Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 483: E Li Three's Anti-Failure
Dates: December 13th and 17th, 2007.
Trivia: Despite being mentioned constantly, E Li Three has only shown up a handful of times in actual missions.
Metal Man (GM): Questers are at HQ, with Metal Man sitting at R&R, resting. A large device is sitting near the front door. It has several of the robot circuit boards in it. Oak is milling about.
Chancé: "Hello Maple! Or is it Elm?, Ivy? Oh, right, Oak!"
Professor Oak: "Hmmm?"
Valentine Kilmer: *She's busy in her room like usual, this time trying to see if she can make use of the darts and other things she collected from other quests.*
Aribar is once more in the holoroom, fighting CPU versions of Ganondorf. The elf has pretty much switched from spending whole days at a time in the library to... Eh, just half-days at a time in the holo room training.*
Deloth is in the library, having returned his first few books and looking for something along the lines of "Cure for Complete Idiots."
Metal Man (GM): There is a cure book in there. It is listed for people of Will 4 or higher. Slightly harder to learn.
Deloth grabs that and looks for the Librarian.
Aribar then realizes that even though he spent all of that time at the library, he never actually studied a book... He shuts down the holo room and heads to the library.*
Metal Man (GM): SIMBER appears instead.
Aribar looks for spellbooks specializing in using the power of light and holy things to damage evil foes. The elf figures that will help in the coming battle...*
SIMBER: "You have already taken a book, haven't you? This one... will cost some coins."
Deloth: "How much?"
Valentine Kilmer: *She has three darts, looking to hallow them out then make a liquid to pour into them using some of the corrupted dirt she picked up and of course regular water to sap the toxic contents out of the dirt.*
Chancé: "Hmm, I forgot to grab something, be right back. *Heads to the library*"
SIMBER: "That would be... about 50 coins."
Deloth: "...How long will I get to keep it?"
Chancé scans the shelf for books along the lines of "Humorous Creature Illusions, Annoy your friends, Annoy your enemies!" and "Restore! Boosting your cooking skills by restoring those old ingredients".
Metal Man (GM): They're rather poorly made and unlikely to work well.
SIMBER: "About a week."
Deloth: "I'll take it." *hands SIMBER the 50 coins, walks back to R&R, and starts studying.*
Chancé: "Hmm. *Looks for books on a one trick pony creature illusion* "Catgirls?""
SIMBER: "That book was reported missing by the Librarian. He said it was stolen years ago."
Valentine Kilmer: "...Must be the dirt. I should research this."
Aribar continues searching for some spell that would be effective against Ganondorf's dark and evil nature. Failing a holy or light spell, the elf looks for the most complicated electric spell he can find.*
Chancé just looks for any level 5 illusion spell then.
Valentine Kilmer: *Takes her gear and hovers away, remembering the Questers talking about a library now. Though she thinks it might be a waste of time, she decides to look anyways. Now entering into the room and seeing the Questers.* "...Busy day, SIMBER?"
Metal Man (GM): Chancé finds that he'd need to study some simpler books before checking out a book that difficult.
SIMBER: "It appears to be one."
Chancé: "There must be a way... I only need it for an enc... hmm... ah! A confusion spell? Also, hello Val."
Valentine Kilmer: "Very well. Just point me to the engineering section."
SIMBER: "Confusion? We have that." He hands a book to Chancé. "That should cost only about 40 coins, and requires some will."
Chancé: Hmmk. And if I want that fake sensory data book after I return this one, how much will it cost?
Chancé hands over the 40 coins.
SIMBER: "The same, 40 coins."
Metal Man (GM): He gives the book to Chancé. SIMBER then points at engineering books. They're rather simple.
Chancé: "Thank you SIMBER."
Metal Man (GM): 'Build Mechanical Machines' 'Build Magical Devices' The next tiers up are, respectively, Build Electrical Machines, Build Electronics, Build Futuristic electronics, etc... with the Machine stuff.
Chancé: "Val, why not expand yourself a bit with something a bit more fun?"
Valentine Kilmer: "Because someone needs to keep the Questers out of trouble." *She that makes her way over to the book section, searching through the books for something she might one. Humming quietly.*
Metal Man (GM): There's also repair books, and of course, 'Hacking world-destroying death rays for dummies.'
Chancé: "But who will get you out of trouble? *Nose in book he heads back to where oak is bumping in walls along the way.*"
Metal Man (GM): Magitek is nowhere to be found. There's a blank slot listed 'Obsolete' where that one is.
Valentine Kilmer: "Myself." *She then thinks of a book she wants, mostly to help her built a device that will help raise the stats of other party members.*
Dragoshi: *Has once again finished his usual swordplay practice, and puts the Dark Sword away. He would then head over to R&R to unwind and maybe watch some hilariously bad movies. >_>*
Metal Man (GM): That would mostly be under the 'Machines' label. Val would have to start with purely mechanical ones, unfortunately.
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm..." *She nods to herself and moves over to the section, picking out the book right for her.*
Metal Man (GM): That would be the book on 'Build Mechanical Machines'. It explains that they can heal others and/or up their stats... and shoot people... and other things... if Val got lucky enough when building them.
Valentine Kilmer: "If luck was greatly needed, the Questers would be doomed." *She takes the book with her.*
Metal Man (GM): Val gets her free book.
Valentine Kilmer: "Metal Man." *She enters into the R&R room.* "Anything to report?"
Aribar continues looking for light/holy offensive spells. Failing that, standard lightning spells.*
Chancé is standing by the wall still reading.
Metal Man: "Well, the device is ready, and Ganondorf's appearance is inevitable."
Deloth: *Still reading in R&R* "Oh?"
Dragoshi: *Reading the book on assault rifles...And he hears that* "Hmm?"
Valentine Kilmer: "I highly suggest we get everyone in place then."
Chancé: "Device?"
Metal Man: "Indeed." *Taps the device* "This device is an old weapon built out of the wreckage of that ship you crashed in here. According to Dr. Carrol, once activated, it can reverse the reality-changing effects of his Megawarp mistake."
Chancé: Hmm? Interesting.
Valentine Kilmer: "Crashed again? Seems like I was better off missing that."
Aribar, if failing to find a light/holy spell or a lightning spell... Then tries a standard damaging spell?*
Valentine Kilmer: "So who will be the bait?"
Metal Man: "Well, that's a good question... you see, once activated, there is a very high chance of Ganondorf appearing."
Deloth raises a hand while reading. Apparently he's not listening too well.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar would find that yes, there is a holy spell. Level 1, even.
Aribar takes the book to SIMBER to check out then, and says it's his first book.*
Feint is hanging out in R&R, studying.
Digifanatic is actually studying the upcoming tournament for the Brawlers right now...who's teaming up with who, who will be the favorites, etc., considering such progress among the Brawlers has been made.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar also gets that book for free. The tournament isn't quite ready yet. After a while of silence and peace, Metal Man finally buzzes the dexes with the message "Please report to R&R."
Digifanatic: *does so.*
Aribar thanks SIMBER and starts wandering the Stadium, his face buried in the book... Then hears Metal's announcement and heads to the R&R.
Valentine Kilmer: "Well, We need someone very annoying to distract Ganondorf while the others flank and attack him."
Chancé: "Well, that should be easy."
Digifanatic: .oO(Jigglypuff with 100 Starmen.)
Chancé: "I can do that."
Deloth: *still reading* "Look, whatever you wanted there, I got it covered, okay? Sheesh."
Chancé: "Deloth, will you give me your brain? I need it for a second."
Dragoshi: .oO(...Heh) *Continues his reading...*
Deloth finally looks up. "Sorry, did you say something?"
Metal Man: "Basically, we need a plan to use this device. When we use it, Ganondorf will most definitely attack."
Valentine Kilmer: "I suppose that one without a mind would work. I'll snipe him when given a chance. I'll see if I can borrow a few parts and create a one time machine to shock Ganondorf in the shins."
Chancé: "So I act as bait, run around with a fake: "This will destroy this thing forever remote" while you attack him?"
Metal Man: "Perhaps, although the machine will probably decrease Ganondorf's power in the first place. We just need to make sure he doesn't damage the device."
Chancé: "Make a fake one? or many fake ones?"
Dragoshi: "I doubt we have the time to do so."
Chancé: "Hmm..."
Valentine Kilmer: "Can this device be damaged through any magnetic devices, Metal Man?"
Metal Man: "It is a very sensitive device, magnetic waves would damage it."
Chancé: "... Can it be damaged through a paper covering?"
Deloth: "Maybe you should hide it in a closet or something, then?"
Aribar looks up, nose buried in his book still.* "Ah, I sort of missed our previous meetings and such... I take it the machine will summon, and hopefully weaken, Ganondorf... But how do we prevent ourselves from dying to his godly might?"
Chancé: "Make a bunch of paper fakes, cover the device with one, throw something in the other ones to inconvenience someone?"
Metal Man: "A paper covering? That isn't exactly a protective thing against magnets. Ganondorf won't know exactly what to do when he sees this, but he will be headed towards it."
Deloth: "So stick it in the basement or something." *goes back to reading.*
Valentine Kilmer: "Alright. So we have that on our side. Guess we'll have to get him in one, quick attack."
Feint: "How close must it be to work on him?"
Metal Man: "The problem is Ganondorf also wants to destroy the Stadium. Putting it in the basement would draw him, predictably, towards HQ. It doesn't need to be anywhere near him."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, so put it in the middle of nowhere, right?"
Feint: "Teleport it somewhere random?"
Metal Man: "It works indirectly, by undoing the effects of the mistake Dr. Carroll made... and ostensibly the effects of anything else that may have incorrectly altered reality. Yes... but we'd need some people to guard it."
Feint: "What about the Smashers? They busy?"
Digifanatic: "Oh... That's a possibility. Anyone else we can get to fight alongside us is good."
Metal Man: "Ganondorf is as skilled as the Smashers, and furthermore they are busy protecting their own places as well. Ganondorf is sufficiently advanced that we must stop him personally. If that's fine with you guys."
Valentine Kilmer: "I suppose Link can't get in on this?"
Digifanatic: *sigh* "Well, we've had to deal with this scenario before..."
Chancé: "Well, we will be the guards I guess."
Deloth: "How about burying it out in the middle of nowhere?"
Metal Man: "You have to be able to reach the switches... I believe you guys should probably guard it. A weakened Ganondorf could probably be dealt with."
Digifanatic: "And at this point, the phrase 'a weakened Ganondorf' doesn't sound too bad."
Deloth: "Well, then, let's just put it in the middle of a field, form a ring around it, and have one guy turn it on."
Valentine Kilmer: "Give me a temporary shield, Metal Man, and I can guard it myself."
Metal Man: "Simple enough, then. The warp room is activated... Hyrule Field I believe is the best choice. Link is going to be nearby, handling the... normal monsters."
Deloth gets up and heads for the warp room, closing the book and dropping it off in his room on the way.
Dragoshi: *Dragoshi would get up as well, putting his book away, and heading over to the warp room as well.*
Digifanatic: "Alright." *heads to the warp.*
Valentine Kilmer: "I trust you'll pay me well for this, Metal Man." *She then hovers her way into the warp room.*
Chancé puts his book away also and heads to the warp room.
Feint: *packs up and heads out.*
Metal Man: "Indeed."
Chancé: "Love of money is the root of evil Val."
Valentine Kilmer: "So is the mindless kin."
Deloth: "Mind explaining how you've managed to hold a job this long without offending everyone you cross, Val?"
Chancé: "Hmm, you make a good po-- *Tackle Hugs Val*"
Feint: "Weirdos."
Chancé: "In a weird way, you can become friends with your problems. Even if the problem will not admit it."
Dragoshi: *Just taps his foot, waiting for the others to stop effing around.*
Valentine Kilmer: *The platform seems to give her enough maneuvering to avoid Lucent for the time back.* "I'm merely here to find someone, not make friends. Now let's stop wasting time."
Chancé: "Friend! *Chases after Valentine*"
Deloth: "You could at least be tolerable while doing so." *warps.*
Feint: *Warps* "How odd."
Dragoshi: "...I have a feeling that I'm going to be drinking more than usual after the day's over." *Sigh* "Regardless, I shouldn't be wasting anymore time..." *Enters the warp.*
Metal Man (GM): WARP. You all appear in a normal green field. The machine has only one lever--an on button--and it's perfectly peaceful.
Chancé: "Hmm, it's nice here. I should of visited this world ages ago."
Valentine Kilmer: "Defensive circle would be the best option right now."
Deloth: "Alright, people, let's get into position before we upset this particular apple cart."
Digifanatic: "Mmhmm."
Dragoshi: *Nods.*
Chancé: "Anyway, I am going to check to see if link is in the area." *Takes a position around the circle then yells* "Hey Link! Hey Listen!"
Valentine Kilmer: "Once someone sees the enemy, block his path. I will stay with this machine. And hope Metal Man deliveries the shield in time."
Deloth heads over to the machine and positions himself in front of the lever, back to the machine.
Dragoshi: *Just stands back, and instead of readying the Dark Sword, he puts his Assault rifle at the ready, looking around carefully, back to the machine and all that jazz.*
Chancé: "Val, remember, we believe that you can do a good job~."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers set up their positions, without any real problems. Nothing out of the ordinary; it's a normal field with normal wildlife.
Deloth: "Everybody ready?"
Metal Man (GM): The only thing of interest is an old sign on the ground. That was the former 'Kuja Valley' sign.
Feint: "Always ready."
Digifanatic: "Oh yeah."
Dragoshi: "Mhm."
Valentine Kilmer: "This is your job, not mine. I'm merely an adviser. Now. When everyone is ready, pull the lever."
Chancé checks to make sure he has his potions... and the labels came off again... "You are still helpful Val, and we believe you can advise well."
Deloth: "Alright, then... let's make it HAPPEN, Cap'n!" *reaches back and pulls the lever.*
Dragoshi: .oO(Eurgh...He did not just say that.)
Metal Man (GM): The lever is pulled. The machine hums, turns on, and begins doing... something. Oddly... nothing weird is happening.
Digifanatic: "Should I contact Metal?"
Valentine Kilmer: "If needed." *She just checks her rifle, making sure it's loaded and ready to fire at a given notice.*
Digifanatic: *takes out his Dex and contacts HQ seen as how nothing's going on...*
Metal Man (GM): (Dex) "Yes, what is it?"
Dragoshi: *Checks to see if his assault rifle is loaded... And it is. After that, he would then careful look around, weapon at the ready, prepared to blast someone in the face like a duck hunter.*
Digifanatic: (Dex) "Uh, Metal, is anything strange happening over at HQ? We pulled the lever and honestly, nothing's happening. We just want to make sure everything's okay over there."
Metal Man: (Dex) "No, nothing is happening. Perhaps sometimes strange and insane issues do not always happen when you turn on a device, eh?"
Feint: "Maybe this strangeness will be silent?"
Digifanatic: "Huh...this is a bit odd."
Deloth: "Now to wait for the other shoe to drop..."
Aribar looks up from his shiny new book.* "... I've got to pay more attention to what's going on."
Valentine Kilmer: *She just waits in silence.*
Digifanatic: "Well, alright, Metal. Ring us up if anything odd happens over there, alright?"
Feint: *Starts flipping through his Light book.*
Metal Man: (Dex) "I will."
Digifanatic: "Thanks." *hangs up.*
Metal Man (GM): The dex transmission ends. You see nothing odd still. It's quite strange.
Deloth: "Nothing odd... that's very odd in and of itself."
Metal Man (GM): The only thing of note is that lone sign, which is still sitting there.
Chancé: "Fire, Earth, Hot, Tom, Meter, Repeat, Terry, Yellow..."
Deloth: "...And lemme recover from just making a massive logical paradox in 2.2 seconds."
Digifanatic walks up to the sign in case something is odd with that.
Metal Man (GM): One would notice the Kuja-era writing on it... which, most definitely, should not have stayed here, as that was a 'The Void's world' thing... well... Kuja's portion of it.
Digifanatic: "Are we in the wrong timeframe or dimension or something?"
Dragoshi: *Looks at the sign* .oO(Why is that even there...) *Would then continue looking around from his position, even to check above and below, just in case.*
Chancé: "Hmm, w... Water, Revenge, Eat, Tomato, Orange, Easter, Rebirth... Hah, I still have that old habit, sorry everyone. ^^;"
Digifanatic: *scans the sign.*
Aribar finishes up the part he was on and closes the book before stowing it away in his pack. The half-elf then looks about, wondering what exactly went wrong.*
Dex: "An old 'Kuja Valley' sign. It is from the ancient past."
Metal Man (GM): The sign is sitting atop, strangely enough, a manhole cover of sorts.
Digifanatic: "Weird..."
Digifanatic moves the sign out of the way if he can.
Metal Man (GM): The sign was sitting atop the manhole, which has no locking mechanism.
Digifanatic: "Hang on..." *kneels down to the side of the manhole and tries to lift the cover off.
Chancé: "Hmm, Unless those tunnels go under the device, it should post no trouble.."
Alex Fender: *SLAM.* *falls out of a portal in the sky* "Owwww..."
Deloth: "WAAAUGH!"
Feint: "There he is."
Deloth jumps and spins to face Alex.
Deloth: "...Oh."
Metal Man (GM): Digi lifts the cover off, finding a ladder which only goes a few feet down.
Alex Fender: "Here I am!...what're we doing that's stupid today?"
Deloth leans against the machine. "Don't EVER scare me like that again..."
Aribar blinks and turns towards Alex.* "Sometimes I wonder if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I can't say, 'That's something that doesn't happen every day.'"
Digifanatic: "Anyone want to follow me down here?"
Feint: "Destroying the world's evil with a giant microwave."
Chancé: "Alex can go."
Alex Fender: "Yeah! I can go! ...where is it I'm going again?"
Deloth: "How about if I go?"
Chancé: "Follow Digi dear."
Aribar looks to Digi.* "Okay, so if I am correct... We are in some sort of other dimension or something like that, and you're going down a manhole that's in the middle of a field with a sign related to Kuja above it?"
Digifanatic: "Nah, it's alright. Alex, you obliged first. Not sure about the dimension part."
Feint: "I'll stay here with the sane people." *waves and goes back to his books.*
Digifanatic: "I only hypothesized that, and yeah, that's not certain."
Alex Fender: "Into zee hole?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah."
Aribar: "Ah. This is what I get for studying ways to break the laws of the universe while on a mission."
Digifanatic motions Alex over and starts to climb down.
Alex Fender: *leaps into the hole without another word.
Metal Man (GM): Alex sees a small chamber, of Space Pirate Construction. Right underneath where the device is, there is another Space Pirate Device... ...effectively canceling it out. Interestingly, though, there is no defense on the device. You could destroy the counter device with a few punches.
Digifanatic: "Space Pirate stuff..."
Alex Fender: "...DAH!! IT'S THE CHEETO GOD'S PEOPLE'S STUFF!!"
Digifanatic: "Ranged stuff, Alex. We need to get out quick." *thinks about it for a minute, and pulls out his Digivice* "Yeah, I think this will qualify." *aims it at the SPDevice and launches out a Hyper Beam Matrix.*
Alex Fender: "...oh! Are we blowing stuff up?"
Digifanatic: "Hopefully..."
Metal Man (GM): Digi blows it up, thus falling into Ganondorf's trap. For it makes an incredible explosion which levels everything around it.
Valentine Kilmer: *Meanwhile, Val has yet to move from the other device.*
Metal Man (GM): Which includes the machine. And the Questers near it.
Valentine Kilmer: "...I wonder if they need me? Oh well, they should have asked."
Metal Man (GM): Alex and Feint are hit for 35 damage.
Alex Fender: "GRAH!!!"
Digifanatic: *apparently he hopped out of the hole quick enough...*
Aribar quickly conjures up a magical barrier to ward off the explosion!
Metal Man (GM): But the machine you were guarding is now in pieces. As you destroyed the anti-machine, which was a mere 1-2 feet underneath it, which in turn turned out to be filled with explosives...
Feint: *gets his ass off the ground and groans* "WHY do they touch things..".
Metal Man (GM): Which in turn explosively destroyed the machine you had going there. Thus proving Digifanatic to be easily fooled by Ganondorf. Ganondorf does not appear; nobody does. Because Ganondorf didn't even need to do anything.
Digifanatic: *looks around* "We have been duped."
Feint: "How'd anyone know to set a trap here?"
Metal Man (GM): He defeated your action with, apparently, one simple tip from the Dark Prognosticus. One has to wonder if it included Digi blowing up everything.
Dex: "The Dark Prognosticus tells the future."
Dragoshi: "Simple. We forgot to factor in-...That."
Digifanatic: "So this would have happened no matter where we went?"
Dex: "However, it was Digi's choice to blow up the device before it could be investigated. It is likely, had the device you used been moved, before you did that, no destruction would occur."
Dragoshi: "So, really. This would keyed up to a fault of our own, therefore...We screwed ourselves over."
Dex: "The Dark Prognosticus cannot precisely predict the future."
Aribar: "... This is highly annoying."
Digifanatic: *stammers to himself in frustration.*
Feint: ""Well...wouldn't he just come to us at some point then, if the book told him too?"
Valentine Kilmer: "...Seems they're touching things they shouldn't be underground. A pity."
Dex: "The book may have known you would be waiting for him, therefore a peaceful solution in which you defeat yourselves would be highly preferable to his appearance, in which case you would immediately know to protect to device. The only thing to our side is that the book does not like him. Therefore, this may not entirely benefit... him..."
Deloth: "...Alright, whoever comes out of that hole first is going to be turned inside-out." *cracks his knuckles.*
Aribar sighs, getting into a dark mood.* "You know any way to go back in time so we don't fall into his trap?"
Deloth walks over to Digi, casually passing a Fira from hand to hand as he approaches.
Digifanatic: "Just hit me with it. I deserve it."
Dex: "No. However, the machine can be fixed."
Deloth: "Gladly." *smashes the Fira into Digi's stomach at point-blank range.*
Dex: "It just means Ganondorf gets more time to play around. Unless one of you is a mechanic or higher."
Aribar: "... Perhaps we could pay a quick visit to Mr. Patch."
Chancé: "Let me see that contraption, Val, I believe you know about mechanics too?"
Digifanatic: "I probably needed that, but that doesn't give you the right to keep doing it."
Metal Man (GM): Val avoided the explosion.
Feint: "I can try and help a little."
Chancé: "I believe we could combine our talents of weirdness and engineering."
Valentine Kilmer: "Yes. And I would like everything else remaining untouched."
Deloth walks back to the pile of machine parts, not saying anything.
Dex: "A word of caution--if the device is not put together right, it may actually damage reality instead."
Metal Man (GM): Some parts are fried. Others broken.
Chancé: "Ah wonderful."
Metal Man (GM): No one would know if anyone could replace some of these parts.
Feint: "Well, that could be a good thing. Super-Powered us!"
Deloth: "We are so screwed, aren't we?"
Dragoshi: *He looks to see if any of the parts are computer-based.* "Well it could also be a bad thing."
Chancé goes down to look at the exploding anti-parts.
Feint: "True, but I'm an optimist."
Aribar: "Could we honestly screw things up any more?"
Valentine Kilmer: "So let's take our time." *She begins to inspect what parts exactly is needed to be replaced.*
Feint: *Looks over the machines.*
Deloth: "Yes."
Dragoshi: .oO(...Optimism and stupidity can come rather close together, though..)
Metal Man (GM): About half of the parts are computer based. Others are sort of quasi-nuclear in their capabilities. Dragoshi would remember how long it took Professor Oak, Metal Man, Dr. Carrol, and Dr. Light (!) to put this together originally.
Deloth opens his Dex and rings HQ. "Metal, we have a severe problem here."
Metal Man: (Dex) "Yes?"
Deloth: (Dex) "The machine's destroyed. Totally wrecked. Thanks to a certain someone who I will not name at this moment." *fires a withering glare at Digi.*
Valentine Kilmer: "...Not completely. We can make it work. Just need a few parts."
Chancé: "Val, could you take parts from the anti device?"
Valentine Kilmer: "It's a possibility."
Metal Man: (Dex) "Well, then you're going to need to bring the parts back for us to repair... you must remember, it took the greatest scientific minds and my inhumanly precise robotic hands to put it together. If you put it together, it might melt part of reality, or somethin'. Unless you know somebody better than us at repairing things... like... Mr. Patch."
Deloth: "Who?"
Aribar: "And in less than a second it was broken apart.."
Valentine Kilmer: "...Dr. Robotnik."
Deloth: "By the way, did I mention that a Quester was responsible for the breakage?"
Chancé picks up non fried parts from the anti device.
Chancé: "Thanks to the Dark Prognosticus and it's... ability."
Metal Man: (Dex) "I knew it had to be, because you guys don't often allow for random people to break things."
Feint: "More thanks to our ability to break whatever we find."
Deloth: "Right. You can just deduct it from my pay."
Metal Man: (Dex) "Dr. Robotnik? We... can't seem to find him... I guess it'd be easier for you guys to search for him, though, than to find all the parts required to put it back together."
Valentine Kilmer: "Enough of Quester ignorance for now. We have a machine to rebuild. Let's get it back to the HQ."
Deloth: "Right." *slaps his Dex shut.*
Feint: "Did you just hang up on Metal?"
Metal Man (GM): A warp back to HQ appears.
Aribar: "Or we could just surrender to Ganondorf and become his servants. Just skip past our incompetence all together."
Feint: "Great idea."
Deloth: "Shut up, both of you."
Valentine Kilmer: "This mission is a failure for now. Nothing more to do than to find my employer." *She saids nothing more as she enters into the warp.*
Chancé: "..."
Feint: *walks through the warp.*
Deloth starts gathering up the parts silently.
Chancé: "She needs a hug, after she puts down those important parts."
Chancé enters the warp.
Aribar sighs and trudges into the warp.
Deloth just warps, then.
Dragoshi: *Also gathers up some parts before heading back into the warp.*
Digifanatic: *definitely hangs down in the back of the line.* *does warp.*
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* The parts materialize with you in HQ. Metal Man seems nonplussed.
Metal Man: "Okay then. You blew it up, and it sounds like you have a plan to fix it. What's the plan?"
Chancé: "Find Mr. Patch?"
Valentine Kilmer: "Or Dr. Robotnik."
Chancé: "Like you said, do it ourselves faxing may lead to a tearing of the world."
Metal Man: "Dr. Robotnik? That's the problem. His last machine indicated he still walked the world... but that was before The Void blew it up. You already checked one base and found it abandoned. That leaves one probability." *He flips through... a list.* "The Crashed Death Egg, in Sonic's realm. It's underwater and a scary mess. But records indicate the closest thing to 'Dr. Ivo Robotnik' was seen there before The Void did his big world-exploding dealie."
Aribar: "Ivo would probably side with Ganondorf after he 'fixes' the device."
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Valentine Kilmer: "...Wasn't there a man from that realm that use to be around here?"
Deloth: "So are you suggesting we break out the welding torch and electrical tape, Ari?"
Metal Man: "Who, Ivan Robotnik? Unlike Ivo, we have no trace of him."
Digifanatic: "So what about Mr. Patch?"
Valentine Kilmer: "No. He has no name. Just laughs a lot."
Metal Man: "I believe he was made up by The Void... Ivan, that is... Mr. Patch is a standby, but you have to like riding a mine cart. Oh, him. He probably wouldn't have the knowledge to fix it."
Deloth: "I could do without that, personally."
Deloth goes back to pondering if he should rat Digi out or not...
Chancé: "Odds of us fixing it ourselves?"
Metal Man: "Lower than 5%."
Aribar: "I still believe we couldn't do that much more damage to reality by tearing a hole in it. Of course.."
Valentine Kilmer: "Not that. I would be best to leave him out of this."
Metal Man: "And I'd help fix it like we did then, but something is different."
Metal Man holds up a broken part "We can't replace this."
Valentine Kilmer: "There is also the hint of finding my employer now. So I'm going."
Deloth: "No, you're not."
Chancé: "What is it?"
Digifanatic: *looks at the part Metal's holding up.*
Deloth: "You're involved in this mess, Val. I'm not letting you chicken out now."
Valentine Kilmer: "That's not for you to decide for me."
Chancé: "Stop arguing like schoolbo--gir--people the both of you."
Dragoshi: "Yes. It's looking quite idiotic."
Valentine Kilmer: "I told you. I'm an adviser. Not a Quester. Fix your own mistakes."
Deloth: "So let me get this straight. At the VERY FIRST sign of trouble--shut up, Chancé--, you decide to chicken out."
Valentine Kilmer: "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to prepare for the search."
Metal Man (GM): Digi would see that the unreplacable part is a fried box of some kind.
Dragoshi: "In any case, I suggest that we should check up on that crashed Death Egg...Though, that's just me."
Metal Man (GM): A strange robot walks in on the conversation.
Deloth: "Maybe if you dropped that superior attitude and actually HELPED OUT, some of these messes wouldn't happen."
Digifanatic: "Wait a second..." *glances at the robot.*
Feint: "I'm all for the Death Egg." *waiting for a fight.*
E Li Three: "May I interject? I... have a place filled with rare objects... including... a box with a machine just like this, labeled 'In Case Digifanatic Blows up the first one.'"
Dragoshi: "Drop it, Del." *Glances at the Robot after saying that.*
Valentine Kilmer: "...Hmm." *She's busy looking at the robot.*
Dragoshi: "...Wow. That's convenient. In a very wacky way."
Chancé: "You interest me, I would like to subscribe to your newsletter."
E Li Three: "Of course... you must pass many tests of DEATH and DOOM and... NEFARIOUS PURPLE BLINDS to get it, but it may be less problematic than Egg-head's death-ship."
Feint: "Nefarious purple blinds...?"
Digifanatic: .oO(Man oh man, who to trust now?)
E Li Three: "And, unlike the other million times... I will give people direct rewards... if they should succeed with an additional bet."
Deloth beats down the desire to separate Valentine's head from her shoulders and turns around to the robot, suddenly feeling very, very tired.
Deloth: "What additional bet?"
E Li Three: "Coins, items, or weapons will do. You should remember, Deloth. My Iron Knuckle chopped your head off once! A ha ha ha haaa!"
Aribar: "You're... That E Li Three person, right? Heard a great deal about you, but I don't think I've ever been on any of your little... Tests."
Valentine Kilmer: "None the less. I must go on this lead. Dr. Robotnik will help fulfilled in restoring the parts at my request."
Deloth winces at THAT memory. "I had NEARLY forgotten that, thank you."
E Li Three: "Of course. She can look for Egghead AND you can get the replacement part... two things at once!"
Chancé: "Val, E Li Three could tell you directly where he is."
E Li Three: "Why, yes I could... but you would ALSO have to take the test... The magical Eggman detector is a one-of-a-kind object, it was used in the plot of an obscure play once..."
Valentine Kilmer: "More games?"
Deloth: "Fine, I'll take the test just to get this done. Where is it?"
Chancé: "So about that newsletter E Li?"
E Li Three: "I am the game master, that's a name I would have had, had I not elected for this." He turns to Chancé. "Alas. That you would also have to bet an item for, Chancé. The test is done in the Metal Temple, in the Gerudo Desert. Right this way."
Metal Man (GM): He inexplicably takes out the Doorman's staff and makes a door to the Metal Temple.
Deloth portals through... wait, where's the cake?
Dragoshi: *Follows along. Yep.*
Feint: *Me too, me too!*
E Li Three: "I collected this staff long ago, buying it from an insane seller named Dave..." He walks into the door."
Valentine Kilmer: "Alright. I'll play your game. I shall take this test to find Dr. Robotnik."
Dragoshi: "Sheesh. You must've had to pay one hell of a pretty penny from Dave, then. 'Cause if I remember correctly he sold things at insanely high prices..."
Aribar follows, wondering what he'll find..
Chancé: "E Li what about a Mush and Roast Shroom?"
Chancé follows the others.
E Li Three: "Perhaps if you had Mushroomian Express. I am the richest man ever, at least, rich in bananas. Now... to remind you of what the game works like."
Metal Man (GM): He spins his hand around, pulling a cane out of thin air, and pointing to a blackboard which also materializes out of thin air. A self-writing piece of chalk draws various rooms.
Deloth: "Strike for a wrong action, three strikes loses your bet, right?"
Aribar crosses his arm and watches the insane robot explain.*
E Li Three: "In order to get your prize, you must wander through these rooms. You get three strikes for every wrong answer to a puzzle. In order to get more than the bare minimum valuable to you, you must bet something, which you will then lose if you lose."
Feint: *listening.*
E Li Three: "I have added a new twist to the game, by which people who want to aid their friends may pay 30 coins to give their friend an extra chance. Up to two extra. Only their friends, not themselves. This is because I like to promote charity!"
Chancé: "E li, how about insane old chocolate?"
E Li Three: "Will that be your... sacrifi--er, bet?"
Chancé: "Made by a spoony bard--Sure, why not.
Valentine Kilmer: "..." *She just sighs.*
Deloth hands E Li 15 coins and a grenade. "Here's my bet."
Aribar: "Hrm... How much will a moderate sum of cash get me? Preferably a weapon adept at stopping Ganondorf..." *Hefts a sack of 80 coins.*
Dragoshi: "...Is holy water a good enough betting object for you?"
Chancé: "What will you offer for information Val?"
E Li Three: "A moderate amount will get you a decent weapon, or an exceptionally odd item... 80 coins would get you something great! Information is cheap. If the lady would simply bet 5 coins..."
Chancé: "But Knowledge is power."
Deloth: "What'll my money and item possibly get me?"
Valentine Kilmer: "...Here's ten. I want it to be reliable." *She hands for 10 coins.*
E Li Three: "That shall perhaps give you back your dignity from the last time... and I might throw in some useful items." He takes the coins. "Very well."
Deloth: "I have no dignity, E Li. I lost that when I joined the Questers."
Valentine Kilmer: "You should support your own group, for the ups and downs."
E Li Three: "Perhaps. Anyone else going to... bet money or items?"
Dragoshi: *Bets the holy water...And one of Chancé's candies as well if he already hasn't* "And, what'll holy water along with a five-year-old candy with wacky side-effects be worth?"
E Li Three: "A life insurance plan in the form of an object, I guess. Subject to change, of course... more intelligent escapades deserve better rewards! Oh... and if you act like Digi did... I shall delight in watching you explode. A ha ha ha haaaa!" The door to the dungeon thingy opens.
Dragoshi: "...Life insurance plans are good."
Deloth heads through the door...
Valentine Kilmer: "Remember. Think before acting. Lucent, just don't do anything." *She hovers thorugh the doorway.*
Metal Man (GM): The first test is innocent enough. It's a box with four doors, one on each side. The door is obviously locked, and needs a key. Each door on the safe has the image of the suits on cards; the club, heart, diamond, etc.
Aribar enters the room as well. He keeps far away from the other Questers and anything of interest in the room.
Metal Man (GM): Spade too.
Dragoshi: *Does the same.*
Valentine Kilmer: "...Be careful of lock traps."
Metal Man (GM): Feint throws in his 10 coins for a bet.
Deloth looks around the room. Anything else standing out?
Metal Man (GM): Nothing at all. This is level 1, after all. Spades and Hearts all have their sharp points.
Chancé: "Hmm..."
Valentine Kilmer: *She busy looking at the box, seeing if there's anything around where the box is that seems a bit out of place.*
Metal Man (GM): The box stands on a pillar. The top of the box is entirely one color of silver, like the rest of the box. The side doors have little metal handles which look very shiny and round.
Chancé looks at the floor around the box.
Aribar paces about the box, hrming and wondering what challenge is there...*
Aribar: "Just a single box..."
Valentine Kilmer: *She then sees it's best to search for the possible keys for this box if there are any.*
Metal Man (GM): The box itself is unlocked. No locks on it. The handles on the sides look simple to pull on.
Chancé: "... Hmm, each of us stand on one side and pull together?"
Dragoshi: "Check underneath the box...?"
Deloth looks... um... at the underside of the box?
Valentine Kilmer: "Check for any triggering traps then pull."
Dragoshi: "And check the pillar. Just in case the box is a distraction." >_>
Metal Man (GM): The pedestal and box mesh perfectly. No one can really look there.
Feint: *examines the lock on the door.*
Metal Man (GM): The lock on the door requires a very specific key.
Feint: *just the door in general then.*
Metal Man (GM): The box shakes a little as you walk around it.
Chancé: "The four suits must work together in a dec."
Valentine Kilmer: "Someone double check me then see what's inside it."
Metal Man (GM): The floor is boring orange stone.
Aribar: "Okay, so we have a box with four sides. Something could possibly happen when we open a side. We also have a locked door... Hrm."
Deloth closes his eyes and starts thinking. "Connections between suits and a key... hmm..."
Feint: "..."
Aribar: "I would imagine the content of each side is either a trap or a key. Possibly the right key, possibly the wrong."
Chancé: "Aribar or each door leads to a device unless opened together generates the wrong key, or trap."
Feint: "Or it could be something as simple as 'Open Sesame.'"
Deloth: "Umm... XYZZY!"
Metal Man (GM): One would wonder why you'd be given a cube with four doors, with no way to tell which one is the right one to open. These challenges always have only one answer, which is seemingly the most logical one.
Chancé: "Valentine, do you want to open the hearts door?"
Deloth: *Wait a minute. The door IS locked, yes?*
Metal Man (GM): All one can see in this room is the additional thing of a lanp on the ceiling pointed down and lighting up the box, but that's not very important.
Feint: "Yes, very obviously."
Deloth gives the door a cautious push, just to make sure.
Valentine Kilmer: "I'd rather see if the door has a matching symbol."
Feint: "Hey, E Li guy, if one of us gets a strike, is it a strike just for us, or for the entire party?"
E Li Three: "It is based on individuals, not the group."
Metal Man (GM): The door does not open. Neither does Deloth explode.
Deloth heads back to the cube. Just making sure.
Valentine Kilmer: *Does a quick check on the door to see if there's an symbols on it that would match the cube.*
Deloth: "There's gotta be SOMETHING we're missing here..."
Aribar: "Okay, I am going to use some logic here. From what I know, that is a bad thing when it comes to E Li Three, but... The Diamond and the Heart do not look like keys. The Spade and the Club have a grip part and then a straight part which could be the part which enters the lock. Not technical terms, but hopefully my point is understandable."
Feint: "If that's not his thing, lets use some illogic...al...ness."
Deloth looks at the pedestal to see if it was shaking.
Chancé looks at the keyhole.
Metal Man (GM): The box was shaking, but not the pedestal. It shook whenever anyone walked by it quickly enough.
Feint: *Tugs lightly on the ceiling light, seeing if its a pull string or something.*
Metal Man (GM): The keyhole is key-shaped.
Deloth: "...I'm probably gonna use one of my strikes for this, but..."
Deloth gives the pedestal a firm kick.
Metal Man (GM): The top of the box moves oddly when you poke the light. The pedestal is stuck in place. You only suffer foot pain.
Feint: *Pull on the light a little.*
Metal Man (GM): It moves in coordination with the light, like a hologram.
Deloth winces. "Okay, that didn't work..."
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Feint: *moves it over to the door.*
Metal Man (GM): Feint moves it over there, removing the top to the box. The key sitting right inside it.
Feint: *grabs it* "I love me."
Metal Man (GM): It appears the doors of the box were rigged with destructive bombs.
Dragoshi: "Good job there, Feint."
Chancé: "Hmm, I was wrong, nice work Feint."
Deloth: "Nice."
Feint: "Thank you, thank you."
Metal Man (GM): The key can be used to proceed to level 2.
Aribar: "... Thank you for preventing me from exploding. I was about to just say heck with it and open a side."
Feint: *goes to the door and inserts the key* "I was just about to make a bad pun about thinking outside the box."
Chancé: "To level 2 then?"
Feint: "Onward."
Deloth: *Level 2!*
Feint: *turns and opens the door.*
Metal Man (GM): Feint opens the door, revealing the more sinister level 2. There are three ways to progress: To the left, a doorway with a mirror in it. To the right, a gigantic flaming hallway. In the center: An ice cream parlor door. A sign says 'Only the most sinister path is the safest way.'
Chancé: "... Yep, his newsletter would rock. E Li does not define sinister though."
Feint: "Ice cream men are pedophiles who also rot teeth. I say let's go that way."
Deloth looks at the parlor door. What flavors are being advertised?
Dragoshi: "...Why do I have a feeling that knowing E Li, that the ice cream parlor or the mirror is the most threatening."
Aribar: "Okay, at first glance the flaming hallway would be the most deadly."
Chancé: "But not sinister."
Aribar: "Sinister..."
Metal Man (GM): Chocolate, Vanilla, and Mint Chip flavors are on display in the ice cream shop.
Deloth: "Well, mint chocolate chip IS pretty vile..."
Feint: "Hmm..." *Goes and stands in front of the mirror.*
Chancé: "Hey, I like that!"
Deloth heads over to the door with the mirror and looks at that.
Aribar tries to cast a bit of divination magic upon the mirror door to see if there's any magical auras around it...
Dragoshi: "No, no. You're thinking of sherbet, Del. Now that's truly sinister."
Feint: "Sherbet is the shit."
Metal Man (GM): Feint sees himself in the mirror.
Feint: "Rum Raisin is pure evil."
Metal Man (GM): The mirror, like all paths, are magical.
Valentine Kilmer: "...Enough of mindless flavors."
Chancé: "So you don't like ice cream Val?"
Deloth makes an evil face into the mirror, just for kicks.
Metal Man (GM): It is reflected back by the mirror.
Valentine Kilmer: "I think facing yourself is indeed the worst thing you can do."
Metal Man (GM): The mirror can be walked into, as it is a path.
Feint: "Well...I'm assuming vanity is the most sinister thing..." *reaches out to the mirror.*
Metal Man (GM): Feint vanishes, having picked his path.
Aribar takes a deep breath...*
Valentine Kilmer: "You all may do as you wish." *Goes through the mirror path.*
Deloth: "Well, since I still have three strikes, what the heck." *Mirror.*
Aribar: "The mirror... Would it reflect ourselves somehow? Does it make us fear the unknown beyond? Hrm..."
Chancé: "Which side is the left?"
Aribar looks inside the ice cream parlor door. If it does have windows, what's inside?
Metal Man (GM): Women and children eating ice cream, and an old fashioned ice cream shop guy serving it. Chancé: The mirror.
Chancé: "The mirror it is then!"
Chancé heads into the mirror.
Aribar: "Only the most sinister path is the safest..."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar is the last one left undecided. Who knows which side is the right one, though...
Aribar tries to cast a fire protection spell... If possible... And enters the firey hallway of death.
Dragoshi: *Hasn't chosen a path yet either.*
Metal Man (GM): Aribar vanishes into that one, leaving Dragoshi to choose. *.
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi would head to the ice cream parlor.*
Metal Man (GM): And with that, everyone finds out the true path... the Mirror. As the world on the other hand is... all mirror-y. Along the way, Dragoshi is attacked by an antimatter barber and Aribar is set on fire... they each lose 1 strike.
Chancé: "Sinister, Left."
Metal Man (GM): For this related to the obscure latin pun 'Sinistra', relating to left. Also, the implications of a mirror are often more sinister than a barber shop or fire thingy. Your new foe is a strange one; in the mirror world, a knight of blue armor and extremely elaborate appearance blocks your path, in this surreal mirror world.
Deloth DOESN'T throw rocks and dust into his mouth, for starters.
???: "Halt! I am the unstoppable being who controls the Void! All who confront me shall be thrown into darkness... unless they present me a tribute first!"
Deloth: "What would you like as a tribute?"
Chancé holds up his Twilight Mirror in front of himself? "I present you with yourself, take yourself as a tribute."
Valentine Kilmer: "...Ugh."
Dragoshi: "...Wait a second. Why would one who would be able to control something as reality-breakingly powerful as The Void want a tribute? It's nonsensical."
Valentine Kilmer: "Wouldn't it be reversed?"
Deloth: "I think it's a stylistic thing, Drago."
???: "Ha ha ha! Foolish mortal!" Chance is obliterated by Ultima. -1 chance.
Chancé: "Ugh, worth a shot."
???: "Give me a befitting tribute! A mirror is worthless!"
Valentine Kilmer: "Before we do, I have a question." *She hovers out slightly.* "This is the mirror world, correct?"
Metal Man (GM): He does not answer, wanting a tribute instead.
Deloth: "Hey, wait. If this is the mirror of our world, then you should be giving US something, since normally we'd give YOU something."
Valentine Kilmer: "So if you're asking for tribute, the mirror of that is giving us tribute."
???: "Like I'd do that!" He doesn't Ultima you, however; harmless conjecture.
Chancé: "Hmm, you two agreeing. That is a small amazement."
Valentine Kilmer: "Thus the mirror of you not being able to control what you claim and your armor is plastic and pink."
???: "Of course... but that mirror is in the mirror of this world. I am the true thing here! Ha ha ha ha!"
Valentine Kilmer: "But what if that is a mirror too? Lies to truth and truth to lies."
Feint: "Exactly how unstoppable are you?"
???: "Perhaps... but you shall never get out of here with talk like that! All attempts to approach me will cast you into darkness, so I suggest you give me a tribute!"
Deloth: "A tribute of what?"
Aribar: "... What will giving you a tribute do?"
Chancé: So all attempts to back away will lead us to light?
???: "Pay for you to pass... ...of course it will, you came from it... ...grant me all the coins you own and you shall pass!"
Deloth: "Certainly."
Chancé: "Pass into what?"
Deloth takes out his empty coin bag and puts it at the knight's feet.
Dragoshi: "Heh...Like I'd give one who controls one who was a master at the art of deception and convoluting reality my money just to be potentially sheeped into annihilation."
Aribar watches what happens to Del...*
???: "Ha ha! You are a foolish knave. Why would I let someone pass with a tribute either?" He zaps Deloth with lightning. -1 chance to Deloth.
Feint: *Shrugs and walks on past the guard.* I rather like the darkness."
Metal Man (GM): Feint walks right on by. It becomes dark, but he is not harmed.
???: "Hahahahaha! I have cast him into the darkness!"
Valentine Kilmer: "Exactly."
Chancé follows. "Why not?"
Feint: *charges up some light energy.*
Dragoshi: "Oh, shut up." *Follows Feint into the darkness. Whee.*
???: "Wait... not you too! Give me tribute!"
Valentine Kilmer: *She goes as well.*
Deloth trudges forward past the knight. Cue the bruised ego...
Dragoshi: .oO(I've been hit with entire spaceships. So being cast into darkness is a lesser thing to me.)
Metal Man (GM): You walk onto... Level 4. Yes, however you don't need it as you appear at the next challenge, a fully lit area. Now in the mirror realm as well.
Aribar shrugs and follows the others, guessing they aren't dying...
Metal Man (GM): An old foe stands here... chained over the door, at that. It is Smithy... and this is apparently the afterlife he was sent to after being blown to pieces.
Valentine Kilmer: "..." *She just looks at the door.*
Deloth: "Oh, hiya, Smithers."
Dragoshi: "...Hey, it's a giant toaster."
Metal Man (GM): The bearded Toaster man looks up from his chains, cursing.
Smithy: "It's the Questers! Of all the indignities to visit me in this nonexistence!"
Aribar: "..."
Deloth: "Nice to see you, too."
Feint: "I would think it would be nice to have any visitors, whoever you are."
Smithy: "Tricky to help you... tricked to DIE... my own double-agent to become an agent against me... I would let you through to end my suffering of your existence... but... I'm stuck!"
Aribar: "I never knew robots had souls. That is, to pass onto the afterlife.."
Chancé: "Why not transform?"
Smithy: "I was created with the same infernal spark as those things you call... Mavericks... or what they may be. But apparently, I am supposed to get you out of here... that's what the placard I was shown said..."
Metal Man (GM): He lifts a hand.
Dragoshi: "Or, yanno, pass on to another part of death or something."
Smithy: "Cut my chains and you, too shall be free!"
Dragoshi: "Hahahaaaa...No."
Aribar: "Or you'll take your revenge upon us."
Smithy: "But the only door out is behind me. You have no choice! Hahahahahaha! Hahahahahaaaaa!"
Chancé: "Define Free. Define the definition."
Deloth: "We have a choice to simply sit here and watch you squirm."
Aribar walks up to Smithy..."
Dragoshi: "I'd rather read my book."
Chancé: *Tries to open the door without moving the chains*
Feint: "Or just destroy you completely to remove you from the door."
Metal Man (GM): The chains that hold Smithy also hold the door shut.
Smithy: "Destroy me? I'd like to see you try. For this is the only door, and... err... yes. Don't try!"
Metal Man (GM): You can't see any.
Dragoshi: "No. Try. 'Cause usually, when someone says 'don't try!' like that, the opposite should totally be done...Well, most of the time anyway."
Deloth: "Sure, Drago. You first."
Dragoshi: "No, no. I insist that Feint does it, since he suggested the destruction of Smithy in the first place."
Feint: "You just think I'll be right."
Chancé: "Anyone want to join me in a rousing chorus of "This is the song that never ends?""
Deloth: "Shut UP, Chance."
Aribar looks for hinges on the door... And tries to determine what the door is made out of.*
Smithy: "Yes! Do it! I dare you!"
Deloth: "Well, Feint, you've been right so far. Go for it."
Metal Man (GM): The door's made of steel. Smithy's stuck it it, the chains which bind him also lock the door.
Feint: "Ok, so about how much damage can this guy take?"
Metal Man (GM): He's stuck there and still full of holes and damage. A good karate chop and he'd be dead.
Dragoshi: "...First you're all 'No, don't destroy me!', and then you're all "Yes, do it!". Well, which one is it?! MAKE UP YOUR MIND!"
Valentine Kilmer: "Hold on."
Smithy: "No, I mean yes! Sing lots of stuff! I want to see you kill one another one last time.."
Chancé: "This is the mirror world."
Aribar: "..." *Random thought.* "Smithy, open your mouth."
Chancé: "So, we would kill him in the real world yes?"
Smithy: *Opens his mouth, but by talking* "What for?"
Dragoshi: "He's already dead in reality."
Chancé: "So shouldn't we save him here? If he attacks us, we can defeat him, he looks weak..."
Aribar tries to see if he can see the other side of the door when Smithy talks.
Valentine Kilmer: "He looks weak be could be strong."
Metal Man (GM): Sort of. Just barely.
Aribar: "Guys, I sort of see the other side through Smithy's mouth... I say we let him eat us!"
Valentine Kilmer: "Knock the chains loose. That's my suggestion."
Smithy: "Left is right and right is left. You should already know that! Foolish children."
Chancé: "Besides, someone might have stuffed him with explosives."
Smithy: "I wish. Then I could stay dead instead of being revived for constant generations of Questers to laugh at."
Aribar: "Hey, Smithy... Would you mind if we healed you?"
Valentine Kilmer: "...Hmm" *She doesn't seem to say anything about this idea."
Smithy: "That would be nice, yes."
Feint: "I got nothing on this one, I don't know enough about this guy."
Chancé: "I say just break the chains."
Feint: "I was thinking along those lines."
Dragoshi: "That'd be way too obvious."
Aribar: "I'm gonna try something. Stand back if you wish!"
Dragoshi: *Stands back. For serious.*
Chancé steps back and hides behind his mirror.
Aribar waits for the others to take action before he takes out a mushroom and rips off a little bit of it off and tossing it into Smithy's mouth. That way if he goes HULK SMASH or anything, it won't be too major.
Deloth steps back somewhat lackadaisically.
Feint: *Just watches.*
Metal Man (GM): Aribar inexplicably explodes from this action. So does the piece of mushroom.
Smithy: "Nooooo!!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): -1 chance to Aribar.
Smithy: "That must be the twisted ruler of this realm... he wouldn't want me to be helped!"
Chancé: "Healing does not work."
Valentine Kilmer: "I thought so. Go for it, Flint."
Feint: "Well, he probably doesn't want you to die either, that would stop your suffering. Did you just call me Flint?"
Smithy: "Well, it's a shame that you're stuck here with me, but at least you're not annoying."
Deloth: "I could be annoying if you want me to."
Valentine Kilmer: "Hmm. So it appears I have... A strange world indeed."
Feint: "Here goes nothing..." *cuts the chains and ties Smithy back up with the remains and tosses him in a corner.*
Metal Man (GM): Feint is zapped by lasers from the ceiling. Apparently, he doesn't want Smithy to be moved. This is further made moot by the fact you discover the door behind Smithy is... painted... on? -1 chance to Feint.
Smithy: "Gah! I guess you're trapped here forever. Oh well." Smithy is, re-attached, too.
Deloth: "...Hey, Ari, did you say that you could sorta see the door in Smithy's mouth?"
Valentine Kilmer: "How disgusting."
Smithy: "Yeah, right. There's nothing in my mouth."
Dragoshi: "...Disgusting, but unexpectedly brilliant." >_>;;
Deloth: "C'mon, Smithy, open wide."
Valentine Kilmer: "Dragoshi can force it open easily."
Smithy: "Never! My mouth is only for polishing!"
Dragoshi: "Oh, just shut up, and keep your craw wide open." *To Smithy.*
Deloth: "So why are you being so hesitant about it if there's nothing in your mouth?"
Smithy: "Never! Go through the door to the left, but don't touch my beard!"
Chancé: "Door to the lef-- /*Looks*/"
Deloth reaches over and pulls Smithy's beard, because SERIOUSLY.
Valentine Kilmer: *She just watches Smithy.*
Metal Man (GM): It's... a beard. Meanwhile, to the left, there is a very hard to see outline of a door. Which Smithy just mentioned to you. With... a disguised knob.
Chancé opens the door.
Metal Man (GM): Chancé opens up the door. It's the way to the next level!
Chancé: "Do de do."
Chancé Levelz Up.
Smithy: "Now do you want to go to my mouth? I hope not! Take your door!"
Deloth: *Batting average is zero so far... anyways. Next level, Jeeves.*
Metal Man (GM): Chancé goes to the 5th level.
Valentine Kilmer: "You got away for now, Smithy. See you next week." *She then goes through the said door.*
Feint: "Onward!"
Dragoshi: *Moving on...*
Aribar follows...
Metal Man (GM): The next level... consists of an Iron Knuckle with an axe, and a door with an eye above it with runic markings all over it. There's no lock on the door, you can just walk through it if you want. But E Li Three has done this before--and the Iron Knuckle is standing there, only watching you. There's a red circle around the Iron Knuckle.
Deloth flinches at the sight of the Iron Knuckle... "BAAAAAD memories."
Feint: "Oooh, look at that armor."
Valentine Kilmer: *She looks at the eye above the door.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a shiny eye, which watches the Iron Knuckle. Red in color.
Aribar: *He looks to see if the red circle blocks access from walking to the door.*
Feint: *goes up to the red circle on the floor* "What's this for?"
Metal Man (GM): The circle does not block access. Aribar could even walk around it.
Valentine Kilmer: *She then looks at the Iron Knuckle and the red circle around it.*
Feint: Hmm... *follows the circle behind the Iron Knuckle and looks back there.*
Aribar skirts the Knuckle as far as he is able to and heads to the door.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar walks up to the door. The eye lasers him. -1 chance to Aribar.
Chancé: "Anyone have 30 gold for Ari?"
Metal Man (GM): Behind him and outside the ring is the door.
Deloth cautiously puts one toe into the big shiny red circle of doom.
Deloth then yanks it out really, really quickly.
Chancé: "I can contribute 10... what I have left..."
Metal Man (GM): You put one toe into the circle. The Iron Knuckle chops you over the head! You fly through the door so fast the eye can't laser you! Deloth is sent into the next level.
Feint: "...Badass..."
Deloth: *Doppler effect scream as he zooms into the next level.*
Chancé mimics Deloth.
Feint: *Jumps into the circle.*
Metal Man (GM): Chance flies to the next level, in the same fashion... as does Feint.
Valentine Kilmer: "...Curse this fate for helping these people." *She hovers into the red circle.*
Metal Man (GM): Val flies to the next level. In the same style.
Chancé: "Having fun yet?"
Metal Man (GM): Hence, the Questers are now at level 6... having survived 'E Li Three's Knight reversal!'
Dragoshi: *Decides to do the same as the others that successfully made it to level 6, by stepping into the red circle.*
Chancé: *Offers 10 gold to revive Aribar. Can someone add to it?*
Dragoshi: *Will offer the other 20 coins if nobody else adds on.*
Valentine Kilmer: "Oof!" *He lays on the ground next to her platform.* "Dr. Robotnik will give me a pay raise for this..."
Chancé: "Having fun yet Val?"
Feint: "So, level 6 what you got for me this time?"
Metal Man (GM): The next challenge, this level 6, possesses a new thing...
Chancé helps her up.
Valentine Kilmer: *She's helped up, dusting herself off before hopping onto the platform.*
Metal Man (GM): Here there is a room with three kinds of weights, and the other side, a door held shut with very heavy red tape. The three weight types are of gold, silver, and... guns????
Deloth: "...Red tape. Figures."
Dragoshi: "...A weight made out of guns?"
Valentine Kilmer: "Lead."
Deloth: *What kind of guns ARE those, anyways?*
Feint: "Guns fire bullets, bullets made of lead is very heavy compared to the other two."
Metal Man (GM): Magnums of some kind.
Valentine Kilmer: "The guns were usually made of iron as well."
Deloth: "Hrm... how about one gold and one gun?"
Chancé: "Throw the guns at the red tape and watch it explode?"
Deloth tries a one gold, one gun combination...
Metal Man (GM): The gold turns into more red tape. The guns shoot at the red tape. Bullets ricochet and shoot Deloth full of holes. -1 chance, Deloth. Perhaps these are symbols...
Deloth: *Ow...*
Valentine Kilmer: *She blinks. Seems she's thinking heavily.*
Feint: *walks up to the red tape* Hmm...
Metal Man (GM): The red tape seems to be evil in nature...
Feint: "Anyone have a pair of scissors?"
Valentine Kilmer: "I fail to see scissors doing what bullets didn't."
Feint: "Well, people cut red tape when opening buildings, etc. I don't see how getting sliced by an Iron Knuckle didn't hurt a little more."
Valentine Kilmer: *She then looks more closely at the Gold, Silver and Guns.*
Metal Man (GM): The gold seems to be very heavy, as if weighed down by something. The guns appear dangerous. The silver feels strangely light.
Valentine Kilmer: *She just uses the silver then.*
Dragoshi: "...Hmm. Question. Would it be possible to give someone that still has a chance an extra chance?"
E Li Three: "Of course."
Metal Man (GM): Val uses the silver. The purifying effects of it melt the tape easily. The way ahead is clear... to room 7.
Chancé: "Nice work Val."
Deloth: *Seven!*
Dragoshi: "...Oh. Huh. 'Kay. Thanks for the clarification, E Li. That always helps." *Pays 30 coins to give Del one more chance.*
Chancé follows her to 7.
Dragoshi: *Anyway, Dragoshi moves on to lucky number 7.*
Feint: *Follows.*
Valentine Kilmer: "Just took small observation. Nothing big." *She enters into the next room.*
Metal Man (GM): Here, the Questers see shadow versions of themselves approaching them. The blue man is back. And laughing again.
???: "Ha ha! I did cast dark versions of you while I was at it... try to pass me now!"
Dragoshi: "Not you again."
Metal Man (GM): The shadows mimic your every move.
Feint: *Walks up to his shadow and waves.*
Chancé makes walking motions to the left while not really walking.
Dragoshi: "I presume you're still taking tributes as well?"
Metal Man (GM): In this room are several deadly swords.
???: "Perhaps... but I'd favor watching shadows destroy you."
Valentine Kilmer: "...Like I needed another mirror."
Metal Man (GM): The Shadow of Chancé moves into the wall. However, there is no door out...
???: "You'll have to beat these things to get beyond me!"
Feint: *Walks over and examines the swords* Ooh, nice.
Metal Man (GM): They look lethal. Your shadow looks at a sword too. A deadly looking sword.
Feint: *Reaches for the hilt, but stops short.*
Metal Man (GM): The shadows have shadows too.
Valentine Kilmer: *She ponders if it the shadows Mimic all movements and items.*
Dragoshi: *Turns around, making the Shadow of Dragoshi turn around to face the man in the armor.*
Metal Man (GM): Indeed they do.
Chancé: "Can he ultima his created shadows?"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi makes his shadow face the man in armor.
Feint: *picks up the sword to more closely examine it.*
Chancé makes his shadow run after the blue dude by mimicking the actions needed. Then he mimics a potion arrack on the man.
Metal Man (GM): Feint's shadow also picks up a sword, and also mimics it. Chancé's shadow runs into the man and mimics the attack. The ??? gets angry and obliterates it.
Feint: *lowers the sword to his hip and reaches out to shake his shadows hand.*
???: "...Wait a minute... wrong person! Gah!"
Chancé: "Thank you."
Metal Man (GM): Feint shakes his shadow's hand. It is an antimatter hand! Ahhhh! *BOOOM.* -1 chance to Feint.
Dragoshi: *Has his shadow tug on the man's helmet. >_>*
Metal Man (GM): The man blows up the Dragoshi clone.
???: "I wish I had made them look more different... bah!"
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi moves on along* "What a nine..."
Metal Man (GM): Feint's shadow is gone now. And with the rest of the Shadows destroyed in the same fashion, Room 7 is completed... leaving us... room 8 and 9 and 10!
(A new session began. And I abruptly forgot about Room 7 being completed. So here goes another room 7!)
Metal Man (GM): And Aribar is given another chance via some donations and items! He better be careful, because we're on... Room 7. This room is fairly simple. In fact, possibly less deadly than the others. However, there's no obvious exit, and a giant statue of a swordsman in the middle of the room. He stands on a concrete block. The top of his head is oddly flat. The block has arrows pointing up on its sides. Nothing else in the room. Quite strange. Of course, I can describe interior decoration... Brown dirt walls, gray tile floor, and dirt ceiling.
Aribar mutters a thanks to his benefactor and then looks at everything in the room worth noting...*
Metal Man (GM): Dim light coming from two torches implacably stuck to the wall. If you DID get them loose, they wouldn't really be useful. The door behind you vanishes once you enter, taking it out of the picture.
Deloth looks upwards... can he possibly jump to the top of the statue?
Metal Man (GM): The air is somewhat dank and it smells like an old basement. One can jump, or can climb.
Chancé: "Push the statue over maybe? Hmm."
Aribar: "I would imagine that the swordsman might chop a person in half..."
Deloth: "Well, one thing we know is that it CAN'T be as easy as it looks."
Deloth looks at the arrow box.
Aribar also looks at the top of the box. He also ventures cautiously about the room, looking at the walls, floor, ceiling, and air to see if he can detect anything secret. The elf always attempts to keep away from the swordsman, however.
Metal Man (GM): The statue is entirely stationary. The arrow box thingy is made of concrete and heavy. Nothing really secret to find. The top of the box has a strange little depression where the statue sits. You can move the statue. The statue is... perfectly mundane.
Deloth: "Maybe there's something in that little depression there?"
Deloth wonders how to get that statue off, though...
Metal Man (GM): The statue looks sorta heavy, but Deloth could probably lift it. If he's careful.
Aribar creeps over to the statue and looks at the depression... Does it look like a sword could go in there? Or wrong kind of depression?*
Metal Man (GM): The depression is being filled currently by the statue sitting in it. It's a little square-like slot. Apparently to keep the statue from falling off easily.
Deloth carefully grabs the statue and starts lifting it up...
Aribar: "I think... Maybe the box can be turned around?"
Metal Man (GM): Deloth fumbles and is smushed by the statue. He got it free, though! But he's stuck under the statue. All would see the slot that is now open. Also, the statue is about Quester height. The top of the statue is flat. Strange.
Deloth: *muffled* "MRPRGMLGN!"
Metal Man (GM): Someone can move the box now.
Aribar tries to roll the statue off of Del.*
Metal Man (GM): Aribar now has the stature stuck on him. Deloth is free though.
Aribar: "Aah! The suffocating pressure! It burns!"
Deloth: "Aw, crap..." *pushes aside his own pain from one or two bruised ribs and tries to lift the statue back onto the block, heads down this time.*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth picks it up and puts it that way. Of course, you could have put the cube atop it, too, but either way works. *CLICK* A door out appears, and Aribar is much less flatter.
Deloth: *Onwards... ow.*
Aribar: "I am... Moderately... Broken.." *Follows Del.*
Metal Man (GM): Room 8 contains a new strange puzzle. Same decor, but now you have a door blocked by a giant blast door, and a control panel for it. The control panel has a few different things. First, the buttons: Frog Blast Vent Core, Raise Siphon Levels, Radioactive Discharge, Satellite Activation, Status Chk, and Self Destruct. Then, the levers: Open Blast Door A, Open Blast Door B, Open Reactor Blast Door, Open Open Banana. Finally, there's some buttons which stay down if pushed. Only one of those is pushed in.
Deloth: "...Frog Blast Vent Core? What the heck is THAT supposed to mean?!"
Metal Man (GM): Main Power (Pushed in and activated), Emergency Power, Banana Power, Disco Power, Miscellaneous Power, 9000 Power.
Aribar: "... O... Okay..."
Metal Man (GM): Those are the controls. No one can access the inside of the panel and all of the buttons are accessible. There is no other control thing in the room.
Deloth: "Uh... I have a really bad idea."
Metal Man (GM): Obviously, you need to get past that door ahead. But these controls are infuriatingly confusing(TM).
Aribar: "I doubt it would be as simple as opening all the blast doors..."
Metal Man (GM): HINT: Not all choices will kill you.
Deloth: "...Should I go ahead and try said really bad idea?"
Metal Man (GM): But some things may be counter-intuitive!
Aribar stands FAR away from Del... In fact, back in the last room if possible.*
Metal Man (GM): Aribar stands as far back as he can. Away from the door and control panel. He should be safe.
Aribar: "Uhh... Sure, Del." *Readies for the worst.*
Deloth takes a deep breath, hits the Self-Destruct button, and jumps into the flamingo defense pose (one arm in front of face, one leg drawn up to protect crotch, other arm guarding midsection)
Computer: "ERROR: Security Mode is activated. Self Destruct command failure."
Metal Man (GM): Nothing happens.
Aribar: "... Security mode?"
Deloth: *drops said pose... hm.*
Digifanatic: "Huh...I wonder if he rearranged the labels. If that's true, I'm not going for the Status Check button."
Deloth: "I was hoping that Self-Destruct would blow up the door... You wanna give it a look, Digi?"
Digifanatic: "Alright, but I'm NOT hitting anything immediately. In fact...I'm thinking about scanning this to see if something's odd with it. Any objections before I do anything?"
Aribar: "Nope."
Deloth: "Not here..." *backs away just in case, though.*
Digifanatic: "Alright..." *scans the machine to look for any oddities.* "At least if something blows up this time, I was doing the more conservative strategy."
Dex: "This is a completely ordinary control panel with a number of modes."
Digifanatic: "Dex, can you give an explanation as to why it did not self-destruct?"
Deloth: "I'm almost afraid to ask as to what the Frog Blast button does, then..."
Dex: "Negative, it is insulated from scanning rays."
Digifanatic: "Ah. Okay, thank you."
Metal Man (GM): It IS in Security mode, after all.
Aribar: "I say... We try and pull one of the levers."
Digifanatic: *closes Dex* "Alright. If the self-destruct didn't self-destruct the machine...hmm... I'd like to try Status Check, myself."
Deloth: "Go for it."
Digifanatic: "Alright. I'll hit Stat Check and Ari, flip the lever you want to after we've figured this one out." *hits Status Check.*
Computer: "Current Status: Security Mode activated. Main Power activated."
Digifanatic: "Okay, so nothing hazardous here. Now for what Ari's looking for..." *looks at the levers again* "Emergency Power looks to be the safest."
Deloth: "How the heck are we gonna turn off Security Mode with THIS set of options?"
Digifanatic: "I'm not sure if I want to know what Disco Power will do, 9000 Power could be anything, and who knows how random Miscellaneous Power is going to be."
Metal Man (GM): We're waiting for somebody brave enough to press some buttons on a control panel.
Deloth: "You go first, Digi, I insist..."
Digifanatic: "Well, no problem. This is like Russian Roulette." *flips Emergency Power lever.*
Metal Man (GM): There is no such lever. It is a button. Which gets pushed.
Computer: "Cannot enable Emergency Power: Main power is already activated."
Digifanatic: "Okay, that's fair enough... What do you think? Should I shut off the Main and go for the Emergency?"
Deloth: "I can't really think of anything else... just be quick in the switch."
Digifanatic: "Alright, then." *shuts off Main Power and then turns on Emergency Power, if turning on Emer Power is not automatic.*
Computer: "WARNING! Emergency power activated. Security Mode deactivated. Possibly dangerous commands are available now."
Metal Man (GM): The lights in this room turn to a red hue.
Digifanatic: "Okay, okay..."
Chancé: "Hmm... I have no idea..."
Digifanatic: *stays calm for now* "This should be easily reversible if we deem it necessary."
Deloth: "Okay... self-destruct to blow up the door?"
Chancé: "It's E Li Three, self destruct means 'self destruct YOU.'"
Deloth: "Or he could be making us think like that when self-destruct is actually the right option."
Chancé presses the Status Chk button.
Chancé: "To quote a friend of mine "Oooh, what does this button do...?""
Computer: "Current status: Emergency mode. Dangerous commands activated. Power levels slightly lower than normal."
Digifanatic: "Well, okay...Bananas and E Li Three normally involve implosion of some sort... Are we unanimous in laying low on that unless it's absolutely necessary?"
Chancé: "I would switch it back to normal power, then go for the open blast doors buttons... But that is just me.."
Digifanatic: "That's a perhaps."
Deloth: "Try the blast door buttons now?" *shrugs.*
Chancé: "Turn it back to normal mode first.."
Deloth: "Probably not, though. That's a little TOO obvious..."
Digifanatic: "Okay..." *shuts Emergency Power off and reverts to Main Power."
Metal Man (GM): It is changed back.
Chancé presses open blast door A.
Computer: "Unable to comply with request. Stream Error 5."
Chancé preses Status Check.
Computer: "Main power on. Security Mode enabled."
Chancé: "Blarg. Someone who is good with technology can do this."
Digifanatic: "Well... Anyone want to try Miscellaneous Power, or should we stick with Emergency?"
Chancé: "Up to you digi... I really need to invent melt blast door acid."
Digifanatic: "Heh..." *shuts off Main Power and tries Miscellaneous Power, but leaves it at that.*
Computer: "R@#!(!#TRN@TIOT$NYOMGBBQ$@!I#B!T#!!T!!!"
Metal Man (GM): The lights flicker randomly and the panel seems to shake.
Digifanatic: "Oh, that's ugly!" *shuts that off and turns Main Power back on.*
Computer: "Main power mode back on. Security Mode enabled."
Digifanatic: "Hmm...how about?" *just shuts Main Power off and waits to see if anything odd happens.*
Metal Man (GM): The lights turn off. Nothing else.
Digifanatic: "Okay, at least that was harmless...you think Disco Power is that bad aside from the colored lights and music?"
Aribar: "I still think the blast door panels... Might... Be our best bet."
Metal Man (GM):The group has gotten close to the answer before... but paranoia may keep them trapped here forever. :p
Chancé goes for back up power.
Chancé preses open blast door A one.
Digifanatic: "Okay. Any suggested power aside from Main Power, cause it didn't work with Chancé."
Deloth: "Emergency power?"
Digifanatic: *exhales* "Perhaps..."
Computer: "Unable to comply. Stream Error 5."
Chancé: "Stream Error?"
Deloth: "Although I wish we could figure out what a Stream Error 5 was first."
Deloth looks over at the blast doors to make sure "Stream Error 5" doesn't mean "Hey, moron, there's a box wedged in the door"...
Chancé presses check status and open blast door A.
Computer: "Main power is on. Security mode is on. Unable to comply. Stream Error 5."
Metal Man (GM): After a few minutes of beeping, the door opens, as the weird glitch in Main power does not exist in Emergency Power mode. It just took a moment for it to register. The way ahead is clear.
Chancé: "Haha."
Deloth: "Yeehaw!" *runs ahead.*
Aribar: "Thank Whaller..." *Retreats forward.*
Chancé follows/
Digifanatic: "Well..." *heads forward.*
Metal Man (GM): The group is now in room 9. This room is actually not much. It's a blatantly open door with a sign saying "Turn back! Much more than your Chances are at stake behind this door! A dork demon awaits!"
Digifanatic: "No offense...but I wonder if that sign is missing an accent."
Deloth: "A dark demon, I'd be scared of. A dork demon..."
Chancé: "We can feed it Digi, it must like puns."
Deloth looks around the room, juuuust in case...
Digifanatic: *peers into Room 10 but does not step in.*
Metal Man (GM): Nothing else odd in the area. Room 10 must be so frightening that they don't need a room 9 of tricks. Heh.
Chancé: "So shall we beat up E Li's dork demon?"
Deloth: *Room 10, then. I ain't afraid of no ghosts, dork demons, or billy goats.*
Aribar waits for the others to proceed into Room 9...* "There's got to be something wrong.."
Chancé follows.
Digifanatic: *might as well go.*
Dragoshi: *Follows along. Yep.*
Metal Man (GM): The group enters into it...
Aribar tip-toes after the others.*
Metal Man (GM): The group wanders into an exceptionally large room, where all manner of traps are laying around... unused. The group sees their items standing under spotlights, but otherwise surrounded by darkness. It's strangely cool in this room.
Deloth: "..."
Chancé: ".. Lets not go for the drama of doom as we slowly approach the items."
Chancé claps his hands.
Deloth: "Yeah..." *glances at those traps.*
Aribar: "I feel the urge to cast some magic at the darkness..."
Metal Man (GM): Chancé claps his hands. But he do not see anything turn on. Instead... *SMASH* A fist, a white-gloved fist, breaks through the floor. It looks tattered and old. It has an L on it.
Aribar: "Gah!" *The elf jumps back a step.*
Deloth: "...An L?"
Chancé: "... Yep, a dork, the old cliché of wall breaking.."
Digifanatic: *Is that L green or yellow-and-upside-down?*
Metal Man (GM): It thrashes about, albeit rather harmless right now. It's hard to see in the dark. Whoever it is is still mostly stuck under the floor.
Aribar: "... I do believe that's a relative of Master and Crazy Hand."
Deloth: "Wish I had brought a flashlight... although..."
Metal Man (GM): It's a normal human-sized hand.
Deloth: "Would any of you happen to have something I could set on fire?"
Aribar: "Clothing, bags, spell components..."
Deloth takes out that vial of oil from last mission and considers going Molotov on that hand...
Aribar: "Why?"
Deloth: "I might be able to give us a little illumination with this." *holds out the oil.*
Digifanatic: "Well, I could Fire Punch something and it may work...or a Grenade."
Chancé: "Hello, are you stuck down there?"
Digifanatic: "But I don't think you actually want something to blow up."
???: "MMPH MPPH!!!!" The hand thrashes violently.
Metal Man (GM): Perhaps the group needs to give it a hand. Or perhaps they don't.
Deloth: "..."
Digifanatic: "Hmm...Scan it?"
Deloth: "Let's see, am I on my good karma cycle or my bad karma cycle..."
Aribar: *Make it so, Number One! Er... That is, Aribar scans it with his Dex.*
Dex: "Unknown hand detected. Too dark to determine origin. It is stuck between two floor posts."
Deloth: "I have a bit of an idea..."
Chancé starts pulling out random potions.
Deloth kneels down, holding the vial of oil, and rolls it down into the spotlights around the group's items.
Chancé: "Nope.. Grr, where is it? This is just silly..."
Metal Man (GM): It rolls into the spotlights. Lightning blows it up the minute it enters the spotlight.
Chancé: "Oh, you have oil.."
Metal Man (GM): No fire remains, so Deloth still can't tell what that hand is up to.
Deloth: "Not any more..."
???: "NNNN... DNNNNNN... OOOOOO... ATTTTTTT!!!" The hand spins around some.
Metal Man (GM): Not inhumanly, but it does move around.
Chancé attempts to save the hand?
Metal Man (GM): Chancé grabs the hand and pull a little. Chancé pulls out a thoroughly dust-caked and damaged... Waluigi.
Aribar tries to conjure up some light to see what's going on.*
Chancé: "Hello?"
Deloth: "What the... Why are YOU here?!"
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Digifanatic: "I had a feeling..."
Aribar: "... ohpiffle."
Deloth: "Shouldn't you be with Wario robbing a candy store or something?"
Waluigi: "Wa-ha! After 30 years I am free at last!!!!"
Chancé lets Waluigi stand up away from the hole.
Digifanatic: "Wait. 30 years?"
Chancé: "How did you end up stuck there?"
Waluigi: "That evil Charles Magellean may have trapped me under the floor with his Boot attack, but now I can return to spread evil to the world!!!!"
Chancé: "Or you can just spend time with Wario."
Dragoshi: "...You've been there..."
Waluigi: "Starting with..." He looks at you guys. "You! Because you are... ... ...A bunch of losers! Whatever you are!"
Dragoshi: "For 30 years?"
Waluigi: "Waluigi time!!!"
Dragoshi: "...Wow. What the heck did you live off of?"
Chancé: "Don't make me push you back into that hole."
Metal Man (GM): He leaps into the air and in front of the items, which are encapsulated in spheres and circle around Waluigi.
Aribar: "No thanks, we're... Perfectly fine with out currently state of evil.."
Waluigi: "You broke the enchantment by helping me. E Li Three said as long as nobody wanted to help me, I'd NEVER get free! And it was a very non-Waluigi 30 years because of that! But then you dropped your prejudices and helped me... like the idiots you are! Ehehehehehe! Waluigi number one!!!"
Deloth looks over at all those inactive traps, looking for something to hit Waluigi in the ol' breadbasket with...
Metal Man (GM): You see things like bear traps and cakes laying around.
Chancé: "I bet E Li is cursing the fact that he just did not write "Do not help the hand --Mngmt.""
Deloth: *...Cakes?*
Dragoshi: "Or maybe he's laughing."
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi finally stops speaking and then glows. He gains new body armor, to which the items and wagered coins combine into.
Waluigi: "Take a look at this! I spent thirty years designing..."
Metal Man (GM): *VOOSH* He's now in shiny black armor.
Chancé: "Black?"
Deloth casually starts sidestepping over to the traps...
Chancé: "Why not purple?"
Waluigi: "THE UBER ARMOR!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): It shines black, gaining several Waluigi logos on it. He cracks his fists and walks towards you.
Deloth: *Reaches over, grabs a bear trap, starts opening it...*
Aribar: "... Uh... Maybe we can talk this over?"
Waluigi: "You could have just gotten your items, but now, I'll take your chances and your items, because I'm-a Waluigi number wannnn!!! Wahahahahahahahaa!!!"
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi slips on a cake and falls on his back.
Waluigi: "Gah! My arch enemy strikes again!"
Dragoshi: "...Cake is your arch-enemy?"
Waluigi: "Of course not! I'd never tell you my real weakness!"
Dragoshi: "Well, you said it was your arch enemy, therefore..."
Metal Man (GM): A weird little RPG like thing pops up. Instead of HP, this battle is based on how many chances you have.
Chancé: "Wonderful."
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi himself has a gauge, but it's covered by a strange piece of armor. Apparently, his armor protects that too! Chancé and Deloth's turns. Waluigi stands back up.
Deloth: *Well, got it in my hand, so... let's toss that trap at Waluigi's big fat head and see how it goes.*
Chancé grabs a random potion...
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi is now in a serious combat stance. No more blabbering.
Chancé tosses the (Insanity Potion - Creates a massive prismatic explosion. Deals damage and confuses enemy) at Waluigi!
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi swings his arm at it like a tennis racket. It flies back at Deloth.
Waluigi: "Frwaahahahah!" He sees the incoming potion... "Nrrwaaah!" He sends it flying back at Chancé with a bit of topspin.
Chancé quickly tries to counter the counter with the mirror!
Deloth: *Go figure. Bomb Kick the trap away!*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth attempts to parry and is instead bitten on the face by the trap. - .5 of a chance, Deloth. *BONK* What kind of potion was it?
Deloth: "I hate you..."
Metal Man (GM): Chancé takes no damage. Instead, he goes insane. As per the potion effects.
Chancé: "The sky is a shade of CHAOS VEGETABLE ARE GODS."
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi awaits more ranged projectiles to be thrown at him.
Aribar: "I don't like this..."
Metal Man (GM): This is a puzzle boss. Technically only bad solutions can harm you.
Chancé: "Cake is squishy!"
Metal Man (GM): Note that his armor covers his body but not his face, and he has his hands up near his face in tennis mode.
Digifanatic is in a difficult situation... he's got melee range attacks... but they're freaking weak! Might as well try something else... he grabs a cake, runs in, and throws it at Waluigi up close. Hey, Waluigi hasn't taken any damage so it can't heal him!
Aribar cautiously approaches Waluigi. He conjures up a whirlwind of blades and attempts to disarm Waluigi of any means of harming them! He tries to cut up Waluigi's tennis racket.*
Metal Man (GM): Whirlwind of blades... In the background, yes. Hit. His tennis racket takes no damage. He is knocked quite a bit back, however.
Waluigi: "How dare you! No one can harm me! I am unstoppable!"
Metal Man (GM): He is hit in the face by the cake.
Waluigi: "Mmmph mph mpppph!!!" He cannot see.
Aribar attempts to ram into Waluigi and send him into that light! ... He tries to dive to the side or bounce backwards if he misses.*
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi cannot see Aribar. He swings at air. Then is knocked into the light. *BZBZBTZBTBZTBZTBZTBZT.* The cake is fried. He is zapped. He gets up, and walks back, smoking. His moustache is now messed up looking.
Waluigi: "Why you... I'll get you!!!"
Metal Man (GM): He makes menacing noises.
Aribar tries to look at Waluigi's gauge now...*
Metal Man (GM): The gauge has a small hairline crack in it.
Digifanatic: *Actually, hold that thought.* *Nope, he's pausing while he's safe.*
Dragoshi: *So, anyway, Dragoshi decides to go and walk up to Waluigi, and try to grab him with his tail! Emphasis on try here...*
Metal Man (GM): The angry Waluigi attempts to deflect... And fails.
Dragoshi: *And, low and behold, Waluigi was choked, then repeatedly slammed into the ground. More, specifically, the part of the ground that has bear traps and cakes. >_>*
Metal Man (GM): The damage bounces off the armor. The bear traps and cakes hit the armor, and do no damage. Waluigi says nothing as he gets up, wiping cakes and knocking bear traps off his armor. Which, as you can tell, is pretty dang invincible. Apparently you must pinpoint your damage, and the armor is... seemingly, not a good place to start. It covers his legs. As I said, it does not cover his feet or head. It is a very shiny metal.
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi, seeing this, decides to try and trip the guy, and give him a spinkick to the feet! >_>*
Metal Man (GM): He attempts to dodge the attack and is knocked on his back. His feet take minimal damage. Another, somewhat smaller, hairline crack appears on his armor gauge. He spins up a tennis ball and fires a red-hot serve at Dragoshi's head.
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi tries to duck under the tennis ball of fire death, ono!*
Metal Man (GM): It misses harmlessly. Waluigi makes his 'Angry' pose.
Digifanatic, still relatively close, decides to launch a Hyper Beam Matrix at Waluigi's head.
Metal Man (GM): As it fails, you don't even make a Hyper Beam. Nothing for Waluigi to hit.
Aribar looks... How many tarps near Wa's feet, Mr. Ackbar?*
Metal Man (GM): None right near his feet. Several to the left and right of them.
Aribar rushes over to Waluigi, the elf lining up with the traps and Wa, and tries to conjure up a powerful blast of wind up lift the tennis player into the air, then holds out his hand and unleashes a blast of magical energy, attempting to force Waluigi onto the tarps! Er, traps!*
Metal Man (GM): He is unable to break through Aribar's attacks. Waluigi is pushed up into the air and lands, feet first, on a bear trap and a cake. He falls down and is bitten by the trap. His armor gauge develops several more cracks in it. His face turns red. He looks pretty angry now, as he slides his way back to the center.
Waluigi: "Grrrr!!!!"
Chancé: "Weee, me pull out a potion!"
Deloth starts charging up...
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is charging, while Chancé is crazily pulling out a potion.
Chancé: "Ooh I should! Toss it at the crazy man!"
Chancé tosses it at Waluigi.
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi's face is hit.
Chancé: "JAMAICA!"
Metal Man (GM): The insanity potion hits Waluigi. ERROR: Waluigi is already insane. However, the explosion cracks his armor a lot. He's now... insane, in a way. The psychotic kind.
Chancé: "Ah, I can speak again, I hope there are no side eff--kitty, yes you are--ts."
Waluigi: "Waluigi KILL Questers! Ahahahahaaa!!!"
Deloth takes advantage of this to hopefully smash Waluigi's skull with a Wing Slam!
Metal Man (GM): Think the movie: Psycho. He is smacked again. His armor is critical.
Deloth: *KRRNCH.*
Metal Man (GM): He's now in hyper-active mode, he may be hard to hit.
Dragoshi: *And, then Dragoshi readies his mighty K7 Annihilator, and aims it at Waluigi, firing one shot to the head, and another to the feet, hoping to use the deadly force of the blasts to send Waluigi headfirst into MOAR TRAPS.*
Metal Man (GM): He is hit repeatedly, and knocked backwards. He is then zapped repeatedly. He then falls into the last of the cakes and traps. He gets up, shaking wildly. He uppercuts a light, blowing it to pieces, even at the expense of his own energy.
Waluigi: "You... cannot... defeat... WALUIGIIII!!!!!"
Dragoshi: *And his gauge still hasn't been destroyed? Wow. How cracked is it, anyway?*
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi does his deadliest move ever, taking off his Sunglasses and strafing everyone with EYE LASERS!!!!
Waluigi: "FEEL THE SUNSHINE OF MY EYES! AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"
Aribar ... Ducks!*
Chancé pulls out his mirror~.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar leaps out of the way at the last moment.
Deloth does a limbo bend backwards to dodge! Whee, style!
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi tries to get away from the freakin' eyelazers! Thank god Waluigi isn't part deer. e_e.*
Metal Man (GM): Waluigi promptly grasps his chest, as his armor explodes.
Waluigi: "I'll get you for this, someday! But not today... I require a better set of equipment to take on freaks like YOU! Ahahahahahaaa!!!" He then spins around and does a serve leap with his tennis racket (the only remaining piece of his outfit) and flies away.
Deloth: "Well, that finishes that, I suppose."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Chancé: "Well that was... interesting.."
Aribar: "... That was... Yeah."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers' items are on the ground. Waluigi destroyed all the traps.
Deloth grabs his items.
Metal Man (GM): The lights turn on. It reveals... you're back in the main room after all!
Chancé picks up his items... Hmm, where is that back up part..?
Metal Man (GM): The payoffs go as such: Deloth obtains... 10 grenades!
Deloth: "...Wow."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi obtains... Some holy candy, indeed, for he gets a single Phoenix down. Aribar gets a shiny blue hilted sword styled to his liking.
Dragoshi: *Puts the Phoenix down away, happy with his win.*
Metal Man (GM): Chancé obtains 8 Megavitamins in place of his candy.
Chancé: "Bleh... The candy was better."
Chancé plans to sell them.
Dragoshi: "...I still have one last candy if you still need to research them?"
Chancé: "Hmm, yes, if you want to give it up that is."
Deloth stares enviously at Ari's prize. "Mind if I borrow that?"
Aribar picks up the sword, looking it over.* "Ah... Ganondorf, this blade shall be your downfall! Which reminds me..." *Hands Lucent 6 Mushrooms.* "Thank you for earlier."
Chancé: "Thank you."
Aribar: "Eh? Borrow it?"
Deloth: "Uh-huh..."
E Li Three: "Ah, yes, but you forget the final thing you earned!" The new reality-fixing device appears.
Metal Man (GM): It is fully functional.
Deloth: "Sweet!"
Chancé: "Woo~ Now it can be repaired."
E Li Three: "And even though the person who wanted it didn't succeed, I'll throw in this as a bonus for beating that dreadful Waluigi..."
Aribar: "You may borrow it while on mission, sure... But when we go after Ganondorf, it shall be at my side." *Turns to E Li Three.*
Dragoshi: *Looks at E Li, head tilted to the side.*
E Li Three: "Eggman is alive, but he is hiding so cleverly even I cannot find him. He will make himself known, however, when the time comes. According to my sources." He hands you guys the Eggman locater, which says the exact same thing. "That thing shall beep loudly to make his location known, when he becomes... findable."
Dragoshi: *Takes it, and puts it away* "Thank you. I'll also be sure to note that."
Chancé: "Ah... Also, E Li Three, do you have a newsletter?"
Dragoshi: *Pulls out his old notepad and starts writing it down.*
Chancé: "I would like to subscribe to paper, or by Dex Mail..."
E Li Three: "Yes... yes. You can subscribe to a newsletter I make." He waves his hand over Chancé's dex. "It shows what's up in my world... which reminds me..." He spins a finger. "Bad things are going to happen soon, according to my Happy Fun Eight Ball!"
Chancé: "May I see the happy fun 8 ball?"
Dragoshi: "Like, bad stuff related to Ganondorf?"
E Li Three: "You mean this?" He takes out a very sinisterly smiling 8-ball.
Metal Man (GM): It has 'Uncertain Danger approaching' as its little note thingy currently.
Chancé: "Hmm... interesting."
Aribar takes seven steps back from the 8-ball...
Metal Man (GM): The 8-ball... it stares at Aribar, licking its chops.
E Li Three: "Do not taunt happy fun eight ball."
Deloth glares at the 8-ball. "Don't even THINK about it, bub."
Metal Man (GM): The Eight ball shoots lasers at Deloth.
E Li Three: "What did I just say?"
Metal Man (GM): *ZAP* Deloth takes damage.
Chancé: "Wow... Future Forecasts and death lazers."
Deloth: *KZZZT.*
E Li Three: "Yes. It has it all. It's also how I survived the Kuja days. All his men taunted me, and then they were death lasered."
Deloth: *coughs* "See, this is why I hate Ouija boards, too."
Dragoshi: "I see."
E Li Three: "It has intelligence, though. It won't kill people whom it deems unknowing of its true powers."
Metal Man (GM): He pockets it before it lasers anyone else.
Aribar blinks..* "So... If you are still alive, that means..."
Chancé: "Ah, so it's like a villain from that "Final Legend" games."
Dragoshi: "Apparently." :/
E Li Three: "I am always still alive. Especially while others are dying! For there is madness to do!" He dances around.
Chancé: "What is your motto E Li Three?"
E Li Three: "My motto? Hiding Your Important Objects Since 388 BC!"
Chancé: "B.C.E?"
E Li Three: "I found that date on the bottom of a can of tennis balls. I wish I knew what it meant."
Metal Man (GM): He hurls a blue rose to the ground and a warp appears.
Deloth: "So, uh... ready to go?"
Chancé: "Nice."
Deloth: "This DOES go back to HQ, right?"
Chancé warps.
E Li Three: "Of course! I ran out of X-zone ones a year ago."
Dragoshi: "...A blue rose? What is this, Plasma -?" *Snrks, then heads back to HQ. >_>*
E Li Three: "Also, don't forget to take this." He pushes the floating device into the warp. "There you go."
Deloth nods and heads into the warp... hallelujah, the tests of doom are over! And I won this time!
Metal Man (GM): Mission Complete.
