Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 13: The Borne Conclusion
Date: November 7th & 9th, 2008.
Metal Man (GM): Previously, the Questers obtained some weapons and then went back. On their way, they decided to visit a strange power plant. It was so radioactive as to be unapproachable. Flaeyn and Deloth went up to it anyway, meeting a strange man.
Metal Man (GM): The strange man said nothing and wore a helmet. He stared, then blasted Deloth away with a giant fire beam and did something strange to Flaeyn just by looking at him. After a bit of discussion and getting back to Trevor's hideout, the group prepared for the battle against Borne; the plan being to fly in and attack his mech again while Trevor fough Borne directly...
Metal Man (GM): The group is now en route to the Mobius continent. Deloth and the others are in the airship with Marley and the Echidna attendant. It has been patched up, and there are also several first aid kits laying around.
Aribar: "Deloth, we should probably patch you up before we get to Mobius..." *Attempts to apply the materials in the first aid kits to Deloth.*
Metal Man (GM): Aribar picks one up and it heals half Deloth's damage when used. It takes a second one to deal with the rest. All told, there are eight more kits remaining...
Flaeyn: "Lets save the other kits."
Digifanatic: .oO(Ah, one of the new guys again...)
Deloth: "Thank you. Geez, of all the things to encounter down there, it had to be crazy pyromaniacs in radiation zones."
Echidna: "We are... almost there."
Deloth: "Great. Let's go find Borne and turn him into hamburger."
Echidna: "Actually, the rule is for us to take down the mech. Trevor will deal with Borne... supposedly."
Digifanatic: "Aww... ever since we heard about him we wanted to bust Borne's brains out!"
Trevor: *Comms* "All right, I'm getting a visual... lots of people... the mecha... hmmmm... it appears he was anticipating us. Do you want him dead, or do you not? I am an expert assassin."
Aribar: "Do you have any way to contact the other Echidnas before we land? I'm wondering how they're... Holding... Out..." *The half elf's voice drops disgustedly as he hears Trevor give the bad news.*
Digifanatic: "Dead, dead, dead."
Deloth: "As DEAD as someone can possibly be. If possible, do a quick field cremation with a flamethrower."
Echidna: "It'd only tip Borne off."
Trevor: "Hmmm... it's... it's. This."
Metal Man (GM): An image appears, showing a huge amount of soldiers in front of the mech, and no Borne to be seen.
Dragoshi: "...I'd say 'kill him until he dies from it', but... that'd be redun-..."
Trevor: "Where is h---"
Deloth: "...FUCK YOU, BORNE."
Dragoshi: "Welp, can't say I'm surprised."
Borne: *Comms* "Hah! Thought you'd get me! I'll stop you and... your... helicopters?!?!?!?!"
Trevor: *Comms* "I'm afraid I haven't introduced myself. Exposed field regiment, eat lasers."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers fly into the area and see the men with machineguns on the ground being mowed down by Trevor's laser helicopters.
Borne: "What... the... hell?!?!?!"
Dragoshi: .oO(Lasers. It's what's for dinner.) >_>
Borne: "I don't know who you are, but I'm going to kill you all!"
Deloth quickly grins and whoops as he watches. FINALLY, FINALLY, some winning!
Echidna: "The mech is attacking. How should we attack it?"
Metal Man (GM): *FWOOOOSH.* A huge PILLAR OF FIRE immolates a helicopter and damages another. The mech shot it... from its mouth.
Deloth: "...It did NOT have dragon breath the last time."
Aribar stares out the window of the airship in awe...*
Metal Man (GM): The men on the ground pretty much are useless. They run for their lives... the mech can now fire gigantic columns of fire.
Dragoshi: "...Not from the front, for one. Unless you can manage to fire from an angle in which it won't hit us with that flamethrower it gained."
Aribar: "Not... Like those helicopters..."
Trevor: *Comms* "...Uh... I'm going to definitely kill you now."
Borne: *Comms* "I've fought worse than this! You just... are weird!"
Metal Man (GM): The mecha gets up on its hind legs and swipes another mech off the ground.
Dragoshi: "...I don't remember that, either."
Metal Man (GM): It now stands up fully and begins strafing the air with hundreds of thousands of bullets and flak.
Trevor: "Gah! We're taking heavy fire... Questers! Do something!"
Metal Man (GM): The mech itself is being hit by lasers. but it can take every laser Trevor can fire at it, and even some missile hits.
Dragoshi: *Tries to look for a weak spot on it's underside-now-turned-front seeing as it's standing up.* :/
Borne: "I don't need soldiers to kill you! You'll all crash and burn!!!"
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi finds a very hot-looking joint in its jaw.
Aribar: "I've no idea how to destroy something like that... Can we somehow get inside of it and destroy it?"
Dragoshi: "...Aim for the joint in it's jaw!"
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM.* The jaw is cracked. ... The flame jet turns on... And sticks.
Metal Man (GM): Now the entire area is basically being rained upon by fire.
Deloth: "...Nice job breaking it, hero."
Borne: "Yes! You fell for it! Burn!"
Trevor: "Gahhhhh! This man is some sort of mad genius! I'll handle it!"
Flaeyn: "...Abandon ship?"
Echidna: "We're okay..." *The ship shakes.* "...Just a little on fire..."
Dragoshi: "...Not unless you feel like free-falling." :x
Metal Man (GM): The lead helicopter flies directly at the mouth of the mech.
Flaeyn points to his wings.
Aribar: "... Can't you aim for the innards of that machine? Try to shoot into the mouth of the thing?"
Borne: "Hah. You're an idiot." The mech fires a gigantic amount of attacks at Trevor's helicopter... but he's too close.
Dragoshi: *Tries to look for a not-so-loving-obvious weak point...* "I think he'd expect that and counter with something ridiculous..."
Aribar stops saying this as Trevor goes in.
Echidna: "Aye aye!" He begins firing... so do the helicopters... but the armor is insanely thick.
Trevor: "In my home land, machine guns only hit people so far away before they stop working right. Also, it is obvious you are controlling this mech. So."
Metal Man (GM): The helicopter lands right on the head of the mecha and begins firing. Point blank.
Borne: "What kind of propulsion lets you--*KHZTK* ARGH!!!"
Metal Man (GM): The machine swipes at its own face, knocking Trevor's helicopter off, but also destroying its flame nozzle, which is now just a flame exhaust, and also melting that 'paw' a lot. The other helicopters shoot it some and move to pick up Trevor's helicopter.
Trevor: "Gah! You... finish the job, Questers. He's not too strong!"
Deloth: "Yes, sir!"
Borne: "You call yourself a group, and you hire weird people to attack me? You're nothing!"
Metal Man (GM): The two-legged thing walks at the Questers, its head on fire and melted.
Dragoshi: "Well, then you're less than nothing!"
Digifanatic: "Well, we call it strategy."
Echidna: "Uhhh... what are we going to do? We can't really find a weak point... Perhaps we should land on it?"
Deloth: "Try firing into its mouth. We'll land and scout there."
Dragoshi: "...I'd say fire at the legs to see if it's top-heavy the way it is..."
Digifanatic: "I like that idea."
Aribar: "As long as we don't accidentally land on that exhaust..."
Echidna: "Right!" *Bam bam bam.*
Metal Man (GM): The head explodes. It's still coming at the Questers.
Flaeyn: "...Well that's pleasent."
Borne: "Did you really think I'd put all the critical systems there?"
Dragoshi: "...Not really, no."
Borne: "Take this!" It hurls its entire left arm at the Questers' ship!!!
Digifanatic: "Dear GODS!"
Dragoshi: "Hoo boy..."
Metal Man (GM): The ship spins around like a pinball, most systems being knocked offline. The enemy mech has only one arm, but it is now moving in for the kill.
Borne: "I rebuilt this to my specifications. You may have killed 1/3 of all my men, but I'll make you pay for all of them!"
Deloth narrows his eyes, determining how close the mech is.
Aribar: "Gaah!" *Aribar hangs onto his seat for his dear life!*
Digifanatic just stands in DA CHOPPA!, staring down the mecha... he looks very determined.
Echidna: "We have enough juice for one more thing. Speak quickly, I think it may shoot at us again!"
Metal Man (GM): The mech is... 40 feet away, horizontally, and getting closer very fast.
Flaeyn: "Retribution... huh?!" He gets tossed around the ship a lot.
Deloth: "Get us down to it! We have to take it down on foot or this whole thing's a bust!"
Dragoshi: "Since I doubt we have enough time to see if it's top-heavy... Try to land on it. We might as well go deep..."
Digifanatic: "Yeah. Ground game."
Echidna: "Okay..." The ship veers out of the way, just in time to miss a heavy burst of machinegun fire.
Dragoshi: "...Or we could land on the leg." :x
Borne: "Trying to run away? You can't fool me!" It turns to face the Questers, but it runs out of turning radius. "...I knew I should have given this thing zero degree turning radius."
Flaeyn: "Lets try the head... We'll drill our way into the skull with our weapons?"
Dragoshi: "...I doubt that'll work."
Marley: "It sort of... has no skull. We blew it up."
Dragoshi: "That too."
Metal Man (GM): It fires some more, dealing damage, but the ship lands on its left shoulder.
Flaeyn: "...Right." He said, remembering.
Metal Man (GM): The ramp to get out drops.
Deloth: "We'll just have to slice through it, then."
Echidna: "Hurry! It's likely to counter-attack!"
Dragoshi: *Abandon ship, abandon ship!*
Deloth jumps out and lands in a crouch before whipping out both swords.
Borne: "You really think you can get aboard my mech this time? I'll throw you down and stomp you!"
Flaeyn falls backwards into the exit, using his wings to provide an easy drop out.
Metal Man (GM): The mech jolts to the right, flinging the ship completely off as the Questers bail. It then tries to abruptly get on all fours so as to cause everyone to fall off.
Aribar leaps out of the ship and then tries the best that the elf can to hang on!
Metal Man (GM): So far, the Questers' luck is pretty good. Aribar shows his amazing failure skills and flies off the mecha. However the rest of the Questers are still on it... which only distracts Borne further.
Deloth: "...I, uh... sort of saw that coming."
Dragoshi: "Same..." *Quickly tries to search for a not-so-obvious entrance while Borne's distracted...*
Deloth gets back to attempting to crack through the mech's skin. Let's try an Antipode!
Metal Man (GM): Aribar falls, but he is caught--by a helicopter. He's out of the picture... but only for the moment. Dragoshi finds the cockpit hatch from last time.
Flaeyn: "Watch as it's now an entrance to the furnace, and it spews flames at you when you open it..."
Aribar thanks the pilot of the helicopter. The mage watches the others mill about on the mech and wonders what he can do to help..*
Dragoshi: "...Anyone got any grenades?" *Motions over to the hatch.* "I plan on throwing one down there..."
Deloth: "I can explode things with my mind. That work for you?"
Dragoshi: "...sure, why not."
Deloth ducks away from his explosion and runs over to Drag, still crouched down.
Dragoshi: *Prepares to pry open the hatch with his sword...*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi pries it open. A sign pops up... 'Another quality GUN booby trap.'
Deloth: *Getting away from there!*
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM* It throws shrapnel everywhere. Dragoshi dodges.
Dragoshi: "...I had a feeling..."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is thrown on his back by it.
Dragoshi: *Continues his for an entrance that isn't a silo... or, yanno... similar to the cockpit entrance.* :x
Deloth groans and gets back to his feet, various pieces of metal now sticking out of his limbs.
Metal Man (GM): Flaeyn dodges. Dragoshi eventually finds the real entrance. Which... It was hidden right under the booby-trap.
Flaeyn gracefully dodges, in comparison to Deloth.
Metal Man (GM): Had Dragoshi not been so lucky, he'd have never found it. The mech buckles again.
Deloth goes there! Double-time!
Borne: "I'll just have to ROLL OVER!"
Metal Man (GM): The mech begins to move sideways... wow, the ground looks painful.
Digifanatic: *heads in.*
Deloth then dives for the side the INSTANT he's in.
Flaeyn tries following after them, jumping in as well.
Metal Man (GM): Everyone avoids being thrown into the walls, but they all trip on the stairs and dogpile one another.
Dragoshi: *Quickly gets up.*
Metal Man (GM): At the bottom of the stairs there is a force field separating the Questers from Borne, who is in control of the machine. He stands up, looking at the Questers from the other side.
Flaeyn pushes Deloth off him, and then would spread out his wings, stretching. "What a pain..."
Borne: "I don't know why you keep trying. I can just blow this up and kill you all for good, right now."
Deloth gets back to his feet and shoots a glare at Flaeyn before looking at Borne.
Dragoshi: "And you'd prolly' have some ass-pull maneuver that'd prevent yourself from sharing the same fate, right?"
Flaeyn: "Wouldn't you... die as well?"
Borne: "If it kills you, I wouldn't care what it did to me. You're the next Eggmen, I know it! You bring in those strange people and enslave Echidnas to do your bidding."
Deloth: "You DO realize that we can survive damn near everything."
Dragoshi: "...actually, no. Not really. You're kinda missing the point."
Digifanatic: "You know nothing."
Dragoshi: "...in the most hilariously awful way imaginable. add to it... Even if you did do your suicide maneuver... You'd be the only one in pieces." :x "And prolly' meaty chunks at that."
Deloth: "First of all, Eggman's an ass. Second, the Echidnas aren't enslaved, they joined by choice. Third, we can REVIVE, you moron."
Flaeyn: "...?" He just raises a brow at Dragoshi, not really getting what he's getting at.
Borne: "Hm." He thinks. "So. If I were to kill you here and now. You'd revive. So..." He gets an interesting look on his face. "You've told me your greatest strength... and your greatest weakness."
Flaeyn: "Oh god don't say yes..." He mutters to the others, even if he could be revived, he thinks that'll be used--
Borne: "And to think, I had planned to do something which might kill myself."
Deloth casually starts walking up the steps, one sword in the hands, one in the tentacles.
Dragoshi: "...Then again, we could be lying... Who knows?"
Metal Man (GM): He stands behind his field, contemplating.
Borne: "You are like a certain life form... Shadow. Yes..."
Deloth: "That freak of nature? Not likely."
Digifanatic: "All the enigma, none the arrogance."
Deloth: "Shadow was a nutcase with guns and a severe chemical imbalance."
Borne: "You are nigh unkillable..." He smirks. "But if knocked unconscious, you can be sealed in a cryogenic tube and forgotten!"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, and none the chemical imbalance, too."
Borne: "You must be referring to the wrong one. The one I know was killed by re-entry to the atmosphere."
Deloth glances at that field.
Metal Man (GM): It is the same one as the one encountered at the GUN base.
Deloth: "Please, Borne, you're pathetic. You refuse to see other possibilities."
Borne: "No... I see what you are now."
Metal Man (GM): He flips the controls. The machine begins moving.
Deloth grins. An evil, slightly psychotic smile begins to spread over his face. "You're nothing but a mote of dust on our radar."
Dragoshi: "I don't think you do, but go on..."
Flaeyn: "Watch as we get caught up in some energy-sucking machine or something..."
Borne: "A pity. I don't have any weapons on me. Or do I?"
Metal Man (GM): He rips out a lever from the machine... a very thick one.
Dragoshi: "I wouldn't be surprised either way..."
Digifanatic: .oO(He does.)
Metal Man (GM): It's... a large metal object with a blunt edge and a sharp one, like a crowbar... but there's a knob on one end. He holds it by the ball end of the lever and takes a stance. He's still wearing those weird metal plates around his arms and body, and the classic GUN commander hat.
Borne: "So, all I have to do is knock you out, and then I can be rid of you forever. That's a lot simpler than I thought. And mark my words... I will reverse-engineer what revives you..."
Deloth wonders if he can cast Explode on that console said lever came from...
Dragoshi: *Sighs... And gets ready to steal the crowbarmace once he exits the barrier, though he stays wary, just in case Borne has some other idea...*
Metal Man (GM): He smacks the force field. It phases out.
Borne: "Consider yourselves... GUN property."
Aribar continues to sit in the helicopter and watches the battle continue. However, he does continuously glance back at the mecha wishes the others luck on their quest to end Borne...
Metal Man (GM): Aribar see Trevor being bandaged up. They're planning to attack the mecha soon. It's... heading towards Capital City. Borne glances at the Questers.
Borne: "I know who to worry about, now." He hefts the lever up--it's a bit shorter than he is--then goes to slam the sharp end on Deloth.
Aribar heads to the pilot of the helicopter and asks him, "Can you get me to Trevor? If I can't help my own group, I would like to try and help the rest of the battle."
Pilot: "We're looking to see the best way to reach it..."
Deloth casually spin-steps out of the way.
Metal Man (GM): Borne then lifts it up slightly, and sweeps it at the Questers. Dragoshi takes some more damage on top of the beating.
Dragoshi: *Wham! Straight in the face!*
Metal Man (GM): Flaeyn dodges.
Deloth gets clipped in the leg. No biggie.
Aribar: "My friends were able to temporarily land our airship on the machine, but as you saw, it was swatted away... If you could disable the second arm somehow, it would probably be easy to get onto the mecha and attack it."
Pilot: "Yes... it may be best to try to disable the entire mecha, since then Trevor can finish off this Borne person."
Digifanatic consumes a Health Tonic and then goes to try and disarm Borne?
Metal Man (GM): Digi disarms him. He smirks.
Borne: "I'll just use my ENTIRE ARM, then."
Metal Man (GM): The lever is knocked away by Digi.
Deloth: "Might as well. It didn't do much when you hit me in the face with it."
Metal Man (GM): However, he is ready to use his entire arm... which looks heavier than the lever... and has that armor on it.
Digifanatic then just walks back to the group, lever in hand--"Anybody want to try it?"--and stares down Borne... he holds his ground for now, but at least he took away a blunt object.
Deloth looks impassively at Borne before casting Explode on that arm. Armor destruction is fine, an ulna is even better!
Metal Man (GM): Deloth blasts it. He winces. But the armor is tougher than his flesh and the explosion.
Borne: "You and your dirty tricks!"
Dragoshi: "...All's fair in war and kicking the shit out of you..."
Deloth grins. "Thank you, that's the biggest compliment I've gotten in a while."
Dragoshi: "Sure, it may be metaphorical kicking, but who cares?" :/
Deloth: *Another Explode. Borne's right eye.* *It's the Failure-mail order spell school!*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth causes Borne's itchy eye to no longer itch.
Borne: "I was getting tired of that eye itching..."
Dragoshi: "..." *blink-ku.*
Deloth: *Ah, well.*
Borne: "I haven't seen this other person before. What do you do, recruit people off the street?"
Deloth: "Does this LOOK like someone off the street?"
Dragoshi: *Doesn't answer and waits for Flaeyn to do something.*
Borne: "...Sort of. I've seen people who look similar. ...You pick weird people though."
Flaeyn: "Haven't seen combat in awhile..." He twists his body back, his left arm clasped on his right and his right knuckle starts cracking, like it were marble being shattered with light reaching out of the crevices. "Fool. This is the will of the gods!" He would then burst forward, trying to take out Borne quickly.
Borne: "I don't answer to---" Flaeyn hits him smack in the face as he falls over.
Dragoshi: "Don't answer to what? A fist in your face?"
Metal Man (GM): How iiiinteresting.
Flaeyn's fist returns to normal, and ends.
Metal Man (GM): Borne flies backwards into the panels, which zap him for more damage. He gets up, smoking somewhat.
Borne: "I should have seen that one coming."
Dragoshi: "...thanks for cooking him a little."
Flaeyn: "It's all your's..."
Dragoshi: *With that comment out of the way, Dragoshi does some sort of side-to-side dance steps before spinning around once and stopping. He then claps twice, and points his hand at Borne like a gun, and imitates firing motions which results in Borne... getting zapped with lightning twice, in hopes of his armor electrocuting the guy? What?* (Ele x2)
Metal Man (GM): His armor doesn't zap him, but he takes some damage.
Borne: "I see what cards you have..."
Deloth looks around impassively. "I do see quite a few kings and aces."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar watches Trevor's goons firing up the helicopters.
Borne: "I'll just have to use my superior arm motions. I just didn't want to damage your bodies too much... but you forced me!"
Dragoshi: .oO(I call ace of spades.) >_>
Metal Man (GM): His arms clack. They're apparently being assisted by servos, allowing him to punch really fast.
Dragoshi: *oh no! Not superior arm motions!*
Metal Man (GM): Speaking of that, he leaps up and immediately goes to punch Deloth so hard, his head could fly off.
Aribar is still as prepared as he was before. The mage simply waits for them to move out.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is knocked backwards into the stairs.
Borne: "You think you're so hot? Let's try this!"
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a grenade... in the small hallway... and hurls it straight down. BOOM.
Metal Man (GM): Threatens all. Even Borne. Borne is hit.
Dragoshi: *Damn. So close.*
Deloth: *Well... at least Borne's not gonna have much of a corpse to reverse-engineer.*
Aribar remembers his flak jacket and puts it on.
Borne: *He is smoking.* "...Yes. Now I can easily kill the rest of you."
Dragoshi: "...good thing I invest in that jacket." >_>;;
Dragoshi: *Still in good health. :p*
Flaeyn: *Is sorta halved.* :/
Digifanatic decides to NOW take one of his Health Tonics... and he goes for a Fire Punch where it counts! Cause he's cool and wants to listen to Deloth like that!
Metal Man (GM): Digi hits him in the crotch. Good news: It deals damage. Bad news: There's an armor plate there, which deals damage to Digi's hand.
Digifanatic: "Well, it was worth it, cause I imagine Deloth wanted to do that..."
Dragoshi: *Just sways back and forth slightly... A-yep.*
Flaeyn would rush in to try grabbing Borne by the collar, and starts sucking his soul with SOUL REAVER, attempting to drain energy.
Metal Man (GM): Hit. His soul is quite horrible to taste, and feels tainted. He has so little that it seems difficult to get energy from him.
Dragoshi: *And then... Dragoshi suddenly charges at Borne, sword ready, attempting to tear into the guy.*
Metal Man (GM): He steps aside easily.
Dragoshi: *And then, Dragoshi takes out a Kama and tries to hurl it at Borne's face...*
Metal Man (GM): He's hit... in the face. Aribar sees the helicopter takes off. They're about to the city...
Borne: "Although you are entertaining to harm, the truth is that I have repelled your helicopter fleet and you are injured by me as it is. I cannot let you damage my control to this land, and since I am at this town which is mine, I can simply leave and fight you again, prepared for your little... friends... as well."
Dragoshi: *Has only taken damage from the LOL STAIRS.* >_>
Aribar just sits back until he has a chance to make a difference. He wonders what will be left of Mobius after this battle, how the place will recover, how the other Questers are faring against Borne... He is also nice and warm in his flak jacket.
Borne: "I shall be leaving you now." He kicks a button and WHOOSH! The cockpit flies out with him, leaving the Questers in the machine...
Dragoshi: "...And I am not surprised."
Metal Man (GM): ...His escape pod is in direct crosshairs of the helicopter Aribar is in.
Pilot: "...You know magic spells, right? There's... your foe... the laser guns are damaged. If you have any spells, please... use them."
Borne: *In the pod.* "Heh... heh..." *He looks out the window.* "..."
Aribar: "... What a perfect opportunity." *gets to the doors of the chopper and unsheathes his sword. He points it at the escape pod...*
Metal Man (GM): Borne is quickly taking out a grenade to get away. Better hurry!
Aribar: *Electricity crackles about the archmage and focuses upon his blade. In an instance four beams of electricity pierce the sky, and Borne's escape pod!*
Metal Man (GM): The pod is blasted. As it malfunctions and is about to careen, Borne grab a radio.
Borne: *Crackly Radio.* "You haven't won! I'll--" *CRASH* *EXPLODE.*
Metal Man (GM): The pod hits the ground and is basically exploded to bits. With a large portion of his men dead, and his mech ruined...
Aribar turns to the pilot. "Take us down near that crash site. It needs to be confirmed that he's... No longer a threat..."
Metal Man (GM): The others can see this from the huge hole in the mech.
Pilot: "Yes sir."
Metal Man (GM): The helicopter flies down to the crashed spot. There's a chair... and some shrapnel... there's a piece of an armor plate he wore on his arm. The mech's dead and slumped over here.
Dragoshi: *Climbs down, and approaches Ari. He then proceeds to search for Borne's corpse.*
Flaeyn heavenly drops to the ground using his wings again for a slow descend, and also searches.
Digifanatic: *cautiously climbs out... he is not convinced yet either.*
Aribar hops out of the copter and over to the crash site... The half-elf feels as if he has to ensure that Borne is gone...
Metal Man (GM): The Questers a trail of footprints and blood. Even though the thing exploded, Borne is slowly limping away.
Dragoshi: *Pursues in that direction, blade drawn. He will have Borne's head, god dammit.*
Digifanatic follows the blood and footprints. He is not gonna get away from this one, mercifully or not.
Flaeyn readies his hand with God Hand. "Any last words?" He says grimly.
Metal Man (GM): Borne turns around, seeing the Questers chasing him. He stops and faces them quite calmly.
Borne: "Well. I guess I can't kill you. But I can stop you from killing me."
Aribar sees Dragoshi chase after Borne. He sees the others go after him as well. The mage just stands back and doesn't bother to pursue...
Digifanatic: "It better be a justifiable reason."
Dragoshi: *Will try to tear into Borne before he tries to be cute...*
Metal Man (GM): He dodges, and takes out a huge gun. He aims for Dragoshi's neck.
Dragoshi: *Gets shot in the neck, apparently.*
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi takes heavy damage and falls over. Borne slumps over to an extent, the gun having almost thrown him entirely backwards.
Dragoshi: *Falls over... still alive.*
Borne: "I have... the key to Eggman's failed weapon... If you... kill me... the Eggman... will return..."
Digifanatic: "And you know this because? "
Borne: "My father... stopped the Eggman... he was killed... but he gave me the key... he said... if we all died... then... so would all the people on this continent..."
Dragoshi: "...How was he killed? Or do you not know that?"
Flaeyn: "Just a petty excuse for scum like you to keep on living. Hmph."
Metal Man (GM): He stands up, coughing.
Aribar hesitantly walks towards Borne so that he can stand with the others. He listens to Borne's story and wonders what sort of final trick the soldier has up his sleeve.*
Borne: "The... my... father was one of the many generals to kill Eggman... you wonder... where the Sonic people are... They are looking for Eggman's last projects... the Eggman swore to destroy... the world... His machines went rogue when... he died... my father tamed some of them... hence the mech... He was the supervising officer who caught Metal Sonic..."
Digifanatic: "But if Eggman was killed, how might he be revived?"
Dragoshi: .oO(You know... it would've been nice to hear the full story earlier.) *Just listens...* "Who says he has to be revived...?"
Digifanatic: "He said the Eggman will return. Which, I believe, implied some form of revival--but I may be wrong."
Dragoshi: "Maybe not the same Eggman. Maybe a different guy under the same alias... but, who knows?" *Glances at Borne.* :/
Flaeyn'd so go, 'I told you so' if he did.
Borne: "..." He smirks and hurls his gun to the ground. "Well. I guess you are the new Avengers."
Metal Man (GM): He opens his sleeve up and takes out a simple badge. It shows the Eggman logo being smashed by a fist.
Dragoshi: *Sighs.* "From one fire..." *Stretches.* "And into another. Heh..."
Aribar: "This could all have been avoided if you were diplomatic, Borne."
Borne: "Our code was to never induct another unless they had shown themselves ready of fighting the Eggman."
Dragoshi: "...I see."
Borne: "If I had told you this, you wouldn't have gone at me like you did. Furthermore, I still want you all dead." He waves a horribly wounded arm. "But you bested me. But I just had to tell you this so that..." He tosses the badge to the Questera as he then takes out a grenade. "My death would not allow him to return. I am sorry if I am incoherent... you gave me a pretty much lethal head injury..."
Dragoshi: "...Eh. No problem." *Catches the badge... and downs a tonic, knowing what's coming next.*
Digifanatic runs away a little bit.
Borne: "If you are so great, then... find the Eggman, if he really supposedly is alive... and deal with him yourself!"
Digifanatic: "Well, as long as the Eggman isn't among ourselves, we can do that..."
Dragoshi: *healed slightly.* "Fine... We will."
Metal Man (GM): He explodes, leaving no trace. Disintegrated.
Digifanatic: "Well, it's kinda over now..."
Metal Man (GM): There's a piece of his hat on the wall, maybe a finger stuck in a window. Trevor comes over. He came just a little too soon. There's blood all over him from that explosion.
Dragoshi: *Shakes his head as he looks around and sees the end result of this chaos...*
Trevor: "What a nut."
Aribar stands still for several moments. He is silent and trying to figure out what Borne wanted.*
Trevor: "Is it true there are more nuts out there, with even stupider names?"
Flaeyn: "What an idiot..." He grabs the piece of his hat, tucking it into his pocket. "Makes a lovely souvenir."
Dragoshi: "... Hahahahahahahaaaaa..." *Starts laughing, but stops.* "You have no idea..."
Digifanatic: "A shower sounds like a niiiiice idea right now."
Trevor: "Well. I lost some of my men, but his guys were stupid. You did the rest. Our deal is complete."
Trevor: "I shall go back home... and you? Well. Your friends are here. Good luck."
Digifanatic: "I guess so. Thanks, Trevor..." .oO(As long as you aren't the Eggman/Robotnik...)
Metal Man (GM): Marley and the Echidna guy and the ship they're on land nearby. It's got a gigantic hole in it, but. Marley claps slowly.
Dragoshi: "...we might as well start by rebuilding this place. ...somehow. ...after gathering whoever's left to help."
Marley: "Well, you took down the son of an Eggman-killer. I guess the civilian GUN can restore peace now. ...Remind me, what were you going to do with GUN and the Echidnas?"
Digifanatic: *turns to Flaeyn.* "And by the way, I'm Ian. Welcome to the group if you choose to make this permanent."
Marley: "That David Hale guy will be here shortly. We'll be overseeing the rebuilding effort. And of course, whatever it is that was so dog-gonned important..."
Metal Man (GM): He looks at the crater where Borne was.
Dragoshi: "...say. What was that idea ya had again, Marley? I kinda forgot it after all that chaos started..."
Marley: "Tsk tsk tsk... raised by a maniac, die like a maniac. I dunno. You had the idea, I just went with ya. Maybe I had an idea, but I was distracted by the explosions. Haven't done this much excitement in years."
Aribar sighs. The tired fighter is having thoughts that always occur after their victories; was there a better solution? Was there a way to solve a problem without total eradication?
Dragoshi: "...I meant before the explosions. Way before the explosions. Like when we recently got back here and this place wasn't kersploded. But, eh... I'll remember it eventually. I think."
Flaeyn: "Flaeyn fui Lethe. I'll stay with the group, for now until Heaven calls."
Digifanatic: "Neat name, dude."
Marley: "Uh... yeah. If you want to clean up, go to the GUN building. And take... this."
Metal Man (GM): He hands the badge to Dragoshi.
Marley: "It's a key! The highest priority one."
Dragoshi: *Casually takes the badge. Dragoshi now has 1, 2, two badges! Ah! Ah! Ah!*
Marley: "Just don't hog it, you all earned it."
Flaeyn: "Hm. Thank you."
Marley: "Of course. You're not diplomats, so. We'll take care of the boring politics."
Dragoshi: "No prob. I'll make sure not to." *Chuckles, then coughs a little bit.*
Digifanatic: "Thanks... heh."
Digifanatic is definitely going to head to the GUN building--way too exhausted and such to keep going the way he is. :P
Metal Man (GM): A little later... Trevor mysteriously flew off with all his helicopters after the battle, explaining he had done his part of the deal he made with the Questers. The Questers are now in the meeting room of the GUN tower, with the remnants of GUN after the huge battle. This all started when the Questers helped the Echidna take over Westopolis, causing this Commander Borne to go nuts, overthrow civilian rule, and destroy Westopolis.
Deloth: "I can't believe he killed me AGAIN... dammit, which one of you people is giving me bad luck?"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are in the room now, with David Hale, Marley... and a white Echidna, one of the ones who had been assisting the Questers.
Digifanatic: "Not it."
Metal Man (GM): David Hale is the GUN man the group originally spoke with about this a while ago.
David Hale: "Congratulations on your work against the... crazed terrorist Borne. Unfortunately, he has caused immense damage to our continent. Westopolis is a pile of rubbish, Capital City is experiencing martial law and the second GUN base was all but destroyed when he fought us off from it... And supposedly this Commander Borne warned of Eggman's return?"
Aribar stiffly stands near the rest of the Questers and listens to their little conference. He nods at David's question.*
Deloth: "The man IS a total nutcase. I wouldn't worry too much."
Marley: "I have volunteered to join with GUN again... my er, friend, wasn't so excited."
David Hale: "Of course he wasn't. He told me he would prefer if all the people on this continent had died... but you can't blame him, he's crazy."
David Hale: "Anyway, he gave you a badge..."
Flaeyn: "...Oh yeah." He says, just remembering about the badge. He pulls it out. "Hm?"
David Hale: "...That explains an entire floor of extremely secret Eggman projects his father had stolen."
Deloth: "The one we saw while I was there?"
David Hale: "I think so."
David Hale: "Oh. I found one of your friends. He had become lost earlier."
Deloth: "...it's not Kei, is it?"
Aribar: "Who did you find?"
Metal Man (GM): The elevator opens. No, it's not Kei. It's that guy the group saw earlier. At about the same time as Kei.
Deloth breathes a sigh of relief and looks at the new guy.
David Hale: "Anyway... the question is... what do you people as a group wish to do?"
Digifanatic: "Hmmm... oh yeah... I think I remember him once or twice."
Michael Kent steps slowly into the room, glancing behind him at the elevator that brought him up before letting his eyes scan over the people in the room...
Metal Man (GM): It's an office room with a large table and many chairs... Glass windows facing the outside; normal walls on the inside parts. A corner office. Meeting room of sorts.
Deloth: *tiredly.* "For me? Retire, if I could actually do anything EXCEPT grind people into the ground."
Michael Kent: "...heathens."
Deloth: "And get my face kicked in by crazy generals in mechas."
Aribar mutters a greeting to Kent while thinking about David's question.
Michael Kent spits this word as if it were something vile, glaring slightly...
Marley: "Well, I heard you people came from somewhere else... Could you even get back there?"
Deloth glances at the new person. "You talking to us or them? Considering our ride here was a book, I doubt it."
Michael Kent: "It's pretty much a general term these days..."
Aribar: "I... Have no idea how we even go about leaving this world."
David Hale: *He clears his throat.* "Well, I doubt you can. I think you like to see other continents, yes?"
David Hale: "Because... perhaps there is one more close to your hearts, if this one is... not your kind of place. First, tell me the ones you have seen."
Deloth: "Heck, maybe I'll find a whole PLACE filled with crazy biological mashups just like me. Maybe even a whole SCHOOL for them!" *rolls his eyes.*
David Hale: "Well, you're sort of in the right place. But by your expression, you wouldn't want to know the other questionable people who live on this continent."
Aribar: "We've been here, to a place called Mushroom Kingdom, and to... The continent of the benefactor of our last battle, Trevor. Contania or something like that..."
Deloth: "My apologies. I'm just highly irritated by not knowing even what I am now."
David Hale: "Hmm... I've never turned our sensors to that place."
Deloth: "Hell, I've forgotten my real age by now, too, what with the transformations and the revivals and all."
Marley: "GUN has sensors?"
David Hale: "Used to see what's in the air, mostly. Used against Robotnik, normally."
Metal Man (GM): He looks to Michael Kent, wondering if he has any suggestions...
Michael Kent: "...I... you wish to leave this place?"
Aribar: "We don't exactly belong here."
Deloth: "So. Would any of those questionable people happen to look a lot like me? If not... I'm not interested."
Aribar: "... Of course, I don't know where we belong..."
Michael Kent: *eyes Deloth, glaring slightly.* "You are quite self absorbed."
David Hale: "The others here apparently came from another world, much like you... er, your name?" *He looks to Kent.*
Marley: "Really, this group has no permanent leader, so if anyone has any ideas on what should be done, they should speak up."
Deloth: *not even looking over.* "And you're a stuck-up ass. Nobody's perfect."
Michael Kent: "Michael Kent. High Paladin of Heironeous. And you would do well to hold your tongue, less you anger me."
Aribar: "I feel as if the most responsible action for us to do would be to stay in Mobius for a while and try to clean up after the mess we have made..."
Michael Kent: "A noble action. Word of your... deeds... has spread somewhat in the last few days."
Deloth: "What, us killing a madman that would have destroyed the entire continent? I hope so."
Aribar gives a short nod before moving his glance to the ground. The mage isn't very proud of what they've done.
David Hale: "Well, first, I want to know about him." He points to a silent echidna on the other side of the table.
Michael Kent: "I came here to see these rebels in the flesh and to see if you needed to be judged... all of you." *turns his gaze to the creature... raising his eyebrow slowly.*
David Hale: "In the scant records Borne took, he went on forever about Echidnas, but I have yet to see them as evil. Or... anything, really. They did take over a city though. Too bad he destroyed the evidence. Now I can't know who was the aggressor."
Echidna: "The... Questers, as they call themselves... wanted to create a treaty for us to rule this continent together in a democracy of some sort."
David Hale: "Well, if that's what they want, I have no choice but to accept, if they truly want that. GUN is too weak to fight them if they should disagree... although I believe it is a bit strange you would take interest to the mainland after abandoning it, thousands of years ago."
Metal Man (GM): He looks to the Questers for their two cents.
Aribar looks up to Hale and the echidna.* "I recall making that suggestion to the echidnas on their island... At the time it seemed like a peaceful solution to dissolve the tension between them and GUN. Now, however..."
Michael Kent: "Things have changed..."
Echidna: "Well. We helped to deal with Borne, so it should continue as we spoke... equal rule. As neither of us alone is enough to police the continent... anymore."
Marley: "Well... if the Questers agree."
Aribar shrugs.* "I wouldn't want anything to transpire in this meeting because 'we're stronger than you.' Your two nations share very close borders it seems; I would like to see you gentlemen try to find a diplomatic and peaceful way to to maintain relations between each other, though."
Deloth shakes his head. "All I want is a little peace for once..."
David Hale: "Well. They helped destroy Borne... I can trust them, I guess. The real question is... that strange man and his helicopters. He ignored all radio calls and flew straight to the other continent."
Aribar: "We barely know more about him than you do. He's named Trevor. He is leading some sort of rag-tag rebellion against a group of technology-controlling Federals. He agreed to help us if we... Supplied him with some transportation knowledge."
Deloth: "...There is still one loose end here."
David Hale: "They apparently are very smart. Our own airships couldn't follow them if we wanted them to. Borne's IQ tests are up in the highest percentile, and they basically destroyed him."
Deloth bites his lip, not sure whether to mention the nut at the power plant or not...
David Hale: "I am unsure if supplying them with technology will bode well with... Contania???"
Aribar: "The place is practically in a civil war it seemed like. There was a very tense truce between the two factions when we were there."
David Hale: "Perhaps we should concentrate there? GUN can handle cleaning up the continent. As can our new unlikely allies."
Echidna: "...Er... of course."
David Hale: "Of course, we can't know what's going on there without flying out there first..."
Deloth: "...So, know any good vacation spots around here?"
David Hale: "Well, the beach... but it's not developed. There is an island... Christmas island. Very pretty. Quiet. Jack could take you there on his boat."
Deloth: *tiredly.* "Will I have to kill anyone to get to it? And will I have to kill anyone when I get ON it?"
David Hale: "It's an abandoned island. Not likely."
Deloth: "Most excellent."
David Hale: "But do your friends want to come? And... well, I don't particularly care about 'Contania' either..."
Echidna: "We were blocking the way to the Mushroom Kingdom during our raid, but otherwise... we do not care either."
Deloth takes a long, deep breath, then... "Look. Guys, I don't mind whether you come or not. But I'm getting tired of being shot in the chest with grenades, thrown down stairs, shot through trains, blasting myself into walls, and being an unholy freak of nature. I really, really want a break. I NEED a break."
Metal Man (GM): The elevator opens up. Jack wanders in.
Deloth then holds up two fingers. "I am THIS CLOSE to losing it with day after day of people attacking us every time we want to get a sandwich. When we sleep. When we do ANYTHING."
Jack: "Well, I like solitude, but you guys are doing something important, and I wanted to see. Although I still dislike being surrounded by people." *Turns to Deloth.* "Ah. A man after my own heart."
Deloth slams his fist into the wall, a wild and desperate look in his eyes. "Please. I'm begging you. LET ME LEAVE. It won't be for forever."
Jack: "Well, I can go with you to... I heard something about an island. I don't know about your friends, though. They seem very silent."
David Hale: "I'm not the boss of any of you, in fact it's sort of hard to work with all of you wandering around..."
Deloth: "...Jack, get the boat ready. I've got to get out of this life for a while."
Jack: "Okay. Of course, you may want to say a little more to your friends..." He walks off.
