, frightened by the creature of the Light, I am Nothing. A Nobody; something that lives in the twilight."
???: "Who is it who has come to this place?"
Metal Man (GM): You hear a man's voice echo down a corridor.
Charles Magellean looks to the console, ignoring the voice.
"It's time I returned to the twilight. I have much to think about."
*He finally notices the voice. He slowly turns his head to the direction of the echoing voice.*
Metal Man (GM): You see... ...a man in Atlantean robes.
Tirk Tovnic: "Ah, you. You must have been looking for me, Tirk Tovnic, of the Mages Council."
Charles Magellean: "Posing as the Knowledge Seeker... I was."
Metal Man (GM): He stares at you quietly before looking around.
Tirk Tovnic: "I have longed to unlock the secrets of this chamber. Do you know them?"
Charles Magellean turns to face Tirk directly. At least he can complete this part.
"All I remember of this place is that is the final battle site of The Void and the grave site of Sardis Mongul and the Nobodies."
Metal Man (GM): He snaps his fingers.
Tirk Tovnic: "So that's why it has all that energy. Now if I can just channel it, I should be able to get the true value of this place."
Charles Magellean: "...My last deeds. You said you are of the Mages Council, correct?"
Tirk Tovnic: "The head, no less. I study Atlantean magic."
Metal Man (GM): He looks at the room again, feeling the walls.
Tirk Tovnic: "Yes... that's it."
Charles Magellean: "With what Kuja and The Void did to this place, you will be overcoming their energies for a while."
Tirk Tovnic: "This is a simulacrum for some sort of energy charger. While its original eye is gone, I can merely absorb the energy latently in this room myself. Of course, to do so safely, I'd have to ask you to step off to the side, or warp out. There's a ton of energy in here."
Charles Magellean: "I will be leaving, yes. No longer a Quester, I feel as though I have no place on Nintendus anymore."
Tirk Tovnic: "You could become a Mages Council member. Your magic is unlike any of our other members."
Charles Magellean goes over to the console. He begins to type in the coordinates of The Moon. "I will have to think it over, but... why consider a former Quester a member? I can only assume they destroyed one of your main HQs."
Tirk Tovnic: "No, it's a foundation made to control magic. We can't deal with Lunarian magic without... a Lunarian. Otherwise I would merely ignore you and let you go.
Though you are free to leave at any time."
Charles Magellean: "I will consider it, Tovnic. By the way... On my homeworld, there was a Dark Arts spell that was more powerful than any other; so powerful, it became forbidden to cast. Reviewing notes about Sephiroth, it seems he was capable of using it before. The forbidden spell is known as Meteor."
*He looks to Tirk.* "Is it by chance that you warlocks and sorceress know of it as well?"
Tirk Tovnic: "Yes. That is why we need your help. He can use many spells familiar to you. We tried to get Kuja on our side back when, however he not only scoffed at us, but overpowered us with weakling magic. Apparently he can turn a Fire 1 into some sort of nightmarish city-destroying attack."
Charles Magellean: "I... must go."
Metal Man (GM): Tirk Tovnic salutes.
Tirk Tovnic: "I wish you hope on your journey."
Charles Magellean enters the final coordinates. "Good-bye, leader of the Council."
Metal Man (GM): Tirk Tovnic nods.
Charles Magellean salutes back. He enters the portal to return to his true home: The Moon.
Metal Man (GM): The machine hums, and warps you to the Second Moon. Just as you warp, you see Tirk make some sort of incantation... a shame you couldn't see the results, though it was definately not related to you.
You reappear back at base.
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Welcome back, Charles. And to think, we thought you had gotten lost somewhere."
Charles Magellean: "Tell me: How do I reach the top of this building outside?"
Ricky Koopa: "Just a climb up a ladder."
*He points to an 'fire escape' area, complete with ladder.*
Charles Magellean: "Thanks. Out of curiosity, do you three know of the situations going on back on Nintendus?"
Ricky Koopa: "We keep up with the newscasts."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Questers blowing things up... never changes."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "Nothing abnormal."
Charles Magellean: "Neo-Earth people being revived... Sephiroth revived... Dracula's return."
F.A.Y.T.H.: "All of those are just a part of a cycle. I cannot predict it, but power ratings are stable."
Charles Magellean: "All irrelevant to here. Time does not seem to move here... which is just how I require it. I will be outside... deeply thinking about what troubles me."
*He climbs the fire escape ladder.* "Do not be concerned for how long I stay outside."
Bob, Lord of Electric Death: "Whatever you say."
Charles Magellean opens the hatch, climbs out, then closes it. He reaches the very top of the building, and sits cross-legged.
*Even though there is no air outside, he can survive. He's part Lunarian.*
*He closes his eyes.*
.oO(Not in the Light... or the Dark... where is it I belong?)
.oO(...Perhaps nowhere.)
*Fadeout*
Editor's Note: More true than he could ever know, at the time.
Metal Man (GM): Mission
The Questers are in the big room, as usual.
Julian Sawyer's got his feet up, as usual "What's the word, Mets?"
Digifanatic: "Hey."
Metal Man (GM): Mission 8 has been selected. Metal looks over it, bringing up a half-hologram of Gunicard.
Trigger: "...Must... get... keys..."
Alexia smacks Trigger.
Trigger: "Oww, thanks."
Alexia: "Snap out of it!"
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Aetos: "So what do you have to do in this mission?"
Gibby: "We'll find them eventually."
Digifanatic: "Yes... anyways, Metal."
Valentine Kilmer: "Let's focus on why we're here."
Digifanatic: "Yes. Please."
Azure watches silently.
Metal Man: "Definitely a tricky deal. Mostly switching of buttons."
Gibby grins.
Metal Man: "Watch out for what could be there, we have no clue as to what state it's in."
Gibby: "Oh really?"
Alexia looks at Gibby.
Digifanatic: "Oh no..."
Metal Man: "Yes. The CORRECT buttons."
Julian Sawyer: "Long as it doesn't ask us to load up another nuke."
Alexia: "DO NOT TOUCH UNLESS YOU ARE INSTRUCTED TO."
Digifanatic: "Gibby, don't bonkers out on us right now."
Gibby: "Meep!"
Alexia points a finger in Gibby's face.
Gibby shrinks himself to the floor.
Alexia: "Got it?"
Gibby: "I'll be good..."
Alexia: "Good. Now then..."
*She turns back to Metal.*
Valentine Kilmer: "So we're to get the station back online?"
Julian Sawyer: "That it, Mets?"
Azure eyes Gibby. .oO(He says he will be good now but the very instant he can see one...)
Ninja: "Ah! ...I am not good with computer stuff."
Gibby: "Join the club..."
Azure: "Neither am I. In fact... I'm absolutely dreadful with the contraptions."
Julian Sawyer: "I got it covered."
Ninja: "Will there be sneaking?"
Trigger: "Me too."
Aetos: "Isn't Scott's guitar... you know... computer-accessible?"
Dragoshi: "...Well, I have some expertise with computers and their controls, so I can help if Julian's preoccupied..."
Alexia: "Don't know a lick about them."
Julian Sawyer: "An' last time we tried to use it, didn' work."
Metal Man: "That's about it... can't say I can predict everything, but that's the mission."
Digifanatic: "Let's see... yeah, Scott, Trigger, myself, and I believe Julian are all pretty good at this."
Gibby: "Well we'll try out best!"
Alexia: "My best area is with archaics, but some help THAT'll be here."
Metal Man: "I shall come, as usual."
Scott Gibson: "Yeah, I can access computers with it easily now."
Gibby: "I also got that hacking device if it's necessary."
Valentine Kilmer: "I know a few things about computers. I am no Laughing Man. But I can get by."
Scott Gibson: "I fixed that Julian."
Julian Sawyer: "Doubt we gonna hafta hack anythin', Gibbs."
Gibby: "Well you never know..."
Alexia: "I'll keep an eye on Gibby."
Trigger: "Yeah."
Gibby: "I -don't- need a babysitter!"
Dragoshi: "...Good idea."
Julian Sawyer: "Says you."
Metal Man: "That is about all there is to it." *Activates the warp elevator.*
Alexia: "You do here."
Scott Gibson: "My guitar's been fixed up so that data error's fixed. I'm able to access stuff now."
Valentine Kilmer: "I have a suggestion."
Azure: "It's when the eyes aren't on Gibby that you should worry. Are we ready?"
Gibby: "Humph... no respect..."
Alexia: "I'm ready."
Trigger: "Lets go."
Dragoshi: "Well, I'm ready."
Alexia walks into the elevator.
Gibby: "Err... what's the suggestion, Ms. Kilmer?"
Digifanatic: "I'm ready, and Azure, I don't think it could have been said better."
*He follows in.*
Trigger walks to the elevator as well.
Valentine Kilmer: "I will reward Gibby with his favorite snack if he doesn't touch any controls."
Dragoshi walks towards the elevator.
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight, let's get this over with." *Julian heads onto the elevator.*
Gibby: "...PIE???"
The Ninja: "Any hints or tips, Metal?"
Valentine Kilmer: "Yes, Gibby."
*He she then hovers into the warp.*
Azure laughs mildly at the pie comment as he heads to the warp.
Gibby smiles brightly as he steps into the warp.
Metal Man walks onto the elevator. WARP. Shortly after, the Questers follow. WARP!
The Ninja does the same.
Metal Man (GM): You all appear at Gunicard, however... it is eeerily silent, and you're in a sector you've never been to before.
Alexia: "Weird..."
Gibby: "...The silence is deafening."
Azure: "Silence and steel two things I prefer not to hear."
Trigger: "I know."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Trigger: "Which way do we go?"
Metal Man (GM): One sec.
Digifanatic: "Well... start looking for some controls or something."
Trigger: "Ok."
Julian Sawyer sees if he can pull up a map or something on his Dex.
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm." *She then begins to look around.*
Metal Man (GM): You're, basically, in a very cramped square room. It's nearly completely dark, and very cold.
Trigger starts to search for a light switch.
Julian Sawyer also uses his Dex to provide light.
Metal Man (GM): A single turned-off computer sits in the corner, by the only source of light, a window facing Nintendus.
Alexia: "Looks more appropriate for a haunted house..."
Digifanatic: "Ah..."
Metal Man (GM): Trigger: You find one, two, three of them. They're all already on.
Julian Sawyer: "Looks don't exactly apply here..."
Digifanatic checks out the computer...
Dragoshi checks out a computer as well.
Julian Sawyer: *Everybody crowd around the computer now!*
Gibby walks over to the window. He felt better with the light.
Trigger checks out the computer as well.
Alexia walks over to the computer.
Metal Man (GM): It's off. Despite having a keyboard and screen.
Valentine Kilmer: "Seems we are to turn the power on, First."
Digifanatic looks for a power switch.
Metal Man (GM): It's set to the 'on' position, but seems pitch black.
No power.
Trigger: "Odd."
Digifanatic: "Oh my goodness..."
Julian Sawyer: "...Wow, now I can see why Ivan had such trust in your strategic genius."
Valentine Kilmer: "We need to locate the main power grind."
Alexia: "Maybe the power's been cut."
Metal Man (GM): There's doors, one for each wall, save for the one with the glass on it, so there's three doors to pick from.
Gibby: "Where would that be?"
Digifanatic: "Most likely."
Azure: *just waits for someone to tell him something about it knowing he would miss what they say anyway.*
Trigger: "I could search for a generator?"
Julian Sawyer: "I'm thinkin' split-up."
Trigger: "Ok."
Digifanatic: "Three doors..."
Azure: "I'd agree."
Dragoshi: "...I suppose so..."
Digifanatic: "Usually, I wouldn't suggest splitting up, but there are a pretty good number of us... what, 8 or 9?"
Trigger: "I'll take the 2nd door."
Gibby whimpers a little.
Trigger: "Anyone wanna come with me?"
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight, I'll go with one group, Val'll go with a group, an' Digi'll go with another."
Valentine Kilmer: "It will cause the search to go faster, but it'll weaken our power."
Azure: "I'll accompany you."
Digifanatic: "Yeah."
Trigger: "Ok."
Digifanatic: "Fine."
Alexia: "Sure."
Gibby decides to go with Ms. Kilmer. She seemed to know what she was doing.
Digifanatic: "Okay... Julian and Azure, Gibby and Valentine... I call Dragoshi."
Trigger: "Who wants to come with me?"
Julian Sawyer: "I'll take Scott while we's at it."
Alexia: "I will."
Azure: "I just said I would accompany you."
Valentine Kilmer: "Stick with one of the three, Trigger."
Scott Gibson: "Sounds good."
Dragoshi: "Eh. Okay, then. " *Goes with Digi.*
Trigger: "Ok, I got Azure and Alexia."
Digifanatic: "But Trigger, there are only three doors."
Julian Sawyer: "Trigger, you ain't goin' by yo'self."
Azure: "With Julian and gibby I have no doubts in your groups success Ms. Valentine."
Trigger: "...I know..."
Julian Sawyer: "So you're goin' wit' Val, 'long with Azure. An' Gibby."
Trigger: "Yeah."
Valentine Kilmer: "Success will be determined after the power is online."
Digifanatic: "Julian, fair if I get Azure or Alexia and you the other?"
Trigger: "Unless you want me to stay at the computer?"
Julian Sawyer: "Trigger, you ain't to be left alone."
Azure: "I'm with Trigger, Digi. One moment, everyone."
Dragoshi: "...Are any of us meant to?"
Trigger: "Ok."
Digifanatic: "Right. Sorry--my fault."
Gibby holds his head. So confusing...
Digifanatic: "So I guess I'll take Alex?"
Azure: "Instead of just blasting this out where and who where with we should go about this in a more controlled manner."
Julian Sawyer: "...Hol' on." *Julian types things into his Dex...* "A'ight, I've got Scott goin' with me, Dragoshi goin' with Digi, an'...Val's got 4 people. That ain't right."
Valentine Kilmer: "I believe you have a source of light, Gibby."
Trigger: "I was gonna take Azure with me."
Azure: "We have three doors."
Gibby: "Huh? OH! You mean my sword."
Digifanatic: "And what about Metal? He said he was coming with us."
Azure: "Now one group of people go to one door."
Metal Man (GM): When you're done setting up groups, list who's in group 1 (West door) group 2 (South door) and group 3 (East door)
Trigger: "Through the 2nd door."
Gibby unsheaths his sword. It shines brightly within the darkness.
Alexia: "...You forgot that until now?"
Metal Man: "I will supervise the group with the highest chance of difficulty."
Valentine Kilmer: "Gibby and I will head east."
Gibby: "I just wasn't thinking about it... that's all..."
Digifanatic: "Okay, that's fine, Metal."
Trigger: "Me and Azure will head south."
Alexia: "Grrr..." *Eyes flash red for a moment before going back to their normal purple.*
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight... I'll take Azure out of Val's group, leavin' her with Gibby an' Trigger. I s'pose you'll be taking Alexia then, Digi."
Trigger: "You don't listen well do you?"
Valentine Kilmer: "As long a Gibby provides light and doesn't touch anything. I'll be fine."
Gibby nods.
Julian Sawyer: "An' you don't listen well either. You ain't headin' up a group, an' you ain't goin' alone. You're in Val's group."
Azure: "Now's not the time. Oh if more light is needed..." *Azure's spirit charms appear floating around him with a mildly luminescent glow.*
Trigger: "Ok."
Azure: "That leaves me the odd man out for a moment it seems to be added wherever."
Valentine Kilmer: "Trigger. Step over to my side."
Trigger walks over to Valentine.
Julian Sawyer: "Azure, you're wit' me."
Gibby: "There... that works out."
Trigger: "Ok, ready to go?"
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight, everyone clear on who's wit' who?"
Alexia: "Er, who am I with again?"
Gibby: "More or less..."
Julian Sawyer: "Digi."
Trigger: "Yeah."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Valentine Kilmer: "I wish the other two groups success. Gibby, you have point. Tigger, you have the back."
Trigger: "It's Trigger, and OK."
Gibby: "Uhh... ok."
Trigger moves to the back of the group.
Julian Sawyer: "My group'll take 1, Val's 2, and Digi'll take 3. Mets'll go wit' whoever."
Gibby starts leading the way into the East door.
Azure: "I get the feeling trouble will be the least bit of our worries if it's us Julian. I have no problems with whoever I go with. I wish us all good luck. I pray for our success." *Bows a little.*
Trigger follows from behind.
Julian Sawyer: "...South, Gibby!"
Gibby: "...Wait, what? I thought it was East."
Valentine Kilmer: "I said I would take east, Julian."
Julian Sawyer: *Facepalm* "Whatever! Jus' go!"
Gibby: "...riiight."
*He continues into the East way.*
Trigger follows Gibby.
Valentine Kilmer: "Continue forward, Gibby." *She hovers behind him.*
Metal Man (GM): Okay, so, everyone, say which way you're going. East, South, or West.
Okay.
Metal Man heads with Group 1. "I'll take the West route."
Metal Man (GM): I'll go group by group now, rather than overwhelm the room with 3 at once.
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight then, let's go!" *Heads West, with Scott, Azure, AND Metal.*
Scott Gibson: "Right."
*He follows Julian.*
Metal Man (GM): Group 1 (West) slides open the door and opens up another room, in which it is equally dim.
This room also has a south and a further West door.
It has yet another identical downed computer, and window. Must be employee's quarters... unused ones.
Metal Man: "Hm. This certainly is a quiet place."
Julian Sawyer: "...Christ. South?"
Metal Man: "Your choice."
Scott Gibson: "Let's not jinx ourselves now..."
Julian Sawyer: "I'm goin' south." *To the South.*
Metal Man (GM): You slide the door open... to utter darkness.
You can't see your hand in front of your face if you continue South.
Julian Sawyer: "...A'ight, nix that." *West!*
Metal Man (GM): West continues the whole theme of computers, rooms, and doors, only it also has a window where a further west door would be, and has a south-going door, which appears to continue along the rim of the station.
Julian Sawyer: "Nothin'..." *Moving on to South!*
Metal Man (GM): You continue south. The theme of the rooms suddenly changes.
Azure continues to follow Julian.
Metal Man (GM): In here you see a table covered with terminals, 3 of them, a long window, and... no power, still. However, there's a chunky power conduit going to the table the computers sit on.
It goes through a rather large grate, which appears loosely affixed to the floor.
However, there is also a door to the east and one to the south.
Julian Sawyer: "A'ight, looks like things are pickin' up..." *Julian checks out the grate, first...*
Metal Man (GM): It's loose and appears to lead into some under-floor passageway.
brb, gotta get dinner. I'll give Scott and Azure some time to get their connections straightened out.
Sorry about the flakiness, it'll smooth out once I get back.
I need caffeine. Badly.
Metal Man (GM): Mission.
Julian is in room 6, along with Azure (for the 4 minutes his connection works) and Metal.
He's just started looking at a grate, through which a large power conduit wire goes down.
Nearby are computers atop a table, a window to the East which shows outer space, a door to the south, and a door to the West. And you came through the door to the North.
It is eerily dark in here.
Metal Man: "What you find, Julian?"
Metal Man (GM): The grate is loose.
Julian Sawyer: "Some kinda underground passage with a power wire... Nothin' too useful." *Julian replaces the grate and heads for the south Room.*
Metal Man (GM): Ah! Ah!
But the passage is large enough to fit a single person.
Metal Man: "Eh. I wish we could find the generators."
Julian Sawyer: "Oh, an' it looks like someone could fit down... there... Damnit, why I always gotta figure things out while I ain't noticin'. Bet that leads to the generators!"
Metal Man: "We should check it out."
Julian Sawyer does so!
Metal Man (GM): Julian enters the grate; Metal follows, bending the shaft as he goes... *GROUP 2*
Gibby... Valentine... Trigger... all going... West, right
?
Erm... if you were going East, you'd be with Julian.
Hmmm. Stupid upside-down brain.
*Smacks his brain, and reverses some things.*
Hm. Room 6 was still correct, though--but anyway.
You guys head East, going into room 4. It is just like the room you were last in; doors East, West, and South, window North, offline computer in the middle.
Gibby: "Hmm... which room do we go in first?"
Trigger: "Hmmm..."
Metal Man (GM): The air is slightly stale, but, nothing much of comment. You stand there.
Gibby shrugs and starts making his way East. Might as well stick with the same direction.
Trigger starts to follow Gibby.
Metal Man (GM): You go East again. This is where things get interesting.
You see significant damage, including the window being cracked, apparently from Ivo's last fight with Gunicard.
This damage has revealed several circuit boards, as well as made a few small holes in the floor.
Glass is on the North and East wall here.
There's a door South.
Gibby: "Wow... this room got trashed -really- badly."
Trigger: "Wow..."
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm. Even I can't repair the mess."
Metal Man (GM): The computer here looks mildly burnt.
Gibby: "Might as well continue on..."
Trigger: "Ok."
Gibby takes notice of the south door and enters through it.
Trigger starts to follow Gibby.
Valentine Kilmer looks around the room a bit more before deciding the next course of action. Like even a sign stating where the power grind is.
Metal Man (GM): No signs of that type of sign. The room's fairly barren.
All the power wires appear to come from beneath the floor.
Valentine Kilmer: "...We need to find a way down."
Gibby stops.
Trigger: "Ok."
Gibby: "...Down? Why?"
Trigger stops.
Valentine Kilmer: "The wires are coming from under the floor."
Metal Man (GM): There are a few small holes in the floor, but it's heavily armored. It appears to have withstood significant damage without being compromised.
Trigger looks down at the wires.
Valentine Kilmer: "So it's either on this floor or the one below us."
Metal Man (GM): They're shown via exposed circuit boards and holes in the walls.
Trigger: "Should we keep going till we find some stairs going down?"
Valentine Kilmer: "The would be the best course of action at the moment. And the only one."
Trigger: "Ok."
Gibby: "Well there aren't any stairs around here... so lets go find some!"
Metal Man (GM): The door to the South awaits.
Gibby heads back through the south door.
Trigger follows Gibby out.
Valentine Kilmer: "Lets."
*He hovers behind the two.*
Metal Man (GM): In here is several computers, which have been heavily modified.
Various weird devices of an unknown technology are attached to them. Furthermore, what was a grate on the floor has been obstructed by the weird devices.
Trigger: "Whoa... nice computers."
Metal Man (GM): The window has been covered up by metallic plates.
Valentine Kilmer: "Gibby. Use you light near the computer so I may so them more clearly."
Trigger: "You want me to check them out?"
Gibby: "Sure."
Trigger walks over to one of the computers and starts to look up ???
Gibby walks over towards the closest computer and raises his sword towards it so that it can be seen as clear as day.
Valentine Kilmer: "Don't bother playing with them. It's useless until we get the power up."
Trigger: "Ok."
Valentine Kilmer decides to find any wires to see if they're leading to the same place.
Trigger: "I'm guessing the power supply is downstairs?"
Metal Man (GM): Wires lead under the floor, through various recently-cut holes.
Valentine Kilmer: "...This room is new."
Trigger: "...What?"
Gibby: "How new?"
Valentine Kilmer checks to see how long ago they were cut, if possible."
Metal Man (GM): Use a search check.
You think it was done sometime after the station was made and before it was damaged.
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm. It's not an issue. But..." *She looks around to see if the room is even damaged.*
Trigger: "Well, we should go now then."
Metal Man (GM): The room is undamaged, like the rooms before the damaged one. There's a door south, and one West.
Valentine Kilmer: "...Why is this room untouched?"
Gibby: "Perhaps it was just missed."
Trigger: "It could be important to someone?"
Valentine Kilmer: "We're visiting this place when the power is online. Gibby, Pick a door."
Gibby: "Uhh..." *He does 'ennie meenie miney mo' in his head at the two doors, and eventually chooses the very best one, and that is...* "West!" *He goes west.*
Valentine Kilmer hovers behind Gibby.
Trigger follows Gibby out.
Metal Man (GM): You exit room 10 and enter room 9.
Room 9 is a room with 1 door for each cardinal direction, and is merely a hallway. If the power was on, the several 'Security clearance' card swipe modules would also probably be online.
You're free to continue West, go north (back to room 4), go south (room 14), or East (Where you just were)
Gibby: "Oy... so many choices."
Valentine Kilmer: "I have an idea. Gibby. Hold your sword out."
Gibby: "Uhh... ok."
*He raises his sword up high to light up the room.*
Trigger: "What's the plan?"
Valentine Kilmer then wraps a string around Gibby and steps back out the way. He yanks the string and spins Gibby like a top. The idea is to wait for Gibby to stop and see which where the sword points.
Trigger ducks.
Metal Man (GM): He stops and points at the North door.
Valentine Kilmer then looks to see if there's a sign posted somewhere that tells what room leads where while Gibby spins.
Trigger stands back up.
Gibby: "Hey, what are you--WOAH!" *Around and around he goes, where he'll stop, nobody knows! For awhile he looks like a blue tornado, but then eventually slows down until he finally comes to a stop. He wobbles back and forth before falling on his butt with his sword pointed... North!*
"...I think my stomach touched my brain..."
Trigger: "..."
Metal Man (GM): That leads to room 4. One of the boring rooms you were just in.
Valentine Kilmer: "I see Gibby has no luck."
Trigger: "I can tell."
Metal Man (GM): So says the sign above the door. 'Room 4: Research Room 4'
Gibby: "...At least I have no gag reflex."
Trigger: "Thank god for that."
Metal Man (GM): Yes, basically what I said earlier.
South is room 14, East is room 10, West is room 8.
Gibby eventually gets up and shakes the dizziness out.
Valentine Kilmer: "Room 14 is it. Lead the way, Gibby."
Trigger: "Lets go."
Gibby: "Fine... just don't spin me anymore..."
*He stumbles his way into Room 14.*
Trigger follows Gibby.
Metal Man (GM): Going on south, you see this is a library of some sorts. A holographic one. Except there's no power, so the bookshelves are empty.
Gibby: "This looks like an important room."
Metal Man (GM): Doors go in all directions here, too. West (Room 13) South (Room 19) East (Room 15) and North (Back where you came from)
Trigger: "Hmmm... Which way should we go?"
Gibby: "Hmm..."
Valentine Kilmer: "..." *Opens the dex to see if there's a map she can use of the station.*
Gibby: "HEY! You think there's a directory of the entire place somewhere in here? I mean... it -is- a room for information."
Smash Dex: "Error. Unable to access map server. Unable to access main HQ database. Gunicard transmitting equipment offline."
Trigger: "Well, the power is off, I doubt it would help us now."
Gibby: "Bah... everything's too dependent on electricity and such... whatever happened to the old fashioned ways?"
Trigger: "I know."
Gibby: "Well no matter... might as well pick at random."
Metal Man (GM): Protip: Without electricity, this place wouldn't have originally existed.
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm. Let's continue north then."
Trigger: "Ok."
Gibby: "Fine by me."
*He proceeds to make his way South.*
Trigger follows Gibby.
Metal Man (GM): South you go, to room 19.
This here is a hallway... which has also been retrofitted with equipment.
There's also a massive voltage regulator with a big plate on it which says 'BACKUP GENERATOR'
A massive switch is on it; and is currently set to 'OFF'
Gibby: "...We have a winner!"
Metal Man (GM): It powers a computer surrounded by odd devices.
Trigger: "I think this is what we have been looking for."
Valentine Kilmer: "This will do."
Trigger: "Want me to turn it on?"
Gibby remembers his deal with Kilmer, and just stays where he is.
Valentine Kilmer: "Allow me. You two watch my back."
Trigger: "Ok."
*He guards the door.*
Gibby stands between Kilmer and Trigger.
Valentine Kilmer hovers up to the devices and looks at them.
Metal Man (GM): They're strange purple boxes with spikes jutting out of them.
They're attached by thick cables and levitate of their own power.
Valentine Kilmer tries to identify them.
Trigger: "Find something?"
Metal Man (GM): You identify it as... ... ....
Something beyond any technology you've seen before.
It appears to take Ivan's principles of reality and literally warps physics around it in order to generate and regulate power, seemingly causing power to appear from thin air.
Some of them have other functions which don't seem to make sense. For example, you touch one, and your hand goes through it.
It smells of some shady high-techness that has nothing to do with this station's owners or purpose.
Yes.
By thick wires.
Valentine Kilmer: "...This does not belong here."
Gibby: "So what do we do about the power? Do we turn it on or not?"
Valentine Kilmer: "No."
Gibby: "Figures... we actually -reach- the generator, and now we can't use it."
Metal Man (GM): You can also go South to room 24, West to room 18, and East to room 20.
You can also go South to room 24, West to room 18, and East to room 20. (Repost)
Gibby sighs.
"Shall we try the other rooms then? Maybe there's a way we can get rid of... whatever those things are."
Trigger: "...What things?"
Gibby: -_-; "The weird purple thingies."
Trigger: "Sorry, I kinda blacked out."
Metal Man (GM): *Shrug* Good time to switch groups.
Hm... only Dragoshi is here. Willing to go it alone, Dragoshi?
Dragoshi goes south, reaching room 8.
Here, a sign dead ahead (going south) reads 'TO ELEVATOR'
You can also go west to room 7, and east to room 9.
Dragoshi: "...Hmmm... The elevator's prolly' useless for all I know..." *Goes East.*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi reaches Room 9, which is a room with 1 door for each cardinal direction, and is merely a hallway. If the power was on, the several 'Security clearance' card swipe modules would also probably be online.
Dragoshi: "...Nothing of interest here." *Goes back to room 8 then heads to room 7*
Metal Man (GM): You head into room 7, which is a room full of computers on a desk and pitch black.
You can only see with the door open to room 8, and dimly, at that.
You can't tell if there's any other doors in there.
Dragoshi: "...Too dark to see." *Heads back to room 8. and checks the elevator.*
Metal Man (GM): You mean, you go South.
You reach the elevator, of which the doors are half-open, and you can see a dim light down one story. You can climb down a ladder inside the shaft, as the elevator itself is nowhere to be seen.
Dragoshi: "...Hmm..." *Climbs down the ladder to check out the dim light.*
Metal Man (GM): You climb down. The door is also open a crack down here, too... and right outside it you see a massive room, full of computers which surround one massive generator.
Dragoshi: "...Holy damn. I hit the friggin' jackpot."
Metal Man (GM): It's pretty simple.
A bunch of control panels, a pretty button with 'ACTIVATE' on it, some weird boxes and equipment recently strapped to it...
Dragoshi: *Already in the room?*
Metal Man (GM): Yes.
Dragoshi: *...Walks over to the weird boxes and equipment* "...Hmm..."
Metal Man (GM): Do anything with it? That's all that is on this floor.
Dragoshi tries to examine it to see what the fuh it is.
Metal Man (GM): It seems odd to you.
A bunch of shiny levers, buttons, and keyboards, with weird bits you don't understand.
However, you do see how to activate it; just one button press.
Dragoshi: "...Does this even belong here..."
Metal Man (GM): The power generator does seem original.
Dragoshi: "...Well... Best lead I have so far... Then again there's always the possibility..."
Metal Man (GM): You can, of course, go back to the elevator shaft.
Dragoshi heads back to the elevator shaft...
Metal Man (GM): And we switch back to Julian and Metal, who are currently moving through a (Cramped) ventilation shaft.
Julian soon reaches a vent, which is apparently over the generator room Dragoshi just left, complete with the activation button and stuff.
The thick cable descends from the vent down to the generator.
Julian Sawyer: "Aw yeah, here we go..." *Julian opens up the vent and climbs/floats/jumps down to the floor.*
Metal Man (GM): You reach the bottom, just in front of the machine. Metal follows, climbing on out and eventually dropping to the floor.
Metal Man: "Hmmm..."
Julian Sawyer: "...Well, 'dis don't take a genius to figure out. But what's all that junk hooked up to it?"
Metal Man: "Beats me."
Julian Sawyer: "You wanna press the button?"
Metal Man: "Do you think it's safe to press?"
Julian Sawyer: "What else we gonna do, Mets?"
Metal Man: "Well, we have to be cautious. We need to power this place up, but... there's weird boxes on this.
They could be good or bad, but I can't tell."
Julian Sawyer: "Good point..." *Julian checks out what those dealie-whackers that were recently added on are...*
Metal Man (GM): They look like edible boxes of jell-o.
Julian Sawyer: *Let's try that again... Much Better.*
Metal Man (GM): They look like edible boxes of jell-o. With spikes.
While you got a better check, you're convinced they're made of jell-o.
Just that they might be too important to eat.
Julian Sawyer: "...I can't make heads or tails a' this. All I know is that they'se got spikes, an' they definitely ain't edible..." *Pokes a non-spiked part.*
Metal Man (GM): Your hand literally goes through them.
Another one actually reacts like jell-o.
Julian Sawyer: "...A'ight, this some messed-up shit." *How are they connected?*
Metal Man (GM): Thick cables.
Julian Sawyer: *Solid?*
Metal Man (GM): Solid ones.
Julian Sawyer: "Mets, you got a knife or somethin'?"
Metal Man: "Nope. Don't you have Vendetta?"
*He pokes Julian.*
Julian Sawyer: "...Good point." *Julian takes out Vendetta and cuts some wires! That connect the weird things to the generator!*
Metal Man (GM): *Slash* They're disconnected.
Metal Man: "Now I'll try the button."
Julian Sawyer: "Go for it."
Metal Man presses it.
Metal Man (GM): The generator shoots a few sparks before finally re-activating.
The lights turn back on.
Nothing wrong happens... but a computer nearby shows some strange letters.
'MAIN ASTRAL GENERATOR OFFLINE... SWITCHING TO GENERATOR B'
It's at 1% and climbing.
Metal Man: "Hmmm... now what is this?"
Julian Sawyer: "... Well, 'least we got it back online."
Metal Man (GM): The display looks like it was hacked, too. Instead of the normal Ivan OS, the theme has been changed to white with black edges.
Julian Sawyer: "Mets, we know anyone wit' this color scheme?"
Metal Man: "Not that I know, but it seems our suspicions are right. Those boxes aren't standard equipment here... somebody wanted us to activate those."
Julian Sawyer: "Good thing I took 'em out, then. I had suspicions when that screen said Astral Generator... but why would anythin' like that have SPIKES on it?"
Metal Man: "Beats me."
Metal Man (GM): *PAUSE* Again.
Doing this in parts; sorry for the thin demeanor of this one, but I'll get to the action on the last piece.
By then my sleep habits should have reconciled with my vastly changed schedule.
CONTINUATION
Gibby n' Valentine face the big ol' generator.
All of a sudden, the place lights up... and so does the machine.
Gibby steps back and looks around.
"...What's happening?"
Metal Man (GM): It's got a computer next to it which says it's currently 2% started booting up... some sort of 'Astral Generator'
Of course, there doesn't SEEM to be any easy way to prevent it from finishing, but the generator has several unidentified cables, a computer keyboard and mouse, and a card swipe thing.
Valentine Kilmer: "...Someone found the power source. But why is it booting up the backup?"
Metal Man (GM): Various error messages state 'Main Astral generator offline' 'Modules in Generator A not responding' 'Unauthorized user interference'
It's 5% complete now.
Gibby takes a lookey-loo at the computer screen.
"Well this doesn't sound good at all..."
Valentine Kilmer: "Gibby. Try to find then interface manual. I'll try to convert it form here."
Gibby: "...The wha?"
Valentine Kilmer: "A thick book with big words on it."
Gibby: "Ah! I can do that!"
Metal Man (GM): Search check, Gibby.
Gibby starts searching the room for any sign of a thick looking book.
Valentine Kilmer hovers over to the computer and sees what options she has in front of her.
Metal Man (GM): Gibby finds nothing but a drink coaster.
Valentine sees the aforementioned interfaces.
The generator has several unidentified cables, a computer keyboard and mouse, and a card swipe thing.
Gibby: "...HEY! I found a coaster! Neat..."
Metal Man (GM): However, the current screen appears to have no user-accessible menus.
Valentine Kilmer: "Focus, Gibby. ...Find a Card Key now."
Gibby: "Aww... ok, a card key. How hard could that be?"
*He starts snooping around the room for it.*
Metal Man (GM): You find a card on the floor.
Gibby: "...FOUND!"
Valentine Kilmer then looks for a place she as hook up directly into the computer.
Gibby picks up the card.
Metal Man (GM): Of course! A USB port.
Gibby runs over to Kilmer with the card key. "I got the key thing, Ms. Kilmer. What do I do with it?"
Metal Man (GM): Even a computer such as this has one of those.
Valentine Kilmer takes the card from Gibby, then attempts to swipe it in the card slot.
Gibby frowns. .oO(I wanted to use it...)
Metal Man (GM): You swipe it... nothin'. It's at 10% now.
Valentine Kilmer: "Keep looking for the book, Gibby."
Metal Man (GM): This program must control the system, at least, as long as it's up front.
Which means you need some way to interfere with it.
Gibby: "Oh, right... the book."
Valentine Kilmer then pulls a cord out of her neck and connects to the computer, attempting to access it directly.
Gibby snoops around the room again. How hard could it be to find a large book?
Metal Man (GM): Computer use check.
And Gibby: Another search check.
With your insane luck, you find a 'Debugger's manual'. It's the size of two telephone books and weighs 20 pounds.
It seems useful, however... finding what you need will be a doozy.
Gibby: "Ah, a book thingy!"
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, Valentine hacks into it and causes the switching program to crash.
'BUFFER OVERLOAD--UNABLE TO CONTINUE'
Valentine Kilmer: "...I believe I stopped it. Now to see if I can get the main generator online."
Gibby grunts as he picks up the book and lifts it over his head. He stumbles left and right since the size and weight make it rather awkward for a Kirby to carry, and evetually makes it to where Kilmer is before falling face first on the first with the book in his fins. "...Found... books... can't... move."
Metal Man (GM): The lights up here are on. All systems are go.
Valentine Kilmer doesn't bother to look at Gibby. "There is no need to worry. I have stopped the completion and am going to start converting all main functions to the Main power grind."
She tries to access the main Astral Power.
Gibby: "...I'm just going to assume that you know what you're doing."
Metal Man (GM): Another Computer use check.
You mess with it; soon all systems are go. Everything seems normal.
Gibby gets himself back up and sits on the manual. Might as well relax while Kilmer gets all the computer work done.
Metal Man (GM): A weird square-shaped hologram appears, it has an eye in the center. It's Gunicard, the main AI of the station.
Gunicard E-Light: "...I must thank you for doing that. It appears some intruders compromised my systems while I was offline.
Allow me."
Gibby: "...HEY! I know that voice! Hello, Gunicard."
Metal Man (GM): The hologram shoots several lasers, blasting the purple boxes off of the generator.
Valentine Kilmer unplugs from then computer and stuffs the cord back into her neck. "Explain what happened if you will."
Gunicard E-Light: "Those were unauthorized devices of an unknown function. Someone wanted those to activate when you came to restart my systems."
"I would know who did it, except for the fact that the offending software destroyed itself once you crashed it."
Gibby: "Darn..."
Gunicard E-Light: "It is still not safe for me to send you home using standard procedures; the two remaining sectors outside this one are lacking oxygen."
"Follow this way to the power room. Then you can return home."
Arrows appear, leading through several rooms to (eventually) room 13, the center room, and elevator.
Gibby: "Great! But... what about the others? We should go find them first."
Gunicard E-Light: "They will also be lead there."
"It is the only place where I can safely summon a portal."
Gibby: "Well then... lets get going."
Valentine Kilmer: "This is the computer's interface, Gibby. It will guide the others to us."
Gibby gets off of the manual and follows the arrows down to room 13.
Valentine Kilmer: "However, I would like to know exactly how these things got on board in the first place."
Gunicard E-Light: "There were no breaches. My systems even repelled Ivo Robotnik's advances."
"It is physically and logically impossible."
"However, so are the devices they left behind."
Gibby: "And yet it happened..."
Valentine Kilmer: "They are not easy to obtain either."
Gunicard E-Light: "I would suspect we are dealing with beings never seen before."
Gibby: "Well they'll probably make themselves known to us sooner or later... more likely sooner."
Valentine Kilmer: "Also, I came across an untouched room in which had a few advanced looking computers. What is the purpose of that place?"
Gunicard E-Light: "Besides the unauthorized attachments, it is a research facility."
"My security has already been violated, so, I will tell you. They were made to control a massive super-weapon."
Gibby: "Super-weapon?"
Valentine Kilmer: "And what weapon would that be?"
Gunicard E-Light: "In order to protect its confidentiality, it was set that not even I could know. I only have the power to activate it."
Metal Man (GM): You reach the elevator.
Convenient GM-inserted time warp
Everyone's now in the power room, even people who weren't even in a group before.
Gibby: "Ah... there you guys are."
Metal Man (GM): Including The Wraith, for example.
And Wolfman.
Digifanatic: "This is a relief..."
The Wraith: *Poof.*
Metal Man (GM): Gunicard's hologram faces everyone.
Digifanatic: "All back here."
Gunicard E-Light: "While you have completed your mission, nay, accomplished it, I have a problem."
"...This."
Dragoshi: "...What is this problem?"
Gibby looks to the hologram.
Metal Man (GM): You hear the systems charge up, and a portal appear. It APPEARS to be to HQ. And, in fact, it is. For a few moments.
The Wraith: "...?..."
Dragoshi: "...Ker-Zuh?"
Metal Man (GM): Then several alarms go off. The portal begins to destabilize.
It then turns completely white.
The Wraith: "...D'ohh..."
Gunicard E-Light: "An unknown entity is attempting to interfere with my systems."
"Destroy them."
The portal turns into a whirlpool shape, then violently shatters as a... being made of pure energy rips out of it.
Gibby: "Aw man... I thought we were getting away easy this time."
Digifanatic: "Sadly, that sort of thing figures."
Dragoshi: "...Huh. Sure thing." .oO(...Wonder if they're connected to the Phantom Lords, or The Fury for that matter... Nah, I'm prolly' overthinking)
Valentine Kilmer: "Find me a place to access. I'll Attempt to black them out and find them!"
The Wraith: "...Let's rumble."
Metal Man (GM): It looks vaguely human, only lacking legs. It's white and sort of angelic, however there's something different. Instead of being, say, an angel, it appears to be some sort of separate type of being altogether.
It is also incorporeal.
Gibby: "..."
Dragoshi: "..."
Gunicard E-Light: "This is no computer hacker."
The Wraith: .oO(Heh... It looks like a white version of myself.)
Metal Man: "Woah. I've never seen one of those."
Dragoshi: "...Same."
Valentine Kilmer: "...I have no data on this creature."
Metal Man (GM): It has no halo and, where eyes should be, it has holes.
The Wraith: "This is interesting..."
Dragoshi: "...Very."
Gibby steps back a little.
"It's creepy..."
Metal Man (GM): It has two wings of light and it makes a high-pitched screech before drawing out not one, but two... swords of fire? Corporeal swords?
Digifanatic: "Strange."
Dragoshi: "...I've seen scarier."
Gunicard E-Light: "My systems are unable to damage it."
You see several lasers fly through it like it's nothing.
Dragoshi: "...Too bad I can't hit ethereal beings though."
Gibby: "Uh oh!"
*He unsheaths his sword.*
Digifanatic goes to Dex this odd being.
Gunicard E-Light: "I can only scan part of it. It is incorporeal and relatively weak for its kind. That means it'll be able to take on all of you at once."
Smash Dex: "No target detected."
Gunicard E-Light: "It, being incorporeal, is invisible to smash dexes."
Gibby: "...I thought you said it was -weak-."
Digifanatic: *Mutters* "My god..."
Gunicard E-Light: "...It is an astral being. The strong sort up there rank up with what you organic beings call 'Gods'."
Dragoshi: "...Now if only I could... Hmm..." *Tries to scan the thing, looking for the truth on it* (Using Eye of Truth.)
Valentine Kilmer: "Anyone without a meaning of ghost attacking should fall to the back. All other need to flank it and get ready to attack."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi is momentarily blinded by all the light he sees.
Gibby: "We're in trouble aren't we?"
Metal Man (GM): He is also overloaded with information.
Digifanatic does so, not really knowing what's up with this...
Dragoshi: "...Ugh" *Closes eyes* "Agh!"
Gunicard E-Light: *winces* "...It is from a higher plane. To see the truth on it is to be momentarily overloaded."
Dragoshi eventually snaps out of it.
Dragoshi: "Okay. You should've told me that EARLIER."
Gunicard E-Light: "On the plus side, it can only hit you with swords here."
"I must focus my work on protecting this room."
Gunicard moves aside and fields appear everywhere. The angelic (yet obviously nasty) being advances.
BOSS FIGHT
Questers vs. Lumispirit
Dragoshi: "...Last time I try and scan any bloody ethereal beings for the truth!"
Metal Man: "I shall have to fight fire with fire."
*He turns into The Void.*
Alexia: "Here we go, guys!"
The Void: "...This is certainly unusual. These are our equivalent of Goombas."
Dragoshi: "...Glad to see you could help, Void. ...Wait, Goombas? Schwa?"
The Void: "Goombas. The lowest being in our plane. It is only slightly less intelligent than a human.
They usually come in droves, however they are... normally peaceful, and only attack unwanted beings."
Dragoshi: "...So, they consider us unwanted?"
Azure: *Poof.*
The Void: "They aren't supposed to be able to escape their realm. It is they who are the invader in this case."
Alexia: "Apparently so, Sir Points-out-the-obvious."
Dragoshi: *To Alexia* "Shut it."
The Void: "Due to the fact it's in our realm, it is further weakened. Those swords, while powerful, are its only form of offense here, whereas in our realm it would be roughly three times as powerful."
The Wraith: "...Someone big up there sent this thing down to attack us 'cause they didn't want to soil their hands by fighting us directly."
The Void: "That's the gist of it. We must have found something, and now they want us dead. It only holds back as we speak because they are honorable spirits."
Dragoshi: "...Apparently so. Though, either way I can't hit the damn things, so I'm practically useless."
Gibby: "Lucky us..."
The Void: "Even when used in evil, it will only fight us when we are ready. However I doubt it will hold to the code of mercy against us."
Gibby: "Typical..."
Metal Man (GM): Okay, NOW. Let me introduce this battle type.
Alexia: *Cracks her knuckles* "No problem. We'll wreck this thing in no time flat."
Metal Man (GM): Seeing as your foe is one person, a boss, and relatively non-moving (except to dodge), attack is simplified and things are slowed down to be more dramatic.
You all take turns as usual and can use whatever attacks you wish, as you are automatically considered in-range... HOWEVER... the boss is suitably tougher than any boss fought in moving quick combat.
Okay.
Order so far: Order: Dragoshi, Gibby, The Wraith, Lumispirit, Digi, Alexia
I think that's everybody active so far.
The spirit stands there, watching carefully.
Dragoshi: "..." *Stands back, waiting. EoT.*
Gibby wasn't sure what this being exactly was, but he knew that the thing wanted to fight them. He points his sword at the Lumispirit, then charges towards him and starts off with a simple slash attack across the "chest" area.
Metal Man (GM): Hit. Does the sword have ghost touch?
You slash it, it shrieks loudly.
You may continue, as it makes no attempt to counter.
Gibby didn't want to touch the thing with his flesh... who knows what could happen. He back up a bit and raises his sword up high. "Swords Dance!" It shines brightly as it powers up. He then dashes back towards the Lumispirit and attacks with another slash.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Gibby leaps back to the group and ends his turn.
The Wraith: "Hmm..." *He starts off by vanishing into thin air, reappearing just in front of the Lumispirit with a fiery explosion, swiftly backing off immediately after doing so...*
Metal Man (GM): Miss.
It interrupts The Wraith and shoots a pillar of fire at him using but one sword.
50 fire damage.
The Wraith: *Reflect! Or not!*
Metal Man (GM): *Lack of reflect*
It spins around its swords and then slashes the floor with one, causing a wall of fire to rise from the floor and advance towards everyone at once.
Threatens all; if hit, 10 damage.
The Wraith: *The spirit -barely- manages to evade that.*
Gibby is hit with the burnage!
Metal Man (GM): Then it turns to Gibby and flies up to him, slashing at him with both his swords once each.
Digifanatic is smacked.
Metal Man (GM): 50 fire damage per hit.
Dragoshi: *His aura pops up and blocks the firewall*"Pathetic."
Gibby amazingly dodges both attacks. Huzzah!
Alexia gets hit, but shakes it off and gets back into her battle stance.
Gibby: "Whew... that was close."
Digifanatic stands there cause he knows he can't do squat...
*EoT.*
Alexia: "Hrm, doesn't look like I can even touch this thing..."
*She tries a different tactic by performing an Element Shift.*
Metal Man (GM): *Blablabla element shifting* Anything else?
Alexia: "Well, this is new."
Digifanatic: "Whoa..."
Dragoshi: "...Heh" *Can't really do anything to the bloody ghost, so EoT.*
Gibby rubs his "chin" as he ponders how to fight the thing. Eh... might as well try something different. He pulls out an Ivantek grenade, pulls the pin, and hurls it at the Lumispirit. (DC 19).
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Metal Man (GM): It explodes... well. It may have hurt the swords, which are corporeal, but they're ALREADY ON FIRE, so it doesn't affect them.
However!
You used it inside a space station.
*BOOM* The resulting shockwave deals 10 damage to everyone.
Gibby is shockwaved.
Gunicard E-Light: "...Please don't do that again, we're lucky the entire floor didn't depressurize."
Gibby coughs.
Alexia: "Uhhhnn..." *Gets up from being knocked to her feet.*
Gibby: "Err... My b."
Trigger gets back up.
Gibby: "...It's B, right?"
Trigger: "That kinda hurt..."
Alexia: "Got it, Gunicard."
Gibby: "Anywho..."
Metal Man (GM): Anything else, Gibby?
Gibby goes back to his sword slashing! He inhales some air and starts gliding towards our incorporeal pal, and once he's directly over him, attacks with a sword drop!
Metal Man (GM): Miss!
Gibby was -not- having a good turn, and thus retreats. He saves his last TP and ends his turn there.
The Wraith: "...That didn't go well. Let's try this again..." *He points one finger at the spirit, and issues forth a series of dark tendrils... * (Ensnare, normal)
Metal Man (GM): You almost hit.
It ducks beneath it.
The Wraith: He narrows his eyes, then blinks and shakes his head. .oO(...Focus...) He spins those deadly magical stones of d00m...
Metal Man (GM): Focus... hit... miss... miss.
The Wraith: *The effect was three grey magical spheres of moderate size issuing forth... And they looked a little chaotic, not really holding their shape exactly as they went.*
*The spirit bides his little remaining time, saving up... EoT.*
Metal Man (GM): Lumispirit
The spirit makes two more waves of fire at everybody.
10 damage per hit.
The Wraith: *And the dark spirit evades both! Dodge high, dodge low.*
Metal Man (GM): Then he charges up a massive fireball with both swords and chucks it at Dragoshi.
Gibby is dodging like a maniac today.
Alexia crosses her arms in front of herself and blocks them without damage.
Digifanatic is burninated twice.
Metal Man (GM): 75 fire damage if that hits.
Dragoshi: *The same aura blocks both blows. Dragoshi then chuckles as the third one ALSO fails to break through his aura.*
Azure appears walking in slowly with his hood on. Raising his hand he gathers energy in the palm of his left hand as the white spheres floating around his hand as he fired a small spiraling beam at the spirit.
Alexia: "Glad to see you're here."
Azure: "Indeed, sorry for the delay. I had the hardest of times trying to push what you call a button on a door."
Dragoshi: *Facepalm.*
Gibby: "...Button?"
Trigger: "..."
Digifanatic: "Azure, you can't be serious..."
Azure: *Looks at Alexia* "A gift." *Casts a 24 hp barrier on her EoT*
Alexia: "Unfortunately, I think he is."
Metal Man (GM): Hmmm... *GM leniency* damn dice. I'll say that hit, just so we aren't here forever.
Anything else, Azure?
Digifanatic looks at this thing and figures there's not much he can do offensively. In this case, he decides to head over to Gibby and defend for him, setting up one of his Digital barriers around himself.
"Just get back behind me after you're done."
*EoT.*
Gibby nods to Digi. "Thanks."
Trigger takes aim with his T. Buster and fires a boxing glove sized fist at the lumispirit thingy.
Alexia: "Trigger, I don't think it--"
Metal Man (GM): Hit. It flies through the spirit. No damage.
The Void: "...will hit him."
Trigger: "...Craptastic... Hmmm..."
Alexia facepalm.
The Wraith: "...Try to force him to hit himself with his own swords."
Trigger: "Ok."
The Wraith: "...But do NOT touch the swords with your own hands."
Alexia: "Or just hit him with a fire extinguisher."
Gibby: "You got a plan, John?"
Trigger: "I think I have a plan."
Alexia: "Hmm... I think I could do that, assuming he can't block my TK."
The Void: "It may have some sort of weakness, yes."
The Wraith: "Those of us who can't hit ethereal beings have no other option... Those swords are corporeal, but can still touch the creature. That's how it's holding them. So, it can be pushed by a corporeal... Quester, and damage the being."
Alexia: "Only problem is that if I throw the swords, I only get two shots. Still worth a try!"
The Wraith: "But if you throw the swords out of its grasp, it has no way of damaging us."
Alexia tries to grab one of the swords with TK.
Azure: "Its better than nothing."
Metal Man (GM): Roll the mindblast attack's to-hit roll.
You pick up an empty can of coca cola and crush it.
Trigger: "I was gonna try tackling through it to see if it would try to cut itself while trying to cut me."
Metal Man (GM): However that is not the Lumispirit's sword.
Alexia: "Geez, my focus stinks tonight."
Metal Man (GM): Anything else?
The Wraith: .oO(...Why is there a can of coca-cola up here...?)
The Void: "Metal's gonna be mad. He was drinking that."
Alexia: "Great, just what I need. Metal ragging on me afterwards."
Trigger: "..."
Dragoshi: "...Heh. Maybe... I could... Worth a shot" *He suddenly concentrates...*
Alexia: "...Wonder how I'm gonna get this metal off afterwards?"
Metal Man (GM): Hmmm. Perhaps your true foe is the dice.
Some day you should find them and kill them.
Roll the projectile things and name them.
Dragoshi: *Two bloody albatrosses and two jagged looking shards of amethysts fly and attempt to knock the swords into the spirit, with the amethysts concentrating on the left and the albatrosses concentrating on the right.*
Metal Man (GM): Aiming at the swords, you realize the can of coke was a far better target for all but one of the Amethysts.
Alexia: "...Birds?"
Dragoshi: "...Yes."
Gibby: "I don't question him, I just live with it..."
Trigger: "Coke... yummm."
Metal Man (GM): Knockback?
Ahhh. The knockback is what
I care about.
*KNOCK* It knocks the sword around. Not enough, though.
Dragoshi: "...Dammit" *EoT.*
Gibby is going to go after the spirit with an all out assault. He raises his sword back up. "Swords Dance!" It shines brightly like before, and powers up to its max. He then dashes towards the spirit and delivers two horizontal slashes soon followed by a third vertical slash thanks to leftover TP.
Dragoshi: *CRIIIIIIIIIIIITIIICAAAAAAAAAAL!*
Metal Man (GM): CRIT miss miss
Damage per hit?
Alexia: "Wonder if this thing can be Dexed..."
Dragoshi: "It can't."
The Wraith: "It's been tried."
Gibby retreats back behind Digi's digital barrier thing.
Dragoshi: "Nor can anyone try to see the truth on it, for those that do are overloaded with WAY too much info... I know that first hand..." @_!
Metal Man (GM): It is hit, and... screeches, before completely disintegrating.
Gibby: "...Success!"
Dragoshi: "...Good job."
The Void: "Lucky you. It's of low stamina. Next time we might not be as lucky."
Alexia: "Nice job, guys."
Azure: "It is done." *He does a small prayer for the proper passage of the spirit.*
Gibby quickly sheaths his sword.
The Wraith: *Our friendly spirit cringes slightly as he hears that screech... Though the spirit might have been of a different origin, he knows that keen all too well.*
Digifanatic: "Well, that was a relief..."
*He lets barrier go.*
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Digifanatic: "Now that I won't be needing that for a while..."
Gibby: "I just hope we don't run into any of the stronger versions."
Metal Man (GM): +1000 EXP to all
Gunicard E-Light: "Good work." *Opens a WORKING portal back*
Metal Man (GM): MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
+20,000 coins
Dragoshi: "...No problem."
Gibby: "And another job well done."
Trigger: "Yep."
Digifanatic: "Alright. Three straight missions without anybody getting into arguments!"
Editor's Note: Don't jinx it, Digi! The others will hear you!
Dragoshi: *Nods.*
Digifanatic: "This must be a record streak since Julian first appeared."
Trigger: "Yay."
Alexia: "I hope there's a soldering torch or something that I can use to get this off."
Digifanatic: "Don't tell him."
Gibby brushes off his fins and makes his way into the portal.
The Wraith: *Level up!*
Trigger follows Gibby into the portal.
The Void: "Eh. I still don't like the looks o' this... astral beings invading this world."
The Wraith: *SPD increased by 1! HP increased by 2!*
Dragoshi: "...Same."
The Void vanishes into the portal.
Alexia enters the portal.
Dragoshi: "..." *Walks into portal as well.*
The Wraith: "I hear dat... Somethin' ain't right." *He drifts on in as well, after giving a parting nod to Gunicard.*
Metal Man (GM): I'll be afk now, then begin the process of Htmlizing something important as well as eventually getting to the new people's attacks.
