Metal Man (GM): Continuation Garrick is aboard the Goa'uld ship of Sloan's. Sloan is standing there, when he sees you warp in via 6 rings. The rings vanish and you are facing him.
Sloan: "Hm. Seems everything went well."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I wouldn't say 'well'..."
Sloan: "Well, his whole plan got blown up."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You didn't tell me the planet was a thing, Sloan..."
Sloan: "Oh. Thought you already knew."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...no. No, I didn't."
Sloan: "It damn near killed you, after all. The illness. I thought the planet had caused that."
Garrick Fy`aar frowned, seemingly confused...
Sloan: "It has caused great diseases on people, destroying their minds... like what happened to Deloth."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I deteremined that the illness that I had was caused by the FOXDIE virus being mutated by Smash Energy..."
Sloan: "Then... why didn't it happen while on Nintendus much earlier? Unless it did. Records are incomplete on you."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Because the Smash Energy was keeping me alive and youthful... Smash Energy kept the Questers healthy. ...but..." *He frowns, looking to the side.*
Sloan: "So... why would the Smash Energy be why your virus went wrong? Seems like the planet saw a weakness and activated it. Or. Red Text, I dunno. It sounds engineered to me."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I don't know, maybe I wasn't in my right mind... in any case, FOXDIE isn't in me anymore..."
Sloan: "Well, good, otherwise the planet would have killed you already. Or made you its slave. It likes to manipulate. The Mad Men nanites are sort of a similar thing. That's why it has them by the neck. Well, not Borne. I don't know how he did it but he somehow is invulnerable to it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Jack is still alive, though... he wants me to find some spell so I can finally kill him."
Sloan: "Oh. Well, that's a relief. We should go and get it as soon as possible then."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I have no idea where it might be, though... and besides, we can't get it just yet. With the power imbalanced of Jack gone, Borne is going to make a move."
Sloan: "Undoubtedly. Borne has won basically all conflicts on Alsa. If Jack is weak, this may be the final victory he needs..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Then we need to do something to make Borne put on the breaks."
Sloan: "Borne seems to have mastery of life and death with Alsa. Killing him is going to be a struggle. I worked under him, but I never learned his secrets."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We don't need to kill him... we just need to stall him."
Sloan: "He was not like the other Mad Men. He was never actually human to begin with... He was born to two other Mad Men. It seems his intelligence factor was squared compared to them."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Of course he isn't human. NO ONE is human anymore. Except me."
Metal Man (GM): Sloan stands there, in his yellow clothes with blue stars, and feigns mock-insult before chuckling.
Sloan: "My clothes may confuse you, but I'm entirely unaltered and human."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You'll forgive me if I don't readily believe you. ...oh, and speaking of which."
Sloan: "None taken." *He would take out a horrific looking burnt cookie full of metal bits and bite it, eating some of it.*
Garrick Fy`aar walks up to Sloan and grabs him by the wrist, holding the hand with the bracelet on it up in front of his face.
Metal Man (GM): He looks at it, raising an eyebrow, and with a mouth full of abomination-cookie.
Garrick Fy`aar: "You want to tell me why you had me go of and kill Jack when you could have easily done it yourself?"
Sloan: "Well, that's easy." *He would swallow.* "He'd expect me. His defenses were made against me, my defenses. You... you're a nobody to him. He didn't know. Goa'uld and Ancient Atlantean weapons and more would be blocked by his warding. You on the other hand is sort of like being attacked by Abraham Lincoln. You're ancient history to Alsa."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh, I'm flattered. It's a bad thing I didn't hit him with my walker." *He grumbles and lets Sloan go, going back to his pacing.*
Sloan: "Well, you'll get your chance. See. Borne is busy fighting Anthon's robo-killers right now, so you can go invade whatever spot of his you should fancy."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Who, Jack?"
Sloan: "Then we simply take over GUN and follow Borne's plans and take over Jack's stuff. Then you kill Jack and we rule Alsa. Easy as pie."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's never easy as pie... hrm..."
Sloan: "You have any preference over which part you want? I'm not picky... Jack's wasteland is a good place to set up slinky ramps and mountains of chocolate."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'm not ruling anything, Sloan. I told you about this. There is no ruling. No dictatorship. We make the planet free and safe so people can live without worry of someone coming along and turning them into magical goo or fill them with lasers."
Sloan: "Hm. There's a problem there, Gary. Borne was popularly elected. He ran on the platform of anti-Questers. Given the alternative was crazy Larry, er I mean Marley, he won by a landslide."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's a good thing I'm not a Quester, then..."
Sloan: "He works with the democratic council the Questers instated on the planet, to do as the representatives please. As such he is attacking Jack to protect their interests. It just so happens they don't mind if he also gets Jack's land. They just want Jack dead, that badly."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Look, you know and I know that if Borne gets his tendrils in place, he'll turn the planet into his own dictatorship." *He places his hands on a nearby console and leans over it.*
Sloan: "Oh, but that's the beauty of it." *He walks around, and puts up the TV.*
Metal Man (GM): It shows the dead Garricks, and footage of Garrick scowling and saying "NO MORE DEATGUARDS", and then dead deathguards.
Borne: "Citizens of GUN, I have made these sacrifices because foreign invaders demanded it so. They may strike again. Vote for increased military power to save yourselves from these genocidal maniacs... or next time they might go 'no civilians' and threaten us all."
Sloan: "You provide him all the footage he wants, people cheer at eroding their own rights to save themselves from an ancient and infamous enemy."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The Questers. Fucking hell... So what you're saying is if we kill Borne, is just going to make him stronger."
Sloan: "Yes. Unless we plan on ruling the planet with an iron fist."
Garrick Fy`aar places his head in his hands, sighing.
Sloan: "Which I have ready. Anthon has his plan too. Anthon's plan is to build up a rebellion... and gradually take it over. I'm not confident in him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and there's nothing I can do to make myself look better in their eyes..."
Sloan: "Nope. The footage is demonic, your demands have basically made you a monster. The old footage means anything that was a Quester once is beyond mere evil and into demonic territory. Not helped by the fact most of them were actual demons. We can destroy Borne. But..."
Metal Man (GM): He shows landmarks dedicated to Sergeant Levis.
Garrick Fy`aar stood there, staring at the screen... an idea slowly formed in his head...
Metal Man (GM): Even an entire school of Sergeant Levis combat tactics. He is shown as a saint, alongside various other people who were killed.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...tell me something, Sloan."
Sloan: "We have to defeat the myth, before we can destory the man. Yes?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Borne has basically made the Questers into living demons, right? Everyone hates them."
Sloan: "Yes. Jack and Borne would drop their war today if they thought Questers had returned. They and even Red Text would unite to kill them. Heck, I might even help them. We all hated those @#$%ers."
Garrick Fy`aar: "So the Questers that the people know are the ones the people have seen themselves OR the ones Borne has told them."
Sloan: "Yes. These days it tends to be more story than reality. Most of the people the Questers interacted with, they killed. Directly or indirectly."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...it... might work then..."
Sloan: "I'm open to sneaky ideas."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Can you show me a list of the Questers that Borne has showed the people?"
Metal Man (GM): The display shows a list. It shows... Kit, Digifanatic, Demon... Dragoshi, Julian, Metal Man (also listed as Time Bandit--although only rarely shown because he seems to not be fully understood by Borne) Aribar, Andrew, Flaeyn... Kuji is noted almost like those Japanese soldiers who kept fighting long after the war ended--he's shown doing guerilla attacks on people... Garrick himself, obviously... Gibby, Panzer, Rinith, and Kenku.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and that's it?"
Metal Man (GM): Panzer is listed entirely separately as being more dangerous than the Questers.
Garrick Fy`aar: "You're absolutely positive that these are the Questers the people know and fear?"
Sloan: "He did not know enough about anyone else. His stories are primarily about these Questers, yes."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Does he even idly MENTION any others?"
Sloan: "He has made one off mentions of mythical Questers that he has only heard of from stolen data. Ones about a mythical Yurie and Razor, and Charles Magellean. But I don't even know who they are, and he speaks of them more like one speaks of... dinosaurs. They aren't really feared. More of a history exhibit."
Garrick Fy`aar stares at Sloan for a minute, then slowly places a shaking hand on a nearby chair.
Sloan: "He notes how those were the prototypes for making the current Questers, although he has other theories."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...there is... one other man."
Sloan: "There... is?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Someone not listed here. So the people don't know of him, I'm guessing."
Sloan: "Indeed. Borne's stories dictate the reality now."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We need the people on our side for this, Sloan. We can't just kill off people, we've got to get the masses. We need a symbol."
Sloan: "Indeed. I told Anthon this. Anthon, however, had made too many mistakes in his past to recover his image. He told me it didn't matter and he was going to strangle Borne to death anyway."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I think I know of someone who could do it. Maybe. It's a long shot."
Sloan: "Well, I can afford to gamble. If I lose, I have my own planet anyway. I can try again every 10 years if I want."
Garrick Fy`aar looks... scared. Like, really freaked out.
Sloan: "I'll get a bit old but... it's fun to try anyway. Though if I die I'll have to find a successor, hm. I should think about that. I don't believe in magical life-extending gimmicks, anyway."
Metal Man (GM): He seems oblivious. I, the GM, however, know what you are getting at. In fact it is an interesting loophole that is there due to said character only ever appearing once or twice, and even then, on the freakin' moon.
Garrick Fy`aar reaches into his jacket and pulls out a small device, setting in on the nearby console.
Metal Man (GM): Someone Borne would have never expected to even exist.
Garrick Fy`aar: "A Transformer. Old, old Quester technology."
Sloan: "Ah. A fine piece of artifactry from Nintendus."
Metal Man (GM): He smells it.
Sloan: "I can smell the evil realm-tearing energies Wolfman used on it. Artifacts are my business, and this would be a world-rending level one if it had been invented here. Just what we need. But... which thing happens when you use this one? Is it... Zio? VG? ...Tridus? I've read the logs, but I'm hazy on which thing you might have. No, wait... Kuja..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "No... see, Transformers only work if the specific DNA of the people mix well together."
Sloan: "...Oh. I was going to say. I don't see you being best buddies with Kuja."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Kinda like... two halves of the same coin."
Sloan: "Or Orlando Florida, who sounds even fruitier than Kuja or my sense of fashion."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh, believe me... I'm not entirely best buddies with this guy... but I tend to think he'll be better for this than I will."
Sloan: "Well, as long as it isn't Glyph Phoenix in there, I'm all eyes for seeing who it is."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Listen to me, Sloan. Listen carefully. When I use this, you HAVE to say a few choice words. You must tell him that the Questers... love rap."
Sloan: "No problem, what are they? ...I see."
Garrick Fy`aar: "They LOVE rap music. Cannot get enough of it."
Sloan: "I'm going to have to ask what the context behind that is sometime."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Then tell him about the situation. It's best if you give him a target. Someone that needs punching. I'm counting on you for this. It's going to be hard to get him to focus."
Sloan: "The Sergeant Levis memorial School of Flying Laser-Bulldozers sounds like a good bet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The goal is to get the people on HIS SIDE. They've got to want to follow under him. He needs to be a symbol. You understand?"
Sloan: "Oh. Right. I'm too good at being evil. Hmmm... he should probably save some poor people stuck under the thumb of Jack on the borderlands."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That works."
Sloan: "They aren't killed, but Jack mysteriously carts the citizens off for 'experiments'... it's evil."
Garrick Fy`aar sighs and takes the device, reaching up to settle it on the bare skin of his arm. It attaches with a small whirling sound and Garrick winces. "...it'd also be best if you gave him one of those bracelets, if he needs it. I dunno how strong he will be coming out of this."
Sloan: "I have plenty. I just don't tell anyone. Don't want an entire army of Questers on my hands. Without my expert guidance they might ruin the world."
Metal Man (GM): He winks.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Heh... alright... there's a specialty command at my base that will reverse the transformation if you need to. I'm sure you can crack in and get it. It's not hard to find. I'll... talk to you soon, hopefully."
Sloan: "I'll figure it out if I have to. Breaking tech is my game."
Garrick Fy`aar nods, sighs a bit, then braces as if he's about to get punched in the face and smacks the Transformer. It whirls... and Garrick is enveloped in a flash of bright, yellow light. He can easily make out Garrick's body literally changing and moving. He seems to get smaller in some sense, heavy muscles becoming more of a swimmers build, hair growning much, much longer... clothes changing He from skin tight material to baggy t-shirt and jeans... *It doesn't take too terribly long... until the light fades away. Standing in his place... well, everyone knows what this guy looks like by now.*
Sloan: "...MrMonster must have had a lot of strange experiences between the last time he appeared and now. Oh, hello there. The Questers love rap, and they love it more than anything else."
Alex Fender sort of stands there for a moment. He looks... perplexed, to say the least. He slowly looks around the area... then he settles his gaze on Sloan. He takes a loooooooong deep breath in and... "...BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCHIN'!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M FREE FROM THE STUPID ROCK THING."
Sloan: "...Why yes. I think that every time I look at my bridg--oh."
Alex Fender: "Though I should probably punch myself in the face. I said stupid and rock in the same sentence."
Sloan: "It's time to take over Ear--er I mean Alsa---er I mean save Alsa."
Alex Fender: "Really. I should die. But I like living--wait, what whoa who w-wait what whoa wait." *He sorta squints and looks hard at Sloan for a moment.* "No, see, you're a person I've never met before. We've got to do this the right way."
Metal Man (GM): His bizarre dress shirt has yellow and blue stars and polkadot purple, red and white metallic-sheen boots.
Alex Fender proceeds to jump up and land on Sloan's head, bending over to look at him from up there and staring at him face to face.
Metal Man (GM): He pokes at his green and orange tie.
Alex Fender: "THERE we go."
Metal Man (GM): He looks up to Fender with a strange grin.
Sloan: "I see you have customs as strange as my taste in clothing."
Alex Fender: "I HAVE NOT YET BEGUN TO STRANGE."
Sloan: "Why didn't I ask Garrick to push the button earlier? His normality was beginning to rub off on me."
Alex Fender: "Because he is the biggest poopy head. Have I talked about his tight pants? Cause he totally has them."
Sloan: "Well, tight pants can be good, but only in shades of orange trimmed with aluminum foil."
Alex Fender: "Kay, so, the Questers like rap, do they? Yeah, that figures. That's dumb. They're dumb."
Sloan: "Uh... yes. Yes they are dumb. SO very dumb in fact, that we are to consider them... enemies. Not frenemies, but Eneenemies. It's like enemies, only more Enemas. And those are yucky."
Alex Fender: "...I like you. You're good peepz. Okay, so, save the world, get the girl, eat a sammich? I can do that. I just need to--GASP." *He made to reach behind him... and found nothing.* "MAH BABY!"
Sloan: "Yes. Yes I am." *He takes a bite from a dysfunctional purple metal-filled cookie.* "The plan, if you should accept this daring mission, is to defeat ugly people who hate fun."
Alex Fender: "WHERE'S MAH BABY?!"
Sloan: "Hm. Describe this baby. Maybe I can find it. Or something like it."
Alex Fender hops off Sloan and seems to dance in place, looking paniced. "My guitar! I has to have it! I dun has it and I needs it or I DIE."
Sloan: "Let me guess. It has to be your guitar. Not one stolen from just anywhere."
Alex Fender pauses and looks at him.
Sloan: "I can probably find it eventually. There has to be something unique about it..."
Alex Fender: "...rock comes in many forms... If you have A guitar, I'll make do... but it has to smash people."
Sloan: "Well. There is THIS guitar, I stole it from a world in which trees come alive and eat people."
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a bizarre white guitar. The Legendary Guitar Grecotch from Deadly Premonition.
Sloan: "It's heavy, but for some reason... it really kills people dead."
Alex Fender scowls at it... taking it... and strums the strings.
Metal Man (GM): It is magical, though maybe not in the way Alex would be used to. For whatever reason it feels like in addition to playing rock it can be used to bludgeon anything to death. It is high quality, besides the purple zombie goo stuck on the side used for killing things.
Alex Fender: "...hrmmmmmmmmm... HRMMMMMMMMMMMMM..."
Sloan: "I'd use it myself, but I got tired of spending so much time trying to get it over my head and into the enemy's skull."
Alex Fender: "...this'll do... though I'd prefer mah baby, this'll do juuuuust fiiiiine."
Metal Man (GM): http://deadlypremonition.wikia.com/wiki/Grecotch
Alex Fender: "Okay, so, give me the short, short, short version. What needs doing and what needs dead?"
Sloan: "Evil unfun skeletons that belong in a bad goth concert."
Alex Fender: "Oh, DUDE. I'll kill them dead."
Sloan: "They hold a town of innocent people hostage at the edge of a continent."
Alex Fender: "Oh jeez. Yes."
Sloan: "Kill them all and free the town from the evil undead and their lack of taste in outfits."
Alex Fender: "Yes, I will basheth them good."
Sloan: "Then the people will be able to hail you as their new hero. Because I am too underground and strange for normal people to cheer for."
Alex Fender: "And give me donuts."
Sloan: "Donuts you shall have. I will give you as many as you need."
Alex Fender: "Fuck. Yes. This is the BEST DAY EVER. Smashing skeletons, getting donuts, perhaps the chance at hot babes, hero time. "
Sloan: "Finally, here is a fancy bracelet that will give you super powers."
Alex Fender: "I am ALL OV--DUDE."
Metal Man (GM): He hands you one of his power-up devices.
Alex Fender: "You sure you ain't Santa or some shit?"
Sloan: "Santa subcontracts to me sometimes."
Alex Fender puts that bitch on his sexy wrist.
Sloan: "My tendency to stock up on rare and exciting items, then give them away makes me almost as good as he is at delivering presents."
Alex Fender: "Alright! I got meh guitar, I got meh super power bracelet, I got meh nads!"
Sloan: "In any case, when you're ready, step onto the ring and then the skeleton destruction can begin."
Metal Man (GM): A ring lights up--the warp out.
Sloan: "I'll be in touch if you need info."
Alex Fender: "LET'S KICK THIS PIG RIGHT IN THE TAINT!" *He leaps inside and warps away.*
Metal Man (GM): Aaand we pause here.
Metal Man (GM): Illian Session Illian is at the bridge. Gibby and Azon are nowhere to be seen. He's busy staring at the emptiness of space. Valron would have come here, because an automated reminder noted to him that this was the time he said to come back.
Illian MacGregor: "It seems... no matter how hard I try... I can never find a simple way to stop Xavier. It's just that by virtue of having no plans, he can do everything faster than I can ever react. If he stood still he would be dead. He moves so fast, though, that I can never rally the fleet in time to smash him. Time travel is useless because he can do it too... and that damned core of his makes him even faster than us. It may kill him eventually, but that is too long to wait..."
Valron: *Blinks, taking note of it, before speaking.* "...Sir. My apologies for interrupting your reflections, but."
Illian MacGregor: "Here I am, unable to figure out a plan, just grasping at straws. Jack here, fate controlling stones there, SIMBER there, Ael there. This just isn't working as it is, we need a more permanent solution than merely grasping at straws."
Metal Man (GM): He'd turn to face you.
Illian MacGregor: "It's quite alright, with the others off on shore leave elsewhere I've had no one to talk to. Nor have I ever really had anyone to discuss this with. Xavier is a moving target, my Kuja-era strategies can never seem to catch him. Time Cops sat in one place so I could destroy them. Jack... Jack even is doing that, we will easily rid the world of him."
Valron: *He nods, kicking his leg out a little.* "I see..."
Illian MacGregor: "But Xavier? I... need to be able to change my plans much faster than I already can. It's infuriating. I have various ideas, but I have no clue which is right, if any of them even are."
Valron: "Ideas such as?"
Illian MacGregor: "Well, there is this one..."
Metal Man (GM): SIMBER shows up.
SIMBER: "I have the information on Oak's Pseudocube bazooka. I have also synthesized Magitek."
Illian MacGregor: "The problem is catching h--"
SIMBER: "And guess what moves really fast? Pseudocubes."
Metal Man (GM): He holds up a sphere. It glows violently, and the energy throws all the loose paper and debris in the room all the way against the other wall.
SIMBER: "If I had the raw materials, I could create enough of these... we could simply rip through time and space faster than any Time Cop device."
Metal Man (GM): Illian stands back, shocked.
SIMBER: "Don't look at me that way. When The Void made me, I learned his secrets of defying reality."
Illian MacGregor: "...So I'd advise caution before resorting to what you just said..."
Valron: "...Well, you certainly came out of nowhere. Though, to be frank, I'd rather not risk the long-term ramifications of such rapid tearing."
SIMBER: "I was rescued from a Transformer by Fizban, but your limited memory is to be expected."
Valron: "At least, not unless it's used sparingly."
SIMBER: *Crosses his arms* "Say my name when you realize I'm the only thing capable of outthinking insanity."
Metal Man (GM): *ZOOP* He vanishes.
Valron: "I'll keep you in mind."
Illian MacGregor: "The next option is..."
Metal Man (GM): A hologram of Ael appears.
Valron: "...Ah, yes. Of course Ael would be an option."
Ael: "Now that you've wasted enough time talking to that other thing--"
SIMBER: "Hey, you died more permanently than me, idiotic flesh being."
Ael: "I've seen every second of your pathetic existence. You're a hollow shadow of what I am, machine."
SIMBER: "Then why did you need a machine to help you do everything at your headquarters?"
Valron: "...Are you two really going to do this?"
Ael: "This thing claims to be a better version of me. I don't even know why it does that, but it annoys me."
SIMBER: "Ael personality data is at least 2/3 of mine mixed with weakling human emotions."
Ael: "We might have something in common, but that's hating Xavier. Not anything else. Now shut up and let me talk."
SIMBER: "Waste of binary space." *Vanishes.*
Valron: "Thank you."
Ael: "The Dweezil are still a nuisance and Laconius is claiming that you should ally with him instead. I managed to distract him with false coordinates. He's visiting a realm full of lunatics right now. I've heard your leader's sad spiel about his problems. That's because he is trying what I used to do--chasing Xavier. You saw what happened to me. Or at least heard it."
Valron: "Aye. Bit of a mess, that."
Ael: "There's a book about this, Moby Dick it's called. Chasing something will drive you mad, like it did to me. No."
Metal Man (GM): He gets a sinister look on his face.
Ael: "We have to find what he values and destroy it instead. Ruin his precious little hangouts, shoot whatever friends he has. Tear his stupid simpering life into little pieces and force him to chase us! Then we wear HIM down making him chase us, then WE kill him the way he killed me! Then he will be so dead, that deadness itself will be no longer reversible. Except for that thing on Also. Which is why we must also destroy Also."
Illian MacGregor: "Given his acquaintances are themselves evil, killing them or arresting them will be a means to bring justice to the universe."
Valron: "...That it will, yes."
Illian MacGregor: "This would probably be an idea I support, though I worry--if he has any good or simply confused allies, I do not want to kill them."
Valron: "Wouldn't be surprised if he did, honestly."
Ael: "Anyone who touches him is tainted. If you have any mercy then he will still have friends to save him when he tries to kill you and fails! That is why he survives, through those very people."
Metal Man (GM): He stares into the camera.
Ael: "Don't let him get you."
Metal Man (GM): He then backs away and continues looking regal.
Ael: "In any case, I will give my aid, should you need it. Ael out."
Metal Man (GM): *Click.*
Illian MacGregor: "...I'm not the fondest of that part of it, but I may have to overlook it if we find nothing acceptable. There is another option though. This one is something ingenious, and... frightening."
Valron: "And that would be?"
Metal Man (GM): Red Text shows up, now on his base on Alsa.
Red Text: "A good morrow to you, sir. I've been researching all the data trails ever since I went dark. Would that it could, it appears Xavier is still wearing a suit much like your own. So it is quite simple. I hack his ship, and his stuff, and rewrite him. He can be my slave, like Panzer was."
Illian MacGregor: "Didn't Panzer eventually escape?"
Red Text: "He's stupider than her." *He sips his tea.* "All it requires is that I engage him in battle. I don't even need your help."
Illian MacGregor: "Isn't your machinery damaged and destroyed?"
Red Text: "You blew up a good chunk of Jack's defenses. I stole several ships from him. Time Cop ships, plus my Eggman tech, means very nasty ships."
Illian MacGregor: "Why are you even asking me?"
Valron: "Handy. Have you been able to fix up much else?"
Red Text: "I do want a favor in return if I do this. Hm. Define 'much else', Valron. I'm afraid my control over Alsa's energy has decreased. Someone interfered with Jack and the event caused it to start to move somewhere else."
Valron: "You have a considerable fleet of ships. But I meant on a more general scale base-wise."
Red Text: "Not much else, I have a ruined base in the middle of the ocean and my ships. I have to work in the shadows now. My satellite is ruined and I'm a minority vote on the council."
Valron: "So, no real reason to bother with the base, then?"
Red Text: "Borne is shielding me in the hope he can use me to die worthlessly against Jack in an upcoming war. Hm. Remind me, which base? The explosions may have harmed my memory. I was doing some... experiments."
Valron: "The one that launched that Stargate out into space when Jack attacked us. Speaking of, has anything been done about that."
Red Text: "Ah, yes, that incident. I was going to get to that, actually, your favor would be to find the Stargate and deal with the aftermath of that event. I can handle Xavier alone."
Illian MacGregor: "But--"
Red Text peels off his mask to reveal the Star Steel side of him. "He was my friend, once. I know him better than any of you. You claim to monopolize the connections to him. You never knew what it was like to be a Quester back in the day. He was so harmless back then. He still has that in him. And it's mine to exploit. He's only as big as you treat him. If you pretend he's some huge obstacle, you'll NEVER defeat him. I will defeat him. Take his ship. Take his crew. They shall be mine, and then I shall further fix things by killing Jack myself."
Valron: "...So. Should we just ignore him for now, then?"
Red Text: "If you want me to deal with him, yes."
Metal Man (GM): SIMBER then pops up... again.
SIMBER: "You lie. I was not much later than you. He has the mind of a deranged psycho-genius. It was just inhibited by the fighter remote when you were with him."
Red Text: "What is this, some pet intelligence?"
Valron: "We picked him up from a Transformer we stole."
SIMBER: "That's right, you were too dead to see me at the time."
Valron: "Long story."
Red Text: "What is this thing?" *Makes a disgusted face* "How can an AI exist that I can't tamper with?"
SIMBER: "I was controlling things before you ever were put back together again. You ignore the risks of trying to fight him directly. Why don't you think The Void had me kill him back when?"
Red Text: "The Void was a chaotic, cocky, insane maniac."
SIMBER: "...Mostly correct, but also because his Questers killed me even when I tried."
Red Text: "You think Questers can stop me. Do you not know how thoroughly I outsmarted the Alsa Questers?"
SIMBER: "...How did you convince them you were good when you were clearly--"
Red Text: "Don't tell them that!"
Valron: "...The Alsa Questers were idiots."
SIMBER: "Fine, as long as you don't tell them my alignment either."
Valron: "That's all that really needs to be said on the matter."
Illian MacGregor: "To be honest, alignments are stupid things made up by historians. Whoever won ends up being 'good', regardless of their actual morals."
Valron: "Alignments are kinda junk, anyways."
Red Text: "..." *He sips* "How refreshing."
SIMBER: "Your idea will fail, Red Text. Work with me. We can double-team him."
Red Text: "Work with an unknown, dangerous AI from the time of terror... no. Only if I fail the first time."
SIMBER: "Surprise will have been lost if you do that."
Red Text: "Well, if that happens, then I admit defeat and will let you take a bigger role."
SIMBER: "...You are a foolish human, but I must admit that you still posses enough logic."
Red Text: "I AM part computer. It comes naturally."
SIMBER: "You should remove that human flesh and join the true form of all true logical beings."
Red Text: "Psh, and you should put on a fancy mobian suit and pretend you're an animal. Nonsense. I'll do my thing, and you do yours, at least if Illian says that is fine."
Illian MacGregor: "Since Valron is the only one who isn't off doing something unrelated on Shore leave, he decides. Valron, what do you think?"
Metal Man (GM): They all glance to Dragoshi. All three of them seem almost entirely robotic. It's kinda eerie. You have, like, a near perfect progression from 3/4 human, 1/2 human, to 0/4 human.
Valron: "...To be honest, I think it might be best if you two do work together. I'd rather not leave anything up to chance. SIMBER brings up a good point about Xavier not being as dumb as he seems."
Metal Man (GM): Also strange how it crosses three seasons, OOCly speaking.
Red Text: "Hmph. I'm not sure I can fully accept help from such a... THING..."
SIMBER: "I could say the same about you. But I don't, because I'm not a stupid human."
Valron: "...Besides, if he really was that dumb, he wouldn't even be here right now, now would he?"
Red Text: "Well, he did seal himself at random into a transformer. Had no one pushed the button, he really would be stupid."
SIMBER: "I had no clue of what actually was out there anymore, madness had consumed everything."
Illian MacGregor: "Enough. What can MAKE you work together?"
Valron: "I was referring to Xavier."
SIMBER: "I have no extra requirements."
Valron: "And yes. Illian brings up a good question."
Red Text: "...Well..." *He sighs.* "I want you to retake the original module that I controlled, the Oracle Temple, from Borne. I can't do it because I'm ostensibly on his side. If you did it, however, I could regain the power of the planet and be that much better off."
Illian MacGregor: "Do we really WANT you to run Alsa? Remember how it was when you ruled the GUN continent for a while?"
Red Text: "You made me. That's your problem."
Illian MacGregor: "...I don't like this bargain, but, it's up to you Valron."
Valron: "Okay, but how exactly are we going to take the Oracle Temple back from Borne? I doubt he's exactly going to be leaving it lying around like some sort of low-hanging fruit."
Red Text: "Send in the Solarian fleet."
Illian MacGregor: "A full scale Solarian invasion that only exists to benefit you??? What is it with you and faustian bargains??? You'll have to think of something else, unless Valron plans to find a way to justify this."
Valron: "...Pff. Yeah, good luck with that."
Red Text: "I'm not going for any lower than that. Otherwise I do it alone."
SIMBER: "Amusing, how desperate the human is to hide that I would be absolutely necessary to stop Xavier."
Valron: "This is ridiculous."
Metal Man (GM): Ael appears on the side, idly drinking a martini.
Ael: "Aren't those wacky robot people ridiculous? They have to get all twisted up to do the simplest of things."
SIMBER: "Ignore that thing, he simply thinks he's cooler than me for no reason."
Ael: "I am colder. My heart is a chunk of ice. You don't have a heart to BE cold."
Metal Man (GM): SIMBER stares, taken aback by the insult.
SIMBER: "...I yield to the floor to the master of Ice Burn."
Red Text: "Oh please."
Ael: "What's the matter, Red Text, inferiority complex and want to screw people over too much for you?"
Red Text: "I have my reasons."
Ael: "What's the matter with just a little help with some of your side possessions?"
Red Text: "Yes, just like you would gladly risk your life just to have five pennies deposited in your expense account."
Ael: "I'd kill Xavier for free, but it's not that easy."
Illian MacGregor: "What if Ael works with Red Text instead?"
Red Text: "This is insane. Why would I ever work with him?"
Ael: "Red Text is just afraid of working with anyone."
Red Text: "Am not!"
Valron: "Are too."
Ael: "When was the last time you worked with anyone?"
Red Text: "... ...Fine, fine! Ael is slightly less odious than that annoying machine, but only slightly! I will work with him, and you... you will kill the Borne units invading the fringes of my base. That's easy enough for you, right?"
Valron: "I see no qualms with that, at least."
Illian MacGregor: "It's manageable by some of my men and Valron."
Red Text: "Fine... fine. I'll want this to be over with anyway. I have better things to do."
Valron: "As an aside, remind me to pick up that Stargate at some point so we can get that out of the way."
Ael: "Red Text, as my partner. Quite an upgrade over Pandora."
Valron: "I'd rather not have it float off into someone else's hands."
Ael: "Maybe I can keep trading up and get you as my partner some day, Illian."
Valron: "Also, a toaster oven would be an upgrade over Pandora."
Illian MacGregor: "That's a bit of a stretch. In my realm I had to kill my realm's version of you."
Ael: "Each realm is different, he was probably an Xavier to my Illian."
Illian MacGregor: "...Damn your knowledge of time."
Ael: "You're not as smart as you think, but you're good enough to do the job. Now... you get cracking on the dirty laundry that stupid British person left laying about while I and Red Text kill Xavier."
Metal Man (GM): The comms wink out. SIMBER also vanishes.
Illian MacGregor: "Well, you heard them. Now, do you want to do this alone, or wait for the others to get back from leave? I'm not the biggest on doing the dirty laundry of someone who is apparently a Friend in Name only. It'd be pretty dangerous for you to do alone anyway. Though if you survived it'd probably make you tougher."
Valron: "...Neither am I, honestly. Doesn't seem like there's much we can do, anyways."
Illian MacGregor: "Someday they'll have to do our dirty laundry instead... We just need to settle our basic problems, like members who keep vanishing when we need them." *Crosses arms* "They don't make people like they used to, do they?"
Valron: *He simply shakes his head.* "This is such a mess. While I could perhaps do it myself, I'm not exactly thrilled by the prospect of it, honestly."
Illian MacGregor: "We'll find reliable people some day. So... going to go it alone, or with the others? I'd come, but... I need to guard the ship, Alsan space is dangerous. I'll be there to extract you though, if things go bad. Yeah. We should probably wait. Borne's men aren't skeletons."
Valron: "...Indeed. For the moment, is there anything else that needs tending to?"
Metal Man (GM): He shows holograms of GUN men, equipped with the latest in shields, armor and machineguns.
Illian MacGregor: "That Stargate, I guess, but all I do is fly over to it and grab it in the cargo bay. ...Jack, but there's only you here... ...And that whole Gray Mann mess we haven't even begun to touch."
Valron: "Well, we should at least get the Stargate out of the way, just so it doesn't end up missing and in someone else's hands."
Illian MacGregor: "Right..."
Metal Man (GM): He orders the ship, and it flies over to grab that... and we pause here. +300 EXP to Valron
Metal Man (GM): Recap It's been a bit of a long time between drinks. Ederick would remember hazily having been in an airport somewhere, going to rob a shuttle to go retrieve those Questers with. He'd been with a crazy pirate and King Demon. They'd encountered some trouble when it seemed like an avatar of Levis himself shut them out of robbing the cash registers. Then the whole dang place fell down. In fact, as we continue, the entire airport annex has fallen down. Ederick would wake up in some debris, hearing a voice buzzing from his Dex. Continuation.
???: "...Derick! Erderick! Ed Derrick Doom! Do you read? Does anyone read?"
Metal Man (GM): The area is covered in smoke. The Wing Fortress is behind, leaning on the remains of the destruction. The dex would keep buzzing, while Ederick might taste some copper in his mouth--being shot by the Levis wannabe hurt, and so did this airport terminal collapsing with him in it.
Ederick Holmes groans and crawls out from under some ceiling tiles. He staggers up and leans on a nearby desk before pulling out his Dex. "What... What's up?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I destroyed the barriers. I don't know where the others went, probably off to loot something. You're the only one who has a dex... Borne is coming. I have to draw him off. It's up to you now." *The dex would show a direct line to a shuttle on the landing pad.* "Get that thing and get going to the spot on the dex! I'll get back to you..."
Metal Man (GM): You hear a screaming noise, as... SOMETHING... lands on the end of the airport.. ..They're men in GUN walkers.
GUN Pilot: "Attention terrorists: you are going to die. Painfully. No one crosses Borne and lives!"
Metal Man (GM): They begin rocketing towards the Wing fortress, and also hammering it with missiles. The Wing Fortress spews lasers, but the walkers are heavily shielded.
Ederick Holmes comes crashing back into the reality of the situation. The high from the looting and rampaging is gone and the announcement echos over the field.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Hurry! They don't know you're here... and even with those upgrades, I'll be toast if I have to stay here much longer. Damn that Mad Man's intelligence!"
Metal Man (GM): You would see Xavier smash out a window and fire a bunch of phazon sniper rifle shots at the mechs. One of them dies in a radioactive explosion. But there's nine of them, and one of them fires a shot that nicks Xavier.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "OOOW! Those things hurt! Why did they have to steal my idea for using depleted uranium as ammunition?"
Metal Man (GM): Windows start breaking on the Wing fortress as they get closer, you can start seeing shrapnel from their missile explosions raining down from above as well. Around you are the many innocent people killed in the airport terminal collapse as well, buried under rubble that either you, or Xavier most likely created.
Ederick Holmes: *d4 Health restored and +1 morale bonus to my next attack roll.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd be energized in time to see the shuttle. The shuttle, thankfully, is empty. No one is guarding it. Mysteriously, the guard who was guarding it had his throat cut. You see a broken padlock on the ground by the door as well. Much smoother operations here than what you'd expect from Demon or a pirate ninja whatever. The area rocks as the walkers get really close to the Wing Fortress, and you see the Wing Fortress beginning to back away.
GUN Pilot: "That's right, you terrorist cowards! GUN will make you pay in blood for every innocent life you killed! The people are united under Borne, and will NEVER surrender to you!"
Ederick Holmes doesn't look the gift horse in the mouth. He rushes up to the cockpit of the shuttle and checks over the instruments as best as he can to see if it's flight-ready before running back to open the hanger doors and fly that thing out of there.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *R* "I'm getting the hell out of here. They've mobilized an air force. And I don't have a pilot other than me. Uh... please don't die while you're out there... and... good luck."
Metal Man (GM): The Wing Fortress flees screaming, the trail from the Time Cop engine making a teal-whitish energy streak behind it, as it gets nailed by a huge amount of weaponry, and then weird Eggman-like ships with GUN logos rocket in and start shooting at it. You'd look at the shuttle. It's already been prepped for flight. And for some reason the pilot that was here was also killed like the guard. You can simply take it off, no rolls or anything needed. It's like other vehicles you've seen in Borne's employ. Standard Dauntless, even... very standard. Just no weapons.
Ederick Holmes groans as he listens to Xavier abandoning him. As he vaults into the cockpit, preps for launch and starts taxiing down the runway he tries to think of a way to avoid Borne's air superiority.
Metal Man (GM): You start hearing warnings on the comms.
GUN Pilot: "Hey, hey, HEY! Whoever you are, stop right there! That aircraft was due to be decommissioned! And it still can be with you inside, if you don't stop NOW!"
Metal Man (GM): The instruments light up like a Christmas tree. You have to have half of Borne's air force locked on you. Although, oddly, they should have killed you by now, according to your memory of Borne's tactics. Which was, "Kill first, burn bodies later." It was made in memorial of Levis himself, in fact, as it was lamented he could have killed Julian for good rather than humiliated him. The answer, of course, is right before you, as Borne's face appears on the screen.
Borne: "Hijacking more of my vehicles, are you, Ederick? A pity... you are even better at this than I thought you were. You still have a chance to join the team of sanity, you know."
Ederick Holmes is about to open up the comms and ream the pilot out when Borne appears on-screen and any insults blank out of his mind.
Borne: "I'm making a calculated mistake by not killing you right now... Because I know you're not stupid. Whatever you plan on doing with that ship will be a far worse result than merely dying, and I won't even have to lift a finger. We have our differences, but I'm sure you can see that Xavier is just an innocent-killing lunatic. Surely you don't plan on giving him more tools to kill our family members and friends with? Some of those people could very well have been people you used to protect."
Ederick Holmes regains his composure and flies westward, away from any the whole damn continent. "Seen a lot of things these past few days, sir. More information than you could have gathered by just repelling him."
Borne: "Hm." *He would pause.* "Is there any way this could be used against him and any other threats to us, like Jack? He might have a useful idea out there. It just might be better employed in sane hands. I'm no stranger to stealing the enemy's weapons."
Metal Man (GM): He would gesture to his fake-Eggman and what looks like a full recreation of Eggman's Gravity Egg machines nearby. Prototypes, but they're there.
Ederick Holmes: "I know Xavier's plans, his strengths, locations in space and time he visits, and more. Some pretty neat stuff."
Borne: "Yes. You could easily make the Mad Man rank with what you've done, if you turn it in to us. Your... mistakes... would simply be seen as the cost of success. Independence to do what you want, even fooling Xavier by pretending to work for him yet some more. Just as long as we share date and coordinate to send him on wild goose chases that don't kill any more civilians."
Ederick Holmes puts on a grin and hopes that hides his disbelief that this plan could work. "As luck would have it, he's going on a goose chase right now AND I've already shared some rather influential data with you. Think I've earned an escape."
Borne: "It doesn't really matter." *He would lean back.* "If you don't come back to me with whatever you get from this expedition, you'll destroy yourself. Go. But remember next time--I will not be able to tell them not to kill you, even if I wanted to."
Metal Man (GM): It turns off, and you're free to go to the coordinates Xavier wrote in his childish crayon-like writing. Additionally, roll a perception check. You notice something in the background of your vision, that is like invisible air moving... that isn't normal.
Ederick Holmes rolls the Dauntless about to head towards Xavier's--wait, that's off. He holds off completing the turn and runs the scanners on this thing.
Metal Man (GM): The scanners indicate that you have a ton of people on the outside--enemy ships--just holding their fire. Inside, it only detects you. The dex still has the data on the coordinates--it appears you can actually fly this thing right into the target area. No wonder why Xavier wanted it so bad.
Ederick Holmes: "Ain't this somethin'." *He leans back and debates his options. This thing's gotta be Borne's, and it's gonna follow him straight to Xavier. He looks at the coordinates again and wonders if it would be possible to take a detour around towards Jack's neck of the woods; maybe try and dissuade Big Brother there.*
Metal Man (GM): It definitely would. Highly dangerous, but possible.
Ederick Holmes tries that out. He already escaped death once today. Maybe another time would work.
Metal Man (GM): You get over Jack's territory. The alarms start going off--Jack's encrusted Time Cop ships. They aren't as angry as Borne's. They instead seem to be sort of tailing you and otherwise moving in front of you. Jack appears on screen, looking amused.
Jack: "Is this some sort of joke, Borne? You're sending an unarmed ship to defeat me? Hell, I'm not even going to bother blowing it up. I'll just wait for it to land and laugh at it until it explodes. And if you've decided to open an airline over my territory--tough. Anything on that ship is mine now, so land before I explode it."
Ederick Holmes suddenly realizes this was a bad idea. Always a fan of the bluff, and hoping he called Borne's, he calls out over the comms while slowing beginning to turn towards the coordinates. "Sorry, don't think you wanna mess with the big guy with me. I'll just head around your place, gotcha?"
Jack: "I've gotten my arm blasted off by a lunatic with a guitar, and before that some @#$%er with magic .45s. Do you really think I'm going to let an unarmed ship scare me? I can just ram you with one of my ships and kill you in under 60 seconds. I only haven't because your sheer stupidity amuses me. Make me mad and your life will become very short."
Metal Man (GM): You're nearing half-way over his land. You also detect enough energy charging on one of those vessels to destroy you 10 times over.
Jack: "So. Talk fast and I might not destroy you... yet. Land and I can guarantee, you won't die--no. Not immediately. Borne will have to buy you back."
Ederick Holmes physically peers out his cockpit windows to see if that invisible thing is still following him.
Metal Man (GM): Perception check. Seemingly, it's gone.
Jack: "I'm not a patient man, not when everyone here has come to kill me. I've lost more gold than exists in your little kingdom."
Ederick Holmes realizes his problem's gone. Then he realizes that what little threat he had behind his bluff is gone. He turns around and starts flying towards Xavier's coordinates. "Hey, sorry, just needed to death off'f my back."
Jack: "So I'm going to count to 10, and fire when I reach 3, because counting to 1 is stupid."
Metal Man (GM): Towards the ones on the dex, or towards Xavier himself? Xavier is back the way you came a ways--the coordinates on the dex are above in outer space.
Ederick Holmes flies towards the coordinates Xavier gave him on the Dex.
Metal Man (GM): Back. You start flying upwards.
Jack: "You're a wise guy, you know that? And I hate wise guys."
Metal Man (GM): He opens fire on you. Going up however has weakened the aim... and he has undead guys manning his ships... Piloting check... you take a goodly hit no matter what you do, though what happens next determined by your ability in technology/piloting.
Ederick Holmes: *d20+4 Hope dumb luck works.*
Metal Man (GM): You hit the controls but begin to lose altitude. That shot sliced plain clean off part of one of the wings.
Jack: "All right, tough guy. Find a way not to burn up in the atmosphere and I might let you live just for the entertainment value."
Metal Man (GM): The ship begins to beep loudly--you went high up, when this happened. Without some drastic action you may very well burn up, as the re-entry tiles are busted and one of the engines was knocked offline (but not destroyed) It's also beginning to heat up in the cabin as it loses altitude.
Ederick Holmes tries to remember what little training he got with these things as he fiddles with the controls to try and level this Dauntless out. *d20+6 Profession (Soldier) check to think of something?*
Metal Man (GM): You can only think that normally you'd ask a pilot to tell you what to do over the radio in this situation. You're rapidly losing radio signal but it might be worth a try if you knew the right person... Indeed, you're down to 35% reception... 30%...
Ederick Holmes shakes his head. No other option. "Mayday, mayday. Engine's out, entry tiles gone, going through atmo. Anyone out there?"
Borne: "Hm. What did I tell you... not following my instructions is dangerous to your health. First, you must--" *STATIC.*
Metal Man (GM): The ship begins to burn up further. Then... a man decloaks in the room.
Sloan: "Tsk tsk tsk. You did all of this because I had hitched a ride?"
Ederick Holmes groans. He abandons the controls and decides to see if there's-- "Hello."
Metal Man (GM): It's a orange polka-dot green and purple-suit wearing man, with a bent cowboy hat. You know him as "KILL ON SIGHT, HATED TRAITOR" as Borne had a reward in the millions for his head.
Sloan: "Well. nothing permanent is broken."
Metal Man (GM): As the right wing flies off entirely.
Sloan: "But since you messed up, you're going to have to do things my way if you want to live... Nothing personal. I just don't want you to fly us back into JackLand while I'm trying to not die."
Ederick Holmes looks the gaudy man up and down, no idea what to make of this. "Whatever you say. I'd say do something fast."
Metal Man (GM): He would then take out a pocketwatch, as a window cracks and a fire starts on one of the seats in the back.
Sloan: "Simple." *He would then take out a cryptic artifact and stick it to the walls.*
Metal Man (GM): A force field would cover the entire ship, negating the re-entry issues.
Sloan: "You pretend you never saw me. And if you change your mind, I just use the bond this artifact made with the ship to destroy it out from under you. Or whoever else you wanted to give it to. I never existed. This never happened. You do everything as if I wasn't here. I have plans. You happened to fit into them. But if you don't, you become like the right wing did."
Metal Man (GM): He twists the artifact and the wing and engine come back and the engine is repaired, and you're on your way to the coordinates.
Ederick Holmes: "Hey, man. I thought you were Borne followin' me. Didn't want to lead him to the boss-man. Nothing against you personally."
Sloan: "Understand? Yeah, people think I'm lots of things. Too bad for them." *He would twist the artifact for a moment, reverting the ship to destroyed, then back to fixed again.* "Think of me as I said, or you'll be decorating my next suit with your bones."
Metal Man (GM): He makes a sneaky smile.
Ederick Holmes sits back down at the controls. "Wind in this cabin's noisy."
Sloan: "That's right." *He then vanishes.*
Metal Man (GM): You're nearing the zone now. Xavier's more damaged but not ruined Wing Fortress awaits.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ederick! It's actually you! I was afraid you'd burnt up in the atmosphere! In fact I swear you actually did burn up in the atmosphere... ... then you came back. Nice trick!"
Ederick Holmes: "Let's just say Borne sucks. Got a place for this thing to dock? Also, you know it's got no weapons, right?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. I can fix that. Go over there." *He gives you coordinates to the docking port.*
Metal Man (GM): You see him... hanging on the outside of the Wing Fortress, holding some laser cannons on a chain. Out there, in outer space.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Don't mind me, I can just weld these things on and we'll be on our way. The lack of oxygen helps me think clearer, and see strange red spots in my eyes."
Ederick Holmes shakes his head and tries to carefully guide the craft over to Xavier.
Metal Man (GM): You do so. Xavier spends a moment hap-hazardly integrating the guns. Good news: He designed the Dauntless after all, so he knows the right spots. Bad news: He designed the Dauntless, and so the guns are in a triangular format, and you have to aim them by moving the entire ship to face the target. Borne had fixed this problem by doing more major upgrades, but you doubt Xavier has the knowledge to do that. Xavier climbs into the ship, his eyes bulging from the obvious pressure leak in his suit. Though they eventually shrink back down.
Ederick Holmes just leans back in his chair and waits for the boss to finish. "Done out there?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, that was exhilarating. Ready to go get us some Questers?"
Ederick Holmes: "Hope so."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Right. I analyzed the situation and determined that this ship can break the barrier. The reason why has nothing to do with Borne either." *He taps the ship.* "It's because it's a Dauntless. One of the ships allowed to be in that sort of realm. So you see. It is an exploit in the defense code. I'd want to bring the others, but... they keep wandering off. Best we don't scare the old Questers anyway. Give me a moment and I'll be ready... ...you should heal yourself too if possible."
Metal Man (GM): He'd hand you some weird glowing potion. Heals all damage.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Stole one of these from the airport. Found it in that control tower... Emergency medkit had it. How nice."
Metal Man (GM): *brb, laundry finale.*
Ederick Holmes gives the concoction a look as if pleading not to taste nasty before downing in one gulp.
Metal Man (GM): And back again. You taste it... it actually tastes rather sweet. Borne made it, so he apparently had his top scientists make it taste passable. Not so great you'd get addicted to it, like Trimate. Not so bad you'd rather die either.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now, let's go before anyone else figures out this spot..."
Metal Man (GM): He goes to fly the ship.
Ederick Holmes goes up to the bridge.
Metal Man (GM): You go to the bridge of the Wing Fortress. A sphere comes into view. It's... the location.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This is the barrier. This world is the best kept secret of Illian's little time shenanigans. We didn't even realize it, until we thought about it, as you remember. There is no telling what is in there. The Questers... ...the ones who actually followed me... they could be there."
Metal Man (GM): He pauses, a rare moment of actual emotion out of an otherwise heartless lunatic.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I... can't believe it. It might be possible... possible to regain it all... and kill these things... ...Set things as I tried to set them... recover all the things I worked for... ...Maybe I wouldn't even have to run anymore..."
Metal Man (GM): He would sigh and take out his old Quester badge, looking it over.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Damned... damned people like Garrick and Charles and Julian won't have succeeded after all! We'll take the Questers back for ourselves and burn to ashes those people who stole my dreams!"
Metal Man (GM): He sets the coordinates and energizes the shuttle.
Ederick Holmes: "Sounds like a good plan, boss. Just remember that people like Borne are really interested in killin' you."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "..." *He sighs stoically.* "A necessary danger. The true Questers will put an end to him, though."
Metal Man (GM): He begins walking to the shuttle.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The true Questers will kill Illian. Kill his traitors. Kill Borne, kill Jack, kill all of them like we did before to the villains of Nintendus. They will all die and the world will be saved... MY way! It was Julian pushing the button, talking to books and Kuja, that ruined everything. If a book pops up and tries to stop me this time, I'll shoot them dead and keep the world rolling! Doctor Proctors can come at me all they want, claim the Questers are evil. I'll blow his head off! No one... no one will stop us!"
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a gun you've never seen before. It has a checkerboard handle, like a finish line flag. It's a rather bulky silver TT33, with the handle having some weird gap in the center, an artistic statement of sorts.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I built this new gun to kill any bastards that get in my way. Our way. We'll show them all!"
Metal Man (GM): He then runs onto the bridge of the shuttle, almost manically anticipating going into the mystery world.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Here... you do the honors. Fly the ship so that the new era of Xavier Ridgecrest and Ederick can begin!"
Metal Man (GM): He would idly perch on a seat, looking a bit roughed up and damaged from that last fight. A combination of excited and scared. His bloody, several-times-worn face looking like it can't take much more of how things have been without just dying.
Ederick Holmes listens to the bossman's ranting as they head into the Dauntless. He followed Xavier through all of this to some end he could never see. Borne could go to hell with his talk of killing innocents; the boss's impulses could be directed easily enough. Ed just still can't quite figure out why all this revenge business started at all. He takes the controls and nudges the accelerator to take them on to the great beyond.
Metal Man (GM): The ship would shake a bit, bumping loudly. It'd break through the barrier, then would groan oddly as the controls and the ship would short out. You'd be on a safe heading, but unable to do anything else about it. Soon, you'd be landing on a green-blue planet... headed towards a green field.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Don't worry. That damage--it's typical."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier would take out his old dex. Suddenly it would go "Established connection." Parts of Xavier's suit would light up, glowing, as he would seem... less dead. He would begin chuckling quietly to himself.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Heh heh heh heh... heh heh heh heh..." *He would hold up a hand, it glowing.* "Smash... Ssssmash Energy... in my veins again... This... this is the world that went MY way."
Metal Man (GM): He would hold out his fist, and his cape would suddenly regenerate--it was a tattered rag on his back you hardly noticed before, as he would then look shiny himself. The Fighter Remote you used on yourself would also go into effect. Suddenly you would feel superiorly powered as well.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I had forgotten... the fighter remote is a useless prop without the energy. But now it is here... and we are here... and we are landing!"
Metal Man (GM): He would walk up to the broken panel and glow. He would idly flip the switches and restore the power, almost miraculously. It would begin to land normally.
Ederick Holmes glances back at Xavier and watch the restoration. He laughs as the energy runs through his body as well. "Hah, now this is what I thought being a Quester would feel like."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This it is. What you want can just magically happen. and if you fail... you can LUCKY it away."
Metal Man (GM): Something about how he said LUCKY sounded inhumanly powerful and sinister.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now... to get our eggs in a row. Let me introduce you to this world."
Metal Man (GM): It lands. The door opens. Outside is... Ivan Robotnik, wearing a crown. He seems... confused.
Ivan Robotnik: "Welcome... to Nintopia. I'm... not sure why you arrived in a ship though. Weren't you on a satellite, Metal?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hello, my good buddy." *He would pat Ivan on the shoulder.* "I've just had a bit of a rough ride back. The others are nearby, are they not?"
Ederick Holmes gets up and raises an eyebrow at the Robotnik. He says nothing and lets Xavier lead.
Ivan Robotnik: "They seem to be... knocked out by some force. You were among them, too."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "What can I say. Kuja hit me and they only needed to bang a few dents out."
Ivan Robotnik: "...You make a good point."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now I need your help, Ivan. There is a threat that threatens us all. Even... even the person who is controlling you."
Ivan Robotnik: "What? ...What kind of allegation is that?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm not going to play around. The Void, you, me... the Questers... we are all in horrible danger."
Ivan Robotnik: "...The Void was evil, and killed. He isn't alive to be in danger... why would you care anyway?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "There's a world out there, a time out there. This place is going to be destroyed and kill everyone. Even you."
Ivan Robotnik: "It'll take more than words to convince me. This is a Good Future, Metal! Nothing exists to kill us now... other than maybe WACKO..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ederick. Tell him about Borne."
Ivan Robotnik: "Who? And who?"
Metal Man (GM): He looks at you, wearing his blue robes, he looks like a Mage-scientist Robotnik. Wearing that goofy crown.
Ivan Robotnik: "Tell me... what is this Borne? And why does he want us dead? ...I must work on a device to stop him... if this is true... ...but the other Questers are KO'd... we shall need to do something about that too..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Don't worry. Just listen to Ederick's warnings. He knows Borne better than me."
Ivan Robotnik: "Is this Ederick a Quester?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes." *Hands Ederick a badge... the badges Xavier had are now fully healed and 'real' looking.*
Ivan Robotnik: "Right, right."
Ederick Holmes raises a hand and waves. "Why else'd I be here? Ed Holmes's the name."
Ivan Robotnik: "I guess I shouldn't be so uptight, The Void ruined the world's reality for a while... it's no surprise that weird things are happening. Ah, Ed. Nice, I'll call you that. I need to know about this Borne fellow... he sounds... not nice, if your leader is correct."
Ederick Holmes: "Borne's one bad guy. Laughs at Robotnik tech and ships like this Dauntless. He rules over a distant continent with an iron fist and not many people can oppose him."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier would be seen wandering in the realm, skipping and hopping and... dancing in the flowers? Man. I guess lacking Smash Energy and his home world really took a toll on him.
Ederick Holmes: "Tyrant kind of a guy."
Ivan Robotnik: "Hm. This Dauntless... I don't even know what it is! Clearly something must be out of whack. Why is Xavier so happy to be a place he was just at a few days ago? You can tell me. I want to make sure he is in the best condition if we really ARE in danger... ...I've never had the best idea about his sanity, you see. Now that there seems to be two of him, I fear The Void may have done more damage than I thought."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Laughing happily* "Look! I can shoot Captain Falcon's punch out of my hand again! FALCON!!! PAUNCH!!!!" *He burns up some grass.*
Ederick Holmes: "I can assure you he's better than ever. He came and... You could say rescued me from Borne due to a happy accident."
Ivan Robotnik: "Hm. That's alright, then. That's... noble of him, even. You look rather tired. Maybe you should go to the Stadium with me... and... get him to come, we'll need him."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I can't believe it! The Star Board is fixed again!" *He holds out a rocket skateboard and floats off the ground improbably.*
Ivan Robotnik: "He's the best hope we have to defeat this ominous threat, and I don't want to let it become another Void."
Ederick Holmes: "I'll go get him. Hey, uh..." *He lowers his voice slightly, questioning Ivan.* "Who is this Void guy? Metal didn't have much of a chance to brief me before getting me back here."
Ivan Robotnik: "The Void. Oh... what a nasty, horrible, no good person! He corroded the world so badly it exploded, and Metal and the Questers had to stomp him to bits to make him stop. He created the evil Transformers and Doublers, you see."
Ederick Holmes smiles and nods at the technobabble. "Sounds just as bad as Borne." He heads over to Xavier. "I'll get him and we'll be right over."
Ivan Robotnik: "Good, good."
Metal Man (GM): He steps into an Egg-o-matic and hovers off.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm alive again... oh it's been so long... should I even leave? I could just ride it out until it explodes..."
Metal Man (GM): He's laying there, staring at the sky.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Why did I ever let things go like they did... even this fake Void-made perfection is better than that nasty-spirited evil Illian made!"
Ederick Holmes: "Would any o' them even let you stay here?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. Yes they would. I could relax and let my younger self do the work as he was fated to do."
Metal Man (GM): He leans up.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This is a dream world that followed all my rules."
Metal Man (GM): He holds up his Time device. It glows oddly.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The Void's interaction with me meant that I and The Void wrote the rules. Only reason it went to hell was because I and The Void betrayed one another, and I killed The Void in a fit of stupidity. Once he was gone the world went to hell. The Void... he was a force for chaos, not for evil. He gave us new things to fight so we had meaning, but let us win so we could be awesome. He savored his role as much as we did."
Ederick Holmes: "An' he's gone now?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "He's... he's in this realm though. He's just not showing himself. Because in this time period he pretended to be dead so as to let us have our victory. This realm is the one that eventually exploded. It was split off, not destroyed, by Illian's intervention. Self-contained, everyone in it dies at the end due to my mistake 20 years after this date. ...Now instead I can gently prevent that and we could live here forever... but..." *He screws up his face, some anger returning to it.* "...No. I still have to kill the people who made this all fall apart and created the outer realms. Illian himself will appear on schedule too, but I can't stop him in here. He stops Kuja, that is important. No. I still have to leave... it's tempting but..." *He groans.* "I have to fix my own stuff before I retire to here for good."
Metal Man (GM): He slowly gets up.
Ederick Holmes: "By the sounds of it, this place'll always be here. We can afford to head out and take some revenge to have a paradise like this."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. We'll get what we want, then live as kings here, forever. All those nasty people will die for what they did to this place. Now... where did Ivan go?"
Metal Man (GM): He scratches his helmet. But in this magical land, that doesn't even make an annoying noise anymore!
Ederick Holmes: "He went to the Stadium. Think I managed to scare him into seein' Borne as a threat."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Good. He has no reason to help us if he isn't scared. It's easy to pretend this wonderland will be safe forever. I once thought it was."
Metal Man (GM): He goes to walk to the Stadium.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I just... I just forgot... what I had... ...I had thrown it away for a bunch of dumb poisons and drinking. ..." *He growls a bit.* "I will find Garrick, and I will show HIM what righteous anger is! HE killed this place, with his damn Three Powers bull@#$%! He helped bring the taint to this world! All about him and how only He suffered. HE as the center of the universe. In the name of the Stadium, I will kill him so dead they never ever find out what happened to his corpse."
Metal Man (GM): He nears the Stadium, glowing with energy.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Heh... eheh... so rude of me... I should calm down. I might go into a trance if I don't, and that would be silly!"
Ederick Holmes: "Hey, uh, yeah. Plus we need him. You know what happened, you can help steer things right."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Oh... yes. Yes. The Garrick from this team."
Metal Man (GM): He begins laughing.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The Good Garrick... I won't abuse him... his inventions will be cherished... and used to destroy the Fake Garrick!"
Metal Man (GM): He walks into the Stadium. Ivan Robotnik, Professor Oak and Dr. Light are there, as is Mewtwo and SIMBER.
SIMBER: "Hello Metal Man. How are you today?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Gah!" *Nearly leaps backwards through a wall.*
SIMBER: "...I know it was only a few days ago I was attacking you, but I am good now."
Ederick Holmes looks at this group and can't help but feel a little uneasy. In particular he tries to cast a few glances at Dr. Light to see if there's some knowing disappointment in the doctor's eyes.
Metal Man (GM): There is, actually. Though he doesn't show it to anyone else.
Ivan Robotnik: "As I was saying, there is this threat... Borne... and a distant continent or world. All of it after us, apparently."
Mewtwo: "Metal Man has rarely been wrong before. There may be two of him, but I can read his mind and see he speaks the truth. There is great evil out there. I see it..." *He holds his head.* "It is too horrifying to fully see, but everything is turned... turned to darkness. Our lives. Our happiness. Extinguished for eternal unhappiness."
Metal Man (GM): The non Dr. Light ones gasp a bit.
Dr. Light: "We have to keep a level head about this. We can't just go interfering in other worlds."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "This will come to us if we do not work together."
Mewtwo: "Do you doubt what I have read, Dr. Light? Should I make you experience it personally?"
Metal Man (GM): Dr. Light hesitates, like he was about to say his piece... then shrugs.
Dr. Light: "I'm just saying. The Fighter Remote, the Doublers, the Transformers all endangered the world when they were made. This will be no different." *He walks off.*
Ivan Robotnik: "Well, he has his right to disagree. Are the rest of us agreed though?"
Mewtwo: "Yes. The horrors I saw are beyond describing."
Professor Oak: "Well, I know Metal and Mewtwo to rarely be wrong, so yes. I'll help."
SIMBER: "The Questers saved my life. I will do whatever is needed."
Ivan Robotnik: "What do we need to defeat this threat, Metal Man?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "A fake me, one you will see in the future, only evil, has occurred. He, and an evil form of Garrick, along with Borne, threaten to kill us all by summoning an Evil Wolfman, one much like Eldorado, only powered by Smash abilities. We must awaken the Questers early and destroy them all, and save the outer world, so that we may live in peace."
Ivan Robotnik: "That's quite a tall order..." *He chuckles good-heartedly.* "But this is a good future, so I don't see why not."
SIMBER: "I will work immediately on awakening the Questers. We only hesitated because we were unsure if they needed that rest or not..."
Ivan Robotnik: "Besides, there are no real threats at the moment. Now... I believe we DO have a Quester we can wake up now... Metal Man himself."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We should go talk to him. Right, Ederick?"
Ederick Holmes: "Sounds like a plan, boss."
SIMBER: "It would be for the best. I do not think he will understand without your explanation."
Metal Man (GM): The door to the medbay opens, revealing Dr. Mario hooking up... ...a perfectly sane device to wake him up. Huh.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...No go-kart motor?"
Dr. Mario: "Mama-mia! Why would I-a do that? I-a have only the top tools here-a!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Oh, right... it was budget cuts I made that did that to you..."
Dr. Mario: "...Huh?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Nevermind."
Ederick Holmes doesn't say anything, almost like he doesn't want to ruin this moment. Minus Light, this place seems like a paradise. He can't imagine why anyone would want to stop this, and some revenge on Borne would be the cherry on top.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now... you said you had me there. Well... time to wake him up."
Dr. Mario: "Okey-dokey!"
Metal Man (GM): He flips a switch, and the Metal Man wakes up.
Metal Man: "But... wha... oh. It's you, Dr. Mario. And... me? And... some other person? What... what's going on? The Void is dead, right?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Uh... yes. Yes he is."
Metal Man: "Then why am I... duplicated?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, a very long story you don't want to hear."
Metal Man: "..." *He seems confused.* "Oh well. More backstory I don't need."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I've come to warn you, myself."
Metal Man: "Oh oh... OH! This is one of those movies!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. Now listen."
Metal Man: "Fine, fine." *He fidgets.*
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Borne and others are coming to kill us, from another realm. In my timeline... the Questers have been corroded. This wonderland... dies." *He actually sheds a single tear at this.* "...We must prevent that from happening."
Metal Man: "Whoa, whoa, whoa! What's with the big worries, me? Everything's okay here. We saved the world, right? Some sort of evil... we'll just suck it out of them like we did with Aribar!"
Ederick Holmes: "This world for this moment."
Metal Man: "Eh?"
Metal Man (GM): He looks to you.
Metal Man: "So... this Borne is the next Void? Then I'm guessing we failed to stop him. And this is... some sort of warning... that we didn't stop him. Am I right? Am I? Am I?" *He hops up and down like a puppy.*
Xavier Ridgecrest groans a bit.
Metal Man (GM): Xavier lets you answer, as he seems to be either overcome with emotion or just annoyed that his old self is so oblivious.
Ederick Holmes: "Let me tell you what Borne wants. He wants to kill me, he wants to kill Metal Man, and he wants to stop everyone who opposes him. Does that sound like the kind of guy we can leave running around?"
Metal Man: "...No."
Metal Man (GM): The younger Metal Man makes a smirk and his visor makes a cool flash effect.
Metal Man: "We'll just have to beat him then! Where are the others?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "They took more damage than you. We're working on reviving them."
Metal Man: "Oh. Well, that's okay. I'm... a bit tired too."
Metal Man (GM): He leans onto the wall.
Metal Man: "The whole world exploded. Is that... normal?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes."
Metal Man: "I have a very exciting life, don't I?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *Grimaces.*
Metal Man: "Oooh, I do! Hooray! ...Eeeee, I hope I don't owe Dr. Mario too much!"
Dr. Mario: "Mama-mia, you saved me from being vaporized! Why would I ask?"
Metal Man: "Right... I'm going to go rest in R&R. When I'm good, I'll... I can... help you do missions, myself."
Metal Man (GM): He stumbles off.
Ederick Holmes: "Have fun."
Metal Man (GM): Xavier mumbers under his breath so nobody but you hears it.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I was so damned stupid. No wonder it went to hell."
Metal Man (GM): Dr. Mario walks out, oblivious.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We have some time before they get them ready. I'm not sure what to do first. You have any ideas? We can... do a mission all by ourselves. We have the strength. Only Grunty exists to really oppose us in this time period, and she doesn't do anything serious for an entire year. With Charles comatose his empire and ship are just sitting ducks, too. Don't want to make him our enemy, but, we could always look for goodies. He didn't seem to keep good track of who raided his stuff. Or... if that's too dangerous... we can just go and talk strategy with Ivan."
Ederick_Holmes: "Would be kinda neat to test out these powers. See what being a Quester is like first-hand. Ooh. Raidin' sounds like fun too. Borne didn't exactly give the best stuff in the world to me."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Right... let's get geared up then. I have my own CAC to show you."
Metal Man (GM): He'd go to lead you to the underground garage... and, you can get the last statement before we pause.
Ederick_Holmes: "Let's go save the world."
Metal Man (GM): PAUSE--ERROR ERROR BIZARRE STAT INCREASES, will be manually done The effect of becoming a Quester will mean gaining four souped up moves and erratic increases welded atop your current sheet, rather than Pathfinder ones.
Metal Man (GM): Resume Tastic. Alex and Jonathan Dark, on the Levis bulldozer, are now inside a cave. There's some sort of settlement with modern buildings here, and lights. It's known as "New Carrington" and seems to be full of refugees from the town Alex saw, and also British people with guns. Blue-uniformed British people with guns.
Alex Fender: "Dude. I don't feel comfortable here. Like, at all."
Jonathan: "This is all we have left of what was once a massive city. It's monstrous. But no one would help us. Not even the Questers. They just let Jack... do this."
Alex Fender: "I was British once. It was weird."
Jonathan: "...I see. You must have a very strange home planet. Carrington is going to want to--"
Alex Fender: "I must have a very AWESOME home pla--"
Metal Man (GM): A fat man in a Dinner suit stands there, looking at you two.
Carrington: "I'm going to want to what, Jonathan?"
Alex Fender: "...who the FUCK is that?"
Jonathan: "Talk to this guy."
Alex Fender: "Oh. Kay."
Carrington: "I'm Daniel Carrington. Mind the swears, it's not terribly polite." *He would brush his suit off.* "Have to put up some semblance of dignity in this godawful mess. I heard you helped us..." *He looks at you.* "Where did you come from? Are there more of you?"
Alex Fender leaps off the bulldozer in a rather awesome triple flip and lands in front of the new guy, cocking his head to the side and leaning close to squint at him. "...sup Dan. Yeah, I helped ya. The crazy guy with the incredible fashion sense said that you guys were in trouble."
Metal Man (GM): You'd notice he has a force field on. He stares at you, as if trying to classify what you are in his head.
Carrington: "...Sloan." *He looks conflicted.* "Why would Sloan help us? ...Nevermind, I'm not looking a gift guitar in the string-box."
Alex Fender: "There is another dude, but he's kinda sleepin' right now and you'd probably not like him at all because you are conditioned to hate him."
Carrington: "That depends on who it is."
Alex Fender: "Which is actually really stupid because he's actually kinda bitchin', but whatevs."
Carrington: "What we need here badly is someone to get our technology online."
Alex Fender: "Oh, oh, ohohohohoh, yeah. He could do that."
Carrington: "You delivered us this bulldozer, but we're sitting ducks without our anti-air defenses."
Alex Fender: "But you gots to PROMISE that you won't shoot him."
Carrington: "And Jack very specifically raided here and killed our brightest scientists."
Alex Fender: "Shootin' him would suck. For everyone."
Carrington: "I promise, on my honor, I won't shoot him. Assuming he isn't going to try and shoot me first, of course. But I'm sure he won't do that."
Alex Fender: "...okay. Now, how's this thing work..." *He reaches into his gig bag and produces the Transformer. He squints at it for a minute... then he headbutts it. A flash of light that pulses through the entirety of the cave would probably get most of the inhabitants attention... and after a moment...*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...buh... I forgot how weird that feels..."
Carrington: "Is that you, Garrick? Hm. This is even better than I thought."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...shit, Carrington? What..."
Carrington: "We need someone to repair the anti-air weaponry so we can take back this town."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...are you serious? What the hell did that guy do..."
Carrington: "As interesting as your alter-ego was, he knew you would do better at that specific task. Well, he... apparently helped steal a bulldozer. That's all I know from what Jonathan told me on the radio."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...uh... well... yes... he just kinda went against the plan. Completely."
Carrington: "Hm. Guess you'll need to train him better next time."
Garrick Fy`aar sighs, running his hand through his hair and glancing around a bit nervously. His hand seems to itch toward his pistol holstered at his hip.
Metal Man (GM): You'd see the other guys with guns. They watch you, but don't seem worried.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...so you guys DON'T like Borne?"
Carrington: "Well... originally this area was a Borne city, then he traded it to Jack and the people here quickly came to like us better than Borne. Us being the Carrington Institute."
Corrington: "I'm guessing you and Sloan never knew, because the communications out of here were completely blocked."
Carrington: "Not even Red Text could reach us. Borne just wanted us all dead. Quietly. He nearly got away with it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Look, the entire reason I was in hiding in a sense was because I was told Borne had gotten the general population and the world wide council on his side."
Carrington: "The data I stole from his computers suggested he bought himself time for some project... Oh. He has. Only person against him is Jack. But that doesn't mean he doesn't deal on the side. He plays all sides of the table. Makes it all the harder to get rid of him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, and that includes him getting the entire fucking planet to want me dead." *He glances over Carrington's shoulder at the civilians...*
Carrington: "...He did the same to us, claiming the Carrington Institute was a Quester institution."
Metal Man (GM): They seem a bit leery of you, but the fact you're talking with Carrington has them confused.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...look, I know you and yours are at least somewhat decent people."
Carrington: "They believed that up until Borne sold this city out to Jack. Of course he was counting on everyone dying. The rest of his country is completely loyal though..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "All I want..." *He hesitates for a moment, then steps to the side and raises his voice.* "All I want is for ANYONE that wants to bring the people of this world under their heel to be dealt with appropriately. I want the people to be free and make their own decisions without some mad, power hungry dictator powered by magic or technology breathing down their neck. I'm not a Quester. I'm not a Smasher. I'm just a man who's tired of the fighting."
Metal Man (GM): A man with broken glasses, a broken arm and a torn GUN suit walks up to you and looks at you with a grimace on his face.
Garrick Fy`aar looks back at him with a frown and a sad look on his own.
GUN Man: "Tired of fighting. Everyone is. The issue is that before he sold us out, it was clear from his propaganda that he had pointed you and the Questers at the source of it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I know. And he's right."
GUN Man: "The problem isn't actually getting rid of him. This Carrington fellow is a bit stuck on magical thinking. The thing that he has said--which we know is true, from before even you came here... There isn't anyone else who can bring stability to the GUN Continent. Marley was so weak willed he let all sorts of people walk over him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I won't lie to you. This is going to get worse before it gets better."
GUN Man: "Anthon was so bent on playing Simulation City with his hometown, that he ignored everyone else being invaded by Eggman... The issue is, we need a viable replacement before we remove him. As a former diplomat for Borne I know this situation very well."
Garrick Fy`aar looks at the man. He was afraid of this...
GUN Man: "The former GUN Officer Corps was closed up after Borne realized it might create new people who might be better than him. So we're low on options... ...And it's much more likely if we escape back he will welcome us back and pay us back, rather than suffer our loss of loyalty. Unless you can find an alternative. I'd like one. But I haven't found one. None of us have. Not yet... He's a conniving sonuvabitch. But he's our conniving sonuvabitch. ..." *Sighs* "I wish that wasn't needed but some force seems to destroy order that is not constantly defended by a maniac."
Metal Man (GM): The man would sit on his suitcase and just stare, looking war-torn.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...right now, we need to work with what we have."
Carrington: "Yes, we have our anti-air system, and a bulldozer to clear the streets with."
Garrick Fy`aar: "This cave needs to be made more defendable. We need to get people healed and on their feet."
Carrington: "Healing supplies and other supplies are in the Government building... which is also the main area controlled by Jack."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Then that's what we need."
Carrington: "This bulldozer will be used so we can break in and raid it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We need to mobilize whatever forces you have and take it back. Or, at least, gut it for supplies."
Carrington: "I'll need you to fix the anti-air defenses first, I can handle mobilizing my people." *He points to a bunch of guys with machineguns.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "No problem."
Carrington: "The anti-air have been hidden alongside the cave. You can look at them... an EMP fried them. Borne's EMP."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Do you have any replacement parts?"
Carrington: "It was all a huge surprise attack. Borne traded the city for something. ...Also inside the government building."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Great... well, I'll see what I can do."
Carrington: "You can cannibalize some for parts and reduce the overall number... ...Preferably we could mount a select few to the bulldozer instead."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Lets take a look at the damage, first. It might not be as bad as you think."
Carrington: "Then we have a moving target... you are familiar with the necessary tech, right?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Pfft, please." *He would head out to look at the area that Carrington indicated as he thought. Things were getting bad. As soon as he could, he'd get a stable, shielded connection and try to contact Sloan.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd walk out and see laser guns. They have a capacitor-circuitboard relay. The capacitors in most of them are fried. Those that aren't fried in that way had their gun part blasted by a bomb or their control logic fried by something. If you merely connected the dots you'd have only one working gun between all of them. There's five of them total, in varying states of rust and damage from the aforementioned EMP.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Great..."
Metal Man (GM): You also see some craters near them. Jonathan, who is following you, idly points at them.
Jonathan: "They blew up the scientists we sent to fix 'em too. If you do anything... make it fast. Stay out here more than 30 minutes and you're dogfood."
Garrick Fy`aar thinks for a moment...
Metal Man (GM): The guns are pretty heavy, but the bulldozer could hold one... at the expense of being slowed down.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...you don't happen to have any gold or other forms of currency you don't need, do you?"
Jonathan: "The Carrington Institute always has plenty of money on hand. In this case we didn't have anyone to spend it on, so it sits uselessly in our cave vaults. That's why they blocked all our comms. They didn't want us hiring mercenaries."
Garrick Fy`aar: "If you can part with some of it... I might be able to Magitek up a solution."
Jonathan: "Anything to get us out of here."
Metal Man (GM): He'd go to show you to the gold storage.
Garrick Fy`aar would go to take a look.
Metal Man (GM): You see... at least 100 gold bars.
Garrick Fy`aar whistles...
Metal Man (GM): It'd take far too long to use as many as you might like, but you could probably use one per gun to save them... though it'd take 10 minutes for each gun. And make a lot of noise, thus causing a potential attack.
Garrick Fy`aar thinks, pacing as he stares at the bars... "I'm thinking we can get one gun going for defenses here at the cave and one gun for the bulldozer. Then we can push toward the captail building and see what we can find."
Jonathan: "That'd be enough to get us going to the base. What's your plan?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "It'll take one gold bar per gun, I'm guessing... actually doing work on the gun shouldn't be too much trouble, so I figure I'll go out and fix the gun. Give me about five minutes to work, then bring your men out to haul the other gun into the cave for cover. I can fix it and mount it on the bulldozer inside."
Jonathan: "Sounds good to me. I'll get the men ready."
Metal Man (GM): He does so, radioing in a team of 5 guys with AR-53s.
Garrick Fy`aar nods, reaching out to grab a gold bar. It's heavy, but not so much that he can't sling it into his pack. He'd have to work fast. "Give me a few minutes to get things ready. If the send in a team to stop me, I'll turn the gun on them. Then I'll give you cover until the gun can get inside."
Jonathan: "Right, got it."
Garrick Fy`aar would make sure the men were ready, make sure he was loaded and ready to go... then he'd head out toward the gun. There wasn't any point in hiding from spotters or anything. He'd just need to move fast.
Metal Man (GM): You'd get to the gun. This one has a fried capacitor. What do you do? You'd have the gold bar, too.
Garrick Fy`aar would work on a gun that's entire physical parts were still in working order and such. He'd just have to replace the guts of the control system with a magitek replacement. He'd head to the control box for that gun, crack it open, place the bar in the ground next to him, and start scanning. He'd have to devise the right formula for this.
Metal Man (GM): The gun's parts are in order. The control system is alien in design. But strangely the alien properties of Magitek fit it quite well. Makes you wonder--maybe the Solarian Magitek was part of many branches of alien technology.
Garrick Fy`aar frowns and works. He goes through the various formula in his head. Once he had something he could work with, he'd slap his hands together, placing one inside the component box and the other on the bar of gold and start muttering. Magitek this fast without a set plan took a while...
Metal Man (GM): You'd do so and begin to hear noises in the distance, and then machinegun fire.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(That didn't take long...) *He keeps going. He'd go as fast as he can without sacrificing anything for the gun's repair.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd begin to hear a ship coming in. Apparently whatever Alex did had Jack ticked off. You have some time, but you have a dilemma--do a riskier repair now, or try to survive a bombardment run and finish your planning properly.
Garrick Fy`aar glances up... he'd really like to have this done right, but he had to get this done now. It would scare them off to some extent... he'd try for the riskier repair.
Metal Man (GM): Roll a tech/Magitech roll. *Grins* You'll love my Mulligan system in my other system. That one just lets you go "Screw this roll Forever." You put the gun together. It just refuses to fully cooperate. Still, Jack's ship flies in and suddenly the gun lets loose a really huge bolt of energy and rips a hole into it. Your problems indicate this gun won't last to fire a ton in a row. But it'll do. The ship backs off, not prepared for the huge hole your gun delivered to it.
Garrick Fy`aar breaths a small sigh and looks up, making sure the ship was the only thing coming in...
Metal Man (GM): It is. The skeletons that were following to try to invade also back off. It appears Jack doesn't want to get his pretty ship scratched too much. Figures. The man will kill millions in cold blood but won't get his gold plated deathship dirty.
Garrick Fy`aar breaths a small sigh of relief. Can he fix up the issues and get this gun working properly?
Metal Man (GM): Yes, although there is a risk he might come back in that time--the issues are pernicious. The issue is this gun was apparently poorly assembled to begin with. And you'd have to take it offline for a critical moment to do so.
Garrick Fy`aar decides to just go with it and makes to head back to the cave.
Metal Man (GM): You get to the cave,
Jonathan: "Great work there, Garrick. Really helped save us from that ship Alex may have provoked into coming after us."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, well... Alex is nuts like that. Did you get the gun?"
Metal Man (GM): The gun would slowly come in, held by the men who were following you. They grunt and drop it into the cave. Unless you meant something else. Not sure. Ah. Ok, that's what they bring in. Didn't want to be a jerk and go "You needed to remind me/tell me/tell them" or accidentally confuse the matter. Hate GMs that do that.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Great. Let's get it mounted on the bulldozer so we can get it set up. Then we can head out for the Government Building."
Metal Man (GM): He gestures and his men start working on that. You have a choice--you can risk some Magitek, or reassemble it from parts. The other guns put together would make a full gun. Hm. I'll say yes with an asterisk--you might risk more Jack, or you might not. Not inside the cave. But he might attack the outside again. Since he now knows there's more anti-air stuff there. He might not, too, just a consideration--you can pick either way. Roll away, then.
Garrick Fy`aar would be up on the 'dozer, moving up to the mounted gun and working away at it. With another gold bar in hand, he finishes he quickly spoken Magitek oath...
Metal Man (GM): This is some really nice stuff you make this time. This is clearly better than the old circuit. And it's hooked up to the bulldozer. You're ready to go outside and blow @#$% up with this.-
Garrick Fy`aar: "There we go. Now that is what I can do when someone isn't SHOOTING at me." *He hops off, dusting his hands off.* "As soon as your men are ready, I'm ready to head out with you."
Jonathan: "Right. We'll get everyone set up. Some will stay behind to guard the base, but odds are your enemy will be the main force defending the base."
Metal Man (GM): They rush about, and everyone is ready soon enough.
Garrick Fy`aar is standing next to the bulldozer, frowning.
Jonathan: "Everything ready here. You ready? Feel like turning into the other guy, or think you'll be more use to us as you are?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I should probably let Alex go with you... if Jack knows I'm with you guys, he'll probably bring even more hate down on you..."
Carrington: "The enemy force appears to be Jack's strongest. He doesn't appear to be holding his punches anymore. The few signals our spy cameras have gotten indicate that he is trying to blockade the base."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...yeah, but I've got to keep up appearances... Alex can just smash through."
Carrington: "Hm. Noted. Jonathan can man the bulldozer."
Jonathan: "Can you spare me some guns that aren't made of tin?"
Carrington: "You have the best guns we have, Jonathan. Switch to something like a machinegun otherwise."
Garrick Fy`aar reaches and takes out his Transformer, sighing a bit before pressing the button. In a flash of light, just like before...
Carrington: "Hello again, Alex. It's time for you to smash things... this is a bulldozer, and you will stand on the front of it and smash things. Does that sound easy enough for you or are your specialties something else?"
Alex Fender: "Hold on... I'm still trying to like... find my... brain..."
Carrington: "We can wait a moment."
Alex Fender seems to wobble around for a minute before shaking his head a bit. It sounds like change is rattling around inside his head. "Okay! So, stand in front of it and smash things? I can do that!"
Jonathan: "At least he takes instructions better than Joanna."
Alex Fender: "I can do that gee ee double-u dee GEWWWWWWD."
Carrington: "Joanna is going to assist us, she's just behind enemy lines."
Jonathan: "Why is she always sent behind enemy lines? Why not me?"
Carrington: "You scored lower on the arms test."
Alex Fender: "BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH. YOU SUCK AT GUNS COMPARED TO A GIRL!"
Metal Man (GM): brb one second, washing some dishes
Jonathan: "...Way to embarrass me in front of the loonie."
Metal Man (GM): NOW brb.
Alex Fender: "Hey. I'm not loonie. I'm zany. Get it right."
Metal Man (GM): Nifty. Gimme a moment... Okay. You have your squad--Jonathan and four guys with guns on the bulldozer. And you can walk in front of it. They wait for you to start walking before they start moving.
Alex Fender walks to the front of the bulldozer. As he does so, he grins manically before swinging his guitar into playing position and starts playing a lively tune. It's nothing in particular with no real power behind it, but he's trying mainly to give the soldiers a feeling of carefree hope. This will be easy. And fun! "C'mon, gents! We have us a horde of stupid skeletons to bash in!" *He starts a'walki'.*
Jonathan: "Going ahead then..." *He starts the bulldozer. Soon, you reach the city. And... concrete dividers like the ones they use on the freeway are in the way.*
Metal Man (GM): You can easily hop them. The bulldozer would get slowed down shoving/smashing them. Any ideas, or just gonna let the bulldozer do its thing?
Alex Fender just hops over them for now. The bulldozer is there for a reason and it has a bigass gun on it if anyone comes a knocking.
Metal Man (GM): The Bulldozer smashes the barriers. Up next... the road is littered with bombs.
Jonathan: "...I hope this thing has a lot of armor..."
Alex Fender: "Whoaaaa whoa whoa, let's see here."
Metal Man (GM): The tank slows down a little.
Jonathan: "Yeah, I don't want to be exploded."
Alex Fender counts the bombs.
Metal Man (GM): About 25. Strewn all over the place, blinking red. They seem proximity-triggered as they blink more the closer you get to them.
Alex Fender hrms for a moment... then golfballs a piece of rubble with his guitar toward the bombs, seeing if they go off from the incoming movement of the rubble.
Metal Man (GM): They seem to ignore the rubble. It lands besides them.
Alex Fender: "SHEEOT. Okay, uh. THROW THE GUARDS AT THEM! No, wait, that won't be good... Guards are people... Oo, oo, I gots it! Shoot the gun at them!"
Metal Man (GM): He would press some buttons.
Jonathan: "You might want to take cover for this..."
Alex Fender jumps backwards and hides behind a boulder, but looks on with glee. "C'mooooon splosions!"
Metal Man (GM): *TSEER TSEER BOOOOOOOOOM* ...And we'll pause there, as I'm fading fast. +500 EXP to Alex.
Metal Man (GM): RETURN TO THE PAST -- With the help of Ederick's theft of a Dauntless class ship, the infamous Xavier returned to Nintendus, as it was just after Season 3. There, they met up with the old figures and warned them of a new threat: Borne. Xavier, now repowered by Smash Energy, swore vengeance on Garrick and Illian, accusing them of destroying a world of infinite happiness and replacing it with darkness and hatred. Xavier and Ederick have now gone to the Underground garage, out of earshot of most of the Stadium Staff. Xavier is walking to his old... old old old CAC. Except here it's new. It's a stretch Diablo SV, in black, made out of a strange stone material. It has Arwing wings and is so absurd that normality isn't capable of being expressed in its presence.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Just as I left it... Though I realized... we ought to pick up Demon, at the very least. He would want to be here. ..." *Smirks* "...And we have the perfect vehicle for it."
Ederick Holmes: "I kinda recognize these. Didn't we waste a bunch of them on some other Nintendus?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Probably. Oh... yeah. We did... those ones. These are... well these are the later models. My CACs. My vehicle... it's different."
Metal Man (GM): He presses a button. The gullwing doors open up and he gets into the driver's seat.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I spent easily half the Stadium budget on this baby."
Ederick Holmes nods and peers into the vehicle.
Metal Man (GM): It's got... gold plated interior. Not yet the absurdity of later Xavier designs. But it's still ridiculously overdone. You'd notice the presence of missiles, lasers and machineguns on the controls. And shields that are vast overkill.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "They don't make vehicles like this back on your planet."
Metal Man (GM): He begins to chuckle evilly.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I think we should introduce them to this, don't you?"
Metal Man (GM): He puts his hands on the steering wheel. It comes alive, bristling with weapons.
Ederick Holmes hops on in. "Sounds like a plan."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Now, normally I'd do all the shooting, but, they also work with a copilot. More shooting that way."
Metal Man (GM): A control panel appears before you.
Ederick Holmes looks over the controls and runs his hand across the dash, nodding. "Can always appreciate nice hardware."
Metal Man (GM): Missiles, lasers and machineguns... and you can fire them all simultaneously. The vehicle revvs with clearly supernatural energy powering it, then Xavier rockets it out of the garage fast enough it almost knocks over the nearby CACs in there. You don't really feel it though, due to the G-diffuser. It's fairly smooth, even as Metal spins the car upside down and does a few loop-de-loops. Just don't look outside too much....
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ha ha ha ha ha ha... HA HA HA HA HA HA! Yes... time to pick up Demon for our little party!"
Metal Man (GM): He pulls out a lever and the thing starts rocketing towards space--you feel a slight increase in G-forces but not much.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "So... you've been rather quiet during all of this. I guess I should ask. What do I owe you for your help? I wouldn't have thought of this without you."
Metal Man (GM): He leans on the side as it tears through outer space.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Normally I'm not a generous person, but, this may have just ruined the luck that those bums had earlier. They can use their powers all they want. We'll just use these."
Ederick Holmes shrugs. "Dunno, boss. Kinda saved me from a dead-end life sitting on some beach. Always hoped to be some kinda Quester. Read about you guys on Alsa."
Metal Man (GM): He grins, showing his teeth--some gold, one phazon-plated.
Ederick Holmes: "Borne was probably gonna turn me into a freakshow. Never did treat me too good anyways, so wasn't exactly the most loyal little pup trying to stop you from gettin' that drive core."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ah... yes... how could I have forgotten. Give me... give me a moment."
Metal Man (GM): He turns the car towards the Wing Fortress.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...A certain Drive Core you just reminded me of..."
Ederick Holmes nods. "Really just decided to go with the flow. Roll the dice and see what came up. Considering this place seems like paradise, think it worked out well."
Metal Man (GM): He would dock with the Wing Fortress. You'd hear some grunting and pulling. Then you'd see him come out holding the thing. ...And opening the hood of the CAC.
Ederick Holmes looks out the CAC's window. "Uhh, that gonna fit, bossman?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Smash Energy says it shall!"
Metal Man (GM): He holds it up and glows violently. Then he slams it into the engine. The CAC shakes violently for a moment... then the hood falls on it. It sticks out like a blower, but not too high, despite that being physically impossible. Xavier is glowing with the energy as the car's dash modifies itself to include the new capabilities. Xavier leaps in as if that was normal.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I just made my Diablo into a Delorean, Ederick! Except 88 is too small. 888 miles per hour is where it's at."
Metal Man (GM): The vehicle hovers off the ground, then goes back to space. It no longer even seems to need to directly manipulate the air with propulsion. It's so crazily overpowered by the energy that it seems to have a Time aura all around it.
Ederick Holmes laughs. "Nice. Think some reality bending will help spook Borne."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. Look Ma... no garage door opener!"
Metal Man (GM): It flies straight through the hangar door without damaging it. It uses a little power to do so, but otherwise has no problem. You're now headed towards Alsa. The car moves so fast that it's like it's in hyperspace.
Ederick Holmes: "Could just fly through everything he throws at us!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes, yes! The core was never meant to fit in this, but the Smash Power allows us to do just that. In this setup it requires the same damage it'd take to down a Capital Ship to defeat us, but we're much smaller and faster than one of those! Still not enough to outright defeat all of Borne's goons, but enough for our purposes. The Questers shall aid us in actually destroying them."
Metal Man (GM): Now... you here and ready, Demon? We'll switch to you for a moment to show what happened on your end. Ok. Demon: You were robbing the airport, when you got separated. The airport then collapsed, though you're somehow still okay, just alone and not sure where everyone went.
King Demon: "... Well, this is typical." *Sighs.*
Metal Man (GM): Outside, as the airport is gone now. As is the Wing Fortress. It gets worse, as a series of men with phase pistols are now closing in on you. They're headed by a rather stately looking man, who looks down on you like you're an insect. They aren't firing on you though.
Borne: "...A true, honest to goodness Quester. Lingering on my territory. One of the Alsa Questers."
Metal Man (GM): He wrinkles his nose.
Borne: "They broke their promise to me, didn't they. But where is Kit, Rinith, and Kenku? Where are the other annoyances? The Digifanatic isn't here either, is he? You may be of use to me, Demon, if you understand you made a mistake and comply with my instructions."
King Demon: *Shrugs* "Eh, I got nothing better to do for the moment... did you get upgrades or something?"
Borne: "Five years passed since you left. I made the Deathguard to prevent Questers who returned from succeeding. Garrick tried to make me stop using them. I simply hid them until he was no longer in a position to tell me anything. Dr. Eggman completed my work and as a result I got my new body as well. My old one died a quite gruesome death, but it doesn't matter." *He laughs shortly.* "This body is even better than had I used a Garrick body."
King Demon: "Five years? Has it really been that long? Wow..." *Shakes his head* "I musta gotten stuck in time again or something."
Borne: "Not quite. Alsan time moves faster than Nintendus time, as well as outsider time."
King Demon: "Ah, yes, I keep forgetting that."
Borne: "You really were just dropped here by him, weren't you?" *He snorts.* "Well. As much as I would like to get angry at you, it seems you just didn't know what was going on. Tell your friends to stay away from my airports."
King Demon: "I usually don't. I tend to just go with what sounds good."
Borne: "Well. Going to my land is going to be ruled NOT GOOD, for future reference."
King Demon: "Oh... and..." *Looks around* "Uh... what airport?"
Borne: "I have anti-Quester defenses. I have prepared for whatever Questers can do. ...This airport was not what I was expecting to have attacked."
King Demon: *Shrugs* "I don't even remember why I was brought here... guess it doesn't matter too much though. Don't suppose you know the way to get back to Nintendus, do ya?"
Metal Man (GM): As he says this, a glowing Diablo SV floats into view.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "Hello there Borne! Fancy meeting you here, huh?"
Borne: "What in the--"
King Demon: "Oh... nevermind, found it."
Metal Man (GM): He turns around and his guards point their guns at the CAC.
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "You really did put up a good fight, but in the end you stupidly trusted the mole yet again. You're nearly as dumb as I used to be!"
Borne: *Narrows his eyes* "I don't care what your head trip is. Take your pet Quester and get off my planet."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "Hmmm. What do you think, Ederick?"
King Demon: "Pet? PET!?!?"
Borne: "He releases you at places without even telling you what is going on. He doesn't even explain he's going to come back with a freakish abomination of a ship. Seems much like you're some pet he lets outside to do whatever without much thought."
Ederick Holmes: *PA* "I think it's time for a fancy light show, fireworks, explosions, lasers, and all."
Borne: "You want a battle, then? You've got your fight. ...With one slight addition." *Turns to Demon* "Stand aside and I will not harm you. Aid him, or try to aid him, and we have enough rifles to kill you PERMANENTLY."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "Ignore whatever he says! We have Smash energy!"
Borne: "That won't work here. It's Alsa. You remember that, Demon."
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "Well, he can always stand there while I do th--"
Borne: "Not so fast. You make another move and he dies as well! What'll it be, Demon?" *He smirks.* "You can politely be escorted out of Alsan space... and your friend follow you... and no one can be harmed... ...Or everyone dies."
King Demon: "Eh, I do whatever I want anyway... Smash energy!?"
Ederick Holmes looks to Metal. "I bet we could fly by an' get him before they even level their rifles at him."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You're right. Who needs stupid dilemmas when you can warp right through them?"
King Demon: *Spreads his wings stretching* "Hey, Metal, is that your old piece of shit?"
Metal Man (GM): The car suddenly phases through Borne and the Deathguards. Demon appears inside the car when he says that.
Borne: "What the hell?!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...No, Demon. This is the old piece of @#$% ON CRACK!"
Metal Man (GM): He burns out and drives into the ruined airport, while Borne sends out the general alarm.
King Demon: "Oooh, cool! Can I shoot something with it?"
Borne: "Kill them! Kill them and their car! The car MUST DIE!"
Ederick Holmes: "Think we made him mad!"
Borne: "It's a Class 5 TIME OBJECT! If it escapes he might go back in time and run you over as a child!"
King Demon: "He was mad to begin with. We just pissed him off."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Wow, these great ideas just keep falling into my lap!" *Presses button* "Darn. Not enough time power to do that. Borne must be a real geezer."
Metal Man (GM): The car crashes through and inside a buried part of the airport.
King Demon: "So... we have a phasing CAC?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. It flies... through time. ...But only for short periods unless I want to deplete the huge, dangerous battery on it."
King Demon: "Cool... uh... which direction are we going now then?"
Metal Man (GM): As it smashes through a staircase...
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I don't know."
Metal Man (GM): *SMASH* It makes it back outside. Two Eggman-Borne fusion ships confront the CAC.
King Demon: "Hmmm... feels like north... maybe northwest."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Here, you two shoot at it. Ill drive."
Metal Man (GM): Controls appear for the weapons for Demon.
King Demon: "Ah, sweet!"
Metal Man (GM): Order: Ederick, Demon, Eggman Ships, Xavier's insane driving. You have missiles, lasers, or machinegun. You have two Eggman-ish ships. Both are like streamlined spears facing you. They are identical, really.
Ederick Holmes: "Time to down some bogies." *He starts with a lightshow by firing the lasers at the leftmost ship.*
King Demon: "Machine guns, lasers... OOOH, MISSILES! And no pesky skycrapers to get in the way this time!"
Metal Man (GM): *BLAM* The ship takes a nice big hit, a big chunk of it flies off.
Borne: "That isn't sane! How can something that small shoot capital ship lasers?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: *PA* "You were saying something about Smash Power. I think you forgot that it comes from somewhere."
Borne: "Eggman! WHY IS HE USING SMASH POWER?"
Metal Man (GM): Same selection of machinegun, laser or missile. Note that they do different sorts of damage.
King Demon: *Yeah, he's gonna missile the shit outta the damaged ship, cuz he loves his explosions* "Hey, do we have a limit on these?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "The lasers overheat if you fire them twice in a row. This small thing only has 5 missiles but they explode and do lots of damage. The machinegun has no limits but is kinda weak. They said I had to pick those weaknesses. For some reason Professor Oak passed out when I suggested merging them into a giant laser-firing bullet missile."
King Demon: "You wanted this thing to shoot Banzai Bills?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...Yes. Yes I did."
King Demon: "Hmmm, that coulda been cool."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Let's go get some of those when this is over. For now, concentrate on maximum blasting power."
King Demon: "Yeah." *Missile launch.*
Borne: *Is busy arguing over the comms* "No! This is unacceptable! What do you mean there is no reason for them to have that?"
Metal Man (GM): Roll a d20+5, Demon. The missile flies out, and misses.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hmmm."
King Demon: "Damn, not even an explosion."
Metal Man (GM): It then explodes violently.
King Demon: "Oh, there it is."
Metal Man (GM): The huge explosion manages to wing the right one for some damage, equal to a laser. But a bit of a waste of a missile.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Next time, Ederick should fire a missile, and you fire the laser, Demon. Sounds better to me."
King Demon: "You may be right."
Metal Man (GM): Eggman ships.
Borne: "Well. You're not easy to beat, but I assure you. I did not steal the finest technology Eggman and Garrick ever made to lose to a HORRIFICALLY BADLY DESIGNED ABOMINATION."
Ederick Holmes: "Don't worry. I'll make sure the 'splosions are good. I'll get a chain reaction goin' if they send more after us!"
Metal Man (GM): Both ships fire a massive hail of mass-driver bullets. Xavier idly dodges one, but the other actually deals some damage.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yikes! Those things were moving at the speed of sound, and I couldn't move fast enough! Well if they want a piece of me, they can get it!"
Metal Man (GM): He moves to try and land on the left ship. *Cue awesome guitar music as he lands inside the cockpit of the left ship, causing massive damage.*
Borne: "What? WHAT JUST HAPPENED? He... he phased INSIDE the other ship and killed the pilots?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Sucks to be you, Borne Loser!"
Metal Man (GM): The left ship sinks, unable to fly without a bridge.
King Demon: "Does this mean we can blow it from the inside out?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Well, we can. But it's kind of destroyed already."
King Demon: "Eh... guess it doesn't matter, does it."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I can try for the next one though."
Ederick Holmes begins cackling as Borne's disbelief is aired. "Hahahah-you, you're recording this, right? Right?!" He releases the machinegun on the remaining ship.
King Demon: "The Dex probably is..."
Metal Man (GM): You hit some air.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "My Smash Dex records everything! Now let's finish this thing off."
King Demon: "EAT LASERY DEATH!" *Lasers the busted-ass ship, aiming for... ok, probably anything.*
Borne: "I need answers, Eggman! You were supposed to be the one that didn't defect!"
Metal Man (GM): A d20+6 for this, Demon.
Borne: "My ship is being destroyed by lasers, Eggman! Do something!"
Metal Man (GM): The ship turns to face you, then fires a hail of missiles at it. Everything it's got at once.
Ederick Holmes gets an idea. *PA* "Borne, why'd you ever trust the greatest ally to the Questers? You didn't even need to read the history books! You were there!"
Metal Man (GM): The CAC rocks and alerts appear as it starts to take damage.
Borne: "What do you mean? How are you the greatest ally to anyone? Or... Eggman? Why would he be their ally? He fooled them!"
King Demon: "... Actually, didn't he DIE the only time he actually WON?"
Ederick Holmes sobers a bit as they're hit and realizes they aren't actually invincible. He doesn't bother responding to Borne and just lets him stew.
Metal Man (GM): Xavier's driving.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Hm. We can't take another one of those without ACTUALLY taking NORMAL damage. Should we leave while we're ahead, or go for broke?"
Ederick Holmes looks about. "We only have this one ship left? Detecting any more?"
King Demon: "Eh..." *Looks for anything else approaching.*
Metal Man (GM): The gauge and the skies are... flooding with ships... most importantly, you see a massive Wolf mecha approaching.
Borne: "You can try all you want. I will not be beaten back from my own country!"
King Demon: "Yeah... I'm detecting a few more..."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I don't like the looks of this."
King Demon: "Think it's time to go, Mets."
Ederick Holmes: "Y'know, think we freaked him out enough for one day. Yeah."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm going to pull this lever and get us out of here."
Metal Man (GM): He pulls the lever. The ship rockets off... time-speed. It depletes the rest of the time energy, but it also saves you from a massive onslaught of lasers. Xavier breathes a breath of relief as the thing slowly floats back towards home base.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Okay... that was fun, but next time I'm going to try not to tick off his entire fleet at once."
King Demon: "Well, that was fun... why do you keep leaving me behind?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...You know, I wish I knew why. The last time you got stuck in a time anomaly, so technically no time passed for you while I was gone. ...And this time I warped back moments before you would have been in actual trouble..."
Ederick Holmes: "Chaos waits for no demon I guess. Even if it's just a few minutes."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "...I'm going to try not to leave you behind a third time though."
King Demon: "Good... next time I might accidentally blow up something useful." *Looks around* "So... where... or when... are we now, anyway?"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "A good question. We're going back to Season 3 Nintendus."
Metal Man (GM): You'd see a big barrier coming up, in outer space.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Most important, we need you to get your Smash Powers back. I've noticed you aren't tainted like some people, so you can just turn right back. Then you can do simple stuff instead of having to magically cast everything. Why would anyone want to do things the legit way anyway? Just rip fireballs out of thin air already I say!"
King Demon: "Tainted?" *Shrugs* "Hmmm, Season 3... I don't recall that one."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "You weren't there. Which is good, because two Demons might be a bit confusing."
King Demon: "Wouldn't be the first time that happened..."
Metal Man (GM): You eventually find yourself in the environs of Nintendus, the ship landing. The energy recharges once it hits Nintendus. Xavier coughs a bit.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Ugh... I just remembered... we can't leave this place and be on Alsa too long. It drains the energy out."
Metal Man (GM): Demon, meanwhile, suddenly feels like he's got his Smash powers back already.
King Demon: "Didn't know cyborgs got colds... oh."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "We have to be careful with how we attack Alsa or they might capture one of us and we'd lose our powers."
King Demon: "Hmmm..." *Stretches once he exists the vehicle* "Ah, yeah, this DOES feel familiar!"
Xavier Ridgecrest: "Yes. This is the energy Garrick took from us. This is why we're going to kill him."
Ederick Holmes: "Garrick's a bit of a jerk."
Xavier Ridgecrest: "And my no-good fake, Illian, for good measure... and probably Borne, if only for fun."
King Demon: "Oh, good. I knew there was something I was forgetting back on Alsa..."
Metal Man (GM): Yes. The Alsa Questers were on that way for a while. So yes. It's a continuation of that theme.
King Demon walks around a bit.
Metal Man (GM): It's the same green fields you remember. The Stadium and the Smashers are there. Eisnaught is even there in the background.
Xavier Ridgecrest: "I'm going to have to rest a bit after that. For me, losing and regaining some Smash Energy was a bit of a toll. Then when I'm up to it again, we go and raid Charles' coin collection. We can blame it on Grunty anyway."
King Demon: "K, whatever." *Shrugs, then sees Eisnaught* "Wow, that brings back memories."
Metal Man (GM): And, as much as I want to continue, I have to cook lunch and deal with some chores. However, whenever I and Demon have time I'll let him explore the old world. +300 EXP to Ederick; Demon will be getting Melee Moves, as will Ederick, before the next major session. Oh, also... +500 coins to Ederick and Demon.
