Garrick Fy`aar pats the console and sighs... then makes to pilot the thing toward Borne's area. He tries to make some minor repairs here and there as it travels.
Metal Man (GM): You'd do the simple things, like removing the dead lobster that decided to live atop a live capacitor, or the coral stuck to some of the monitors. And of course, there's also the broken wires and some really old damage, probably inflicted by Borne or Xavier when it was crashed over there.
Garrick Fy`aar thinks as he works...
Metal Man (GM): You'd slowly cross the ocean as the thing would keep sparking now and again.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Borne is going to shoot this thing down as soon as it gets even partially close... he'll see this as a big ol' trap..."
Metal Man (GM): According to the damage, he shot it down once before, too.
Garrick Fy`aar: "I've got to get close enough to his main base without him seeing me. I can do the rest on foot."
Metal Man (GM): The large ship continues to loudly shake through the air towards its destination, while emitting clouds of steam and smoke. Borne? He has a ground base. He still holds that same base that was invaded before. In fact, your sensors show he only improved it. Eggman tech is all over it and the surrounding city.
Garrick Fy`aar: "I hope that shield isn't still up..."
Metal Man (GM): As well as the nastiest anti-air system you ever did see. Ah... yes... that shield... I was about to say, it's there again. Not THE shield, mind you. This one is even larger, and less perfect. Instead of being completely unstoppable, it has Deathguards posted all around inside it. He altered his tactics, apparently.
Garrick Fy`aar nods a bit... then tries to compute the outside area of the air defense grid.
Metal Man (GM): You can't get terribly close. The guns seem primed to hit anything a half mile near the city diameter-wise.
Garrick Fy`aar: "That's... quite a walk..."
Metal Man (GM): Given the constant attacks, it seems Borne expects hell itself to attack the city now. The city is locked down and fielded, and surrounded by guns.
Garrick Fy`aar tries to find a nice place to sit down, out of sight, just outside the city.
Metal Man (GM): The jungle just a bit to the side seems like a good place. In fact, the old hangar used by the Questers is still there. Abandoned, completely.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Perfect." *He makes to land there.*
Metal Man (GM): You land. It's a bit squishy, but it fits.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Okay... half a mile through enemy controlled territory that wants me dead in every which way possible..."
Metal Man (GM): You see the remnants of the inside here, the old Quester/Eggman teamwork having died eons ago.
Garrick Fy`aar will scour the ship, then the hangar for any supplies that might be of use.
Metal Man (GM): The generator they put in here still powers the base, though it appears Borne destroyed all useful computers and equipment in here. The generator itself seems intact, in fact it's still on. It's been improved slightly, fitted with power connectors that also allow it to power Borne's tech.
Garrick Fy`aar is looking more for items at the moment.
Metal Man (GM): Hm. What kind of items?? Also, search check. I'll brb myself, for I must turn on the oven to help get me some dinner. And back. Borne did strip the base to the bone. Jack did not do the same for the ship, however. You'd find some insanely old Time Cop healing devices, 3 of them. They only do the equivalent of cure light wounds, as their power cells have worn down.
Garrick Fy`aar pockets them. As long as he had something, it was better than going in without any sort of healing... the next thing he'd do is use the sensors on the ship to try and get a map of the area.
Metal Man (GM): You see a number of paths that snake into Capital City, and others into Station Square. The Capital City ones, of course, have checkpoints that block one from just sneaking inside, but at least you'd have cover there.
Garrick Fy`aar would need to find where Borne is, first... Capital City seems like the best bet. He'd head for that. He'd make sure that he had everything and the ship was well disguised before heading off in that direction. He'd stay off the roads as best as possible, keeping eyes and ears open for patrols.
Metal Man (GM): And back. You'd make your way to the city, avoiding some patrolled. The ship is well disguised--once turned off, it masquerades as being completely and utterly dead, leaving no signature whatsoever. The way in is protected by a booth and two Deathguards. They have their phase pistols in hand and are not looking friendly. To recap the last time you saw them, they were built to be Quester killers, were strong enough to fight Questers head on and possibly kill them, and have Phase pistols. You demanded they be discontinued when the Protectors managed to overwhelm Borne. However, it appears Borne is cognizant of the change in power. As such they have returned, now upgraded with some Eggman-tech. Indeed! They would be very useful against the actual Questers.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(...well. I halfway am glad he completely fucking went against our plans.)
Metal Man (GM): Only now you find yourself back to the same position you were at the beginning of that ancient mission you did.
Garrick Fy`aar looks for a way around.
Metal Man (GM): All around is force field, but a Perception check might be of use. The more time goes on, the more I think Pathfinder hates you for using it. :p I should probably finish my system already, since it doesn't feature irreversible "YOU LOSE"... but anyway. You look, and find pretty much nada. The Deathguards sit there, looking tough and also most likely soulless. Better that way, they probably can't be swayed by Smash Power.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(Okay, okay, options... I could try to back off, find a way through the shield... doubtful. I could bust through them. I might be able to take them in my powered up state, but it would draw a lot of attention.) .oO(...or I could just walk in and ask to see Borne. Yeah. That'll go real well...) .oO(They're unlikely to be distracted... it'd need to be something REALLY big to get their attention...)
Metal Man (GM): You'd remember that back when, attempts to distract them were nasty. They had been programmed to know the "Rock" trick and look around for a thrower. It did kinda distract them, but you'd remember them finding and brutalizing the rock thrower. And they knew CQC. Borne had basically made them into unstoppable killing machines. Indeed. It's a small wonder he hasn't just run over Jack now. He must not know about the undead thing falling through. The good news is... there's only about 20 of them, spread out... across each of the 20 entrances.
Garrick Fy`aar frowns for a moment... then comes to a conclusion. He reaches to his Alsa Energy bracelet and removes it, testing something. He tries attaching it around his ankle and covering it with his pant leg.
Metal Man (GM): Hmmmm. It still works in that situation.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(If I run in, then they'll all come for me... and 20 Deathguards on one of me is a bad bet anyday of the week... we'll go in with an olive branch.) *He holsters his much better pistol in his side holster, somewhat out of sight, then holsters his old revolver in his main holster. He wanted to come off looking a fair bit worse than he really was... He takes a deep breath, backs off a few steps so he's not immediately in sight when he appears. He wants to walk in from afar. With that, he does so. Walking straight up to the checkpoint.*
Metal Man (GM): The Deathguards look at you. Then they smirk. One of them snickers.
Deathguard: "Ah. The one who once served Illian MacGregor. The Protectors. Who lost all their men. And then you betrayed him."
Garrick Fy`aar raises his eyebrow at that. He never figured Deathguards to be able to laugh... he scans them.
Deathguard: "You then told Borne to kill us, and he did."
Metal Man (GM): They appear to be a Model 2. More advanced. More... complex.
Deathguard: "Yes, stare in confusion." *The Deathguard's eyes glow teal.* "After all, we aren't supposed to exist."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I want to see Borne."
Deathguard: "Of course you do. Of course, we remember what you did." *He would pull out his sword.* "It is a pity I cannot use this on you, because Borne himself has requested we bring you to him, before you even came here. He said that reality had taught you a lesson that beatings could never equal. Hope he is right, or we shall help deal you the lesson you should rightfully have."
Metal Man (GM): They would open the barrier and stand aside so you could enter. Weapons and all.
Deathguard: "We know you have weapons on you. He told us you could bring them all in."
Garrick Fy`aar would walk in, pausing beside the Deathguard that's been speaking. "...you know, you can taunt and threaten all you want. Doesn't it make it any different when I rip your spine out and show it to you."
Deathguard: "We shall see if you have any hands left to rip with, when Borne is done with you."
Garrick Fy`aar: "There's been a lot of you, and one of me... and here I'm still standing. You're just number fifty five or so." *He brushes past him and walks on in.*
Deathguard: "To die for our leader... is honorable. To kill for nothing... that is your disgrace."
Metal Man (GM): They would let you walk in, unimpressed. You'd walk into the city proper. People would stare at you like a monster, in the streets. He made a corridor for you to walk on. One which the people are there, taking pictures of you. Gasping as if you might morph into a demon or breathe fire.
Garrick Fy`aar walks in quietly.
Metal Man (GM): Regular policemen hold them back, looking afraid of you. You'd be walking towards that same dang building Borne is always in--even after that one stint when he had a different one--right up the steps of the same building the original Alsa Questers went in and went, "You need us, now let us break your rules and kill whoever we please."
Garrick Fy`aar stops a moment, right at the bottom of the steps.
Metal Man (GM): Indeed, you'd see exhibits playing videos of that, probably altered as you don't recall Deloth pointing weapons at everyone and screaming "I AM A VAMPIRE"
Garrick Fy`aar looks at the steps, staring at them...
Metal Man (GM): On the other hand, you do recall the unedited segment of them telling flabbergasted policemen that they are the heroes. And some other videos showing them evicting the people of Westopolis and aiding the Thugs.. ..And them working with Dr. Eggman.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...you hate me."
Metal Man (GM): ...It goes on, showing them blowing up parts of the planet, and Panzer killing people with a sniper rifle. The people stare at you like some sort of monster. A man comes forward... it's one of the original policemen. He stares at you with a nasty expression on his face.
Policeman: "You ruined this planet. You came here and made our lives hell."
Garrick Fy`aar looks up at him with a somewhat sad expression on his own. "I did..."
Policeman: "You hate innocent people. You hate us. You want us to die for your stupid wars. We just want to be left alone. We don't consider Borne our savior, but no one else has managed to protect us."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I remember you."
Policeman: "You damn well better. I was the one telling you you were a bunch of people in fancy costumes. That you should let us just do our jobs. Those thugs you worked with were nothing but trouble. We'd been trying to arrest them. You could have helped us."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You were right."
Metal Man (GM): He'd pause, confused.
Policeman: "I thought you thought you were always right. What'd change your mind?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "No... god, no..."
Metal Man (GM): The video plays in the background.
Garrick Fy`aar looks up at that video for a moment.
Julian Sawyer: "I'm always f@#$ing right. Anybody who says otherwise is jus' crazy."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...ask yourself something for me. Did you ever see me? Ever see me doing anything with your own eyes? Something that was against the people? That hurt them or made their lives hell?"
Policeman: "...I'm afraid I didn't get much chance to, after a point. They kept us far away after those first years, after Panzer killed many of us. I don't recall you being in many of the videos either."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That was because I was one of the few who looked at those men and women who did those things and was disgusted."
Policeman: "Although there was that incident with the Dauntlesses. Yeah, you made them... you betrayed Borne for those people... ...but you weren't really in the videos even then. ..." *He would look puzzled.* "You mean you didn't all think the same?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "..." *Sigh* "...you don't understand. Not yet." *He looks back to the man, very sad...*
Policeman: "Videos, countless of them, show almost unanimous thought. Those who didn't were killed. But then again, you look like half a truck ran you over."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The Deathguard told me that I kill for no reason. That isn't true. I kill for you. For the people. I always did that. But I was sick. You are the future, you know."
Editor's Note: Heh... "I kill for you, for the people." Sounds like something Stalin would say.
Policeman: "Sick? What with? Is there some disease that made the Questers insane?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Not all of them. Just me. You can't understand... not yet."
Policeman: "Oh." *He'd pause.* "We are basically the only people on this planet which haven't been killed or destroyed, yes. Borne has said we will rebuild the side Jack destroyed when things are over."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I can't convince you... but believe me. I am a good man. I try to be, anyway. But... you are right. I am a monster. My hands are bloody."
Policeman: "Maybe you were just in with the wrong crowd."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Something like that... ...I have to go talk to your leader, now... there is something coming..."
Policeman: "It's not too late, you know. Maybe you could help Borne instead of aiding maniacs."
Garrick Fy`aar made to take a step forward, pausing...
Policeman: "Maybe help Borne too, since his lack of friends has left him paranoid. You don't know him like we do. He wasn't this paranoid."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...we'll see."
Policeman: "He didn't need force fields or Deathguards. Not before the Questers came. If he could be assured he won't be assassinated every moment of the day, maybe he would be less likely to... be so tough on everyone."
Garrick Fy`aar walks away. God, this hurt a lot worse than he thought it would.
Editor's Note: Yeah, realizing being all KILL EVERYONE IN MY WAY I AM THE HERO and then seeing what destruction it wrought...
Metal Man (GM): He'd nod and leave you be. You'd walk up the stairs. The way in would have more exhibits, those of the Questers breaking in, killing people and looting the desks and drinking hidden admin booze. Clearly, what all heroes should do.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(The world was ruined by the Questers... turned into this place, with these people... maybe Borne has some good in him, but...)
Metal Man (GM): Other exhibits show Panzer installing the potentially deranged Anthon Tark as head of the place by destroying an entire warehouse of rulebooks by flooding it.
Garrick Fy`aar: .oO(...dad... what would you do...)
Metal Man (GM): And of course, it wouldn't be complete without repeated references to the Questers trying to break into here, even one where Anthon Tark, though considered 'evil' by Borne, is considered justified that one time he's shown smashing Questers with a mech. It's labeled "When enemies kill other enemies."
Garrick Fy`aar found himself surprised that he had asked that... he keeps walking. One foot in front of the other... he can't help but look at each and every showing of the Questers. He needed to see this. He had to.
Metal Man (GM): You'd slowly make your way up, past other exhibits showing the Questers having destroyed time and the entire Maverick Continent "Because it annoyed us", then moving on while Panzer is shown destroying Kanto. The infamous Faustian Jack deal is also up there, where the Questers basically sold the lives of millions of people. It finally ends with Borne's office itself, which is open to you to enter. Borne is in there, at his desk, waiting, chair turned back facing to you. He has no guards. No defense systems. No force fields. Nothing. It's you and him, in an empty room.
Garrick Fy`aar walks inside, one foot in front of the other, until he comes to find himself across from Borne.
Metal Man (GM): Borne doesn't say anything, waiting for you to speak first.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I hate you. God, do I hate you."
Borne: "We all hate God sometimes, Garrick."
Garrick Fy`aar draws his pistol in a blur and aims it at Borne, right between his eyes. "YOU ARE NOT GOD."
Borne: "Of course not. I meant you, hating God for what had happened to you. The one you probably believe in, if my records are correct?"
Metal Man (GM): He would swivel the chair to face you, letting it point between his eyes.
Garrick Fy`aar: "..."
Borne: "This is a curse, a path of tribulations put before you. You can either emerge from it a stronger man and a better human being, or a wretched damned soul like the Questers did."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...you don't know anything about what has happened to me. Stop acting like you do. If things were different, I'd put a bullet between your eyes and walk out of here. ...but things have changed."
Borne: "To the contrary. I was in charge of the torture, the confinement that was done to you. And the subsequent clones. I was there for all of it. And you know what? It was a mistake. It was all just a tribulation placed on you for no. Damn. Reason. I was mad at Questers, and you resembled one of them."
Garrick Fy`aar: "And what, you're gonna say you're sorry and ask forgiveness?"
Borne: "No. I do not ask for forgiveness. In fact, I invite you to hate me."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You don't do that. That's not Borne. There you go, that's Borne."
Borne: "What I have done is, what I have done. I can only say that it's not happening again."
Garrick Fy`aar lowers his pistol, holstering it. "Enough about me. Something has happened. Something big."
Borne: "Tell me, then. I shall listen."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Xavier is coming. With Questers. The original Questers."
Metal Man (GM): He would grit his teeth like you stubbed a cigar in his eye.
Borne: "More damn lunatics in my country."
Garrick Fy`aar: "No, you don't understand."
Borne: "Enlighten me. Are they all like Jack now?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Worse."
Borne: "There's an entire army of Evil Wolfmen? I'm going to need to evacuate my country off the planet then."
Garrick Fy`aar: "These are the Questers during the high time of our rein on Nintendus. Filled to the brim with Smash Energy and fully willing to do whatever Xavier tells them to do."
Borne: "Power levels, power levels... are they Evil Wolfmen, or not as bad? I want to know if this is a winnable battle."
Garrick Fy`aar frowns, considering.
Borne: "If it can be won, I will burn them to death with their own mental foibles like I did those other Questers. And then... then you can watch, if you want. I can even offer you the chance to personally oversee their undoing."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...if they are at the level that I remember us being at, then they aren't as saturated with Smash Energy on the level that Evil Wolfman was."
Borne: "Hm. Then it is winnable."
Garrick Fy`aar: "But the problem isn't their strength."
Borne: "Hm. What is it, then?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's the Smash Energy itself. Smash Energy, it's like... well..."
Borne: "Ah..." *He trails off, taking out a vial from his desk.* "You mean this."
Metal Man (GM): He spins the blue vial around.
Borne: "Yes. Eggman has told me about it. Even how to make it, from the sun's energy. Limitless quantities. ...So much so, it explodes. ...I wonder if I could make the Questers explode the same way..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...then you know that it replicates."
Borne: "Heroic prowess, contact with people it can infect. It'd be here on Alsa, if the Alsan energy didn't eat it and destroy it. See here. I open this vial, it doesn't infect us like it would in space. It'd just bubble away like soda. Unless one of us drank it, it'd do nothing. Even then, it'd be nothing like how it is in space."
Garrick Fy`aar is busy staring at that vial. He is staring hard... staring... hungrily, almost...
Metal Man (GM): He'd spin it around. Even put it on the table, if you want to look at it.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...put it away."
Borne: "I have no great attachment to it."
Metal Man (GM): He'd slide it into the drawer.
Garrick Fy`aar: "That's because you never felt it."
Borne: "I can't, actually."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Good."
Borne: "I tried it. In space. It literally evaporated from touching me. I am a conduit of Alsan energy. It is unable to effect me. I could probably wrestle Evil Wolfman. But not 6 of him. That would just be brute strength and there are not enough of me, nor will there ever be. I tried to make more Mad Men. But the planet limits it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Borne, it's not so much the power that it gives, but the potential. If we fight them? They grow stronger. If we leave them alone, nothing will really happen. Not for a while."
Borne: "Hm. Can they be demoralized like the Questers here?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "And Xavier is fully ready to hunt us down. No, they--...hrm..." *He pauses, thinking...* "...the problem is their attachment to Xavier."
Editor's Note: Interesting. Garrick has accidentally realized that social bonds and friendship are more powerful than cursing and guns.
Borne: "Like... can they be shown that they are horrible people? If we put reasonable things... will they stupidly kill innocent people? ...Hm. You are right. The leader factor. The ones here always talked of how they wanted a leader. Since they didn't have a real leader, they picked idiots like Julian. Xavier is a leader, even if my stolen data suggests he is a nutcase. ...This is a problem. I am not the best equipped to deal with them, if they have someone to reassure them. They could make stupid mistakes. Then this man could rally them to fight forever."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We're not asking you to do this on your own."
Borne: "I have to consider the worst case first, though."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...worst case of what??"
Borne: "Illian... he lost his crew. They just left him. One day they decided they weren't interested. He had no way of retaining them. Illian's skeleton crew and you add about... eh... about a platoon or two's worth. Maybe his Solarians add another one. The worst case is that I'm the only one here while you flee to greener pastures."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Sloan is busy keeping them occupied, but I don't know for how long."
Metal Man (GM): He would hiss a bit.
Borne: "Sloan... Sloan... you should know better than to deal with him. He could be selling us both under a bridge."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I work with what I have."
Borne: "Then upgrade to someone who won't kill you because it makes him rich. Or this could be the last time I see you, not because of me, but because of him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "What, like you? The person who secretly rules his kingdom with an iron fist?"
Borne: "I am the devil you can trust vs. the devil you can't."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Or maybe Jack, who's out of his damn mind?"
Borne: "I would be very amused to see you try to work with Jack, but I am afraid old age has ruined his brain. If he ever had one to begin with."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Look, it doesn't fucking matter who works with what right now. It's all hands on deck to defuse this."
Borne: "You are correct. Illian used his connections to alert all the Mad Men of this issue. Unfortunately, Jack is trying to subvert things for his own gain. You see, Illian helped make this place, and we, the Mad Men, are obliged to help him if the planet thinks he is to our benefit. We must bring Jack back into square, or replace him. ...And figure out where the hell Mad Molly went. But. Illian can deal with that, unless you wish to help. It is his fault, anyway. He made the rules, then he never checked in."
Garrick Fy`aar: "There's not much I can do at this point. If I had my way, I'd go straight there and kill the hell out of Xavier until I unmade him."
Borne: "Let us stop the cat and mouse game, then, at the very least. I can ensure you have a functional ship and materials. No enslavement. No strings attached. No monitoring programs, no microchips, nothing. I just want the Questers dead."
Garrick Fy`aar narrows his eyes.
Borne: "It's either you, or I revive Panzer to do it for me. I know what you're going to say."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh really? Please, go ahead. What AM I going to say?"
Borne: "'Goddamnit Borne, I don't @#$ing work for you, and you'll just get yourself and everyone else @#$%in' killed by reviving Panzer.' Or, correct me if I am wrong. I am wrong, from time to time. Just usually in ways that don't matter in the long run."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That's close enough. Not to mention that you want me to work in a country where everything and everyone wants me dead."
Borne: "Oh. No, you would not work in the country. You could work wherever you wanted. I can deliver. I have reverse engineered Time Cop tech. I can warp it there."
Garrick Fy`aar pauses at that... Time Cop tech... that's pretty hardcore stuff...
Borne: "I wouldn't even control what you did with it. You could just create a giant bomb to kill me with. It'd work. I'd die. I only offer what I do because I know these Questers have you scared. They will ensure you work to our mutual benefit better than anything I could ever do or say."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Borne, at our height, we destroyed reality in a fist fight."
Borne: "Yes. I don't doubt they are as deadly as you say."
Garrick Fy`aar: "You're damn right, I'm scared."
Borne: "The good news is, though, you were one of them once. You can destroy THEM in a fist fight instead. With the help of us."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't know if I've reached that level of power again. It'd take time."
Borne: "Depends. You can get that Smash Power right back, right now. But it's probably as deadly as you say it is."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...if I re-saturated myself with Smash Energy... ...I don't know what would happen."
Borne: "Instead, I shall have to suggest you take advantage of our cybernetic enhancements... oh, no. Not the ones I made. Or the ones Eggman made. But you can reverse engineer your own from our plans, so that you can make sure it's all you."
Garrick Fy`aar stares at him for a few moments...
Borne: "You've defeated all my failsafes before. These would be a cakewalk. Make them out of magitek, make them completely unhackable."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Alright, alright, shut up. I'm tired of you waving the carrot in front of me."
Metal Man (GM): He'd nod.
Borne: "Tired of saying it myself, usually I would be laughing at you right now for your misfortune, only the Questers punching ME doesn't sound pleasant. I wouldn't believe you but Illian confirmed it, and his role in making this world leads me to be very certain he isn't lying."
Garrick Fy`aar sighs... he didn't like this. As soon as the Questers were dealt with, everything would go back to normal... he had no allies. Not anymore. "...fine. Full supplies. A ship. The works."
Borne: "Fine it is. You name it. We shall give it to you. That shall be what you get then. Location of your choice. Off the planet if you desire. Might even be useful if they blockade the planet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't have any set base outside the planet."
Borne: "We can make one."
Garrick Fy`aar: "The moon, then."
Borne: "The Moon is a suitable place. We shall set it up there."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'll just have to hope they don't think it's cheese and eat it."
Borne: "They really are insane, aren't they?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "To be honest, most of the Questers at that time weren't too bad. Yurie, Razor, Aribar... they were decent people that were just blind."
Borne: "Does this mean that they might listen to sanity?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I would tend to think so, but it'd take some real doing."
Borne: "Because, I do have a little secret here. This planet was partially made by Illian, and his goal was to actually help the Questers not be insane. It... hurt my head when he revealed this planet had some magical purpose to it, but... it makes sense. ...He was disappointed to hear the Questers chose to die insanely than be taught anything. Let us hope that these Questers are not like them, if they have the power to back up their insanity otherwise. We shall work together... and Illian will help deal with Jack once and for all. Jack... has gone off the lines. I think Panzer told him something that led him to go Maverick."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Jack is low on resources."
Borne: "The Mad Men program shouldn't work for him after he's turned against the planet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It doesn't."
Borne: "He should be a pile of metallic mush. ...Hm."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Something is keeping him going, though. He busted through most of the powers when--when I fought him."
Borne: "Hm. Well, you did a good job fighting him then."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It'll take a spell to unattach him from his connection to the planet to do anything with him, though."
Borne: "A spell. That might be arranged, at this rate. I'll have to forward that to Illian."
Garrick Fy`aar: "At this point, I don't think we can focus too hard on him. We need to focus on the Questers."
Borne: "Correct. But if we can settle Jack, then we get another Mad Man."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't think that's possible... but weirder things have happened."
Borne: "A Mad Man is equal to one of these Questers, if my calculation is correct. Fully powered by the planet, on the surface of the planet, anyway. If the Mad Men reform and attack them all in a group, they can give them one hell of a fight. All of us, you've seen what we can do. All of us at once."
Metal Man (GM): He plays a video of Mad Molly, Jack, Borne and Marley blowing Eggman's stuff to bits.
Borne: "The Eggman war ended in a few days after we came on the scene. He had the entire world in his hands. Vast armies. Roboticized people. We reverse engineered and broke everything of his."
Metal Man (GM): He then looks down.
Borne: "Then we decided to kill one another."
Metal Man (GM): *More videos, this time of Mad Men forces shooting one another.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Enough."
Borne: "Yes. Enough." *Stops it.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "I understand. We'll see if we can get Jack to join us. But I doubt it. For now, I'm going to figure out my next step once we get this new base operational."
Borne: "I do too. I hope we find someone else. Of course."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'm sure you can find a way to contact me when it's suitable." *He would turn to leave, then pauses.*
Borne: "I'll be able to, yes."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...and I'd make sure your Deathguards are a little more well trained. I almost had to kill one of them for his mouth."
Borne: "Ah... ...I had to rush them into production. Didn't know what might come after the reports I began hearing. I encountered Xavier, but not his new Questers, and he... he warped right through something. His limo is insane. I had to be ready... but I will take that into account."
Garrick Fy`aar: "He has a Time Cop Time Drive in that thing."
Borne: "... I am going to hate that thing, aren't I? No telling where or when it could show up."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That and a lot of other things he pulls out."
Borne: "I could be looking through old family photos and he could warp into one of them at this rate."
Garrick Fy`aar: "There's quite a bit of Nintendus tech that he could use. In any event... contact me when it's ready."
Borne: "This is going to be a long war, I can feel it." *He sighs.* "I will contact you, when the time comes."
Garrick Fy`aar would turn and leave with that, walking away. As he walks, there would be the sound of a gunshot that breaks one of the televisions showing Panzer doing something.
Borne: "...I don't blame you."
Metal Man (GM): He'd idly lean back on his desk and sigh as you left the building. Back outside, the crowds are gone.
Garrick Fy`aar would walk out of the museum without another word. Back down the steps. Back through the throng of people...
Metal Man (GM): There's a few there, though. The Policemen, including the one you talked to. Seems like they lost their interest... for now. Or maybe he told them to leave. It's a good question.
Garrick Fy`aar walks slowly, his head down. He feels such incredible weight and pain... it's almost too much. Unless something or someone stops him, he'd head all the way out of the city and back toward the ship.
Metal Man (GM): You head all the way out, unstopped by anyone. The emptiness is almost worse. Given you can see the streets now... They were once normal streets, but now every area has fallout shelters ready for use.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...we're going to go to war..."
Metal Man (GM): Normal cars, the few that you see, are coated in dust and have flat tires. They don't really go outside much. The newspapers warn of an "Ominous Presence Coming" and images of Xavier's Wing Fortress blowing up the airport are seen.
Garrick Fy`aar stops and stares at one of the fallout shelters... to think that they would NEED them...
Metal Man (GM): Other articles note of Illian's bad fate, and mysterious things going on in JackLand. One grainy photo shows "Mysterious Rock Avenger kills hordes of evil skeletons" "Carrington Institute gains beachhead in town thought to be lost to Jack. Reporters ask Borne why he let the town be invaded in the first place--no response given."
Garrick Fy`aar can't help but smile a little at that. At least one small bit of his plan was working.
Metal Man (GM): A final page goes "Mysterious businessman spotted on ruins of Maverick Continent, promising riches to people who will stop evil 'RED' menace. No takers, due to reports of a realm of killer death people on the other side of his bargain."
Garrick Fy`aar stares at that last page...
Metal Man (GM): It shows a reprint of a flyer made by said businessman. 'TO WHOEVER IT MAY CONCERN, My realm is flooded with an evil Engineer's scourge. He wears a crown and kills everyone, using a modified version of 'Smash' Energy called 'RED' energy. It makes all who take it into insane maniacs. To whoever defeats this evil scourge and saves my realm, I promise endless riches and GRAY energy--energy that will give power without evil side effects. My robot army will also assist said people, as the demise of the evil RED Engineer will free them for more useful pursuits, like golf, tennis, and shooting whoever you want dead.' It shows a map to the businessman's hideout. The article notes that perhaps the Questers would have taken him up on his offer--before laughing at the fact the Alsa Questers are gone and thus never going to do that.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I think I have something I can do in the meantime."
Metal Man (GM): It has a map to there--easy enough to get there by ship.
Garrick Fy`aar would start moving again, tucking that paper into his back pocket, and head out to his beat up old stolen ship. He'd rev that thing up and head toward this Gray Mannsion or whatever it was...
Metal Man (GM): Away you'd go... and we'll pause there. Mostly because I feel it makes a good pausing point. I'm not too tired, but on the flip side it'd be even better if I think on the Gray Mannsion stuff. +600 EXP to Garrick
Metal Man (GM): Warpination. Illian and Dragoshi would warp aboard the grandiose and huge Dweezil flagship. Aboard it is Laconius, the head of the Dweezil, who seems to have already prepared a table for you.
Valron: "...Ah. I see you were expecting us. How kind of you."
Laconius: "Ah, but of course." *He would sweep his long blonde hair* "I never let a visit'r go without a proper greetin'."
Illian MacGregor: "I assume you know why I am here?"
Laconius: "Of course I do. What do yeh think we do here, sit around and play th' banjo?"
Illian MacGregor: "...Nevermind. So. You..."
Laconius: "I can't honestly recommend stoppin' mah war with the Time Cops. They's a bunch of whacked inbred nutjobs. You'd be better off on our side, Mistah Refrigerator."
Illian MacGregor: "I'm... not so sure about that." *He would hold one of his hands in a fist.* "You yourself understand the importance of independence. I rule my realm. And I know what you would want."
Valron: "If I may interject. Most of the 'nutters' in the Time Cops have either been slaughtered unceremoniously, or in the case of Ael... grown from their experience. Being left to rot in a hellish wasteland with two psychotic superpowers can do a lot to change a man. As for other, potentially more problematic forces like Autumnus and the Arbiter, well... They've been shunted off into some far corner of the universe. The thing is, though. I'd rather not leave them alone for too long. Especially considering the fumble I made amidst that whole mess..." *He sighs* "Though I suppose that can wait after the more... immediate threat in the form of Xavier and his Questers are dealt with."
Metal Man (GM): Laconius smiles.
Laconius: "Ah don't know." *He gives a grin.* "What if ah choose to ally with the Questers instead and kill all mah problems at once? I saw that guy lookin' at my engines, I saw the gears in his head. He saw I was a threat to him. And I know he could do damage tah me." *He swirls his drink.* "What if ah'm afraid of all these people and just want them gone?"
Illian MacGregor: "You could ally with them, but the Questers are vainglorious traitors. They would betray and destroy you."
Valron: "Add to it if they see you in the wrong, well..."
Laconius: "Ah don't know about that. They're pretty dumb. They follow a man who by mah reckoning, is nuttier than a pineapple convention."
Valron: "If Xavier was really as dumb as he seemed."
Laconius: "I could convince them tah follow me instead and gain some nice agents. An' jus' kill the poor little @#$%ers who are too dumb to operate heavy machinery..."
Valron: "I don't honestly think we'd even be talking about this."
Laconius: "...You have proof he'd be a threat tah me? Ah'm just not seein' it."
Illian MacGregor: "Xavier was dead. Garrick killed him. His Questers broke reality to revive him. Xavier led a Stadium in a parallel universe. He was killed there. The Questers revived him. AGAIN. An all-powerful God took over his realm. When he and I were seemingly meshed together, he managed to mastermind an insane plan with The Void that KILLED THAT GOD. Then that God appeared again and he used the Time Cops... to kill him permanently. The Time Cops were the ones who pushed you out of this realm. He knows how to trick them. He would just turn on you and use them to kill you, or kill you both while you were fighting each other. He plays stupid so smart people like you don't treat him seriously, so he can then kick you in the nuts when you're not looking."
Valron: "Oh, fun fact? Some of the Questers he has in his hand would prolly' tear apart your forces as if they were naught but putty."
Illian MacGregor: "If you ally with him, I'm afraid you'll be in more danger than us."
Laconius: "I highly doubt the Questers can match our technology. Their Smash Energy is but a twinkle in th' eye compared to our mastery of super-steam."
Valron: "Well, maybe not 'putty', but."
Laconius: "We could burn them all out like weasels, an' then have a merry campfire with their corpses."
Valron: "You'd certainly have quite the time trying to deal with them."
Laconius: "This Xavier does sound like a right smoke in the woods, but I can just have him kill those Time Cops. Then he has no more allies, does he? I've had quite the time dealing with Time Cops... it's nothing new to me. You wouldn't know it, but that Ael feller has been a pain in my rear for longer than any of you have been alive."
Illian MacGregor: "I--"
Laconius: "Oh, right. Not him. Damn maniac, you know that time traveling that much should by all rights have killed yew."
Illian MacGregor: "You know what I am capable of."
Laconius: "Well, ah guess I should give yew a chance. Ah can give yew the deal I'da given to those Quester fellers."
Valron: "And that would be?"
Laconius: "Ah work with yew, yew kill the Time Cops. Ah get control of Alsa. And that's final. No alterations. I already know, ah can't ask for Illian's pet realm. The price is steep, but that's what I'm offerin'."
Illian MacGregor: "...I can't give you that realm though. It's not mine to give. Alsa will defend itself."
Laconius: "So fight them with yer pretty little armies. We'll give yew backup and kill all those damn buggers."
Illian MacGregor: "I'm not sure I'm so desperate to take such a deal. It's an offer, but not one I like."
Laconius: "Well, yew got a handful of soldiers and your pet planet. Ah've got tech nobody can match and control over time. Ah don't really need your input on anythang. I can just do whatever th' hell I want."
Valron: "Oh, boy that attitude."
Metal Man (GM): He smiles.
Valron: "This should make things hilarious."
Laconius: "Boy, you haven't seen what ah'm capable of. Yew make me mad and you'll wish it was just Xavy-boy waving his pathetic little flag at yew."
Valron: "Then I won't. I know better than not to provoke a sleeping giant."
Laconius: "Ah hold all th' cards here, gentlemen. You're free to leave, or get mad, but in th' end, I do what ah want. You'll be back, and mah deal will be the only thang in town, and I won't begrudge you for yer anger. But face it--you've got nobody but me."
Valron: "...Nobody but you. Noted."
Illian MacGregor: "We shall see on that. Thank you for your time, but now I believe we shall be going."
Valron: "Indeed we shall."
Laconius: "Yes. Do go. I await to see what little foolishness yew do in th' attempt to save yerselves. It ain't gonna do much against those megalomaniacs you say are after yew. But..." *He shrugs.* "Have fun with that."
Metal Man (GM): Illian grumbles and walks into a portal he summons.
Valron: *He... shrugs a little, before casually strolling behind Illian.*
Metal Man (GM): You'd warp back to the Eternal Dauntless. Illian seems miffed.
Valron: "Well, that went pretty sour."
Illian MacGregor: "Seems we've got little in the way of help out there. The leftovers of the Time Cops, but they won't help unless the Dweezil stop working against them. Only the Dweezil won't work with us."
Valron: "And the Dweezil are the cockiest fellows I've seen since... Well, the Questers. At least, the Laconius fellow is. Should be interesting to see whether or not things shatter and explode in his face."
Illian MacGregor: "My data suggests that he may be defeatable, but he's too good at regrouping. The Time Cops and Autumnus have records going back millenia, and they never managed to fully kill them despite many victories. Their tech eludes simple reverse engineering. Without that, no one can really permanently disable all their machines."
Valron: "...Hm. I wonder if it's possible to trap him in an inescapable pincer out of spite. I could go for a good laugh."
Illian MacGregor: "I'd say they have their own Smash Energy, really. Makes trapping them hard."
Valron: "Hm. Interesting."
Illian MacGregor: "They can make Steam do things that are totally impossible. So even if we made the Questers attack them, they could kill or at least elude the Questers... No. I know what I must do now."
Valron: "...What?"
Illian MacGregor: "This is not the first time my team has abandoned me or died off. But I built my forces with that possibility in mind. We shall quit worrying about outside forces and instead build up our own by taking over areas."
Valron: "I see..."
Illian MacGregor: "My current data suggests that Jack is weak. Garrick said something about dealing with him. His land is open for us to take."
Valron: "...Heh. I wanted to make his stuff my own, anyways. His resources would certainly be helpful in restoring the control points."
Illian MacGregor: "The Solarian forces can attack his land, and we can try and destroy him by invoking the Mad Men powers on you instead. We can fully assimilate whatever minuscule abilities he has left behind. Then with those forces we have a reservoir of Alsan energy. Red Text can land and build his forces up on our new continent."
Valron: "And as I mentioned before. With Jack out of the picture, there's nothing really in the way of me taking whatever portion of Alsa's control points that he has, and I can restore whatever he's screwed up."
Illian MacGregor: "I can use my technology to help revive the PSO people who lived there and add their machines to our own. Then... we can build more Kujan ships... in our own plans, instead."
Valron: "After all, repairing them is a simple matter of having enough money or power on hand."
Illian MacGregor: "When the Questers arrive, we can attack them with an entire armada larger than Kuja's own fleet. We may not have specialists like Xavier. But we can master enough raw force to annihilate any part of space or time they might try to stand on. We can force Borne to work with us, as our massive army could be turned against him if he does not see reason."
Valron: "Also, sir. I was thinking of ways to weaponize the anti-reality warp magic, though I'm not entirely sure how viable some forms of doing so would be..."
Illian MacGregor: "The plan provides for making that possible. Alsan Energy can be used to shut down all teleporters and by extension warp magic. If we re-secure the country and the nodes, then we can block all warp technology on Alsa, and then make fields to extend that to ourselves."
Valron: "That would certainly be quite helpful, yes."
Illian MacGregor: "We must hurry, however. I have determined Jack is at his castle. I have already connected with Red Text. You and I would lead the attack on his castle. We must start immediately. If you are ready?"
Valron: "And if they try to bring in anything that could damage reality from the outside, I was thinking of making bombs, missiles, and the like with that sort of power so as to nip that in the bud. Ready as I'll ever be, sir."
Illian MacGregor: "We shall have to research that... One moment."
Metal Man (GM): Illian turns to the control panel and types in his orders.
Illian MacGregor: "Solarian Fleet! Mobilize and warp in! We have come to take another country for the motherland! Attack and destroy anything that belongs to Jack the Widowmaker, and secure the continent! It was I who designed Alsa, and we shall avenge the destruction of men, women, and children that he did! It is in that way that Jack is just as bad as the hated Charles Magellean. Remember your hatred for that foul being, and use it against this new foul being!"
Metal Man (GM): You'd hear a bunch of people speaking in a dialect you don't understand, as the ship would warp over Alsa. And be joined by hundreds of other ones just like it.
Illian MacGregor: "The crew of the Eternal Dauntless shall handle flying it. Let's go warp down and attack directly." *He would take out his shotguns and open a warp, walking inside.*
Valron nods, walking into the warp as well.
Metal Man (GM): WWWARP You'd warp... onto familiar ground. A golf course, nearby a giant mountain that has "JACK ROCKS" carved into it. And a go-kart track. Inlaid with diamonds. And the giant castle made of diamond.
Valron: "...Note to self: When we conquer this place, mine out the whole go-kart track."
Metal Man (GM): The area is strangely deserted, as a Solarian platoon appears behind you. Then two others. They appear to be an armada of pale looking men and women equipped with cybernetics.
Valron: "Either way, it's suspiciously quiet. Be on your toes, folks."
Metal Man (GM): Skinnier and taller than usual, they move with an unusual grace, and seem to have crystals about them. They would nod, then begin to follow as Illian would turn on his foot jets and begin gliding towards the castle. No resistance. No nothing. Not even skeletons.
Valron: *Would fly behind Illian, looking around, quite suspicious as to the lack of resistance.*
Illian MacGregor: "My scouts have reported that the planet no longer is supporting Jack's scouts. Er, skeletons. Without them he has basically nothing. He ruled this place by fear. But his weapons were destroyed out from under him."
Valron: "Something isn't adding up here..."
Metal Man (GM): You'd near the front door. Jack's voice would be heard.
Jack: "...I don't know who the hell you are, but get away from my castle! And stop invading my golf course!"
Illian MacGregor: "He's not going to open the door. Open fire."
Metal Man (GM): The Solarians raise their rifles and fire a hail of grenades, magic and bombs at the door.
Jack: "WHOA! WHAT THE HELL? WHO BROUGHT AN ARMY TO ATTACK MY CASTLE?"
Metal Man (GM): The castle starts to crack and take heavy damage from the attacks.
Valron: "Take a wild guess."
Jack: "You... you! YOU! You can't take my castle, Dragoshi! Your army of flunkies won't stop me!"
Valron: "Yawn."
Metal Man (GM): *Large explosion rips a hole in the door.*
Jack: "Gaaaaaah f@#$!"
Metal Man (GM): He starts running. The soldiers walk up to the door and smash it to pieces. Illian glides in, as the soldiers walk inside, shooting the place to bits.
Valron: "Gray 'ol mare ain't as good as she used to be, huh?" *He flies in, Borne-22 in hand as he goes to pursue Jack.*
Illian MacGregor: "I see he had many trophies. See to it that they are destroyed."
Soldier: "Yes sir!"
Metal Man (GM): A strange looking man with a guitar walks up. It's the bouncer from Jack's bar.
Bouncer: "You... you... stand back dude!"
Illian MacGregor raises a shotgun at his head.
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOM.*
Valron: "...Do you really need this jo- Woah!"
Metal Man (GM): He's dead.
Valron: "...Classy." *He just continues his hunt for Red Jacktober.*
Illian MacGregor: "He deserved it, my data stream detected he was an evil murderer."
Metal Man (GM): Illian kicks the body aside, then floats up the stairs. You would follow him, up to the wall filled with bricks that were Quester gold.
Illian MacGregor: "Ah. The gold he took. It's ours now."
Jack: "The hell it is!"
Illian MacGregor: "Come out and say that to my face."
Jack: "DAMMIT!!!"
Metal Man (GM): He runs upstairs as Illian's soldiers walk into the bar and smash it to bits.
Illian MacGregor: "He has nowhere to go. It'll be time to fight him. Get ready."
Metal Man (GM): Illian would float up the last set of stairs, and find the door locked. Then smash the door off the hinges, it flying off the wall. Jack would be cornered, atop the roof. He'd stand there, holding a phase pistol.
Jack: "What the hell is your problem? I didn't fight you. Not directly."
Valron: *Would follow behind, calmly levelling the Borne-22 at Jack.*
Jack: "You... you had to bring an entire alien army at me! And... wait. Did you have anything to do with the planet turning against me?"
Illian MacGregor: "I'm afraid it did that on its own."
Valron: "I wish. In any case, you owe me like... at least 50'000 coins, going by the price of those oracle statues that one guy offered to us way back when. And that's with some pretty insane interest. ...Though, I'll tell ya what. I'll take a deposit in the form of your smoldering corpse and call it a day. Maybe."
Jack: "Stand back... I have a Phase Pistol!"
Illian MacGregor: "..."
Metal Man (GM): Illian points at the mountain range. The Eternal Dauntless BLASTS IT TO SMITHEREENS.
Valron: "...And I have an army."
Jack: "D-damn! What the hell is wrong with you people?"
Valron: "I was a Quester once. Does that answer your question?"
Illian MacGregor: "You have land which is needed for my plans against the Questers. You have no remaining army. And I really hate you for trying to twist my own planet against me."
Jack: "Well, you can explode all you want! I'll fight you to the end. I'm Jack the f@#$in' Widowmaker, and I will DESTROY YOU!"
Metal Man (GM): BOSS BATTLE; Vs. Jack Roll init.
Illian MacGregor: *Holds hand to the side* "Let me and Valron handle this, soldiers. This is personal."
Metal Man (GM): They would nod, then silently ensure Jack has nowhere to run. While continuing to loot and pillage the castle.
Valron: *Sighs* "Guess I'll have to make the deposit myself. Figures."
Metal Man (GM): And set up turrets, and burn down Jack's flag.
Jack: "Damn it all! I had to switch out my echidna for unreliable skeletons! Just when I need them most, space aliens come and smash my castle!"
Metal Man (GM): Order: Illian, Valron, Jack
Illian MacGregor: "There is no more time for your games. Only your death."
Metal Man (GM): He raises his shotgun and flanks Jack, then fires on him. 50 damage. Jack looks like a small cannon blasted a hole in him.
Jack: "Gah... uch... what... what kind of monster are you?"
Illian MacGregor: "This is what a former Quester can do."
Metal Man (GM): Actually Jack is very hittable. Illian is just inhumanly accurate.
Valron aims the Borne-22 for a moment, before just going to up and shoot Jack with it. To hell with anything fancy.
Dragoshi: *1d20+8 Deadly Aim.*
Metal Man (GM): Hit. He recoils again, ripped by more bullets.
Jack: "Dah! Why does Borne's weaponry always end up used against me? I have no staff... and this gun had to be cobbled together with pieces of other ones... I don't care! You're going down!"
Metal Man (GM): He powers up and fires the gun at all of you, creating a huge wave. DC 15 Reflex save. Naturally Illian is not even remotely phased.
Dragoshi: *1d20+5 Probably might not be as lucky. Perhaps.*
Metal Man (GM): He misses both of you. He lets our a long string of curses.
Illian MacGregor: "Your time has ended."
Metal Man (GM): He flies up into Jack's face and grabs him, and then starts mercilessly punching him in the face. Jack is unable to stop him and gets pieces violently torn out of his face by the onslaught.
Jack: "The Mad Men are supposed to be the most powerful! Who said that maniacs with jet boots and Dragoshi could fight us on an even keel?"
Illian MacGregor: "I did."
Jack: "..."
Metal Man (GM): Illian is holding Jack, so Jack can't really dodge much anymore.
Valron: *Quickly switches out for his scythe, before charging Jack, attempting to tear into him with a brutal swing!* (Should I even roll for this or assume Coup de Grace or what)
Metal Man (GM): Hm. He's not fully helpless, so roll it.
Dragoshi: *1d20+7 Assuming it is...*
Metal Man (GM): It is. You hit him. You slash him even further. He falls down, bleeding metal goo.
Jack: "This isn't how it ends! Not some buddy cop reject invasion!"
Metal Man (GM): He starts glowing violently.
Illian MacGregor: "You and what energy?"
Metal Man (GM): Lightning starts to rip out of the ground.
Jack: "I ruled this planet once! The energy of Dyne does not bend to anyone, not even someone who presumes to be his creator!"
Valron: "Was wondering when you'd stop putzing around..."
Metal Man (GM): Green cracks form in him as he is surrounded by a field of energy.
Jack: "YOU MAY HAVE DEFEATED THIS BODY, BUT IT IS THE BEARER OF A LEGACY GREATER THAN YOU KNOW. NOT EVEN THE ABANDONMENT OF ALSA CAN MAKE ME INERT.."
Metal Man (GM): He reaches out of thin air, and rips a new staff into existence--a green one.
Valron: "...Looks like the warm-up round's over, boss."
Jack: "By killing the original Dyne, his powers went to me! They were never needed so I just left them off. But now you f@#$ers have really pissed me off! DIE.."
Metal Man (GM): He points his staff and begins firing a hail of deathrays everywhere! Reflex save.
Dragoshi: *1d20+5 somehow I don't think I'm going to manage.*
Metal Man (GM): Illian flies out of the way, while Dragoshi eats a beam. Will Save.
Dragoshi: *1d20+1 ahahahahahhaha fuck you*
Metal Man (GM): Which you then succeed! 10 damage, but no death.
Valron: "Augh!"
Metal Man (GM): He also kills a number of soldiers and blasts huge holes in the castle.
Valron: "That... could've gone a lot more poorly."
Metal Man (GM): He then spins the staff around.
Jack: "Now let's finish this! I'll kill you both and put your heads on pikes like I planned to do when I first saw you!"
Valron: *He takes a sharp breath* "Right."
Metal Man (GM): He flies up to Illian and decides to try and beat him up with the staff. Illian is hit by the first, but flies away from the other one. Oh yes. You can AOO him. Illian takes damage, but not much. He IS pretty heavily armored.
Dragoshi: *1d20+7 Potential Power Strike to the face, goooooo 1d20+7 That. Was not a thing that happened.*
Metal Man (GM): He nearly holds you back, but that roll is too much even for his boosted AC.
Valron: "Mmph!"
Metal Man (GM): Illian would hold up his palm and go to slam it into Jack's face.
Illian MacGregor: "TRI-ATTACK."
Metal Man (GM): He explodes thin air as Jack flies to the left of him.
Jack: "What's the matter? Not used to having an actual foe who moves?"
Valron says nothing as he attempts to tear more chunks out of Jackdyne or whatever.
Metal Man (GM): He dodges again.
Jack: "Now you know what I am. I'm no mere dust particle! F@#$ YOU! AND YOU! AND YOU!"
Metal Man (GM): He makes a middle finger and starts attacking with the Finger of Death. Fort save for Dragoshi and Illian.
Dragoshi: *1d20+4 This is gonna be painful isn't it.*
Metal Man checks what the save ought to be.
Metal Man (GM): Hm. That's still enough to resist, BUUUT... He still deals insane amounts of damage. 28 damage to Valron; 22 to Illian. Nope. The full version would have been more like 150 damage. This would be why his incantation for it appears to be "F@#$ YOU."
Valron: *Is blasted back and sent skidding and tumbling. He's not dead, but he's not going to be feeling too hot after that.*
Metal Man (GM): His fingers glow a bit longer in the aftermath of that. Illian looks like he took a solid hit, too.
Valron: *...once he's revived.*
Jack: "I'm not going to just lay over and let you TAKE what's MINE! Get off my f@$%ING CASTLE."
Metal Man (GM): Illian snaps his fingers and some medics go to revive Valron.
Valron gets up, grumbling a bit.
Metal Man (GM): Full health, but you miss a turn. While they do that Illian cocks his shotgun and goes to blast Jack's face.
Jack: "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!."
Metal Man (GM): His face EXPLODES.
Valron: "...Did you revive me just so I could see you do that?"
Illian MacGregor: "In a matter of speaking, yes."
Valron: "Is this some sort of belated birthday present?" *Low whistle.*
Metal Man (GM): Jack lands on the ground, no longer really having a face. It just got MAGITEK'D into the next dimension. Jack stands up every so slowly, relying on his staff for support. He's beginning to fail to be able to hold himself anymore.
Jack: "D... amn... maybe you did create this place..."
Metal Man (GM): He would then fumble about, not seeing so well.
Jack: "You know... maybe I can get behind you being the leader of this place. You're... the only sonuvab@#$h as vicious as me that I've seen on this planet... ..." *He would grip his spear.* "I'm still not going to just lay down and die. You'll have to EARN this!"
Metal Man (GM): He holds up a hand.
Jack: "...Ele, Ele Ele Ele!"
Metal Man (GM): He batters Illian back into a wall with Alsan magic.
Jack: "You see? YOU SEE? You can't just TAKE IT!"
Metal Man (GM): Illian pries himself out of the wall, then goes to punch Jack in the gut.
Valron: "At least it'll be a fight well-won!"
Metal Man (GM): He pushes Jack back, knocking the wind out of him, then backhanding him.
Valron gets back into the fray after Illian does his bunches of punches, once again attempting his usual carving maneuvers.
Metal Man (GM): He steps back.
Jack: "You may be the grim reaper, but I'm still an artful dodger! Now... take some of this!"
Metal Man (GM): He rips off pieces of the castle with his mind and hurls them at Valron. Reflex save.
Dragoshi: *1d20+5 oh Christie what.*
Metal Man (GM): You duck as a hail of debris flies everywhere and smashes into things. He hurls them at Illian next. Illian gets smacked in the noggin with a piece, cracking his helmet.
Illian MacGregor: "..."
Metal Man (GM): He seems very mad.
Valron: "...Oh dear."
Jack: "What's the matter? Did I break the single weak point on your armor?"
Valron: "...Worse."
Metal Man (GM): Illian aims his palm.
Jack: "Hah! You can't hit me with that!"
Metal Man (GM): ...He then touches the ground.
Jack: "Huh?"
Metal Man (GM): BOOOOOM A huge chunk of the castle flies off, hitting Jack. He lands down at the bottom, relatively unscathed.
Jack: "I don't get it. What's that going to do to me?"
Metal Man (GM): Illian just idly walks off the edge... and leaps to Goomba Stomp Jack.
Jack: "Oh F---"
Metal Man (GM): *SMASH.*
Valron: "...wow."
Metal Man (GM): Illian steps off of Jack, who is now basically distorted and faceless. He holds on to his crumbly looking staff drunkenly.
Jack: "I always say... I kill the guy with the futuristic deathrays... eh heh heh heh heh... what is that, multiple metal guys? You want to kill me? Don't try to do that... I'll kick your a@#... ugh..."
Metal Man (GM): You can hit him from here. He seems too dazed to do much of anything anymore.
Valron: *Takes a deep breath, deciding to follow suit. Sorta. Instead of leaping to Goomba stomp Jack, he goes to fly down and... divebomb him. With his scythe. Scythebomb?* (Any roll shenanigans I need to keep in mind or)
Metal Man (GM): At one point he was a threat, but he clearly was never meant to take on the very person who created his planet and you and an entire army and Garrick and the succession of people who beat him up over and over again. Nah, just roll normally, heck, add +2 to it.
Dragoshi: *1d20+9 in any case WELP HERE IT GOES MAYBE.*
Metal Man (GM): I'm just going to call this cutscene power to the max and save us fumbling with dice. The dazed Jack is stabbed by the scythe. He gives a last middle finger before disintegrating into a pile of pretty metal flakes. There is nothing left of him. He has been annihilated.
Valron: "That had better be it."
Illian MacGregor: "I can be sure. The last energy left him in that moment."
Valron: "Because if some sort of giga enerJack pops up I am going to be quite cross with the universe."
Illian MacGregor: "Normally that could happen. But I am the one who helped set that up."
Valron: "So... What now?"
Metal Man (GM): He would leap down, using the rocket boots to slow his descent.
Illian MacGregor: "This castle is ours. I am building my headquarters here. We shall build the army and obtain the Mad Men powers for you, and fight for the node."
Valron: "Noted."
Illian MacGregor: "Red Text shall also come. You shall help me revive the PSO People. We shall marshal the largest armada ever seen."
Valron: "And how will we go about reviving them?"
Illian MacGregor: "Magitek. Solarian machines shall be used on their corpses, in tandem with the Alsan energy."
Valron: "Aahh. Handy."
Illian MacGregor: "We shall revive their most important individuals and then integrate their people into our ranks. We must have the most technologically advanced army in existence to destroy the Questers."
Valron: "Shall we make our way there now, then?"
Illian MacGregor: "Yes. My people will retrofit this castle."
Metal Man (GM): He would walk outside the door and lead the way to a transport.
Valron follows along, getting onto the transport.
Editor's Note: And thus, BATTLE 1: VS. JACK THE WIDOWMAKER concludes.
