Super Smash Quest - Story - Chapter 501: The Island of Why
Date: February 18th, 2008.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are at HQ. In specific, Dragoshi is hooked up to a computer, in which the strange disc is spinning over and over again. Only he can read the strange text. It is the find of the century, but there is limited time.
Halbardeer watches the disc spin fascinated. "It just keeps turning and turning."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers would be gathered around, naturally, to see what of the old technology is rediscovered.
Dragoshi is in a state of tiredness.
King Demon walks in "Hey... What's going on?"
Metal Man: "So then, Dragoshi, are you ready? Once you begin reading this may take a while."
Metal Man turns to Demon.
Halbardeer: "Dragoshi got hypnotized by a spinning disk and we're watching!"
Metal Man: "We are decoding an old disc containing many old Void-era things. Using Dragoshi as a translator we can figure out what's on there. Anyway. I won't start until Dragoshi is fully ready."
King Demon looks at Hal. "Sounds like fun!" turns to Metal "Uh, yours not so much..."
Aiden's image begins to phase in against and with a very subtle current of electricity. Aiden reappears before everyone...
Dragoshi: *Somewhat less tiredly than before* "Yes. Though, let's be quick about it-" *Yawn* "Metal. I don't want to become too far gone by the bit of corruption I've recently acquired."
Metal Man: "It won't eat you that long. The records indicate that man who died had been corrupted for over a week."
Deloth: "That reminds me, does the X-zone cause long-lasting detrimental effects?"
Metal Man: "Of course, for all we know he could have been a former supersoldier, granting him endurance in excess of 3 or 4 Questers... Not unless you practically live in there."
King Demon: "Corrupted? Phazon?"
Halbardeer: "We went to a funky place where everyone split and because some girly man ghost wizard told us to go there."
Metal Man: "Not Phazon." *He chuckles.* "Ancient knowledge."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Metal Man: "Now, we begin." *Flip* The machine glows. Apparently, recording everything noticed. Dragoshi alone would see the weird text and understand it. He has access to a strange mental link of sorts...
Dragoshi: *Well, let's see what we got here...*
King Demon: "Oh... Corrupted with ancient knowledge is a bad thing?" *shrugs and sits down to watch* "NOW it's getting interesting!"
Metal Man: "It's a bit more knowledge than our brains can take."
Digifanatic: *intently watches* "Let's watch and see what we get."
King Demon: "If Drag be comes a vegetable, I get his quarters!"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi stares at the screen.
Metal Man: "Unlikely. It would only get to that point if we waited weeks before removing it."
King Demon: "Ah... nevermind then..."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi selects a weird rune. Another weird, unrecognizable list appears.
King Demon suddenly wishes he'd put more into ancient writings...
Videospirit: "Dragoshi, you okay in there?"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi is picking through the list.
Metal Man: "He's sort of in a trance to read this. I don't think he can hear you. Or cares to hear you."
SIMBER: "Currently he is looking through some strange section with a lot of items. I won't tax his mind by translating it yet, he must make another selection first."
King Demon starts tossing around a ball he'd brought with him for some dumb reason.
Metal Man (GM): Information streams onto a translation screen.
Aiden appears to be taking notes of this occurrence.
Metal Man (GM): Dark an ancient magical runes are shown. They form a weird circle, around a weird staff object. A strange voice speaks, now translated from the disk.
???: "Those of Kuja's realm discovered a dark magic which may revive anything from the dead."
Halbardeer looks at Aiden. "Hey, haven't seen you around before."
???: "These runes use the great power of evil to rip one from the afterlife and bring them back. It is at a cost, though; the soul of the caster shall become weaker."
SIMBER: "Information translated and stored. Anyone crazy enough amongst us to use that information can use it... I don't know if it's useful yet, though."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi feels weaker.
King Demon: "Man, I could DEFINITELY use THAT power!"
King Demon wonders if he has a soul...
SIMBER: "This spell, according to the runes, basically can revive any dead being whom is not an elemental. Hence handily making it impossible to revive The Void or anything else nasty like him. Thankfully."
King Demon: "Oh... ok..."
SIMBER: "It appears to require the target to be fairly pure."
Digifanatic: "Yeah...but what were some of our other enemies that weren't elementals?"
SIMBER: "But it's useful, I guess. If anyone wants to shorten their life to save another's."
King Demon: "Pure!? Bah..."
SIMBER: "He surely must be tired, as he is taking his time picking another one..."
Aiden looks to Hal. "Time knight's work is never ending. It keeps me busy."
Metal Man: "While he does that." *He faces the other Questers.* "We shall be tasked with taking him to that 'temple' the others spoke of. So that the knowledge can be removed before he goes totally nuts. James McCloud got us a nice set of ships to go there with, too."
King Demon: "Oh, great... Wait, what?"
Metal Man: "The ancient knowledge in Dragoshi's mind can only be removed by the thing which originally cursed people with it."
King Demon: "Oh... ok..."
Metal Man: "Apparently that lurks inside a temple inside the Y-zone... which means some flying. Because the Y-zone has no real ground. And the temple is likely to be floating inside there."
King Demon: "Why does that sound like it's gonna be MUCH harder than it sounds?"
Metal Man: "Because it probably is." *He smiles* "Things have a way of doing that."
Digifanatic: "And because you probably just said that, Demon."
Metal Man: "It's the temple that worries me. If it contained this, it probably had a good guard against intrusion."
King Demon shrugs. "It's a talent!"
Halbardeer: "So uh... who's flying us in?"
King Demon: "It begs the question though, how'd Drag get the info in the first place?"
Aiden: "Hmmm."
Metal Man: "Don't any of you know how to fly?"
Digifanatic: "Not very well..."
Halbardeer: "Well... I crashed an arwing once..."
Metal Man: "It's just a straight in flight. Reports indicate the area is eerily empty."
Metal Man (GM): The computer shows some weird corrupted runes. Dragoshi stares at them closely.
King Demon: "Fly yes, land, no..."
Metal Man: "Heh. These new ships are special."
Aiden: "I can attempt to fly us."
Metal Man: "They may be able to help you."
King Demon: "I can do it, probably!"
Aiden: "How so?" (In regard to the ships.)
Metal Man: "They have some degree of autopilot. Remember, we stole some ship from Innotek. The Cornerians have properly finished whatever that ship was supposed to be and made copies."
King Demon: "All right, lets get flyin!"
Metal Man: "We have to wait for Dragoshi to finish here."
King Demon: "Oh..."
Halbardeer: "I take it I shouldn't poke him than?"
Metal Man (GM): Images appear. Magitek is displayed on the screen. Then a bunch of weird chemical symbols are shown.
King Demon: "Right..."
SIMBER: "The truth about Magitek???"
King Demon: "Sweet!"
???: "Magitek is the latest in weaponry made by the Gehstahl empire, with the help of Kefka. It was badly corrupted by The Void's influence, but at heart everything made with Magitek is really just a futuristic device. The Magitek therefore was just a name to hide the truth, as if people knew it they'd have been able to reverse-engineer it to kill The Void easily. Here are some simple translations of common Magitek devices."
Metal Man (GM): They show an image of the Magitek shield. "Improved Force Field with Magical power source." It shows the power source of Kuja's ships.
Metal Man: "Cold Fusion reactor."
Metal Man (GM): It shows, most importantly, the dizzying array of weapons.
Digifanatic: "Huh..."
Metal Man: "Laser Pistol Magic Staff Crystal Knife Vorpal Sword--" etc. etc. etc.
???: "The cloak is gone and unfortunately it destroyed most of these with it. But now without the cloak you are free to build these lookalikes."
Aiden: "We've suspected as much for a long time." *Aiden is inputting translated information into a little digital pad on his arm.*
???: "Of course, you may have some already."
SIMBER: "The Truth about Magitek... has been archived."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi looks weaker.
Deloth: "What the heck is a vorpal sword--hey, Drago, are you okay?"
Digifanatic: *looks at Dragoshi* "Are you okay?"
Halbardeer: "Maybe we should get Dragoshi something to eat... he looks kind of dead."
Metal Man: "Food will not repair the damage. Removing the information will. But we have so little information... we need more."
Halbardeer: "Well... we can use this revive thingy to bring him back if he dies before we get all the information out I guess."
Digifanatic: "True."
Aiden: "I wouldn't advise that.."
King Demon: "Can we? What good will it do if the information kills him again?"
Metal Man: "That's an insane idea... ..but who'd sacrifice part of their soul to do it?"
Halbardeer: "I dunno... How much is part of a person's soul? I mean... I don't think you can halve souls and such..."
Metal Man: "Technically mine isn't so good thanks to all the weird attachments there are to my body."
Deloth: "Uh... I would."
Metal Man: "Well, generally the so-called Soul loss limits your magical powers and causes you to lose part of your personality."
Halbardeer: "Well I've not exactly got any magical powers to boast of myself, which is probably why I wouldn't be able to do it anyway. Not sure what affect a loss of personality would have though..."
Digifanatic: "Not it. I'm too nice of a person to just turn apathetic and cold..."
Metal Man: "Or vegetative."
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi stands there. Metal Man stares.
Digifanatic: "That too."
Metal Man: "Hm. He seems to be getting worse. It may have been in vain. He seems to be losing his mind."
Digifanatic: "We've got to get him to the temple...regardless of how difficult it is."
SIMBER: "Weird choices... I wonder how much it's effecting his mind."
King Demon: "We do... we can always have someone else download the information..."
???: "Permanent preservation techniques..."
Metal Man (GM): It shows some very simple but hard to think of magic spells.
Halbardeer holds a gauntlet up to Dragoshi. "How many fingers am I holding up Dragoshi?"
???: "These are used to prevent rot, rust, food deterioration, and such. They are simple spells, easily cast. Discovered by accident by a man trying to turn carrots into gold."
Digifanatic: "That's fine but we need to know about more serious matters."
King Demon: "Oh, Alchemy gone wrong!"
Halbardeer: "Could you use those spells to make Dragoshi... not uh... die or whatnot?"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi stares at Hal's hand without saying much.
SIMBER: "The preservation one only works on inorganic objects. The revival one requires someone to sacrifice a chunk of their soul."
Halbardeer: "Than how'd it work on a carrot?"
Aiden: "He seems to be suffering from an Akashic Field like... ailment. We really should do something soon."
SIMBER: "It didn't. The table it was on, however, apparently never rotted despite being left outside for 50 years and being made of wood."
Halbardeer: "So uh... Dragoshi looks kind of dead already... Is that just a side effect of whatever got him sick or is that sign he's kind of dead?"
Digifanatic: "I think he--it's the latter."
Metal Man: "Probably both."
SIMBER: "Heart rate is slowing. I think it may be best to only let him get one more piece. As much as many of these are disappointing and simple..."
Halbardeer: Why is it that only he can uh... "Decode" this thing anyway?
Metal Man: "We already went over that. The decoder can be put into machine form, however then Kuja would have it. Kuja apparently could use this disk to give himself a proper body... which would mean the Kuja wars returning... So we had to switch for this one. Dangerous. Limited. Weak. But the only way to get anything at all."
King Demon: "AGAIN!?"
Halbardeer: "We can't just... decode it real quick like and than get rid of it without telling that ghostly guy about it?"
Aiden puts his hand on his forehead "Which would be bad. Do you have any -idea- the level of temporal devastation that caused. HQ is -still- recovering from the paperwork."
Metal Man: "Kuja is an incredibly powerful being. His body, his mind, and most of is soul was obliterated over three times. His ghost continues to survive nevertheless, he would find out too quickly. Basically, we can't decode all the disk even if we could. That'd be enough for him to revive himself. There's too many forbidden secrets. Put together, he'd probably be able to revive what happened and then some."
Halbardeer: "Maybe that first revive thing is all he needs, and we already decoded that. Although it doesn't sound like it would work on this Kuja guy, so maybe he only hopes it will help him."
Metal Man: "He doesn't have enough of a soul left to use it on his dead commanders, who many of which were fake. And any body given to him is disintegrated. I bet there's some other spells or technology to counter it on that disk somewhere. That's what he'd need."
Halbardeer: "So he'd need like, a body that can't be disintegrated?"
Metal Man: "Yes. Something that could grant him access to those weird alloys we couldn't destroy either."
Halbardeer: "What do we need from this disk anyway?"
Metal Man: "Primarily? Ship stuff. Innotek's got us beat there. But it's too late to tell Dragoshi... unless he's still able to listen."
Deloth: "I'll still help him, y'know."
Metal Man: "The Cold Fusion reactor bit was a bit of a slap to the face; we can't hope to replicate that. Even if we had stolen the original one. The labor involved must have been immense, and we blew up all traces of Kuja's R&D..."
Halbardeer looks at Dragoshi and makes flapping motions. "Arwings Dragoshi! We need things like arwings!"
SIMBER: "You are too late. He has selected... X-zone technology.
???: "The X-zone is powered primarily by telekinetic energy. Stones and unrelated bits of energy with some extradimensional stuff thrown in. It floats around and eventually together, creating the various effects seen within."
King Demon sighs and waits semi-patiently to go flying.
???: "The true X-zone is merely an inter-galaxy space, and the technology within of ancient Lylat heritage. The Void stole it like the rest. Therefore, it is easily usable..."
Metal Man (GM): It shows images of telekinesis generators and such. It also shows various patterns on their locks and their designs.
???: "Similar technology floats in the void that is the Y-zone."
Aiden does some more updating of his log.
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi would then collapse after this, the information too much for him to further translate.
Digifanatic: "Now, what is the main difference between the X-Zone and the Y-Zone? On second thought...don't."
SIMBER: "According to this, a different but contemporaneous civilization inhabited the Y-zone. Or, created it. Who knows."
Halbardeer: "Does that mean there's a Z zone too?"
SIMBER: "This information will be... sort of helpful... but..."
Metal Man (GM): SIMBER glares at Metal.
Dragoshi: *Collapses*
SIMBER: "Expecting a purple disk to solve all our problems was silly. Especially since it came from THE VOID."
Deloth walks over and tries to help Drago to his feet again.
Metal Man (GM): Out cold. Coma-like state.
Metal Man: "Well, it was worth a try. Now gang, time to go. Get Dragoshi and get moving, quick."
Halbardeer: "Is he breathing on his own?"
Metal Man: "He's got about a week but we need him back up."
King Demon runs to the hangar and jumps in the pilot's seat.
Metal Man: "Er, yes. Go to the hangar."
Metal Man (GM): Demon would find himself inside a sleek all-black fighter.
Halbardeer follows after King Demon.
Metal Man (GM): It's square-shaped with tiny little angular bent-curved wings.
Deloth grabs Drago in a fireman's carry and heads for the hangar.
Metal Man: "Deloth. You can handle Dragoshi."
Metal Man (GM): The black ship is large enough for all of you. It's rather roomy.
Digifanatic follows in to wherever in the ship.
Metal Man (GM): There's two control seats; one for weapons, one for piloting. Demon's in the pilot seat. The weapons requires decent piloting to use too.
King Demon: "Woo hoo, this is gonna be fun!"
Metal Man (GM): Professor Oak wanders over, staring at the ship.
Oak: "I managed to get a manual on the ship. Let me tell you a bit about it before you leave."
King Demon begins powering up the ship, getting it ready for takeoff.
Oak: "It seats up to 12 people in the passenger section, possesses two control seats; one for weapons, one for piloting. It has an auto-land feature. You just need to point out a location to it by pressing the red button and then touching a part on the windshield where you want it to land. It can hover nearly indefinitely and has decent shields, but turns slowly and is nigh-useless in the atmosphere of a planet. It has a high top speed but is slow to stop, and durable."
Halbardeer: "If only Dragoshi was conscious or Julian was here, they're great pilots!"
Deloth: *grunting* "Swell. Where can I put Dragoshi without him being thrown around?"
Oak: "It has ejection seats for everyone aboard. It's a bit weak in the camping aspect. No real room for gear, and no real space for food. You should hope to get back. With that in mind, wait a sec for us to test the ship's systems, and off you go."
SIMBER: "Ship scan initiated..."
Metal Man (GM): The hangar begins to open.
Aiden: "I'll take the weapons seat then."
Deloth puts Dragoshi's body into a seat and buckles him up, then grabs a seat himself.
Halbardeer straps myself in... barely.
Digifanatic: *straps in*
King Demon straps in and gets ready to go.
SIMBER: "System scan complete. You are clear for launch."
Metal Man (GM): *WHOOSH* It takes off. And boy does it ever take off.
Aiden is on board with weapon systems online though he isn't expecting trouble.
Metal Man (GM): It flies into the air smoothly.
King Demon: "Man, I have GOT to get me one of these!"
Metal Man (GM): A portal appears. SIMBER speaks through the comms.
SIMBER: "Since you need to fly into the Lylat galaxy, here's a portal."
King Demon: "Oh, yeah, thanks!"
SIMBER: "You don't need to change your course to enter it."
Metal Man (GM): WARP! You're now in the Y-zone, flying towards a giant island of sorts in the distance. It's a smooth ride, even though the sky and all is like you're inside a giant blue-ish tube. As you approach the island, you begin to make out small sub-buildings. It looks ancient and cracked.
King Demon: "Well..."
Metal Man (GM): You get a strange Comms message.
???: "That which is nothing will consume all who approach without an open mind."
Metal Man (GM): It's a bizarre thing, like a glitched voice. What do you do?
Halbardeer: "I think I've got a fairly open mind! What about the rest of you?"
Deloth: "Keep going..."
Aiden: "Continue forward. But expect the unexpected." .oO(Or the expected in this case..)
King Demon: "Sounds like a challenge... want to take it?"
King Demon shrugs and pushes forward on course.
???: "The chosen one is angry."
Metal Man (GM): You hear strange alarms coming from the city.
Digifanatic: "I feel good. Oh wait..."
Metal Man (GM): Suddenly, two blue ships fly out. They're fighters of some sort!!! They're coming in fast.
Aiden: "I've got fighters two of them. There coming at combat speed."
Halbardeer: "I guess there's no talking about this! We going to fight them or try and run our way inside?"
Aiden: "Please keep in mind where in a ship. We cant just run along inside..."
Halbardeer: "We're outnumbered and have no idea of the capabilities of these enemies. I'd recommend retreat or attempting to get inside myself."
Aiden: "We need to make it to a landing point that will allow us to from there safely traverse the area."
King Demon: "Ah great..."
King Demon searches for a landing point.
Metal Man (GM): There's a landing point, it's just inside the base, but the two ships are in the way.
King Demon: "You may need to keep them off of me in the meantime Aiden!"
Halbardeer: "How about where the two blue guys came out of?"
Aiden: "I'm aware."
Metal Man (GM): The two ships came from the landing place, hmm... They reach range and open fire on you.
King Demon: "Ah great..."
Metal Man (GM): One piloting check, Demon.
???: "You will be eliminated."
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM BLAM BLAM* Three lasers rake the shield. Shields are down to 75%.
Aiden with his limited skill tries to lock on to one of the ships and concentrate fire from there.
King Demon tries to lose them in the buildings.
Metal Man (GM): Aiden got a clear shot... ... They made no attempt to dodge. *BLAM* One of them explodes. Demon wasn't quite to the buildings yet.
King Demon: "Nice shooting, tex."
Aiden: "There is one ship remaining."
King Demon: "We may need to blast the ones on the ground, too!"
Halbardeer: "Hmm... maybe they don't overpower us..."
Metal Man (GM): Your ship imperceptibly flies into the buildings and then is now inside the air field where the ships came from. It's a ruined landing strip. 5 ships are on the ground. Do you attack them?
Halbardeer: Are they active with people inside of them?
Aiden opens fire.
Metal Man (GM): Well, you flew between them. *BLAM BLAM* 2 ships explode. 3 turn around and shoot at you.
King Demon: "GAH!"
Metal Man (GM): Demon manages to dodge one shot. The others hit... somewhat. Shields at 65%. They're open to being attacked. Aiden's turn. Strangely, the ships you're fighting have no pilots.
Aiden locks on and opens fire again.
Halbardeer: "I don't suppose the shields will recharge themselves if we manage to take these guys down will they?"
King Demon: "I didn't read the manual that far, sorry..."
Metal Man (GM): Miss. More shots ring out. Only one hit... 60% is now the shield rating.
Halbardeer: "You said this thing has ejector seats right? Can't I hope out and try taking one of these things down? They can't hurt much more than that vile guy did..."
Metal Man (GM): You can land, but the problem is they're strafing at you while on the ground. Any people who get out are likely to be blown to bits.
King Demon: "Great, can you get rid of the ships so we can land?"
Aiden with a calm resolve re-angles his shots and waits until one is in his line of sight. Then starts to fire once more.
Metal Man (GM): More failure. The fourth ship finds you. All four shoot at you. Dragoshi would begin to wake up, hazily.
Halbardeer: "Dragoshi! You're awake! We need you on guns!"
Metal Man (GM): BLAM... only one hit. Demon's piloting is really good. Shields at 55%.
Halbardeer: "I wonder who this chosen one is..."
Dragoshi: *Wakes up in a bit of a haze* "Ugh...Okay, wait a sec." *Slowly gets up, and tries to move over to the weapons seat as quickly as he can, then when he does he attempts to shoot a ship down. Whee.*
King Demon: "I dunno, but I'd love to fly this thing up his..."
Aiden tries to compensate for his previous failures. However he sees Dragoshi awaken and gives him the seat.
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi blows away one of the fighters. Three remaining. They shoot at you again! Another piloting check by Demon.
King Demon: "All right, hey, thanks Drag! Oops..."
Dragoshi: *Mumbles, still a bit hazy...*
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM* Shields now at 30%. Dragoshi is barely awake. Good enough for aiming at slow-moving enemy aircraft which never try to dodge.
Dragoshi: *Mumbles again, and tries to shoot down another ship...While he may not be fully awake...He still has a chance. Whee. Especially against the slowpokes. :p*
Metal Man (GM): Miss! They fire again! They're now slowly chasing you around the landing strip as you fly in circles. The first ship crashes into a wall and dies. *ZOT ZOT ZOT ZOT* Now down to 10%. Alarms are going off like crazy.
Halbardeer looks over the manual now... looking for "Shields."
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi once again attempts to shoot down some ships. Whee.*
Metal Man (GM): It says 'The shields may be recharged if you are parked. Otherwise once broken they will need to be repaired at HQ.' 'For some reason they gain energy from pure electricity.
King Demon sighs.
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* Only one ship left.
King Demon: "Great, I gotta land, I guess..."
Metal Man (GM): That one tries in vain, damaged, to blow up your ship again.
King Demon attempts to dodge shots while he lands.
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* All ships dead. You can land. Yay!
King Demon does so.
King Demon: "Well, that was closer than I thought it'd be..."
Metal Man (GM): Their wreckage is strewn across the area.
Aiden: "A close call." *He looks to Dragoshi watching his physical status.*
???: "I will not let you get away with this."
Dragoshi: "Okay...what'd I miss..."
Halbardeer: "Why not? We just wanna help our friend! We figured you could do that... or can you not hear us?"
Metal Man (GM): No response.
King Demon hits the red button and then points to a cleared out area on the runway.
Metal Man (GM): You land perfectly.
King Demon turns to the others.
King Demon: "Everyone ok back there?"
Dragoshi: "Seriously...what'd I miss?"
Halbardeer: "A man who invented magic while trying to turn carrots to gold!"
King Demon: "Not a lot, we're in Y zone."
Digifanatic: "I'm okay..."
Metal Man (GM): Amongst the wreckage you see a bunch of weird junk hurled around.
Dragoshi: "..."
Aiden hops out.
King Demon begins to inspect the junk after exiting the ship.
Halbardeer: "Is it safe to get out of the ship now?"
Metal Man (GM): It appears to be safe.
Dragoshi: *Gets out.*
Deloth gets out as well.
Halbardeer gets out of the ship and looks around.
Metal Man (GM): Demon finds a nice big looking key next to what looks like a skeleton. There's a big gate to put it in, too.
King Demon grabs the key and points to the skeleton "I thought these things weren't piloted..."
Metal Man (GM): The skeleton isn't from a ship.
Aiden: "I would assume that the omnipresent voice is the being we will encounter here. We should proceed with caution."
Metal Man (GM): It was in the junk pile.
Deloth: "Oh, right..."
Dragoshi: "...I see." *Still a bit hazy, though. He'll stay in the back. :/*
Metal Man (GM): The gate has a big keyhole, and you found a big key rather quickly. How handy.
King Demon looks the key over, then puts it in the hole.
Metal Man (GM): *Click* You can turn it to unlock it.
King Demon does so.
Halbardeer looks at the skeleton. "I guess we weren't the first ones here."
King Demon: "Open says-a-Demon."
Metal Man (GM): The door slowly groans open, unveiling a hallway with a bunch of status of angular robots.
Halbardeer: "It's open sesame! Where'd you get sesademon from?"
King Demon: "It worked, didn't it?"
Halbardeer: "Cause you used a key. Let's go inside."
Metal Man (GM): It's a long hallway, and at the end there's a very thick bulkhead.
Digifanatic: *Is wherever they are, he guesses.*
King Demon sighs "It's never easy..."
Halbardeer chugs along into the hallway looking at the statues closely. "What do you make of those statues dex?"
Dex: "Ancient robots of some sort."
King Demon walks down the hallway as well.
Metal Man (GM): You walk on down.
Halbardeer: "Do they still work dex?"
Metal Man (GM): Then you step on a plate. *CLICK* One of the machines shoots a laser out of its gun at Demon! Roll dodge check, Demon. Demon ducks under it. No further laser-y stuff. At least, as long as nobody steps on that floor tile.
Dex: "They appear to be ornamental traps."
King Demon: "I guess they still work..."
Halbardeer decides this isn't fun... so he charges up to just before that step and jumps, following by a halberd storm to try and clear the room without stepping on any more tiles.
Metal Man (GM): Hal leaps over the remaining statues, and knocks several over with the storm, but they aren't destroyed. This leaves the door. It's a gigantic bulkhead with no visible control panel.
King Demon continues walking down the hallway, being careful not to step on any more tiles hopefully.
Metal Man (GM): Made of heavy steel. So heavy, there's cracks in the floor around it. *CLICK* Demon steps on one, but the statue is knocked over, so it hits the ceiling instead.
Dragoshi: *Follows Demon, making sure not to step on any tiles like that as well. >_>*
Halbardeer tries to poke the floor under the door to make the cracks bigger, and try to knock it over.
King Demon apparently wasn't careful enough.
Aiden: "Apparently there only functional in that manner." Aiden's hand had rested on Durandal ready to attack. But he eased his grip as he watched the reaction. He instead goes to follow in Hal's path with a slower, more cautious pace however.
Metal Man (GM): You poke the floor and more cracks appear. But you're going to need to do more than poke it.
Aiden walks over to Hal "Are you trying to break this down?"
Metal Man (GM): You're all now at the door.
Halbardeer: "Sort of... It looks pretty thick, so I was thinking of breaking the walls around it instead."
Aiden: "I see...one moment.."
Halbardeer pushes on the door just to see if it's hinges are weaker than the door itself.
Metal Man (GM): Nope. No 'hinges', it's a blast door. You push, but the floor does crack more. Maybe if you keep hitting the cracks.
Aiden goes to put his hand on one of this three blades...you see him put his hand on the sheath and then take it off. However in truth Aiden has released a powerful slash so fast it an airborne wave is striking the walls around.
King Demon uses his ground wave on the cracks, wonder if that'd do anything.
Metal Man (GM): The attack on the walls is useless; they are very, very strong. On the other hand, the Ground wave is one too many for the cracks. The door falls through the floor and into the Y-zone.
King Demon: "Boom... oops?"
Dragoshi: "...Well, that works."
Halbardeer looks through the door.
Metal Man (GM): Thus, a step over the hole where it was and you're in a large plaza with a dried up fountain... and facing a leaning tower which is full of cracks.
Aiden: "This place is on the edge of ruin..."
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Dragoshi: "Mhm..."
Digifanatic: "Good thing we don't take permanent residence here."
Metal Man (GM): The leaning tower has an old bent up door, and two statue robots standing beside it. The fountain is all dried up and cracked.
Aiden advances looking around as he walks. Moving toward the biggest structure the tower.
Digifanatic steps over the hole--jumps if he has to--and keeps going, while being wary of the Leaning Tower of Y-Zone.
Metal Man (GM): The tower is the only surviving structure on this part. All the others are mostly shredded, frames, or split in two and emptied.
King Demon goes to the fountain.
Metal Man (GM): There's large blast craters in this plaza, and occasionally you see the outlines of people who were annihilated. Demon sees that there is some compartment in the middle spire of the fountain.
King Demon tries to open the compartment.
Metal Man (GM): It's stuck in there pretty good.
Digifanatic assists if it's of any help.
Metal Man (GM): *YANK* Out comes a bizarre model of power cell.
Aiden walks toward the center between the two robot structures and the tower bent door.
Halbardeer walks up to the two statues and looks at them.
King Demon: "Sweet!"
Metal Man (GM): The tower leans high. It looks to be of somewhat holy importance.
King Demon pockets it for now.
Digifanatic: "Okay...seems safe to scan it, folks?"
Dragoshi: "...huh."
Metal Man (GM): Stuff is written on it, but it's long faded. The tower. The cell also has stuff written on it, but... yeah. It's mundane. '15V Power cell.'
Halbardeer: "Can you read what's written on this tower Dragoshi?"
Metal Man (GM): Ah. The letters look like English to Dragoshi. And he can't read them!
Halbardeer scans the text with dex like he's seen others do so many times before. "Can you make sense of it dex?"
Dragoshi: "..." *Wasn't even going to read them. :/* *Just moseys on along*
Dex: "It's too faded. A bunch of random letters are left."
Metal Man (GM): The front door is the only conceivable way forward. Do you walk up to it?
King Demon walks up to the front door.
Digifanatic: "Well, let's see what some of those letters are."
Halbardeer pokes one of the statues with his halberd.
Aiden is already at the front door.
Digifanatic: "Please."
Metal Man (GM): You walk up to it. The statues come to life and point at you.
Statues: "Turn back or be destroyed."
Halbardeer: "No other options?"
Aiden notices the statues pointing "I assumed as much."
King Demon: "Where's option D?"
Statues: "This is property of -SHKZHT- and therefore you cannot enter. It is too dangerous as well."
Halbardeer: "Anywhere else we can go?"
Aiden: "So your saying you don't want us to proceed for our own protection then?"
Statues: "What do you want from this city of -SHKZHT-?"
Halbardeer: "We need to empty our friend's head, it's got too much stuff in it. We thought we'd give it back to you."
Aiden: "Is it the general whole of creation that asks questions disregarding there questions. Fine fine. Where here to return something."
Metal Man (GM): The statues raise their blasters. Then they hear Aiden.
Statues: "Something was stolen? What was taken?"
Halbardeer: "Knowledge I guess... Kind of a weird story."
Statues: "...Processing. ..."
Metal Man (GM): They stand aside.
Statues: "Ancient knowledge was hidden here by the master. The master has informed us that only he can properly kill you."
Dragoshi: "..." *Mumbles and walks through, nodding* "And, we are here to return it before it's too late for me."
Statues: "You are clear to enter. Knowing that he appears to want you dead." *Turn off*
Metal Man (GM): The door opens and then breaks, shooting sparks.
Dragoshi: "Why am I not surprised."
Halbardeer: "I guess this master fellow isn't too fond of visitors."
Dragoshi: "Or just us."
King Demon: "So what else is new?"
Halbardeer heads through the door and looks through.
Metal Man (GM): You see a wrecked... receptionist's room?
Aiden: "Its only been telling us we would pay since we arrived." Aiden advances inside.
Metal Man (GM): There's stairs up as well.
King Demon enters and looks up the stairs.
Metal Man (GM): They're old and dangerous. You might not be able to use them in their current state.
Halbardeer: "Well, technically it only started saying we'd pay after we blew up it's ships! Before that it just told us to go away! Classic signs of a hermit!"
Metal Man (GM): The room's got a bunch of paper sitting around. Illegible, it's all turned to dust.
King Demon smiles and jumps up to the next floor.
Halbardeer tries to get a hold of the next floor with his ax to pull myself up with grappling hook style.
Aiden chrono bursts to the next floor. To the naked eye it simply appears like he disappeared and moved from point A to point B. B being the second floor.
Metal Man (GM): Hal makes it up. Ocean gets up, thanks to the short distance required.
Digifanatic decides to jump up as well...
Metal Man (GM): Demon gets up... konks himself on the floor, but he gets up... You're up now, and on the second floor there's an old control room. Wait. What's a control room doing in a temple?
King Demon: "Sweet, crap to mess with!"
King Demon enters the room.
Metal Man (GM): The control room has no power.
Halbardeer: "What were fighters and robotic statues doing in a temple. Dex! It's another computer!"
Metal Man (GM): It also has a neat energy-cell shaped slot.
Halbardeer: "I wonder why we don't have computers back home..."
Aiden: "Did someone find something earlier around that size?"
King Demon pulls out the energy cell, shrugs, then puts it in the slot.
Digifanatic takes a look..."Yeah. It's what Demon and I plucked out of the fountain."
Metal Man (GM): *THUNK* *GLOW* *BZTZTZTBZTBZBZBZZZZ* The control room flickers to life. That was more powerful than you thought! The dusty screens begin showing... ... ...
Halbardeer: "Maybe the sparking noises scared people so they never caught on..."
Metal Man (GM): This can't be.
Dragoshi: *what*
King Demon: "Wow, ok... lets see what we got here..."
Metal Man (GM): You're seeing Eisnaught's name on all the pictures of this area. Ivan Robotnik's operating system too. This doesn't seem to be an ancient temple.
Dragoshi: "What the..."
Metal Man (GM): It also shows it's flying between the X-zone and Y-zone at random.
King Demon: "Uh... crap?"
Metal Man (GM): It also shows that upstairs is the main control room.
Halbardeer: "You guys know this Eisnaught fellow?"
Metal Man (GM): It shows that the things you blew up were Eisnaught fighters on autopilot. Somebody or something's running this on autopilot.
King Demon shrugs.
Metal Man (GM): It also shows the size of the place to be much less than the original Eisnaught. Clearly, this is a chunk of it. How it wound up here you don't know.
Digifanatic: "Oh geez...looks like our enemies aren't the only things that have blown up Eisnaught stuff."
King Demon: "We don't need a control room, we need the device that will remove the data from Drag!"
Digifanatic sits down and looks for a help file or something on the computer.
Dex: "The control room, however, has a console like our own. It would likely help us."
Halbardeer tries to remember the commands from before and types in Database and hits enter.
King Demon: "Oh, in that case...
King Demon searches the room for anything that can be useful.
Metal Man (GM): Hal types some things. 'ERROR'... that's not a recognized command. Digi, however, finds the information. This is the navigation room of the place, of course, and used to coordinate ships. And the stairs are just to the left of the control panel... must be pulled down. There's a knob on the ceiling over there. Demon finds the knob.
Digifanatic: "Hang on, Demon..."
Digifanatic decides to slowly let the stairs down.
King Demon reaches for the knob, then pauses.
Metal Man (GM): The stairs open, showing inches and inches of dust. These are usable, though. Do you go up them?
King Demon wonders if they should mess up the navigation area, so it'll be easier to escape.
Digifanatic: "Demon...fool around with the knob first, and then I'll see if I need to manipulate it for us."
Aiden walks toward the staircase waiting for everyone else.
King Demon pulls the power to the room.
Metal Man (GM): The room darkens. You see a dim light from the room above. You can enter it if you want.
King Demon: "Shall we?"
Dragoshi: "I guess..."
King Demon goes up the stairs.
Aiden walks up the stairs his fingers resting on Hrotti again.
Halbardeer helps Dragoshi up the stairs if he's not fully awake and heads up himself.
Metal Man (GM): He's in a haze.
Dragoshi: *Takes Hal's help...For now, anyway*
Metal Man (GM): You walk up the stairs and see... a hologram.
Digifanatic: *is upstairs*
King Demon: "Not this AGAIN!"
Halbardeer waves to the hologram. "Hello there!"
Metal Man (GM): Sitting at the desk of Ivan is a hologram of Ivan, naturally. However, he has been glitched.
Ivan Robotnik: "So we meet again--so we meet again--so we meet again... So-so-so-so-... Meet meet meet meet meet meet... meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrhzhzhzgzhzgh."
Halbardeer: "Actually, I think this is the first time we've ever met..."
Metal Man (GM): *BZKHT*
Aiden quirks an eye "A fragment?"
Metal Man (GM): He sits there glitching out. Not very useful.
Dragoshi: "..."
Metal Man (GM): There's a slot for a power cell in here though.
Halbardeer takes a seat at Ivan's desk.
Metal Man (GM): You sit inside the hologram. It vanishes.
King Demon sighs and puts the power cell in the slot, again.
Metal Man (GM): The desk possesses various darkened monitors. They all turn on as Demon inserts the cell. A hatch closes over the power cell.
Halbardeer checks how comfy the chair is and looks at the now lit up monitors.
Metal Man (GM): The hologram reappears out of thin air to the left of the desk.
Ivan Robotnik: "This message was recorded in case the Questers found Eisnaught... unfortunately it is too late."
King Demon: "Of COURSE it is..."
Halbardeer: "It's ALWAYS too late."
Dragoshi: "Yea..."
Ivan Robotnik: "I, Ivan, have vanished, and Eisnaught has been destroyed. But you have found this piece, so you can aid me. It is likely, that, in case of emergency, my backup systems initialized. Unfortunately, they are aggressive against all people. For the safety of what remains."
Aiden: "I question why one makes a message in regards to it being to late."
Deloth: "Shhh."
Ivan Robotnik: "If you need something here, I posses the ability to answer one question. Only one." *flicker* "For your own good. What do you ask from me?"
Metal Man (GM): He warps onto the desk, sitting on it.
Ivan Robotnik: "I will wait patiently, as I did for you to find me."
King Demon: "Well, we HAVE to ask how to get the info outta Drag, right?" *that was to the Questers, not Ivan*
Halbardeer: "Maybe we could word the question so it has that AND another thing in it?"
Ivan Robotnik: "The cleverness of my answer... is linked to the cleverness of your question."
Aiden: "The question should be in regards to Dragoshi, the device used on him that is now apart of the information he holds, the removal of that information and its safe keeping from that point."
King Demon: "How about how do we all become indestructible?" (/sarcasm)
Dragoshi: "..."
Aiden: "..."
Ivan Robotnik: "My responses are limited. So be sure not to ask something impossible."
King Demon: "It was a joke..."
Aiden: "Sarcasm unfortunately does -not- mean it wasn't a question. Please refrain from that action again."
Digifanatic: "Yeah...we know if we get the info out of his head and so forth...but what else do you suggest we put in?"
Dragoshi: "Aiden, since you seem to be taking this the most seriously, you ask the questi-..."
Aiden: "Are we attempting to put -more- information into his head? *to the questers* "I thought this was about its removal."
Dragoshi: "...I believe you are right."
Ivan Robotnik: "Be sure not to ask too much, or I will give you many... partial answers."
King Demon: "The question is how do we remove it from his head and still have access to it."
Digifanatic: "I'm not sure if that's possible."
King Demon: "I know, but it is the question that needs asked, isn't it?"
Ivan Robotnik: "When you are ready to ask, tell me."
Halbardeer: "I don't think we care that much about what's in Dragoshi's head, so if the method of removing it allows us to retain it, that's a bonus, otherwise just get it out right?"
Digifanatic: "I'd say."
Halbardeer: "What do you say Dragoshi?"
Digifanatic: "I think we know the most important piece of information there is."
Aiden: "If that is the case. Then we shall have to deal with impractical answers if this isn't asked properly."
Dragoshi: "Mhm."
Aiden: "Are we all willing to accept this and possibly risk not understanding how to remove the contents from Dragoshi's being."
Deloth: "I'd say that's up to him."
Halbardeer: "We could always try getting the information from the computer if he doesn't tell us."
Ivan Robotnik: "I apologize for the situation this may put you in, but it is mainly because if I answered too many questions the computer would explode. This program is... very intensive."
Digifanatic: "Well, we've had to find pieces to puzzles before...hopefully, these wouldn't be too hard to find if so."
Aiden: "This is up to Dragoshi."
Deloth: "So let's go, then."
King Demon: "I agree..."
Halbardeer: "Dragoshi, you ask the question."
Ivan Robotnik: "Dragoshi shall ask the question? I shall listen carefully."
Dragoshi: "...Hal, that's a bad idea. Considering the state of mind I'm in, it might not be wise for me to do such a thing. I'm still a bit hazy after using the decoder multiple times."
Halbardeer: "Fine, you pick who asks the question."
Digifanatic: "I vote either Hal or Aiden."
Ivan Robotnik: "You will need to ask soon. I detect low battery power."
Dragoshi: "Same. Though, I'm leaning towards Aiden on this."
King Demon: "Great, I KNEW I wouldn't be able to use that cell much...
Deloth: "Aiden."
Dex: "If you were faster maybe less power would be used..."
Dragoshi: "...Okay, then, majority rules. Aiden, you ask."
King Demon: "... I just remembered why I don't like Dex much..."
Ivan Robotnik: "Listening..."
Aiden: "Last time Dragoshi. Question towards you and some things. Or question towards multiple things?"
Dragoshi: "Myself and some things. Now, hurry before the battery runs out."
Ivan Robotnik: "Indeed. The battery is low. Backup power is not enough to run this program. Although I tried very hard..."
Halbardeer: "Maybe he can ask more questions if we get a new power source."
Deloth: "Aiden, just go already."
Halbardeer: "I know what I'd ask, what's taking so long Mr.. clocks!"
Ivan Robotnik: "Power is mostly depleted. I am attempting to conserve what I can."
King Demon: "Then maybe you should ask it
Deloth: "You shut up too, Hal."
Aiden: "Understood." Aiden turns to Ivan Robotnik and begins to speak "It is this question I impart to you. Dragoshi has had a high level of information incorporated into him through a mysterious purple disc. This information is helpful however is ultimately killing him as its beyond the level any mind should hold all at once. The question is this. How do remove this information from his mind and if at all attempt to retain some of its massive tomes of information imparted to us.
Ivan Robotnik: "That is a very interesting question. For this information I was researching myself. Ultimately the only way to keep the information is in a machine. I had it in a machine. Then somebody stole it. One of Kuja's men. I managed to bend them to my side though. Of course, I refers to me, the automated hologram. The real Ivan, unfortunately, doesn't seem to be anywhere... so to remove the information from his mind you must use the device hidden under the fountain."
King Demon: "Of course..."
Ivan Robotnik: "To keep the information means using the device after it has removed the information... keep in mind that if you do that, however, it will be vulnerable to any hackers you may encounter."
Digifanatic: "Like Kuja."
Ivan Robotnik: "I assume you got this power cell from there, which Ivan himself hid in case of an emergency."
Dragoshi: *Nods*
Ivan Robotnik: "It is interesting how he managed to ensure I would be asked the question which I was best programmed to answer. I end my answer with a warning."
Dragoshi: "That being..."
Ivan Robotnik: "Ivan Robotnik appears to be planning something, and I don't mean myself... and I don't know where he is either. Good luck on your mission." *SHOOMP*
Metal Man (GM): A 'power low' warning appears and it turns off.
Dragoshi: "...I see. Thanks."
King Demon sighs and tries to get his power cell back.
Dex: "I have recorded that information in case you should need it."
Metal Man (GM): Demon retrieves the power cell.
Deloth: "Thanks, Dex. C'mon, let's head back to the fountain."
Metal Man (GM): The cell was once filled with a yellow liquid. It's now completely empty.
Aiden: "I see..I have an Idea about the information...but its something we have to look into at another time. Lets return to the fountain. We can decide our next step from there."
Deloth starts heading towards the fountain...
King Demon takes the cell, hoping to get it recharged later.
Dragoshi: *Moseys on along*
Metal Man (GM): You head down to the fountain, carefully.
King Demon does so as well.
Metal Man (GM): For the sake of time we assume you easily hop down that one bit of broken stairs.
Digifanatic: *follow*
Metal Man (GM): You reach the fountain.
Halbardeer heads along as well, helping Dragoshi get down the jump so he doesn't fall flat or anything.
King Demon: "OK, so how do we get UNDER the fountain?
Metal Man (GM): Upon reaching it, it automatically opens up. The Ivan must have commanded it to do so.
Deloth: "Like that."
King Demon: "Oh, well, THAT was easy..."
Metal Man (GM): It pops up and open, revealing an ancient pillar inscribed with runes.
Deloth starts climbing down carefully.
Halbardeer: "This is funny, I thought he was going to destroy us..."
Metal Man (GM): There's a spot marked on the floor for someone to kneel.
King Demon: Drag? I think that's for you *""
Dragoshi: *Kneels and stuff. Whee*
Metal Man (GM): The pillar glows. The information is removed, curing Dragoshi. Then the area shakes uncontrollably as a force field appears around the main plaza. The tower you were in falls backwards and into oblivion, disintegrating.
Deloth: "It's always something..."
Dragoshi: "...Yep."
Metal Man (GM): *BAM* The fountain falls over and explodes, revealing some sort of machine. It soon projects an image of Nova... ...a red Nova.
Halbardeer: "I take it that forcefield means we can't warp out?"
King Demon: "Wow, thats... new..."
Nova: "I told you I would crush you."
Deloth: "...Shit."
Nova: "You are not welcome here, Quester units."
King Demon: "Didn't we already kill you?"
Dragoshi: "...Whatever." *Gets up, readies his AR and just shoots at Nova, as he is not in the mood for this shit*
Nova: "Ivan kept me just in case anyone would enter his ruins. Your meddling destroyed an entire tower. Now die."
Metal Man (GM): It flies right through him. And now... BATTLE: FAKE NOVA vs. QUESTERS
King Demon draws his sword "Let's dance!"
Metal Man (GM): Fake Nova spends his first turn charging up.
King Demon slashes at Nova twice, then smacks him with a shoulder charge.
Digifanatic saves is defense by only doing one attack, but in doing so, he's gonna Hyper Beam Matrix Nova.
Halbardeer points at this Fake Nova and laughs. "If you're going to fight someone, attack me!
Metal Man (GM): He begins wildly warping around to evade hits, taking his projector with him. Demon: Miss miss miss. Digi: Miss. Fake Nova smiles at Hal.
Nova: "Why hit one person at a time when I can hit everyone?"
Halbardeer: "To prove you're... machine enough to down me in one shot!"
Dragoshi: *Attempts blast Fake Nova full force with about three bursts of acid*
Deloth: *Charging up...*
Metal Man (GM): Miss, miss. He's warping around everywhere. Hit.
Digifanatic: *This is why he saved his defense number as high as possible while still going for one attack...*
Aiden performs a flash sword strike putting his hand on Hrotti's hilt and removing it. A sonic curved wave lunges outward.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Nova: "You are powerful, but you cannot destroy me fast enough."
Deloth: *Wing Slam!*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Deloth: *25%.*
Halbardeer takes a defensive stance preparing for what's about to come next.
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi opens fire on Nova with a pair of Assault Rifle barrages*
Metal Man (GM): Hit miss.
Aiden performs two flash sword waves keeping his distance from Nova. He raises his right and left hand and places them on Hrotti and Durandal then grips their hilts. Theres a quick motion followed by a two waves.
Metal Man (GM): Miss, hit.
Nova: "Your time has come. Explosion!"
Metal Man (GM): The entire area explodes violently, threatening everyone! 75 damage if hit.
Deloth: "Uhhrg..."
Metal Man (GM): You block damage to yourself, Hal, but you cannot reverse it, as he's apparently immune to the explosion. Which makes sense, otherwise it'd have damaged him already.
Deloth shakes the cobwebs out of his head and gets back into battle stance.
Metal Man (GM): Failure to dodge, Aiden. 75 damage. Hit. 75 damage to Demon. Now Demon dexes Nova..
Nova: "You shall be destroyed very soon..."
Aiden finds himself engulfed in the flames gritting his teeth as they subside leaning toward the ground as his body smolders for a moment. His lion gaze lurches forward as if enraged as he looks to Fake Nova..
Dex: "...DING! Fake Nova; HP: 71/300; Dodge: q10; Explosion Rain: Charge 2 rounds, then unleash bloody explosive death. Threatens all, q12, 75 damage if hit. Delay 2, Rate 0.; Unknown other attacks. End of Entry."
Halbardeer stands unphased after the powerful explosion. "Looks like you're not so tough after all!"
Digifanatic: *Nova's waiting an extra turn...so Digi decides to go with an Icy Kick, a normal punch, and then a Fire Punch*
King Demon: "Great..."
Metal Man (GM): Miss miss miss. Nova keeps teleporting.
King Demon tries to blast Nova with a ground wave.
Metal Man (GM): Miss. What you don't get in ability to hit Nova, you make up in turns.
Deloth: *switches to his Cura bracelet and casts that on Dragoshi! +20 HP.*
Digifanatic: *He conjures up his inner maniacal musician and tunes up the band--or at least his keyboard--with some good A Day in the Life sonic explosions.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Digifanatic: "See, a little music never hurts my soul...but well, it just hurts you."
Dragoshi: *Switches out his Assault Rifle for the Innotek Android Machinegun and decides to open fire on Nova with it*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Aiden's hands start to move rapidly from one point to another against his Hrotti, Durandal, and Cortana ...shifting back and forth. *something is building* Wind Cutter.
Metal Man (GM): Fake Nova then powers up and holds out his hands. He fires a ton of lasers at Ocean. 15 damage per hit. Unlike the fruit ice, these are slower!
Digifanatic: *One turn ahead of Nova, hmm? Fire Punch and Icy Kick, in order.*
King Demon swings his sword at Nova twice, then ground waves him again, hopefully.
Metal Man (GM): Counter-strike fails against the first laser. Punch hits, Kick misses. Demon: Hit miss hit. Hit miss on those last ones, Aiden.
Halbardeer curls up his halberd and starts walkin towards Fake Nova. "I'm going to smack you up!"
Metal Man (GM): Everyone including Fake Nova must roll defense thanks to Aiden being hit... When Aiden's hit the force being built up explodes outward. A burst of specially compressed force surges in all directions.
Digifanatic: *That cut his remaining HP just about in half*
Aiden falls out as he KOs from that.
Nova: "Ha ha ha ha ow!"
King Demon is down to 58 hp.
Dragoshi: "Ow..."
Aiden: KO!
Halbardeer unleashes a charged up halberd smash, followed by a chaindash on Fake Nova.
Dragoshi: *And, so, Dragoshi opens fire on Fake Nova with the machinegun, trying to mow him down with it's fearsome variable power. >_>*
Metal Man (GM): Hit hit miss. Miss.
Halbardeer: 25 + 31 damage to Fake Nova
Nova: "You cannot hit me like that and escape alive!"
Metal Man (GM): He fires lasers at Hal. 15 damage hit, etc.
Halbardeer: "You're barely able to hit me! Gimme a bit more challenge!"
Nova: "No."
Dragoshi: "..."
King Demon strikes the fake twice and shoulder charges him.
Dragoshi: *Stares at Fake Nova like he just did/said something utterly stupid. And for saying said stupid thing, he goes to try and shoot him up some more. >_>*
Metal Man (GM): Both hit, Demon. Both hit, Dragoshi.
Digifanatic is cautious considering Nova's attacks...so he plays it safe for now and eats a Mushroom before trying to give Nova another Fire Punch.
Metal Man (GM): 273 damage taken by Nova.
Dragoshi: *Blows the smoke offa his machinegun, smirking* "How do you like that?"
Metal Man (GM): Hit, Digi.
Nova: "I like it like I like liking like you should die already!!!"
Dragoshi: "...I take it that I shot you a tad mite too hard..."
Metal Man (GM): Finish him, Aiden!
Aiden returns his eyes give off a yellow tone now in place of silver and the black slits in his eyes are now red. "That's quite enough." -.- Aiden chrono bursts toward Nova attempting to bash against them then come around for a quick windcutter!
Metal Man (GM): Failure Miss.
Nova: "I will survive."
Metal Man (GM): Now it's up to Digi.
Aiden somehow completely misses two supersonic attacks including on that puts about three dents in the ground around them >.<
Dragoshi: "...It'd be hilarious if you were wrong about that."
Halbardeer: "His defeat is inevitable! One more blow from Halbardeer and he'll be finished, but I suppose Izzy might be able to handle this too."
Nova: "You underestimate Ivan Robotnik. Now just go and try to kill me!"
Dragoshi: "'Try' is such an understatement."
King Demon: "Lemme at him again!"
Halbardeer: "Well technically, until we actually do it, we're just trying. Killing semantics are odd like that, you can't really "kill" someone as a present form even though the word exists."
Digifanatic figures out the one way that'll try to finish off Nova...he once again goes for the A Day in the Life crescendo and launches the first blast...and holds the final chord as long as he can, just like on Sgt. Pepper's itself...before suddenly slamming his other hand back down on the keys with a second jarring hit and another sonic blast!
Dragoshi: "...Huh. That was a weird...technicality to bring up..."
Metal Man (GM): Hit, hit.
Nova: "I have become stronger than you can ever stop."
Digifanatic: .oO(I wish I knew how to trigger more stuff out of this thing...)
Metal Man (GM): He is sent into death mode, but, oddly, he reforms instead of dying. The entire place shakes and the field around you grows smaller.
Nova: "Even though I may not live long, I can still take you with me!"
King Demon: "Ugh... NOW what?"
Dragoshi: "...Hmph."
Halbardeer: "Uh... dex, I don't suppose you can warp us out of here."
Metal Man (GM): The shield is too powerful to escape, and he's already slowly fading, so no further attacks will stop him. However, the giant pillar glows. He turns around.
Nova: "Ha ha ha ha ha... I am such a fool! I don't need to live here! I can live in there!"
Metal Man (GM): He floats up and into the pillar. The pillar falls through the ground... and you're left hanging. The entire island is falling apart and you're stuck under the field. What do you do?
Halbardeer looks through the hole in the ground the pillar just made.
King Demon wonders how they can get above the field.
Metal Man (GM): You see a hole which goes to the underside of the island. And it's a pretty steep drop just below it.
Digifanatic looks to see what the heck the field's made out of...
Metal Man (GM): It's a solid green energy barrier. As the island begins to completely disintegrate, you're still stranded under it.
Halbardeer: "I wonder if the ship we came on is inside the field our outside of it."
Dragoshi: *Decides to head over to the hole...Like, how steep?*
Metal Man (GM): You can answer that by looking at the shield.
King Demon wonders if it'd be possible to survive jumping in the hole.
Metal Man (GM): The shield's only around the plaza. Not the airstrip. The hole leads to the Y-zone and a steep fall of death.
Aiden: "We will have to find out." Aiden sheaths his blades and looks to everyone. His calm resolve has returned that gaze in his eyes is no longer there.
Halbardeer: "If only there was a way to get the ship to help us from the outside. Someone try attacking the barrier!"
King Demon launches a fireball at the barrier, for no real reason.
Dex: "Remote communications are still usable."
Digifanatic: "I'm pretty sure it won't work..."
Metal Man (GM): You don't know what's projecting the field. The fireball fails to break the barrier. The tower's totally gone.
Halbardeer: "Dex! do you have, any idea how to stop that forcefield?"
Aiden: "Can the ship be called from here?"
King Demon tries to find what's creating the barrier. He can't tell.
Digifanatic: "I wonder if Metal can warp somebody into the ship..."
Dex: "I cannot magically defeat barriers."
Digifanatic tries calling Metal from where he is.
Dex: "The ship may be called from here."
Dragoshi: *Calls the ship...*
Dex: "You cannot call Metal with the shield interfering. The ship wants to know where you want it."
Digifanatic: "Dang."
Halbardeer: "Tell ship to shoot the barrier!"
Aiden looks around for a spot that looks landable.
Metal Man (GM): Lasers hit the barrier. They do nothing.
Dragoshi: "No, Hal. That's dumb." *Tells the ship that it wants it in the current room they're in...Wherever that is. Plaza, right?*
Metal Man (GM): Nowhere looks landable. The entire island's falling apart, and, in fact, the part with you on it is sinking towards the bottom of the Y-zone.
King Demon: "Get the ship under us so we can get into it!
Halbardeer looks at the barrier and heads to basically dead center and looks around, to see if whatever is creating it is in the middle of it.
Metal Man (GM): The ship bounces off of the barrier.
Digifanatic thinks about things for a minute...
Dex: "The ship cannot land in the plaza. There is a force field."
Halbardeer: "Is the barrier below us too? Perhaps we can fall through the hole and get into the ship
Metal Man (GM): There's no barrier under the island.
Dragoshi: *Tries telling it to enter the plaza from the hole under the island*
Metal Man (GM): But the island is beginning to fall and disintegrate.
Digifanatic: .oO(If Metal telling me I couldn't return to Earth was a lie...maybe him telling me I can't teleport us outside this barrier is either..." )*
Metal Man (GM): The ship crashes into the underside of the island, blowing up the plaza.
King Demon tries the same thing Drag is.
Metal Man (GM): You're all falling now.
King Demon: "Well, THAT worked well...
Dex: "Perhaps you should have asked it to float under the hole instead."
Halbardeer: "That's what I suggested!"
King Demon attempts to jump to find somewhat stable ground.
Metal Man (GM): Nowhere to jump. Just falling.
Digifanatic tries the craziest idea possible...he's going to try and digitally teleport the entire party into the ship by trying to hook his Digivice into his Dex.
Halbardeer attempts to get a warp set up now that he's under the barrier.
Digifanatic: *And then setting coordinates into the ship if at all possible*
Metal Man (GM): Everyone is warped in a pile inside the ship, moments before they'd fall out of the Y-zone.
Digifanatic: "Metal...I love the way you've lied to me."
King Demon scrambles into the pilot's seat and gets us out of here.
Dragoshi: *Mumbles, crawls out of the pile, and takes the weapons position*
Halbardeer sits on top of Aiden.
Metal Man (GM): You may now fly out... and remember not to ask space ships to fly through small holes.
Halbardeer: "Damn it! It's so hard to get off my back with all this armor on!"
Digifanatic just crawls out, takes a normal seat and belts in.
King Demon flies everyone home.
Metal Man (GM): *Whoosh* Mission Complete. You make it back to HQ, in one piece... more or less.
Digifanatic: "That was the first time I've tried that in years...the teleport thing." *flops down on the floor, a bit exhausted after that last mission* "Are you okay now, Dragoshi?"
Halbardeer: "Hmm... at least we got out okay... we prolly would of been less falling if we'd not told the ship to fly through the tiny hole."
King Demon goes to Oak to see if he can borrow that manual to read it.
Halbardeer has the manual.
Halbardeer likes to read manuals.
King Demon: "Hey Hal, can I have the Ship manual?"
Halbardeer decides to read it right now, until Demon asks him that question. "Hmm... I suppose you're the one who flies the ship... so I guess you've got higher priority. Here you go." Handing the manual to Demon and looking around. "I'm a bit stiff, Mr. clocks wind blast knocked the wind out of me. That Nova guy had nothing on that."
King Demon takes the manual "Thanks... I think I have something for you..." *he hands Hal a manual on advanced Demon summoning... but it's written in a strange language*
King Demon: "Sorry, but I don't have the proper translation for it."
Halbardeer: "Can Dex read it to me?"
King Demon: "I don't know, its a book I picked up on my travels."
Halbardeer: "Well maybe I'll look at it later."
Halbardeer heads off.
King Demon: "Far as I can tell, it belonged to an ancient civilization, but they seem to have become extinct long before I found their home."
And thus, another mission faded into the past...
