Super Smash Quest² - Story - Chapter 8: Blades vs. Explosives
Date: September 27th, October 6th & 10th, 2008.
Metal Man (GM): The group has spoken with the Echidna King. They plan to attempt to get the GUN group in on their representative plan. In exchange, they've gotten yet more aid from the Echidna king; they have used the town's various services and are now loaded with new equipment. The group is to go back to the mainland and try to find a compromise. Right now, the group is walking by the King's palace... Keikyoku has been waiting out in front of the great castle the king lives in, wanting to speak with him.
Guard: "Hey, you. You have some business for the king?"
Keikyoku: "Yes, I would like an audience with his highness."
Guard: "He is busy, but I may be able to get his attention... what do you want to talk about?"
Keikyoku: "Well I want to talk to him about the tax and other aspects of joining."
Guard: *He holds a hand out, referring to the group of Questers.* "But aren't you with them? If you joined us, then you would leave them behind."
Keikyoku: "Well, I'm really just seeking answers... I can't remember where I come from, but I believe I come from Angel Island..."
Guard: "Well, the king does not have the genealogy of our kind in his hands. It was lost in the great GUN attack long ago."
Deloth: "So, did any of you see an armor shop anywhere?"
Keikyoku: "Oh." *he looks depressed.*
Guard: "The armor shop? The King is the only one with an armorer." *He idly knocks his head against the wall.* "We don't use it, except for display. Our skin is tougher than yours..."
Guard: "Anything else we should know?"
Deloth glances up at his headwings, then back at the tentacles. "Ah, well... not like I could shop off the rack anyways."
Aribar looks up from his new spellbook to Del. "So... Are you going to mutate even more?"
Deloth: "Probably. I seem to be the universe's guinea pig for things like this..."
Metal Man (GM): The warp back to the mainland is down the nearby stairs.
Deloth starts looking through the Explode book idly...
Aribar nods before going back to learning how to bend the fabrics of reality.
Deloth: "Eh, you go ahead if you want. I can wait."
Dragoshi: *Doesn't even say anything as he's reading up on his Ele book.* >_>
Gibby: "Boy, you guys are a bunch of book worms."
Keikyoku starts reading his ward book I guess.
Aribar: "Hey, books can be your friends!" *Goes back to trying to flip a page while holding the book... With only one arm.*
Deloth reaches over with a tentacle and flips it for Ari.
Gibby: "If they were my friends, they wouldn't give me so many headaches..."
Metal Man (GM): The Questers reach the warp thing and the Echidna is there.
Warp Attendant: "Ready to go?"
Aribar thanks Deloth and continues waiting for the group to make up their minds on what to do while learning how to break all the laws of physics.
Keikyoku shuffles over to the warp sadly.
Gibby: "I sure am."
Deloth: *mumbling.* "I still wonder what the limits of these are... yes, I'm ready. ...Hey, Gibby, how heavy are you?"
Metal Man (GM): *WARP* The Questers sent back to the headquarters at Westopolis. The door opens and the attendant goes to lead the Questers out the front door.
Dragoshi: *Warped back and stuff. Yaaaaaay!* :V *Then proceeds to exit the place. A-yep.*
Gibby: "That's a rather personal question, don't you think?"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers are let out the front door. An Echidna walks up to them.
Aribar follows the others.*
Keikyoku just glides behind the group.
???: "Hey, you're those guys who fight GUN, right?"
Metal Man (GM): He points to smoke on the horizon.
???: "The GUN guys began acting all weird. They don't usually fight to the death... ...A group of them is headed this way, and no amount of weaponry can slow them down."
Dragoshi: "...I see."
???: "They have real weird weapons themselves."
Dragoshi: "How weird are they?"
Aribar: "How large is this group?"
Gibby: "We'll have to fix that."
Deloth: "...Seriously, Gibby, how heavy are you?"
???: "Reports say... uhh... there's about five to ten walking machines with giant machineguns. They don't seem to take damage like their usual machines."
Gibby: "Why do you need to know?"
Aribar: "Wait... Machines? Not people?"
Deloth: "I want to see how much weight these can support." *tentacles wave slightly.*
???: "Yes. People inside machines."
???: "There was only one here. The owner ran away. The other city apparently had several. They changed from defending to attacking. Many died. They're within a couple minutes of attacking this town if you don't engage them first."
Deloth: "Then we'll do just that."
Dragoshi: "That we shall."
Keikyoku sits down, moping.
Gibby: "Oh fine... I'm about five pounds give or take... twice that after a good meal."
Deloth: "Huh. Well, then, let's see..." *wraps one of the tentacles around one of Gibby's fins and lifts. Easy.*
Gibby: "GAH! Put me down! It feels all... slimy."
Deloth: "It shouldn't. It should be fuzzy, not slimy." *sets Gibby back down.* "Way too easy."
Aribar: "When we go to meet them we should -try- to be civil and diplomatic... More conflict won't help our current mission."
Dragoshi: "Okay, guys. 'Nough messing around. We have machines to deal with." *Heads on out... TO THE MACHINES!*
Gibby: "Never do that again..."
Deloth: *insincerely.* "Oh, yeah, sure, I promise."
Deloth starts running out to the machines.
Gibby follows Del to the machines.
Keikyoku sighs, stands up and skates after the group.
Aribar follows the others after putting his book away.
Deloth: *as he runs.* "Well, five pounds was a cinch... I should probably try ten next, just to be safe. Sorry about that, Gibs, but you helped advance the field of science today. Be proud. After all, we're breaking new fields here. I'm the first of my kind!"
Metal Man (GM): The Questers eventually reach an area filled with craters and dead Echidna. Standing tall above the mayhem are four walker-mecha. The one in front has two sideways-turned guns in its hands. They're still smoking. The mecha are black-and-gray colored. The man in the first one speaks via a very loud PA device.
???: "Who are you? State your purpose or be blasted!"
Keikyoku snaps out of his melancholy and starts getting infuriated at the sight of the dead echidna.
Deloth: "Emissaries, sir. Why are you destroying these innocents?"
???: "They were trying to take over Capital City. Innocent my *Bleep*. They killed da mayor. That means I'M in charge now. All those dirty swine will die!"
Deloth casually takes his sword out. "We plan for that not to happen. You may want to simply turn around and walk away."
Dragoshi: "...And you are?"
Aribar: "There are wishes for peace between the Echidnas and GUN. To take counsel together and work out the problems."
Keikyoku grows more, and more, furious...
Commander Borne: "I am Commander Borne of GUN." *Gun-click.* "I will shoot anyone who gets in my way. Why should I even give those *bleep*ing Echidna a second of peace after what they did?"
Gibby: "Look, there's no need for anymore violence. We can end all this if you'll give us a chance."
Keikyoku get intensely angry at this a-hole badmouthing the echidna.
Aribar: "The leader of the Echidnas wishes to meet with your superiors. That is why you should pause."
Commander Borne: "We can take whatever his fools can throw at us, and we've already got plans in order to destroy their entire island. Why, again, do I care?" The red aiming dot appears right at the center of Aribar's forehead.
Deloth casually steps over in front of Ari. "Because of us. Even individually, we have more strength than you can ever hope to muster. As a team, we're nigh-unstoppable."
Dragoshi: *Just sways back and forth slightly, listening to the conversation.*
Keikyoku gets more angry, his eye twitching a bit, the *bleep*in *bleep*, killing the echidnas and then badmouthing them, and worst of all, trying to destroy Angel Island...
Deloth: "We've beaten false gods, cosmic horrors, and every other thing you can only imagine. I'll only tell you once more." *points his sword directly at the Commander.* "Turn. Around. Now."
Aribar takes out his sword as well and tenses, ready to leap into action... It seems inevitable now.
Commander Borne: "You have a sword..." *He points his gun at Deloth.* "I have an automatic grenade launcher."
Gibby sighs and unsheathes his sword. He wished it did not have to come to this.
Keikyoku seems emotionally troubled... to say the least, his eye twitching...
Commander Borne: "You, like the Echidna, appear resigned to die. Very well! I shall show you what we're made of! Squadron! Fire at will! Fire at will!"
Deloth: "I have command over the primal forces of two elements that explode violently when combined. I see your grenade launcher and raise you an Antipode."
Metal Man (GM): The leader laughs and opens fire at Deloth with his grenade launcher. *BLAM!* *BLAM!* Deloth is engulfed in fiery exploding.
Deloth takes both. At least it didn't crush Ari's fragile skull.
Gibby steps back from the explosion.
Commander Borne: "Ha! Ha! Still want to fight me?"
Gibby: "Time to take this guy seriously."
Deloth: "Well, I suppose I could try."
Aribar: "Del!" *The elf shields himself from the blast... Things aren't looking good.*
Dragoshi: "...this ain't gonna be pretty..."
Keikyoku being blind with rage runs, jumps, does a homing attack to get up on top of the Commander and punches him in the face.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku hits the dome of Borne's windshield. A hairline crack appears in it.
Commander Borne: "Oh no! This crack might obscure my view of your horribly fiery death!"
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku's second punch hits it wrong and doesn't do any damage.
Keikyoku is still clinging to the windshield.
Deloth takes a couple of deep breaths. "Incidentally, if one of you has a healing item, I'd be much obliged if you could patch me up a bit."
Gibby makes a note of that crack for later on.
Metal Man (GM): The Squadron takes aim.
Commander Borne: "Get this thing off my window!"
Soldier: "Yes sir!"
Metal Man (GM): One of them fires at Keikyoku. One blast misses. The other is pretty much dead on.
Deloth: "And by 'much obliged', I mean 'I think one of those frag grenades punctured a lung.'"
Metal Man (GM): He has a machinegun. Only the Commander has grenades. The other two turn to Deloth.
Soldier 2: "Shoot him while he's down!"
Soldier 3: "Yeahhh!!!!"
Deloth: "See you later, guys."
Metal Man (GM): In their fervor, they forget to look down their sights. Keikyoku is hit onc and knocked off the mech. Deloth is hit twice.
Deloth takes both hits, sheaths his sword... and crashes face-down into the dirt. KO.
Commander Borne: "You're not wimps, I'll give you that. But there won't be anything left to take home about!"
Gibby: "DEL! Damn it!"
Soldier 2: "We iced that alien real good!"
Dragoshi: "...I tire of this."
Soldier 3: "Let's kill 'em all!"
Dragoshi charges towards the Commander's mech and attempts to beat the crap out of it's windshield by attacking it with his sword.
Metal Man (GM): Dragoshi is struck out by the dice demon!
Commander Borne: "If you run now, I'll not blow you all to smithereens. My battle is with those echidnas. Not crazy suicidal immigrants!"
Gibby decides to go with the windshield breaking strategy. He charges towards Borne, leaps into the air, and stabs the windshield twice with his sword.
Soldier 1: "I dunno. I'd like to shoot them all up anyway."
Soldier 2: "Yeah! They suck. We rock. GUN will destroy all."
Metal Man (GM): Hit. Gibby stabs Deloth's corpse with the second stab.
Keikyoku starts twitching a bit, now the guy is insulting them too.
Gibby steps back... big mistake. At least he delivered damage to the windshield.
Dragoshi: "...rusted much?"
Gibby: "Nobody saw that..."
Metal Man (GM): The sword makes a big ol' gash in the windshield.
Aribar lunges forth past Deloth's body and towards the leader's mech. He shall not hold back a single drop of magic from this battle! His blade glows bright white as he leaps into the air. Aribar then attempts to plunge the enchanted blade down into Borne's machine. The elf then calls upon his innate mastery of electricity and channels a charge into his deadly opponent! (Warlock's Bane, White Lightning.)
Commander Borne: "Don't worry, I can cauterize the wound with EXPLOSIONS!"
Dragoshi: .oO(But I totally did.)
Metal Man (GM): Miss on the Warlock's Bane.
Aribar misses his sword strike, but still sends a streak of lightning into the mech! White Lightning!*
Commander Borne: "Okay, that guy with the sword nicked me. Waste him!"
Soldiers: "YES SIR!"
Metal Man (GM): It rains machinegun bullets in Gibby's direction. One begins to see why they got this far... those mechs are really powerful. Two hits... two more hits... one dodge! Tons of hits!
Commander Borne: "So. You thinking about my offer?" He aims his grenade launchers at Gibby and smirks.
Gibby is in much pain.
Keikyoku jumps up and punches the glass as hard as he can.
Metal Man (GM): The glass shatters from the impact... The mech staggers from the blow. Its defense is lowered. There's still a little bit of armor protecting the man inside, but Borne got a black eye and a bunch of glass wounds from that.
Keikyoku tries to actually uppercut the Commander out of the mech.
Metal Man (GM): The mech's pilot could potentially be removed, but he's belted in there six-ways. The amount of damage to the cockpit needed would probably also take out the mech. The hit is still not enough as the mech takes even more damage.
Aribar: "Great job, Keikyoku!" *The half-elf begins planning a way to try and end this battle..*
Dragoshi: "Good job, Kei. Good job..."
Metal Man (GM): The Commander thinks on his prospects with the spike-marks on his face and mech.
Commander Borne: "Hmmm... I can't waste my life fighting you..."
Metal Man (GM): He points at Gibby. "Well, I guess I'll have to ensure I have a clear retreat." He fires a grenade at Gibby, then turns and the mech begins running. The soldiers move to block attempts to chase him. Gibby takes the grenade to the face.
Gibby is KOed.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku is knocked off by the abrupt turn.
Dragoshi: *Tries to pursue the jerk. Not gettin' away that easily!*
Metal Man (GM): The soldiers don't appear to be planning on staying. But they block the way. One of the mechs shoves Dragoshi back.
Soldier: "The Commander's mech has failed him. That won't mean you get to kill him! We will be back to finish the job... with another one!"
Aribar: "If you can divert their attention... I might be able to freeze Borne's mech in place!"
Dragoshi: *to the soldier.* "Yeaaa... no." *Dragoshi attempts to beat the crap out of that soldier's windshield for this annoyingness with his sword.*
Metal Man (GM): They remain in the way. Dragoshi manages to deal damage to one of them. That said, they are thoroughly distracted by fighting with him.
Aribar has a thousand plans for getting past those mechs rushing through his head... And yet the elf realizes that due to how long it takes to summon his spells he will never be able to catch up to the Commander. However, maybe there is a chance... He decides that his best plan isn't working. He may still be able to hinder Commander Borne, however. The mage dashes around the mechs as fast as he is able to and tries to catch up to the lead mech...
Metal Man (GM): He has a mech, which doesn't get tired. Aribar runs far enough to be next to Dragoshi! Wheee!
Aribar uses the other half of his turn to continue to try and catch up to the mech. The half-elf is huffing and puffing and cursing about having no stamina, but he will preserve!
Metal Man (GM): Aribar runs a little bit further. He makes a mental reminder to order mechanical legs. The Soldiers are not interested in shooting anyone, so they run away as well. And move to block Keikyoku from the Commander.
Keikyoku tries to catch up with the Commander.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku is blocked.
Keikyoku tries again to catch up with the coward.
Metal Man (GM): He crashes into the remaining blocking soldier, who trips over him and falls. He doesn't catch up enough to actually touch the mech, but Keikyoku's in range...
Commander Borne: "You have made a fatal error." He pops off a shot at Keikyoku.
Metal Man (GM): *BOOM* *Megasplode.*
Commander Borne: "Now, if you can excuse me, I will be leaving!" *The mech continues running, with the subordinates still in the way, minus the one which tripped. Only Aribar and Dragoshi, who are too far away to catch up by now, remain.*
Dragoshi: "..." *Is not amused.*
Metal Man (GM): The Soldiers remain in range... but they've hardly taken any damage.
Aribar grinds his teeth... This was an abysmal failure. He checks if the mechas at least leave a trail (of destruction or footprints) behind them to follow.
Metal Man (GM): Well, they do leave huge footprints.
Dragoshi: *Just sighs and attempts to destroy the tripped mech's windshield with his sword.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit.
Soldier: "They'll chase the Commander if we don't kill them all!"
Soldier 2: "Perhaps we should destroy them, then."
Soldier 3: "We can't run away ourselves. The Commander needed us to just run away himself!"
Metal Man (GM): The windshield is heavily dented and about broken on that guy's mech.
Aribar is really debating the wisdom of continuing this fight, but he can't let Dragoshi fight this thing alone either. He rushes forth to help Drag!
Metal Man (GM): Aribar sees a strange figure on the horizon.
Aribar continues dashing towards the battle, but spares a glance at the figure..
Soldier 1: "You made us do this!" They open fire on Dragoshi.
Metal Man (GM): The figure... it's that robot the Questers met a while ago.
Dragoshi: *Hangin' on by... a thread.*
Metal Man (GM): They shoot the bejeesus out of Dragoshi.
Dragoshi: "..." *Pants heavily.*
Metal Man (GM): The Leader has left the battle. He's probably half-way to his city by now.
Keikyoku stops, turns, and starts defending in case the subordinates come after him.
Metal Man (GM): One soldier mech is rather weak. The other two are pretty much ready to slaughter Questers. Had the Commander stuck to his plan of being a slaughtermachine, he probably could have ensured victory... at the cost of his life.
Dragoshi: *Uses a tonic, and attempts to destroy the windshield again...*
Metal Man (GM): Hit. BLAM. No more shield. Windshield, that is.
Aribar has -no- idea why they are still fighting. Still, maybe they can end this battle... The elf leaps up into the windshieldless mech and holds his sword next to the pilot.* "Tell your friends to cease firing now."
Metal Man (GM): Well, it's a bit off the ground, and the mech can move out of the way. So. Aribar bravely leaps into the side of the mech. The man inside is frightened and runs away with the mech.
Aribar is... Trampled or something... This isn't going well. He looks about, and sees two mint condition mechs. He does the suicidal and launches a blast of wind at one of the mechs. Since the others want to fight...
Metal Man (GM): It bends a bit, but isn't too shaky. The squadron of mechs attack. First, one of them fires both guns at Dragoshi.
Metal Man (GM): The one running away comes upon Keikyoku and fires upon him, wanting him to get out of the way. It misses. The one still at the group opens fire on Aribar.
Aribar tries to dance through the gunfire!
Metal Man (GM): Aribar takes damage. Keikyoku takes none. There is one remaining guy.
Keikyoku starts concentrating, turning his intense, burning fury into energy, no, power!
Aribar has had enough of this. His friends have been struck down by these crude machines. That bull-headed Commander got away with barely a scratch on him. And now this last mecha thinks that it can defeat the Questers. He begins to shimmer... A prismatic aura surrounds the elf and his eyes start to glow bright yellow. Gathering Final Smash energy!*
Metal Man (GM): The two mech facing Aribar fire at him like their lives depend on it. The one facing Keikyoku does the same.
Aribar holds out his hand; bolts of electricity arc towards each wave of bullets fired at him and make them explode before they can reach the archmage.*
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku is damaged. Aribar charges up his Final Smash energy and... Explodes. BOOOM. The mech drivers are killed on impact. But so is Aribar. Meanwhile, Keikyoku is still alive, and he's facing a pretty much nigh-dead Mech guy. And he has a Final Smash.
Aribar 's body is shredded with bullets as the barrage get past his electrical defense. The elf takes uses his last moments to channel all of his magical energy into an explosion! Unexpected and accidental, but... Final Glitched Smash: Sacrifical Mega Magic!
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku would see the giant explosion in the background, leaving him against a helpless near-dead mech enemy.
Keikyoku triggers his final smash, floating and his back arching, his spikes growing in length to about a foot, and a electricity shield ressurrecting itself around him, he then jumps up and punches the mech driver in the head, the spikes going through his entire head.
Metal Man (GM): Keikyoku punches the mech and just falls over, barely working and on fumes, energy-wise. He looks around... he is the only one still alive. Questers Win! Phyrric Victory! Keikyoku is the only one still standing in a field of debris and destruction.
Keikyoku hops in the mech and gathers his fellow Questers into it and tries to drive it to Westopolis.
Metal Man (GM): Aaand... Aribar Learned Ele! Gibby learned Telekinetic. A while later... the Questers, sans Keikyoku, were beaten down in an epic battle that repelled the desperate Commander Borne's counter-attack.
Dragoshi: *Has been shot full of machinegun bullets. A-yep.*
Metal Man (GM): Here they awaken in a hospital area in Westopolis. Keikyoku is standing nearby, as are a number of Echidna cultists. Or at least, some of them.
Deloth blinks his eyes a few times and groggily wakes up.
Metal Man (GM): ...A cultist leader stands by, watching carefully.
Keikyoku has handed over the mech to the cultists so they can make mechs of their own, and give us one or two.
Dragoshi: *Dragoshi seems to be fully healed. So... he gets up and looks around. Huzzah!*
Deloth: "Whoo... taking grenades to the chest isn't good for me."
Leader: "You have... repelled an unheard of attack. It appears you are for real, then... even though you seem to not possess quite the abilities you have mentioned in passing before..."
Deloth swings his legs around to the edge of the bed and sits up. "We're all still a bit rusty, apparently. Apologies."
Leader: "The next time we shall have our troops back you up. Had we done that before, you could have pressed on. It is our fault for doubting your effectiveness."
Metal Man (GM): A man opens the door and walks in. The Leader is shocked. It's a GUN soldier, but with a white flag.
Leader: "Who are you?"
???: "I've come to explain what happened there... and why we need those people to help both of us."
Dragoshi: *blinks.* "...okay. explain, please."
Leader: "What? But... didn't you send your secret weapon to destroy us?"
???: "...Yes... and no."
Dragoshi: "...and no?"
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a picture of Commander Borne.
Dragoshi: "Let me guess. Someone got a liiittle too kill-happy."
???: "This man rebelled in the attack and took most of GUN with him, as it appeared the mayor was dead. No. The mayor was hidden away. We do not actually want a war. But this man and his men have wanted to take over the government militarily... it turns out that, this incident was a convenient pretense to launch his attack under. The mayor escaped with a small entourage. For their safety, they are hiding in a place neither he nor you nor even I know about. But this leads me to our proposal. You want this city. We want to restore civilian control to GUN."
Dragoshi: .oO(Swell... Prolly' for the better, though.) e_e
Leader: "What if we just want Capital City for ourselves? You have made enough mistakes. We could potentially destroy him and lead it in a way which would prevent this."
???: "...This is why I requested to go here of all places."
Metal Man (GM): He looks to the Questers.
???: "You have no secret weapon, just them. They decide what is done. If they agree to give you the city I will give you no resistance... but I suspect they would rather have it in our hands, and leave you what you have."
Leader: "Why... you... ...well."
Metal Man (GM): The leader looks to the Questers.
Leader: "What do you think? I believe this is a ruse to give the Commander time to make a counter-attack."
???: "He isn't that smart. He just has a lot of weapons."
Dragoshi: "We've noticed. And that noticing hurt."
Deloth: "...How did we even get out of that situation, anyways?"
Leader: "So... do you think this crazy plan is the way... or the more reliable takeover? These people are fools at government. ...You fought to the last man, and the last man survived."
Deloth: *raising an eyebrow.* "And that last man was..."
Deloth: "... Really now."
Deloth looks at the Leader. "Is he telling the truth?"
Leader: "If he hadn't have carried you back here using the war mech he stole, you could have all died."
Leader: "I suspect he dodged the most fatal part of the attack and killed the weakened survivors after we saw the Commander flee."
Deloth looks down at the floor for a bit. "...Looks like I was wrong about my judgments."
Dragoshi: *chuckles.* "...Good job."
???: "...So what are your judgments today?"
Deloth looks back up and extends a hand to Keikyoku. "I'm sorry. Considering that you managed to take down those goons all by yourself... looks like I messed up with evaluating you. Truce and a fresh start?"
Keikyoku: "K." *shakes the hand.*
Deloth looks back at mister white flag. "Your offer is tempting, but frankly, we have no reason to believe you. Unless you have concrete proof that your word is the truth, in which case, I think we'd all like to see it."
Dragoshi: *Just stays silent and listens...*
???: "..." He crosses his arms. "Commander Borne told his soldiers routinely never to surrender. Yet I am here." *He shrugs.* "But if you are so skeptical, me and the mayor are probably better off finding other options."
Keikyoku does the same.
???: "The elected state was slowly removed by Borne's reactionary politics. People believed he was for them... until this happened. Now they are his toys to throw at you and die."
???: "I came here because I possess the tools to defuse and weaken Borne." The Leader Cultist moves as if to try to take a file from him. "Nuh-uh-uh. These files are coded. Our intelligence suggests that without this information you can still win. You just won't have much of a city to claim, due to the fact he's taken over practically all the defenses."
Leader: "Still, you could be a spy... your information could be all tricks."
???: "If Borne was that smart, they wouldn't have been able to survive that battle. He possessed tactical strike missiles... ready within minutes to annihilate them. But he wants to save those for fighting you."
Keikyoku: "I vote that the echidnas take over capitol city."
Dragoshi: "I... shall remain neutral."
???: "I will note that while I specifically won't be involved in potential third-party interference... the people of Capital City will not stand by for long."
Leader: "Well, I think we have heard quite enough."
???: "I shall leave now." He walks out.
Dragoshi: "...I see."
Keikyoku: "So now what."
Leader: "It is ultimately your choice. The man is heading towards the beach area if you should sympathize with him. Or you may proceed with our men to take over Capital City."
Keikyoku waits for what the other Questers say.
Deloth: "I... am not sure right now. I'm all for the echidnas taking Central City, but I'm still not convinced that it will fully solve the conflict. Still, I don't see a better choice on the horizon, so I guess we'll just hit the ground running on this one and deal with problems as they crop up."
Keikyoku: "Well I think it will at least be a step in the right direction."
Deloth: "So. I'm feeling better, but I have one last question."
Deloth: "Would you happen to have some weights? Fifty pounds or so?"
Leader: "There is some heavy debris outside..."
Deloth: "Thank you." *heads towards that.*
Keikyoku follows Del.
Metal Man (GM): A little time passes. The group is still at the Echidna HQ in Westopolis, near the hospital area. The wounded are healed, and the Questers are just sort of waiting around for the others to wake up. There's tables and free food/drink laying around.
Deloth: "Well, I did a little testing on myself after I woke up."
Digifanatic: "What do you mean, Deloth?"
Deloth: "One of these--" *flexes a tentacle.* "--can lift about fifty pounds. All four working in tandem can handle about 180 to 200."
Digifanatic: "Oh. So, what kinda situation are we looking at right now?"
Deloth grabs a soda and takes a sip.
Dragoshi: *Just drinkin some water. A-yep.*
Deloth: "Either bushwhack the crazy guy in the mech that hit me with two frag grenades and machine gun fire, or help the echidnas here take over Central City."
Dragoshi: "Personally, I like the idea of bushwhacking the crazy guy, buuuuut... that's just me." :/
Digifanatic: "I second that motion."
Deloth: "Considering its current state, I can't imagine them doing much worse, frankly." *takes another sip.*
Digifanatic: "That's what we usually wind up doing, anyway, Drago."
Deloth: "So. We all ready to smash that guy and take whatever we can fence as scrap?"
Digifanatic: "Might as well!"
Dragoshi: "Don't see why not."
Metal Man (GM): The Echidna guy walks in.
Echidna: "So... your decision?"
Deloth: "We're taking down Borne."
Echidna: "..." *He shrugs.* "The man you want to talk to is still outside, then."
Deloth gets up and tosses his can in the garbage, then heads for Mr. ????.
Dragoshi: *Casually follows behind Deloth.*
Metal Man (GM): The Questers walk outside and see the man and his white flag.
Man: "...So you came around after all?"
Digifanatic: "Thanks" *follows the others outside.*
Man: "I have the plan to retake the city, if you're still interested."
Digifanatic: "That might be nice, but we really don't need psycho mech-piloters hanging around here."
Deloth: "We're more interested in the psychotic man in the mech first."
Dragoshi: *Just lets the others talk while he listens.*
Man: "Funny thing..." *He takes a picture out of Borne.* "My plan centers around stopping and confronting that man."
Digifanatic: "Ah... put two and two together..."
Man: "He has stolen the most high tech weaponry and has the city in lockdown. The key to stopping him is to break your way into the GUN headquarters and either capture him or chase him away."
Digifanatic: "Chasing implies a chance of escape."
Deloth: "I say we capture this guy instead of just running him around."
Man: "I can give you a ride to the city outskirts... if you're ready."
Digifanatic: "I say I'm ready."
Metal Man (GM): He walks over to a worn out jeep and motions for the Questers to hop in.
Digifanatic: *hops in!*
Dragoshi: *Enters the jeep.*
Deloth climbs in.
Metal Man (GM): The jeep drives off towards the city.
Man: "I was hoping you'd come with me... truth is, Borne's been a threat for a long time."
Digifanatic: "I imagine."
Deloth: "Definitely got enough screws loose for it. ...Incidentally, we still haven't learned your name."
David Hale: "Not that it matters, but my name is David Hale. I was a member of the now ousted GUN administration. In the post-Eggman world, we had driven to make the world a safe place... then he showed up."
Metal Man (GM): The jeep slowly makes its way to the city. It's an overcast, dreary day.
David Hale: "The technology we made was to stop Eggman, but for some reason he revived the program. I suspect it was so he could use it like he is now."
Digifanatic: "I wouldn't be surprised."
Metal Man (GM): He drives through the road, and gets closer.
David Hale: "Now the first thing to watch out for will be the guards at the entrance... though you survived mecha, so it shouldn't be too hard. The entrance to GUN HQ will have even more guards. You'll need to stop them, too. There's a special lock... you'll need to press a part of the wall near it to unlock it. Otherwise there's a trap door. Once inside, the special ops will attack. They're really tough. You might want to use their own weapons against them... You'll want to go into the basement. The top levels are all primarily civillian and likely to be a trap. He's down towards the bottom, in the bunker. This is where stealth is key. If you are too noisy, he may lock the bunker, making him untouchable. The bunker can self-sustain itself for years."
Deloth: "Demo charges won't work?"
Digifanatic: "Thanks for the tip... any way you can aid us in fighting or are you more of the background spy guy or something?"
Deloth: "You could just send the bunker sky-high after he locks himself in."
David Hale: "It's safe against nuclear missiles... and more. I have to get back to the mayor. We have few people. Also they would know to lock the bunker if they saw me..."
Deloth: "Got it."
Digifanatic: "I understand."
Deloth leans back somewhat uncomfortably. Stealth was never really his strong suit...
Metal Man (GM): The jeep pulls up to a darkened area with trees before the city.
David Hale: "Good luck... we're close enough. I'll try to run a secondary mission to distract the other identified base they have."
Dragoshi: "...other identified base?"
David Hale: "There's a second one, in the same city."
Dragoshi: "Ah. Good luck with that, then."
David Hale: "I don't have many details yet. It seems to be a lab." *He nods.* "Good luck to you too."
Digifanatic: "Appreciate that, Mr. Hale."
Metal Man (GM): So the Questers prepare for the battle... and things pause for now.
