Date: March 9th, 2009.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers went to clear out a nasty pipe blockage. However, not even Mario knew where it went, and they wound up in what appeared to be an ancient, perhaps Wily-related factory. They took a rest there, recovering their health and reviving. While this went on, Panzer had gone off on her own either to become Maverick or kill Vile. What happened next remains a mystery. We return with the Questers in a darkened factory with an unstable floor, fully healed.
Deloth: *rubbing his forehead.* "That STILL stings where that golem hit me."
Garrick: "Heh... he was a big one... alright... everyone rested and ready to roll?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, I'm good..."
Dragoshi: *Nods.*
Andrew: "I don't think it will go away till we are out of range of so many metal parts." *nods to Garrick.*
Garrick: "Right..." *he looks to Mario, who he's guessing is still there.* "And you? You coming with us?"
Mario: "Me?" He shakes his head. "I-a don't like this-a factory... or this-a air."
Garrick: "Alright, well, do me a favor, could you?"
Mario: "My-a knowledge doesn't-a seem to work here... Yes?"
Garrick: "Head back to the Mushroom Kingdom and get some workers to solidify the path between the pipe and here. Make sure everything is taken care of. Clear it out and make a safe, single path, alright?"
Mario: "...It is-a instantaneous path now. The-a obstacle course was launched-a out and destroyed!"
Digifanatic: "Odd."
Deloth: "Well. Takes care of that, then."
Mario: "I-a believe it was-a made when this realm appeared and-a intersected with mine."
Garrick: "...ah. Well. You're free to come with us or head back, then."
Mario: "I will-a go back... the Princess-a always needs protection. See you later!" He leaps into the pipe.
Garrick nods, then turns to the path before them, drawing his pistol and slapping in a new clip.
Metal Man (GM): Hm. Quite a contrast from the Mario some of the Questers once knew. It's dim in here. Someone may want to find a light source.
Deloth: "Alright. So. Hopefully this won't be a total washout on my part like that last run was."
Garrick: "Right... watch your feet and above you."
Digifanatic: "Interesting... Mario's just trying to hang out at the castle... maybe he married her or something. Ahem. Phase two."
Deloth: "...Anybody got a flashlight, by the way?"
Garrick pats his pockets before pulling out a lighter, flicking it open.
Metal Man (GM): It makes a dim, wavering light.
Garrick: "Better than nothing... keep your eyes open for a light switch or something..."
Metal Man (GM): Here are the remains of an epic factory. It has apparently partially sunken underground--the light source is coming from a hole in the ceiling. It looks vastly ancient.
Aribar: "I could attempt to cast a light spell, but I've always been better at 'light from destructive magic' than 'just light...'"
Andrew: "Just to try see if it uses voice commands: "Computer: Lights on?"
Metal Man (GM): Nothing happens.
Deloth: "..."
Dragoshi: "...You know, if we're trying to see if anything even works in here..." *Claps. Maybe the lights run on clapper technology.* :V
Deloth claps twice.
Andrew: "Hmm, older than I thought."
Metal Man (GM): Nope, nothing happens. There's a narrow passageway visible from the lighter alone.
Garrick: *sighs.* "C'mon, let's just search for a switch." *heads down the passageway, nice and slow.*
Deloth starts slipping down the passageway.
Andrew follows slowly behind.
Deloth: "So. Anybody have any theories as to why I can suddenly read minds?"
Garrick: "My guess...? Robotnik leaving your head."
Andrew: *Thinking.* "Because you seem to be gaining powers over time, therefore it must be part of your genetics?"
Digifanatic: "I bet it's your form. You never said anything about not sleeping while you were a dragon."
Aribar: "I think this world completely and utterly disagrees with you, Deloth."
Deloth: "Good point. I STILL wish I knew exactly what I was, though..."
Garrick: "Genetics test could take care of that, maybe."
Deloth: "And I disagree with it. It's all one big happy cosmic argument."
Garrick: "I'm not the greatest on DNA, though. Oak might be better for that."
Digifanatic: "Let's see... I'm trying to remember if I've asked Oak about it..."
Deloth chuckles. "I think you mean 'OAAAAAAAAAAAK.'"
Andrew: *Thinking.* .oO(Boring Computer Textbook)
Digifanatic: "I think it was just Robotnik I've asked."
Garrick snorts softly. "Yeah..."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, cause it was after the second trip to Kanto where Deloth and I essentially ruled out him being a Pokemon species."
Deloth: "Andrew, you're making me dizzy with things I know nothing about. Could you cut it out, please?"
Andrew: "Erm, Well, at least I know how to distract you from reading my mind. Heh."
Garrick hums under his breath as he continues on, looking around the path, keeping his eyes on the ground, making sure the ground isn't going to collapse on them.
Andrew: "You know, we really should make a cane for situations like these."
Deloth: "I could use my sword. That thing never seems to get dull."
Digifanatic: "Heh." *put a hand against the wall, examining for anything slowly so he doesn't stub his fingers into anything.*
Dragoshi: *Pulls out his laser sword, wondering if it'd make a viable light source.* :x
Andrew: "Too sharp, and too much of a conductor..."
Deloth: "...Oh, hey, yeah, I had forgotten about that thing glowing."
Deloth takes his out as well. Glowy sword technorave!
Digifanatic: *Feels for a light switch.*
Aribar: *Continued walking!*
Deloth: "I just really can't think of much that has wings, fur, AND feathers. Besides maybe a flying monkey."
Metal Man (GM): Feeling through, brandishing swords. The Questers simply find their way into a crooked sideways staircase which goes up.
Andrew feels his way up the stairs.
Deloth: "...Dang. Don't these people have building codes?" *He starts carefully walking up the stairs.*
Garrick heads on up the stairs as well.
Aribar follows the others.
Metal Man (GM): Actually... these people do have building codes. Deloth would notice up at the ceiling this bizarre stairway has sunken part-way into the earth since its construction. Going up, there's some more light, since the Questers are in the rafters, at the second floor... which is actually more like floor .5, since it's barely out of the ground and the top half of the windows let in some light. The creaky catwalks here are held with corroding chains. The catwalk to the left has come loose and swung into another wall, stuck.
Digifanatic: "I am not sure how sturdy those are..."
Deloth walks over to a catwalk and stamps a foot on it, experimentally.
Garrick: "We'll have to be careful..."
Metal Man (GM): It shakes... but holds.
Kenku keeps close to the group, not wanting to go through what happened before.
Aribar looks at the chains and half-way wonders if they could be used to swing across.
Metal Man (GM): There are some loose chains where the other side was, and there's a window that leads outside... looks like a person could swing outside with one of those. Or the Questers can slowly walk across the shaky, ancient catwalk and find out what's on the other side.
Deloth looks out of one of the windows and checks what's out there.
Metal Man (GM): Some... plants.
Digifanatic takes a look at how far the walk across is.
Garrick: "...well, we made to clear out the pipes in order to solidify transportation between the continents... we should find out what this place is about more than get out of here." *He starts heading, slowly, across the catwalk.*
Metal Man (GM): It's relatively short.
Deloth: "Right. One at a time..."
Aribar stands back and decides to let the others head across. He won't risk life and most limbs on some rusty, old catwalk.
Deloth shuts his eyes. He tries to detect thoughts of people other than the people right beside him.
Digifanatic: "That should do it. Fortunately, it's not a long walk."
Metal Man (GM): Nope, no other thoughts. Walking across the catwalk... it begins to shudder.
Deloth: "...I don't think there's anything alive in here, at least..."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick gets across and finds an ancient control panel. It's for... a crane.
Deloth opens one eye at the shuddering sounds. Not good.
Garrick: "...hm.?" *He looks over the control panel, testing to see if it works.*
Metal Man (GM): Garrick pushes and pulls, and looks for life. It is deaaaad. It has a logo in the corner. A corroded W.
Digifanatic: "Anything interesting?"
Metal Man (GM): Serial number is unreadable... 'Made in 200X'
Garrick: "...Wily." *He looks around for other ways to move.*
Digifanatic: "Okay, I say Ari goes last because he has his spell... So if necessary, he can catch up to us without worrying about the gap." *He decides to go second and slowly cross that gap.*
Aribar: "That is an excellent idea, Digi! I fully support it."
Kenku keeps an eye on how bad the catwalk is and prepares to go next.
Garrick looks around the area where the panel is to find any other paths to take that lead around or into the factory.
Deloth: "...I wonder if I can climb out that window and head around outside." *Checks how far away that window is.*
Metal Man (GM): Well, with Garrick on the other side, it's a bit less weighted down. Garrick needs a light to see down. Deloth sees that the window is about 15 feet away.
Deloth: "Hmm... I'm not sure if I can make that jump..."
Garrick sighs, then pulls out his tools... he tries his best to see if he can get the panel working again.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick realizes it needs a power source. Deloth figures that he can't get across without swinging. The chain is only about 5 feet away.
Andrew is waiting for Digi to finish crossing.
Garrick grunts, then uses his lighter to look around a bit better.
Deloth: *Looks down to see how deadly the drop is.*
Metal Man (GM): Digi finishes crossing. Deloth's only one floor up, and made of Questertainium (TM). It shouldn't be too bad a drop.
Kenku sees Digi finish and gingerly crosses the catwalk.
Deloth backs up a few steps, pops his tentacles out, and makes a running jump for the chain, trying to grab it.
Andrew starts crossing see that that Digi is done.
Deloth: "Oh, shit, oh shit, OH SHIT--"
Metal Man (GM): Deloth doesn't even jump high enough to clear the catwalk. He just bumps against the railing. That was too big a failure to even get over the pit.
Deloth: *KONK.*
Metal Man (GM): Sometimes, ultra failure is useful.
Kenku sees Andrew crossing behind him, and decides to move faster.
Metal Man (GM): Garrick discovers nothing.
Deloth leans against the railing, watching the pretty stars and birdies.
Aribar: "Deloth, I think you tripped over a pebble."
Metal Man (GM): The chains pop some more.
Garrick growls, then looks a bit harder...
Metal Man (GM): Garrick discovers he is out of his depth for looking here.
Kenku yells "Shit!" and runs for it.
Deloth: *dizzily.* "Okay... let's try this again..."
Metal Man (GM): Even if he wasn't, however... There is little to find up here.
Deloth backs up and makes another jump for the chain.
Metal Man (GM): Although the ceiling looks a bit fragile.
Garrick: "I don't think there's anything over here. It's too dark to find anything."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth fails to even clear the catwalk, again.
Deloth: *WHAM.*
Metal Man (GM): In fact, he doesn't even jump. He trips and sits down.
Digifanatic: "Garrick, mind if I help?"
Deloth: "..."
Metal Man (GM): The ceiling looks to be accessible from the other side of the catwalk.
Deloth: "...Oh, wait. Stupid me." *He takes off those gloves Panzer gave him and drops them.* "Third time and a hundred pounds less, that's the ticket!"
Metal Man (GM): The catwalk shifts heavily from the dropped weight. Then Deloth does a tiny hop which goes nowhere. Maybe someone should throw him across. Kenku makes it across.
Dragoshi: "...yeah, I'd suggest putting the gloves somewhere where they won't destroy the catwalk."
Metal Man (GM): The chains begin to fail. One chain falls down, near Deloth.
Deloth: "...well."
Metal Man (GM): His disco-failing is beginning to break the catwalk. Garrick's... at the end of the catwalk, staring at the switch. The ceiling is within a foot of his head.
Deloth grabs the gloves, slips them back on, and gets the feck off of the catwalk.
Kenku screeches to a halt and catches his breath.
Metal Man (GM): Still confused? There's a bunch of people near Garrick now, too. Oh. They're walking to Garrick. Deloth is standing near the center of the catwalk, hopping... now he's on the end with Garrick, too. The platform groans.
Garrick: "...why are you JUMPING, Del?"
Deloth: *Moves off the catwalk, WITH the gloves.*
Kenku blinks and looks for another place to move to.
Deloth: "I WAS trying to reach that window."
Aribar: "Deloth, I could probably just move you with a spell."
Deloth: "I wanted to at least give it a shot for myself."
Garrick: "Here, let me give it a go..."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth is now at the end of the catwalk with Garrick. The roof is close to where he is, only about a foot above everyone's heads.
Garrick: "Well, wait."
Deloth: "...But if you can help, go right ahead, since I seem to have lost any chance of being able to jump to it."
Garrick: "Hold on, hold on... Del, give me a boost."
Deloth: "...Sure."
Kenku: "I'm gonna climb over to the roof if that's ok, the crane doesn't seem to like all this weight."
Deloth holds out his hands and motions for Garrick to step up.
Andrew just makes sure he is across.
Garrick motions upwards, then makes to get himself, with Del's help, up to the roof that's so close to their heads.
Metal Man (GM): *Shove.* the panel flies right off. Everyone can climb right out of the building.
Digifanatic: *Does so, I guess.*
Garrick: "There we go. Everyone out."
Metal Man (GM): There is no further way up or down from here. It was a crane, and down below a factory... all too far gone to be much of any value.
Garrick pulls himself up and out of the building.
Deloth whips his tentacles up there and pulls himself up and out.
Kenku does what he needs to get out of the building.
Dragoshi: *Climbs on up and gets outta this joint. I guess.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers get out, seeing it was a part of some... castle. They're on the top of what was once a high battlement... But which is now merely a part of a forest floor.
Garrick: "Jeez..."
Andrew: "Blue and Cyan~."
Dragoshi: "Sheesh..."
Kenku: "Weird..."
Digifanatic: "Okaaaay."
Deloth: "Okay, WHERE are we?"
Digifanatic: "And where do we go from here?!"
Garrick: "Probably near Maverick country..." *He glances around... looking for other nearby windows or doors. Or a decent fall to the ground.*
Metal Man (GM): Nope. Everyone has basically emerged from an underground cavern into a forest... a weird, half-mechanized forest. There's a newer building, also ruined, up ahead. Otherwise it may well go on forever in all directions.
Digifanatic: "Well, that's a likely phase three."
Kenku sighs "Man this place is a mess... not the greatest of places for a tele pipe..."
Garrick: "Let's check out that newer building... best and only place I can think of."
Deloth just sighs and heads for the newer building.
Digifanatic: "Yeah."
Garrick leaps over the battlements and heads toward the other building.
Kenku follows Garrick, keeping on eye on the sides of the path.
Digifanatic: *follows.*
Dragoshi: *Casually follows on along. Woo.*
Deloth: "...Apparently, I've been cursed with terrible jumping somewhere along the line."
Andrew: "You just have to eat more mushrooms~." *follows along.*
Metal Man (GM): The newer building is also ruined, but almost on purpose. Sigma symbols are everywhere.
Deloth: "Har har."
Metal Man (GM): The door has been blasted in, the roof blown out; anyone can just walk in.
Deloth walks in, looking around.
Aribar: *(Belated) Rejoin and following of the party!*
Garrick heads on it as well, glancing around, his pistol drawn juuuust in case.
Aribar: "Does anyone happen to recognize those symbols? They look somewhat familiar, but I can't discern their origin."
Digifanatic: *takes a look.*
Metal Man (GM): They seem vaguely familiar but meaningless.
Digifanatic: "Might have seen these before..."
Metal Man (GM): The entrance here is one of a grand palace; this walk-in hallway is extremely long... and filled with pedestals where statues once were.
Kenku follows the others in saying "They look a little familiar to me, but I can't place my figure on it."
Garrick: "Keep you eyes open..."
Andrew: "It must be a hero/villain with ego problems."
Digifanatic: *takes that advice and keeps walking.*
Deloth: "Yeesh. I wonder how much this must have cost."
Dragoshi: "A lot?" *Shrugs.*
Metal Man (GM): A part of the ceiling moves. A camera? *Click.* *Flash.*
Digifanatic: "Uh... right."
Kenku stammers for a moment "What the?"
Deloth: "...Uh-oh."
Metal Man (GM): Hm. The Questers were just on camera.
Deloth glances around for a place to hide.
Garrick: "It's too late to move around... whoever is here knows we're here... let's keep moving."
Digifanatic: .oO(And Deloth, I hope NOBODY makes a snarky remark about not waving or smiling to the camera.)
Aribar: "Aye." *The half-elf continues onward.*
Kenku: "I guess this place is not as inactive as we thought... I hope that wasn't Vile although."
Kenku moves ahead.
Deloth: "Well, maybe I--" *sighs as he watches everyone else keep going.*
Digifanatic: *keeps going.*
Deloth just keeps walking, then.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk ahead... the door slams shut. The pedestals rise from the floor.
Andrew follows along... "I need to get a camera function installed on this thing..."
Metal Man (GM): They have a laser gun system... There are eight of them. They turn on and begin firing lasers everywhere! The Questers have a split second to do... something.
Digifanatic: *ducks.*
Andrew grabs Ari and Hidden Files away.
Garrick ducks and rolls as well, trying to find cover.
Dragoshi: *Duck and cover!*
Aribar: "Andrew, have I ever mentioned that I love this technique?"
Deloth: *dives for cover.*
Andrew: "No, but now that you mention it, I really love it too."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers defend immediately... the guns' fire threatens everyone! Aribar and Andrew are safe. Digi dodges. Some others are hit. The pedestals are vulnerable to attack. Better attack quick--they're gonna fire again soon.
Dragoshi: *Gets hit, but quickly shrugs it off and attempts to beat the crap out of the pedestals with his Bread.*
Kenku attempts to smash a laser turret and then dive behind another one, hoping they shoot each other.
Deloth takes a shot to the shoulder anyways, growls, and stabs at the nearest turret.
Andrew: *assuming he is back from Pocket World~.* "Tarot Card Away~."
Aribar reappears and fires a powerful gust of wind at one of the turrets. Wind Blast.
Digifanatic decides to smash one up by ramming a gun with a golf club.
Garrick unloads a rapid fire amount of shots at the one Ari blasted.
Metal Man (GM): Let's see... They're a stationary target, so, all of those hit. Between all of those, the Questers basically blow up all the turrets with massed fire.
Digifanatic: "Such an expensive house... such cheap weapons."
Kenku gets up from behind the now destroyed turret "Phew." and starts to walk further in.
Deloth: "Hrm... hey, guys, gimme just a minute."
Garrick: "That's just the first one... stay on guard."
Digifanatic: "Okay. Should we stay for you? Or will you catch up?"
Deloth: "This should just take a minute or two."
Metal Man (GM): The door ahead opens up. The one back out remains closed.
Deloth ducks behind one of the turret wrecks and starts shifting his appearance, all the way back to his long-ago human form.
Aribar: "I could attempt a spell to have us travel in another plane; we would probably be undetectable... But we would be entering the unknown, not know what we're passing up, and possibly face other dangers."
Kenku walks slowly ahead, sword at the ready.
Andrew: "... Well, at least I am not the bait."
Deloth: *stepping back out as his old, human self.* "...okay. Hopefully I'll at least confuse whatever or whoever took that picture."
Kenku: "Shut up."
Metal Man (GM): The next room is a destroyed wreck.
Digifanatic: *moving on--looks at Deloth.* "Huh... interesting idea."
Metal Man (GM): The image of a bald reploid, Sigma, is on the walls. Tattered and destroyed.
Andrew: "To really confuse them, you could swap gender."
Metal Man (GM): Characteristic blade slashes and laser-burns show the place was ripped apart.
Kenku looks over. "Man he's seen better days..."
Garrick: "...we must have gotten the tail end of some of Sigma's traps..."
Deloth: "...I'm not catering to your fantasy, you sick puppy." *About the same. Of course, thanks to various lifespan screweries, he should be about the same age anyways, but that's a bit too much to recap right here.*
Aribar continues onward with the others, but he has a puzzled look on his face. "Why does this place exhibit damage, while those defenses were up and running?"
Deloth: "Because nothing is ever easy."
Andrew: "Nah, not into gender swapping. Now, labcoats and girl-genius(s) with a mad cackle I can dig~."
Kenku: "They're probably regenerative."
Metal Man (GM): A vague hologram appears in this room, and the entire room appears to shake and wobble.
Deloth: "See?"
???: "So you have arrived..."
Kenku spins around to look at the hologram.
Aribar: .oO(And now someone was waiting for us?)
???: "What are you, pathetic humans? To think you can march into holy Maverick ground? You will die if you proceed even a foot further."
Andrew: "..."
Kenku: "Uhhh... Garrick?"
Dragoshi: *Just twirls the Bread around in one hand, and readies the blaster in the other.* .oO(Nothing new I've heard before.)
Andrew: "So, are you like those holograms from card games that can do damage?"
Deloth: *both swords out.* "Mind saying who you are?"
???: "No."
Digifanatic: *Looks for a form to the hologram. Tries to discern any colors, shapes, clothes he can.*
???: "I ask the questions. It would be against my creed to let you survive, but..." He wavers. He has little form other than darkness. A shadow of a person. "If you grant me some information, I will allow you to leave alive... for a while."
Deloth: "But we don't want to leave."
???: "Then walk forward, to your death, puny human."
Deloth: "So your entire plan and logic is flawed, to say the least."
Aribar: .oO(Holy Maverick ground? I know I recall Mavericks being the enemy of Zero, X, and Panzer. Who is this person?)
???: "I'm not stopping you."
Garrick frowns slowly...
Deloth snorts and heads forwards.
Metal Man (GM): A giant slab of rock falls at Deloth from above! *SMASH.* Damage, and he is pinned under it.
???: "Pathetic."
Aribar: "You mean business." *The half-elf would attempt to lift the rock off of Del with Kinesis.*
Metal Man (GM): Barely, it has almost smashed him completely.
Garrick sighs as he looks at Del, then looks to the hologram.
Metal Man (GM): It is lifted off... but it sits resolutely in the way after Del is knocked free, back to the group.
Garrick: "Look, slick. We're only trying to get out of this forest without any problems. Stop the crap."
Deloth: *groaning.* "See, you can't just use a puny little slab like that, you have to make it count."
???: "No."
Metal Man (GM): A giant rock flies from the ceiling at Garrick. And smashes him.
Dragoshi: .oO(How many giant rocks does he have?)
???: "Anyone else want to be smashed?"
Andrew gets hidden file ready... "I DO!"
Aribar lifts this rock as well. "Then perhaps we can take you up on the offer to trade information?"
Andrew: "Pick me~."
Dragoshi: .oO(Is he keeping a friggin' storeroom full of them up there?)
Garrick: "Andrew... *grunt* ...shut up!"
Metal Man (GM): A rock flies at Andrew.
Kenku: "Wait! what sort of information are you asking for?"
Deloth: "..."
Metal Man (GM): Andrew is smashed by a giant rock.
Deloth discreetly turns to the side and spits out a piece of bloody tooth.
Garrick: *sigh.* "What info do you want..."
Aribar lifts this rock off of the crushed Quester as well!
???: "Do it again and rocks will fall, killing all of you. You... what do you know of Wily?"
Garrick: "Wily is dead."
Andrew: .oO(So rocks fall, everybody dies?)
Garrick: "Long dead."
???: "You... are time travelers... you have encountered him... or at least, Dr. Light..."
Garrick: "Yeah, we have. And Dr. Light. But in this time, this place, he is dead."
Deloth: "He's a nutter. What more is there to say? A dead, decomposing nutter."
???: "What did he think of you?"
Dragoshi: *Too busy wondering how the hell those (in)conveniently-placed rocks keep appearing.*
Garrick: "...as far as I know, he thought of us as rivals. We didn't encounter him much. We fought him from time to time."
???: "Rivals..." He laughs. "What do you know of Dr. Light and Mega Man X?"
Garrick: "They assisted us. I worked with Dr. Light myself in technological trials. As for X... we didn't see much of him."
Aribar would start thinking about the logistics needed to use a Plane spell to save everyone from rock-filled death.
Metal Man (GM): It'd stretch Aribar's abilities, and he doesn't know what plane you are in. As the hologram effect seems to have partially effected reality... Those rocks could have been real or generated.
???: "Have you any Reploids in your forces?"
Garrick eyes the hologram...
Deloth: "Reploids?"
Garrick: "...we did work with one for a moment, but she was not considered to be a member of our force."
Aribar tries to subtly cast Sensory. He wonders if he can find out any information to gain an edge on this holographic rock-thrower... Such as, if the rocks are even real.
Digifanatic: "Yeah, she's more of an apathetic freelance."
Metal Man (GM): They... are real!
Deloth: "So where are you even getting these 'screw you' rocks, anyways?"
???: "Hm. Well, those are all the questions. Now turn back... or you will die like you should have already."
Garrick: "Who are you...?"
Digifanatic: "Well, what is ahead of us that you don't want us to see?"
???: "I am not going to tell you anything. Otherwise I would be compelled to... kill you." The thing goes silent.
Metal Man (GM): The weird hologram stuff fades. The ceiling has collapsed in and made a massive wall blocking the way forward.
Andrew: "Do X, Do W, Goto Zero? ..."
Garrick: "...bad joke..."
Andrew: "No, I never said that."
Aribar: "Do we continue onward, or do we just wonder through the forest?"
Andrew: "My mind burns..."
Kenku: "So now what? This looks like a dead end..."
Garrick: "...the best option is to head back through the tunnel. ...though this thing seems to know more about the whole Reploid thing..."
Kenku: "Right... hmm... we might although want to try that upper pipe near the beginning too."
Deloth: "I think we may need reinforcements for this place... Tactical retreat?"
Garrick: "Aye. Let's gather some information and return. There's not much we can do with the rock slab in the way."
Mario: "...It is-a instantaneous path now. The-a obstacle course was launched-a out and destroyed!"
Aribar: "I vaguely think I could get get us past the wall, but we would still be at the jeopardy of our host's other traps."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers can turn back... and they don't necessarily need to go through the building.
Deloth: "We shall return... whatever your name is, you jackass."
Garrick: "Let's get out of here..."
Deloth turns around and heads out of the building.
Kenku heads back to the pipe.
Garrick turns and makes to leave as well.
Aribar follows the others.*
Andrew follows behind.
Aribar: "I've got to wonder if the Maverick Hunters know of this place, though."
Garrick: "We'll talk to them."
Metal Man (GM): The door out is still locked.
Digifanatic: *follows.*
Deloth: *Heads out of this place.*
Digifanatic: "And now we're... stuck?"
Garrick: "...great..."
Kenku looks annoyed and decides to try to hack at the door a couple times.
Digifanatic: *Are there any windows?*
Metal Man (GM): BOOOOOM. The entire place explodes in one point, and comes crashing down around the Questers!
Deloth: "FUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!" *can't even TRY to dodge that.*
Dragoshi: *Still gets buried! Hooray!
Kenku is caught and painfully buried.
Deloth: "We're LEAVING! WHY THE HELL DID YOU DO THAT?!"
Aribar tries to use 5 blasts of Kinesis to try and keep the majority from hitting the group!*
Metal Man (GM): It takes far too long to energize it to do that. Aribar does manage to protect himself, however, with 1 use. He may use the other uses to free the rest of the people.
Andrew sees Aribar bust so decides to Grab Garrick and use Hidden File.
Aribar would free the other four Questers that weren't fortunate enough to escape.
Metal Man (GM): Andrew tries to outspeed the rubble with his attack. *SMASH.* No good.
Digifanatic: "I'm alright. Thanks."
Deloth groans. "Okay, see, at least that was a good effort. Now work on not hitting people that are leaving."
Metal Man (GM): Best used before, not after the entire castle falls on everyone.
Kenku gets out of the rubble to try. "Thanks."
Metal Man (GM): ...Robots are approaching. Two small hovering robots with missile launchers.
Kenku readies his sword.
Deloth: "..."
Metal Man (GM): It appears this person wants the Questers dead.
Garrick grunts as he gets to his feet, shaking off the stars dancing around his head.
Andrew: "... Ow..."
Metal Man (GM): Unless the Questers run away, of course.
Andrew tries to wiggle out.
Metal Man (GM): Andrew is freed by Aribar's Kinesis. The Questers get a radio call.
Deloth spits out another broken tooth and makes a break for it, losing his shifted disguise as he runs. Oh well.
Aribar unsheathes Sunlight. "Fight or flight?"
Metal Man (GM): Deloth runs away, towards the factory/pipe.
Garrick grunts as he looks to the robots, shifting back as he pulls the radio with one hand and his pistol with the other.
Metal Man (GM): The robots are about to open fire on the Questers, despite being a ways away. Curse their missile technology!
Dragoshi: *Gets owt!*
Digifanatic: *runs as well--there's almost nothing left worth fighting for, right?*
Garrick: "Just go!" *He turns and runs while he answers the radio.*
Andrew runs with the others.
X: *Radio.* "Was that you guys in the Maverick area? Get out of there! NOW!"
Andrew: "A bit late now..."
Garrick: *radio.* "Excuse the hell outta us, we got turned around in the pipes!"
X: *Radio.* "That's the heart of their forces. They'll blow you up!"
Kenku sees everybody running and turns and runs for the pipe.
X: *Radio.* "We're sending a rescue crew... keep running!"
Garrick: *radio.* "No, really? We thought they'd invite us to a nice dinner..."
X: *Radio.* "Unless you have some faster way."
Aribar retreats, but slower than the others. He would attempt to destroy any missiles that get too close.
Metal Man (GM): Aribar sees two missiles inbound.
Deloth makes a jump for the pipe as soon as possible.
Garrick: "DEL! NO!"
Metal Man (GM): A bit treacherous but Deloth can leap back down.
Garrick: "Into the forest!"
Deloth: "WHY?!"
Kenku: "What?!?"
Garrick: "They see the pipe, they get into Mushroom Kingdom!"
Deloth screeches to a halt.
Metal Man (GM): The robots launch more missiles. The two Aribar wishes to destroy are nearing him.
Deloth: "...Right!"
Kenku stops. "Right" he says and turns for the forest edge.
Metal Man (GM): Some lasers fly over the Questers' heads. Some long-range marksmen are firing at them.
Deloth changes direction and hotfoots it for the forest, swinging his swords to knock down tree limbs as he runs.
Garrick: "Del, missiles inbound! Blow them!"
Aribar (belatedly) fires two Fire Eles; one at each missile.
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM BLAM* Two down... two more incoming! The Questers about half-way to the edge of the forest.
Garrick leaps over a nearby tree, rolling and rushing into a run, trying his damnedest to get away.
Metal Man (GM): There's a short plain ahead; a ship has landed, bearing the Maverick Hunter insignia.
Aribar launches two more blasts of fire; he can keep this up for quite a while.
Metal Man (GM): The missilebots determine they cannot fire past Aribar's own veil of fire. So two marksmen try to snipe him!
Kenku runs for the rescue plane.
Metal Man (GM): The group runs past the fringe of the forest.
Garrick: "MOVE! Everyone to the ship, go!"
Dragoshi: *Keeps on runnin', runnin', runnin'.*
Metal Man (GM): The marksmen are only able to fire at him, since he's about at the back of the group.
Deloth pours on whatever stamina he's got left for the dash to the ship!
Metal Man (GM): The Questers across the plain slowly; it's a bit larger than they thought. The sky seems full of aerial attack bots... the ship begins firing at them. It begins raining robot pieces.
Andrew keeps on running prying he does not get bonked on the head.
Metal Man (GM): Sans Aribar, everyone gets onto the ship. Aribar's status depends on his defense... And what he does next, like, run to the ship/cast rejoin/dance.
Aribar: *Hey, he didn't think of Rejoin. Does that.*
Deloth does a picture-perfect jump and roll into the ship. 9.8 on the judges' cards!
Metal Man (GM): Aribar gets nailed in the head for damage, then again. Aribar rejoins and then promptly falls over! At near death!
Garrick: "Get him on the ship!"
X: "Get us out of here!"
Dragoshi: *Picks up Ari and gets on the damn ship!*
Metal Man (GM): The ship takes off as Ari is dragged aboard.
Aribar groans. He's in a tiny bit of pain. Just a little bit.
Garrick leaps onto it as well.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers see the full layout... they were wandering through an overgrown palace area.
Andrew: "Wow."
Metal Man (GM): The area the Questers were in was blown to bits; it is one of many ruined buildings.
Digifanatic: "Wonder what was with the other buildings."
X: "How did you get there? We had to run several blockades to get to you... we detected unusual comms activity on our frequency."
Andrew: "Also, Aribar, it seems you are on or close to the critical existence line, so you may want to avoid anything sharp or pointy."
Aribar: "Th-thanks for the advice, Andrew."
Garrick: "...Andrew, for the last fucking time. Shut up about the damn critical existence line."
Kenku: "Garrick... fine to tell him?"
X: "We picked up some faint line about Dr. Light. Then when we radioed we got you... and a building exploded."
Deloth sits down, panting and wheezing. "Geez, and I thought we were just doing a repair job..."
X: "Oh, yeah. That place was left ruined on purpose. Lures in easy targets."
Garrick: "We were doing some work for the Mushroom Kingdom. A pipe path that was supposed to take us to a place where we could connect the continents together. Lead us here."
X: "How strange... there isn't any transportation hub there, is there?"
Andrew: *quietly.* "Mmph. I wonder what this world's standards for a scientific document are."
X: "This continent is full of lost treasures from another century."
Garrick: "Not a hub, as far as I saw. Just the one pipe."
X: "Because long ago, there were many transportation areas, just as there were prior to the Maverick wars... ...Anyway, did you send the message about Dr. Light?"
Garrick: "...I talked about him, but... I didn't send a message, no."
X: "It was... well..." He looks at all of you. "None of you are Reploids."
Garrick growls, his fist slamming into the bulkhead. "Panzer."
X: "..." He thinks and plays it back. '*GHSK*Dr. Light, you *BZKHT* me!' "It came from this area... and probably saved your lives... but now where would she have gone?" We... can't really get in here, I'm afraid. You see how they repelled you there."
Garrick: "She was talking about finding and taking out Vile."
X: "... Taking out Vile? He's... he's not what he was even when we last encountered him. There's a reason they've been able to run that massive complex. Something's strange... he isn't acting as stupid as he usually does."
Deloth: "Which means that Panzer is probably lying in a scrap heap somewhere, I take it?"
X: "Well. You got roughed up just walking near their inner sanctum. I would suspect anyone who managed to sneak inside would be killed."
Garrick: "Hmpf."
X: "Unless they... used stealth. We've been looking to develop some way to sneak in and out. It's their nerve center. If we could blow it up, the Maverick Rebellion would be destroyed for good."
Garrick frowns, scratching his chin...
X: "The Sigma Virus has been destroyed using our patch to the flaw in the replication of my empathy circuit. All that's left is... an incredibly dangerous early form of the virus which we haven't been able to recognize or defeat, because it appears to be older than any of us."
Deloth: "Hrm... you'd need a drilling machine. The place caved in, practically."
X: "A drill..." He thinks. "We could build one, although that's the problem. Raw materials are scarce. Few places are livable."
Garrick: "Heh."
X: "It's part of their show of power that they control one of a few livable habitats on the continent."
Garrick: "...maybe we could work out a deal, X..."
X: "Perhaps." The ship rumbles. "Hm, we got lucky. The patrols were recalled... we're almost to base now. Appears they didn't expect us to save you."
Garrick: "Yes, well, we're more hard headed than that."
X: "What did you hear anyway? We haven't been able to get much intel of what's going on in there, for obvious reasons."
Garrick: "Some sort of hologram, dropping stones on us. Asked us about Wily, Dr. Light, you."
X: "Hm... yes... the work of Vile, I am sure. Maybe some security program, but he's been known to use those as of recent."
Deloth: "While pounding the shit out of us with big rocks."
X: "You are humans... he wouldn't have let you live if he had the chance to kill you."
Garrick growls...
Aribar: .oO(And he failed! ... Mostly!)
Garrick: "I'm getting a little fed up with that, X."
X: "Well, we're at a stalemate. We both have equal resources, an all-out battle would destroy the attacker. IF you want in there, you'll need to supply the material from those far away, more plentiful continents. You spoke of a Mushroom Kingdom?"
Garrick: "Aye. Our ship is there."
X: "And where is the pipe to this place? Or whatever you call it..."
Deloth: "It's not a stalemate. Your army plus us equals a damn big majority."
Garrick: "Back there. In the forest. We ran away from it so they didn't have another foothold."
X: "While you could get in during the confusion, they would use their home base advantage to destroy our forces. They would simply need to evacuate a small portion of their forces. Then they could take us over and fight you, while we would... have virtually nothing. We've checked. Mercenaries have offered countless times."
Garrick: "Which is why I lead them away from the pipe."
X: "...In the forest... ...That is very bad. We can't get to the forest without overflying a defense outpost somewhere."
Deloth: "So is there any GOOD news?"
Garrick: "...we COULD go in through the pipe. Small task force. You, Zero, us, the BLU guys."
X: "BLU what?"
Garrick: "Group we've hired. Good guys."
X: "Are they reploids?"
Garrick: "No, not reploids."
X: "I don't want to... cause even more human deaths... over what ostensibly is a rescue mission for a potential Maverick."
Garrick: "These guys... don't die. And neither do we."
Dragoshi: "Yeeeaaahhh..."
X: "..." He stares at Garrick. "Well... it would still be... suffering, but even so." He brings up a fuzzy image based on just what his ship and what the Questers mentioned of the palace. "If you came out somewhere inside the radius with even a small army, you could be surrounded. The usage of several discrete buildings ensures we can take one only for that building to be attacked on all sides."
Deloth: *frustratedly.* "X, I understand your point, but trust me. We're not going to die because we CAN'T die."
X: "The problem isn't immortal humans, the issue is if we fail then they may destroy me or Zero, or worse, counter-attack while we're down."
Garrick: "...then how about a dummy run?"
Dragoshi: "I see..."
X: "A dummy run?"
Garrick moves up to the small map, pointing out certain things. "The Questers move in through the forest, acting like a strike force to take out their main group. We go dark, sneak in."
Metal Man (GM): It shows the building which exploded, a question mark which says 'unknown pipe', and the outer field where the Questers were picked up.
Garrick points again. "Meanwhile, Zero and you come in through the pipe. While they're focused on us, you sneak in behind them and go for the kill. If we get dropped on, we plant some explosives and run out. Blowing them behind us. One last big distraction."
Garrick folds his arms over his chest. "The Ol' Switcheroo."
X: "A plausible idea, however we don't know which building is the main one, and even if they were all unmanned, it would take hours to check them all. Going in blind and leaving with several holes in us and their knowledge of our intentional invasion may cause further missions to become impossible if we fail. I would much like it if you could find more than just you and BLU. We need... machines of war."
Garrick glances to the others. "Robotnik, maybe?"
X: "They possess a large variety of ships and infantry, we do not have expendable flying machines or weaponry suitable for invasion."
Deloth: "Maybe Tails, too."
Kenku: "I dunno... you sure getting Robotnik in this is a good idea?"
Garrick: "Hmm. Point."
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Garrick: "...we might talk to Samus and her crew. They have ships."
X: "In the meantime... how will you get back to your ship, so you can get this backup?"
Garrick: "Well, you could be a NICE robot and fly us there."
Digifanatic: "Can't we just fly back to the--yeah. Please?"
X: "..." He shakes his head. "We can't remove a ship, and I am not a robot. If we could just fly on over we'd have left this place by now. You will need to get one of your people with your longer range ships to pick you up."
Garrick sighs, running his hand through his hair. "...got a radio?"
X: "Yes, it should travel as far as necessary."
Metal Man (GM): He turns on the ship's radio.
X: "It's all yours."
Garrick sighs and makes to adjust it to the proper frequency. *r* "Robotnik... come in."
Dr. Robotnik: "This is an odd carrier wave you have, Garrick. Have you been spilling soda on the radio again?"
Garrick: "No, Robotnik... we're by the Maverick Hunter's base... we need pickup."
Dr. Robotnik: "Okay... how did you get there without a ship? ...I mean... if it's technology I could use... it might prevent this from happening again. Just... a slight note."
Garrick: "Warp... pipe... technology. Look, just come and get us? I promise to tell you all about it when you pick us up."
Dr. Robotnik: "Warp pipe. Hm. Not familiar. I'm flying over there now, wait a moment." *Click.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are in Maverick Hunter HQ. Zero walks up to you.
Zero: "Oh... don't tell me. You went after her."
Garrick sighs as he steps off the ship. "No, we wound up there on accident..."
Zero: "I knew it had to be something. The tracker on my cure device went straight into Sigma Central and vanished. Then a while later... wait. You found a secret way into there?"
Deloth steps out of the ship slowly. "Yep."
Digifanatic: *gets off.*
Garrick: "Aye, we did. We're discussing with X a sufficient way to get in without the whole 'dying' part."
Zero: "This could be useful. We've had a hard time just getting out there."
X: "It's a dead end. There's too many buildings. Vile could be in any of them. We already saw one explode upon being intruded."
Aribar decides to use his time constructively. The delusional half-elf reads his Activate book while limping after the others. Somehow.
Zero: "Hmph, X, you just like to give up too easily. If we could line up some real firepower we could just destroy all of them and be done with the Mavericks."
X: "We don't have any. They want to sacrifice some more humans but it's unlikely that'll help."
Zero: "Well, I guess X is right."
Metal Man (GM): Just then, the humongous Egg Carrier lowers from the sky.
Garrick: "Look, there's not MUCH firepower out there."
Zero: "...Why didn't you tell us about THAT again?"
Deloth: "We're not sacrificing anybody. Nobody dies. WHY do you never listen?"
Zero: "I remember you had a ship, but... geez... it looks almost twice as large as before."
Garrick: "What, no. This is the Egg Carrier. Robotnik's ship."
Dr. Robotnik: "Good morning, gentlemen! I hope you are not too bothered by my appearance, but I heard you... irrationally teleported using mysterious technology to a hostile continent, and thought I would pick you up!"
Garrick sighs softly and turns around. "Hello, Doc..."
Zero: "Robotnik? He isn't related to Dr. Wily is he?"
Metal Man (GM): Eggman slides down a rope ladder to meet everyone.
Garrick: "No, he's not related to Dr. Wily..."
Dr. Robotnik: "Dr. Who?"
Zero: "No, not Dr. Who."
Kenku stands near Garrick.
Garrick: "Dr. Nobody. Look, can we just go?"
Dr. Robotnik: "Yes." He looks at Zero. "A sentient robot?" He turns again. "Not yet!"
Garrick growls...
Dr. Robotnik: "I've been trying to make these for YEARS... and look... so neatly designed. It's almost alive!"
Metal Man (GM): He tries to measure parts of Zero.
Garrick: "They ARE alive, Robotnik."
Deloth: "Don't measure him, okay?"
Zero: "Keep your hands to yourself, mustachioed creep. You look a bit too much like Wily for my liking."
Dr. Robotnik: "But... if I had sentient robot servants, then I could rule the wor--I mean help you. A lot."
Aribar: "Robotnik, there are sentient robots that need destroyed! Research their broken parts after you kill them!"
Garrick: "...*sigh.*...okay, just for the sake of everything, I'm going to ask."
Deloth sighs.
Garrick: "Doc."
Zero: "And we're not robots... Reploids, you... freak."
Dr. Robotnik: "There are robots... reploids... things... I can destroy without you getting angry? Well, why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Garrick: "You wouldn't happen to have an entire legion of expendable, able-to-fly robots with good munitions, do you?"
Dr. Robotnik: "I've needed a way to fix the rebellion problem. Metal Sonic, you see... when he became sentient, he never listened to me again."
Zero: "What the..." He stares at Dr. Robotnik. "I knew it. You have to have been some contemporary of Dr. Wily. Nobody else would know how to make a sentient being!"
Garrick: "He's NOT related to Dr. Wily!"
Dr. Robotnik: "What? No. Dr. Nobody never spoke to me. Er. Wily. Whoever he is. I have a robot army, if you must ask, but it's defensive only. I wouldn't want to just waste it. But why should I? Just tell me where this place is with expendable robots and I'll blow it to smithereens!"
Deloth: "..."
Kenku: "I think it's time we leave..." *Said in a weary tone.*
Andrew just finds a place to sit and relax for a while.
Zero: "And then be blown up, because it has more anti-air missiles than even we do."
Deloth just walks over to the nearest wall and begins smashing his head into it. Repeatedly.
X: "..." *Stares at Dr. Robotnik.* "You... kill machines? Why do you cause such pain and destruction? Your world is not like ours. You don't have to."
Aribar: "The robots are in that direction!" *Point.*
Dr. Robotnik: "Bah, they're blinking lightbulbs, made to deliver me snacks."
Metal Man (GM): He looks in that direction.
Deloth: *WHAM. WHAM. WHAM. WHAM. WHAM.*
Dr. Robotnik: "...I don't see much over there..." He takes out binoculars. "Is that a forest in the distance?"
Garrick: "...yes... yes, it is."
Aribar: "I have no idea. Feeling a little light-headed at the moment!"
Dragoshi: "...yep."
Dr. Robotnik: "Hm... yes... yes! Our friend here is quite right... it is a forest... studded with defenses. Good thing I didn't fly over it! Well... I really should leave... I have to eat lunch."
Digifanatic: *muttering to himself.* "Just weird..."
Zero: "Where is this 'Metal Sonic'? We don't need a SECOND Maverick virus amongst us."
Dr. Robotnik: "Oh, in my ship."
Garrick: "ALRIGHT, THAT'S IT!"
Zero: "And?"
Garrick moves between the Reploids and Robotnik.
Dr. Robotnik: "He's locked up." He turns to Garrick. "I think I should go now."
Garrick: "Yes. We should. Go."
Metal Man (GM): He climbs up the ladder at really fast speeds. Weird.
Garrick turns to the Reploids.
Metal Man (GM): How does he move so fast?
Zero: "That fat man only raises questions about who you know."
Garrick: "We'll get back to you about how we're going to help. And we are going to help. Us weak, frail little humans." *He grumbles and turns, making to get onto the ship as well.*
Kenku climbs aboard the ship.
Zero: "Be careful... that man is clearly a relative or companion of the likes of Dr. Wily. If he is... he might just take over the Mavericks and become a new problem. I wouldn't accept any bargains from him that were... suspicious... But, he's your problem for now." He walks off.
Deloth mumbles something to himself as he climbs up into the Egg Carrier.
Dragoshi: *Just... climbs up into the ship. Woo.*
Aribar: "He will! He'll doom us all!" *Follows the others.*
Digifanatic: *follows.*
X: "This fighting never does us any good anyway..."
Metal Man (GM): He walks away. The Questers are on the ship. Eggman is on the helm.
Dr. Robotnik: "So, where to?"
Garrick: "Mushroom Kingdom..."
Dr. Robotnik: "I am quite hungry after talking to those... sentient robots..."
Metal Man (GM): He flies towards there. It'll take a moment. He begins loudly devouring a sandwich.
Deloth sits down and grabs his head with both hands. "If anything can go wrong, it will..."
Dr. Robotnik: "So... how did you get beaten up THIS time?"
Aribar: "Robots, nik!"
Dr. Robotnik: "I wish to know of these mysterious people who you say I can blow up. Robots. What kind? Where? Why?"
Garrick sighs, then explains the situation to Robotnik in enough detail that he gets it... for speed purposes.
Metal Man (GM): He sits there and thinks.
Dr. Robotnik: "So he wanted information... And he doesn't like humans."
Garrick: "Pretty much."
Metal Man (GM): He chuckles.
Dr. Robotnik: "So we just send in a robot!"
Aribar: "With explosives!"
Dr. Robotnik: "And viruses!"
Garrick: "...you want to hit them with a virus?"
Dr. Robotnik: "Well, of course. I keep hearing about how they are weak to viruses."
Garrick: "...well, either way, we don't have a robot. We'd need one hell of a bot to do it."
Dr. Robotnik: "Well... I could make a special-built one but it wouldn't be good enough. ...Or we could release Metal Sonic. Maybe fool him into thinking they are all Sonic." He chuckles evilly.
Garrick: "No."
Aribar: "Those robots already have a virus in them... And no Metal Sonic."
Dr. Robotnik: "I could make metal doppelgangers of you. Metal Garrick. Metal Aribar."
Garrick: "They'd know what we look like."
Dr. Robotnik: "What if... you remote-controlled robots made to look like the average reploid thingymabob? Then if you fail, nobody really dies."
Aribar: "Launch your entire army alongside the Maverick Hunters!"
Dr. Robotnik: "You snuck in there with a pipe, so you could even wander right in. You'd need to explain the continuous transmission of data to an unknown source, or maybe avoid knocking into too many sensors, but... whaat is it you want from there? Wasteful. I would rather destroy them with a giant missile."
Kenku: "I don't know... I mean... with such schematics, isn't that getting a little too close to comfort..."
Garrick: "To take them all out. Our main goal is to find the main nerve building in that forest and take it out."
Dr. Robotnik: "Oh." He thinks. "Well, there's apparently many buildings, so we need one espionage mission to find the nerve building. Otherwise we require a weapon of mass destruction. The latter, I assure you, is many times all our money put together."
Garrick: "Then we'd need to sneak in."
Dr. Robotnik: "Although that person, Jack, I hear about, could afford one. The bad stuff happened when you entered a building, right?"
Garrick: "Pretty much, yeah."
Aribar: "They don't appear to care about their own buildings!"
Dr. Robotnik: "Well." He chuckles. "We plant sensors everywhere and let them record who goes where."
Garrick: "Could we do it without them noticing the sensors?"
Dr. Robotnik: "No building infiltration. Zero chance of being caught, although... my genius tells me they might have the occasional person walking around. Well... they would be found eventually. They ARE high tech... robot... people. Sort of why I would prefer having Metal Sonic blow things up, infect people with viruses, and cause mayhem. Or a giant missile. Or an orbital death ray attack. Stealth just doesn't work well against people who can make sentient machines. I know that myself, having caught and blasted more thieves than you have fingers."
Garrick: "...we'll look over our options. We have a few."
Dr. Robotnik: "There is one question though... do you really need to destroy that nerve center? I understand you hate them, but... It would seem contradictory to pool your resources into that when your own stadium is incomplete. You just appeared there at random. Unless there is something they have you need, it seems... useless to blow them up at this juncture. Previously, I have had chances to destroy Sonic... but was busy elsewhere. It would have been foolhardy to just turn around and blow him up, only for the planet to explode, rebels to take over, or GUN to shoot me the minute I was done."
Garrick frowns, pondering it...
Dr. Robotnik: "These 'Maverick Hunters' appear dedicated to the task... you on the other hand just knocked into it."
Garrick: "...I suppose you're right. We can't officially do anything unless we're asked or they have something that we need."
Deloth: "So our options basically boil down to failure in any case."
Garrick: "That's how the Questers work. And they don't really have anything we need, and the Maverick Hunters seem focused on believing that humanity is weaker then they are."
Dr. Robotnik: "It would appear that they have mistrust of scientists. Perhaps all the humans who could do anything failed at some important juncture in history. I can only imagine... whoever made these robots did not contain them, like I do!"
Garrick turns to the others, frowning as he regards them.
Dr. Robotnik: "And not just that... but many, many of them... everywhere... The humans in their world were idiots!"
Deloth: *head in hands, groaning softly.*
Garrick: "...let's get the ship back, then head to the stadium... we'll discuss this there."
Metal Man (GM): The ship lands next to your ship in the Mushroom Kingdom.
Kenku: "Yea, in the end that's the best choice of action."
Garrick makes to head off the Egg Carrier, going to their ship...
Kenku transfers between ships.
Deloth just silently gets up and off the Carrier, heading back to the Quester ship. "Why is it that anything we touch winds up exploding, guys?"
Digifanatic: *transfers.*
Garrick fires up the ship once everyone is on, launching and heading back to the stadium. "...we have a simple choice, everyone. We can help the Maverick Hunters... or we don't help them."
Aribar passes out.
Kenku: "Well... the question to that is 'will helping them be enough?'"
Deloth: "After that 'humans are worthless' spiel, I'm getting close to saying that we just give them all a good hard kick and leave."
Digifanatic: "Wouldn't be surprised if that wound up being the case."
Dragoshi: "Same."
Metal Man (GM): Some time passes.
Garrick lands at the stadium.
Kenku: "I mean... they are in a stalemate right now, and it will take more than one stealthy attack to turn the tide..."
Metal Man (GM): The Stadium is nearly done. Well. The structure. Still bare inside, sans lights n' doors. Engineer is busy working while the same guard are up, looking for troublemakers. Engineer turns to the Questers.
Digifanatic: "Hi again."
Garrick lands outside it, guessing there isn't a particular landing point yet.
Engineer: "Ah, we're doin' good. Shot some thieves to bits too."
Deloth: "Wow. This place is going up great."
Digifanatic: "Huh."
Garrick: "...hey, Engineer. Can I get your opinion on something?"
Kenku: "On top of it... I don't trust Robotnik to help one bit if we did this... his talk was so creepy... and it definitely didn't help X and Zero's perspectives on this..."
Engineer: "Sure."
Garrick leans against the nearby wall, going over everything that just happened...
Engineer: "Woah. They've really misused their science over there. Don't they know that anything too smart will become all-powerful and destroy the world? I do. Well, the way I see it, you've got a secret entrance. They've got some great security systems. So we just have spy here sneak in and sap their security to bits."
Garrick stares. "...holy fuck. ...I cannot believe I didn't think of that..."
Engineer: "Then we build some sentry turrets and shoot them up, and shoot fires and missile and death until they blow up."
Kenku: "You think Spy wouldn't have problems with their security detection?"
Engineer: "He can turn invisible and morph into other people. Well, appear and speak like them."
Garrick: "Yeah, but we're talking about robots here. Not people."
Engineer: "He specializes in fooling machines."
Deloth: "Hey, I imitated Vile and that worked."
Engineer: "People? People get suspicious. Machines... they've got limited sense. Limited intelligence."
Garrick: "True, true... alright... alright, we'll do that, then."
Engineer: "Don't let those futuristic toasters get you down. They're just too stupid to know what humans are capable of. It just sounds like some people as stupid as RED decided they'd automate everything, then got killed. As is inevitable."
Garrick: "We'll go over the plan, as well..."
Engineer: "Of course... we need an objective." He nods. "We can't blow it all up, so we need some kind of... thing. Like... do you want to take the place over? Steal some of their files? Blow up the most important part?"
Garrick: "The goal here is to blow up the most important part... but..."
Engineer: "That's a fun one. We get a giant bomb and wheel it up, killing all their forces who try to stop us. Then we give it a good shove and run away before the whole thing explodes."
Kenku: "Won't that take a lot of time to construct?"
Deloth: "...Yeah, that sounds fun."
Engineer: "..." He smirks and holds his wrench.
Deloth: "I still want one of those wrenches, by the way."
Engineer: "I can make one and we can take advantage of your numbers to shove it... I know they probably don't have a track, but we can improvise. That's what you're here for."
Kenku: "Ok."
Garrick: "...we should also look into getting Panzer outta there."
Engineer: "Heck. Let's leave those dumb robots outta it. Woah. One moment... you want to save a hostage? See. We gotta keep these separate."
Garrick sighs, running his hands over his eyes.
Engineer: "We can blow up the place, but a hostage will get killed. We can save the hostage, but then we'll need a separate area to do our bomb attack with."
Deloth: "Yeah, but we can rebuild her."
Engineer: "Have any clue where she is? Where she would have gone?"
Garrick: "I suppose we could... if we can get her CPU, it should be a snap."
Deloth: "All we need to do is get her... floppy... RAM... CPU thing. Right, that. Thank you, Garrick."
Garrick nods. "She'll have gone after Vile... who, if there's any good guess, is the main building."
Engineer: He stares at Garrick, then begins laughing nefariously. "Boy, you had me worried for a moment there."
Garrick: "...eh?"
Engineer: "They must be in the same place then. Only the important people like me, the Engineer, guard the central Intelligence spot! So we wheel a bomb up to it, kill everyone who opposes us, blow up their security, and then run away before anyone who can outgun us gets on our case. Oh, and... find the CPU... whatever remains of this person. We just gotta act fast. Shock them. They think humans are dumb. That's great. They'll not even think twice until Spy has killed several of their people and sapped their defenses to nothing."
Garrick smirks a bit... "Alright... gather BLU. We've got a mission to take care of."
Engineer: "See. Against RED, they know we're tricky. And we know the same. So it's a real nasty deal, because we're evenly matched. These robots are dumb, and think they can use their sentry turret-esque powers to just shoot it. But like sentry turrets... they can be sapped."
Garrick: "Oh, and Engineer..."
Engineer: "At least. I've never seen an electrical device survive being blasted with electricity."
Garrick leans it a bit, muttering into his ear.
Engineer: "Yes?" His men slowly gather. "Huh? Er... no. I had no clue."
Deloth: "...?"
Garrick: "...meh. We'll talk about it later, then."
Deloth tries to listen to what Garrick's thinking.
Engineer: "Yes. We must prepare..."
Metal Man (GM): The Soldier walks over. His thinking obscures whatever Garrick was thinking. Deloth gets images of people being blown up by rockets.
Deloth: "..."
Garrick: "Alright. Gather whatever you need and get ready to move. Make sure the defenses on the stadium are locked well enough that they can withstand any thieves or the like."
Kenku nods with a smile.
Garrick turns to the Questers.
Soldier: "Yes, we shall exterminate these robo-troids with the best weapons we have... those worms will be blown to bits!"
Dragoshi: *Nods, then chuckles lightly.* .oO(This is gonna get good...)
Garrick: "Alright, guys. If you need to do anything, now's the time to do it. Bomb and sap or no, this is gonna be a hell of a fight. Look into getting some items, if you can find any."
Engineer: "Upgraded weapons?" He thinks. "We'll look in to it."
Digifanatic: "If I can find things that'll keep me and/or any of you guys alive, that'll be fine for me."
Garrick: "Medic. Have you ever tried to take items OUT of the health cabinet?"
Kenku looks around for the heavy.
Medic: "No. They cannot be taken out." He looks at all of the Questers. "I may not be able to heal you, but..." He thinks. "I have a gun which may up your attack strength."
Metal Man (GM): The Heavy is off to the side, looking around. He's still sort of guarding the area.
Garrick: "That'll do."
Kenku: "Hey Heavy, got a sandwich or I could borrow."
Deloth: "Grab it. It's worth a shot."
Heavy: "Hm?" He gives Kenku one. "Eat fast. It go bad tomorrow!"
Garrick: "Alright... tomorrow morning, bright an early. Make whatever preparations you need."
Kenku looks at it. "Ok, thanks", he says as he takes it and chomps on it.
Deloth: "...I wonder what I can do around here during the night."
Engineer: "Sure thing, ally." He walks off.
Garrick walks off himself, moving into the stadium...
Kenku turns to the stadium, munching on the sandvich.
Deloth: *walking in.* "That's one downside. It's hard finding entertainment for night after night."
Digifanatic also takes a look in...
Deloth: "...That, and I miss being able to dream."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... I got an idea."
Dragoshi: *Decides to join in on the lookin' in.* "And, that is?"
Digifanatic: "Transform back into your human form again. Just want to test something."
Deloth: "...?" *starts shifting back to his human form.*
Digifanatic: .oO(Let's see if this works again. 542... 542... 542...) *waits for a response or lack thereof.*
Deloth: "Two hundred and seventy-one, times two."
Digifanatic: .oO(Hello? 542... 542...) "Wow. Transformation doesn't affect the trick."
Deloth: "Apparently not. Anything else?"
Digifanatic: "Nope!" .oO(Unless of course, he remembered that was my last number. 283.)
Deloth: *shifts back.* "Two eighty-three."
Digifanatic: "Nice. Probably because the transformation isn't intended to be permanent, or at least long-term..."
Deloth: "I'm just still highly confused about why this happened."
Digifanatic: "I'm going to check out our lodging facilities, if those have been put up yet." *goes to where those would be if they've been built.*
Metal Man (GM): They're up, but very minimal.
Digifanatic: "It's a nice start..."
Dragoshi: "That it is."
Digifanatic: "Well, I'm gonna move on and check the rest of the developments out... this is too empty to be interesting so far." *He continues to take a walk around the mostly empty place, getting a better feel for his surroundings.*
