Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 16: Statue Travelogue
Date: November 14th & 16th, 2008.
Metal Man (GM): The massive army of skeletons, Eggrobos, and Eggrobo-human skeleton chimeras continue to stand in the way.
Dragoshi: *Switches out his scythe for his sword, and attempts to slash one of the chimeras with it.*
Metal Man (GM): Miss. The army glows menacingly. They charge at all of you, swinging wildly!
Digifanatic: *Is hit.*
Metal Man (GM): The army remains quite strong, and in fact attacks Dragoshi twice. Two GUN skeletons shoot at him. Their luck is more random this time.
Dragoshi: *Takes more damage. What a surprise!*
Digifanatic stares down the army, not quiiiiite sure what to do... so he'll try Icy Kick to Fire Punch.
Metal Man (GM): Miss, ultra hit.
Deloth singles out two robots in the army, if possible, and pops them both with Explode.
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* *BLAM*
Julian tries to grab one of the surrounding skeletons by its non-existant collar.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Julian: *GRAB! Julian knocks throw it to the ground, grabs it by the legs, and swings it into the oncomming horde! Grapple -> Giant Swing!*
Dragoshi: *In any case, Dragoshi attempts to tear apart the army with a couple of well-placed sword slashes.*
Metal Man (GM): The mass only attacks once, going for Julian with an Eggrobo punch.
Julian: *Oh Snap!*
Digifanatic doesn't think about healing yet at this point... so instead he tries two Icy Kicks... here goes the first... And wait a minute, something odd about that second. Hang on a folks, that's not ice. That's fire...*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Digifanatic: "Whoa... I can do that trick again!" .oO(Took me a bit to regain that, but hey, it's handy.)
Deloth: *I'mma go with double sword slashes instead. For now, we need damage, damage, damage!*
Metal Man (GM): Hit, hit. They're taking heavy damage now. They may have an advantage in numbers, but they can only do so much.
Julian: *Zombies and robots cannot be subject to Dirty Attacks, so... BONK.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Dragoshi: *Zombies and robots should eat more SWORD TO THE FACE. Because it has what they lack: SWORD TO THE FACE.* :x
Metal Man (GM): Both hit. Two of the remaining GUN skeletons rush Dragoshi. An Eggrobo fires at Deloth. Another abomination tries to explode on Julian. They're pretty weak now...
Julian: *For fuck's sake.*
Deloth: "Dammit, Fate, get your monkey off my back for a bit..."
Flaeyn tries for another Holy Cross..
Metal Man (GM): Still, a hit.
Digifanatic won't go for any more Elemental Will stuff this turn since he's already gotten one successful shot with it, and he knows from past experience that such manipulation often involves solid concentration. ANYWAYS! Fire Punch!*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Digifanatic then goes back to another of his own tricks... he walks back to the group, ready to cover Julian's back.
Metal Man (GM): The horde are looking a bit weak.
Digifanatic: "Just get back behind me after you're done..."
Deloth: *More sword slashy Cusinarty goodness. For massive SCREW YOU.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Julian: *Disappointed with the lack of success with his other lines of attacks, Julian one-hands the bat, rears back with his left hand as the glove its wearing gathers an electric charge, and tries to punch an Egg-robo in the face! Stunner GO!*
Metal Man (GM): Still hits.
Dragoshi: *Kinda dead... By a sliver of damage.*
Keikyoku uppercuts one of the undead to make him fly as far as possible.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku uppercuts the ceiling and takes damage.
Keikyoku tries to punch one of the undead while landing.
Metal Man (GM): Hit, and he takes more self-injury damage. But also hit. But also die. Hit. Die. Hit. The army of monsters attacks; one attacks Keikyoku with a punch. Another two go to shoot Flaeyn. The last attack goes to... Julian. They take more damage.
Julian: *Look at that!*
Metal Man (GM): Julian is hit, and the horde are nearly dead.
Flaeyn would summon Sixty Crosses, then would smash into the crowd with Godhand.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Digifanatic is just looking for carnage now. Hopefully, one big Club Ram can do the trick.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Deloth: *A trio of Light Pillars!*
Metal Man (GM): Lotsa hits. Only a few remaining undead exist.
Metal Man (GM): Hit, hit, hit.
Julian: *Holy shit all of that hit! Julian beats the remaining zombies to redeath with his bat!*
Metal Man (GM): There's about two remaining undead... beat them down, Keikyoku!
Keikyoku coughs up some blood before charging the undead with a pimp fist punch. and another.
Metal Man (GM): Wow, it dodged that first one... Hit. Only one undead is left. It goes to punch Keikyoku before it can die. *Death.* There's one, insanely weak undead GUN soldier left. Finish him!
Deloth grins and patiently watches the soon-to-be carnage... *Any minute now...* *...FLAEYN, WAKE UP AND KILL ALREADY.*
Metal Man (GM): Flaeyn slowly builds a card house.
Deloth sighs. "Digi, please hit."
Digifanatic: "I will try."
Flaeyn finishes the card house, then attacks the last one with Godhand. "'Tch, die already..."
Metal Man (GM): Hit. The GUN soldier dies. The group is covered in dead robot and skeleton dust. The main computer is on. A strange message is on the screen.
Deloth: "Freaking FINALLY."
Julian wipes the zombie dust off his bat before putting it back in his equipment bag.* "Bustin' makes me feel good." *Strange message!*
Deloth looks up at the message.
Dragoshi: *Still KO'd.* :x
Computer: 'SCNRLP ANRLPT NHEKNTE ELDFJDFO EPKWMD WMDFWFWK WLSKS ZPJWWPWQ ZO NW LQWNQWLQWNQWL!@!'
Julian: "...That's... a message alright."
Deloth: "Let's just go get those statues already..." *grabs Kei's corpse by one leg and drags it along over the floor while he walks.*
Julian: "Righ'..." *Statues!*
Deloth is also struggling with the urge to blast said corpse into small pieces of rat meat.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go to continue down the stairs...
Metal Man (GM): The door sort of limply falls down, and they see that the whole downstairs is now filled with eerie mist.
Digifanatic: *drags Dragoshi seen as how he's KO'd as well.*
Metal Man (GM): There's areas which glow orange, and some factories are half-on. It's... creepy.
Julian: *Seen worse. Onwards! TO STATUES.*
Deloth smashes Kei's limp corpse on the floor a few times. "NEXT! TIME! DO! NOT! TOUCH! ANYTHING!" *growls and keeps walking.*
Flaeyn follows behind the others, helping Keikyoku walk. "C'mon already..."
Digifanatic: "Flae, I think he's out cold."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk their way out to the factory. Some undead walk up to them, but stop short.
Julian: "Whoa, what you doin'? Del's doin' a fine-enough job draggin' him."
Metal Man (GM): Apparently the Questers proved to them they meant business.
Flaeyn: "'Tch. Leave no one behind." He would then sling Kei over his shoulder like he were a hunted, dead animal and walks on.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku's unconscious body remains in the same shape, regardless of attempts to either beat it up further or help it walk.
Deloth shoots a glare at the zombies as he walks.
Julian: "He ain't bein' left behind, but... whatev, you wanna carry his dead ass go ahead."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk up to the main factory; the place of Eggman's last stand. Immensely powerful energy seems to radiate from here.
Deloth: "Next time Kei wakes up, I say we handcuff him to the nearest immobile object and not let him touch anything except food. Any agreements?"
Julian: "Ain't stoppin' yah." *Hell YES we enter.*
Deloth takes a few deep breaths and heads in to the next area.
Flaeyn waits, waiting for Julian to get caught by a trap or something.
Digifanatic: *also heads in.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk in. There inside is the statues in a circle. An incredibly powerful force echoes.
Statues: "HSA HSA HSA EHRJ HEJR HKWLQ: WJQWRQR!"
Metal Man (GM): It is incomprehensible! Hm... that is sort of a problem... it seems the statues have a protective field on them. Can't really touch them without activating it.
Digifanatic: "I'm not sure what will happen if we dare to touch one of these."
Metal Man (GM): Perhaps touching those stones originally was a really... really bad idea.
Julian: "Hssa erhg heckle yoself. Not it."
Metal Man (GM): Most of the dead stuff in this room is gone. Oddly, there's still some bones at the long side of the room, near the room where Eggman's last stand was.
Deloth: "I'm about half-dead anyways. Want me to try?"
Metal Man (GM): There's also the room on the left, but I doubt that'll be a good place to go..
Digifanatic: "No, it's okay. Save yourself. I'm a bit more expendable right now." *searches for some console or whatnot that may change the controls in the room.*
Flaeyn tries to see if Eggman's Skeleton is in the same place.
Metal Man (GM): Consoles are in Eggman's room down the way. Flaeyn walks towards Eggman's room. Oddly, it is in the same place. Everything in that room is just as the Questers left it.
Digifanatic: "Hmm... we have to go into Robotnik's room..."
Julian: "So let's go."
Metal Man (GM): There's a strange feeling of dullness there. While everywhere else the Questers have been, a sort of feeling of evil in the air has been present.
Digifanatic: "Alright. I'm just hoping we don't get locked out."
Metal Man (GM): There are controls in here, but unlike everywhere else... they're still dead.
Digifanatic: "But, oh well..." *walks out and follows Flaeyn.*
Julian: *To Eggman's room, I guess.*
Digifanatic notices all of the dead consoles and such... he looks for any monitors or messages.
Flaeyn: "..." He brushes off Eggman's skeleton again, making it dustless, and looks into the skull's eye sockets. "..."
Deloth: "I tell you what. I'll stay in here just in case doors slam shut or something."
Metal Man (GM): Nope. The consoles are all super-dead. The skeleton is strangely mundane.
Flaeyn: "Anyone want to try reviving Kei through the gems..?"
Julian: "So... any chance of takin' out the barrier?"
Metal Man (GM): It is completely unrotted. It's a perfectly together skeleton. This is unusual, as most of the skeletons the Questers found were much less... perfect.
Flaeyn: "...Oro? ..." He pauses for a second. "...The skeleton's been replaced, hasn't it..?"
Metal Man (GM): Touching the 'Eggman' skeleton makes one feel detached from the evil atmosphere in the air.
Deloth patiently waits for the shield to go down...
Flaeyn: "Can anyone give me a picture of Eggman? I'm not sure this is his skeleton..."
Julian: "Does he have a big ribcage and stupid-long arms and legs?"
Digifanatic: "That works."
Metal Man (GM): Actually, the skeleton looks... like an average human. The clothes don't fit too well.
Flaeyn: "..." He facepalms. "Well god damn." He just smacks his head against the wall. "Well jesus..."
Metal Man (GM): Though stranger still, the skeleton seems to be enchanted... or perhaps negatively enchanted, for it is the most mundane skeleton anyone has ever seen.
Julian: "Then it ain't him."
Flaeyn: "Eggman's still out there!"
Digifanatic: "Well, think of it this way... everyone's saying Eggman. I haven't heard much 'Robotnik' out of people besides us, right?"
Deloth: *shouting.* "Hey, what's the holdup? Can't find the controls?"
Digifanatic: "Hang on, I'll brief Deloth." *walks over to him.*
Julian: "If it was anyone else, I'd say your crazy... but Eggman's come back from the dead like a billion times. I wouldn't put it past him."
Metal Man (GM): Of course... there is one way the Questers could find out... they know the statues revive things.
Julian: *Does not.*
Flaeyn: "But that was with science, right? This time, it's by those gems..." Soooo does not.
Metal Man (GM): Well, not Julian, heh. But those who saw the statues do it earlier.
Julian: "The fuck do those gems do, anyway? That new guy I heard touched them an' shit got fucked up, but that's it."
Metal Man (GM): This could actually be the Eggman of this world... or not... but one can't know looking at a bleached white skeleton alone. And there's a weird field around the statues...
Flaeyn: "I might be able to animate it by using Serechisse to give life to his soul."
Julian: "...Say what?"
Digifanatic: "Okay, Deloth... we can't find any controls. But, we're staring at this odd skeleton that may or may not be the Eggman we all know and love to hate."
Deloth rolls his eyes. "Aw, shit, not again."
Digifanatic: "Like, it is Eggman... but whether it's Ivo Robotnik or not is up in the air."
Deloth: "Want me to go blow it up?"
Flaeyn: "Serechisse. It's sort of like a mini-soul, I can't give the skeleton a full soul, but I may revive him just for awhile."
Digifanatic: "Nah... we're actually trying to figure out who it is in a somewhat peaceful way..."
Deloth looks down on the ground for any loose rocks. Quester Rule #1: stones are your friends.
Flaeyn: "...What are you going to do with that?"
Julian: *shrugs.* "If you think it'll work."
Metal Man (GM): There's some loose concrete pieces. Yeah, it's a separate room.
Digifanatic: "Hmm... trying to deactivate the stones?"
Flaeyn builds up the light into his hands, then he slowly inserts Serechisse into the skeleton. "...Hm?"
Deloth grabs one and tosses it at the field, then steps to the right.
Metal Man (GM): Something very strange happens. The minute the magic energy touches the skeleton, it dissipates.
Digifanatic: "Oh, I see. Thought you'd bring them into the other room."
Metal Man (GM): Flaeyn has to recoil back to keep it from draining all his magical energy.
Julian: "The fuck..."
Metal Man (GM): It's like an anti-magic skeleton.
Flaeyn: "'Tch. It's not sufficient enough."
Julian: "You okay?"
Flaeyn: "Yeah. I'm fine. This is barely enough to take me down..."
Metal Man (GM): The rock hits the field, flies through, and then the statues glow and cause the rock to fly through the other side and then land on the ground.
Julian: "Well, nothin' else in here..." *Back to the main room.*
Deloth: "...Now THAT'S interesting."
Flaeyn would look back at the skeleton one more time before leaving with Julian.
Metal Man (GM): The skeleton seems to shine dimly.
Digifanatic: "Like I said, I feel a bit more expendable right now, if such a situation happens." *walks to the field and just stays within its boundaries...*
Julian: "Wait..." *goes back and tries to grab the skeleton.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian grabs it. It stays intact. Even when picked up. It's a really weird skeleton.
Julian: *Hauls it back to the main room, then.*
Deloth cautiously puts a tentacle-tip into one of the fields.
Flaeyn: "...What do you think you're doing?"
Deloth: "Duck and cover."
Metal Man (GM): Why, Julian suspects it's either an artificial skeleton of some advanced cyborg, or a transmuted normal skeleton, or... whatever. He carries it into the main room. A sphere surrounds Julian. The room is less purple within this sphere... it surrounds the skeleton. Apparently the statues give off a purple light.
Flaeyn: "... Well. I'm glad I have you on my team." O_o
Digifanatic: *cautiously ducks.*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is tasered by the field.
Julian: *Gets the fuck away from the skeleton if he can.*
Metal Man (GM): It repulses the tentacle. Julian walks away from the skeleton. It lays on the floor, dead.
Deloth: "OW! Son of a..."
Metal Man (GM): The sphere surrounds it... the sphere is like almost a normalcy sphere. No magical energy seems capable of getting too close to the skeleton.
Flaeyn: "Are you okay?" He says, walking over to help Deloth up, if he's been knocked down.
Julian: "Hmm..." *Grabs the skeleton again after figuring out he didn't suffer a horrible death.*
Deloth: "Yeah, I'm fine. That field just zapped me."
Metal Man (GM): Julian picks it up again.
Julian: *Looks to see if he is enveloped in the normalcy sphere.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian is indeed surrounded by the sphere. Digi walked into the statue field. BZAP. He takes damage. Statue field = bad, skeleton field =... well, it's normal, at least.
Flaeyn: "...This feels like Lemmings now." He says towards Digifanatic.
Julian: *Tries to walk into the statue field while holding the skeleton.*
Digifanatic: "Okay, so maybe we take a stone and just lightly toss it so it stays inside the field without one of us getting zapped?" *crouches.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian walks up to the field. *BZT* ...The field is gone. The statues are mundane. No more undead. There is a quiet rumble... all the haunting stops. Apparently, the Eggman of this world had a good fitness routine, and also an anti-magic field.
Deloth: "Uh... guys?"
Digifanatic: "You're alive. "
Metal Man (GM): The Eggman skeleton remains perfectly mundane.
Julian: *Is The Greatest.*
Flaeyn: "Alright... I'll try getting the jewels." He tries grabbing a jewel.
Digifanatic: "Noooo no no no no!"
Metal Man (GM): It begins glowing.
Deloth: "If these statues are normal now, will they still have the power they need back at where they need to go?"
Digifanatic: "We did not come here for those... just to bring the statues back...!"
Julian: "So we gonna get the statues or what?"
Metal Man (GM): The gem glows with an ancient, corrupted energy.
Deloth rushes over and tackles Flaeyn. "GET DOWN! GLOWING MEANS EXPLOSIONS!"
Julian: *Drops the skeleton now that it's done its work.*
Flaeyn: "..." He then gets Kei, and uses his hands to pick it up.
Metal Man (GM): Flaeyn is tackled befor he can touch it with Kei's hand.
Deloth: *WHUMP thud.*
Digifanatic: *he does get down as well.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers can now pick up the statues. They're heavy, but if they all carry them--and leave the stones alone--they can be taken back to their proper place. Leaving the one Jack stole.
Digifanatic: "Just stop messing with the stones!"
Julian: "Stop messin' around, an' lets get these statues moved! C'mon!"
Flaeyn falls downwards. Jumping back up, he'd dust them off and sighs. "Fine. We'll just pick up the statues."
Deloth gets up and dusts himself off.
Metal Man (GM): In the interests of time, I assume the Questers go to just take the statues back, without any further messing with them.
Julian: "Things I gotta put up with..." *Julian'll take the skeleton with them. It's a good luck skeleton.*
Deloth: "That may not be such a good idea, Julian..."
Julian: "It'll be nice to have an anti-magic thing around when I need it. Even if it's a skeleton."
Flaeyn: "Lets just take it back. We've seen the undead animate themselves and other jazz. Lets just put it back, it could be useful--but I don't want to incite an undead's wrath."
Metal Man (GM): It is also a very... strange... skeleton... A bit of time passes; the Questers are in the temple. All of the 20 slots are filled but 1, with statues. A holy energy reverberates. The previously evil nature of the statues appears to be... lesser. Tails stands there, looking at them.
Tails: "Hm. On the one hand, if we got the last one, we would see what was behind that door..."
Digifanatic: "And Jack ran off with lucky twenty."
Aribar looks about the now filled temple. The half-elf didn't help the other 'rescue' the statues; he stayed back to ensure no undead critters escaped the tomb. "Even if we found him and he still had the statues, I doubt that we would have enough to buy it from him."
Flaeyn: "I'd hate to do it, but I would think we could persuade him by force."
Keikyoku examines one of the echidna statues.
Tails: "But we might not want to open the door either..."
Metal Man (GM): ncient inscriptions line the piece.
Aribar: "That is a very good point, Tails." *The mage looks at the statues; he makes sure the ones with the Chaos Stones are here as well.*
Metal Man (GM): They are.
Tails: "We don't really know what it sealed. And so far, all the statues have done are bad things."
Keikyoku runs a finger along the inscriptions.
Metal Man (GM): They feel about a half inch deep. Little bit sharp.
Tails: "So, we could safely leave things be and continue on to other business. If you guys think that's good."
Flaeyn: "Hm. That 20th statue, what was it again?"
Tails: "Personally, I want to know what this weird guy whose men have entered our world are about... the ones you know. In Jack's hands..."
Flaeyn: "Not where. What."
Keikyoku sucks on his bleeding finger and tries to read the inscriptions.
Tails: "Uh..." He scratches his head. "I don't remember."
Metal Man (GM): The inscriptions make no sense to Keikyoku. He doesn't have any real reference material. They're a foreign language.
Digifanatic: "Better off, simply where was Jack heading to?"
Tails: "Uh... well... he sort of went back North. I don't know what's up there, or if he just turned around afterwards."
Digifanatic looks at the number of each 'species' of statue to see if there's any array like 4-4-4-4-4 or 5-5-5-5.
Metal Man (GM): Digi sees there are 5 angels, 5 echidnas, 5 humans, and... 4 hedgehogs. Five of the statues (mostly at random) hold stones.
Digifanatic: "Hmm... If the numbers here are any indication, Jack's got a hedgehog."
Flaeyn: "Hm. Alright..."
Keikyoku examines one of the stones.
Metal Man (GM): It's green. And in the hands of one of the statues.
Digifanatic: "That, of course, under the presumption there are five of each..."
Metal Man (GM): Looks chaos emerald-like.
Tails: "Guess we can't easily find Jack, either. So... up to you guys. I'll take you as far out as I can, then I have to keep looking for Sonic."
Keikyoku examines it closer for any imperfections and such.
Metal Man (GM): There are mild scratches from wear, over the millennia. No major damage, it appears to be partially self-repairing.
Aribar: "I have no idea as to where we could go..."
Flaeyn: "I wish we had trackers or something..."
Digifanatic: "Yeeeah... but Jack would never let us get those."
Keikyoku if we spread word about a great treasure he'll show up.
Tails: "Well, if you want Jack, I'd bet he would come if there was a rumor... It's up to you, really. I do know of some real places we could lure him to... We'd have to prepare, though. Jack is... uh... smart... and may not have the statue with him."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... well, as long as Jack doesn't go berserk and smite us when we tell him he just fell for a trap, it doesn't sound like a bad idea."
Flaeyn: "In the first place, why would you bring a statue with you around anyway?"
Digifanatic: "Cause you want it pawned? Remember, Jack likes his money."
Flaeyn: "...I've GOT to see what your lure is."
Keikyoku we could get a *shiver* boat and follow his to where he lives, or we could ask Marley if he knows where Jack is at.
Tails: "He isn't one to go berserk. He just coolly kills people. Well, that's the problem. He lives on... Or that. So, Marley's... where?"
Aribar: "... I don't know."
Tails: "Where did you last see him?"
Aribar: "If I recall correctly, we last saw him at a meeting with GUN after the battle... My memory's bad, though, so I could be wrong."
Keikyoku: "When we left the continent with the GUN building."
Tails: "So, we go to the GUN building. Agreed?"
Flaeyn looks to the others, not having an opinion on this matter.
Aribar: "Fine by me."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... I'm pretty sure we saw him on that chopper before we took down Borne. GUN building is a good idea."
Tails: "So, we are agreed."
Metal Man (GM): He walks back up to the helicopter and gets in.
Keikyoku skates after Tails.
Metal Man (GM): So, the Questers get in the helicopter, and it takes off. While they fly... they see smoke to the far East. Hm. That's where Continia is.
Franz: "Eees bad weather today, yes?"
Digifanatic: "I don't know about that, but... That does not look good."
Aribar looks out of the copter and sees the smoke...* "Isn't that... Isn't Trevor's continent over there? Surly the smoke couldn't be coming from there!"
Digifanatic: "Surely it can... Unless Jack's directly involved with whatever's going on in Continia, I'm not sure if heading there is a better idea now or not."
Franz: "Eeet eees comink from zerr! I can zee it! We cannot geeet theer yet. Though."
Metal Man (GM): He turns it towards the continent.
Franz: "Helicopter of zees type cannot make distance."
Digifanatic: "Oh, okay..."
Franz: "Maybe tell new GUN administration. They like making order now."
Metal Man (GM): The helicopter goes to land... right on top of the GUN building. What a handy heliport.
Keikyoku gets out when it lands.
Tails: "I'll wait for you."
Metal Man (GM): It lands... there's the elevator. A GUN man sits next to it.
Digifanatic: *heads out and goes to the elevator.*
Aribar follows Digi. He asks the man, "Excuse me, do you know if Marley is still here?"
Man: "Why, yes. He's in his new office. The 70th floor. Go ahead. I know you're... the people who helped us."
Digifanatic: "Thank you, sir."
Metal Man (GM): The elevator takes a moment to recall the car, then opens.
Keikyoku jumps in.
Digifanatic: *walks over and hits 70.*
Metal Man (GM): The NEW keypad is just numbers 1-99, with... a negative key. No more sneakiness!
Dragoshi: *Just follows behind.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi presses 70. It begins going down. *DING!* It opens. A relatively plain office, with Marley in it, awaits you.
Keikyoku jumps out.
Marley: "Oh, hi Questers."
Keikyoku: "Do you have any way of knowing where Jack is?"
Flaeyn: "I don't think that's quite the right question to ask..."
Marley: "He is using my boat, right? And what happened?"
Flaeyn: "It's none of your concern. I apologize. However, we would like to know his location."
Aribar frowns and feels as if Marley deserves some explanation... "We got split up with him and were wondering if you had any idea where he may be."
Flaeyn gives Aribar a disapproving frown. "I'm sorry we have to bother you about this--but it's important after all."
Marley: "None of my concern?" He chuckles. "I guess you don't want to know how to deal with Jack when he runs off all of a sudden. Because he does that... all the time. I can track him with my phone, which I have the number to. But calling or finding him would be bad. No. You gotta do something specific. He just gets angry and runs off... Of course, I need to know why he did it..."
Flaeyn: "So, in other words, you won't help?"
Marley: "Not without knowing why he split. Then my advice is useless."
Flaeyn turns to the others, awaiting a no or yes answer on whether or not to tell him.
Aribar: "We had a disagreement over who to sell some loot to."
Aribar: "He went... North I believe. We went to pick up some more items and do what we wanted with them. Of course, we now realize that all of the loot was part of a set and we'd like to have the last piece..."
Marley: "Oh, one of those. Well, he likes to run away a while, then come back... It's been a while, right?"
Aribar turns to the others for help here; he has a terrible lack of ability to tell the time.
Flaeyn: "Don't look at me, I don't even know him." :/
Digifanatic: "It's been about a day or two."
Keikyoku: "A day, maybe two."
Dragoshi: "...I only thought it had been a couple of hours." :/
Marley: "Well, you were using Franz's helicopter, right? I saw it... once or twice. I can just check the flight logs."
Digifanatic: "Well, either time's been flying for you or it just hasn't been going very fast at all for Kei and I."
Marley: *Checks.* "Hm. It's been a couple hours past a day. Time is a bit hard to track here... the sun goes down after long intervals. Anyway. It's still good enough. He'll just be waiting. Oh... right... do you guys have communicators of any kind?"
Digifanatic: "Hmm... no, I don't think he ever gave us anything."
Marley: "Well. We should keep tabs on one another."
Flaeyn: "He doesn't seem like that kind of guy anyway."
Digifanatic: "Definitely not."
Keikyoku: "Hmm I wish I had a communicator, sounds fun."
Aribar: "That would be a great idea."
Metal Man (GM): He opens a drawer and hands out... normal radios.
Marley: "They'll need charging after a while. Just come back when that happens. Only one person can use it at a time, so don't squelch eachother out."
Metal Man (GM): He goes to hand them out to the Questers.
Aribar: "Thank you, Marley." *Aribar accepts his radio.*
Keikyoku: "Do you have any chargers?"
Dragoshi: *Nods and takes his radio.*
Digifanatic: "The way we travel, we'd have no outlets." *takes his.*
Marley: "No outlets... and no time to wait for it to charge... and it'd clutter your inventories. Anyway. You may leave, if you have nothing else to talk about."
Flaeyn takes his radio, tucking it in his uniform somewhere.
Keikyoku starts toying with the radio.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku IMMEDIATELY changes his to the wrong station and starts hearing music.
Aribar: "I take it we can use these to contact Jack?"
Marley: "No, he has a phone. You wouldn't want to call him anyway. Just show up where he left you and he'll be there..."
Digifanatic: *heads back to the elevator.*
Keikyoku tries turning it back to the correct station.
Marley: "He doesn't like to admit it, but he gets guilty."
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku switches it back to normal. The group gets to the helicopter. The helicopter flies everyoen to Tails' lab on the island. Doo doo doo... the Questers get there and find Jack laying on the beach, with his boat. He appears to have new, extremely expensive sunglasses. And a silver pocket watch.
Jack: "What took you so long?"
Flaeyn: "What do you mean, what took you so long?" He looks around for any hint of mercenaries he could've hired.
Digifanatic: .oO(Not coool.)
Metal Man (GM): There's nothing about that. He... doesn't have any mercenaries, it seems.
Keikyoku looks around for anything of particular interest.
Jack: "I was here a while ago. I just sold mine for a tidy profit."
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku finds nothing. Except Jack.
Flaeyn: "'Tch. Who'd you sell it to?"
Jack: "I had to go to that place where Trevor came from. His men wouldn't take it, but some weird guys in suits paid top dollar. They said they could research it to figure a way to counter the weapons Trevor stole."
Digifanatic: "Huh... what was with all the smoke? We could see it from the heliport?"
Jack: "Probably giant explosions. They said some precursor civilization must have made them. And -get this- they spoke of aliens who might be able to understand it with super-advanced translator technology."
Flaeyn: "... And you just sold it to them. Knowing this."
Aribar: "Did you at least get a good profit?"
Jack: "Five. Thousand."
Dragoshi: "Judging by the watch and gl-... Yea. He did."
Jack: "No undead army... no sharing it with you... and pure profit. What did you do with yours? Make a jenga tower? I see they're all gone or something."
Aribar: "We couldn't exactly carry three heavy gold statues with us everywhere; they're in... Safe keeping right now."
Keikyoku: "Yes they fell over when we played jenga though."
Jack: "Well, I assume you want to know who the men in suits were."
Flaeyn: "This isn't the time for jokes, Kei."
Aribar: "That would be nice."
Jack: "They're the Federal Alliance. A group of people who, according to themselves, constitute a large group of people who got sent here by some explosion. Then those Trevor jerks appeared and began terrorizing them. Then you helped them and then the Trevor jerks started to actually succeed..."
Metal Man (GM): He smirks.
Jack: "But that caused the alien benefactors of the Federals to come in, and this statue was in the right place at the right time."
Tails: "...Well... that's great but... the statues create nothing but chaos."
Jack: "Good thing I don't live there!"
Digifanatic: "Is the statue currently in Continia?"
Dragoshi: "And undead. Lots and lots of undead." :x
Jack: "Oh, yeah. This statue didn't have a gem. No undead... they apparently decoded an inscription, which apparently was a magic spell."
Aribar: "... A spell?"
Jack: "A magic spell of great power."
Aribar tries to recall a certain rumor that they heard a long time ago. . It was when they were on Angel Island for the first time; a rumor about a spell that could summon pure elemental energy..
Metal Man (GM): Aribar remember it... Pure Element. However...
Jack: "It is the spell that maintained that place in the first place. Pa-nell they called it. It makes machines come back to life and repairs things. Naturally they went on to repair everything that was damaged and blow up Trevor's garrison outside their city... uhhh... Neo-Chicago."
Flaeyn: "...'Tch. How come you didn't stick around to know this spell?"
Jack: "Well, I'm not high enough to understand it. They had to warp in some... practitioner... of Voodoo magic or something. It was beyond the ken of most of the people there."
Aribar: "I see..."
Jack: "Of course, you can see them, but the shoe is on the other foot--I'll have to tell them NOT to kill you, because they know you helped Trevor. And I think I'd rather lay here, before then using the rest of my money to raise that Egg ship."
Aribar's mind races now. Those statues are apparently the key to some very powerful magic. They have angered the Federal Alliance, but he thinks that they may be able to diplomatically dissuade any bad feelings...
Jack: "I forgot to be angry at you once I sold it, and they assured me they wouldn't be too angry knowing you unwittingly allowed me to balance things again."
Flaeyn: "Well geez, great job juicing the most profit out of this deal." :/ He's sarcastic of course.
Jack: "Heh. Heh. Heh."
Dragoshi: "And somehow... I am not surprised in the slightest."
Keikyoku: "I think Eggman stole the spell before... maybe something at his old base can decode the ancient text."
Aribar: "I say we head to this hotspot; either Trevor or these Federals are going to win, and no one knows what they will do once that occurs. I believe that we should try and manipulate these events so that there is as little harm and destruction done as possible."
Digifanatic: *to Aribar.* "And get back the statue?"
Keikyoku looks for something broken.
Flaeyn: "Sounds like a hat-trick. There is never a battle without little harm."
Aribar: *To Digi.* "Possibly."
Jack: "Whatever you want to do. The boat is usable."
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku find a simple engine, which is laying out on an outside workbench. Tails was repairing it.
Keikyoku looks at it and starts repeating the chanting he heard in the temple.
Metal Man (GM): Nothing happens. It's not a spell. Or if it is... it's not applicable here. The Questers now have the run of Jack's boat.
Aribar hastens to the boat.
Metal Man (GM): Jack's just sunbathing.
Jack: "That boat is Marley's, and I'm rich enough to buy another one, so... I'm sure he'd want you to use it."
Tails: "Hmph. You do your things. I must go find Sonic."
Metal Man (GM): Tails gets into the helicopter with Franz and takes off. Aribar is at the boat. All kinds of unfamiliar controls are inside this boat...
Digifanatic: "Yeah... I think we should hit Continia."
Keikyoku gets on the boat carrying the engine.
Aribar: "..." *The half-elf remembers that he can't use anything technological to save his life. He checks his excitement and awaits someone else to come in and operate the boat.*
Dragoshi: *Gets on the boat. A-yep.*
Digifanatic: *gets on the boat.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi would find the boat rather standard. And he knows Continia is to the East... and where Neo-Chicago is. Jack gets in the boat for a moment.
Digifanatic: "Huh... this doesn't seem too odd." *takes the pilot's seat.* "Hello again."
Jack: "Oh, yeah. Right. I have to tell them NOT to kill you. Well, here."
Metal Man (GM): Jack gives you one of his calling cards. It's embossed in gold.
Jack: "They'll know I sent you now."
Digifanatic: "Ooooh... okay then." *pockets it.* "Thank you."
Jack: "Just don't sell it. It may be worth a lot, but I'm not giving you another."
Metal Man (GM): He leaps off the boat again. You're ready to go.
Keikyoku looks for some tools.
Digifanatic: *Take off.*
Metal Man (GM): The ship takes off. The Questers soon reach Continia. It's a smoky mess. They're moving towards a large port. Hm. New Chicago is a bit fiery.
Digifanatic: "Let's just find where the Feds are..."
Metal Man (GM): Digi see a Fed presence in Port Royal. Or, at least, men in suits.
Digifanatic: *gazes out and sees guys in suits.* "Hang on... they might be our guys."
Aribar: "A battlefield is exactly where we don't want to be; let's head to the port."
Digifanatic: "Anyone thinks I should park it here, say so. Well, that's one from Aribar."
Metal Man (GM): There's a port right there, so, yeah.
Digifanatic: "No objections, I guess..." *parks it, takes the keys and hops onto land.*
Aribar steps out onto Port Royal.
Keikyoku skates in front of Aribar.
Metal Man (GM): The men stare. One of them walks up to the Questers.
???: "Hm. Jack told us about you. And you have his ship." He points a gun. "Show me he sent you."
Digifanatic pulls out the calling card. "Here, sir."
???: "I see."
Metal Man (GM): He puts the gun down.
???: "You've come at a late time. Things are not too good."
Aribar: "We've come to try and find out what exactly is going on here."
???: "It's against my better judgment I don't leap on that ship and ask for you to take who you can and flee to that peaceful island..."
Metal Man (GM): He sighs.
Digifanatic: *to the others.* "Should we tell them we want the statue?"
???: "We never wanted to be here in the first place, but thanks to you Trevor's goons have taken over a section of town, and we can't seem to get it back without it being destroyed."
Digifanatic: "Thanks to us? Jack's the greedy guy."
Aribar: "When we first came here, Trevor took in our ship and fixed it. He asked us to do some errands in return and he told us that your people were keeping technology from him. We really had no idea what we were dealing with."
???: "Jack sold us a statue... which... gave us magic. Without it you'd have come here and seen Trevor's goons."
Dragoshi: "...I see."
Digifanatic: "Yes... and those statues carry curses. We're determined to bring that statue back to where it belongs and bring some harmony for once."
???: "Well, we can't spare it. A great man of magic has learned from it and is telling our men how to channel its power. Without the statue, Trevor will win."
Digifanatic: *sighs.* "Who is the great man of magic?"
???: "It's taking all we've got to keep our guns in place. He has flying ships and laser guns."
Keikyoku: "Do you say something like this:" *Starts the chanting that he heard in the temple.*
???: "Oh... he doesn't want his name revealed."
Digifanatic: "What does he look like?"
???: "No. That sounds like it but isn't it... Well..."
Metal Man (GM): He picks up a sheet and throws it over his head.
???: "He's really strange. But the aliens found him for us."
Aribar blinks; he is a bit taken aback by the... Silliness of it.
???: "They said the Western Continent is full of magic people like him. ..." He throws the sheet down. "It is a bit strange."
Aribar: "Sir, do you happen to know -why- Trevor is attacking you?"
???: "They themselves are in a space war, so they had to improvise. Trevor comes from another place. Apparently in that place, he ruled the world. When he came here, he saw us. Naturally he thinks we should have him as ruler. He is extremely smart and keeps taking hostages and corrupting government agents. It was only our technology gulf which kept him at bay before... Luckily, he hasn't broken into our top secret area."
Aribar frowns and nods.
Dragoshi: *Doesn't even say a word.*
???: "We hear he helped you destroy some other person."
Digifanatic: "I wish I knew what world Trevor ruled... it'd be nice to have some more background than all the enigma crap we've seen before. Yes we did, sir. Commander Borne ring a bell?"
???: "No. But it sounds bad. He stole his technology from him, apparently."
Metal Man (GM): He shows the Questers a futuristic PDA, then shows them... a massive mechanized machine smashing stuff.
Aribar sighs. "Yes, he certainly did."
???: "Let us just say that he is more powerful than that man. All peace negotiations generally end with 'Surrender or die', and he keeps picking up more weapons."
Digifanatic: "You mean Trevor's more powerful than Borne, right? Just want to confirm."
???: "Luckily, our secret service is dealing with him. In fact, we could use your help."
Digifanatic: "Yeah... as long as that statue remains intact."
Aribar: "We may still be in Trevor's good graces..."
Digifanatic: "I am looking at that as a secondary concern."
???: "You want the statue... we want Trevor. Dead. Is that a possible trade?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, we can work that out."
Dragoshi: "...Sure, why not."
Digifanatic: "We help you take down Trevor and when you don't need the statue anymore, we can get it and take it back to its place of solitude."
Aribar: "Assuming everything works out and your people win this war, what will you do?"
???: "Well, Trevor has always lived in the barren parts. We'll keep to our territory and live a peaceful existence, trying to figure out how to escape this rock. Back home. Not to other continents."
Metal Man (GM): He begins walking towards a HQ for the Feds here.
???: "I assume you come from elsewhere too."
???: "We may also wish to ally with your friends, if what Jack says is true."
Aribar follows the man towards his base. The half-elf is surprised that this is going so well.*
Digifanatic: "That part is true."
Metal Man (GM): He speaks his name. His hair is blondish, and he's seemingly American...
Johnathan: "I am Johnathan Dark... just John, please. I don't even say my full name all the time. It's confusing."
John: "It'll all make a bit more sense to you once I show you to the others."
Metal Man (GM): He flips a card and the door opens. Inside there is... a futuristic base of some sort. Hm. It's almost like a training area.
Dragoshi: *Follows behind.*
John: "This is the away base for the Carrington Institute, a part of the Federal Alliance. Our alien friends are away at the moment, but I'm sure you could spare a moment to see our leader. He has been quite confused ever since our intel noted your... alien spacecraft... We normally specialize in dealing with aliens, but this war has us doing some down-and-dirty fighting. Oh. And... this."
Metal Man (GM): He leads you down a hallway to a small in-hallway room. There's the statue. Safe, inside a glass case.
Digifanatic: "Oh, very nice."
John: "We know it has dangerous energies in it. They're contained in that case. And it's also to keep us from breaking in to it. We only need to let our magic helper read it... even then, he's a bit shifty. We never let him look at it alone. Anyway..." He walks over to the elevator, and presses the button. It slowly goes down, and he gets onto it.
Aribar: "Could I possibly meet with him after this is over?"
John: "Of course. Perhaps you might know about him. He is... very strange... and frankly, hiding something. He can read the script... but... it doesn't seem to be exact. The spell never works the same twice. It's like a fragment, or so he says."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers reach the top floor and are now walking down the hallway. It's a rather casual building.
John: "This is why we must use our handful of magic-sensitive recruits until they're all but passed out. Oftentimes it just fails. Sometimes it backfires... Anyway." He opens the door. You see a weird, fat old man in a suit behind a desk inside.
Aribar: "If, in the near future, you need a magic user then I would gladly be at your service."
John: "This is Daniel Carrington... the founder of the institute."
Daniel Carrington: "What do we have here... hmmm... strange... I thought these people were our enemies?"
John: "Apparently they were tricked by Trevor."
Daniel Carrington: "Hmph. Not again. He tricks all kinds of friendly aliens--err, potential allies. So..." He turns to face you. "I don't have much time today, so I'll just ask a question. What planet are you from?"
Metal Man (GM): What a strange question to begin with.
Keikyoku: "This one. I think."
Daniel Carrington: "Are all of you from this planet?"
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku definitely is, at least.
Digifanatic: "Not me."
Aribar: "No, most of us are not. I -originally- hail from the world of Whaller."
Dragoshi: *Points at Kei.* "He is."
Daniel Carrington: "So you're travelers... where did you go after... Whaller? See, this planet has strayed many people, ourselves included. We'd like to find out why and get us all back on our merry way. Some people seem to innately belong here... but others seem to be from other worlds. These fights are being caused by people unfamiliar with one another meeting in close quarters... The continent South of here, for example, is a mess."
Aribar: "In our past world we fixed many problems similar to this; we form a group called the Questers; we're sort of... Vigilante guardians and mercenaries in a way."
Daniel Carrington: "Hm... and where do you, the Questers, hail from? That is. Where you came from to go here." He turns to Keikyoku. "Uh... excluding him, since he seems to have been recruited from this world. Of course."
Aribar: "Ah..." *The mage tries to think of the name of their last world -besides- just calling it the Old World or the World.*
Metal Man (GM): It could be called Nintendus. People kept trying to destroy that name, but... there is no other name. This planet, by comparison, just doesn't have a name yet.
Aribar: "Nintendus is where we came from."
Daniel Carrington: "Hm." He writes some more down. "Well. You rest here for a moment... the lounge has some chairs, that is... and we can brief you on where we need help and how you can do it."
