Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 365: Do not Lick Spoon
Date: May 18th, 2007.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are in the main room of the Seeker. Metal is about to say something, but he gets some sort of update on his dex and sets it down, then takes out a different file.
Glyph: [Hop] "Mr. Metal... sir!"
Alexia: "Metal, I need to ask you something."
Glyph: [Hop] "I need to ask you something more!"
Alexia: "Fine. Go ahead."
Glyph: [Hop] "...sorry Ms. Alexia, but this is important! I need to talk to Dr. Robotnik!"
Metal Man: "You need to talk to Dr. Robotnik? Which one? George? Ivan? Gerald? Ivo?"
Glyph: [Hop] "Um. The last one."
Douglas opens up the Tome of Magikarp. "Mmmm..." *Reads from page 1.*
Metal Man (GM): Douglas learns that the power of Magikarp is based on laying on the floor, then bouncing up and down off the floor by flopping like a fish.
Dragoshi: *Starts boredly playing around with his 9-ball charm. And checks to see what changes the Dex now has due to its replacement processor.*
Metal Man: "I see, well. Uh. You can talk to him over there." *He points at a phone, and continues talking...*
Douglas: "Outstanding... and that crazed action can bring about massive destruction!?" *Flips page and starts studying, ya know... cause it takes a mission to study.*
Alexia: "Um, Metal..."
Metal Man (GM): Dex processor change: Crack codes, generate small holograms, load more programs at once...
Glyph: *Hop attempts to phone up Dr. Robotnik.*
Alexia: "What's the most secure area on this ship?"
Metal Man: "The one you're not allowed into."
Alexia: "...What's the second-best one, then?"
Metal Man: Mewtwo's office."
Alexia: "Is there a camera in there?"
Metal Man: "No. Only Mewtwo."
Alexia: "Does the door lock?"
Metal Man: "Yes."
Alexia: "Thank you. Be right back."
Ivo Robotnik: *Phone.* "Er... who is this?"
Alexia heads into Mewtwo's office.
Glyph: [Hop] "Hop, sir!"
Metal Man: "Okay... now, all one and a half of you paying attention..."
Ivo Robotnik: "And... what do you want to talk about?"
Glyph: [Hop] "I don't mean to bother you, but I have an important thing to ask you."
Glyph: [Hop] "Do you have, um, two million coins?"
Ivo Robotnik: "Yes."
Glyph: [Hop] "Can I... borrow two million coins?"
Metal Man (GM): Alexia enters Mewtwo's office.
Azure is there like he usually is, only speaking when needed.
Ivo Robotnik: "What for?"
Glyph: [Hop] "I'd like to buy a book, sir."
Alexia: "Uh, Mewtwo, could you maybe step out of your office for a bit?"
Metal Man: "Today's mission shall deal with entering the oldest part of the ruins beneath the planet."
Mewtwo: "What do you need my office for that would not include me in it... dragon?"
Ivo Robotnik: "What kind of book costs that much? Sheesh!"
Alexia: "Uh, yes, kind of."
Glyph: [Hop] "I don't know. It was written by a Mr. Sardis Mongul."
Alexia takes out the ring.
Glyph: [Hop] "Also it can time travel. I think."
Ivo Robotnik: "Sardis... Mongul???? Hrm... time travel?"
Metal Man (GM): Douglas would see that, somehow, flopping like a fish generates an imbalance in the universe strong enough to destroy entire skyscrapers.
Glyph: [Hop] "That's why I'd like to borrow it, the time travel part. You can keep the book if you like, I just really need it for one thing."
Mewtwo: "That's just a ring. Reading your mind... ...if it's going to transform you into anything, I don't want it to happen in my office."
Alexia: "See, I was hoping to test this by putting it on, but if something bad happened, I figured that with the door locked and the room secured, you could at least get some extra time... ...Yes, sir."
Ivo Robotnik: "Keep the book? Uh... great idea!"
Alexia walks out dejectedly.
Glyph: [Hop] "I'd like to borrow it first please though."
Azure: "I wouldn't mind having a look at that book. At least a couple chapters..."
Ivo Robotnik: "Sure... just... use this code." He gives Hop an encrypted code worth 2 million coins.
Dragoshi: "I wouldn't mind either..."
Douglas starts flopping like a Magikarp on the floor..
Glyph: [Hop] "Okay! Thanks! To the bookstore!"
Dragoshi: "'Sides it might help me predict who the catalyst is. ...Somehow."
Glyph: *Hop raises his fist triumphantly!*
Alexia: "Okay, what's the third-best place?"
Azure looks at Douglas. "Do you require water..."
Metal Man: "Hm... Darkdata, did you feed Douglas drain cleaner again?"
Glyph: [Hop] "Um... I need to get to the book store Mr. Metal."
Darkdata: "No... Did he get into my ingredient cabinet?"
Metal Man: "Oh! Uh. Easy." *Opens a warp.*
Glyph: *Hop hops through.*
Dragoshi: "I think he's just exercising."
Alexia: "...Y'know what, forget it. I'll try it when we get to our destination." *enters the warp.*
Metal Man (GM): Alexia appears in the bookstore.
Douglas: "Did Alexia go into the wrong warp?..."
Metal Man: "Yes."
Metal Man: "Along with Glyph Phoenix."
Glyph: [Hop] "Mr. Bookstore owner sir! I would like to buy the Tome of Sardis Mongul!"
Alexia: "..." *heads back.*
Bookstore Owner: "Two million coins."
Glyph: *Hop hands over the code.*
Bookstore Owner: "...O_O... uh... take it! Immediately!" He runs out of the store to use the code.
Glyph: *Hop picks up the Tome of Sardis Mongul.* "Let's see... where is the instruction manual? And how do I get to Charles... place?"
Metal Man (GM): Hop'll have to study it for a while to understand it. Meanwhile, back on the Seeker...
Metal Man: "...So in this ruin, there is apparently something highly important to the Archivists."
Dragoshi: "And, that is...?"
Metal Man: "Go to the deepest part of it, and it should... become clear? It's cryptic, but I bet it's connected to a big switch of some kind. The ruins themselves appear almost Earth-like. Watch out." *opens a warp.* "It's pretty dark there, too."
Alexia enters the ruins warp.
Darkdata follows Alexia.
Dragoshi: *Enters the warp as well.*
Douglas splashes, very inexpertly, into the warp.
Azure quietly enters the warp.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers warp down, down far beneath Ferran, and appear atop some greenish ruins of some kind.
Alexia: "...Okay, I'm out of patience." *puts the ring on.*
Metal Man (GM): The ground is mildly squishy, and it's dark here. There's a pathway down, as well as a barred set of doors to the left. Alexia's hair catches on fire.
Alexia: *screams and pulls it off.*
Metal Man (GM): The fire gives the Questers light to see by.
Douglas reads his book as he walks calmly down.
Metal Man (GM): Although it's quickly dark again once she takes the ring off.
Darkdata: "Did it burn Alexia?"
Metal Man (GM): Strangely, Alexia's hair being on fire didn't hurt her. And her hair doesn't appear to have been damaged.
Darkdata: "Alexia... would you mind... keeping that ring on...?"
Alexia: "Hang on a second." *stays silent for about... five seconds or so.* "...Okay, now that the last of my dignity has abandoned me, maybe I can actually help here." *puts the ring back on.*
Metal Man (GM): Alexia's hair stays on fire this time, and it lights up the area. That problem fixed, there remains the stairs or the barred door to go through.
Darkdata: "The Barred Door?"
Azure: "I assume it's barred for a -good- reason..."
Alexia heads down the stairs.
Metal Man (GM): *Click.* *Click.* *Click.* The Questers click and clack down into the old laboratory. The place is dark, lit only by Alexia's hair.
Darkdata: "Wow, good thing you got that Ring, 'lex."
Metal Man (GM): One can see the outlines of machines, electrodes, and rods where electricity once flowed. Also, there's two computers in the room, wires all around, and a big monitor.
Metal Man (GM): There's two doors ahead and one in the other direction. Unfortunately, all of them are rusted shut.
Douglas stops and waits for them... he's down the down-side.
Metal Man (GM): The wires seem to go towards the door behind everyone.
Darkdata seaches around for a light switch/button.
Metal Man (GM): Darkdata finds one quickly.
Darkdata turns it on.
Metal Man (GM): *CLICK* *SPLORT* *ZZZAP.* The room all quickly turns on, but that's... not exactly how the Questers would like it, for what happens next: Several lights explode, throwing sparks. The lights are bright enough that everyone's eyes hurt adjusting to them.
Metal Man (GM): The wires heat up, and a few of them get loose, and are now thrashing around in the way of the second door ahead.
Azure tips his hood down into darkness for a second.
Dragoshi: *Does the same as Azure.*
Darkdata flicks it off.
Alexia shuts her eyes from the light and takes the ring off.
Metal Man (GM): However, a hatch in the middle of the room (right under the wires) opens up. It's a way directly down.
Darkdata heads down.
Metal Man (GM): ... ZZZAP. ZAPZAPZAPZAP. The flailing wires whip and zap Darkdata.
Dragoshi: *Oh, and Dragoshi slides on some sunglasses.* >_>
Metal Man (GM): No way to go down there with wires zapping people... or is there?
Alexia tries keeping the wires pinned down and away from the door with her TK.
Darkdata joins in with a move object clearsong.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers pin them away from the door, but they now block the floor. Darkdata don't exactly know what Alexia's plan is, so he moves it in the opposite direction. Darkdata's magic is stronger, though, so they are ripped from the floor and now move onto the wall, blocking the door directly behind everyone instead.
Darkdata: "Well... that worked?"
Alexia: "Good one."
Darkdata heads to the two doors ahead.
Alexia puts the ring back on and heads down the hatch.
Darkdata: "Let's explore up here first lex? If you want to go down though, I will join you."
Metal Man (GM): There's a way to the left, and one to the right, but they're confusing. They have only partial letters on them. "Se y ab ' 'Da e Cem c om 1'
Alexia: *Too late, she's already down.*
Azure follows with usual caution and goes down with Alexia.
Metal Man (GM): Alexia goes down the stairs...
Douglas sighs and follows... to wherever we go! "Maybe we should just continue down."
Dragoshi: *Down the hatch! >_>*
Darkdata: "Well, down it is then. Splitting up is usually death, anyway."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go down the stairs. The level of technology is higher down here... It's a massive room with a cylinder in the middle. A glass one. Broken.
Douglas: "...Hold on."
Metal Man (GM): Various busted generators of some kind are around it, and it's surrounded by computers.
Douglas: "Does this say I should repeat 'Karp, karp!'!?"
Metal Man (GM): Besides this way down, there's two rooms to the left. The book seems to say that Douglas should say it. :p
Douglas: "Astounding! These must be the power words that unleash the destruction!"
Alexia: "...I think that book of yours was a ripoff, dude."
Alexia then tries to tell what was in that cylinder.
Dragoshi: "Yanno what'd be funny? If it wasn't."
Douglas: "Psh! Shows what you know! I'm learning a lot! And once I master this... I can beat Julian!"
Metal Man (GM): The doors to the left seem less rusted. The computers in here are all busted. Something big came out of that cylinder and busted everything in its way.
Douglas: "I bet you a pokemon came from that tube." *points to the doors.* "Let's go there."
Darkdata heads towards the doors.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers see them... these are the choices:
Azure looks toward the door and sighs... as they head toward the doors.
Metal Man (GM): on r l L 1 to the left, D n e u C e cl a 2 to the right.
Alexia: "Oh, great..."
Darkdata: *Restore Darksong on the door.*
Dragoshi: .oO(on r l L 1... Control something 1?)
Metal Man (GM): Painted on. Darkdata uses the restore magic on them. He restores... ...the doors. They're nice and shiny now, but the lettering is still beaten up.
Darkdata: *Anime Fall.*
Douglas points to the left door.
Dragoshi: "...Well, at least we cleaned up the doors. Now restore the lettering on them." >_>;;
Darkdata goes through that one.
Douglas goes to the left one.
Metal Man (GM): The left one slides open nicely, showing a massive control panel and a chair to it.
Alexia looks inside.
Douglas: "Oooh. Buttons?"
Alexia: "Probably no power."
Metal Man (GM): While it looks like somebody chewed off a big piece off of it, there are still some working controls...
Dragoshi: "...Huh. So my guess was right."
Metal Man (GM): 'Force field Warp Engine Experiment Room 1.' Power buttons. It also has a dead computer, and nothin' else.
Douglas leaps at it. *Experiment Room 1, PUSHED.*
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM.* The entire room shakes so hard it's like somebody picked up the entire place and kicked it.
Alexia quickly ducks out of the doorframe.
Metal Man (GM): In fact, the entire building does. Something odd powering up is heard...
Douglas: "Oooh. Again!" *Warp Engine.*
Metal Man (GM): The broken stuff turns on. The Questers see broken monitors scrolling through statistics, everywhere. *BOOOOM* The button snaps in two and some warps are heard turning on elsewhere.
Douglas: "Awesome. Let's go."
Darkdata heads to the other room.
Dragoshi: *Does the same.*
Alexia: *Ditto, and I don't mean the evil gum.*
Douglas prances into the Right room.
Metal Man (GM): The other room has a bunch of containers in it. Some have broken. A multicolored fog is in here.
Alexia: "What the heck?"
Darkdata casts bubble of air.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers see radioactive... a sign that shows a crystal piercing through somebody's hand and into another dimension... Another warning that shows liquid that turns people into otherworldly beings...
Darkdata: "I think we should leave this room. NOW." *runs.*
Metal Man (GM): There's another one which says 'Caution: Do not touch, Demigod-like mutations may result.'
Alexia: "...Please tell me that fog's non-toxic."
Douglas: "...That reminds me of the Dark World. That liquid. I dunno why. Who's been to the Dark World before?"
Dex: "212084018513 toxic agents identified in the fog."
Dex: "Had he not conjured that air, you would have probably mutated into an extradimensional toaster which was on fire in seconds."
Douglas shrugs. "Let's seal this place off?"
Darkdata comes back. "Man you guys are slow."
Dragoshi: *Disappears and reappears next to Darkdata in a blur.* "What was that about slow?" *Eyeroll.*
Douglas waits 'till everyone exits... he closes the door, and tries something new!
Dragoshi: *Going up...*
Douglas summons the One-Winged Angel keyblade into his hand, and shoots a blue laser from the tip, which is supposed to lock ...locks.
Metal Man (GM): It is locked.
Douglas continues with the others now.
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, the others go on up the stairs and now have the other two rooms to look at. The same two with badly worn letters.
Metal Man: "Se y ab ' 'Da e Cem c om 1'
Darkdata: "I say the door on the right."
Darkdata: "Da e Cem c om 1." *opens the door.*
Alexia: "...I have an idea."
Alexia: "Do the Dexes have something like crossword solvers?"
Douglas: "Ohhh... Dangerous Chemical Room 1."
Metal Man (GM): This room is undamaged. There's various jars of many different chemicals in them. There's also a notice on the wall.
Darkdata pre-emptly casts bubble of air.
Metal Man (GM): 'DO NOT remove chemicals until it is time for their use in an experiment.'
Douglas: "Oh... let's bring some!"
Metal Man (GM): 'They are volatile and may escape if disturbed.' The chemicals themselves are...
Douglas: "...Or find the experiment room first."
Metal Man (GM): 'Radium Bicarbonate' 'Sodium Cesiumate' 'Polychrome Ytterbium'
Darkdata: "Dex, lookup."
Metal Man (GM): 'Einsteinium-doped Potassium'
Dex: "These are... mutagens of various orders. Some, if not most of them, cannot form naturally in this dimension."
Douglas: *Other room time now!*
Dex: "They are very unstable, most of them have probably decayed by now. Even their byproducts, though, share the dangers of their original forms. Some appear to still spontaneously release energy."
Alexia opens the door to the other room.
Darkdata goes to the other room.
Metal Man (GM): Alexia breaks open the rusted door, and finds this room was torched. However, there's a staircase in the bottom, which the torching seems to lead down.
Alexia heads down the stairs.
Darkdata follows her.
Dragoshi: "..." *Movin' on down!*
Dragoshi: *The torched stairs, that is.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go down quite a bit, and then reach the bottom. It's extremely dark down here. Alexia's flaming hair lights the way. The door ahead is a massive metallic vault-door, and it has been fully sealed.
Azure: "..." *Can't help but find that strange...*
Metal Man (GM): A skeleton can be seen dead, holding the lever next to it to 'close'
Alexia: "...That can't be a good omen."
Douglas: "Bet the skeleton will rise from the dead if we change the lever! Boney Bill! Let's find out?"
Alexia: "Uh, if so... Then let's disassemble him."
Douglas: "Have fun." *Read read.* "If it comes to life, just burn it."
Alexia: "... Screw it." *pulls the lever.*
Dragoshi: *Waits for the STUFF to happen.*
Metal Man (GM): Alexia pulls it... nothing happens. The lever has no power.
Alexia: "...Should have seen that coming."
Azure: "I assume this contraption is also conveniently in need of a power source?"
Azure: "And our power source most likely someone else...?"
Alexia: "Probably." *starts looking around for a place to power up the door.*
Darkdata: "I think I will hide, In case anything comes out, I can sneak attack it then."
Dragoshi: "I... Shall do the same."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi and Alexia find the power cables stuck inside the lever. Darkdata finds pocket change on the ground.
Alexia: "Ah-ha..." *Guesses said cables have no power supply.*
Azure: "We could attempt to transfer energy to it..."
Douglas: *Was going to search, but just hit an interesting part in the tome... So nevermind.*
Alexia: "...Can I see that book?"
Douglas: "No! Not 'till I'm done."
Alexia looks over Douglas's shoulder at it, then.
Metal Man (GM): The cables continue to be dead--and without power, the door can't open.
Douglas turns his head to Alexia. "Shouldn't you be zapping those cables or something?"
Alexia: "I just wanted to see how much you got ripped off for that waste of a tree."
Douglas rolls his eyes. "Just you wait!"
Metal Man (GM): It's pretty quiet down here.
Alexia shakes her head and goes back to the cables.
Azure: "Hmmm..." *straps on his nexus gauntlets and grabs one of the cables and raises his left hand making a two finger hand sign.* "Rai..." *he then calls out electrical energy and begins to channel it into the wires. Electric Element. -Healing wave-*
Darkdata: "Hmm, you know what? Since he died closing it, the beast must of been out here. Therefore, there is something important behind that door."
Dragoshi: *Concealed.* "...Or maybe the beast killed him before the door was fully closed."
Darkdata: "He was shield by the wall. If he was attacked from behind, or to the side, he would of fallen over."
Metal Man (GM): The door shakes, and then rips open slowly. A massive room full of destroyed mainframes is seen.
Dragoshi: *Concealed.* "...You're being too logical."
Azure: "That seems to have done it."
Metal Man (GM): The main part of the lab is seen. ...And what lies in here is obviously what the Archivists were looking for. A single computer is still alive down here, endlessly broadcasting an SOS message.
Darkdata: "Told you so, drago."
Alexia heads inside and looks at the computer.
Computer: "Shft... .sttt... Attention... alll nearby units... nearby... near..."
Dragoshi: "Don't assume things so soon, kid."
Computer: "Bio-experiment five... ha... .sttt... escape..."
Computer: "Tech... techno... lo... g.y... will... destroy... all..."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers hear some sort of roar, and the message repeats.
Dragoshi: "..." *Enters the room, and re-conceals himself.*
Azure: "I think... we stop that here..." *releases his grip and stops pouring electrical energy.*
Metal Man (GM): The door stops opening; it's wide open enough. The computer continues repeating. It also has data on the experiments here... very in-depth data.
Douglas idly strolls through the vault door.
Metal Man (GM): They were trying to use chemicals to create a being powerful enough to reclaim Earth from the Solarians, supposedly. It scrolls by pages after pages of information. 'If we created a psycho-genetic super-being, the Solarians would become extinct. Their usage of magic is largely technological. Against a being able to use similar powers mentally, they cannot exist. We took the most worthless, useless members of our society and began experimenting, using a large variety of chemicals.'
Azure: "I assume this being grew too strong."
Metal Man (GM): 'Some were promising. Others died.'
Alexia: "Kind of vague... heck, that could be a description of Mewtwo."
Metal Man (GM): 'We even used a variant of Magitek to revive the dead and continue our work. But in the end, few were stable enough to keep alive. Three subjects survived the testing, and they all became incredibly powerful. Bio-Experiment 5 was the first one. An oddity, for we had made several mistakes in his design.'
Alexia: "C'mon, c'mon, give some names..."
Metal Man (GM): 'Usage of poisons rather than mutagens, for example, devastated his immune system.' They show a man who is 18 feet tall, his skin having mutated into armor-like plates. His eyes glow red and he breathes extremely cold methane. 'However, in our tests, he possessed the ability to bend and twist materials with his mind. Unfortunately, that would lead to the outbreak which claimed most of our men. Hundreds of Experiments later, Bio-Experiment 113 was finished.'
Metal Man (GM): It shows another being, this one a man made entirely out of some sort of chemical. 'Our attempt to revive this being, when he died from Exo-toxin 255, caused him to regenerate from what had killed him. We sent him immediately to kill the Solarians. Unfortunately, we never found out what happened to him. He possessed control over the mutagen chemicals and seemed to speak with a strange lisp. He was a match for #5, which is why it is a pity we lost him. Finally...'
Metal Man (GM): The data is a bit rough here, there's some screwy-looking letters. 'Bio-Experiment 206 was what finished the project. #5 escaped, and the remaining staff focused on him. 206 was different. He had no beastly modifications, and maintained his human form. He was, however, underpowered. His psychic capabilities, however, were to be unmatched among other test subjects. He detected something so big that, with his help, we shut down the facility and moved to begin our sequel project. It became clear Solarians would not be the actual threat that could destroy us all...'
Alexia: "...Why do these files never give an exact name?"
Dragoshi: "Because people are idiotic like that."
Azure: "Because obscurity holds secrets."
Metal Man (GM): 'The data of the mutagens and their effects have been recorded here, in case anyone wishes to reproduce our findings.'
Dex: "Download detected. Accept?"
Dragoshi: "...And the obscurity thing. That too."
Azure: "And as far as these people are concerned these things had no name. But rather numbers. Or rather these people..."
Alexia accepts the download onto her Dex. "That's kind of sad... I mean, they're not numbers, they're free men."
Metal Man (GM): Alexia completes the download. It appears safe to leave.
Alexia looks at the data, first.
Metal Man (GM): The data shows over 300 mutagens, their effects, and several cocktails which are proven to transmute people into sentient substances, give them armor-plating, psychic abilities, and enhanced magical powers. All of them, however, are labeled as 'Extremely dangerous' to attempt, with fatality rates being well over 90% for most of them.
Alexia looks up the mission objective in her Dex again.
Metal Man (GM): The warp out appears right in the corridor where the vault door is. Mission objective (Cleared): Find object below the ancient ruins.
Alexia: "...Huh. Guess we're done."
Metal Man (GM): Object has been revealed to be 'Research data.' Alexia goes to walk into the warp...
Darkdata walks to the warp.
Douglas: "...What about the experiment room?..."
Metal Man (GM): ...A scientist, an all-blue one, runs out and blocks her!
Dragoshi: *Draws his machinegun out!*
Scientist: "No! It's too dangerous!"
Alexia takes out her gun.
Scientist: "You must stay here! The chemicals may have escaped!"
Alexia: "Wouldn't that be even MORE hazardous?"
Dragoshi: "...Yea. Wouldn't it?"
Scientist: "If you went up the stairs, you'd likely mutate and die..."
Azure: "So it spread it seems."
Scientist: "Yes, somebody broke the quarantine on the room!"
Douglas: "Hey. Is there anything here that boosts wind power dwelling in a person?"
Scientist: "I'm going to have to keep you here to prevent spreading it..."
Dragoshi: "...Possibly, it could be a 'what', yanno."
Scientist: "Wind power? That is linked to Cyclohexanol."
Douglas: "Neat. Let's go get some?"
Alexia: *thinking.* "Okay, something is seriously not right here..."
Scientist: "What? No, you cannot go further. That will kill you!"
Darkdata: *anime fall.*
Alexia: "Is there any way to contain the chemicals?"
Douglas: "Kill me? But I -AM- Wind!" *Turns into Wind.*
Darkdata: "I will just cast Bubble of air ooh... 9000 times, and we can walk out."
Scientist: "...Even wind can be destroyed by these reagents, trust me." He stands in the way still. "Besides, you can't break through the quarantine field now."
Azure: "Why is that?"
Douglas: "What about these experiment subjects? Some of them seem to be doing fine these days."
Scientist: "What do you mean? That was a thousand years ago at least... they're all dead! The chemicals can take apart oxygen and burn it, convert it to methane, or worse."
Douglas: "Hmph." *Reverts back and continues to study.*
Alexia: "So how do we leave?"
Scientist: "You don't... not yet, at least. In 30 years you'll be safe to leave."
Dragoshi: "We don't have that kind of time."
Azure: "I'm sorry but we cannot wait that long."
Scientist: "Tough. You can't get out with me at the controls. It's for your own safety!"
Alexia: "Let. Us. Out."
Dragoshi: "Do you know how tired I grow of such asinine reasoning?" *Tries to determine the scientist's motive.*
Metal Man (GM): His motive is to protect anyone he sees from dangerous chemicals.
Scientist: "Sorry, no can do." The blue scientist stands in the way.
Azure: "I understand your premise and your purpose. But we cannot remain here. Is there no way aside from the passage of time that you might allow us through? Have you even confirmed that we posses the dangerous strain that you hold us for?"
Scientist: "You have been contaminated by the toxins..."
Alexia sighs and takes off the ring. It's making her finger sore.
Scientist: "You, being unusual, seem extremely resistant to them, but anyone you meet might be mutated!"
Azure: "You, in all your time here has done nothing to create a counter agent to the strain?"
Dragoshi: "...There's got to be an alternate solution to this..."
Scientist: "There's a reason we abandoned this lab. It became too toxic to work in, besides what the project told us. The toxins have never been countered, they only decay with time."
Dragoshi: "Isn't there a way for them to decay faster?"
Scientist: "Well, perhaps you could invent a time machine while we wait."
Douglas: "Why are -YOU- still here, anyways?"
Scientist: *Crosses arms.* "I'm not budging."
Alexia: "Out of WHAT? Dust?!"
Scientist: "I must ensure the contaminants do not escape. That's your problem, not mine."
Darkdata: "Wait a minute..."
Metal Man (GM): He continues standing in the way.
Douglas: "Can we explore the whole building still, or are we confined to this vault?"
Darkdata: "Why are you not mutating?!"
Scientist: "The rest of the building is too toxic. This vault, on the other hand, was protected. I have my methods."
Azure: "You do realize we came from outside right? If we were in fact contaminated then our encounter with you should prove lethal to us as well as yourself."
Dragoshi: "...Yea. Dark brings up a point there."
Scientist: "I have worked here for a long time. I am standing far enough away that I am safe."
Darkdata: "How could you stay here? How could you survive?"
Scientist: "I had to. I am contaminated some myself."
Darkdata: "All that is left is runes."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi looks around at the scientist. Odd, part of the scientist's foot appears to move through the floor itself when he shifts feet.
Dragoshi: "...What is up with your feet?"
Scientist: "The runes keep me alive..." He looks at his feet. "I don't see anything wrong with my feet."
Darkdata stares the scientist down.
Dragoshi: "...Don't play dumb with me. I saw them move through the floor when you shifted them."
Metal Man (GM): Darkdata stares at him. Odd, why is he glowing mildly?
Scientist: "That was... an optical illusion."
Alexia: "Or WAS IT?!"
Azure: "You seem hesitant."
Scientist: "It was."
Darkdata: "Oh Granma, what a glowy body you have."
Scientist: "That is merely from the toxins that contaminate me."
Azure: "Did you not a moment ago say it was an optical illusion."
Darkdata: "I thought you said that you were not contaminated..."
Alexia: "...Okay, who else here isn't buying this?"
Dragoshi: *Stares down the scientist for anything else that was fishy.* "I had my doubts."
Azure: "I'm starting to suspect you have been here for a very long time. This is the first time in how long you have interacted with 'real' people."
Darkdata: *Joins in, now that he is on edge.*
Douglas reads his tome. He's almost at the end.
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi notices that the scientist is... ...rather glowy... like... a certain kind of light projection.
Scientist: "Well, of course I've been here. How else would I protect visitors?"
Dragoshi: "...You glow... Like a kind of light projection..."
Darkdata: *Tosses a small pebble at the scientist.*
Scientist: "Oh, no, not at all. That is just more mutations from the chemicals."
Metal Man (GM): It flies right through him.
Scientist: "You have found an extra-dimensional pebble! Amazing!"
Darkdata: "Your... a projection."
Dragoshi: "...You're being stupid."
Alexia: "Yeah, uh, let's go, guys."
Douglas sighs and uses Eyes of Truth. "What, now?"
Darkdata: "Where is the curtain the wizard is hiding behind?"
Metal Man (GM): Douglas see... nothing, where the scientist stands.
Scientist: "I am all there is to see."
Douglas looks around the room. "Then where is he?"
Dragoshi: "...What do you mean, Douglas?"
Darkdata: *Eyes of truth on the area around him.*
Douglas: "He's projecting himself FROM somewhere... obviously."
Metal Man (GM): Everything else here is real, but the scientist.
Scientist: "You have no idea who I am, do you?" He shrugs. "Still, you're stuck here."
Darkdata takes a step forward. "Reveal Yourself." He takes another step. "Show the truth."
Metal Man (GM): He crosses his arms.
Dragoshi: "..." *Does the same as Darkdata.*
Scientist: "You're looking right at the truth. You can keep on walking... but I won't let you through until 30 years have passed. It is for your own safety."
Darkdata walks right past him.
Metal Man (GM): Darkdata walks smack-dab into a field.
Scientist: "The force field is real, you know."
Alexia: "...Somehow I saw that coming."
Darkdata: "So you're not? Nice slip."
Scientist: "I have nothing to lose... you cannot get past it without my help."
Douglas: "Hrmph! But I made sure to keep the Force Field turned off!"
Dragoshi: "I have a field-killing machinegun."
Scientist: "I have... a field-killing machinegun-killer!"
Dragoshi: "...How does that even work?"
Darkdata: *Checks for Magic.*
Dragoshi: "Are you making stuff up?"
Metal Man (GM): Darkdata detects no magic.
Scientist: "It works... oh yes, it works."
Metal Man (GM): The hologram becomes solid, and his hands glow with energy.
Dragoshi: "...Also, destroying it would be a bad idea."
Douglas: "I don't wanna mess with THIS guy... He sounds dangerous, Dragoshi!!!"
Scientist: "If you're going to threaten the populace above, I'll just have to kill you the old-fashioned way!"
Darkdata: "I am beginning to see."
Dragoshi: "Unless yanno, you like being-What happened when the machinegun was destroyed, Douglas? ...Threaten?"
Darkdata: "You are another experiment, aren't you?"
Dragoshi: "Of course he is."
Darkdata: "Somehow you can drain life with that barrier."
Douglas: "When Vendettas get destroyed? I'm sure some cataclysmic explosion occurs."
Dragoshi: "Yea. That."
Scientist: "...I didn't know I was that good at fooling people." He laughs. "I'm a hologram, you ridiculous bard!"
Dragoshi: "...Actually, I knew you were a hologram from the glow, you pretentious imbecile." *Eyeroll.*
Douglas is still watching with Eyes of Truth..
Scientist: "Not a very good one, though." He hangs his head. "Because instead of waiting for 30 years like good corporeal beings, I'm going to have to kill you and revive you in 30 years."
Darkdata: "I knew a lie would make you spill your guts."
Metal Man (GM): He suddenly reappears to Douglas's eyes of truth.
Darkdata: "... You're real, you are something, not who you say you are."
Dragoshi: "Sorry. As I said before, we don't have that kind of time."
Darkdata casts a pre-emptive haste.
Scientist: "You keep on being in denial." He shakes his head. "It won't save you from my laser beams!"
Douglas: "I hate laser beams, though!"
Metal Man (GM): He faint-warps around really fast. The hologram guy moves at the speed of light. Literally.
Scientist: "Fat chance you'll be hitting me any time soon!"
Metal Man (GM): He warps behind Dragoshi and fires five laser beams at his back.
Metal Man (GM): He then faint-warps rather far away.
Scientist: "Come and get me!"
Darkdata: "The computer!"
Douglas summons divine wind into Dragoshi... twice-over.
Darkdata: "Of course, why am I so stupid!" *Glare at the scientist.*
Dragoshi: "..." *Looks over to Dark.* "Orders?"
Darkdata: "You try and find other sources that the hologram may come from. I will have a look at the comp system on my turn."
Dragoshi: "...Understood." *Does so.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers look everywhere... none of the sources down here seem to have enough power to project the person.
Darkdata: "Anything above us?"
Dragoshi: .oO(None of them seem to have enough power to do this.)
Darkdata: "So, you are a hologram right?"
Metal Man (GM): Above would be more stuff.
Dragoshi: *Tries to determine the scientist's motive again.*
Darkdata: "If you can't find anything Dragoshi, just hit him."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi detects his motive is to say he is a hologram.
Dragoshi: "...I'll just bide my time..."
Scientist: "Keep it up. Only 29.99999998 years to go!"
Darkdata: *Invisibility - Dragoshi.*
Dragoshi: *Is ULTRA INVISIBLE.* >_>
Douglas: "Uhm... Hey! I'm willing to stay here for 30 years! No need to hurt me... I didn't hurt you!"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi goes supa-invisible.
Scientist: "Hah! I see through your dirty trick!"
Dragoshi: .oO(How predictably expected.)
Metal Man (GM): He teleports and begins punching, kicking, and biting Douglas insanely fast. He then reappears far away.
Dragoshi: .oO(Which experiment would come closer to this thing's description? ...113?)
Metal Man (GM): None of the experiment files talked about 'Holograms of scientists who are jerks.'
Douglas mutters. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR, JACKASS??" He heals himself with wind this time. "I DON'T MIND STAYING HERE. I'LL READ MY BOOKS."
Scientist: "Hah! You can't fool me with your psychic-super-para-reverse-psychology! Only I can do that!"
Douglas twitches. He sits down and continues reading.
Dragoshi: "..." *Tries to dex the guy. ...Which'll prolly' fail.*
Dex: "...DING! Scientist Hologram. Level: 125. HP: 0/625. Stat Points used: 50/50. STR: 0. END: 0. SPD: 40. MNT: 10. TP: 5. AC: 30. Increased Damage (Special Moves): +0. Super Bonuses: 12. Unique Abilities: 2. End of entry."
Darkdata: "I am just going to blow up the forcefield next turn."
Douglas: "Hrmph. Touch me again and I'm going to SPLASH you, jerk."
Darkdata: "I mean, he can't stop us if we leave the room. Break, warp, freedom."
Douglas: "Then again... I haven't finished this book..." *Keeps reading.*
Dragoshi: *quickly draws out his machinegun and zooms all the way towards the scientist, and...* *A mech pops up out of "Nowhere", takes the machinegun and opens fire on the jerk of a hologram!*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Dragoshi: *Dragoshi would then switch out his machinegun for his scythe, and attempts to Tri-flip kick the Hologram from a distance.* >_>
Metal Man (GM): Hit hit hit miss miss miss miss.
Dragoshi: *Puts away his scythe, then attempts to fry the hologram with Indignation.* *...of course.*
Darkdata: "I wonder..." *mirror clearsong.*
Metal Man (GM): It sits in front of the force field.
Darkdata: *Darkdata eats a psychoshroom.* "It's Eggman time! *Spin.* *Random backwards.* *Eats a saneshroom.* *Amplify On the mirror songspell."
Metal Man (GM): The mirror is stronger... but it has yet to touch the force field.
Scientist: "What do you think you are doing?"
Darkdata cracks fingers. "Now for the final touch." *Eats another psychoshroom.* *Shatter Clearsong!*
Metal Man (GM): It reflects hundreds of times, causing an extremely irritating noise. *BANG* *BOOM* Darkdata blows up the field, and the reflecting field... ... ...and all the dangerous chemical gasses on the other side... ...And all the other stuff above everyone...
Darkdata: "Well crap." *Looks at the scientist.* "I blame you."
Metal Man (GM): The hologram appears to be muttering a word that starts with D, but then stutters and vanishes. The entire ceiling is now falling at the Questers!
Darkdata: "Mkay, RUN NOW!" *leaps.*
Dragoshi: *ZOOMS into the warp. MAX SPEED.*
Darkdata also runs skips hops jumps and xzones to the warp.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers all leap out just as the ceiling crashes in. Mission Completed. +10,000 coins. Douglas leanrs Splash: Flop on the floor, saying 'Karp, karp.' Random effects when used. Meanwhile, Glyph has learned level 1 Sardis Mongul magic. But what will he do with it? We'll have to see... next mission!
