Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 4: Ancient Futuristic Deathrays
Date: August 11th & 16th, 2008.
Trivia: Thesquare (GM_Link's RPG) died forever on the 11th of August.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers' work has repowered the base. Julian's a bit out of it now from what the others did to him (accidentally), however. The base is, as it was left off, in the midst of the deep jungle. The Eggrobo is standing besides it. The sun is low in the sky.
Deloth: "So what does this base have, anyways?"
Eggrobo: "You have repowered the base. Hail to the new Eggmen." It salutes, slowly. "However, we have only a few limited things we can do... for now, at least. Follow me." It walks inside the base, clanking.
Dragoshi: *Nods, and follows behind the Eggrobo.*
Deloth follows it. Great, more things to do.
Digifanatic just follows for now. .oO(I'm just with them... just with them...)
Metal Man (GM): It shows the Questers this floor, which is most certainly the central control floor. Only it has been horribly wrecked. There's even a door which used to go further down, but it's been sealed off, and is marked 'destroyed by Sonic'
Aribar trails after the others, only half paying attention to what the Eggrobo is saying. The elf is in thought about the reprecussions that would follow GUN finding this base..*
Metal Man (GM): A sparking, bullet-riddled main control panel sits in the center, struggling to render even a basic picture. Loose wires spark, and the Questers see the room as sort of a scene of Eggman's last stand; Tables knocked over and then filled with bullet holes... Busted machines... a large hole in the wall... Discarded busted GUN equipment... And telltale debris and movement of GUN soldiers.
Lance: "What a mess. What a fight this must of been." *Adjusts his glasses.*
Eggrobo: "So much is broken, that, rather than ask you to fix all of it, I will ask you... what do you need in this world to be done?"
Deloth: *Checks if any of this junk is salvageable.*
Metal Man (GM): The area has been picked over and anything left behind as of now that works is probably more useful being powered by the cell the Questers brought rather than taken off and sold. It's an old place, long abandoned, long looted.
Digifanatic: "Well, it would help this island well if we put some thugs to justice."
Metal Man (GM): The weird, proprietary Eggman parts probably don't even have a use anywhere else.
Aribar looks to the others and wonders what they want done. He is heartened by what Digi says, though.*
Eggrobo: "Thugs." The robot sits for a moment, then comes back to life. "There is a robot factory here. If it was repaired, the thugs could be categorically destroyed."
Lance: "And cause another war."
Eggrobo: "You might want to help repair the base defenses, however... I project thugs would come to attack us, or even GUN members who don't understand your purpose."
Digifanatic: "Yup... that last part sounds about right."
Eggrobo: "I additionally project a 2-3 day grace period before we must either rebuild the defenses here or leave and start anew, as people will get suspicious and perhaps attack or attempt to steal newly revealed parts."
Aribar: "I think one of our goals should be to attempt and appear as a power that wants to help GUN, rather one that retaliates hostily to any GUN officers..."
Deloth: "Then we should probably start now."
Eggrobo: "It is a dire day for the Eggman empire, with Ivo Robotnik missing and his machines in ruin. Your first step was barely enough to prevent it from dying permanently..."
Metal Man (GM): The parts were given to the person who requested them, who built the boat as he wanted. The Questers got to keep the money, then they didn't really seem to know where they wanted to go. They then saw a rogue Eggrobo which fled from them. They chased it through a forest to the abandoned base the Questers are currently in. (Editor's note: This was probably a recap for a lost person. I'm leaving it here in case the other one didn't do it for you.)
Aribar: "I suppose that we should set up defenses, but make sure that they're capable of distinguishing the different factions of this island and respond appropriately."
Metal Man (GM): Then they decided to help it repower the base... so they walked on off to the city and bought a power cell from Al. They brought it back and then repowered the base, and here they are... They wanted a place to rest in, apparently. The robot offered them control over the base if they'd bring the cell.
Aribar: "Yeah... Make sure this base isn't taken by any other people, and then we can go back to doing what we were planning... Which is something I sort of missed out on."
Lance: "Well, before we do any defense changes, you have a few changes to make to yourself egg-robo."
Eggrobo: "I would if I could." It pokes itself. "But even with two hands, I am not capable of self-repair." It shoots a spark, almost as if on command. "The Egg robot repair chamber must be repaired."
Dragoshi: "...I see."
Lance: "I mean personalty wise."
Dragoshi: "Okay... Then, what does it need to be repaired?"
Lance: "Since you are adapting to talk to us."
Eggrobo: "Does not compute." It turns to Dragoshi. "It requires a number of mechanical motors and arms. The place which supplied the power cell should have it. But do you have any money?"
Dragoshi: "Sadly, no."
Deloth: "Not anymore."
Eggrobo: "Very well." It sits for a moment... thinking.
Lance: "That was the most human drop subject and change I seen."
Eggrobo: "...Loading map... ...You can acquire money from the downed Egg Carrier near Station Square. If you should choose." The robot stands there, near the full-powered power cell.
Eggrobo: "It went down with the treasury on board... the ship may have a few unfortunate machines left aboard it in the way, however."
Deloth: "Incidentally, I have a question. How long will this power cell last?"
Digifanatic: "Judging by the size, probably a while."
Eggrobo: "This?" It scans the cell. "It possesses great power. We are using .01% of its power."
Aribar: "Would GUN or anyone come after us if we went in and scavenged this Egg Carrier?"
Eggrobo: "By the time it runs out, replacing it should be an automatic thing. Unless you move away. But you don't care then."
Lance: "Speaking of that, what ever happened to leaving this island anyway?"
Eggrobo: "I do not know. I have been deactivated for a while. GUN appears to have a presence more than when I was last alive..." It gives a noncommittal answer.
Metal Man (GM): It'd also be well known to the group that, at least by now, Marley's boat is probably operational. As they last left he was... building it back up, and they spent so much time wandering around...
Deloth: "Well. Boat or Carrier?"
Dragoshi: "...Can't we just use the boat to go to the Carrier?" :/
Digifanatic: "Well, we can use Marley's boat, but we still have to go under the surface if we want to scourge the carrier... hopefully he knows how to get some scuba gear or something."
Eggrobo: "Unless something has changed, at least a part of the carrier is above water."
Digifanatic: "Oh, I didn't realize that. I thought the whole thing would be under. Well, that helps our cause."
Deloth: "Then let's do it. Is there any way we can stay in contact with the base?"
Eggrobo: "Hm..." It presses the 'comm' button on the panel. Sparks fly. Nothing happens. "That would be no."
Deloth: "Damn. Where's Snake and his codec when you need it?"
Eggrobo: "The base is widely thought to be dead. You have at least a day before the wandering people find it. I will tone down the power level while you are gone."
Digifanatic: "Well. Carrier, guys?"
Deloth: "Let's do it." *starts heading out of the base.*
Aribar shrugs noncommittally.* "So, Eggrobo, you will be working on this base while we are gone?"
Trigger follows Deloth out of the base.
Lance: "I still say it's a bad idea to power up something that lead to a war before, but since I am outvoted, let's go."
Digifanatic: *follows Deloth... LET'S WATCH OUT FOR THE PITS AND CLIFFS THIS TIME!*
Lance turns to the egg robo. "Learn some good morals, it could help out our case, when/if we get caught by GUN." He then turns and follows the others.
Aribar awaits an answer from the robo before heading out the doors with the others.
Deloth: "So. We get the cash, buy some parts, and make a beeline back here. And pray GUN doesn't show up before we can get this set of dominoes set up."
Dragoshi: *Casually follows on behind the others.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers begin wandering away from the base, a group semi-divided. Or, the group and Lance divided. Either way, they're taking a now rather obvious path back to normal land, as they've done this path two-three times before. Unfortunately this means the base will become readily visible in no time, as every step further kills off the grass and plants which used to grow where the path is.
Deloth: *cues the 24-style clock.*
Digifanatic looks down at the path, muttering, "We've got to find some way to avert an obvious crisis with this."
Deloth: "There's always the bald-faced lie."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers now on the emerald coast. It's night...
Digifanatic continues down the coastline, looking for Marley and/or his boat.
Dragoshi: *Does the same. Whee.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers see Marley there. His boat's pretty much finished.
Marley: "Eh, you again? What's been up, then?" He leans on the boat, which is simply missing some paint and a little bit of glass.
Lance: "Very nice job."
Digifanatic: "Evening... yeah, it's coming out well. So, we have a request, if you don't mind, Marley."
Marley: "N' that is?"
Aribar mutters a belated greeting to Marley.* "We just went searching for something we thought we saw in the jungle..."
Digifanatic: "We'd like to use the boat and sail it over to the Egg Carrier."
Marley: "Well, that's a bit strange, there's already a boat for that... in Station Square. 'Sides, I'm busy putting windows in this thing."
Aribar: "Apologies. We didn't even know if it was legal to go and look inside of it..."
Digifanatic: "Oh... but if we went to the boat in Station Square, which albeit we haven't really paid a glance it, there's a likely chance someone might see one of us..."
Lance: "Wow, you two."
Digifanatic: "Hey, I admit to not paying attention to it because I was more concerned about getting him his parts."
Lance: "It's obviously a tourist attraction, skulking around in a different boat would make it obvious."
Deloth just rolls his eyes and watches the ocean.
Marley: "It's sort of... yeah. What d'ya need from that hulk anyway?"
Lance: "I don't think anyone asked."
Marley: "I mean, it's sorta rusted, and it's sorta plain... and there's some submerged junk nobody wants."
Lance looks to the others.
Digifanatic: "Well, we want the submerged junk. Rumors are there's some decent loot to be found."
Marley: "Well, you can do that, or you can do some more errands for me, and get money without having to risk your lives."
Metal Man (GM): He chuckles.
Digifanatic: "And seen as how we're still a bit strapped for cash, it might not be a bad place to look to keep us--eh? What would you like?"
Lance: "I like that idea, lets go with that."
Dragoshi: "Do tell."
Chancé: .oO(That eggrobo can find someone else. >_>)
Dragoshi: .oO(Maybe we can do the Egg Carrier thing as a side-job, anyway.)
Marley: "The boat, she's good, with those rare parts n' all you got... but I need me a crew member. It takes two to operate and you're probably not going to leave someone behind when we cross the outer sea area. If that's your plan..."
Aribar: "This sounds like a better alternative than swimming in something of Eggman's creation. Have you tried swimming with one arm? Not the easiest thing to do..."
Marley: "I'd just need somebody who can man a boat and repair an engine. And who can see stuff."
Lance: "Any idea where we can find someone?"
Digifanatic: "I could probably help pilot the boat well."
Lance: "Digi, the trip back. we can't leave him go back alone."
Digifanatic: "Right, but..."
Aribar: "The only people we've met have either tried to kill us, con us, or imprison us..."
Digifanatic: "Except you."
Aribar: "Aye. Not really anyone you'd want, Marley."
Lance: "Unless you have an idea where to find someone?"
Marley: "Eh. You want me to tell you who? I can do that, but it's probably more difficult than what you'd pick... if you were looking in a city, per se..."
Aribar: "Well, this is -your- crew mate. You should pick someone you're comfortable with."
Marley: "Out there in the Lost World area are many archaeologists, and one of them who's really old is actually a sailor. He hides out in the deep ruins because he hates society, but he'd love to get lost in the ocean too. He also is suspicious and... ...well, they didn't call him 'Jack the Widowmaker' for no reason. But I'm sure you could talk to him... eventually!"
Digifanatic: "Jack the Widowmaker... interesting one."
Lance: "Well, this could be interesting."
Digifanatic: "So let's see here." *pulls out the map.* "We've got to cut north, better off to avoid as much of the Ocean of Chaos as possible, but we also have to mind those two metropolitan areas in case someone sees us."
Marley: "Honestly, the cities are the safe spots. It's the thugs you want to avoid."
Metal Man (GM): He points North.
Marley: "Either way, your destination is there."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, but the last time we saw the thugs was on the outskirts of Station Square."
Aribar: "Do you have any other details about him? Anything he may want to join you? Other information about him?"
Marley: "He doesn't like humans, mobians, or robots much. I figure an offer to get even further away from them will be one he can't refuse."
Digifanatic: *looks at Deloth.* "Well, you're not one of those three. He's wandering off in his mind again..."
Aribar: "Thanks, Marley."
Lance: "Yes thank you."
Marley: "Always pleased to be a help... especially since you seem compelled to help me back."
Metal Man (GM): He nods and goes back to work. It's definitely night time now...
Digifanatic: *muttering to the others.* "We should get back before Julian really hates us."
Lance: "So, to the runes?"
Aribar: "I would... Rather not. He may hurt us... And we might as well. It may be night out, but... Eh, at least it'll be cool traveling."
Digifanatic: .oO(No shame in trying again) "Deloth?"
Deloth: *looking up.* "Hm?"
Digifanatic: "Well, here's the idea, since it seemed like you were wandering off in your psyche or something... Marley says we should find this guy over in the ruins area."
Trigger: *sarcastically.* "Hey, why don't we sit around a camp fire and tell stories about anything that pops in our heads..."
Deloth: "What for?"
Trigger: "Just a thought."
Metal Man (GM): The path ahead beckons.
Digifanatic: "He's giving us an opportunity to get away from the island and find someplace more suitable and sane. He says that this guy, Jack the Widowmaker is what's he known by, hates humans, Mobians, and robots. You are not one of those three. Jack's hanging out in the ruins... So that's what I propose we do for tomorrow."
Digifanatic: "Deloth, do you mind being our lead man once we get there? We'll all tread equally beforehand, and like I said, since you're the farthest from any of those three groups, you'd go ahead when we get close."
Deloth: "I suppose you have a point... but there's a problem."
Lance: "And Gun would love to talk to us about it." *False Smile.*
Deloth: "The base is still powered and we bought the cell. Any fool could trace us to it and connect the dots."
Lance: "By then we will be off the island."
Deloth: "Dark. They can still track us."
Deloth: "They're a military organization. They have boats."
Lance: "Would GUN honestly care about us if we left, Look at Al?"
Aribar: "We don't have the money to pay them off."
Deloth: "Considering that we just powered up an Eggman base, survey says... hell yes."
Trigger: "But I don't think we should make GUN our enemy."
Lance: "We also need money to use the tourist boat anyway."
Trigger: "Unless they are and my brain just shut off... again."
Lance: "So Jack is the easy way of making legal money."
Deloth: "Yes, but he would hate nine-tenths of our group. Problem."
Dragoshi: .oO(...Personally, I think he's over-exaggerating.)
Lance: "Del, the thing is we don't have to be at the beach all the time."
Aribar: "And we have a proposal to take him even farther away from humanity than he already is, Del."
Deloth: "...Fine. Do what you want."
Lance: "SO everyone ready to go then?"
Aribar nods... And yawns. He's tired from all of the work they're already done that day.
Deloth: "So. Ready to go?"
Aribar: "I say we wait until tomorrow... Tired..."
Digifanatic: "Eh, I could go either way."
Trigger: "Maybe we should rest up before we go."
Lance looks at Ari... "I think I agree, it would make it easier to find in the day too."
Digifanatic: "I don't mind waiting."
Deloth: *shrug.* "Hey, I'll go by myself if you guys want to rest."
Digifanatic: "That would be the second separation of this group. I'm not sure if that's a wise idea."
Deloth: "I'm going to be the one convincing this nut anyways."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have backup. Besides, if he rejects your offer, the sooner we can discuss another idea."
Deloth: "Oh, sorry. Didn't realize you were scared."
Dragoshi: "..." *Eyeroll.*
Digifanatic: "I am not scared."
Deloth: "Then let's go. I'm tired of waiting around and doing nothing, damn it."
Aribar: "I'm willing to side with you Del, but you better be pretty good at playing 'Protect the Mage'. Because I'm still bruised and my arm still feels like mush from carrying that huge chaos drive."
Digifanatic: "Well, that shouldn't be terribly difficult."
Dragoshi: "...And I'm still somewhat sore. But, I still feel good."
Deloth: "That's why I'm wanting to go alone. Can't promise your safety."
Lance: "Yes, be we would be worried about your safety, we care about you Deloth. You know, team-mates and all that."
Deloth: "I can take care of myself."
Digifanatic: "But what if something happens to you? We don't have Smash Dexes or warp stones or any of that anymore..."
Deloth: "Then it happens. I told you earlier, I'm sick and tired of waiting around."
Aribar: "We could bury you in sand until the morning."
Deloth: "Just like I could give you a black eye. Right now."
Trigger: "We could break your legs."
Digifanatic: "Okay, fine, I'll let Deloth go."
Dragoshi: "Yea. Just let 'im go."
Trigger: "I don't care..."
Aribar: "So... Do you want the rest of us to trail after you tomorrow? Or for us to do our own thing?"
Deloth: "If I don't report back by tomorrow night, trail me."
Trigger: "Hey Del."
Trigger: "Tell God I said hello. When you die..."
Aribar: "Tell Death to give me back the five coins he owes me."
Deloth: "I have no intention of dying yet, I assure you."
Trigger: "Yeah, I went there..."
Deloth: "So. Shall we rest for the night?"
Trigger: "Well, good luck and have fun."
Aribar: "Then tell the thugs that capture you... Wait, rest?"
Deloth: "Sure. I just wanted a nice rush of anger before I went to sleep. Keeps a group galvanized."
Dragoshi: "That's retarded."
Trigger: "...That's a bit disturbing."
Dragoshi: "No, wait. Better yet. Just ridiculous."
Deloth: "Keep talking. I'm enjoying it."
Trigger conks Deloth in the head with the blunt side of his sword.
Lance hugs Deloth. A trickster after my own heart.
Digifanatic: "Wow. That was good."
Lance: "A trick... etc."
Aribar says nothing. The elf just plans that instead of burying Deloth in a sandcastle, it'll be a sand coffin.
Deloth rubs his head a bit. "So. Shall we retire for the night?"
Lance hits the sand.
Trigger: "...I think so, ya freak..." *laughs.*
Digifanatic: "Yeah, and I still think we should pick Jules back up before we find Jack. If nothing else, Widowmaker will listen to us once Julian starts talking."
Dragoshi: "...I suppose. I was tempted to see if the boat that takes people to the Carrier would accept people after dark. ...But, eh." *Just goes to sleep.*
Aribar buries Deloth in sand during the night.
Trigger: "Before I go to bed, what happened to Julian anyways?"
Aribar: "Recovering from being flattened back at the base."
Trigger: "...Ooookay. Well, good night."
Deloth digs out a breathing hole and dozes off in the warm sand. "G'night."
Trigger covers himself in sand and dozes off to sleep.
Digifanatic: "Night." *Eventually falls asleep well, blahblah.*
Metal Man (GM): After resting, the Questers are on their way through. They use the same old forest path they know well that leads to Station Square. And they know Station Square well, too. However they have a problem; you don't know how to get to the ruins Marley spoke of from here. Although they still have their pathetic, simple map to aid them... http://ssq.metalman88.com/segaregionmap.png. The only problem is the city itself doesn't seem to have any area that goes North... although it has a hotel with a beach area and a train station... and a freeway station which has been awkwardly placed starting behind the old parts building. The Questers are about dead-center of the town and nobody bad seems to have been tailing them.
Julian: *By now, Julian has returned to the group after recovering from being RUN OVER WITH A GIANT CHAOS REACTOR.* "We gonna need us a better map. Can't be walkin' around followin' a napkin."
Deloth: "Hey, if you have a way to get one while we're flat broke, I'm all ears."
Digifanatic: "And therein lies the problem..." .oO(Because someone decided to pay 30 rings for a Chaos Drive that didn't need to be that big...)
Julian: "I still got 30 rings. We spent all YOUR money on that reactor... an' hotel lobbies usually got free tourism info anyway. Ruins are a tourist attraction, right?"
Digifanatic: "Hotel... that's a good idea." *looks for the nearest hotel or, at the very least, one of those tourist info buildings.*
Metal Man (GM): Down at the south there's a big old motel with automatic doors and everything.
Julian: *To the big old motel!*
Deloth heads there.
Digifanatic: "Hey, I'll head in on my own if you think that'll make this scene any more smoothly. No objections?"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk in. Another woman is the receptionist.
Receptionist: "Hello. How can I help you?"
Digifanatic: "Hi. Can you show me where you keep all the maps and information?"
Receptionist: "We don't have much." She points to a handful of fliers showing Casinopolis, Emerald Beach, and such. "You can ask me, though."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... mind if I just flip through these for a little bit? I'm just looking for a good map of this island."
Receptionist: "That's sort of what they're for, so... yes, go ahead."
Lance: "Also, do you have information on the Lost World area?"
Receptionist: "No. It's an archaeological site, closed to tourists ever since the... Chaos incident."
Metal Man (GM): The Receptionist opens up a cupboard and points at a high water level that clearly included this entire first story.
Lance: "Chaos incident?"
Deloth: "What was that?"
Receptionist: "We fear more people like Eggman may, unintentionally, find and awake ancient beings which, once again, may destroy the town."
Metal Man (GM): Digi finds nothing much other than more pretty drawings of the same generic thing the Questers already have.
Receptionist: "Eggman found and released a water demon, which proceeded to destroy our town. Apparently he was planning to replace the town with... 'Robotnikland.'"
Digifanatic: "Huh... I thought I saw something weird out in the Ocean of Chaos."
Deloth: "...How could he possibly think that was a good idea?"
Receptionist: "Luckily, the flood and subsequent GUN confrontation removed that threat. But ever since then... we can't take any chances with people activating ancient curses. Even to this day Archaeologists vanish there at a high rate..."
Digifanatic: "Because he's an egotistical supervillain, that's why!"
Lance takes a glance at the maps, wanting one for himself.
Julian: "'Cause he's a nutjob. Anyway... so you're sayin' it's off-access to normal peeps?"
Dragoshi: "..." *Also takes a glance, 'cause weeeell... Why not.*
Receptionist: "Normal people, yes. You need a reason to go there, and one that doesn't end in 'World conquest.' Though if you have one, there's a train right next door you can use..."
Julian: "'Lookin' for a missing person' good enough?"
Receptionist: "Well, yes. Just... go to the train station and talk to them."
Julian: "...A'ight then." *Handful of pamphlets!* "We'll jus' be takin' these then."
Digifanatic: *mumbling to the others.* "And if we have to pay for the tickets?"
Deloth: *whispering.* "Let's just roll with it as it comes."
Digifanatic: *w* "Got it."
Lance: *w* Stop being so pessimistic.
Metal Man (GM): No matter how hard Lance looks, he doesn't seem to find any better map.
Digifanatic: *w* "No problem, I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I'm just trying to see if we have an alternate plan. Or at least come up with one a bit in advance, but oh well."
Receptionist: "Certainly, take as many as you need."
Julian: "Thanks for your help." *Exeunt.*
Lance: "Thank you, have a nice day." *follows.*
Digifanatic: *out loud.* "Thank you, ma'am." *grabs a couple for himself as well and heads for the station.*
Dragoshi: *Moseys on along, following behind the others.* :/
Deloth heads out again. Surprised that nobody commented on his appearance this time...
Julian: *To the train station!*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go to the train station, and find themselves in a small room which has no way ahead, except through a ticket booth. which is manned by a single man in a plain outfit.
Man: "Here for tickets, or something else?"
Digifanatic: "We would like tickets, please."
Julian: *Julian walks on up to the man.* "Hey my man, we need to go lookin' for someone in the Lost World area. Any chance we could score some tix?"
Man: "Okay, but I'll have to see some documentation. We've had enough treasure hunters nearly kill us all... Mostly I need to know your purpose and who sent you. That way we can trace it back to them if you so much as disturb anything a hair."
Digifanatic: *whispering to the group.* "So we gotta go back to the beach or just wipe this part out and continue on foot?"
Julian: "What kinda documentation?"
Man: "Well, either you're researchers or the assistant of one. Otherwise I can't let you in."
Lance: "Do you know Marley?"
Man: "Hm." He flips through files. "Well, that's interesting."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a very, very old file.
Man: "Long ago he did work here. He found the original materials which led to Eggman coming here, unfortunately. You saying he sent you? He's a legend, but I'll check if it's okay with you." He... picks up the phone?
Lance: "I am not sure if Marley has a cell phone, but you."
Deloth: *muttering.* "The plot thickens..."
Julian: "Didn' know he even had a phone."
Chancé: .oO(Marley Cellphone? Does. Not. Compute.)
Man: "Of course he does. In his boat."
Dragoshi: .oO(Of course.)
Digifanatic: .oO(Hey, this actually works out!)
Metal Man (GM): He calls it up.
Marley: "Ah, just who I was expecting."
Man: "These people---"
Marley: "They get in, no questions asked. You know what I've done, they're here for the mother lode."
Man: "But what? Nobody--"
Marley: "I could just get you fired instead."
Man: "Okay! Okay!" *Hangs up.*
Julian: "...Take it that means we get the tix."
Dragoshi: "Pretty much, yea."
Chancé: .oO(Wow, connections.)
Man: "Uh... you are clearly very SPECIAL guests... so please... enter before he has me fired and then burned over a fire."
Lance: "Well, that was interesting."
Metal Man (GM): He opens the way up.
Lance: "Thank you, Have a nice day!"
Julian: *Tips his hat.* "Pleasure doin' business wit' ya." *Onward!*
Dragoshi: "Alright, then. Thank you." *Heads on in.*
Man: "Just a... precaution. The mother lode is the most dangerous place... and the one man who went there never came back!"
Digifanatic: "Thank you in... deed!"
Deloth: "I think we can handle it."
Julian: "Figured that much."
Lance: "Nothing new."
Deloth walks through the entrance. Here we go again.
Lance: "It's always evil cave, dark ruins, magic forest..."
Lance enters grumbling along the lines of magical water in pink waves, and flying chickens of doom...
Metal Man (GM): The monorail car is very plush. Soft seats, windows, the works. The doors slide shut as the Questers enter. A recorded announcement plays.
Announcement: "Now leaving for the Mystic Ruins."
Digifanatic: *gets on.*
Julian: *Takes a seat, propping his equipment bag in the seat next to him.*
Dragoshi: *Takes a seat as well. Woo.* <_>
Metal Man (GM): The monorail quickly speeds up, and after a bit of northward traveling, the Questers near the Lost World area. A large electrified fence seems to surround it. It has a large sign with a crossed through Eggman logo. "NO EGGMAN BEYOND THIS POINT."
Deloth: *snorts.* "Like that's going to stop him."
Lance: "It would stop the stupider robots." :P
Metal Man (GM): The monorail eventually reaches the station. A set of GUN guards are there. They look at the Questers.
Julian: *waves.* "Yo."
Guard: "Hm. Weird. They get full clearance. Not even we get that! How? Why?"
Guard 2: "Sh!"
Digifanatic: .oO(That is how we roll.)
Metal Man (GM): They salute the Questers. There's a set of steps leading directly to... a giant mayan ruin area.
Julian: "We're here on official BUSINESS, that's why. Now get outta the way, I got shit to do." *Gets up, grabs his bag, and heads out.*
Lance: "Hello. Thank you for your concern about us. Have a wonderful day! *Smiles and follows Julian.*"
Metal Man (GM): A few archaeologists are here. One can see they've unearthed an ancient city, almost completely.
Deloth: "And... don't mind Julian." *walks on by.*
Metal Man (GM): Strange writing adorns several recently unearthed columns.
Dragoshi: .oO(Because we're that lucky.) "What they said." *Casually follows behind the others.*
Metal Man (GM): The first stop is the area in front of a three-way path. 'Zone 1' is the outside area; almost any old assistant can go there. 'Zone 2' is the inside-city area, restricted to senior assistants and archaeologists. 'Zone 3' is the center, a large mayan building. Only respected archaeologists can even walk near it. Then there's a note, taped on and neglected.
Deloth heads for the center. Buildings are fun!
Lance read ze note.
Metal Man (GM): 'Zone 4: Restricted from everybody but a few maniacs'
Julian: *Read that note!*
Metal Man (GM): It... is apparently right at the center of the pyramid.
Deloth continues straight on.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk straight on to the border of the imaginary 'zone 4'. An archaeologist with sunglasses stops to see them.
Julian: "So... where're the lost woods or whatever?"
???: "Who are you people and what are you doing here? Perhaps... you are the rumored people who would one day be allowed deep inside? I... ...have a request. Money is no object. I just want something."
Deloth: "And that would be..."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a camera.
Dragoshi: *To Julian.* "Lost World. but eh..." *To the archaeologist.* "...What is this 'something'?"
???: "I want pictures of it all. The writings. I've heard a lost stone which helps translate the runes out here is inside."
Lance: "... No way are we taking pictures of magical runes."
???: "That and more. The only problem is that the area is trapped, and setting off traps may just kill you... Not even for... a hundred rings?"
Deloth: "Keep talking..."
Julian: "I'm listenin'."
Lance: "Deloth, surely you remember the power of words? You were a mage."
???: "I'd give you credit. You'd be known as the only people brave enough besides... er... that madman... to have gone that far."
Deloth: "I still would be if I could just find a spellbook..."
???: "So. You want to do it, or not? I... don't want to be left hanging here."
Deloth: "I'm okay with it if they are."
Digifanatic: "If I was the only one here, I'd get back to you later after checking out some of the more sane areas... but I'm not alone. Wait a minute." *turns to the group.* *a bit quieter.* "The Widowmaker is practically a recluse hiding in here, right?"
???: "Only one of you needs to do it... there's only one camera after all..."
Dragoshi: *Also quietly, to Digi.* "Yep..."
Digifanatic: "And even though they say he's never come out of here... doesn't mean he's dead. He's just hiding! Well, could be."
Lance: "Why do you want the runes so badly?"
???: "To translate the pillars out here, so as to finally know the meaning of these ruins."
Digifanatic: *still to Dragoshi.* "And they say the person there is a madman, which seems to fit Widowmaker's persona quite correctly..."
???: "If I had wanted treasure I would have gone elsewhere. This is clearly a religious place of some kind... I would like to think they didn't build this massive place in vain. Just think, had we known before... an entire disaster would have been prevented."
Julian: "That's enough fo' me."
???: "Of course, I've resigned myself to the truth. If you won't do it, maybe I'm not meant to do it. I mean, I could get a permit in there, but... I just like living."
Lance: "Well, I am in the middle. I will not be the one taking the pictures, but I am not fully against it."
Metal Man (GM): He holds out his camera.
???: "So... any of you?"
Deloth: "Give me the camera. We'll see."
Dragoshi: "...I could give it a go, but..."
Digifanatic: *to the group again.* "Not the first time we've tempted fate, right?"
Dragoshi: *Looks at Julian, then back to the archaeologist.* "It seems that I don't need to."
Julian: "Let's get this over with."
Lance: "What is your name anyway?"
Cedric: "Just call me Cedric for now... not that it matters much. You probably are some crazy assistants who roam the world. My job is probably nothing to you."
Cedric: "Especially if Marley sends you. Man... you must be crazy types who leap over pits and run from giant boulders."
Deloth: "Whatever you want to believe."
Deloth heads into the ruins.
Lance enters the ruins~
Julian: "Sure, why not." *To the ruins!*
Digifanatic: *Let's-a go!*
Dragoshi: *Just follows on along.*
Metal Man (GM): ENTER: THE LOST WORLD. Walking in, the Questers see basic ruins made of green and white stones. There's a few torches... ...and one doorway, which goes down, into the water. Apparently it's partially submerged.
Deloth starts heading down, down, down.
Digifanatic: "Well, if that madman never made it out... yeah." *follows the 'Loth in.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers start heading into the water. It's rather cold and murky... the steps continue further on down into the water.
Deloth: "Boy, 'Lex would never be able to handle even this..."
Metal Man (GM): It goes completely underwater at one point...
Digifanatic: "Oh yeah, she had some weird fear of water, right?"
Deloth: "That's what she told me. Apparently it was one of the only things she couldn't control."
Deloth takes a few deep breaths to hyperventilate a bit, then dives and starts swimming.
Lance waits for the others to cross then swim-walks like the rest.
Julian: "Man, everythin's gonna get wet..." *Julian grabs his fedora, stuffs it in his bag, and starts swim-walkin'.*
Digifanatic also takes a good breath or two before holding one and heading through the water.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers make their way into a corridor, which is where the water ends... it leads to the right. The ceiling is very small and there's a room to the left, and another to the right; or one can just keep going down this small hallway...
Deloth: "Let's head left first." *does just that.*
Julian: *To the left.*
Metal Man (GM): The left is a very interesting room. Small, slanted, and with a closed treasure chest inside... and nothing else.
Digifanatic: "I'm not touching that either."
Deloth: "Anybody got something to throw?"
Julian: *Looks for rocks to throw at it.*
Digifanatic: "Perhaps I can splash some water at it."
Metal Man (GM): There are plenty of rocks.
Lance: "Let me."
Dragoshi: "Alright. Go for it."
Lance takes out his bow and fire 3 arrows, one in front of, on and on the wall behind the chest.
Metal Man (GM): Lance hits the part in front of it, then he sorta shoots wildly and hits far away from it. Nothing seems to happen.
Julian: "...Try that again."
Lance: "Yeah. My fingers must of been wet."
Dragoshi: "Let me try." *Grabs a couple rocks, and throws one at each place Lance failed to hit.*
Lance dries his fingers on the floor and tries again.
Dragoshi: *Doesn't bother with the other throw, then.* "...Nevermind."
Metal Man (GM): The one that hits the chest does the mark. Unfortunately for the Questers the chest actually explodes once opened... The room is now full of dust and the remains of a still-glowing former chest.
Lance: "..." *Coughs.*
Julian: "Well, 'least we were right 'bout it bein' a trap."
Deloth: "...Son of a bitch." *pulls some shards of wood out of his arms... and pockets one.*
Lance looks to see if there was anything left where it was.
Digifanatic: "Still glowing though, that's a bit intriguing."
Dragoshi: "...Welp." *Decides to pocket one of the glowing remains as well.* >_>
Metal Man (GM): Just glowing rocks.
Julian: "Movin' on." *Exeunt back into the hallway.*
Metal Man (GM): Apparently it was enchanted.
Digifanatic: *Not taking one of those.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers go back to the hallway. One may go to the right, or continue on.
Deloth grabs a rock, too. Hell, why not? He heads right next.
Digifanatic: "To the right, folks?"
Lance takes a rock also, whee~
Digifanatic: "Guess so." *to the right!*
Julian: *To the right.*
Metal Man (GM): Here, there are many statues, standing around an ancient-looking tomb. Nothing else, although there is writing all over the tomb and statues.
Deloth: "Well, camera's wrecked from the water, I'll bet."
Julian: "Nothin' here." *Back into the hallway.*
Digifanatic: "Copy that, Julian..." *and he keeps going in their original direction, right down the middle.*
Deloth: *Back, straight ahead. Whoo.*
Julian: *Julian take the camera out of his equipment bag to check if it's still working...*
Metal Man (GM): It's... perfectly fine. The man had been here many times. It looks pretty tough. Er. In the area. Not inside, though.
Julian: *Julian snaps a couple pictures before exiting the tomb, then.*
Metal Man (GM): Down the hallway is a single door to the left.
Julian: *Waits for someone else to open the door.*
Deloth crouches and pushes open the door...
Digifanatic: *helps Deloth if necessary.*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth opens it up. It's a simple room, just a bit long. One can walk to the other end. Ceiling's still low, though.
Julian: "Someone throw somethin' down the hallway."
Deloth: "Got another rock?"
Julian: *Julian reaches into a pouch on his equipment bag and produces... a rock! He then hands this off to Del.*
Deloth winds up and tosses that down the hall.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth just tosses it. *Click.* Panels open up in the floor. Giant fire pits are revealed!
Metal Man (GM): They stripe the way across... that rock is as good as barbecued.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers need to get across--somehow.
Lance looks for a way to disable the trap and restore the floor safe for walking!
Metal Man (GM): Lance finds writing... writing on the wall! And... the stones there look slightly different.
Deloth: "Man. I'd hate to have seen the cook try to deliver a cup of hot chocolate to the living room with traps like these."
Lance looks at the writing.
Metal Man (GM): It's more ancient, undecipherable writing.
Lance looks at the stones then. :P
Metal Man (GM): They're of an odd texture...
Lance pokes one. Why not.
Metal Man (GM): Lance presses one of them. He hears a click. Nothing happens. There are several of them. Hm.
Julian: "You think they're disarmin' it or just makin' it worse?"
Metal Man (GM): Everyone can't quite tell what the temple stones that Lance pushed did. Or at least, the one he pushed.
Lance randomly presses all of them.
Digifanatic: "Alright, Lance, your health..."
Metal Man (GM): Lance presses them all. *CLICK*... the fire pits vanish under platforms. It is safe to pass now.
Digifanatic: "You could have just used your arrows or tosses some stones... oh wow, nice one."
Metal Man (GM): Apparently, the ancients disarmed it by smacking that wall. It does look a bit worn.
Deloth continues onwards.
Digifanatic: *moving on now.*
Lance: "An engineering touch solves it all." *moves on.*
Julian: "Bingo." *Onwards!*
Dragoshi: *Moving on...*
Metal Man (GM): There is a small path, and now... a tube passageway... ...with lots of spinning blades. It leads up to the right, and down to the left.
Metal Man (GM): The spinning blades rest on a central shaft, and Lance's hand rests in the path of one of the blades. Ow! They're in the center of the passageway.
Lance: "#$%^ blades Pound Money Present Carrot them all to hell."
Digifanatic would ike to try to find something on the walls that could deactivate this sucker.
Lance: "Why don't you have a look Digi, before I get tempted to arrow the trap to death."
Julian: *Julian, being the resident athlete, tries to limbo his way to freedom.*
Digifanatic: *follows Julian wherever Julian wanted Julian to go.*
Dragoshi: *Follows behind as well.*
Julian: *Always go right.*
Digifanatic: *Okay then, he heads to the right!*
Deloth glances around for a trigger. No way in hell he's getting Cuisinarted.
Metal Man (GM): Next is a square room, with some columns with more writing just near the door... meanwhile, Deloth is semi-Cuisinarted for some damage. The room on the right is mostly empty besides a small treasure chest in addition to the floor and columns.
Julian: *Julian takes some pictures of the writing... steps back OUT of the room, produces another rock from his bag, and throws it at the treasure chest.*
Deloth looks again...
Metal Man (GM): *WHOOSH* The entire room goes flying down a bottomless pit. Apparently the writing meant to say 'DO NOT WALK IN THIS ROOM'
Julian: "...Next." *To the left room!*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth find nothing. However the blade fans are connected by a central, turning shaft...
Digifanatic: *heads to the left as well.*
Dragoshi: *Go west!*
Metal Man (GM): At the bottom of the tube, one can go left or right from there. The left route is just further down the tube.
Deloth grabs that shaft and tries to hold it in place.
Metal Man (GM): Deloth grabs the shaft, busting it. The blades no longer turn. Everyone goes left, sans Deloth, who stares at the destruction he has wrought. A big ol' shiny rock sits in this room. It has got writing in several languages. And torches around it.
Deloth starts running to catch up with the group. "Can't BELIEVE it was that easy..."
Metal Man (GM): And yet another door further along the way.
Julian: *Snaps pics.* "Ain't touchin' it."
Digifanatic steps awaaaaaaaaaay from the rock and just goes for the door.
Dragoshi: "Not it."
Digifanatic: "Not it if my movement didn't say it."
Lance follows the others, avoiding the rock. "Bad rock is bad."
Deloth heads over to that other door.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers carefully avoid the rock, and walk into the door... finding a massive room. A giant mural is in it. It shows a giant water demon flooding the world. There is also a man. He has finished painstakingly writing down yards of glyphs...
Digifanatic: *notes the painting, muttering.* "Prophecy much?"
Metal Man (GM): He turns when he sees you, rage in his eyes. He is a strange man with brown coat and glasses.
Julian: *Snaps pictures... Hey, it's our dude.* "Yo!"
Deloth quickly takes out his sword and gets ready to fight.
???: "Hey, what are you people? I thought the spinning blade room of death would keep you away! Or at least, you'd die horribly on the bomb chest."
Dragoshi: "We're made of sterner stuff." *chuckles.*
Julian: "Yeah, we're kinda good at not dyin' at that."
???: "Oh, it was quite a scene that one ti... wait... one of you has a part of it still stuck into you... you're something else. Hm."
Julian: "Anyway..." *whispers to Digi.* "What's our dude's name again?"
???: "Whatcha want here? I'mma kill you all if you don't gimme a reason not. I haven't eaten in a long time. And my ancient enchanted death-stick requires blood to work."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a staff coated in weird writings, which glows a lot.
Digifanatic: *w* "Something the Widowmaker, believe it's Jack."
Lance: "We are here on request of Marley to offer you a chance to get farther away from humans."
Julian: "We're lookin' for some dude named the Widowmaker. Or Jack. Whatever. You him?"
???: "Marley? Hah! Prove it! The last fifty men I killed all... ...That dang Marley got me again! DANG IT!"
Jack: "Fine, fine. I'll come if it gets me far away from the idiots I kill here... Ah, you see. I hid in another place before, and he found me. With people like you, too."
Jack: "It's a sort of game these days. He's gone through a number of people trying this time. They tasted good." He picks up a skull and crushes it.
Julian: "So we ain't the first. Whatev-...yeah, I'm just gonna ignore that. You're comin' wit' us, right?"
Digifanatic: .oO(Yeah, that 'Widowmaker' part doesn't lie.)
Dragoshi: "Why do I have a feeling..."
Lance: "Anyway, shall we head back?"
Jack: "Ehhhhh..." He leans on his staff. "But the part of me that is an archaeologist has one little issue. See." He illuminates the murals. "There's this first one. It done warned us of that whole Eggman incident, which happened for real, ya see!"
Dragoshi: "Said 'little issue' being...?" *Looks at the murals.*
Julian: *Takes pictures of the murals.*
Dragoshi: "I see."
Metal Man (GM): He then points to one on the right, which he just unearthed.
Jack: "This one predicts more stuff, nuffin the likes any of us have seen!"
Julian: *And it is...*
Jack: "And even worse, I've even been attacked by disgusting, salty-tasting echidnas!"
Metal Man (GM): The one on the right shows a sphere and a bunch of glowing things, and the vague outline of a regular looking human being.
Jack: "They keep telling me that prophecy on the right belongs to them. But it doesn't. It even says they should never see it!"
Jack: "So, ya see... I needs to make them stop coming."
Dragoshi: "I see."
Metal Man (GM): And, just as he says that, some... weird, white echidnas walk right in.
Digifanatic: "Well, here we go."
Metal Man (GM): The one at the head of them crosses his arms.
Dragoshi: "...That is just ridiculous."
Cultist: "Hm. I knew you'd leave your post some day."
Dragoshi: *In response to the Echidnas' timing.* .oO(Seriously, what the hell.)
Julian: "...Man what. Where'd you guys come from?"
Lance: *w* "Julian, got a picture of the new one?"
Cultist: "But we already told you, Jack. If you move in an area without the holy sanctuary protective symbol in it... we can kill you."
Metal Man (GM): The cultist turns to Julian.
Julian: *w* "Yeah."
Cultist: "We first saw you in Westopolis. Then we observed you talking to Marley. The blasphemer. Sure enough, you led us to here."
Digifanatic: .oO(Oh man, Westopolis again.)
Cultist: "Not that you're important..."
Julian: "Great, we bein' tracked an' we didn' even know it."
Deloth: *Sword out, combat position, ready to kick ass.*
Cultist: "A robot was also following you. You're very obvious."
Jack: "Glad to see yeh... because I just realized, with the help of these people here, you can't even harm me OR read this mural."
Cultist: "How's that... more lies?"
Deloth: "You could save yourself a lot of grief by just turning and leaving. Right now."
Jack: "Well, ya see..." Jack speaks some strange language.
Cultist: "...So he is right. The ancient ones do not allow us to read it now." He turns to the Questers. "However, you can read them, with that camera we have seen you use."
Deloth: "Like hell we're doing anything for you."
Cultist: *Points to the Questers.* "Give us a copy of the pictures or you will be destroyed."
Lance: "Oi, Vey. These guys must have the diplomatic powers of a shrew."
Dragoshi: *Thinks, a small smirk on his face...*
Dragoshi: *Chuckles, before sliding out his machinegun, and aiming it at the Echidna.* "Hahahahaaaaa... Yeeeeaaaa, I don't think so."
Julian: *Julian sets his bag down, and reaches into the main cavity to pull out his shiny aluminum baseball bat.* "I SAID-" *points it at Head Cultist.* "No."
Jack: "All right, enough fighting. This can be settled in a rational wa---SURPRISEANCIENTDEATHRAY."
Metal Man (GM): The head Echidna is brutally destroyed by a turquoise laser.
Julian: "...Righ' then." *Julian puts the bat back and picks his bag back up.*
Dragoshi: "I was gonna open fire, but, uhhh... Thanks."
Lance: "Well, that solves one problem... also ..."
Deloth: "...Teach me this long-lost art."
Jack: "There's more o' them, buds." He points to two remaining, although stunned, underlings. "You trash them and I might tell you a thing or two."
Dragoshi: *Shrugs.* "'Aight."
Cultist 2: "He destroyed the leader with our holy staff of destruction!"
Julian: "If you say so." *The bat is back out again.*
Cultist 3: "Is this a sign from the Gods or just an idiot?"
Digifanatic: "I think we can help you with that, Jack."
Dragoshi: "Shut up." *Shoots up Cultist 2. A lot. Or at least tries.*
Cultist 2: "I don't know, let's kill those guys and find out."
Deloth: "Mmm... fright and pain. Tasty."
Metal Man (GM): They take out their own weapons, mostly shiny looking swords, and then go to chop into Julian--because he threatened them first, and they're scared to death of Jack now.
Julian: *Dragoshi's the one with the machine gun* ;_; *WHAT.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian trips on a rock, and then gets stabbed by magic laser swords, and then he trips on another rock, and then a rock falls from the ceiling and hits him. SSQ^2 apparently hates Julian (see earlier chapter where Digi smashed him with a chaos drive for details.)
Julian: *Fan-fucking-tastic, down to half-health already.*
Deloth: "Hey, guys, if one of those swords is left, mind if I grab one and trade up?"
Dragoshi: *And, Dragoshi gets around to doing what he was trying to do earlier-- Try and shoot up Cultist two a lot.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit. Hit hit hit. Dragoshi shoots 'em up.
Dragoshi: "If you're still alive, just cough up some blood."
Lance: "BSOD for you and Underclock for you~"
Dragoshi: "Yanno. Just so I can make sure I don't make that mistake again."
Lance: "Argh, never getting bow wet again."
Metal Man (GM): Miss and failure.
Deloth gets a strange look on his face, drops to one knee... and a tentacle rips out of his back and shoots right at Cultist One. It's Devour!*
Metal Man (GM): Miss!
Deloth: *Miss... and apparently, having a tentacle rip out of formerly closed skin isn't good for the user's health.*
Dragoshi: "... Welp."
Deloth: "Argh... what WAS that?!"
Dragoshi: "Anything else you'd like to shoot out of your back? bees? Spiders? Giant flying babies that vomit lightning?"
Julian: *Julian, after recovering from his misfortune and watching Deloth SPROUT A TENTACLE OUT OF HIS FUCKING BACK, is not a happy man. He grabs his bat, crouches down... then apparently TELEPORTS over to Echidna 2, trying to land a roundhouse kick at the end of the 'port. After the warp, Julian attempts to lay down the BONK on Echidna 2 with two swings of his bat!*
Metal Man (GM): All hit. The echidna also bangs his head into a wall after the first kick.
Digifanatic just goes for the straightforward Fire Punch to the gut on Cultist 1 before taking a leap and slamming his head around with a big ol knee (Generic Air).
Metal Man (GM): Hit. The Cultists next take their swords to Dragoshi and his machinegun... he takes damage from the second one, as the first one hits air.
Dragoshi: *hisses in annoyance-- annoyance and pain as the blade strikes.* "And, now... To return the favor." *Dragoshi starts off by trying to shoot up the second cultist twice, then suddenly switch to his scythe and attack both of them with it.*
Metal Man (GM): Miss ultra hit hit. Second cultist bites it. It misses cultist 1. One Cultist left... #1.
Lance: "Pincushion Time~"
Metal Man (GM): Miss hit hit. Also Lance takes damage from his glitch somehow. :p And that ends it there, with both cultists dead. Battle ovah, wah!
Jack: "So... you're not a bunch of wimps... good. I was afraid you were, with how you reacted to my death laser."
Deloth picks himself back up, slowly... he looks for any swords left by the cultists.
Jack: "And you provided me two corpses." He zaps the corpses, which vanish, although the swords are still there.
Deloth: "Damn, my back hurts..."
Dragoshi: *Casually takes both swords, and hands one to Del.*
Julian: "Fuckin' rocks..." *Julian rubs the back of his head where the rock fell.*
Deloth takes one from Dragoshi. "Thanks."
Dragoshi: "No prob." *Keeps the other sword for 'imself.*
Lance: "Anyway, what to do with the new tablet? Take it with us..?"
Dragoshi: .oO(And, slowly, my collection grows.)
Julian: "Hey, Jack, any idea what that rock back there is?"
Deloth: "And any idea why a TENTACLE just tried to grab one of those cultists?!"
Jack: "What? No. I told them what they needed to know by killing them with ancient lasers." He abruptly hits a button, revealing a back way out. "Let's go sailing, I hate these people and this place."
Julian: "Man, I dunno. You're the freak, why IS a tentacle comin' outta your back?"
Digifanatic: "It's probably just some odd part of your transformation process you're not aware of."
Deloth: "Oh, yeah, what next? I start eating people in my sleep?"
Jack: "No. I do all the people eating in my sleep around here!"
Dragoshi: "Or maybe you're having a symbiotic relationship with some sort of horrible, horrible creature that pays it's rent by killing your enemies."
Deloth: "Gee, thanks. I feel so much better." *starts heading back out via the new passageway...*
Lance: "Ah, don't worry Del. Nothing with angel wings could do anything that bad."
Jack: *He remembers something.* "The rock? That's a translatin' stone thing. Let me guess. The pansy wanted you to take pictures?"
Julian: "'Swhat he said."
Jack: "Guess you better give him his fancy pink camera back."
Dragoshi: "Pretty much, yea."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers outside the temple now.
Julian: *Julian took pictures of it.* >_> *With that, he goes to find Cedric and collect his pay.* "I got pictures, bitch! You got my money?"
Digifanatic: *heading back with the others.*
Cedric: "Yes." *He hands Julian the money.* "Now for the pictures."
Julian: *Before taking the money.* "Hol' it." *Julian starts pulling the camera out of his back.* "'Fore I hand these over, I wanna see your credientials. I don't want some kinda whackjob gettin' his hands on these."
Cedric: "..." *He takes out his accreditation to the Central City University.*
Julian: "Good enough fo' me." *Camera, meet Cedric. 100 coins, meet Julian's pocket.* "You gotta be careful about this shit, man."
Cedric: "I shall." *He looks through.* "Hm... you did a better job than expected."
Metal Man (GM): And with that, the Questers, Jack, and the tentacle that randomly pops out of Deloth's back were on their way. What crazy adventures would they see next? Who knows? Mission Ovah, wah!
