Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 68: Chaotic Questing
Date: 6:24:38 PM, April 25th; 5:15:58 PM, April 27th, 2009.
Deloth shifts from one foot to the other, waiting for a chance to head to the Dojo and sell this mask.
Aribar: "I was actually hearing some of my peers talk on the phone just a little bit ago. They're organizing a rather large tournament, or exhibition match, or something. You may want to get in touch with them to talk about bets, or advertisements, or something."
Kenku: "Hmm... maybe we should buy a mobile phone... Del is getting antsy."
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Thug: "Eh. We'll wait and see if we want to be associated first. We don't even have our first vault ready."
Digifanatic: "Nothing else to say except thanks and have a good day." *Click.*
Aribar: "Okay then." *The half-elf goes to leave, trying to hide a shiver from running down the back of his spine. He didn't particularly want to deal with those thugs, but he wanted to at least attempt to search for magic spells.*
Digifanatic: "Okay, Deloth wants the mask, Raena wants a blacksmith, we all need the guys from the Dojo..."
Deloth: "What we need is another ship..."
Digifanatic: "And that."
Deloth: "So, ready to head to the Dojo?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah... we'll see if we can drag N&R into this so we don't have to keep going back and forth."
Kenku: "I also want to stop by a equipment or hardware store, and Carrington at some point." *Kenku says* "But I can do that when we hit Mushroom Kingdom."
Digifanatic: "That's fine."
Deloth: "Okay."
Digifanatic: *Radios Natalie* "Listen, we'll be leaving in a few minutes. We'll try and cover that blacksmith for Raena if you're interested in coming."
Metal Man (GM): The ship sits, idling.
Deloth heads out and gets into the ship, mask tucked under his arm.
Kenku heads to the ship.
Dragoshi: *Walks on over to the ship.*
Aribar decides to head to the ship. If the others are still talking on the phone then maybe he'll just fly to Capital City or Angel Island hims--Oh, look. people are there...
Metal Man (GM): You're finally on the ship.
Digifanatic starts walking towards the ship *Will presume N&R on auto-follow if Natalie doesn't respond within the next few moments.*
Natalie: "We'll be there in just a sec." *And just like that, there they are.*
Deloth: "I REALLY hope I can pull off this sale."
Digifanatic: "Okay, so a couple of stops at the Mushroom Kingdom, one on Termina... let's hit it."
Kenku: "If anyone needs help finding shops, I'm heading to the Information Shop."
Digifanatic starts flying out towards the Mushroom Kingdom, then. He presumes this goes uneventless, so FF to landing it near where they did last time they did a leisurely run to the MK.
Metal Man (GM): You begin flying there... the purple ship atta--just kidding! You land right there at the area near Toad Town.
Kenku steps off to go find the information shop from before.
Deloth hops out and looks around for the Dojo.
Digifanatic: *Follows Deloth, maybe he can aid in the offer or something.*
Metal Man (GM): Kenku finds the weird man standing there with his top hat. Again, I forget the name, so watch me randomly make up another one.
Aribar would head to Peach's castle.
Find Y.: "Hey you... want to find something?"
Metal Man (GM): Deloth reaches the Dojo. The door is open. Aribar finds Peach's castle.
Deloth heads in, looking around for whoever might be the master.
Digifanatic: *Lets Deloth in first since he's the one that wants to make the offer.*
Kenku: "Hello, I was wondering if I could get help finding an Equipment shop, a Moblie Phone Store, and..."
Aribar would attempt to find some toad retainer or someone similar in the castle and ask them if there is a library in here.
Find Y.: "Ten coins a find, my dear customer."
Metal Man (GM): The Master: An old, hunched over Toad. He looks to Deloth.
The Master: "Hello young man."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar would find Toad.
Toad: *Toad screech* "Hiiii!"
Deloth: *Bows* "Hello, sir. I believe we talked on the phone earlier about a mask."
Dragoshi: *Has decided to follow Del along and siiiilently observe.* :x
Kenku clinches his teeth a little .oO(Ouch, he's gotten more expensive...)
Dragoshi: *He bows as well. Best to show respect.*
Digifanatic: *Follows suit.*
The Master: "Yes... you have the thing you spoke of?"
Deloth takes the mask and holds it out to the Master. "Yes, right here."
Kenku: "I'd like to go to the Equipment shop, the Mobile Phone store, and a blacksmith if you know one that can work on magical equipment." *He pulls out 30 coins.*
Aribar: "Er, hello, sir." *The half-elf rubs his ears and now has a slight ringing in them...* "I was wondering if this castle happened to have a library in it, or possibly if there was one in Toad Town. I'm looking about for spell books."
The Master: "Can I see it... in action? You put it on, then I try to knock you over."
Metal Man (GM): Kenku pays the man.
Deloth blinks, then nods and puts the mask on. .oO(Greeeeat. Trial by uppercut...)
Metal Man (GM): *ZONK* Okay, your coins have been taken.
The Master: "Which store first?"
Metal Man (GM): The Master attacks Deloth with a strong uppercut, as if he read Del's mind.
The Master: "HUAAAA!"
Metal Man (GM): *PUNCH* Deloth... ...sits there. It gives him one heck of a bruise, but he doesn't move.
Kenku: "The order I said is good, so I'll say the equipment store."
Deloth: *Rubs his jaw* "Good shot..."
Digifanatic: "Sir, I say that mask works pretty well..."
The Master: "Impressive." *He then cracks his knuckles.* "Again!" *He runs with a drop kick suspiciously similar to Julian's, aiming to try to knock Deloth over...*
Metal Man (GM): *BONK* He bounces right off.
The Master: "Yes... I will take the Mask. How much?"
Deloth: "Alright. Fifty coins, please." *He takes the mask off and hands it to the Master.*
The Masker: "Very well." *He gives Deloth 50 coins.*
Metal Man (GM): Back to the other scenes.
Toad: "Hm, maybe... but you can't just wander in there... it's Peach's!"
Find Y.: "Off you go!"
Metal Man (GM): Kenku and Natalie appear in a burst of smoke in the Equipment shop.
Aribar: "May I go ask her permission to search her library then?"
Kenku looks for a front desk.
Metal Man (GM): Equipment being general, it's a... gardening, home office and household equipment place.
Toad: "Sure, she's up there." *He points up the steps.*
Kenku: *find an info desk and asks* "Hi, I was wonder were you sold flashlights and rope?"
Office Person: "Aisle 50." *He points down a row of equipment shelves.*
The Masker: "Very well." *He gives Deloth 50 coins. When Deloth gets back, that is.*
Deloth: "Thank you, sir." *Bows again and leaves, feeling very satisfied.*
Aribar goes up the stairs to find Peach.
Metal Man (GM): And thanks to my control panel, coin things are being deducted/added in real time!
Kenku heads down the isle and tries to find himself a Maglight flashlight and some rope.
Dragoshi: *Also bows, and leaves.* :x
Digifanatic: *Ditto.*
Metal Man (GM): The Master takes the mask and begins immediately to have his students try it out. Kenku finds a Magneto (?) Brand Flashlight and some strong, thick rope. The Flashlight comes with batteries and is 30 coins. The rope's 10 coins a foot.
Deloth radios the others. "I'm ready to head out, now that I've made the sale."
Metal Man (GM): Aribar finds Peach atop the steps.
Peach: "Hello again."
Metal Man (GM): You can go cheaper with rope. You might not want to though.
Kenku picks up a flashlight, "Man... I wouldn't of been able to pay for enough to go down that shaft... I'm going to have to get myself a jetpack or something at some point"
Metal Man (GM): I mean. The rope I picked is pricey, but it won't fail from Panzer climbing on it.
Kenku picks up 3 feet of rope for now, and takes both to the cash register.
Aribar: "Greetings, Princess." *The half-elf gives a bow to the royalty.* "I was wondering if you had any books of spells in your library, or knew of... Er, nevermind, just the first thing."
Metal Man (GM): You go to the cash register.
Register Person: "Hello, will that be all for today?" *She would go to scan them/enter the length.*
Kenku: "Yes, that it." *Kenku says thinking about putting his other plans on hold for now.*
Peach: "...Well, not exactly. I have one book..."
Aribar: "May I ask what that book is?"
Register Person: "That'll be 60 coins." *She waits for Kenku to pay.*
Peach: "I have the... Cover book. It's used occasionally to help shield the castle."
Metal Man (GM): So, paying the 60 coins, Kenku?
Kenku passes the cashier the coins, and gets his stuff.
Metal Man (GM): Done, Kenku gets a receipt too. Now we see what Aribar thinks of Cover.
Kenku readies for the jump to the mobile phone shop.
Metal Man (GM): Kenku warps again! *WOOSH* He appears in Toadingular Wireless.
Aribar: "Would it be possible for me to borrow the book for a while until I learn its secrets?"
Metal Man (GM): Which is in the process of being renamed Toadion Wireless. There are signs on the wall that refer to it as Toadular Phones too. Do these people ever stop changing their name???
Peach: "Yes... for the normal rate the book seems to magically extract, regardless of whether I try to loan it for free." *She gets the book and hands it to Aribar.*
Metal Man (GM): A man with ten cell phones on him and two earpieces looks to Kenku.
Kenku goes to a desk. "Hi, I was wondering if I could get a small mobile phone plan?"
Aribar: "Thank you, Peach... One final question, if I may take up some more of your time. Do you know where I may find a pipe to Mario and Luigi's house?"
Cellphone Man: "Yeah, that'll be totally easy. We even have a new plan for people like you, since nobody in this weird mishmash world seems to live in the same place."
Kenku: "That's definitely true" *Kenku says, and waits for the sales pitch.*
Cellphone Man: "We just take 5 coins off of all the money you're paid and you get this trendy blue cellphone. Calls everywhere. Anywhere. All the time. Exceptions may apply. Does not work underwater, in outer space, underground, or in other time periods, or planes, or on fire. Coverage issues may apply to your area. Please consult a doctor if a strange rash appears on your forehead. We do not know exactly how Toadingular Wireless works. Do not attempt to take the phone apart. Do not allow sentient robots to use the telephone. Do not place pasta on the telephone."
Kenku: "Hmm... what areas have you had problems with coverage?"
Cellphone Man: "Please allow three days for activation. Additional fees may apply."
Kenku: "Such as?"
Cellphone Man: "We can't seem to get coverage in the Koholint area, and sometimes people like to jam the phone... It may cost more to activate. But not to worry, we have copied the magic of the spellbooks. Toadingular (TM) telephones auto-bill you the requisite coins when necessary."
Metal Man (GM): So in a nutshell: Instantaneous communication near-everywhere, which may wind up acting also as a portable wallet hole. Your choice.
Kenku: "I see... what if I'm short on coins?"
Cellphone Man: "Coverage will deactivate and a mild incentive will be deployed to ensure you obtain more."
Kenku: "Ok. Well, then that plan sounds fine for me, and I will apply for it."
Aribar: "Thank you, Peach... One final question, if I may take up some more of your time. Do you know where I may find a pipe to Mario and Luigi's house?"
Cellphone Man: "Okay... sign here, here, and here."
Metal Man (GM): He puts the cellphone down and puts a huge contract in front of you.
Kenku decides to skim the contract.
Peach: "Hmmm... right outside this place, a green pipe."
Metal Man (GM): Kenku: Search check! Kenku: Nothing objectionable appears. I.E., you skim and find nothing, and it's not like "You didn't find anything", it's like "It looks good to you." So you can't search again, because as far as you're concerned you did and checked it out all good. Unlike a room, where you can search endlessly and feel like you'll never find it all.
Kenku signs the contract.
Cellphone Man: "Thank you. Let's see... you have... 17 coins... Activation charge."
Metal Man (GM): *ZONK* -10 coins to Kenku.
Cellphone Man: "There, you're good for... a short while."
Metal Man (GM): Then, before you say any more, you go to... what was the third store again? Aribar pops out near Mario and Luigi's house. You appear at a store all right! ...This can't possibly be right.
Natalie: *Blink* "The hell are we?"
Metal Man (GM): There's a big mechanical man with a santa claus beard.
Smithy: "Hello customers. Welcome to my shop!"
Kenku nudges to Natalie.
Metal Man (GM): ...What, Smithy isn't evil? What world is this? The Twilight Zone???
Aribar walks up to the front door of Mario's pad and knocks on it.
Natalie: "Ummm... hi..."
Raena: "Hmmm... Are you sure this is a legitimate shop?"
Kenku: "Hey! I paid 10 gold for this from the Info guy, course its legitimate!"
Raena: "We'll see how legitimate this is." *She unstraps the Digi-Sabre from her waist and shows it to Smithy. * "This sword needs to be restored to its former glory, and its latent magical properties resurfaced."
Smithy: "...This sword is nae magical... it's technological! ...I can restore it... for a price!"
Raena: "Technological? Hmmm..."
Natalie: "I can see that, coming from the Digital World. How much restoration can you perform with fifty coins?"
Smithy: "Eh... lessee..."
Aribar: "Luigi? Are you home?"
Smithy: "Ach, I'll make 'er a bit more powerful, not a ton though. That okay with yee?"
Luigi: "Uh... yeah!" *Opens the door.*
Natalie: "Sounds fine. And if you do good work, you may get to work on it some more in the future."
Aribar: "Greetings, Luigi. I was wondering if I could borrow some more of your spellbooks."
Smithy: "Ach, yes. That will be... Thirty-five coins! Nae fifty. Would be robbery!"
Natalie: "Okay." *She hands him the proper denominations of coins, while Raena relinquishes the Digi-sabre to allow him to work on it.*
Metal Man (GM): (Will) Spellbooks. I'll be nice since the rest of the restrictions are... harsh.
Aribar: "If I recall your spell collection correctly, may I take Wall, Confusion, Image, and Disarm?"
Luigi: "...Sure!" *He hands 'em to Aribar.* "I hope you can pay for all that... those books like to charge money."
Aribar: "Aye, I should be able to handle it."
Luigi: "Okey dokey!" *He waves, almost happy to be free of the books. Weird.*
Metal Man (GM): Now for Raena. The Digi saber now deals 23 damage instead of 18. Whoo. After banging on it it glows a dull color. Special Enchantment: Double damage to holograms/digital entities. Write that down as I remove the 35 coins, Raena/Natalie/etc.
Kenku heads back towards the ship once Natalie finishes her purchase.
Natalie: "One more stop I'd like to make, and that's to a place where I can borrow a Minor Heal book."
Digifanatic: *Fastforward to everyone back at the ship?*
Kenku: "Oh, the hospital on Angel Island? Shouldn't be a serious problem. I think we need to make one or two stops before although."
Metal Man (GM): Yeah, you're back at the ship. One sec, you may fly to Angel Island. Or wherever.
Natalie: "That's fine with me."
Digifanatic: *Angel Island, I suppose* "Nice to see Raena got her sword figured out."
Deloth: "Plus, now, I need to swing over to the mask salesman again. Yeah, mind if I check that blade out, Rae?"
Digifanatic: *We'll make that C, Termina, Regis--er, Metal Man. Final answer.*
Raena is now looking at the silvery katana blade. Looking at Deloth, she nods, resheathing the katana before handing it over. "It's a sacred Digital World artifact, as old as the Digital World itself. The last time it was used was to defeat a rogue member of my species who had mustered the forces of darkness together under one banner."
Deloth: "Mmm. Well, I don't know much about the Digital World, but I can tell that this blade's got some excellent craftsmanship on it. Edge isn't completely honed, but it's still sharp enough to cut the hair off of your arm, and the joins are really solid. Take care of this and it'll last you for years on end, I bet." *He hands the katana back to Raena.*
Raena: "It should." *She takes it and puts it back on.*
Deloth: "Kinda reminds me of my old homeworld blade. That thing's lasted FOREVER."
Metal Man (GM): You land at the observatory.
Digifanatic: "Alright, Deloth..."
Deloth hops out and heads to the Happy Mask Salesman.
Kenku follows Del.
Aribar follows Deloth.
Digifanatic: *Oh why not, he follows.*
Mask Salesman: "Sooo... you sold the mask... for no profit... good for you!!!" *He claps.*
Kenku: "Hey Del, if he offers two Masks, or asks about another to sell, I have an idea." *He turns to the Mask Salesman* "Oh sorry... didn't see you come up"
Deloth hands the fifty coins to the Salesman. "Can I get a mask of my true form, now?"
Mask Salesman: "Yes... for a price." *He snaps his fingers.* "My magic is fuelled by coins. How many do you have?"
Deloth: "Now, wait a minute, I sold your mask... *Sigh* 105."
Mask Salesman: "100 coins will give you a mask, unless you want to sell another of my masks for 50 coins instead."
Kenku: "I might be able to sell you a couple... I have an idea."
Mask Salesman: "This will be a useful mask, I grant to you."
Deloth: "Could I get a mask and keep selling them too?"
Mask Salesman: "Yes, of course!"
Deloth: *Shrugging* "I'll do that, then. Selling the first one wasn't too hard."
Natalie: "If anyone has any ideas on how we can sell this Justice mask... I'm all ears. I'm really stumped on it."
Deloth: "Courthouse?"
Kenku: "What about talking to GUN or some other police force?"
Mask Salesman: "For selling a mask..." *He flips a finger and summons a new one.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a face with a pickaxe stabbed into it.
Mask Salesman: "The cursed Miner."
Deloth: "...What, getting mauled by mining implements?"
Mask Salesman: "The wearer will be granted great abilities at mining... at a cost of their health... ...and perhaps sanity, if they are too greedy."
Digifanatic: "Wario..."
Deloth: "...welp. I did ask, so I'll try to sell this one too." *Takes it.*
Digifanatic: "It would be entertaining to see him go a bit mad..."
Mask Salesman: "So... do you want the mask for you now or later? The hundred coin one, of course..."
Kenku: "Umm... may I have one to sell, or maybe suggest one?"
Aribar: "...That would be a very useful mask."
Deloth: "Now, please."
Aribar: "Deloth, we will need to keep tabs on whoever we give this mask to. I will require their services at a later date."
Metal Man (GM): He takes the 100 coins...
Mask Salesman: "Now... this!" *Deloth would feel like he is melting and on fire.*
Deloth: "Wha--GAAAAAAH!" *He crumples to his knees, screaming.*
Metal Man (GM): Deloth's face falls off. ...He is then restored to his SSQ 1 appearance: Half dragon. The Cubi or whatever it is is now in mask form.
Digifanatic: "Oh wow..."
Aribar: "Deloth, are you okay?!"
Deloth: *Gasp, wheeze...* "Oh, man... that was intense..."
Mask Salesman: "Of course, your abilities are... changed... due to your shift in form. But I'm sure you'll find them useful."
Deloth takes his new mask, standing up slowly and looking himself over.
Kenku: "Wow... thats really cool" *he says before looking back to the Salesman.*
Digifanatic: .oO(Hello? This still work?)
Deloth: *Unaware.*
Digifanatic: "Oh yeah, guess your whole system did change."
Deloth: "Huh..." *He tries slipping the mask back on.*
Metal Man (GM): Devour is replaced with: Flamethrower. Rate 1, 25 damage, INT + 2. Sets things on fire; added accuracy based on how effectively you describe aiming the attack.
Dragoshi: "...Huh."
Metal Man (GM): When in Half-dragon form of course. *FLIP* More burning horribleness and Deloth is back to normal. Although from now on he has this strange awareness that he can take his face off and morph back and forth. Using the mask is a Rate 1 option. There may be more bonuses from it which will become evident over time.
Digifanatic: .oO(Got it back now?)
Deloth: "...Wow. This is amazing. Yeah, I can hear you now, Digi."
Aribar: "It looks painful."
Digifanatic: "Ah, there we go."
Mask Salesman: "My powers are the reason I survive the end of worlds and go as I please."
Dragoshi: "Well, that makes a lot of sense."
Deloth: "Is there any chance that you could make one of these without the pain?"
Mask Salesman: "Of course, not all of you look like you would want or need such a dire mask. Impossible. Anything which is painless... cannot transform the wearer."
Kenku: "Umm... could I possibly get a mask to sell?"
Mask Salesman: "...I only give out five at a time to you as a group. To minimize loss. Obtain one of the pre-existing one from your friends."
Kenku's ears droop. "I see."
Natalie: "Hey... I got an idea... Maybe a mask can overcome the not-being-able-to-Digivolve here..."
Raena: "You're possibly right. But until we sell the Justice mask, we will have to wait."
Kenku looks to Natalie "May I have the next one if I help you sell Justice?"
Mask Salesman: "I'm sure they will share. If nothing else..." *He points to Deloth.* "He can give his credit to you if he sells the mask I just gave him."
Natalie blinks, then giggles and nods. "Sure, be my guest!"
Mask Salesman: "Ah, yes... a mask CAN do that..."
Deloth: "So... I have a question. Can others use this mask?"
Mask Salesman: "Yes."
Deloth: "..."
Mask Salesman: "Of course, as long as you hold it, it will only work for you. It would require some magic to remove that effect."
Deloth: "And if I hand it off to someone else?"
Mask Salesman: "Willingly? They can use it."
Deloth: *Taking off the mask* "I elect you, Digi."
Digifanatic: "Huuuh? You want me to put it on?"
Deloth: *Grinning* "Sure. I want to see what happens."
Aribar: "The world isn't ready for one Deloth, let alone two."
Kenku looks intrigued by this.
Mask Salesman: "...Ah, the strangeness of being able to trade faces." *He chuckles.*
Deloth: "Trading faces. Sounds like some kind of screwy TV show."
Dragoshi: "That it does."
Digifanatic braces himself for a few seconds and puts it on... he's never really transformed before, unless you count Dark World from SSQ 1. :P
Metal Man (GM): Digi morphs into a Cubi-ized version of himself. What that is I'm not quite sure because my memory was stolen out of a toaster. It is also painful because. Painful mask is painful.
Digifanatic: "Huh... how do I look?"
Kenku sees Digi become a furred two winged being. "Heh... not too bad."
Metal Man (GM): He gains the ability to shapeshift, ignore air, etc... ...which Deloth loses whenever he takes the mask off.
Deloth: "'Interesting' is probably the best word."
Metal Man (GM): Yeah. The mask represents this weird transformation that occurred between SSQ 1 and SSQ 2.
Deloth: "Good kind of interesting, though."
Metal Man (GM): As the Mask guy can isolate things like that.
Digifanatic: .oO(Okay, let's see if this works... send me something, Del.)
Aribar: "Will you be possessed by crazy people like Deloth was? Hm..."
Metal Man (GM): Of course Digi now hears other people's thoughts while Deloth can't.
Deloth: .oO(The number I'm thinking of is one thousand, two hundred and sixty... seven.)
Raena: .oO(Peter piper picked a pack of pickled peppers.)
Digifanatic: "Hmm...1267? Peter Piper? Am I not going insane?"
Deloth: "You got it."
Mask Salesman: .oO(*Hideous disco music*)
Digifanatic: "Cool." *Snickers a few times* "Yeah, I see the Catch 22 in this."
Deloth: "...Is he still playing the music?"
Metal Man (GM): Yes.
Digifanatic: "Uh, yeah... you want it back now?"
Mask Salesman: "My anti-mindreading ward is kept on all the time. I have no clue what other world-spanning people might haunt me with it."
Deloth: "Yeah, okay. Hand it over, please."
Digifanatic: "Alright." *Peels the mask off and hands it back to Deloth.*
Mask Salesman: "Some secrets are best left hidden..." *He looks between Digi and Deloth.*
Metal Man (GM): The mask is taken off after some pulling and more painful transformation.
Deloth: "...What?" *Takes the mask back.*
Mask Salesman: "Nothing. The secrets of my trade is all."
Digifanatic: "I guess once you get past the strange feeling of the actual shift, it's not too bad."
Mask Salesman: "It's very dangerous in the wrong hands... my trade, that is."
Digifanatic: "It did feel quite... odd to say the least."
Deloth: "I can see why." *Keeps the mask off, for now.*
Mask Salesman: "I know what to avoid however. After the destruction of the world the Fierce Deity came from."
Metal Man (GM): Deloth would be rather hungry now.
Kenku: "Understandable... So... off to Angel Island?"
Digifanatic: "I think so."
Deloth: "...Can we pick up some lunch there? Actually, no, never mind."
Digifanatic: "Maybe, unless you just wan--yeah, was gonna say."
Kenku: "Lunch will probably require a trip back to HQ... or out to Dreamland."
Deloth just puts the mask back on. There, his problem is solved.
Digifanatic: "Yeah, there you go." *Back to the ship.*
Metal Man (GM): That weird anecdote complete... where to next?
Digifanatic: *Angel Island* "By the way Aribar, have you ever considered writing your own books for us?"
Kenku walks back to the ship, asking Digi as he does. "Hey Digi, you have the number for that advertising bureau?"
Deloth gets on. "So. Now I've pretty much reached the apex of weirdness now that I can pull my own face off and give it to somebody else. ...There's a Japanese horror flick in that, somewhere."
Natalie: "Alright, so where's this hospital? And does Angel Island have any peacekeeping forces or police forces?"
Digifanatic: "Hang on..." *Goes to dig out the phone book and hands it to Kenku.*
Kenku: "I would pick up the book and then check with GUN or something." *He takes the phone book and calls the Central City Ad Bureau midflight.*
Aribar: "Angel Island is the home of the Echidnas, who seem to be a fierce race of capable warriors and mages."
Digifanatic: "Much like it is rather tedious flying out for healing items and the like all the time, I understand the others' rather consistent needs for these books and I imagine it just as helpful if you were able to memorize enough from these books to let us keep copies. Either that, or just give us the Cliff's Notes..."
Natalie Raena looks around, and then slips on the Mask of Justice, looking towards the group.
Ad Person: "Hi! We're the ad bureau TO call! Whatcha want?"
Metal Man (GM): Raena would see nothing egregiously unjust, and the mask seems to block out normal sight, waiting for something to judge.
Kenku: *Phone* "Hi, my name is William Swiftfoot, and I was wondering if I could probably get your services in advertising a fight event at our stadium on the Isle."
Digifanatic: .oO(Wonder where he got Kenku from that name... probably some symbolic meaning.)
Raena: "Hmmm..." *She takes the mask off, and hands it back to Natalie.*
Ad Person: "Ah... yes... where do you want the ads? Billboards? Television? Which cities? We only have the Mobius area, and a small portion of the Robotnikland market."
Kenku: "That's all I'm looking for. Well... I'm basically looking for enough advertising to interest a small group of people for this first event, so flyers and paper ads may be all I need."
Ad Person: "Okay... that'll be... 100 coins for the Mobius area, if you have that on you just drop by our office and we'll be able to help you."
Metal Man (GM): While we're waiting... Besides Raena, any more errands? Ah. The ship reaches Angel Island while Kenku is, conveniently, on the phone. It lands near the hospital. Raena/Natalie can borrow ye olde book if she pleases.
Natalie Natalie heads in to borrow the book of Minor Heal, while wondering who here might be most interested in the Justice Mask.
Kenku: "Ok... I will do that."
Metal Man (GM): Natalie borrows the Minor Heal (after a short conversation.) Oddly, there is no courthouse here.
Aribar would exit the ship as well. One may wonder what the mage may want on Angel Island. It couldn't possibly be spellbooks, could it? Yes. Yes it could. He asks some random Echidna if they've ever managed to restock their library.
Ad Person: "See you at (coordinates in Capital City)." *Click.*
Echidna: "Uhhh... not yet, but come back tomorrow-ish. The paint hasn't dried yet."
Deloth just sits and waits for Ari and Natalie to return.
Digifanatic: *Gets his idea again* "Hmm... Natalie, while you're studying the book, write down some notes on the spell and hand them to me or one of the other Questers who'll still be hanging around when we return. Then test it on one of your cards while we have the notes. Do try to make sure they're thorough enough so that someone who hasn't read the book would understand it relatively, though."
Kenku jots down the directions and then goes to see the others. Which once he finds he says "Ok... We need 100 coins for the ad agency."
Metal Man (GM): Indeed. Split up, 100 coins would be rather affordable.
Digifanatic: "I've got plenty."
Aribar: "Hm. I suppose I should make my request more clear, just so there is no miscommunication. This is a library of spellbooks we're talking about, correct?"
Natalie: "Alright." *She nods. * "Now... do the Echidnas have a peacekeeping force that might be interested in this mask?"
Echidna2: "Uh... what does it do?"
Natalie: "Well, it allows you to perceive injustice, those who have been unjust and it'll let you know the proper punishment for them. While you're using it, though, it'll make you blind, but that'll hardly be a problem when you can see what's righteous and what isn't right? My asking price is 100 coins, but I can go lower..."
Echidna2: "...Ehhh... the King settles all matters. What he says goes, so you'd probably best look elsewhere for that."
Natalie: "Hmmm... would the King be able to have an audience today?"
Echidna2: "Mmmm..." *He looks through a calendar.* "Tomorrow would be best. The grand library shall be opened and he will be there. Busy overseeing construction, you know." *He points to a gold-coated greek palace-like structure.*
Natalie: "Alright. Thank you, tomorrow it is." *She then returns to the ship.*
Aribar: "Ah. Thank you, sir." *He goes back to the ship.*
Digifanatic: *Heads back with them, I guess* "Looks like we're heading back to the Stadium now..."
Metal Man (GM): They both return to the ship. Looks like tomorrow will be a big time to be at the Echidna place.
Deloth: "Alright. I'm pleased with *My* purchase."
Metal Man (GM): So then, anything else? Or shall we end ze session with a trip to HQ? Sooo to HQ you go then. Oh, right... The ad thingy. Kenku: You're the last task left. Do your thing. Go ahead, Aribar. Not really, Kenku, Digi offered to help pay for the ads.
Digifanatic: "Okay, Kenku, how much you need?"
Natalie: "I'm good for fifteen, sure why not?"
Aribar: "I could add ten or twenty coins..."
Digifanatic: "Okay, so 80 to go... I can take any number between 1 and 80 depending on what everyone else is willing to chip in."
Deloth: "I've got five left. ...Yeah, I know, big help."
Kenku: "Hey, Any help is good."
Deloth hands his five coins to Kenku. "...Hey, Raena, since you're already a fox, I wonder what this mask would do to you."
Digifanatic: "I'll cover the 50 I got last trip for now... So I know we're almost there..."
Metal Man (GM): Okay, so let's see... -4 coins from Ari. Yes. What's the composition of the money for the ad budget? I.E. how much from who?
Kenku picks up the required coinage and heads for the office. "Umm... if someone is helping with planning, you probably want to come along..."
Digifanatic: "I can help." *Follows.*
Deloth: "I'll just wait."
Ad Person: "Hello! You here for some ads?"
Digifanatic: "Yes, we are."
Kenku: "Yes, I called you guys earlier about the fight ads."
Ad Person: "Okay... where is this fight... and when?"
Digifanatic: "It's at a stadium we have built in with our HQ in Westopolis."
Kenku nods to what Digi said "The when will be... four days from now. We are still setting up times with the fighters, but we plan to have several fights plus possibly a demonstration of the megaton punch."
Ad Person: "Don't worry, I'll handle the rest. Just pay the 100 coins up front and I'll spread the news."
Kenku does so.
Digifanatic: "And if you need to know who is fighting, so you can perhaps do some research... There will be representatives of the sparring organizations of Megaton and Glitzville. Megaton is located in Dreamland, Glitzville the Mushroom Kingdom."
Ad Person: "Yeah, I'll check it out." *He nods.* "I'll get on it right now." *He runs off to do that.*
Kenku nods and turns back to the ship.
Digifanatic: *Yeah, back to the ship.* "A productive day, actually. I like that..."
Deloth: "I'm not sure whether I should keep wearing this mask or take it off..."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... take it off and find whatever you want to in the fridge. Just make sure to keep enough for the rest of us."
Deloth: *Nods, grits his teeth, and pulls the mask off again.* "Gngh... that hurts like hell... ...Right. Food."
Kenku: "Hmmm... may I try it?"
Deloth: *BTW, for future reference, his voice changes between Cubi and dragon... as a dragon, it's a bit deeper and more gravelly.* "Go for it." *Hands the mask to Kenku and heads to the fridge to grab a meal.*
Digifanatic: "Just remember, it hurts a lot for a few seconds but after that it's not too bad."
Kenku takes his shirt off and puts the mask on, showing a bit a pain to his face. "Yerk..." he says before he looks at himself. "Heh... this is so weird..."
Deloth comes back with a large sandwich, chowing down. "Huh. Not bad."
Digifanatic: "We're gonna have too much with this thing, I swear..."
Kenku says "thanks" before thinking "Hey Del... how do you shapeshift?"
Deloth: "Oh, yeah, that's one of the reasons why I got it in the first place."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, it's not one of those turn into a figure of light which changes shape type transformations..."
Deloth: "...It's kind of hard to describe. You kind of have to visualize the person, then imagine everything moving into place to mimic them. Your body should follow along." *He takes another enormous bite of sandwich.*
Digifanatic: "Ah, I see..."
Kenku thinks for a minute, and then closes his eyes and focuses. Del and Digi watches him shrink down a large bit, and a few moments later, is a normal house cat. He smiles looking upward.
Digifanatic: "Well then."
Deloth: "...Yep."
Digifanatic: "Out of curiosity, can you still speak? Besides 'meow'?"
Deloth: "I'd say so, as long as he didn't shift his vocal cords or lungs too much." *Finishes the last few bites of his sammich.*
Kenku tries to say something, but it comes out a "Meow". He drops his head in a bit of a "DOH!"
Deloth: "...Which, apparently, he did."
Digifanatic: "Aww... you know, I think Deloth can still use his own voice when he shifts, right?"
Deloth: "Yep." *Yawns.*
Digifanatic: "Try using your normal voice, Rinith. Or at least your masked form voice."
Kenku returns to normal size before peeling the mask off like "The Mask" "Ow... well... that was fun... but I can't really have it going to my head"
Digifanatic: "Yeah..."
Kenku: "Plus... I have a mask I need to work for... probably not a much of a tool as that one, but still."
Deloth: "...You're right, Digi. We ARE going to have fun with this mask." *He takes the mask back from Kenku.*
Digifanatic: "Ah... well, if you somehow ever wind up on Chorrus again, you will never to have to tell Alexia the truth about what happened to you when we first landed here. You can just say you got this really cool mask, demonstrate it, and you'll never worry about it again."
Deloth: "Deception. I like it."
Digifanatic: "Are you liberated now?"
Deloth: "Yes. So liberated that I'm going to go take a nap."
Digifanatic: "There ya go!"
Deloth: "I know, I'm living life on the wild side now. Wake me if we have to leave again."
Digifanatic: "Hehe, alright."
Deloth heads up into his room, puts the mask away, and falls asleep.
Kenku: "Its been a long day... Im going to call it a day too... later all!" *Kenku says as he heads to his sleeping quarters.*
Digifanatic: "No problem." .oO(I like being the pilot. This is kinda neat.)
Metal Man (GM): Recap The Questers called practically every number in the phonebook, setting up a massive stadium match with Megaton Punch and Glitzville and, apparently, some Questers, to occur a week from today.
Aribar has been very busy in the stadium's library; he finally has a decent selection of books to read from! Too bad they're the disappearing-when-finished kind of books.
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are at HQ. As is Panzer.
Julian Sawyer's currently coordinating concession crews for the big day. Can't have the public going hungry.
Digifanatic is back in the library himself, considering Aribar for the suggestions he gave Natalie last time...
Kenku is out in the arena thinking about fight rules.
Digifanatic: "So, basically, what I was thinking about is at least find some spare paper and take some notes from these books, and store the notes somewhere, or just let one of us hold them."
Natalie is in the main room growling as she pours over the Minor Heal book she got. "Ugh... this is a bit much for me..."
Rinith: *is training out in the main arena alone.*
Panzer looks at what they're doing, shakes her head, then goes to grab the mail for some reason.
Kenku looks over to Rinith. "Yo... you wanna spar a little?"
Digifanatic: "The idea being that even if the books go back to wherever, maybe the notes won't and we'll at least have some sort of starter reference..." *He looks for any recent newspapers in the library, meanwhile...*
Rinith: "Spar? I guess, havent fought someone who uses your style in a while."
Aribar leans back in his chair and mulls it over for a moment before responding. "I believe that copying the spellbooks could potentially be successful, given a printing press and other needed items. However, I think the magic in the books is what allows one to 'learn' a spell."
Digifanatic: "Yeah, I was suspecting that as well, but how else are we going to fill the shelves?"
Metal Man (GM): The mail is filled with stuff. It appears the Questers put their info out into the world somehow. Junk mail of many kinds sits there. That and a single shiny postcard from... 'Glitzville.'
Digifanatic: "It's not like we join the group stacked with documents from each of our planets and all."
Kenku smiles and steps back and into a ready stance. "Always good to learn by doing."
Aribar: "I've been researching these spellbooks whenever I've had the chance, and I think that it is possible to ultimately copy them. However, I know it will still be weeks, if not months before I make any decent breakthroughs in the research."
Digifanatic: "Ahh... I was wondering if you had considered that. Fact, I might have asked you about that a bit back..."
Dragoshi: *Takes the mail, sorts through all the junk, and when he's done he goes to read the shiny postcard.* :V
Aribar: "Of course, even if I do crack the code to copy the books, the material and magical costs for duplicating each book must be factored in."
Rinith: *Nods, and readies his defencive like duel sworded stance, the short blade in his left hand held for parrying and the right poised for attack.*
Raena: "...Would you two mind if I joined you after this bout? I need to get some practice with the improved Digi-Sabre."
Digifanatic: "Hmm... nothing interesting in the papers, I think. I'm heading back out..." *Walks back to the main area* "Where's the mail?"
Kenku and Rinith go through a couple quick bouts, sometimes deflecting blows, sometimes taking hits. After stopping a resizing a few times, Kenku stops and bows, before looking to Raena. "I'm done if you want to spar. By the way, if we have a ring out spot, should it be marked by something on the line, or should I think about paint."
Dragoshi: *Is now reading the shiny postcard from 'Glitzville'*
Digifanatic: *Notices the postcard* "Oh, nice..."
Natalie Raena nods as she drops low into a battle stance, her hand hovering just over the hilt of the katana.
Julian Sawyer: "Y-nah, that ain't gonna work, we don't got a kitchen that big." *Julian walks into the kitchen/eating/R&R area where Dragoshi and Digi ended up with the mail, conversing with someone on a stadium-Phone. They're wireless!* "Look, I don't care what yo' charts say, I don't think whole roasted chickens are gonna be a big seller. Hol' up." *Puts hand over mouthpiece when he spots the pair with a postcard.* "What's it say?"
Metal Man (GM): Panzer takes the postcard and hands it off to Julian, mouthing something about "'Freaks and their friends'"
Rinith: *though a bit tired, readies to spar with Raena to.*
Metal Man (GM): It's a shiny postcard from Glitzville. It has Macho Grubba's own stamp on it.
Julian Sawyer gains: Postcard! And he reads it out loud to the benefit of the other two.
Metal Man (GM): It says very simply. 'If you think your people can win against ours, you think wrong. We'll show you who's da best. Heck, we may offer to buy your little stadium out if you have any troubles... no pressure.' - Da Macho Grubba
Dragoshi: *Just takes a seat and listens.*
Digifanatic: "Nah, we need this Stadium. Can't live in a ship that's prone to being ambushed half the time. I don't know what kinda guys Grubba would invite in here."
Julian Sawyer: "-no pressure' yeah yeah, whatever." *Rips it in half and puts it back on the table, then goes back to his phone conversation, wandering out of the room again* "You ever thought about cuttin' down on portion si-" *Out of earshot.*
Digifanatic takes a look at the rest of the mail...
Metal Man (GM): Junk.
Aribar then remember something.
Metal Man (GM): Yep. "Become rich tomorrow!" "Please help me transfer 10 billion coins." "Make your shoe size 10 times bigger!"
Aribar gets up and takes out his radio, calling Digi. "Ian, where are you?"
Digifanatic: *Puts the junk over in the paper bin* "I'm in the common room." .oO(Aribar? Calling me Ian? Odd.) "I can walk back to the library if it's more convenient."
Aribar: "Do we have any reploid damsels in distress to rescue? Any mail asking for help? Any phone calls?" *He would be running to the common room now.*
Digifanatic: *R* "Uhhh, nooo, besides Machu Grubba wanting to..." *Sees Aribar run in and shuts off his radio* "Grubba was considering buying out the Stadium but Julian and I gave that idea an emphatic no."
Metal Man (GM): It has a regular floor, almost... sorta padded.
Aribar: "Then I would like to commandeer the ship for an afternoon if we have no missions. Unfortunately, if I went alone, it'd probably crash into the middle of the sea."
Metal Man (GM): There is a ring. It just happens to have a padded floor. No holo machine.
Panzer handed off the card apparently, goes back to the garage and locks herself in there, working on stuff.
Digifanatic: "Oh, where would you like to go?"
Aribar: "Angel Island. Their spellbook library is having a grand opening."
Digifanatic: "Ah yes... and N&R were considering selling their mask."
Metal Man (GM): There is a ring which would serve as an out of bound if you chose.
Natalie: "Yeah... that'd be good to go to."
Metal Man (GM): The garage is home to some bikes, and the mystery ship that flew in from nowhere. That blue one. It's a little small but sitting around.
Digifanatic: "Presume Raena will be fine on her own?"
Rinith: *Doesn't make the first move...*
Metal Man (GM): The one from a while ago, Kenku. When your ship asploded.
Julian Sawyer: *How small?*
Metal Man (GM): The mystery ship is about 1/2 the size of the normal one. It's in the garage, with Panzer.
Natalie: "She'll be fine until I call her back. After all, what can happen here?" *Meanwhile, Rae suddenly runs at Rinith, grasping the hilt of her sword and drawing it, slashing in one smooth stroke. She then whirls around, adding momentum to her next swing.*
Digifanatic: "Point taken. Well, let them spar, we can take of this on our own." *Walks to the ship.*
Kenku is watching the bout at the moment.
Aribar heads towards the ship.
Kenku catches Ari and Digi head to the ship and walks in that direction. "Hey guys, what's shakin?"
Metal Man (GM): Yes, Julian, the bikes can cross water. Digi and... Aribar? walk to the main ship.
Digifanatic: "Oh, I was going to fly them over to Angel Island. There's the library Aribar wants to check out, and Natalie needs to sell her mask."
Natalie blinks, then decides to book it towards the ship.
Kenku: "Ah ok. Hmm... I might as well tag along... can't think of much else to do right now"
Digifanatic: "Alright, there's room."
Kenku gets in, and sits down in the weapons seat, just in case.
Rinith: *dodges the first, but when he tries to parry the second blow, his arm gets cut.*
Digifanatic: *Heads in and takes the helm.*
Rinith: *O* "Don't hold back, I can heal us after this"
Panzer pokes her head out of the garage. "Anyone want to go with me on a mission?"
Kenku: "What sort of mission Panzer?"
Raena: "I never intended to." *She says, taking a step back and holding the sword in front of her.*
Metal Man (GM): Panzer's voice... magically carries to where Kenku is. I won't argue. Gooo magic!
Panzer: "Payback for the ship I have. Sort of a scavenger mission."
Julian Sawyer: "Yeah... yeah. Good, see you then." *Julian managed to wander back to wherever the hell everyone else is at the end of his conversation, which he ends by hanging up the phone. Fancy that!* "What's up?"
Kenku: "Hmm... I think I'll go check that out actually guys."
Panzer: "Sort of a 'Keep what you find' Thing."
Kenku: "Later!" *Steps off and walks towards the garage.*
Panzer: "And some good training."
Rinith: *makes a quick duel strike with both blades before falling back in to a defensive stance.*
Panzer: "Find something that is decent enough to function and I'll fix it up for you if I can."
Julian Sawyer: *Shrugs* "Nothin' else to do. Where you wanna go?"
Digifanatic: "Well, Panzer and Kenku want to do a scavenger hunt, I guess is the best way to put it, Aribar and Natalie want Angel Island."
Kenku says as he arrives in the garage. "Cool, need to learn some tinkering skills anyway."
Panzer: "Alright. Did anyone else want to go, or are they going to find spells... Again..."
Raena quickly slides back from the blows, deflecting away the longer of the two blades if they're mismatched.
Rinith: *Strikes!* "Perhaps we should follow them? continue the fight on the terbulince of the ship?"
Kenku: "Supposedly there is a Library opening on Angel Island, and well you know Ari. Dunno what Rinith and Raena plan to do."
Julian Sawyer: "Bitches always be off findin' spells." *Waves hand dismissively* "Ain't got a use for it. Where are we headin', Panz?"
Raena growls softly, taking a cut across the shoulder. "Perhaps, but I may be recalled by Natalie at any point, so..."
Panzer: "We're going to a crashed RepliForce ship."
Rinith: *nods, and quickly runs to the ship, swords still ready for the duel.*
Panzer: "I've been asked to collect some of the drones there. I've also been given clearance to haul off whatever else I want."
Julian Sawyer: "Sounds easy enough. We got any intel on it?"
Panzer: "Minimal enemy activity, minus some rogue drones. I've been fortunate upon receiving some coding that will shut them down without having to damage them."
Metal Man (GM): Whenever you think 'Can I hop in' Just hop in.
Panzer: "It can be done wirelessly by me. The rest shouldn't be much trouble at all."
Julian Sawyer: "So what're we waitin' for?"
Metal Man (GM): Seriously. Worst that can happen is you're too late and I go "Okay, but no EXP since this is the last 10 seconds.'" Just for future info.
Panzer: "See if anyone else wants to do something other than fuck around in a library."
Metal Man (GM): I'm multitasking so I may be off. Just prod me with what you're doing. I can't GM every little bit at once, so I'll be a teensy bit hands off.
Rinith: *makes it to the garage?*
Digifanatic: *Sees Deloth hop in a bit later... half dragon?*
Deloth: *Yep. Boy howdy what a change.*
Digifanatic: "I see you liked the idea of sleeping again."
Deloth: "I missed dreaming. What're you doing?"
Digifanatic: "We're going to Angel Island. Spells, mask 'n' stuff."
Deloth: "Ah. That reminds me, I need to try and pawn this miner's mask off onto someone."
Digifanatic: "So again, they needed a chaffeur. But it'll be nice to see the library opening. Let's hit it." *Takes off towards Angel Island.*
Rinith: *gets on the ship with hopefuly Rae after so they can continue training* "Mind if I come to?"
Digifanatic: "Yeah, you two are fine... sorry about that."
Kenku: "Well... looks like its us three... shall we go?"
Julian Sawyer: "...Looks like it's just us. I'll fly."
Kenku boards the blue ship.
Panzer: "The ship is entrusted to me. Are you a certified pilot, Julian?"
Julian Sawyer: "I ain't certified, but I can take care'a myself. 'Less you wanna fly it, Panz."
Metal Man (GM): Okay, lessee... name me the groups, and who's on each side.
Kenku: *Salvage Mission: Julian, Panzer, Kenku. Book Viewing: Everyone else.*
Panzer: "I'll fly it, then. I'm more familiar with reploidic equipment, load up, also, grab whatever gear you want from my garage to take. There will be some sectors of the base that we can't get into, so if I tell you not to get near it, please listen."
Kenku: "Think a bike would fit?"
Panzer: "What would you want it for?"
Julian Sawyer: "It's a downed ship, I don't think you're gonna need a bike."
Panzer: "You'll be a bigger, noisier, more threatening target. Unless you just want to ride all the way there."
Digifanatic: *Now I believe he flies it off to Angel Island.*
Kenku: "Alrighty then, never mind."
Julian Sawyer never did get the stats for those claws he picked up. "Lemee go get my bag, first." *Julian heads to his room and grabs his equipment bag before heading back to the garage... what's in there for the taking, anyway?*
Raena decides to move down to the cargo hold where they won't bother anyone. "Ready, then, Rinith?"
Kenku makes sure he has his equipment he bought and finds himself a seat.
Digifanatic: *Muttering* "Deloth, put on your mask for a minute..."
Rinith: *nods, and raises his sword in continuation of his defend move used last turn.*
Deloth: "Why?"
Digifanatic: "You'll hear."
Panzer waits for Julian to grab his things and load up, then pilots the ship out of the base, wirelessly closing the garage door, heading off for the site in question.
Deloth blinks, shrugs, and slips on the 'Cubi mask.
Digifanatic: .oO(Hmm... should I do a few silly things with this ship? Like jerk it up about 10 feet?)
Natalie: *Once he's ready, she assaults him again, suddenly blinking right into his face and flipping forwards with an axe kick, which was immediately followed with a Digi-sabre slash.*
Deloth: "Digi, can't we have ONE relatively peaceful day?"
Metal Man (GM): Okay... this will... hurt my brain... ...whateeeeveeeer!
Digifanatic: "Yeah, alright fine... then again, Raena would have make a kebab out of me... You may take the mask back off."
Julian Sawyer: *What is there available in the garage to grab?*
Metal Man (GM): Oh, and I assume Raena and someone are fighting while the others do stuff? Just bikes and the mystery ship and... ...well, you wouldn't want to grab Panzer's robots.
Deloth pulls it back off, muttering under his breath as he does so. "SsssSSSSSON of a bitch that still stings."
Julian Sawyer: *Yeah, into the ship then.*
Metal Man (GM): Anyway, people who are headed towards the Island: You ready to take off?
Rinith: *dodges that kick!*
Panzer: "Ok. I'll load a map of the intel I have on the ship's screen to explain a few things to you. Please at least pretend to listen." *She loads the map into the computer, transferring it to the screen and displaying it to them.* "Alright, towards the back of the base is a no-fly zone. My buddy tells me that he couldn't get in that far to gather intel, he suspects something stays back there that is something of a threat."
Rinith: *takes another quick cut, and noticing his defence is not working, he sends a flurry of inacurate but powerful blows at Rae and a normal double slash.*
Panzer: "As for the front half, it's accessible to our smaller group. The back of the first half is the only resistance there more or less, and it's light so no problems there. Probably just drones, maybe some malfunctioning damaged robots."
Metal Man (GM): Okay. The Island people have been flying all this time and arrive there now.
Kenku: "Gotcha... so, watch how far back you go?"
Metal Man (GM): And if this is you, Metal Man logging in the future, I say: Don't even try to split this mess up, that'd just make it more confusing. @_@
Editor's Note: Don't worry, Metal Man GMing in the past, that didn't even cross my mind, mostly because whatever I was doing in your time (manually splitting logs for Season 2/3?) was only because they were happening in different times chronologically. ...Also I can never get used to me addressing myself in the future.
Julian Sawyer: "We got a cut-off point?"
Panzer: "I'll alert you to our position, there are some things there even I'm not crazy enough to fuck with."
Julian Sawyer: "Got it. You know this place betta than I do."
Kenku nods.
Metal Man (GM): Do whatever you think is best... see, because SSQ Squared is something where the players do what they wish... even if it gives me a headache. Especially if it does. Although that's partially why I'm not splitting it up, so you get a feeling for.. ..What can be multitasked and what can't. So while Panzer's group can continue talking we'll do this side with the books, because they want... the books. They land at the island. Aribar and Digi and... whoever's with them. As Panzer's group is about ready to take off. And Raena/Kenku can assign themselves to either group as needed if they're done sparring for now.
Editor's Note: Whoa, more text. Well, what I think is best is to keep going, because even when it gets confusing and my eyes glaze over... I'm the only person who reads most of these anyway. So... yeah.
Aribar heads to the library.
Deloth gets out and looks for the king.
Metal Man (GM): I'll get to the Panzer group after giving the library group a quick idea of what's up. The library people headed into the library. It's all golden and shiny. Walking in... hmmm. It's a large library thing. Filled with lotsa books.
Digifanatic looks to see if there's some reception or whatnot going on.
Aribar would look for a librarian or attendant to ask where their spellbooks are.
Metal Man (GM): You see a librarian. A white echidna, just like all the others.
Echidna: "Hello. This is the Great Echidna library."
Metal Man (GM): Meanwhile, the people going to the base would be flying towards their objective.. ..It's a large, former Repliforce Air base. In particular, a huge set of R&D buildings. There's a nice airstrip to land on in front of it... ...that looks like a giant monster chewed it up. Good thing your ship is small--there ain't much good landing strip left.
Kenku looks out the window "Hmm... looks like largely an experimentation area... could be rather interesting."
Julian Sawyer: "Thought you said this was a crashed ship..."
Aribar: "Excuse me, but is this a library for magic and spellbooks? If so, may I borrow some?"
Librarian: "Er... yes... but you're not an echidna... and you need special permission to access them after the... incident..."
Aribar: "The incident? What was that?"
Natalie: "Excuse me, I heard the Echidna King was attending the ceremony, may I see him and where is he?"
Panzer lands near, but not too close, to the edge of the strip and piles out, scanning the area and referencing what she saw to the map to make sure it's the dead zone.
Kenku steps out as well.
Julian Sawyer steps out of the ship, equipment bag in tow.
Librarian: "The king? Well... er... ...Do you have an official audience with the king?"
Metal Man (GM): Panzer: It matches all right. There's a nice big canyon right before the actual building entrance.
Julian Sawyer: "So we in the right place?"
Metal Man (GM): Looks like a ship crashed a ways afield made it.
Natalie: "A-ah... n-no. But while looks may be deceiving, I'm a merchant, and I have something that may help him in judicial matters."
Metal Man (GM): The only issue is bridging the gap....
Librarian: "...You'll need to submit a request first." *She (yes, she) gets out paperwork and puts it besides Natalie.* "Just fill it out and we'll mail you the response back in 3 days."
Rinith: "..."
Metal Man (GM): It's about 15 foot gap.
Kenku sigh "I should of gotten cheaper rope..."
Julian Sawyer: "...Take it that means yes. How y'all gonna get across?"
Metal Man (GM): The canyon is 50 feet deep.
Natalie: "Alright... thanks." *She sighs and sits down, starting to fill out the paperwork.*
Metal Man (GM): And filled with MMX style spikes of death. That's right.
Deloth looks over at Natalie. "Don't think we're gonna have that kind of time..."
Metal Man (GM): SPIKES OF DEATH They'll spike you!
Aribar sighs and goes back to the ship. It looks like this was for nothing.
Kenku: "I can probably be carried across... I dunno about Panzer tho."
Panzer: "Well. Back to the ship. Need to land closer." *She goes back, waits for the others to get in, then landed it on the other side of the gap.*
Kenku: "Ok."
Metal Man (GM): Perhaps it was, but as you exit, you notice a sign, Aribar... ...'In two days: Exhibit on the Borne wars.' Perhaps then would be a good time to come back.
Rinith: "How do we get permission to borrow books?"
Julian Sawyer: "...I'll jus' meet you over there." *Julian takes to the sky with his rocket boots and crosses the gap on his own.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian floats across much like X would. Natalie fills out the paperwork as Julian flies over her---just kidding. Natalie finishes the paperwork.
Librarian: "Why, you'd need the king's own permission if you're not from around here, to borrow spellbooks..."
Aribar looks over the sign. The mage wonders exactly how much of an impact Borne had on Mobius as he heads back to the ship.
Kenku turns back to the ship.
Metal Man (GM): The sign gives a hint as to the size of it.
Panzer assums Kenku came along, hops out and scans for enemies, starting inside the building.
Metal Man (GM): 'One of the bloodiest wars in history. The most mad GUN commander ever seen Killed by a random occurrence'
Rinith: *Gives a slight bow and goes off after the others* "Anyone know where Kenku and them went?"
Digifanatic: *Also notices the sign Muttering to Ari* "'Random occurrence'? That was us." *M* "Well, our group anyway."
Metal Man (GM): Quantum Kenku is actually at the Library, much to my confusion. Anyway... Panzer: How do you cross the gap? ...Oh. My bad. The other side is too short/small to land the ship on.
Digifanatic: *A bit louder though still respecting the library* "Should we go back and tell them our side of the story?"
Aribar: "I don't think the Echidnas think too highly of outsiders... I think we should be lucky that we are even allowed to be here."
Metal Man (GM): ...But you could land the ship across the gap.
Aribar: "We could try, but I don't know what good it would do."
Metal Man (GM): The ship is longer than the gap.
Panzer lands the ship across the gap then.
Julian Sawyer: *Waits.* :|
Digifanatic: "Well, if we let them know of our fighting ability, like invite a few people to the exhibition..."
Metal Man (GM): The ship's safe across the gap, it's not that unstable. If it were then the other nearby ships woulda collapsed it.
Digifanatic: "They'll understand our potential."
Metal Man (GM): Anyway, the door sits there, blitzing with electricity.
Kenku Opens the door and makes sure hes not looking out onto the gap.
Panzer goes inside and starts her recon scanning... AGAIN. XD
Kenku sees Panzer hop out and follows.
Metal Man (GM): Can't get inside, the door's shut and blitzing with electricity.
Digifanatic: "I'd hate to be the one not willing to let people know what we're capable of doing..."
Metal Man (GM): But we're getting closer!
Panzer looks for some sort of way around / cut off switch.
Digifanatic: "In fact... warning people of things I could be capable of doing was what got me into the Questers in the first place."
Metal Man (GM): No cutoff switch... search check, Panzer.
Julian Sawyer: *There's gotta be a cable we can cut somewhere...*
Kenku looks to see how the electruck is running.
Metal Man (GM): Panzer finds no direct access... but there's a large crane right near the door. The electricity is running all over the door, like, it has become part of the electrical wire system by virtue of some short-circuit.
Digifanatic: "Honestly, I'd feel rather guilty at least not telling someone in private."
Panzer climbs the crane and checks to see if it's operational.
Metal Man (GM): The crane is holding a large steel girder... ...but the only thing operational is its gripper, which can pneumatically be opened. It itself has no power.
Kenku triest to find where the short circuit may be.
Aribar: "Be my guest, Digi. I'll follow."
Digifanatic: *Walks back to the librarian's desk.*
Rinith: "I'm learning to trust you guys on what you do in this world"
Panzer checks for labels of how much power it takes.
Metal Man (GM): It takes about the same as a large diesel generator would make.
Julian Sawyer looks for an alternate entrance...
Digifanatic: "Hello, ma'am. I noticed the sign for the exhibit when we were getting ready to walk out."
Metal Man (GM): Julian: Ah, search check. No, it's within your capacity, barely.
Librarian: "Er... yes?"
Metal Man (GM): Julian: You stare at the canyon. There IS a severed pipe down there... If you feel dangerous you might be able to go in there.
Digifanatic: *Leans in a bit* "I don't want to say this out loud for now but... we were responsible for that random occurrence on the sign."
Librarian: "Ah... ...come back on the day of the exhibit. Perhaps we can pay you to answer questions then."
Julian Sawyer: "Hmm..." *How much room is in that canyon?*
Panzer pulls out some wires and hooks them into herself, taking a moment to shut down most systems, then pushing her core to redline levels to juice it up, only functioning systems are her arm gyros and her CPU, and her core systems.
Digifanatic: "People like him (Aribar) and I were among those who took down Borne. Trust me, I'm not doing this to have all sorts of swagger or anything. I am simply giving an honest explanation towards the situation."
Metal Man (GM): Julian: It's 15 feet across, but towards the bottom it slopes to about 3 feet. Panzer: The crane starts up. What do you do?
Deloth: "And me."
Kenku hears the crane boot up and looks over, stepping away from the door.
Panzer moves the arm to use the girder as a battering ram.
Librarian: "Yes, I'm sure. We can verify it before you come, don't worry." *She takes a picture of the Library Questers.*
Metal Man (GM): It hits the door. BZZZZTTTTTT. You get shocked, as does the whole crane.
Digifanatic: *Pointing to Natalie* "Well, she wasn't with us at the time, but I'm sure she still may be able to answer some related questions."
Metal Man (GM): 30 damage to Panzer as she's knocked off of the crane.
Rinith: "I was not with them as well."
Metal Man (GM): The crane sits there, now a part of the electrical circuit. Shooting electricity.
Julian Sawyer: "..." *How sharp be those spikes?*
Metal Man (GM): The door is mildly less dangerous but this obviously isn't using enough to de-electrify the door.
Panzer brings her systems back on line after cratering the asphalt. "GOD DAMMIT."
Metal Man (GM): They're lethal death spikes of death.
Julian Sawyer: "You okay, Panz?"
Kenku looks around for something to use as a lightning rod.
Digifanatic: "We cannot confirm our arrival... But we will try to show up if our abilities allow us to."
Metal Man (GM): Kenku: You see metal debris and wires laying around everywhere.
Panzer gets up and walks to the base, testing the thickness of the wall near the door.
Kenku starts collecting the debris and tries to bundle it together like a thick coil.
Julian Sawyer: "Man, if I had Ari here..." *Julian searches for an alternate door again, wary of the spike pit of death.*
Panzer: "We might need to divert more electricity from the door... Good Idea."
Metal Man (GM): Made by people who would have been contemporaneous with Panzer, so it's thick enough Zero could jam his saber all in and still not break through. Search again, Julian. Kenku makes a weird coil thing. As Julian discovers an old 'REPLIFORCE' insignia in the dirt.
Panzer looks for some lengthy large cable.
Kenku throws steps back and throws it towards the side of the door.
Librarian: "Well... we have your phone number. We'll contact you later. Maybe the king will speak to you."
Metal Man (GM): Panzer finds an old ship cable that fell offa something. It's a nice and large cable. Kenku hurls the apparatus into the door. It bounces off, shooting sparks. Then sits there.
Digifanatic: "Oh, that could work out very well for us." *Flashes an 'Okay' sign at Natalie* "Thank you very much."
Kenku checks to see if hes weakened the field.
Panzer takes it, looks for some sort of ground, like some exposed rebar.
Metal Man (GM): Mmm... Key Lime pie... I mean... there's dirt and exposed rebar everywhere. Take it to the fridge, Cranky!
Julian Sawyer: "Yo! Panz! Eletrical shit ain't my thing, but there's a lead pipe down in the pit. Think it'll do anythin'?"
Panzer secures the cable to the rebar, then strips the other end nicely, then throws it against the door, stepping back.
Metal Man (GM): The pipe in the pit IS insulated... you're unsure what kind. The electricity heads into the ground. The door stops blitzing with electricity. It now simply hums ominously.
Julian Sawyer: "...That works too."
Kenku: "Nicely done Panz."
Panzer: "Fucking electricity." *She grumbles and goes to kick the door open.*
Digifanatic: .oO(Wow... it's like I'm literally at that period after I sent myself back...)
Metal Man (GM): The ground is controlling the electricity... ...but the door resists being kicked in. It's a Repliforce door, made to repel Maverick Hunters.
Julian Sawyer: *How thick be said door?*
Metal Man (GM): Easily 2-3 feet. Considering if it were any less X or Zero might just crash through it.
Panzer sighs, crossing her arms and tapping her foot. "It's been a hundred fucking years."
Metal Man (GM): The crane is no longer... electrocuted. It smokes however. The door appears to have partially melted into the surrounding walls from all that electricity.
Digifanatic: *Back to Aribar and Deloth* "It'll be a nice deed, I think..."
Metal Man (GM): Library people: Whatcha doin'?
Panzer is still tapping her foot. She gets a readout on the crane to see if it's safe to use based on it's smoking, if it moves it might buckle.
Aribar: "I suppose so." *To the ship?*
Deloth: "Man, this trip was a bust."
Metal Man (GM): The crane is safe to use now. It has cooled off.
Digifanatic: *Back to the ship, and I presume everybody else as well.*
Julian Sawyer: "You gonna try bustin' it in, now?"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers might notice the ship tracking the other Questers at the Repliforce base., showing them to be rather far off and... doing a mission.
Panzer: "Yep. Had to let the crane cool." *She climbs the crane and powers it up again if need be, backs the arm off, then beats on the door with the girder again.*
Deloth: "So... anything else you want to do, Natalie?"
Natalie: "That's all I really wanted to do here."
Digifanatic: "So, I guess we're heading back to base..."
Metal Man (GM): *SMACK SMASH* The door finally crumples.
Kenku walks through the door, shield first.
Metal Man (GM): Although that knocked the wire loose, the electrical current is only arcing along the doorframe. The first room inside this base consists of flickering lights. It appears electricity has been messed up everywhere.
Julian Sawyer carefully maneuvers so that none of himself or his stuff is touching the doorway as he enters.
Digifanatic: *Takes off with everyone and flies back to HQ unless someone needs to go elsewhere--speak now or forever hold your peace.*
Metal Man (GM): As there's a bunch of dancing wires inside the first room. And downed lights.
Rinith: "We can go and help Panzer and them."
Kenku: "Kinda wish we had Ari now..."
Panzer skitters down the crane and walks inside the building, scanning.
Julian Sawyer: "What we got, Panz?"
Metal Man (GM): Your scan indicates the first major set of drones ahead, after this room full of deathly dancing electrical wires.
Panzer: "Drones. Fucking wires. The electricity is berserk here."
Julian Sawyer: *How low do those wires go?*
Metal Man (GM): The floor. Dancing on the floor. You might even be able to jump over them, but there's about 10 feet of wire territory. The floor, thankfully, is tiled, not metallic.
Deloth: "I think I'm okay, Digi."
Kenku: "Panzer, do you think your boots would stick the to walls?"
Metal Man (GM): There's a bunch of half-hanging, flickering light fixtures.
Digifanatic: "Alright..."
Metal Man (GM): Several of which are also shooting sparks at the floor.
Digifanatic: *FF to HQ.*
Panzer: "My boots aren't anti-grav."
Deloth: "Sorry if I've been kind of quiet. All this mask shifting is making me kind of sore."
Kenku: "Yea, but aren't they magnetic?"
Digifanatic: "I imagine..."
Panzer looks around for some rubber laying about.
Julian Sawyer: *So they're all on the floor?*
Metal Man (GM): The Library group goes to HQ. Nobody's there. Panzer: Search check. Yes, Julian.
Julian Sawyer: *...*
Digifanatic: "Hmm, they're doing a scavenger run..."
Deloth: "Hope they're having fun."
Julian Sawyer: "See y'all on the other side." *Julian jets across the room, avoiding stepping on deadly deadly wires by not being on the floor.*
Digifanatic: "After that part, I wasn't listening much to the rest of things."
Kenku: "If you can Julian, try to cut the wires at the base. Might disable it."
Digifanatic: *Muttering to Deloth* "You think we really need to show up if they haven't buzzed us yet?"
Panzer: "Don't cut them."
Deloth: "Naaah. IF they need us, they'll radio."
Digifanatic: "True... Deloth..."
Panzer: "See the arcs coming from those lights? If it's strong enough to leap like that, it could be lethal to all of us."
Digifanatic: *Sighs, rolls his eyes a bit and turns on his radio* "Hello."
Panzer answers. "What?"
Metal Man (GM): Julian flies over the wires.
Kenku hears the radio and picks it up "Hey Dig, whats up?"
Metal Man (GM): He then encounters a new obstacle. Hanging lamp wires in the way, everywhere. Ath check, Julian. Julian stops just short of crashing into them. He knocks one loose onto the floor. He'd see from his vantage point there's a massive beam holding this mess up, 10 feet above.
Deloth: "For now, I say we just enjoy a quiet day."
Julian Sawyer: "...Yo! There's a beam up here holdin' this shit up. Knock it down?"
Metal Man (GM): Panzer would find some small rubber pieces. Too small to be of much use.
Panzer sighs, starts shooting wires to disconnect them, lamps included.
Digifanatic: "Hmm..." *Goes up to his room to pull out a piece of paper as he walks back to the library area.*
Metal Man (GM): BLAM BLAM BLAM... ...the wires all collapse, leaving a few stragglers arcing around just slightly below forehead level.
Julian Sawyer: "...Or not." *Shrug, continue on.*
Metal Man (GM): Julian hovers at the wires.
Kenku tries to crawl through the room.
Metal Man (GM): *BZAP* *BZZZT* *BZZZAM.*
Julian Sawyer: *Ffffcurse my non-reading.*
Metal Man (GM): 15 damage as he's thrown onto the floor... where he is safe.
Panzer walks on over across the room, trying to gauge the ratio of voltage in the room right now, to see if her wireless had a better chance of working.
Metal Man (GM): Kenku crawls right across, to yet another sealed door.
Kenku starts taking his sword to the door.
Metal Man (GM): Panzer: With those wires in the air, it's hard to hear any radio. Kenku's sword bounces off the solid, unpowered door.
Panzer: "Shh. The drones are near, don't alert them if possible."
Metal Man (GM): There's a panel next to the door which looks like it was shot out.
Digifanatic: *He's just writing a few things down the paper with a pencil, some things lighter than the others...*
Kenku falls over and then sees the panel, and will try to hotwire it.
Deloth: "So, whatcha writing, Digi?"
Metal Man (GM): Kenku sticks the wires together.
Panzer inspects the door, seeing Kenku fuck with it, not inclined to touch it.
Metal Man (GM): But... They have no power. You'll need power from another source.
Digifanatic: "Oh..."
Metal Man (GM): Like... Conveniently hanging wires blitzing just above your head.
Julian Sawyer: "..."
Panzer grabs a powered wire and pulls out some slack a little, holding it but it's insulation so it doesn't bite, then sticks it into the appropriate place on the panel.
Julian Sawyer: *Was going to do that, yeah.*
Deloth: "'Oh' what?"
Metal Man (GM): Ah. You plug it in, but alas. Powering it just makes the door twitch a bit, moving to its locked position. Close, but no dice.
Julian Sawyer follows Panzer's example and plugs another one in.
