Date: December 22nd, 2008.
Metal Man (GM): Okay... as we left off... it was... a matter of the Mavericks and their great power. Of course, they were a bit too tough, so the group went off to the mainland. The group needed to find X, and to rest some. Having rested, the group is fully healed. And Deloth is with them. Zero and Dr. Robotnik are trying to get a lock on X's location. The group is on the Egg Carrier.
Dr. Robotnik: "Hmmm... I'm not sure if he's on a continent we know about."
Zero: "He has to be SOMEWHERE."
Digifanatic: "That's why I keep wishing we find some world map..."
Aribar: "Weren't you able to track X with his signal or something? Or did you only get a very vague idea of where he's at?"
Dr. Robotnik: "Another continent, yes. But which one, no."
Garrick scratches his scruff, pondering.
Dr. Robotnik: "It was a very fractured signal, and I only encountered it once."
Garrick: "How similar are you two in design, Zero?"
Dr. Robotnik: "I need to triangulate it from three positions to get an accurate lock."
Zero: "Not much. You could say we were made by two different people."
Deloth: "How long will THAT take?"
Digifanatic: "Ah..."
Dr. Robotnik: "At least half as long as your therapy did."
Dragoshi: *Is... leaning against the wall, snoozing.* :x *Luckily, he isn't snoring.* >_>
Garrick: "What about alloys? Power types?"
Deloth: "Don't joke with me. I'm really not in the mood."
Aribar: "That would be quite a while, but if we were able to do something constructive in the meantime then waiting for you to triangulate it wouldn't be too bad."
Zero: "He was the first reploid, hence he isn't really even considered a reploid. All reploids are copies of him. Myself, I was made before the first reploid... and am one of the oldest designs left."
Digifanatic: "Aribar has an idea."
Zero: "So you could say we're about as different as it gets."
Garrick: "Hm." *glances to Ari, arching his eyebrow.*
Digifanatic: "I see. But yeah, Aribar's suggestion to do other things while we find X's location is a good way to manage time."
Garrick: "Well, let's see... how much do we know about X's mode of transportation?"
Dr. Robotnik: "But without another signal, I can't even triangulate it, which is the problem."
Aribar: "Oh."
Zero: "It's an instant warp. If it still worked he'd be here by now. He's out of range of the teleport satellites."
Digifanatic: "I'm just not sure if we'll have to work on our own or if we'll still be able to use the Carrier."
Zero: "If not just too damaged to do it."
Garrick: "So he got to where ever it is he is now by teleporting there?"
Zero: "Yes... he vanished after heading straight towards the weird crater on our continent. Either the true threat is actually there or he was sent there so we couldn't find him."
Digifanatic: "Then again, having a nice break while we wait for things doesn't sound too bad. But that's tempting fate."
Garrick: "...well, maybe we can get some information from the crater... hm... what's the range on his teleport? How far can he go?"
Dr. Robotnik: "We need a satellite on OUR side to find him, I think."
Deloth: "I wouldn't mind going elsewhere."
Dr. Robotnik: "It was luck even that distortion reached us... we need more power."
Aribar: "We could do the foolish thing and go right to the crater and 'follow' X."
Deloth: "Elsewhere."
Zero: "No, no crater. We'll all die there. The robot army is merely the beginning."
Dr. Robotnik: "What we need..." *He smirks.* "Is actually becoming very familiar with what we wanted earlier. We wanted to go to space. So we could stop Red Text. Now we want something in space. So we can find X. It appears space is our priority. Why don't we try to go there, then?"
Zero: *Sigh.* "Okay... I guess you've got me there. There IS at least one way into space, even now. But it's a one-way trip. And we have to break into an abandoned base."
Digifanatic: "Huh... but what is that one way?"
Dr. Robotnik: "The other choice appears to either be related to talking to our other allies with tech... such as the Feds or possibly GUN. ...There may even be a piece left over in the continent where Eggmanland is being built."
Zero: "Well, there's space rockets in the desert, several of which have remained in operable condition. We steal one and we can get into space. With no way back down."
Garrick: "Well, what about this abandoned base?"
Aribar: "I don't particularly like the thought of a one-way trip into space."
Dragoshi: *Still dozing off.*
Zero: "The base was once controlled by Overdrive Ostrich."
Deloth: "...Who?"
Zero: "A very dead Maverick robot. Of course, the forces taking over the entire continent probably control it now."
Deloth: *raising an eyebrow.* "An OSTRICH?"
Garrick: "Well, once we get up there and take out Red Text, we can shut down the anti-warp field and warp out. SImple."
Zero: "I didn't know Ostriches were that important."
Dr. Robotnik: "Assuming we CAN take him down. Remember that he is still very... tough. He didn't hold me in that room with handcuffs alone."
Aribar blinks and looks at Garrick. "That is both brilliant and obvious."
Dr. Robotnik: "But... The anti-warp field is under my control... And we'd be in range to flicker it on and off in such a way we could escape. We'd just need to retrieve it and set it off again so as to suitably distract him."
Digifanatic: "Ahh."
Zero: "This will be difficult to do, but I can get you in to the base and get the rocket going."
Garrick: "There you go."
Dr. Robotnik: "I will bring the Egg Carrier."
Zero: "But it's a wreck!"
Dr. Robotnik: "Guess why I have this base here for."
Metal Man (GM): He flies the Egg Carrier to the Final Egg Hangar area. It is slowly repaired.
Zero: "Okay... let me give you guys... 'the plan.' First, I need to know your abilities. Which ones of you do close-range fighting, which do long-range, and which have special skills of use otherwise? This strange 'magic' I hear and see you use counts as long range in my book."
Aribar: "I can fling balls of fire, lightning, ice, and other elements quite a distance away. I'm also decent at close quarter combat as well."
Dragoshi: *Kinda asleep at the moment, so he can't answer the question.* :x
Deloth: "Teleporting, one long-range attack, one short-ranged attack, and blowing things up with a mental signal."
Garrick: "I can--one sec."
Deloth: "And I can shapeshift. Sorta."
Zero: "Okay, so you'll be where we need people, then, weird pointy ear guy."
Garrick: "Drag... DRAG!"
Deloth grabs Dragoshi and shakes him. "Wakey wakey."
Zero: "Okay, that's another long range... a very WEIRD long range..."
Digifanatic: "I'm mostly a close-range guy."
Dragoshi: *Slowly opens his eyes.* "...yeeeesss?"
Zero: *Looks to Dragoshi.* "You close range or long range?"
Digifanatic: "I usually don't dabble in long-range, but I'm good with a lot of technological stuff."
Dragoshi: "A bit of both, but mostly close range. I can also steal from people and blind them by spitting acid in their eyes, for what it's worth."
Garrick: "I can do long and short as well, but my gear is a little... how to put it... it's crap. I can do some tech as well, including some... unusual stuff."
Zero: "Okay..." He points to Dragoshi and Digi. "You two will run at the area. You guys--" He points to everyone else but Deloth. "Cover them. You." He points to Deloth. "There's some security systems based on the appearance of a very prevalent Maverick. You can help unlock those. You will also go with the close range people."
Deloth nods. "Who do you want me to impersonate?"
Dragoshi: *Nods.* "Understood."
Metal Man (GM): He taps Robotnik.
Zero: "The picture, please."
Dr. Robotnik: "Oh, right."
Metal Man (GM): He shows an image of Vile. Mr. Purple-armor. Boba Fett clone extraordinaire.
Zero: "He has second highest access. Assuming the others kill all the defenses, we can waltz right in. Because it's an old base and can't tell very easily."
Deloth looks at it for a few seconds. "Might take me a minute or two to get the right shape. You got a sample of his voice?"
Aribar: "Huh. He's supposed to be one of their top fighters?"
Dr. Robotnik: "It's a good thing he came aboard..."
Metal Man (GM): He plays back Vile taunting the Questers.
Zero: "He is their toughest besides Sigma himself. Your survival of his first attack was sort of a fluke."
Deloth: "...Gimme a minute or two and a quiet place where I can concentrate."
Dr. Robotnik: *Points at the many hallways down the way.*
Garrick: "I threw him out a window."
Deloth steps into one of the hallways and starts shifting. Dang muscle and cardiovascular rearrangements, always making this take longer than it should.
Zero: "That would do it... Teleporters can't send him back short-range. And he can't 'fly' fly either."
Dr. Robotnik: "At least that means we can remove him, should he come aboard. And with the tele-jammer..."
Zero: "You have one?"
Dr. Robotnik: "Yes."
Zero: "Well, we're in luck, then... once we kill the few poor guards, the place is ours. It'd take quite a while for them to walk there, anyway."
Deloth: *voice changing to Vile's* "Let's see, I can shift the tendons over here..." *finally steps back out. Wow, that's... pretty damn good.* *Vile's voice.* "Won't the security systems notice that I'm not really made of metal?"
Zero: "They don't think to check that. After all. No humans in our continent can do that."
Digifanatic: "Epic fail on their part."
Deloth: "The only problem I can see is this." *taps the tattoo on his shoulder.*
Dragoshi: *Just chuckles lightly as he stretches.*
Deloth: "I've tried putting ten layers of skin over this. It just goes right through it."
Zero: "Can you make it only appear on your back or something? The cameras only look in front."
Deloth: "No. Material can cover it, though, I've found out."
Garrick: "Maybe nix the jetpack? Give him something that looks similar?"
Dr. Robotnik: "..."
Metal Man (GM): He takes a piece of Vile on the ground and sticks it over the tattoo.
Dr. Robotnik: "Why, isn't it fortunate we beat so many pieces of Vile off of his body."
Garrick: "...that'll do it."
Zero: "Now... let's get going."
Dr. Robotnik: "Full power!"
Metal Man (GM): *WHOOSH.*
Dr. Robotnik: "I'll clear the perimeter of the base with some pre-emptive missile attacks."
Zero: "Yes, then we take the entrance and whoever is guarding it. You ready? Remember your positions?"
Deloth takes a seat. "Y'know, this is a lot harder than it looks. Adding mass and keeping your vital signs normal can be tough..."
Dragoshi: *Nods in response to Zero's question.*
Garrick: "It's easy enough."
Deloth: "Have you actually TRIED it?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah."
Zero: "Not on my life."
Dr. Robotnik: "I made a robot which could do that. He took over my empire and nearly took over the world. Never again."
Deloth: *Tactical stealth espionage action, tactical stealth espionage action...* "Should have programmed in the Three Laws."
Garrick: "I meant my job, Del..."
Aribar just sits back and awaits for his part in the plan to commence.
Dr. Robotnik: "Here we are... Oh. They remember me, don't they?"
???: (COMMS) "What do you think you're doing? You can't possibl--"
Dr. Robotnik: "THIS IS THE EGGMAN. SHUT UP AND BE DESTROYED!"
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM BOOOM BAM BAM BBBBBAAAAM.*
Deloth: "...enjoying yourself, I see."
???: (COMMS) "Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): The comms tower is blown to bits by a giant bolt of lightning.
Zero: "Okay, they're falling back to where we want to go. As planned. Lower us in."
Dragoshi: *After hearing the tower get blown up.* "Such a marvelous sound." *Smirk.*
Garrick sighs and smiles, loading a fresh clip into his pistol and drawing his dagger. "I just hope I can find some good stuff down in there..."
Metal Man (GM): A giant ramp lowers. There is a rather simple building, with a locked door, and stairs up to it. Zero leaps down.
Zero: "Close-up people, come with me. Long range people, stay back and fire from beyond the range of the defenders."
Dragoshi: *Runs down, sword drawn. Hooray.* :B
Digifanatic: *runs after Drago.*
Deloth: *Ah, right. Does that, then.*
Aribar rushes after the others; he doesn't follow too closely, however, for fear of being bombarded by the defenders. He stops when he thinks his spells could hit any opposition that the Questers face.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers encounter... well gee. It's another five of those dreaded robots.
Garrick jumps down with the rest of them, groaning and rolling his eyes at the bots.
Metal Man (GM): So, Dragoshi, Deloth, Digi, and Zero are up close. The rest can't be hit by anything not long range, but the same goes for them having to use long range.
Zero: "All right. Let's pretend that past mess didn't happen and kill these guys the right way!"
Metal Man (GM): He leaps in to stab a robot in the face. Hit. Then he stabs it again. The robot is summarily slashed in two and killed!
Zero: "Don't worry about your disguise, other guy. We're only using it to impress some basic scanners. Kill 'em all!"
Deloth: "Right." *The standard double sword slashes at Robot 2.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit. The second robot eats Laser sword. This robot isn't dead yet, but... yeah.
Aribar stands far back behind the front lines and thinks about how nice it is to not have to fear injury and death. That's a first for the half-elf. Aribar brings his arm up to a high angle and judges the shot before calling upon his magical powers to send four balls of fire hurdling down onto the battlefield!
Metal Man (GM): Robo 2 sputters and dies. Robot 3 gets harmed pretty badly. The robots go to attack. Robot 3 goes after Digi. Robot 4 goes after Zero. Robot 5 goes for Dragoshi... all with normal slaps. Zero leaps out of the way.
Dragoshi: *Gets slapped.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi is hit, and the robot takes damage itself.
Garrick scans over the area, looking to the robot that Ari just pumped some fire into. He sights down his pistol and makes to put two into the third robot.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick hits it, then he misses and... the robot is nearly dead. He just barely missed its CPU. Aribar leaps out of the way, and is not hurt.
Aribar dodges some undisclosed attack!
Garrick: "Damn gun..."
Dragoshi: *Blasts robot three with a wind-aligned Ele, then proceeds to try and slash Robot 4.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit. Robot 3 explodes, too.
Digifanatic decides to try a Fire Punch over on Robot 4 followed by Elemental Will -> Electric Punch.
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Zero: "Let's finish this..."
Metal Man (GM): He goes to slash a robot's head off. It ducks. He goes to stab it. *STAB.* He impales it to the wall and it dies. 1 robot remains.
Deloth: "Let's finish this." *Two more sword swipes.*
Metal Man (GM): The robot is pretty much screwed. 18 and 20... 38... 48... the robot is within an inch of death.
Aribar decides to just pretend to be Thor; the half-elf fires three bolts of lightning at the robot!* (White Lightning x 3.) =)
Metal Man (GM): The robot violently explodes, then its pieces are violently exploded, then the pieces of its pieces explode.
Zero: "That'll show that robot."
Zero: "Now... Mr. fake Vile. Look here." He points to a computer.
Metal Man (GM): It's next to the locked blast door.
Zero: "Poke the hand pad and it should open."
Aribar walks over to where the others are.
Deloth nods and introduces hand to scanner. He waits for the scanner's response.
Metal Man (GM): *Bloop.* *Door opens.* Several inches of dust blow away. This place hasn't been opened in forever.
Deloth: "Huh. That was easy."
Zero: "Years of damage to sensors will do that." *Walks inside.*
Garrick heads over as well, frowning. "Jeez... that was kinda simple..."
Metal Man (GM): Indeed.
Dragoshi: *Walks on in.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a missile silo.
Garrick heads in with the others, drawing his dagger again.
Deloth heads in, looking around. "Mind if I shift back now? The body's okay, but this fake helmet is killing me."
Digifanatic: *heads in, possibly towards the front of the line?*
Zero: "Go ahead."
Deloth carefully shifts back to his normal proportions, this time with a few nasty squishing and cracking noises as everything goes back into shape.
Garrick whistles lowly, looking over the missile. "This... jeez, this is a bigun'..."
Metal Man (GM): Digi walks in front, only to see Zero wander to the right and begin typing.
Deloth: *cracks his neck.* "I've seen bigger."
Zero: "Now the issue is how we are to ride it into space... the missile is hardly pressurized... or made for human occupation... This one's still good. Just a little old."
Aribar is a bit dumbfounded. "Wait, what?"
Garrick: "It's a weapon, Ari."
Digifanatic: *stops for a second and walks over to where Zero is.*
Garrick: "We're gonna convert it to a vessel. Basically, it needs to hold air in, stay warm, and keep us safe until we can put it on the satelite."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers hear a clank. Then several others. Oh no, it's... Eggman with his robots.
Aribar sighs and hopes that he lives through this venture.
Metal Man (GM): Nothing to fear.
Dr. Robotnik: "My machines will make this rocket inhabitable. It appears to be a launch vehicle. Part one is..."
Metal Man (GM): His machines slowly take off the top portion of the missile.
Dr. Robotnik: "Removing the useless warhead. And saving it so that I can use it later!"
Deloth: "For what? A lampshade?"
Garrick: "I'm not concerned with making it inhabitable. I'm more concerned with the targeting. Robotnik, this has to be a bullseye or we're gonna float off into space."
Dr. Robotnik: "Hm, right. I can simply aim for the center of the massive Super Death Egg structure. It'll cause damage to the SDE, but... that's good in this case. The only reason I refrain from blowing it up is I'm sure Red Text would expect that."
Garrick: "He also might blast it out of space. It'd be best if we can go in cloaked. It wouldn't have to be long, just enough for us to get too close for his... whatever he uses up there. Cannons and so forth."
Digifanatic: *nods.*
Dr. Robotnik: "The Super Death Egg has no operational offenses. It was pretty well wrecked by GUN. Amazing it survived at all. Worse he might do is crash a shuttle into you."
Aribar: "And at any time we can contact you--how are we going to call you, by the way?--and transport away, correct?"
Garrick: "Well, I'd think we need to cover all our bases."
Zero: "How about I launch two missiles? This is a whole silo. There's at least two of them I can launch from here. And they all look the same. Made for a giant war which never truly occurred by the humans."
Digifanatic: "Ohhhh."
Dragoshi: "Swell."
Metal Man (GM): A replacement capsule is quickly built atop the missile nearby.
Aribar: "What would launching two missiles do exactly?"
Dr. Robotnik: "Mwoohoohoohoo. Don't worry... this will crash into the section where the device should be. Then you can go ahead and take out Red Text!"
Zero: "The second one would be an unaltered destructive missile. It could be made to hit a separate segment, and just completely destroy it. This would limit anyone's ability to attack you, and look the same as the one you're using to reach there."
Garrick: "So it'd be a fifty-fifty shot... well, I guess it's better than nothing."
Metal Man (GM): A few moments go by. The capsule is finished.
Dr. Robotnik: "Well, we're ready to go. Here is the remote to my device up there. Press the green button to enable the warp sync... press the red one for a second burst of EMP in case things get hairy. I suggest you run if Red Text won't die like the others."
Garrick: "So, basic mission parameters... get in there, kill Red Text, press the green button, warp out. Simple enough..."
Aribar: "How will this help us find X again? Will control of the station return to you, Eggman, if we kill the Red Text man?"
Zero: "We needed a satellite to scan for or perhaps radio for him."
Dr. Robotnik: "Yes, it will."
Metal Man (GM): The rocket is ready; a small capsule that can fit all of the Questers is there.
Zero: "I'll stay down here..."
Dr. Robotnik: "As will I. You can radio us."
Garrick: "I can do that simple... let's get this show on the road."
Dragoshi: "Let's."
Digifanatic: *thumbs up.*
Garrick nods and checks the place over for any equipment he could use...
Metal Man (GM): Garrick sees mostly pieces of scrap metal.
Garrick: "Meh... well, maybe I can get some stuff up on the SDE..." *shrugs and heads for the capsule, making to strap himself in and such.*
Aribar: "Well, I've no regrets. Or at least none that come to mind at the current time. Whenever everyone has the missile ready, I'll be ready as well."
Digifanatic: *dittos Garrick.*
Dragoshi: *CAPSULE... ENTERU.*
Aribar follows Dragoshi.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk into the capsule, strap in, aaaand... the capsule slowly turns on. Zero and Eggman watch on as it slowly turns on and... soon begins flying with all of the Questers inside.
Garrick: "We're gonna need to be lightning quick in there. Get in, find Red Text, take him out as fast as possible. The quicker he goes down, the less likely he'll do something... crazy to us."
Aribar: "Here's hoping we don't die a horrible death."
Metal Man (GM): As the capsules approach, they hear an awful screeching on the radio, which then resolves into clicking. Hm, figures. Red Text refuses to use voice. Even when given the chance. The Questers can see the Super Death Egg in fully, now. Hmmm...
Garrick looks out the minimal window at it...
Metal Man (GM): The Super Death Egg is mostly in pieces, but there's one larger core part the Questers are heading towards. It, however, is also nonoperational.
Garrick: "Alright, here's the plan... Drag, Ari. Find Red Text and keep him busy. Digi and I will find a console to locate X. We'll meet up with you as soon as we have the info."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers have no problem crashing into the sphere... it hurls everyone around a bit. Then the explosion as the other side is hit rocks them around some more. But nothing really happens. The capsule even has a decent seal and the Questers can just walk aboard. This seems fishy...
Garrick: "...alright... let's move."
Digifanatic: *climbs out and hangs with G-man.*
Garrick unstraps and makes to get out, kicking the door off the rocket capsule part and moving inside the place, his gun drawn.
Aribar sits in the capsules until Dragoshi leaves. He is really out of his element here and will just be following Dragoshi about the station. The half-elf doesn't want to accidentally cut off their air or something.
Metal Man (GM): It's mostly dark here. The lights were knocked out, but a few blinking emergency ones remain on.
Dragoshi: *Also climbs out and looks around...*
Metal Man (GM): This was the place the Questers failed to get to before. A terminal is also nearby, blinking. Many of the doors are shut, but one veers off to the left.
Aribar: "Lightning magic is probably bad to use. Fire magic as well. No idea if ice, water, or wind magic would be dangerous." *He mutters to himself as he climbs out of the capsule.*
Metal Man (GM): The station is very high tech, but hasn't been used for a while.
Garrick heads over to the terminal, looking it over... he tries to use it to get a map or general direction toward Red Text and the targeting area where they can locate X.
Digifanatic: *follow.*
Metal Man (GM): It has some rudimentary security.
Digifanatic: "May I?"
Garrick: "I've still got it... somewhat..."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick takes charge and hacks into it. It has many applications, one of which is a mapping utility. Another controls the radio.
Digifanatic: *checks out the mapping.*
Garrick first checks to see if he can get a hold of X's location from this particular part.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick doesn't particularly know what to look for. He has a radio, though. In fact, it can reach allll over the planet.
Digifanatic: "Hmm..." *looks for a help file for the mapping. *
Metal Man (GM): Digi finds one. It shows him how to make a map and place things on it. Not useful for finding X.
Garrick frowns, sighing, then opens up the radio.
Aribar: "I don't even know where to begin looking for the Red Text man. Should we just randomly wander about?"
Digifanatic: "Yup, this isn't the kind of map program we want."
Garrick: "It's a map of this place, most likely..."
Metal Man (GM): *click.* Garrick has it set so he can talk.
Dragoshi: *Is tapping his foot and trying to figure out whether he should go into the loving obvious entrance, or try to break open a door that isn't obviously open.* *loving obvious left door.
Garrick: "...Zero. Come in, Zero. Can you read?"
Zero: (C) "Yes, I can."
Garrick: (C) "Good, this signal works... alright, I'm going to search for X's radio signal, then relay it to you. I'll need his frequency."
Zero: (C) "Right, it is..." *Frequency number here.* "Good luck."
Digifanatic: "Very nice. And thank you."
Aribar: .oO(If they've done this much work then we might as well wait. It sounds like it shouldn't take Garrick and Digi long find X.)
Garrick: "Alright... here goes nothing..." *tunes to the frequency Zero gave him, then starts it up.*
Metal Man (GM): More static, then the satellite picks up his location... He has been trapped somewhere in Continia, of all places.
Garrick: (C) "Mega Man X. Come in, X. Do you read?"
???: (C) "*static.*"
Garrick: "Got him..."
Dragoshi: "Where is he?"
Digifanatic: *mutters to Garrick.* "Ohhh, he was near us all along..."
Garrick: "...huh... says he's in the middle of Continia."
Digifanatic: *to Dragoshi.* "Continia..."
Zero: (C) "He probably can't respond properly. His radio's busted."
Deloth: "...He was THAT CLOSE?"
Garrick tries to narrow it down further.
Dragoshi: "Continia? ...So, we just missed him."
Digifanatic: "But we have a location... yeah."
Deloth facepalms and groans.
Digifanatic: .oO(What's next, we find ou--DON'T GO THERE.)
Metal Man (GM): Odd... it's in the middle of the desert.
Garrick: "Wonderful... Alright, we have his location. Now to find Red Text." *pulls up that mapping program and checks it over.*
Metal Man (GM): Garrick looks over it. Nothing new, however the point is right where some mountains are. There are two other doors in the room besides the obvious one... They're locked shut.
Dragoshi: *Walks over to the first of the two locked doors, and tries to ram it down with his scythe.* :x
Garrick was talking about finding Red Text in the satellite, not X.
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi rams into the door.
Computer: "Do not hit the door. There is no air beyond it. Catastrophic loss of atmosphere is possible."'
Dragoshi: "...Is that the same case for the other locked door?"
Computer: "Yes."
Dragoshi: "Okay. Thanks. Is the open path the same as well, or no...?"
Computer: "The open path is usable."
Garrick: "I'm surprised an A.I. is functioning... alright, let's move." *heads after Drag into the only possible way forward.*
Digifanatic: *follows.*
Deloth: "Shame. I wanted to see what was behind that other door..."
Aribar: *Following powers, activate!*
Deloth follows the others.
Dragoshi: *Moves on along. Wheeeee.*
Garrick: "A vacuum that would kill us."
Deloth: "Oh, like YOU know."
Digifanatic: "Uh, we could hear it over the PA."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk over into the next room. It is full of monitors, which have been rigged up just recently.
Aribar: "Unless it was only a diversion from the Red Text man. I don't want to test that hypothesis, though."
Dragoshi: "In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if it was."
Garrick: "I'd have to agree... now keep it quiet."
Metal Man (GM): The monitors light up one by one.
Digifanatic: "Normally, I'd rather believe everything, and right now, I'd rather believe that was space behind that door and we keep it shut."
Metal Man (GM): They begin displaying... red text.
Digifanatic: "Here we go."
Red: 'I bet you think you've got me now.'
Dragoshi: "Not really, no."
Red: 'But you couldn't be more wrong.'
Metal Man (GM): A tube raises up, showing Vylch.
Dragoshi: "I just said 'not really, no', you idjit."
Aribar: "We've beaten him twice before."
Red: 'My one-time friend Jack sent me this present, before betraying me for you. Apparently he has no loyalties to anyone. Perhaps you beat him as he is. But you don't know what I've done.'
Aribar: "What have you done?"
Red: 'This.'
Dragoshi: .oO(Nothing that's any of our business, I bet.) :/
Metal Man (GM): Another Vylch walks into the room.
Dragoshi: "You cloned him."
Red: 'How many of these can you beat, again?'
Garrick: "...who's this joker?"
Metal Man (GM): A third one walks into the room.
Garrick glances to Drag, drawing his weapons...
Digifanatic: "Some psycho after Metal..."
Red: 'Of course, the original is truly special. I couldn't let him be mixed in with his clones. And I know you are especially tough people, who would likely find some way to get around an out-and-out fight.'
Metal Man (GM): The screens show Continia.
Dragoshi: "..." *Casts Ward while Red Text is blabbing...*
Aribar: "So let's just evade the whole fight and get on with finding you then."
Red: 'While you were busy trying to get here, I established a connection in Continia. The Feds are MINE now. They will take care of your pathetic ground-based presence for me while you are here. For you so eagerly used an open radio while I was listening. Did I mention I have their... technology?'
Aribar: "What exactly do you want with us?"
Metal Man (GM): The Vylches become shielded. The two awake ones take out AR-53s.
Garrick: "...this won't end well..."
Red: 'I want you to DIE.'
Dragoshi: "So you're just going to ass-pull us to death. Gotcha."
Metal Man (GM): *HISSSSS.*
Aribar: "But before you wanted to use us. Why?"
Red: 'To kill you.'
Garrick: "Is now really the time, Ari..."
Computer: "Losing atmosphere..."
Aribar: "He's actually talking to us... Hm."
Digifanatic: "AND WE'RE LOSING AIR!"
Red: 'Of course... you could just join me. I have people everywhere.'
Garrick: "Screw it. We're running on a ticking clock. We trash these clones, zap this Red Text, and warp out."
Aribar: "That is sort of what I wanted to know; what IS it that you're trying to do?"
Deloth: "..."
Red: 'I must protect the planet from something very big... and you are in my way.'
Deloth whips around and stabs at Aribar. Twice.
Red: 'So, have fun dying!'
Garrick: "...oh, for the love of..."
Aribar: "We may do a bad job at it, but--Not again!"
Red: 'HA HA HAHA HA.'
Dragoshi: "You know."
Metal Man (GM): The monitors all explode simultaneously, threatening everyone except Deloth.
Dragoshi: "...Never mind."
Metal Man (GM): More damage to Aribar and Garrick.
Deloth stands there with his arms crossed, grinning as every monitor bit misses him.
Metal Man (GM): The middle Vylch wakes up.
Vylch: "...Yeees... you are here! Hahahahaha! ...Who are these clones?"
Dragoshi: "Some jerks that Red Text guy created. He's using you!"
Vylch 2: "I am your friend period. Let us kill Questers together exclamation mark."
Vyclh 3: "101 10110101010101101101011."
Dragoshi: "..."
Vylch: "Using me? I'll be the judge of that!"
Dragoshi: "Good!"
Computer: "Atmosphere is at 98% and falling."
Deloth: "Ah, smell that wonderful air." *casually walks over to the Vylches, turns around, and ducks into battle position.*
Vylch 2: "Hit the one with the pistol period. He is dangerous exclamation mark."
Digifanatic: .oO(And what did HE do?!)
Garrick: "You fucking PRICK, Del!"
Deloth: "Yes, sir. I'll knock his head off."
Vylch: "Hmmm... well, I am not so sure if I hate you friends of Metal Man more than the weird people who have decided to help me."
Digifanatic: "He wants to kill himself and end his misery now, I guess."
Metal Man (GM): There is a certain look to Deloth's eyes... it just isn't the same look Deloth gives.
Digifanatic: "Or he's being commanded. I doubt he'd turn on us unless he was brainwashed or this simply isn't the real Deloth."
Dragoshi: "Or maybe Red Text is just having fun being a complete and total asshat. Who knows?"
Metal Man (GM): Vylch takes a piece of paper out of his pocket.
Deloth casually blasts at Garrick with a trio of Light Pillars.
Vylch: "Hmmmm..."
Digifanatic: *quietly.* "Well, there are two ways this ends. One, he's a manufactured Deloth that isn't even part of our allegiance anyways, or two, he's brainwashed and he'll just be out cold for a while just like the rest of us."
Metal Man (GM): Vylch appears conflicted.
Vylch: "While I would like them dead, these other people would make it too easy..."
Garrick is still not into his old self, not able to really keep up with the other Questers, especially one that's turned against him. He gets slammed three times and probably thrown back into the wall near the door they used to walk into the place.
Vylch 2: "Do what the master says Vylch exclamation mark. You are not to let them live period."
Vylch: "I have no master but myself, but thanks, myself."
Garrick coughs as he slowly stands up. "Del has forfeited his right to live, brainwashed or not. Take him out."
Digifanatic does the wisest thing he can do for this turn: he hits Deloth once with a boring punch just to see if this Deloth reacts any differently than normally. Afterwards, he tries one more dose of Elemental Will -> Electric Punch on Vylch Clone 1.
Deloth laughs. "So we meet again, Garrick. Only this time you won't be able to destroy my world."
Metal Man (GM): Digi hits the fake Vylch. He hits his force field.
Dragoshi: *Attempts to tear apart the first Clone's force field with a couple of slashes from his sword!*
Metal Man (GM): Hit, hit.
Aribar sighs and wonders how many times he has been betrayed. On Whaller he was betrayed by his mentor and hero. On Nintendus he was betrayed countless times, the most prominent in his mind being Magellean's betrayal. He has even betrayed the Questers are several accounts. The mage has gotten tired of nearly a decade of such backstabbing. He points a finger at the traitor. "Deloth, you have seen my power first hand. Stab me once, shame on you. Stab me twice, shame on me for thinking that you were still sane! It may be my dying act, but I will show you: never invoke the ire of a Jentanian wizard!" He summons up the well of magical energy within him. Electricity arcs about hand and focuses into an orb on the fingertip pointed at Deloth. Four bolts of electricity streak through the air and unerringly slam right into the shape-shifting fiend.* (Electrical Ele x 4.)
Metal Man (GM): Deloth gets nailed.
Deloth casually takes all four shots to the chest, still smirking insanely.
Digifanatic: *quietly.* "50% that's not the real Deloth..."
Deloth then casually looks around at his surroundings. "I must admit, this place is quite strange. But I think I will make good use of it once I am through with you."
Vylch: "Hm."
Dragoshi: "...Hm?"
Vylch: "Which one of you can take me to Metal Man if I give you assistance?"
Garrick: "We don't know where he is... and hell, if I DID know where he was, I'd HELP you in kicking his steel covered ass."
Vylch: "Of course, this is supposed to make me stronger..." He takes out a rocket launcher "...But there is only one good gun ever made, and I have it already."
Dragoshi: ...Can I have it, then?" >_> "...Seriously, though. I'm kinda in the same boat as Garrick at this point."
Aribar would potentially have an answer of Vylch, but he's single-mindedly focused on Deloth.
Vylch: "..." He thinks. "I just realized... I am in the best situation..."
Dragoshi: "...Pretty much, yeah."
Vylch: "...Very well... you will find me Metal Man... and assist me... orrrr..."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out the note and eats it.
Vylch: "I will never, ever tell you what was on this note which may kill you even if you escape this battle. I suspect that red text thing wants me to help him, but I do not work for anybody. On the other hand, I want to watch a pitched battle."
Metal Man (GM): He walks to the side.
Garrick glances to the side...
Vylch: "Kill the fakes and beat up that other guy and I will heeeelp you."
Garrick looks to Dragoshi... shrugging...
Dragoshi: *Also shrugs.*
Garrick: "Deal."
Dragoshi: "Yea. At this point, I just want to end this idiocy."
Vylch 2: "Sigh period. Stupid Red Text exclamation mark. He did not research me period. Oh well, now you die period."
Metal Man (GM): He shoots at Aribar with his machinegun.
Garrick: "Damn, are these clones, or robots?"
Dragoshi: "Technically, they're both."
Aribar flinches as he hears the shots, but does little in the way of actually dodging.
Vylch: "Copies of my nanites, made by a sophisticated machine. That is why them fighting you is rather interesting."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar takes damage from the strafing fire.
Garrick: "...nanites..."
Dragoshi: "Yep..."
Garrick: "...alright... Drag, I need you to watch my ass if I screw this up."
Metal Man (GM): The other Vylch then fires at Dragoshi with his machinegun.
Dragoshi: "Understood."
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Garrick holsters his gun and dagger, glaring at the Fake Vylch that hasn't been damaged yet... he prays that he can pulls his off internally as he suddenly charges the target, his hands raised as he traces paths in the air with both of the, a throbbing red light shining from them. Yes, folks, to some extent, he still has it.
Aribar is now a bloody mess; bleeding out of one sword wound and numerous bullet holes, the caturized laser sword wound, his shirt stained red, mantle filled with holes... Who knows what's keeping him standing?*
Garrick: "Here goes nothing... I CALL TO THEE, SOLARIAN POWERS, WHAT LITTLE OF YOU THAT REMAIN IN MY BEING! GRANT ME THE STRENGTH TO REND SCIENCE AND MAGIC!" *He leaps at the clone, his hands glimmering as he connects with his face and chest, forcing his will on the bot to delve into the nanites in it and overcharge them with electricity, attempting to short the clone out and hopefully render it useless.*
Deloth: "Solarian powers are nothing, you fool. I know the true power of the universe. THAT is why I am here!"
Dragoshi: *Rolls eyes.*
Metal Man (GM): Nothing happens, although the Vylch robot is momentarily confused.
Garrick: "...for christ sake..."
Digifanatic: .oO(That definitely doesn't sound like the typical Deloth.)
Deloth fires two Light Pillars at Ari, one at Digi.
Metal Man (GM): The three attacks come just short of hitting their targets, for some reason...
Aribar lurches forward in an attempt to dodge!
Dragoshi: "...Hmph." *Smirks as he sees the pillars fail.*
Deloth then whips out... a translucent gun? Where the hell was that from?
Metal Man (GM): The attacks travel back to Deloth before they hit the Questers. For some other reason. They form the gun.
Deloth: "This... shall AVENGE MY LOSS!" *fires said gun at Dragoshi. One shot. Straight at the heart.*
Dragoshi: *Doesn't know what the fuck.*
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* It deals a whopping ton of damage.
Dragoshi: *Still standing.* *Hilariously beaten up, though.* :/
Deloth: "Alright... now... time for..." *suddenly crashes to the floor, out cold.*
Vylch: "I must say, this is quite a battle. Now to see if my clones can defeat you."
Digifanatic: "Okay, I have no idea what the heck just happened, buuuuuut..."
Dragoshi: "...a little help here?"
Garrick gets as far back as he can from the Vylch clones, his body panting horribly, slumped over...
Digifanatic plays defense for now... he hands Dragoshi a Health Tonic and tries to slyly Digital Barrier-up Aribar...
Dragoshi: *Quickly gulps down the tonic.*
Aribar mutters something that might be a thanks to Digi.
Dragoshi: *Sighs as he tries to tear into the Vylch clone with two more slashes from his sword. A-yep.*
Metal Man (GM): Tear Dragoshi does.
Aribar looks at Deloth's unconscious body. He doesn't know what to do now and feels rather tired. The blood loss is probably one of the causes. He looks to the fake Vylches. He hasn't been paying much attention to the rest of the fight; he knows they have shields, but little else. He points at one of the clones and fires three weak but lightning-fast bolts of electricity.
Metal Man (GM): It hits the force field and damages it normally. The shield shatters and the Vylch recoils.
Vylch 2: "Gah exclamation mark. That was bad period. Do I have another shield question mark."
Vylch 3: "101011110101010101."
Vylch 2: "Curses period."
Dragoshi: .oO(Taking that as a 'no'...)
Metal Man (GM): Vylch 2 attacks Aribar with machinegun fire. He hits himself on the stock. Ow.
Dragoshi: *Winces as he sees 'im do that.*
Aribar falls to the floor to dodge, but even if it hits...*
Metal Man (GM): He misses. Vylch 3 attacks Digi. Assuming he is the healer. Vylch 3 is looking rather messed up. His copy quality is low. The shield was there to protect him from this fact.
Garrick growls and pants, gulping a bit as he raises his gun shakily and squeezes off two shots at him.
Digifanatic: .oO(Okay, then...) *mostly shrugs it off even though that was a hit.*
Metal Man (GM): Miss, hit. His head asplode, as he falls over, dead. That leaves one Vylch clone.
Dragoshi: "...So the only thing that's making these jerks a semblance of a threat are the barrier and their weapon."
Digifanatic just goes straight for the last Vylch now. A good golf club to the chest might take some wind outta him.
Dragoshi: "...How am I not surprised?" e_e
Metal Man (GM): Digifanatic uses the force to hit Vylch 3.
Vylch: "Well, the secret is, I was supposed to kill you. But I feel Red Text is wasting his options. You are very reasonable people."
Dragoshi: "...That we are."
Vylch: "And I figure if you are willing to let me settle my debts, you may live to another day."
Computer: "Atmosphere at 90%."
Vylch: "Also, his atmosphere leak is far too slow."
Dragoshi: "...Yeah, seriously. ...Good for me, though." *Continues his usual barrier-slashing tirade.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit, miss.
Aribar slowly gets back up to his feet and tries something different; he summons a large snowflake with flies towards Vylch and explodes on impact. Freeze!*
Metal Man (GM): The remaining Fake Vylch can't shoot at all. How sad for him. Aribar's ice attack must have messed him up.
Vylch: "Hmmm..."
Garrick grunts, panting, his body feeling heavy from using his technique for the first time in ages and ineffectively at that... he raises his gun again, sighting down the sights and pumping two more shots into the other Vylch.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick shoots at the other Vylch. Who gets hit twice just now. That one falls apart as well. Oddly, another red monitor pops from the ceiling.
Red: 'So, you have passed the first test. I shall allow you to leave and find X. There, you shall find my second test. It is fully my intent to kill you... however... should you pass all of my tests... then you will be worthy of fighting me in person.'
Garrick: "...and just... how many... are there? These tests...?"
Digifanatic: *scoffs and raises an eyebrow.*
Red: 'One for every color of the rainbow.'
Digifanatic: "So there should be six to go..."
Dragoshi: "So we just completed the 'Red' test."
Aribar stares at the monitor. It takes the mage a few seconds to read the text as it appears on the screen.*
Dragoshi: "So, next is 'Orange'..."
Metal Man (GM): The lights turn on and the air flow stops hissing out.
Aribar: "You said that we were stopping you from protecting this planet. We may be bad at it, but we try to protect what we can."
Digifanatic does, indeed, wait to see if the text changes colors...
Aribar: "Why are we fighting over the same thing?"
Digifanatic: .oO(Come on orange...)
Dragoshi: *Grumbles.* "Like he'll tell us..."
Digifanatic: "Not after purple at least..."
Metal Man (GM): The monitor simply goes into the ceiling.
Vylch: "The piece of paper is part of your next test. Apparently he wants you to work with me. He has engineered it so that the Feds have taken Mega Man X into custody. Only I know the code that releases him from an otherwise permanent trap."
Dragoshi: "Which shade of purple, though? Indigo or Violet?" <_< *In response to Digi.*
Garrick: "Fine... let's get out of here..."
Vylch: "And what I not... is far away from this robot person."
Metal Man (GM): He opens the door, revealing the way to the warp device.
Vylch: "By the way... take this back with you."
Metal Man (GM): He gives the Questers the warp jammer.
Dragoshi: *Takes the Jammer.* "Thank you."
Vylch: "He no longer needs the warp, although he remains on the station."
Digifanatic: "Well, indigo is its own color between blue and purple... so violet."
Vylch: "He has built a new presence down below. I assume this is going to be the next obstacle for you. Of course, you are free to take your time. So I will let you." He walks into the warp.
Digifanatic: "May we please see the paper? I say follow him."
Aribar limps towards the warp room. He doesn't stay to listen to the Questers discuss things. He just passes by Deloth's body. He just wants to sit down no.*
Digifanatic: "I wouldn't mind some rest, but I'd at least like to know what we have to do before hand."
Garrick: "We rest... back on solid ground..."
Digifanatic: "Yes... with or without this Deloth body?"
Dragoshi: *Yes. Also, Dragoshi looks at the weapons on the Fake Vylch corpses.*
Garrick grunts as he sorta toddles over to one of the robots, looking it over... he glances to Drag. "What them?"
Dragoshi: "Sure. I was thinking about taking them. Though... Do you want one of 'em as well?"
Garrick: "One would be better than this damn pistol..."
Dragoshi: "Then by all means, do take one." *Also goes to temporarily relieve Del of his weapons after taking one of the AR-53s or whatever... Just in case.*
Garrick takes one of them, placing it on his belt, then grabs Del by the foot and drags him into the warp.
Digifanatic: *warps, hoping Vylch isn't too far off where they arrive.*
Dragoshi: *And then Dragoshi leaves. Hoo-rah.*
Metal Man (GM): Session finished.
