Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 10: The Borne Intrigue
Date: October 18th & 19th, 2008.
Trivia: Long ago, during the Dark Ages of SSQ, I colored all of my GMing statements as orange. This was to fit in with a style hal_emmerich introduced of having colored GM text. I dropped it and went back to the old standard though...
Metal Man (GM): Last time, the Questers went on crazy car chase to stop Borne's super-robot (which they failed to prevent him from releasing.) Keikyoku and Deloth are stuck underground inside the safest place ever--too bad they don't want to be there. And somewhere in this mess, Borne's gone and switched places with another GUN man, so he can settle the 'more important business.' We resume with Deloth, Keikyoku, and a dead robot stuck inside a force field inside a bunker 99 floors below ground level. The field blocks all exit, and the button doesn't work for anyone but Borne. There's a dead robot body laying in here from earlier, Keikyoku, busted machine pieces, and Deloth. The machine was one of (but not the only) control device for the doomsday weapon Borne idly released.
Deloth continues leaning propped up against the field. He's still in critical health status.
Deloth: *mumbling to himself with eyes shut.* "The sun is shining... gentle breeze... I'm back with my girlfriend on a hilltop..."
Keikyoku tries to remember exactly what Borne did right before, and when he pressed the button.
Deloth opens one eye and shoots a glare at the ceiling. "It's better than the alternative."
Metal Man (GM): Borne specifically pressed a lever with his pointer finger... he was making sure to use the flat part of his finger to do it.
Keikyoku tries to find the lever.
Metal Man (GM): The lever is easy to find. The problem is, last time anyone other than Borne poked it, it shot at them. There's a second, red lever, though. It says 'DO NOT TOUCH.'
Keikyoku pulls the lever.
Metal Man (GM): It explodes in Keikyoku's face.
Deloth: "Still on that hilltop... sun shining... trying desperately not to crack up..."
Metal Man (GM): Sitting around doesn't seem to do much for Deloth, but the debris on the floor looks more interesting.
Keikyoku rips off the robot's arm.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku rips it off. It appears to have fingerprints on it.
Keikyoku puts out one of the finger and with the flat of it pushes the lever to make the shield deactivate.
Metal Man (GM): No go. It shoots the finger right out of Keikyoku's hand. The robot... has no fingerprints. At least. Not on its hand. On its side there's some smudgy ones.
Keikyoku tries the same thing with the fingerprints on its side.
Metal Man (GM): The thing seems to blink a bit... just randomly sticking the side in doesn't seem to do it. There's a finger print for each of the four main fingers on the arm...
Keikyoku tries to line up the fingerprints with the lever.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku lines it up carefully... eventually something clicks and the field flickers offline.
Deloth promptly falls backwards and whacks his head on the floor. "..."
Keikyoku: "I wonder why there are fingerprints on the robot's side? Borne was probably ballroom dancing with it." *quickly looks around for any healing items.*
Metal Man (GM): No healing items around.
Keikyoku looks around for a full map of the building.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku only sees a listing that... there's a facility at the -20 story area. The rest is empty. This is the sole thing down here. It says 'Top secret Military facility.'
Keikyoku walks to the elevator and hits -20.
Metal Man (GM): We'll return to this... after a bit of the other group! Moving to the main group: they've wrecked a car, but they're much closer to the doomsday weapon now. They just have to run across a field to reach it... The weapon, a four-legged attack machine, is nearly to Westopolis.
Digifanatic: *WHEEEEEEEEEE!* "Ohhhh man, I hope we don't have to deal with the thugs, too."
Dragoshi: "They're still under the echidna's control, if I remember right, Digi. In any case." *He quickly runs, runs as fast as he can, for he must stop the weapon! And stuff!*
Digifanatic: *Indeed he keeps running.*
Gibby chases after Drag.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers run towards it. However, they are stopped... by Commander Borne. He is wearing a black overcoat and doesn't look too friendly.
Commander Borne?: "Not so fast, eh! I will fight you all! Prepare to be dead!"
Dragoshi: "...no, shut up. We have no time for this."
Gibby: "AHA! You again! We must duel a second time!"
Commander Borne?: "Neither do I. That's why I told my men to blow up the ground behind me!"
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOOOOOM.* A sort of hovering attack craft swoops in and blows up the ground behind Borne, making it a fiery, unpassable trench.
Gibby: "...DO IT AGAIN!"
Metal Man (GM): It then hovers over the area, and is floating behind Borne.
Dragoshi: "...How hilariously unnecessary."
Commander Borne?: "Now... you will fight me... or my floating ship will slice and dice you!"
Digifanatic: .oO(How did he get fr... but we were in two cars and...)
Gibby gets in a karate pose... crane position to be exact.
Dragoshi: "...'aight. Your funeral." *Readies his scythe.*
Metal Man (GM): An interesting observation comes to Digi. Borne drove a jeep. Digi sees it nearby, a ways back.
Gibby: "Prepare to be defeated, young grasshoppa!"
Metal Man (GM): He ran out to intercept the Questers.
Commander Borne?: "Now, to ensure I defeat you, I will take this entirely dangerous, non-tested serum!"
Metal Man (GM): He stabs himself with some sort of syringe and begins glowing various colors.
Commander Borne:?:: "Ahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa!!!!"
Gibby: "Serum... serum... SEA-RUM... seerumm..."
Digifanatic: *And he trips!*
Commander Borne?: "Ah... take this!" He takes out his jacket a grenade, then hurls it at Dragoshi.
Metal Man (GM): He hurls it over Dragoshi's head and into a ditch, which explodes!
Dragoshi: "..." *Just stands there as the grenade flies way over his head and explodes nowhere near him.*
Commander Borne?: "My bad... take two?"
Metal Man (GM): He hurls another one at Dragoshi. Surprise! *BAM*
Dragoshi: *Gets blasted back by that one.* e_e
Commander Borne?: "You will die!" *hic.*
Gibby whacks himself in the face a couple times. "Prepare to meet... your DOOOOOM!" He runs towards Commander Borne and punches him in the left leg with his fin. "HI-YA!!"
Commander Borne?: "Gah! I see... I see blue blobs everywhere!"
Metal Man (GM): Commander Borne leaps sideways! Gibby misses!
Gibby: "Thou shall not get away!" *He attempts to headbutt him in the gut this time!*
Metal Man (GM): He runs head-first into Gibby!
Gibby retreats back to the group holding his head. "His stomach is painful..."
Dragoshi: *Charges at Borne, and starts off his turn by attempting to steal something offa him.*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi steals a strange grenade. It appears to be... ticking.
Commander Borne?: "Er... I didn't know I had that!"
Gibby: "Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock..."
Dragoshi: "...well, then." *Puts it down near him, then proceeds to try and ram his scythe into Borne.*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi stabs him, just barely. Borne is knocked back.
Digifanatic decides to just fight this guy normally--for now--... he calls his first shot via Fire Punch...
Metal Man (GM): He dodges the first shot.
Digifanatic: *Icy Kick.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Commander Borne?: "Now, see here, what's this all about?" He picks up the ticking grenade. Then before the Questers can do anything else...
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.* He explodes.
Digifanatic: *When we shine ze light on it--Zeeky boogy doog. Oh crap.*
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM.*
Metal Man (GM): There is nothing left of Borne... but the Questers realize why this whole thing happened quickly. The fire has died down.
Gibby is blackened to a crisp. "...ow... ie..."
Metal Man (GM): The giant doomsday machine has reached Westopolis. And it's just smashing it to pieces.
Dragoshi: *Quickly continues on his way to Westopolis...*
Digifanatic: "Hey, no more psycholeader!"
Gibby: "...ONWARD! TO THE EVIL... SPIDER... MAChine... thing-a-ma-bob... er."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers jump over the simmering trench, now nearing Westopolis. They see several Echidna ships flee as the place is torched.
Digifanatic: *runs on.*
Gibby makes haste.
Metal Man (GM): A ship flies up to the Questers... one of the Echidna ones. One of the people there throws down a ramp and motions to them.
Echidna: "Jump aboard! We can't take it with our current firepower! GUN has routed the civilian branch and... we didn't have enough time to send reinforcements!" A missile flies overhead. *BLAM* It barely misses it.
Digifanatic: "Well, we might be able to help you..."
Echidna: "We'll need to plan a counter-attack... we can't stop this thing with what we have... no time for discussion!"
Gibby: "Hooray! A plane trip!"
Digifanatic: "What do you want, guys?"
Gibby climbs up the ramp.
Dragoshi: "Understood." *Follows behind Gibby.*
Echidna: "We don't want anything... we just thought you might be killed if you ran into the city!"
Dragoshi: "Fair enough."
Digifanatic: "Good point."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go into the ship, just in time to escape the city being annihilated by the weapon. Borne may seemingly be dead... but his objective completed anyway? The Questers are flying towards Angel Island now. They're given some healing medicine to heal their wounds.
Gibby yawns. All this car chasing and exploding stuff was making him tired.
Dragoshi: *Takes the medicine, and nods in thanks.*
Echidna: "...We received some communications from some ex-GUN agents and the man who you talked to. Borne released a weapon of unprecedented power... there was little you could have done. Was that Borne you fought there? He seemed a bit... strange."
Digifanatic: "Yeah. Thank goodness he's gone... unless that was some stupid projection."
Dragoshi: "...That he did."
Gibby: "Super duper strange!"
Echidna: "Didn't he run away from you the other time you fought him?"
Dragoshi: "That he did."
Gibby: "Most enemies tend to do that." *rubs his head.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers hear some radio speech.
Echidna: "Well. We're going to have to change our destination."
Dragoshi: "To where, if I may inquire?"
Echidna: "I assume you have some friends on this continent, we'll need to pick them up, then fly to the peak of Angel Island. Because..." The ship turns to face Angel Island. The Questers can see outside the window.
Gibby: "Oh yeah! Del and Kei!"
Metal Man (GM): ...There are GUN airplanes and ships attacking the town.
Dragoshi: "...Hoo boy."
Gibby looks out.
Metal Man (GM): The ship turns to the Emerald Coast area...
Echidna: "I don't know... it seems like we'll have to mount a counter-offensive, perhaps. We still possess a variety of weapons, but we split them up when we took Westopolis."
Digifanatic: "Feels like this endeavor should end in a place no less perfect than where it started..."
Echidna: "It appears that underneath the peaceful demeanor of civilian GUN, this madman was waiting to strike... perhaps we need some backup, too."
Metal Man (GM): The ship hovers over the sand and slowly lands.
Echidna: "You think you might be able to get us help from the Mushroom Kingdom?"
Digifanatic: "I was just anticipating that..."
Echidna: "Reports indicate home base will be able to hold out for now... but they're waiting for a counter-attack, that's what they want. Instead we shall gather what we can... You're missing some of your members, right? Where were they last?"
Digifanatic: "In the GUN base. Basement, too, at that."
Echidna: "...Well... that will be tough."
Digifanatic: "Basement, too, at that."*
Gibby: "Well Del can take care of himself... I just hope he can take care of Kei too."
Echidna: "The super-mecha patrols the two-city area and has yet to be stopped. In order to get near now we have to send a ship on what may be a suicide mission just to distract it."
Metal Man (GM): Marley and Jack walk over. The ramp opens.
Digifanatic: "Oh, hey!"
Marley: "Taken a few knocks, 'ave yeh? Well. We might be able to help some... well, not exactly us."
Gibby looks over at Marley and Jack and smiles. "What do you mean?"
Jack: "I don't know... I prefer all the death and destruction..." *SMACK* "Er... yeah."
Marley: "A robot approached us, informing that while you were gone, it located a rotting Egg Carrier and used your overpowered fuel cell to make it possible to access it. And with my ingenuity, we could get it to work."
Jack: "Of course, it's not very useful... except!"
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a big piece of paper, comparing their sizes.
Jack: "We can crash it into the superweapon and take it out in one blow. It's so huge that it would split the mech in half and, if loaded with explosives and whatever our Echidna friends can haul, would basically demolish the thing. Of course, I would prefer if this was done near a city--" *SMACK* "Okay, okay! In a field."
Marley: "Of course, it's dangerous and you'll have to navigate the submerged hallways with little air and... what I've heard are rumors of sea creatures that live inside. But, eh. Better than crazy men with guns, right?"
Gibby: "Sounds like paradise..."
Dragoshi: "I suppose..."
Echidna: "Our idea would be to regroup and trip it, then blast it until it (the mecha) sinks into the ocean..."
Metal Man (GM): The now wounded David Hale limps onto the scene.
Echidna: "...And of course, get the Mushroom Kingdom's help to do so."
Dragoshi: .oO(Isn't it technically a--Ah, nevermind.)
David Hale: "We possess a handful of mecha with which to aid you, however we lost a number in that battle... You could also try to land on the mecha and attack it from within."
Gibby: "So many choices."
Metal Man (GM): Just as if that many choices wasn't confusing enough, the Questers see a black winged angel walk into the scene... who obviously isn't from around here.
Flaeyn (GM): He walked into the background, sporting a black uniform--fancily made and trimmed with gold. Sporting long raspberry-colored hair, he looked onto everyone with stern eyes, and adjusted the fingerless gloves on his hands. "..."
Echidna: "...Anyway, tell me what you decide on." He walks off to begin repairs on the damaged ship. Marley and Jack sit on some crates and start writing some stuff down... David Hale finds a decent place to fall over and rest on, as he's apparently rather injured.
Digifanatic: "Well, this is a rather interesting party."
Flaeyn tilted his head ever so slightly to the side, staying silent with the same expression.
Gibby can't help but stare at Flaeyn.
Dragoshi: *Sways back and forth slightly, trying to figure out who's idea they should go with...*
Gibby nudges Drag.
Digifanatic: "I'd like the path that has the better backup plan, like if our ship goes down and the mech doesn't."
Gibby: "Who's the scary looking guy?"
Marley: "I bet he's another new person to this world. 'Cuz he looks so strange! Which is good, because you guys need help, right?"
Digifanatic: "Excuse me, are you a witness looking for an explanation as to what's gone on?" *muttering to the others.* "Hey, he could be..."
Flaeyn: "...Of course." He said with a cooled tone. "What's going on..?"
Marley: "Er..." *He looks the angel person.* "Long, confusing story short, these guys call themselves Questers, or so I heard, and they appear to be trying to stop a crazy military guy named Commander Borne. Speaking of that Commander..."
Gibby hides behind Dragoshi.
Metal Man (GM): He points out to the distance. There's a city on fire, and being smashed by a massive, almost dog-shaped mecha.
Marley: "He appears to have sent a giant mecha to smash to pieces a city that had been taken from his control, and we're trying to think of how to stop that mecha. Before it comes over here and smashes us next..."
Flaeyn: "Delightful." Replying, cracking his knuckles. "Stopping a giant, mechanical mutt." He would shake his head, sighing. "What the hell have I got myself into?"
Digifanatic: "And I'm not entirely convinced we destroyed Borne--he could have easily created a decoy on us."
Dragoshi: "...long story short. Stuff. That's what you've gotten yourself into."
Digifanatic: *candidly nods.*
Gibby: "Scary stuff."
Marley: "Our options include smashing a ship into it, landing on it and trying to break inside it, or getting help from another place and then shooting it into the sea."
Dragoshi: "I'm split between either destroying it from the inside or crashing a ship into it, in all honesty..."
Flaeyn: "..." He listens with a twitching brow and a frown, finding that none of this makes sense to him.
Digifanatic: "Crashing a ship would probably look better for the press, and probably has the better capability of dealing a significant blow in one shot."
Gibby: "I'm a fan of attacking from the inside. It lets us stay away from the big explosions."
Digifanatic: "Well, perhaps we can enter it after we rip its guts out?"
Gibby: "Sounds messy."
Flaeyn: "Even if we do choose to attack from the inside, how do you propose to exactly get there?"
Gibby: "Uhh... secret hatch?"
Marley: "Er... leap off a low-flying ship? Getting inside... well..."
David Hale: "There's vents all over it."
Dragoshi: "Presumably, the guy that came up with the idea--" *Points at David.* "Would probably have an-THERE we go."
David Hale: "It might be a bit hot... But you seem tough."
Flaeyn: "...not to mention some of us can't fit in there." He said, now fluttering his wings in emphasis.
David Hale: "Eh, it has massive vents... you could probably fit inside. The issue is finding your way in to the part where operators go, rather than into a lethal engine cylinder."
Dragoshi: "I'd imagine..."
Digifanatic: "I see. "
Flaeyn: "Is there some way we can get information on where it's located? Perhaps we can steal the mecha specs..."
David Hale: "Inside the GUN base... where two of your friends are still stuck, I think."
Gibby: "If only we could contact those two..."
David Hale: "You could go after them... GUN appears to be a bit busy right now."
Digifanatic: "I like that idea..."
Dragoshi: *Nods in agreement.*
Echidna: "Well... we can take you there, then."
Flaeyn stays neutral, now just watching from afar.
Digifanatic: "Why, thanks."
Gibby: "Works for me."
Dragoshi: "Same..." *Continuing his swaying. A-yep.*
Digifanatic: "Well, let's go, then?"
Echidna: "Step aboard and we shall depart."
Dragoshi: *All aboard!*
Digifanatic: *nods, mutters another "Thank you" and boards.*
Gibby climbs aboard.
Flaeyn's the last to board, after looking behind him and being cautious, following a group of strangers after all.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers climb aboard... and we switch back to Deloth and Keikyoku! Keikyoku and Deloth arrive at floor -20. The door has been left open... apparently this was where Borne went.
Deloth: "Well, nice to know Borne didn't break my legs..."
Metal Man (GM): The door is ajar... the room has got a lot of computers... and the two Questers can just barely peek inside.
Keikyoku cautiously peeks his head out the door and looks to see if he can spot Borne.
Deloth leans against the wall next to the door and listens.
Metal Man (GM): Borne is not in this area... however, Keikyoku and co. see a bunch of locked cases and tubes... they're all dating to the Eggman war. Wait a minute... the thing missing is 'Eggman mech control'... hm. There is also an interesting tube, the height of a person. It has a label.
Deloth walks over to that and looks at it.
Metal Man (GM): 'METAL SONIC: UNSTABLE SUPERWEAPON' 'DO NOT RELEASE, WILL ATTEMPT TO KILL ALL IT SEES.'
Deloth: "... Ohhhhhhhhhh, SHIT."
Metal Man (GM): 'ADAPTIVE TECHNOLOGY IS BEYOND OUR ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND' It has a keyboard... apparently it takes a very long password to unlock it.
Deloth: *He checks the status of the tube.*
Metal Man (GM): It's opaque. Covered in metal plating.
Deloth steps AWAY from the tube.
Metal Man (GM): They can't even bother to show what's inside, that's too dangerous apparently. There's more sections than this one, but Borne never unlocked 'em. However, there is another tool which looks useful, which was left unlocked. ...'Dr. Eggman's heal-o-matic' The key is still in it and it's set to 'full heal'
Deloth: "...Convenient." *steps in.*
Metal Man (GM): This must be how he himself healed after that... battle. Deloth steps into it. It's a chair... The minute he sits down, it glows, and his wounds are gone. Eggman is quite the mad scientist!
Deloth: "...Phew. THAT'S a rush." *steps out.*
Metal Man (GM): Items of interest nearby are mostly the Eggman jetpack, the Eggman emergency smashing device, and the Eggman Bombomb. But they're all locked up pretty tightly. That would be why Borne didn't really worry about leaving the door open.
Deloth: "...Figures I left my lockpick set at home."
Metal Man (GM): Naturally one probably wouldn't want to even touch the Metal Sonic tube. Statistics written on the wall near it show that it was only stopped by a freak accident, and several people died from it even then. 'When Eggman vanished, it stopped making sense and went on a nonstop killing spree.'
Deloth will not touch it, indeed. He looks for any means of communication in here.
Metal Man (GM): There is a phone. It links up to the phone system in general.
Keikyoku looks around for something that can help stop the machine.
Metal Man (GM): The remote's missing, but there's some notes in the unlocked remote case.
Keikyoku uses the healing machine before looking at the notes.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku is healed... the notes are simple. There's a bunch of vents near the right side of the mecha, by the neck. A well targeted attack could cripple it there.
Deloth grabs those and pockets them.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth obtains the mech notes!
Deloth: "Don't touch that phone."
Keikyoku goes to the phone and dials 411.
Deloth looks for a pair of cutting implements.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth sees some... inside a glass case. Curses, foiled again!
Deloth grabs the phone from Kei's hand and puts it back on the hook. "You're not one for following instructions, are you?"
Metal Man (GM): Kei dials, hears something, then... *click.*
Keikyoku: "What the hell I was trying to call the echidna headquarters in Westopolis and tell them how to stop the mech."
Deloth: "The thought that the phones here MAY be monitoring calls never crossed your mind?"
Keikyoku: "Look around the place is deserted, everyone has been evacuated, who is here to stop us even if the phones are being monitored."
Deloth: "Commander Borne? ...Just a thought."
Keikyoku: "I'm pretty sure he left, and I doubt he will be able to stop both of us at full health."
Deloth: "...You didn't catch the memo where he nearly broke me in half. Got it. Besides, do they even HAVE a phone?"
Keikyoku: "For one you were alone, two we if one of us gets hurt badly, the other can stave him off while he uses the healing machine. if they do I can be connected to it."
Deloth: "Your strategy consists of 'bang on a forcefield and scream.' I'm not comforted. Look, we have the mech notes. Let's just get out of here and find the others."
Keikyoku: "Well if I call them they can destroy the mech before it destroys Westopolis."
Deloth: "No, they can't, because they don't know how to kill a fifty-story juggernaut WITHOUT KNOWING THE WEAK POINTS OF IT."
Keikyoku: "Wow, you really don't understand the point of calling them do you."
Deloth: "WE DON'T KNOW IF THEY HAVE A PHONE. OR IF THEY ARE EVEN STILL *IN* Westopolis. Do you not understand ANY simple logic?!"
Metal Man (GM): Deloth and Keikyoku argue as Westopolis burns.
Keikyoku: "If they have a phone I can get connected to it, and even if they aren't there at the moment the echidnas will know how to stop it."
Deloth shakes his head and walks out towards the exit, wherever it is. He wonders how much jail time justifiable homicide carries...
Keikyoku picks the phone back up and dials 411.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku picks up the phone and call 411. An operator picks up.
???: "This is information, what do you need?"
Keikyoku: "Can you connect me to the echidna headquarters in Westopolis."
Metal Man (GM): *Click.* *Beep.* *Ring.* *Telephone goes dead.* Apparently, the phone lines are down over there. Paranoia or not, the phone won't go through!
Keikyoku hangs up the phone and looks at the labels on the tubes for something that can help.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku sees... Metal Sonic... emergency smashing stick... Egg-pizza cutter... Egg Bom-bom... Not too useful.
Keikyoku takes the pizza cutter and the bashing stick.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku can't really take them, they're stuck in cases. Passworded cases. Maybe if he found the passwords later he could open them.
Keikyoku walks over to the elevator.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku walks to the elevator... The city of Capital City is stark empty, and just as the Echidna ship carrying the other Questers lands, they see Keikyoku and Deloth, having left the building. Naturally the ramp to the Echidna ship opens... and both halves of the group are next to one another! Surely, the revelation that Borne escaped from the bunker will be of importance to the larger main group...
Deloth runs in at top speed and hands the others the notes, for his first action.
Keikyoku climbs aboard the ship to talk to the captain.
Gibby: "There you are. Good to see you guys are safe."
Deloth: "The mech's an Eggman bot. It has got a weakness at a bunch of vents near the neck on the right side."
Gibby: "Vents... like what Hale said earlier."
Deloth: "There's more."
Gibby listens in.
Deloth: "The room where we found those notes... full of Eggman inventions. Metal Sonic's down there too."
Dragoshi: "...make sure he stays there."
Gibby: "M-m-m-metal... Sonic?!"
Digifanatic: "Oh man, I remember those days..."
Echidna: "...Metal Sonic."
Deloth: "He's apparently locked up pretty tight, though... what's the situation up here?"
Echidna: "You know, this place is empty. Anyone could go in there now. Maybe we should take Metal Sonic so he can be stored somewhere secure. Like the bottom of the ocean."
Dragoshi: "...so they could."
Gibby: "I say we smash the thing to pieces."
Deloth: "Uh, that's not a good idea."
Gibby: "Why not?"
Deloth: "Apparently Metal Sonic nearly blew up half of the known world when he WAS let out. He only got locked back up due to a fluke."
Digifanatic: "We'd probably wake him up in the process of smashing him to pieces. That too."
Keikyoku: "We could store him in the impenetrable shield then break the lever so no one can get in."
Echidna: "Can it potentially be moved?"
Digifanatic: "That'd be a nice wish, Kei. I'm not sure if we could do that. "
Deloth: "I... don't know. I didn't check to see if that tube was movable or not... you guys seen Borne?"
Gibby: "Seen him? We defeated him!" *places his fins at his side all proud-like.*
Dragoshi: "...He was actin' strange, though."
Digifanatic: "Yeah. I wasn't confident we took him down for good."
Dragoshi: "Hell, he blew himself up with his own grenade."
Digifanatic: "Yeah. He's psycho but not that psycho."
Deloth: "That... doesn't sound like our criminal mastermind."
Gibby: "You people and your suspicions..."
Echidna: "GUN forces began attacking our home town, cutting off our escape."
Deloth looks at the horizon. "...Sort of amazing how epic my screwups can get sometimes, huh."
Echidna: "We're trying to figure out a way to either clear that machine away or... perhaps get back to the island."
Metal Man (GM): The machine is currently standing over the torched remnants of Westopolis.
Gibby: "Hey, don't worry Del. We can fix this. It's not the end of the world or anything."
Deloth glares at Gibby.
Echidna: "Or get backup, like, from the Mushroom Kingdom."
Keikyoku: "Borne was gonna set it off whether you attacked him or not, it isn't your fault."
Digifanatic: "Well, as I said before, I thought it'd work to combine the ideas as in smash the mecha with the ship and then run in and attack from the inside."
Echidna: "Whatever we do, we have to hurry. The ships at the island might break through if we give them too much peace. And that hulking robot... why, it might be able to hit our island with some shots."
Keikyoku: "That might work, and if this is the same ship as the one at Wario's it has a bunch of fun weapons on it."
Echidna: "We can't smash a ship into it! Not one of ours, at least. Too small. Our weapons are too small scale..."
Digifanatic: "Oh... I thought I heard a plan like that earlier."
Gibby: "I say we just stick with the vent plan. No messy business with ship crashing."
Deloth: "Then let's go."
Keikyoku: "Well we could look at the weapons inside and see if they have any better ones than the ones we currently have."
Echidna: "Why didn't you take them immediately?"
Dragoshi: "...That's a good question." >_>
Keikyoku climb onto the ship to find a better punching glove.
Metal Man (GM): None that Keikyoku can find.
Deloth: *Looks for swords.*
Keikyoku looks around for any weapons close to his current one that are stronger.
Dragoshi: *Looks for scythes or machineguns.* >_>
Metal Man (GM): The Echidnas don't have any spare weapons of that type either. They have the ones their men are equipped with. Gloves and swords. But no extra.
Echidna: "I thought you meant inside that building. We don't have any spare weapons..."
Deloth: "Ah, the Eggman stuff? It's all locked tight."
Dragoshi: "...I thought so too. ..."
Keikyoku: "I wonder what floor the gun weapons would be on."
Echidna: "Well, I don't know."
Keikyoku: "Hmmm" *walks into the gun building and looks at the map in the lobby.*
Metal Man (GM): It only shows floors 1-99. The 1-99 is civilian offices only.
Keikyoku storms out of the building "If there are weapons in there they're somewhere in levels -1 through -99."
Echidna: "Well, I don't know about those. There are probably weapons from Eggman on that submerged ship we heard about..."
Deloth: "Do we have time to get them?"
Digifanatic: "Oh yeah, that one we passed up a while back..."
Echidna: "Reports indicate the mech is beginning to move again. The island attackers are not moving, although they aren't making any progress. Additionally, we probably can't stay here much longer. The other GUN base is recovering from the civilian GUN's attempt to take it over and about to... attack."
Digifanatic: "I'm not sure if we have time to check things out now..."
Keikyoku climbs aboard the ship "Well let's go then."
Echidna: "To where?"'
Keikyoku: "To the mech."
Dragoshi: "...So, we're goin' through with the plan to attack it from the inside then, Kei? Or do you have some craaaazy idea?"
Digifanatic: "Sounds like we're going to disembowel it."
Gibby: "Works for me."
Keikyoku: "I like the idea of attacking it from the inside."
Dragoshi: "Okay, good."
Digifanatic: "Any objections?"
Deloth: "None here."
Dragoshi: "None on my end." :/
Echidna: "I'll be able to get in close, but when we drop you off, we won't really be able to pick you up... obvious danger of being blown up. That okay?"
Gibby: "We'll manage."
Dragoshi: "That we shall."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, we'll probably find some deus-ex-machina way of escaping this..."
Dragoshi: "Or we could hijack it."
Keikyoku: "Now you're talking."
Deloth: "Let's just take this as it goes along for now, okay, guys?"
Dragoshi: "I suppose."
Metal Man (GM): The ship takes off. The Echidna looks down.
Echidna: "Good luck then, I suppose..."
Digifanatic: *He's on board this ship.*
Keikyoku stares out the window, enjoying being in the air.
Metal Man (GM): The ship flies, and...
Deloth: "I still cannot believe how badly I screwed up this time. This just takes the cake."
Keikyoku: "I told you, it's not your fault."
Dragoshi: *Just stays silent.*
Deloth: "Technically, since I wound up goading Borne into attacking... yeah, it is."
Keikyoku: "No matter what you did he was going to release it."
Gibby: "If it makes you feel any better, you're not the only one who screwed up. Things could've gone better if I hadn't had that 'Special' coffee."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are inbound for the giant mech. Alarms go off, as it is obvious their ship has been locked on to.
Echidna: "Okay, tell me real quick... where do you want to be dropped off? Head? Back?"
Deloth: "Right side of the neck."
Dragoshi: "What he said."
Metal Man (GM): The ramp opens. A heavy wind blows through the ship. The Questers start hearing machinegun fire.
Echidna: "Okay, get ready to jump!"
Deloth runs over to the ramp and crouches down.
Dragoshi: *Also runs over to the ramp, and gets in position...*
Gibby steps onto the ramp next to Del.
Digifanatic: *goes to the ramp and braces himself.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are over the mech now... *BOOOM* ...time to jump.
Keikyoku runs and jumps off the ramp with his boots on full blast.
Gibby: "It looks like I'm gonna have ta Juuump!" *leaps.*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth trips, Dragoshi falls backwards, and Gibby trips too... Digi has no real problem just jumping, and Keikyoku does even better.
Deloth: *slip.* "OH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiit..."
Gibby is pained.
Keikyoku does a backflip to show off.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth, Gibby, and Dragoshi fall onto the machine, face-first. Digi and Keikyoku land... just fine.
Dragoshi: *Still did better than Del and Gibby, though.* :p
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are now atop the thing... and it looks like even atop this thing, they can't escape its wrath. Several mini-turrets atop it spin around to point at the Questers.
Keikyoku skates around in a circle before helping Del up.
Deloth gets up and starts scrambling for the vents.
Dragoshi: *Quickly gets up.*
Gibby holds his head. He's gonna need a whole bottle of aspirin once this is all over.
Keikyoku scrams for the vents.
Digifanatic: "Don't worry about that. Just get over it and let's tear this thing to shrapnel." *heads for a vent, preferably one Kei's not going for. Divide and conquer!*
Gibby follows Kei to the vents.
Dragoshi: *Runs on over to the vents.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers run to the vents... bullets are fired at them from all directions.
Deloth: *Not blegh! A few flips and those bullets miss by a furlong!*
Metal Man (GM): At the vents, there is a massive grate system. The mech has no defense aircraft, so it's having a heck of a time trying to aim at the Questers with more than those pea shooters. The grates are thick and tough... and it's like a gigantic vent there. Extremely superheated air comes out from there.
Keikyoku looks for a cool vent.
Deloth grabs his laser-type sword and tries to start cutting through the grate.
Gibby starts to sweat.
Metal Man (GM): None of them are cool. Deloth slashes a grate off off, revealing... a vent. The air coming from it feels insanely hot. Those guns are moving to attack again... There's a big hole in the vent grates, but... now what?
Keikyoku looks at the notes to see where the vents go.
Gibby: "Do we jump in?"
Digifanatic is warming up as well... thank goodness he doesn't have quite as long hair as before (pre-Season 13)... "I don't think we have much other choice."
Metal Man (GM): It looks very hot down there, and seems to go deep inside the machine.
Deloth jumps in.
Metal Man (GM): It immediately becomes too hot inside for Deloth. He catches on fire. Then he hits an air current. *FUMP.* Deloth is launched, flaming, out of the vent. And flying off into the ground.
Gibby: "I take it that didn't work too well."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is near death... the mech ignores him.
Digifanatic: "Now we're stranded."
Metal Man (GM): It appears to go straight into the engine.
Deloth: *moans in pain.*
Dragoshi: *Tries to look for a vent that doesn't appear to go straight into aforementioned engine.* >_>
Metal Man (GM): The mech guns target the people still atop the mech!
Digifanatic: *Good idea, Dragoshi. But first...* *Bleh.*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi find a hatch. It's locked.
Dragoshi: *He checks out what the lock is.*
Digifanatic walks over to Dragoshi and examines the lock.
Metal Man (GM): Like, it's a sliding door, and locked on both edges.
Digifanatic: "Dang it, it's not an electronic lock."
Keikyoku runs over and punches one of the locks.
Dragoshi: *Tries to wedge one of the edges open with his sword...*
Metal Man (GM): The door smashes open!
Dragoshi: "...that works."
Metal Man (GM): There is... a missile is inside it.
Metal Man (GM): The missile is not activated.
Gibby: O_O "Don't... touch... that."
Keikyoku smirks and skates inside.
Metal Man (GM): It must have many missiles in door hatches like this. Keikyoku can't fit inside. The missile blocks the way.
Keikyoku searches for another way inside.
Dragoshi: *Tries to search for another way in that isn't a missile hatch.*
Digifanatic looks for another possible hatch... no missiles, pwease?
Dragoshi: *Nope. Found nothing aside from the usual.*
Metal Man (GM): There is another hatch. This one is unlocked... why, Keikyoku trips on it and it opens, and he falls down inside it. It goes into the cockpit.
Gibby looks down the hatch. "You ok?"
Keikyoku looks for the auto pilot switch.
Dragoshi: *Follows behind Gibby.*
Digifanatic runs to Kei's hatch and goes for the leap of faith in!
Dragoshi: "..." *Jumps in as well because, well... why the hell not.*
Gibby jumps down.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk on in, finding it empty, and the machine obviously on autopilot. The controls are mostly inactive.
Dragoshi: "...Looks like we will be hijacking it."
Deloth continues lying on the ground in severe pain. Wheeeee!
Keikyoku looks for the autopilot switch.
Digifanatic: "Well, shouldn't we just try to shut it off, like it appears Keikyoku's doing, instead of piloting this thing ourselves?"
Gibby: "...I feel like we're missing something." *scratches his head.*
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku find a red button which says 'DO NOT TOUCH' The machine is heading towards the coast, according to these controls. There's a second button. 'Autopilot turn off.'
Keikyoku: "Gibby, come here and press this shiny button."
Digifanatic: "NO, NO, NO."
Gibby: "Hmmm... Well, if you insist." *goes over to the buttons.*
Keikyoku runs to the back of the cockpit.
Digifanatic: "Wait a minute..."
Digifanatic: "He didn't go hyper. Hit the one that says 'Autopilot Turn Off.'"
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM.*
Gibby: "The coffee stuff wore off. Don't worry, I'm fine."
Metal Man (GM): A recorded message plays.
Metal Man (GM): The button errantly explodes. Must have been poorly made.
Metal Man (GM): The recorded message plays.
Gibby: "Welp... no more button."
Dragoshi: "That was... unexpected."
Commander Borne (Recorded): "You're inside the cockpit, but you can't control it from here. Do you think I'd make it work for Eggman if, say, he came to life again? No! Only I have the control to this... and only I know its weakness. On the plus side, whoever you are..." *LOCK* "You get to be imprisoned in here while I figure out if you're just an underpaid worker who poked a button or some sort of hero-types."
Gibby: "Aw crap. It's a trap."
Digifanatic: "I had a feeling the Autopilot Turn Off was a lie." *looks for a windshield or something to break out of.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi see one obvious flaw in this whole plan. The thing that locked is no more sturdier than the missile silo door. Which was... ripped off. Yeah. One would see he wasn't prepared for people like the Questers to break in.
Digifanatic: "That door does not look very strong. Wow..."
Metal Man (GM): In fact, the message must be old, as it is nonspecific... Probably aimed at more mundane people who might be trying to break in. Or Eggman.
Keikyoku punches the door.
Metal Man (GM): The door breaks open... leaving everyone wondering how to stop the thing. No cockpit one can monkey with, a bunch of missiles in their silos, and a giant vent that leads directly to the engine.
Digifanatic: "Hmm... Does anybody have any explosives that adhere to metallic substances..."
Dragoshi: *Checks the cockpit for any SEEKERIT SWITCHES or stuff 'fore exiting. A-yep.* <_>
Metal Man (GM): Oh, there's lots of switches. But none of them are active. Dragoshi flips them up and down. Nothing. The two buttons are obviously fake and easily ripped off the dashboard.
Digifanatic: "I mean, it'd be nice to launch 'asplodies into that vent but if they're gonna get shot out of there like Deloth, that's no good."
Keikyoku wonders if he threw his rusty sharp implement into the engine vent if it would stop it.
Metal Man (GM): Only one way to find out!
Keikyoku skates over to the vent at top speed and throws his implement into the vent as hard as he can.
Metal Man (GM): *CRUNCH* Well, that did... some damage... but it was too small to break the engine. The Questers need bigger! Stronger! Faster, too, as the thing's half-way to the coast now.
Keikyoku runs over to the missile and tries to haul it out and over tho the vent.
Digifanatic follows out. "Kei, where are you going?"
Metal Man (GM): The missile is slowly dragged out of the silo.
Digifanatic: "Do you want help with that?"
Metal Man (GM): Some ripped out stuff follows it.
Dragoshi: *Tries to cast shoot a spike made out of earth into the engine vent while Kei does that.*
Gibby: "That doesn't look safe. Not one bit."
Metal Man (GM): *CRUNK* That dirties it up and causes it to make weird smoke... no destruction though.
Keikyoku shoves the missile headfirst into the vent.
Metal Man (GM): BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM.
Gibby ducks and covers.
Dragoshi: "...that works." *blinks.*
Metal Man (GM): The mech's engine explodes, violently. The machine abruptly kneels on its front legs and dies.
Digifanatic: *He was outside, but fortunately not near the vent as he didn't wind up helping Kei with the missile.*
Metal Man (GM): The cockpit area you were in fills with smoke.
Keikyoku looks for a way to get off the ship safely.
Metal Man (GM): Missile was... skinny, but 1.5 car lengths in size.
Gibby: "...you know Kei, you could at least WARN us before causing massive explosions!"
Metal Man (GM): With the way it is now, one can just slide off.
Dragoshi: "...Either way, Kei still stopped it. Now let's get off this thing and go back to the Echidnas."
Digifanatic: "Yeah. Risky idea in my book but it worked."
Metal Man (GM): The Echidna ship flies over... and lands. The Echidna comes out.
Keikyoku slides off the ship before it collapses.
Gibby: "Oy, fine."
Echidna: "Whew! Had you taken any longer, we would have been toast!"
Dragoshi: "Well, good thing we stopped it."
Digifanatic climbs down as well with the others.
Gibby: "We ran into a couple minor situations, but all's well that ends well I suppose."
Keikyoku: "We rammed its own missile down its gullet."
Gibby heads down.
Deloth: *Still lying in pain!*
Dragoshi: "Now, our next order of business should be... Dealing with those GUN jerks on Angel Island. right?" *As he goes down.*
Keikyoku runs over to Del and drags him to the ship.
Deloth moans and spits out some dirt and broken teeth.
Gibby looks over at Del. "Hey Del, we stopped the machine! Isn't that great?!"
Digifanatic: "I don't think he cares..."
Dragoshi: "He'd prolly' be happier if he wasn't, yanno... In profound pain."
Echidna: "...They've stopped attacking Angel Island."
Digifanatic: "Well, he does care, but that is... not his priority."
Dragoshi: *profound amounts of pain. "...Peculiar."
Echidna: "And they're coming this way!"
Digifanatic: "Awww man."
Dragoshi: "Oh, fun."
Keikyoku drag Del onto the ship "Is there anyway to heal Del on this ship?"
Metal Man (GM): There is a whistling noise. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM. A missile just barely misses the ship.
Keikyoku: "FLY FLY FLY!!!!!!"
Echidna: "...Here, just use this." He chucks a healing item of some sort at Deloth, whom is healed.
Gibby scrambles onto the ship.
Dragoshi: "..." *sighs and quickly gets on the ship.*
Gibby: "I could go for some healing myself."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is at 100% health... the ship begins to fly.
Echidna: "We don't have many... maybe later."
Digifanatic: "I'm not sure if they'd want to use one of those on you, anyway. You look to be in decent shape."
Gibby: "Oh poo..."
Echidna: "Hm. We're being hailed."
Deloth pushes himself back up. "What's IN those things?"
Echidna: "Want to respond?"
Gibby: "I was flattened and shot at. Not exactly in good conditions."
Echidna: "...A very rare form of energy."
Dragoshi: "Sure, why not..."
Keikyoku: "Let me talk to Borne if it's him."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers hear a voice speak...
Deloth rubs some dirt out of his headwings and listens up.
Commander Borne: "So... you disabled the machine. Bravo."
Commander Borne: "Of course, you must know... the machine was a diversion. Why else do you think I wouldn't have it guarded? You are such funny people... As was my untimely demise..."
Deloth: "I KNEW IT! I freaking KNEW IT!"
Dragoshi: "Eh. I had a feeling about that."
Keikyoku: "So that wasn't you who the group fought, coward."
Dragoshi: "...I didn't think it was him, though." >_>
Gibby: "Aw dangit."
Commander Borne: "And now I have something else much more important in my possession. So much so, I will let you leave... the continent, that is. I must thank you. Never have I imagined people who would give me reason to destroy the city I always hated and evict the Echidna threat in one swoop. Indeed. Maybe you can come back after I've rebuilt Westopolis... in a far less shabby way."
Deloth grinds his teeth. "Oh, you are so going to pay, you son of a bitch."
Commander Borne: "Flee to your island and never return to this continent. GUN will stop you should you change your mind."
Keikyoku: "Well if you hate it so much why are you rebuilding it?"
Commander Borne: "Borne out."
Metal Man (GM): *Kzht.* It ends there.
Deloth: "Let's KILL."
Keikyoku: "I agree with Del."
Echidna: "The ships are headed for the mech. There are at least 6 gunships, and only three of ours... they are highly powerful, and shot down all the ones at home base. I am being told I should report to base before they destroy us too..."
Gibby: "To base then!"
Dragoshi: "...Then do so."
Digifanatic: "Borne is going down."
Echidna: "As much as I want him to be dead, I would believe his taunt there was to make us kill ourselves trying to kill him."
Keikyoku: "Well I've always wanted to see the homeland..."
Echidna: *sigh.* "Homeward bound we go."
Metal Man (GM): The ship flies... to the now burning, heavily damaged city the Questers were at before. The hills are still on fire. The area looks like it was excessively shelled. The massive palace building is mostly crumbled. And we pause here. Also, Deloth learns Explode!
