Sloan: "I tried to reprogram them. All I could get them to do is dance the Funky Chicken."
Emperor Cylus: "Even our magic spells could not turn those... men-machines."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Borne's soldiers are pretty well equipped. Well trained, well armed... any one of us here could probably take down a few of them, but we'd eventually be overrun. So, I propose we sneak in in disguise."
O'Neill: "A wannabe Anubis, preparing to take over the galaxy. He already has the planet in the palm of his hand..."
Sloan: "I've tried. They have a mind chip in them."
Gibby: "Wouldn't the force... field... thingy know what we look like inside though?"
Garrick Fy`aar smirks. "Not as soldiers."
Dragoshi: "Oh?"
Sloan: "Can't fake it. Can't even remote control fake it. ...Huh?"
Garrick Fy`aar clicks a button on his wrist computer, the scan zeroing in on a device on the soldiers belt.
Anthon Tark: "You stumped Sloan, that makes today worth it already. I spend all day trying to think of something. He keeps telling me he already tried it."
O'Neill: "...Uhhh... count me as confused. How do you fit people inside there?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "This is a standard data storage device carried by all of Borne's men. It holds information about various scanning procedures, communication channels, warp frequencies. Simple." *He flicks a switch, the picture changing to one of a blueprint of a complicated looking machine.* "As data."
Emperor Cylus: "Thinking outside of box is clearly a strength this former-Quester has. Much better than you group at that."
Garrick Fy`aar: "This device can take living human matter and transform it into computer data."
Anthon Tark: "Hmmm... you might be on to something there. Those Mad Men never objected to beaming their souls everywhere and thinking it was the same person."
Gibby: "You've lost me."
Sloan: "It's possible, but... ...that's just weird."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We lure Borne's soldiers out into the open, let them go, and transfer ourselves via data transfer into one of their belt devices. They go back into their base and suddenly we're inside."
O'Neill: "This had better not be like that body swapper device we encountered..."
Gibby: "How would we be un... data-ed?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "That's the brilliant part." *He hits another command on his computer, showing log information on Borne.* "It says here in Red Text's information that Borne has access to warping technology."
Sloan: "Yes. Time Cop warp technology, even. High quality."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Warps have the ability to reconstruct matter in it's original form. That's how we're able to get from one place to another even when we're composed of magic or such back in the old days."
Sloan: "But I never managed to break in, no matter how many Time Cop devices I used at once... ...you propose to somehow sneak a device inside?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Not at all. We hack Borne's."
Anthon Tark: "Use his own tech against him. Classic."
Sloan: "...Curses. My plan to crash the moon into that base has been obsoleted."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We use his own warp technology against him. We warp into some unseen place in his base, and go about our merry business of wrecking everything."
Sloan: "I was even going to draw a massive unhappy face on it..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "My suggestion as we get in there is to drop the shield. That way, our friends here can send in forces to distract Borne while we locate the cloning information and take it out."
Anthon Tark: "Who will be doing this data lifeform experiment? I'm not getting anywhere near any of that. My machines will help distract his forces though."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I trust my science. Plus, I need to be there to do the hacking. So I'll be going."
Sloan: "I will go personally. I want to kill him."
Gibby: "Well I trust Garrick, so I'll go too."
Dragoshi: "I'll come along if that's alright. A little extra muscle never hurt."
Emperor Cylus: "I will send my experienced troops to provide a distraction, by simultaneously striking a different target we have been planning on hitting."
O'Neill: "My men are not getting anywhere near that device, but they will gladly provide a distraction. Perhaps jam his signals so he takes longer to figure anything out as well."
Garrick Fy`aar: "There is another side to this, though."
Anthon Tark: "One question though... do we really know all the angles here? I've lost a lot to plans that looked nice, then failed."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Honestly? Not really. Borne is secretive. It's hard to get a read on him."
Anthon Tark: "This won't be as risky for me, but... I would like to present a secondary suggestion. Sloan and I have been studying the dome. And Red Text's laser weapon. O'Neill is right. It is folded over onto itself. If the laser weapon were to get close enough to be inside only one of the fields and fired inside, it would ricochet."
Illian MacGregor: "Red Text will not sacrifice his satellite just for that."
Anthon Tark: "You may not have any other choice."
Garrick Fy`aar thinks for a moment...
Illian MacGregor: "...Let us hope it doesn't come to that."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...it's possible, I suppose..."
Sloan: "The issue is it is very inefficient. Only the deathray from Red Text could destabilize it. Anything else isn't powerful enough."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Dangerous, but possible. The backlash of that much energy could do more than just take out the dome..."
Anthon Tark: "Yes. It could cascade. Others have been reluctant. But if it remains impervious... I fear it may be the only choice."
O'Neill: "It's not my planet, just don't get my soldiers caught in the blast. And don't blow up the entire galaxy. I had enough problems when that Rodney McKay I dislike did that."
Dragoshi: "Aye... Best to put that down as a last-resort option, in any case."
Gibby: "VERY last..."
Anthon Tark: "...I will also continue to think on this problem. If I come up with anything else, I'll tell you."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That doesn't make my option any less dangerous, but it has the bright side of losing... five or six people as opposed to thousands. Needs of the many and all that..."
Illian MacGregor: "Yes."
Dragoshi nods.
Anthon Tark: "Yes. I would only suggest it if things get out of hand. It is likely if this fails he will react with extreme prejudice. Even though most of my land is just robots, he has never stopped attacking my planet."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We don't know how far along his cloning projects are. He could have none of me in there. He could have an army."
Sloan: "Or mine, but mine is... very interesting!"
Gibby: "An army of Garricks... think of the brain power."
Anthon Tark: "Yes. An entire planet of Goa'uld with spring logos on their foreheads. I send my least favorite advisors to that planet."
Sloan: "We're waiting on you, then, we're ready."
O'Neill: "My forces will wait for your signal."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I think I can get about... five people, maybe six inside the data crystal without anyone being any wiser."
Anthon Tark: "My robots will be ready. I need live fire data for them anyway."
Garrick Fy`aar: "With Sloan onboard, that leaves one space if Illian here is going."
Illian MacGregor: "That is up to you. But I have... someone else in mind, perhaps one who is more sneaky."
Dragoshi: "And that would be...?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "If you have another option, then please."
Illian MacGregor: "Ragnar. He looks like a cat, but... well..."
Ragnar: *He comes trotting in.*
Gibby: "Oh no..."
Ragnar: "Meow!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "..."
Illian MacGregor: "Looks are not what you exactly get."
Dragoshi: "...I see."
Illian MacGregor: "Don't worry. He must also serve the laws I have noted."
Garrick Fy`aar stares at the thing for a minute before gently touching his temple and scanning it.
Gibby: "Good. We don't need him getting sticky hand-erm... paws."
O'Neill: "Just don't be like the Soviets. They made a cybernetic cat... then it got run over crossing the street. O'Neill out." *Click.*
Emperor Cylus: "I will await your word, then send my men." *Click.*
Sloan: "I'm coming aboard right now, because the time for action is soon." *Click.*
Anthon Tark: "... Good luck with your cat guy thing." *Click.*
Ragnar: *He blinks at Garrick's scanning. There's something else there... but it's hard to tell exactly what.*
Gibby: "What are you scanning?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "I wanna know what this is."
Gibby: "A cat... person. Right?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "As long as it's not another Digimon... ...or a demon..."
Illian MacGregor: "No Digimon."
Ragnar: *No Digimon.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...well, I suppose."
Illian MacGregor: "It summons beings to do its bidding. It is not a demon, though. If it does anything uncouth I will deal with it, but for this mission it... he... is qualified."
Metal Man (GM): *WARP.*
Sloan: "Besides, I will be there!"
Gibby: "I sure hope so."
Marley: "...Or you could have me come with you, too."
Ragnar: *Tail twitch.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Alright. I guess we're getting this show on the road. We'll use Emperor Cylus' distraction as a way to get ourselves into one of the soldiers."
Marley: "I've been waitin' forever to kill that Borne sunuvab#$ch."
Gibby: "Is it gonna hurt, Garrick?"
Dragoshi: "Sounds like a plan."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Nah... it's sorta like a warp?"
Illian MacGregor: "Affirmative."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Something like that. Honestly, Marley, I think you'd be best to wait here until we bring the shield down. Then, once we're going full bore attack, you come in and start busting heads."
Marley: "...I will rally the Echidnas for that then."
Metal Man (GM): He stares with the fury of hell in his eyes.
Marley: "Borne and the Questers who backed him will DIE."
Gibby backs away from Marley slowly.
Illian MacGregor: "He is... understandably mad, given he helped the Questers and... they killed him."
Gibby: "F-fair enough..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "See, that's exactly why... we need quiet to start out with until the shield goes down... then, when the shield goes down, THEN we get angry."
Sloan: "I couldn't agree more. Borne is a sour apple who'll smush us all if we make too many noises. Have to worm our way in and rip out his defenses first!"
Gibby could go for an apple right about now.
Marley: "I don't trust Sloan... but he is the one going to battle for me, so it's his skin."
Sloan: "Don't worry your wrathful body over it, I'll shoot him with ten Zat blasts and we can all go vacation somewhere not in outer space."
Illian MacGregor: "So, are you ready to go?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Okay..."
Gibby takes a deep breath.
Ragnar: *Nod nod, bounce bounce.*
Gibby: "Ready and willing."
Garrick Fy`aar reaches to his belt and takes out a small device, handing it to Marley.
Sloan takes out a Zat gun and opens it up, then turns on a personal force field.
Dragoshi: "Ready."
Marley: *Takes it* "What's this?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "This device with carry us into the battlefield. I should be able to see outside and transfer us into one of the soldier's storage units. All you need to do is hold onto it."
Marley: "...Then I shall hold onto it like the entire world is in my hands."
Illian MacGregor: "I will coordinate with Red Text to warn of any... unusual occurrences."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I've built in an emergency button into my setup."
Gibby: "Always thinking ahead."
Garrick Fy`aar: "If things go nuts, our own warp system will get us out of there... but once we get into Borne's shield, it won't work. Okay... if everyone is ready..."
Sloan: "Ready and locked."
Marley: "I've been waiting fitty years for this..."
Ragnar: *He springs onto Garrick's shoulder.*
Illian MacGregor: "This obstacle will get out of our way. One way or another."
Metal Man (GM): Marley's arms glow as he takes out his own phase pistol.
Dragoshi: "Indeed it shall."
Sloan: "You still use those primitive things?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Alright. Red Text, zero in on our position and activate data link with the storage device. Digitize us."
Gibby checks his items.
Marley: "This is the oldest one. The last one to actually just be a pistol."
Gibby: "Yup. All set."
Red Text: "I have you locked... just a double check... you REALLY want me to do this? Normally anything I do is... well... you didn't use to trust me."
Dragoshi also checks his things. "I'm good to go."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I trust you, Red Text. It'll be fine. I know it."
Gibby: "Be gentle if possible."
Dragoshi: "Aye. We're all in this together."
Red Text: "Well, that's something I never expected to hear. But don't worry... I'll do this right."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Besides, if you betray us, Borne gets to go free and he'll kill you eventually, so... eh."
Red Text: "...Eheh... eheh... good point!"
Metal Man (GM): *VOOSH* THE DIGITAL WORLD The invasion group would appear inside the device... which is sort of like a miniature space ship. A camera in the side would show an image of the outer world, pixellated. Marley would hold it up to his eye and stare.
Marley: "All right... this is awfully weird... pixellated people, in th' palm of my hand... I'm going. I can hear you... I have my comms on."
Metal Man (GM): You'd see him walk into the warp. Then you'd see the surface of Alsa, and also see lines... the lines in the air are various other devices and radio beacons.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Everything looks clear Marley... you only need to get us close. I'll inform you before we leave. Make sure not to kill all of them..."
Gibby: "Woah..." *He looks at the pixellated image.*
Marley: "I'll do my best not to. Not when I could kill every last one of them AFTER you take down that lab."
Metal Man (GM): Marley appears to go invisible. Some sort of Echidna magic. He walks near the outside of the dome. You would see Borne's men holding guard.
Gibby: "I'm so glad we're being held by someone with a thirst for blood."
Metal Man (GM): Marley points the device at one of the men.
Dragoshi: "Wow..."
Garrick Fy`aar pulls up a sort of digitized keyboard and hits a few commands... "Alright, establishing connection..."
Marley: "I can just beam you in, but there's no guarantee of them heading inside."
Ragnar: *He continues sitting on Garrick's shoulder, waiting.*
Marley: "You want me to give them a reason to go inside, or hold off?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Give us about... five minutes after we leave, then give them a scare."
Marley: "Got it."
Metal Man (GM): He lets you go and type in. Their devices are readily hackable.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Alright... breaking in..."
Sloan: "Getting in their device... shouldn't be the problem. It's the devices INSIDE that will be the problem... Mostly because, well... soldiers are just meat to him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, that'll be the stuff we'll have to fight..."
Marley: "They are to you too, Sloan."
Sloan: "Touche."
Gibby could go for some meat.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Be ready for a fight, guys... I dunno what kinda protection they have in there... alright, I'm in."
Gibby nods.
Metal Man (GM): You see a teleport between your node and the guy's device.
Dragoshi also nods.
Metal Man (GM): The device looks much like a Smash Dex. No wonder it was easy to break in to.
Garrick Fy`aar: "This is gonna feel weird. Annnnnnnnd... transfering."
Metal Man (GM): *VOOSH* You're in the device. Alongside a massive virtual storeroom. And a smaller, lower resolution camera.
Marley: "I'm going to have to go radio silence. They'll pick up anything I'm sending if I get too chatty."
Gibby: "Tingly..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Five minutes, Marley. Mark."
Marley: "Right. Marley out."
Ragnar: *He looks around confusedly, but stays quiet. This is a stealth mission so far, after all.*
Metal Man (GM): The man walks around, oblivious to what just happened. He picks up his dex and radios Borne with it.
Soldier: "No activity in this quadrant sir."
Borne: "Check the next one. Something feels off. An off-world warp and no action? Impossible."
Soldier: "Affirmative, sir."
Metal Man (GM): He puts the object back at his belt and starts sweeping more areas near the base.
Sloan stares at his watch.
Metal Man (GM): You start hearing noises in the distance, as time flies by in the digital world.
Garrick Fy`aar watches carefully through the camera... Marley should be making his approach soon.
Gibby: "Is it starting already?"
Metal Man (GM): The Soldier takes out the device again.
Soldier: "Hoooleeee @#$%, we have multiple invaders from multiple factions!"
Borne: "Go into the field! You can't hold them off!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "There it is... they're moving in. And here we go..."
Metal Man (GM): You hear a lot of gunfire and Borne's men running scared from an onslaught of weaponry. This soldier runs as well.
Dragoshi: "Well, that was unexpected."
Metal Man (GM): Around him, most of his companions are mowed down.
Gibby: "But useful."
Soldier: "Sir! We can't hold the outside at all!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "As soon as he gets past the shield..."
Borne: "There's another problem. Terrorists have blown up part of the command center. They're using ex-Trevelyan helicopters."
Metal Man (GM): You see images of Echidnas in hovercopters shooting rockets into the GUN building.
Gibby: "Nice!"
Borne: "Reroute power from the shield to the command center. We can't have those mongrels breaking in!"
Dragoshi: "Very good..."
Soldier: "Yes sir!"
Metal Man (GM): The soldier approaches the field.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yes... almost..."
Metal Man (GM): ...Then he opens a trapdoor in the ground and climbs in... the door is covered by a hologram. He then climbs under and back out inside the shield.
Sloan: "...All this time and I never thought of that."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Alright! Here we go..."
Dragoshi: "...Charming."
Metal Man (GM): On the way in, his mind control chip is authenticated. Hm. And also your first enemy inside the device. Scanner probes!
Garrick Fy`aar starts sending signals into the base quietly, trying to keep under the radar as he locates the connection to the warp device...
Sloan: "It looks like they also have a system scan when they enter."
Gibby: "Look out!"
Sloan: "We have to kill them before they figure out what we are."
Gibby takes out his sword.
Garrick Fy`aar: "I can't help you, I've got to do this as fast as I can. Take them out, fast and hard."
Metal Man (GM): Roll inits for those fighting the probes.
Ragnar: *He leaps down and brandishes what appears to be a dart gun built onto his paw.*
Metal Man (GM): Order: Sloan 7, Gibby 6, Deloth 3, Probes 2.
Sloan: "I'll stun them into oblivion."
Metal Man (GM): Order: Sloan 7, Gibby 6, Deloth 3, Probes 2, Dragoshi 0. Sloan hits the probes. They suffer a -4 to AGI for a round.
Sloan: "Take 'em down, I stunned them."
Gibby attacks one of the probes with a slash of his sword.
Metal Man (GM): Hit. They basically have no AC after what happened to them, so consider that for any "over hits." Feel free to ask if anything trips you up, this system is still a bit creaky.
Ragnar: *He howls, and what appears to be a goddess dressed in Chinese garb appears over him. With a flick of her wrist, the first probe is blasted with a spray of ice shards for 11 damage.*
Metal Man (GM): Probes. The Probes pathetically slowly attempt to hit Sloan. They move so slowly that you might even feel sorry for them. Sloan tip toes away from them in slow motion.
Dragoshi levels Phantom's Machinegun at the first Probe, then opens fire on it with a hail of gunfire.
Metal Man (GM): They basically have no AC, so, yeah. Sloan fires at them with the Zat... again. They are annihilated.
Sloan: "Well, that's it for that."
Metal Man (GM): Now, for Garrick.
Ragnar: *Victory bounce!*
Gibby: "Quick and easy, just how I like it."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick: Looking for a teleporter of some kind?
Dragoshi: "Indeed."
Metal Man (GM): You look... and discover that this base has a warp, but not a warp system. The soldiers literally have been entering through underground holes concealed by other tech you had no clue was even there--most likely because while those holes were not impervious to people, they did block light, sound, etc It's an old warp device hidden further inside and surrounded by security protocols. Bit of a concern.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Thiiiiis isn't good..."
Dragoshi: "What's up?"
Gibby: "What's wrong?"
Sloan: "Something the matter?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "The warp is an old style warp, like we had years ago. It uses fixed points instead of transferring from point to point."
Gibby: "So that means..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I won't be able to place us in any set location."
Metal Man (GM): The soldier walks further inside. Weirdly, he is actually walking towards the warp itself.
Gibby: "So now what do we do?"
Metal Man (GM): Hallways pass by. You glance at one that says "genetic engineering" but he walks too fast to see it.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Now I try to break through their security protocols..." *He pauses as he sees that...* "...or..."
Metal Man (GM): He walks down burnt out hallways.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...no, the security protocols. He's moving to fast, always getting out of range."
Metal Man (GM): ...This is rather familiar territory, to some, maybe Dragoshi. This is the device that... that recreated Nintendus. That's the warp Garrick is talking about. The world creation engine. It's also what is making that barrier.
Garrick Fy`aar starts trying to break into the warp systems...
Metal Man (GM): Vylch worked on it... ...nobody from then is here except maybe Deloth and that was Deloth, not Ragnar, heh. You go to break in and find a jump onto those systems.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Got a connection!"
Gibby: "Excellent."
Dragoshi: "Fantastic."
Metal Man (GM): It's risky and possibly dangerous, but the man seems poised to walk away from it soon as he's just changing a setting or two on it.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Hang on, this is gonna be bumpy. Be ready for a fight."
Gibby: "Always."
Sloan: "Those systems are damaged... let's hope we don't reform without our arms."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Connection established... transferring."
Metal Man (GM): *VOOSH* You appear in a weird, ruined version of cyberspace.
Gibby: "Without out wh--"*VOOSH.*
Metal Man (GM): Your avatars are pixellated and the world is fading in and out constantly.
Gibby: "I feel... bit sized."
Ragnar: "..." *He stares at himself.*
Dragoshi: "This... can't be much good."
Metal Man (GM): You would see what looks like the same device you came on, except older, more primitive, and broken. A GIGANTIC door blocks the way out. The door has Borne's GUN symbol on it and huge wires running everywhere outside of the space.
Garrick Fy`aar: "That'll be the firewall..."
Sloan: "This is Illian's tech. That's why it's blocked off. He knew what this was. Illian had it disabled and he just re-enabled it. But naturally, he doesn't want any of us using it."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...we're going to have to break through that wall if we're going to warp out of this space."
Sloan: "The issue is those wires are probably connected far away from here. Everyone will know we're coming."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...not if we do it all at once."
Sloan: "He couldn't have expected us, doing it this way, though... Most likely thinking Illian might try to take direct control of the device."
Garrick Fy`aar: "If he does, he might just wipe the data. And us with it. We can't defend against a format."
Metal Man (GM): Further analysis shows that the firewall mostly covers the "Control" functions. As you blink, you would notice the "warp" function is not as well covered.
Ragnar: *He carefully approaches the door, investigating it.*
Metal Man (GM): It resolves very slowly, of course.
Gibby: "Careful."
Metal Man (GM): Due to the damage of the disk.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...I might be able to bust through there..."
Metal Man (GM): It has a GUN symbol on it too, but it looks rusty. Only one wire on it.
Garrick Fy`aar points."
Sloan: "He wouldn't expect what we are doing, so he has no reason to fear people warping in. He would expect someone trying to use it to erase him from existence. It is tempting to try, but I would not like to be killed."
Dragoshi: "I'd imagine."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Agreed. I'd rather be outside than inside if that happens. Alright... cover me. I'm going to try to break through that area."
Sloan: "So... we can try carefully prying off that cover, or risk everything and try to remove him from history. Take your pick..."
Gibby gets closer to Garrick.
Metal Man (GM): You have the two choices: The smaller, weak hole that is just a warp, or the nasty looking "MAIN CONTROL" hole.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh, no. We're not cheating."
Dragoshi: "I'd rather take the careful approach if you don't mind me being sane."
Metal Man (GM): The smaller one... has one wire on it.
Gibby: "Better to be safe than sorry."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I don't know about you, but I'd rather feel Borne die via bullets and fists rather than just a 'I WIN' button."
Ragnar: *And he backs off from the large door, examining the singular wire on the other door.*
Metal Man (GM): The other door is stuck in place, but only held by that one wire.
Gibby: "I know Marley would."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Quite. And we owe him that."
Metal Man (GM): It would be possible to open without ripping the cord. 2.
Garrick Fy`aar goes to the section Ragnar is looking at, moving past him slightly and getting a good look at the section before trying to remove it without ripping the cord out...
Metal Man (GM): It's like a soup can lid.
Ragnar: *Decipher Cat to the rescue!*
Metal Man (GM): Using Decipher on it?
Ragnar: *Yes. He meets the difficulty.*
Metal Man (GM): Ragnar hacks the lid. It peels open without a problem, or without ripping it open.
Dragoshi: "...Wow."
Sloan: "...Illian wasn't kidding."
Garrick Fy`aar pauses as he sees that, then looks to Ragnar.
Gibby: "Well I'll be."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...huh."
Dragoshi nods in approval.
Gibby: "Good kitty."
Ragnar: :D *Purr.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...alright then. Everyone inside."
Dragoshi lightly pats Ragnar on the head, making sure to be careful with his claws.
Gibby slips in.
Dragoshi then follows behind Gibby.
Metal Man (GM): Sloan leaps on out.
Ragnar: *He follows the group into the door, feeling proud.*
Metal Man (GM): In a flash, you're whole again. It's a bit of a shock, having to breathe and use physical effort to move again, but not much of one.
Garrick Fy`aar heads inside as the last person.
Gibby: "Ahhh... good ol' third dimension."
Metal Man (GM): You're in the darkened room. On the other side of the room is a sealed door. Metal, circular bulkhead. The controls to the device appear to be offline.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Jesus... I didn't even know this thing still existed..."
Sloan: "I'd hack this in a moment but... you're right. An 'I Win' Button has no satisfaction, and what if it causes someone else to erase us? It was supposed to be gone. Apparently Borne rebuilt it."
Garrick Fy`aar looks around for any other exits.
Sloan: "Much to my horror. We should blow it to bits when we leave."
Metal Man (GM): No other exits. The bulkhead is one-way; Borne foresaw that this room could be a... problem. However...
Gibby: "We just keep getting stuck, don't we?"
Metal Man (GM): The device happens to be the one generating the field.
Sloan: "Not precisely."
Metal Man (GM): Sloan takes out his stolen Time Cop Device.
Sloan: "I can warp anywhere... once... then all the alarms in a million miles will go off. Well, anywhere inside this field."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...really now..."
Gibby: "That doesn't sound very appealing."
Sloan: "Those fields are... exasperatingly thorough."
Dragoshi: "I... see. That's rather frightening, to say the least."
Sloan: "I can take care of myself, if you want me to be a distraction. After all... this."
Garrick Fy`aar: "We need to get the door open. I need to get to a console so I can get the shield down."
Metal Man (GM): He presses a button and turns into a soldier of Borne's, then another and he morphs into Garrick, then back to normal.
Gibby: "I suppose if there's no other way..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "If you can get out and get this door open, then we can get to work."
Sloan: "Right. I saw some genetic engineering wing, I think I'll warp there..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Be careful, Sloan..."
Sloan: "Something I should know?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Remember, there's clones of me. Ask me a question only the real me would know."
Ragnar: *He runs over to Sloan and bats his leg with a paw, Hasting him.*
Dragoshi: "Yeah... Garrick clones are out and about."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Go. Be quick."
Sloan: "Ah, right. 'Who is the most annoying man in the world?' Should do."
Garrick Fy`aar: "That'd be you."
Sloan: "DING DING DING! Now to go set off all the alarms and make them think it's me! ...I feel even faster. Thanks, mysterious kitty cat."
Metal Man (GM): He then morphs into what looks like Borne and warps away. And... now a small cinematic interruption so you see what is going on. First, the outside area, outside the dome... Outside the Base The base is under attack by Atlantean Puddle Jumpers (think futuristic tube shaped spaceships with NASTY antimatter warheads), GUN ships bearing Anthon's logo... Goa'uld Deathgliders with a slinky logo on them... It's basically a death zone out there for Borne's men. Meanwhile in the city, the Echidnacopters are harassing everything in sight. Down one of the streets marches some of Anthon's mechs, flanked by supersoldier robots. Borne's men run in terror as the GUN Soldier-like beings feel no pain and punch through solid concrete. Borne is in a room, somewhere, watching all of this.
Borne: "Hmph. They come here, thinking they can defeat me. But this is all a grand show, put on for nobody. I know what they're really up to. Trying to take my base, eh, Sloan? You won't last five minutes with what I--*COUGH HACK* urgh... *GHK*" *He spits up blood.* "...planned..."
Metal Man (GM): Back with Garrick and the Protectors The base lights flicker. Alarms go off everywhere.
Gibby: "The sound of success."
Garrick Fy`aar: "And alert... we'll have to move fast."
Dragoshi: "Aye."
Alarm: "ATTENTION: SLOAN HAS BEEN SPOTTED. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TRUST ANYONE. HE HAS TAKEN ON THE FORM OF ANYONE HE HAS SEEN TO BE NEAR THIS FACILITY. DEMAND MIND VERIFICATION OR SHOOT IMMEDIATELY."
Dragoshi: "Gonna have to be quick on our feet, really."
Alarm: "THE DEATHGUARDS HAVE BEEN DEPLOYED. ALL LOOSE PERSONNEL WILL BE SHOT. REPORT TO YOUR STATIONS IMMEDIATELY."
Metal Man (GM): The voice then is shot by a Zat blaster.
Gibby: "...I think they mean it."
Sloan: "BORNE IS A LOSER. ALL HAIL SLOAN, MASTER OF DISGUISE."
Metal Man (GM): You then see the door out open on its own.
Gibby: "HA! Well done, Sloan!"
Metal Man (GM): The two guards guarding it have their backs to you and are taken by surprise! Roll inits Order: Dragoshi 8, Sloan 5, Ragnar 5, Gibby 4, Garrick 3, Guards 0.
Guard: "What the hell? Questers! Questers in the facility! Shoot them!"
Guard 2: "This is what we have been preparing for! Kill them so we can become Deathguards!"
Dragoshi rushes the first guard, going to attempt to rush the first Guard, attempting to tear a nasty wound into him with his scythe.
Metal Man (GM): You hit. 2 over their AC.
Dragoshi: "That's Protectors to you."
Metal Man (GM): 40 damage after DR. The man reels. Sloan 5
Sloan: "I'm in your base, nuking your men! Ah hah hah hah hah!"
Metal Man (GM): You hear a violent explosion in another room. He's still at the PA somewhere in the base.
Guard: "That Sloan... why isn't he dead yet?"
Gibby: "I'm glad he's on our side."
Guard 2: "The Deathguards were sent to kill him! He will be soon..."
Ragnar: *The first guard gets an ice block around his face as the goddess shows up once more, with Ragnar apparently focusing to make her appear.*
Guard: "Argh! They aren't Questers! They're on the same team! And they're kicking our @#$es! This can't be happening!"
Gibby follows up on Ragnar's attack by running over to the guard and delivering a devastating upward slash.
Guard2: "We WILL be shot if we desert our post!"
Metal Man (GM): Hit, one over his AC. 35 after DR.
Garrick Fy`aar kneels and braces himself, firing a shot at the soldier they're focusing on. A blast of energy emits from the barrel.
Metal Man (GM): The man gets blasted by the gun and the laser. He takes 11 damage from the laser, then your gun rolls 2 over, so it deals the extra 5 damage and then an extra 10 for being 2 over. Then it negates part of his DR. 25 damage total after DR. The man's face is burned.
Ragnar: *Hiss.*
Guard: "Questers didn't shoot lasers in our faces!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Hit them harder. We need to keep moving."
Guard 2: "Sure they did, just not all at once."
Metal Man (GM): Guards
Guard: "You... you maniacs! You will leave this place!"
Metal Man (GM): He takes out a GUN machinegun and opens fire on Dragoshi. BAM... 15 damage.
Dragoshi: "Mmph..."
Guard 2: "Uh, yeah. You really ought to do more than just spray lasers everywhere."
Guard: "It took all I had to be able to pull the trigger!"
Guard 2: "Well, step on it!"
Metal Man (GM): Guard 2 turns on a grenade launcher and fires a blast at Dragoshi, Ragnar and Garrick! 15 damage to all of them.
Dragoshi: "Ergh... How annoying."
Metal Man (GM): Now, I forgot yet again that you guys should add STR to your damage.
Ragnar: *He's still standing! Tough little cat.*
Gibby: "You alright?"
Dragoshi: "Taken worse. Much worse."
Metal Man (GM): From this round and beyond, add STR to your damage. That will speed things up. Dragoshi 6 Guard 1 is nearly dead.
Ragnar: "Nyan!"
Metal Man (GM): He looks like he was hit by a truck.
Guard: "Urgh... they didn't prep me for this in Borne allegiance school..."
Dragoshi glares at the first guard, simply going to tear into him with another swing of his scythe.
Metal Man (GM): Currently STR adds to damage for both ranged and close range attacks. I planned to use a map but have been stupidly slow on making those. Dragoshi misses.
Sloan: "And who are these fellows in here?"
Metal Man (GM): You hear really loud laser beams annihilate the PA system. Hmmm.
Gibby: "Poor fools..."
Guard: "The Deathguards! They're here! Hooray!"
Guard2: "They execute any other guards they find alive, you fool! That they are here would mean we have failed!"
Guard 2: "We have to kill them or they'll kill us AND these... Protector people!"
Metal Man (GM): Ragnar: Yes, STR is added to damage, even on your magical attacks.
Ragnar: *He holds up a paw and fires a pair of Explode-loaded darts at both guards with his gun!*
Metal Man (GM): BOOMZ
Gibby: "Thank you, kitty. They were getting to be annoying."
Metal Man (GM): And... your main attack on top of that? Since you get to do that on top of the explosions.
Guard: "Ahhhhhh!!!!"
Metal Man (GM): Guard 1 violently is gibbed. Guard 2 is charred a bit.
Dragoshi: "Good show!"
Metal Man (GM): You may attack with your claws or something on top of this if you wish, or just call that a turn. Yup, init change noted.
Ragnar: *He seems kinda winded from the energy it took for that. He ends his turn.*
Gibby sees if he can finish up guard 2 with another sword slash.
Metal Man (GM): You hit him. No successes over his AC though. Add STR to damage, of course. He stands, still there.
Guard 2: "You'll have to do more than that!"
Gibby: "Well not me... but maybe this guy." *He points to Garrick.*
Garrick Fy`aar leaps over Gibby as he points at him, moving in close to the man to cut off his area of fire and grabs him in a lock, digging his dagger into the man's chest and slinging him over his knee, slamming him into the ground hard.
Metal Man (GM): Miss. Barely. He seems to have recognized your stance.
Guard 2: "Nice try, but Borne knows those moves too."
Metal Man (GM): Yes.
Garrick Fy`aar: "How nice. Goodbye."
Metal Man (GM): You may use your extra ability all the way until I announce the next turn, since, well... they are bouncy.
Garrick Fy`aar suddenly vanishes from sight, teleporting away. He makes to leave the fight and find a damn computer terminal. (Teleport)
Guard 2: "Dammit! The bounty on his head was worth three paychecks!"
Gibby: -_-; "He just left, didn't he..."
Metal Man (GM): Guard.
Dragoshi: "...Welp."
Guard 2: "I'm taking you down! The Deathguards won't kill me!"
Gibby: "Blah blah blah... he's like a broken record, this guy."
Metal Man (GM): He lunges with his own CQC, looking to stab Dragoshi in the gut with a spin. *IMPALE* 71 damage! Ow. The guard is winded.
Dragoshi goes to drop into a defensive stance in order to minimize the damage, eyes widening a little as he feels the blade go into his gut, groaning a little. (Shield for slight mitigation purposes?)
Metal Man (GM): Yes. You can do that. Still your turn, you're in front with Sloan gone.
Dragoshi groans as he actually stumbles back a little, taking a slight breath before he goes to lay into the winded Guard with a scythe swing to the side in retaliation.
Metal Man (GM): But he is fatigued. So that hits! Hooray my system is nifty! AHD? Oh, above hit thing. Not here. Just a normal hit.
Gibby tries to end this annoyance by giving the guard one more good thrashing with his sword.
Metal Man (GM): Hit, one over his AC. Not dead yet, but almost.
Gibby: "I admire his persistence..."
Guard 2: "This isn't a game! I die either way!"
Ragnar: *DESTROOOOOOOOOYYYYYYY.*
Ragnar: *71 damage from the cat's sudden atomic laser.*
Metal Man (GM): He stares for a moment, then is totally, utterly annihilated. His gun drops to the ground, unharmed.
Ragnar: "..." *Sneeze.*
Dragoshi: "...I hope you can do that again once we get to Borne."
Gibby: "Bless you..." *O_O;*
Ragnar: *He pulls a mushroom out of his tiny little item satchel and gives it to Dragoshi.*
Metal Man (GM): It has 2x More Accuracy (so +2 to hit) and +1 Added Hit damage (+10 damage if you get 2 over his AC)
Dragoshi nods in thanks to the cat as he takes the mushroom and eats it.
Metal Man (GM): I will go put laundry in the laundry machine, then continue with Garrick hacking things. You may discuss among yourselves. The first one was exploded. His gun is in pieces. This one dropped it as he was suddenly vaporized. Thus, the gun survived. It is a Borne-22 Model Laser Rifle.
Dragoshi: "If it's alright with you guys, do you mind if I take this guy's gun? It looks pretty solid."
Metal Man (GM): Semi-automatic.
Gibby: "Go for it. I'm a sword man anyway."
Dragoshi: "Alright." *He picks up the Borne-22 and looks it over, nodding.*
Ragnar: *He attempts to perch upon Dragoshi's shoulder.*
Dragoshi blinks, helping Ragnar up to his shoulder. "There ya go..."
Ragnar: *Purrrrrr.*
Gibby: "Awww..."
Dragoshi smiles a little, gently scritching behind the cat's ears, making sure to be careful with his claws.
Ragnar: *He leans into the scritching, taking a breather after his giant laser.*
Dragoshi takes a breather of his own, just relaxing a little. Getting shanked like that kinda sucks, even after bracing!
Metal Man (GM): Back. ty. In any case, we return, with Garrick warping out into a hallway as he has no exact coordinates. To the right is the sound and noise of the Death Guards killing everyone in sight. To the left is the genetics lab. And back the way you came is, back the way you came.
Garrick Fy`aar make sure the passage for the others is open before heading to the genetics lab. Best place to find a terminal is there, he figures... away from the Death Guards...
Metal Man (GM): It is open... you walk into the lab. The lab is not guarded. There are many tubes. But this isn't the stereotypical lab with misshapen clones in tubes. No. There is one clone in one main tube. It looks perfectly shaped. It just is a horrifying image. Borne's face, and appearance, adapted to the superior supersoldier genes from Garrick. There is a computer terminal that is open that probably could be hacked to get at the field.. ..Or you could try to destroy the clone... Not enough time for both, seemingly.
Garrick Fy`aar glances between the two... going for the field, Backup would help with the clones... He jacks his personal computer into the terminal, attempting to find the controls for the field and power it down...
Metal Man (GM): You see that you will have to trip the "master alarm" to do so. Do you proceed?
Garrick Fy`aar frowns, keying in his comm unit toward the others. "Guys. I'm in the genetics lab. Out the door and left down the hallway. Get in here quick."
Metal Man (GM): The others, only now having killed the guy, hear this.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Things are about to get loud."
Ragnar: *He springs down and starts running.*
Garrick Fy`aar takes a deep breath... and does so.
Metal Man (GM): They have only a few moments before the Death Guards close in on their position and that hallway, from your vantage point.
Gibby: "Coming." *He follows after Ragnar.*
Garrick Fy`aar makes to bring down the shield.
Metal Man (GM): You all run down the hall and into the room... the Deathguards are coming. There is a door, however, one of you could shut it. Or try something else...
Ragnar: *Position to slam the door shut!*
Metal Man (GM): The shield protocol has further things tied into it. It appears to be tied into the pod as well. Do you still go and turn it off? Or, you can try to take more time to avoid activating the pod...
Dragoshi goes to assist in shuttin' that thar door.
Metal Man (GM): The door slams shut. You hear loud lasers, then nothing.
Ragnar: *Is the pod filled with liquid?*
Garrick Fy`aar tries to take his time so he can get around the pod's activation system...
Metal Man (GM): The pod is filled with Liquid, as well as Borne... well, a fusion of him with Garrick's sort of stronger body. Note that the pod is hooked up to many sensors.
Gibby: "Gah... creepy."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Yeah, get a load of that..."
Metal Man (GM): Trying to shock it would probably make a mess and may even activate it.
Dragoshi: "That's... nasty, yes."
Ragnar: "Mew! Mrow!" *He forms an ice crystal, bouncing up and down and looking at the tube.*
Dragoshi: "Best not to do anything rash with it..."
Metal Man (GM): Signs note something about "TUBE MAY SUDDENLY ACTIVATE IF DISTURBED."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Don't break anything, don't touch it... anything you do might activate it and set him free."
Gibby steps away from the tube.
Ragnar: "..." *Right, then, over to the door to reinforce it.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Cover the door. It'll take time for me to get the shield down."
Metal Man (GM): The door is further reinforced. Slamming is heard. You hear a voice on the other end.
Gibby: "Not too much I hope."
???: "Surrender. The Deathguard know no match."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...we're just guards trying to defend our post! We didn't move! We don't wanna die! Go away!"
???: "Our orders are to kill all guards who have not neutralized the enemy."
Metal Man (GM): *SLAMMMMM* The door begins to crack as part of a finger pokes through it.
Garrick Fy`aar: "The enemy didn't come in he--oh hell, that didn't work." *He keeps typing.*
Gibby: "YIKES! Garrick, time?!"
???: "Guards are expendable. All of them are."
Ragnar: *Freeze that finger!*
???: "I have killed one hundred and--... you are really foolish."
Garrick Fy`aar tries to estimate how long this is gonna take.
Metal Man (GM): To avoid all failsafes... 15 minutes. To avoid the pod... 5. You have no clue what else Borne rigged to this for the other failsafes.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Fifteen minutes if we don't want that guuy waking up."
Gibby: "Ooooh that's a lot of time..."
???: "Fourteen more than you have."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I can get it done in five if I just brute force it."
Metal Man (GM): *SLAMMMMM.*
Gibby: "Quiet, you."
Metal Man (GM): The entire door buckles inwards, cracking the walls.
Gibby: "You may have to."
Ragnar: *He makes a small ice cylinder, motioning towards the tube.*
Metal Man (GM): Two fingers have poked through. They begin ripping at the door.
Garrick Fy`aar: "If we wake up this Bornrick clone, it might be worse than that guy out there."
??2: "What is in there?"
Garrick Fy`aar: "And we're stuck in here with him..."
Gibby looks to see if the rip is large enough to throw something at them.
???: "The deathcorders of the men they killed say that they are... Protectors..."
Metal Man (GM): Yes. It is. There's a lot of heavy lab equipment laying around.
Gibby: "Get ready to duck, people!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "C'mon, c'mon..."
??2: "This does not make sense."
Dragoshi nods, quickly going to take cover.
???: "We must break in and kill them."
Gibby takes out his grenade and throws it through the hole.
Ragnar: *Cover!*
??2: "Affirmative."
Metal Man (GM): *BONK.*
???: "Grena--"
Metal Man (GM): *BOOM.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Ragnar! Ice the door shut!"
???: "...de."
Gibby: "HA! Got 'em!"
Metal Man (GM): You hear them... standing up slowly.
Gibby: "...or not."
??2: "That was imbecilic."
Ragnar: *Freeze freeze freeze* *D:*
Gibby: *Le sigh.*
???: "Destroy the door."
Metal Man (GM): *SLAMMMMMM* Part of the wall falls off, showing a crack.
???: "We will not be stopped. You will die."
Gibby: "Cover the door in ice! Slow them down!"
Metal Man (GM): You see one of them trying to poke a phase pistol in the hole!!!
???: "I'll melt this pistol just to make you all die."
Garrick Fy`aar types faster.
Ragnar: *Position the gun out of the hole!*
Metal Man (GM): The pistol opens fire, melting a portion of the room and moving towards... *FWOOOP.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "What's the call guys, this isn't going well!"
Metal Man (GM): The gun lands in Gibby's hands.
Gibby: "Got it!"
???: "Pah. Annoying."
Dragoshi: "...Well now!"
Metal Man (GM): The gun cannot be fired for risk of setting you on fire. On the other hand, that's one less gun in their hands.
Gibby: "Best to keep this away from them."
Metal Man (GM): The program has passed the deadline for brute force. You can either unlock immediately or go for all failsafes.
??2: "You should know better that that. Watch this."
Metal Man (GM): You hear the characteristic laser blast.
Dragoshi: "...Oh boy."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I can do it now if we wake up the clone!"
Metal Man (GM): The entire door glows red hot.
Ragnar: *Freeze!*
Gibby: "DOITDOITDOITDOITDOIT!"
Metal Man (GM): *ANTIPODE BOOOOOM* Cold + Hot = BOOM Pieces of the door fly everywhere, violently threatening everybody. AGI checks. A 4 is enough to pass. The guards get door embedded in them.
Gibby: "Close one."
Dragoshi: "That could have sucked, yes."
Garrick Fy`aar immediately leaps away, but lunges back to the computer. He hopes that didn't blow the console OR wake the clone...
Deathguard: "Look what they did to your face, Deathguard 2."
Metal Man (GM): Neither has been bothered. It seems to have mostly harmed your nerves.
Garrick Fy`aar: "What's the call, guys?! Clone or not clone! I need an answer here!"
Gibby: "I reeeeeally think we should finish up, Garrick. NOW!"
Deathguard 2: "My call is... melted morons."
Dragoshi: "Yeah, unfortunately, we're pressed for time here, so to hell with precision."
Deathguard 2: "Your call is up."
Garrick Fy`aar: "FINE!"
Metal Man (GM): He opens fire... ... nothing happens.
Dragoshi: "...Nevermind."
Metal Man (GM): His gun explodes in his face.
Gibby: "..."
Ragnar: "..." *:D!*
Dragoshi: "...Belay that, Garrick. It seems we miiiight have a few moments to spare."
Metal Man (GM): Deathguard 2 falls over. There was iced door in his gun.
Garrick Fy`aar was in the middle of slapping his hands together to activate his 'ohshit' idea... but he pauses...
Metal Man (GM): Deathguard 1 then goes to walk towards you.
Gibby: "Talk about a lucky break."
Dragoshi: "One of 'em's down! The other's still up..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "HOLD HIM BACK!"
Metal Man (GM): He is unarmed... in a wrestling stance.
Dragoshi: "Be on your toes, guys!"
Deathguard: "I will crush you."
Gibby: "Uhh... any takers?"
Ragnar: *Position left Deathguard leg three feet away from them.*
Metal Man (GM): He walks towards Ragnar, being mostly intending on death. He and Ragnar embrace in fighting. Roll STR check, Ragnar.
Garrick Fy`aar goes back to typing. He's in the main server without a password... if he brute forces his way in with a jack, he'll set things off... he tries to back door as fast as he can.
Dragoshi levels the Borne-22 model at the Deathguard, attempting to shoot him while he's busy cat-wrestling!
Metal Man (GM): He kicks Ragnar like a football. He flies over your heads and into the wall behind you, taking 17 damage.
Ragnar: *Crunch.*
Deathguard: "Out of my way."
Gibby: "Ooooo..."
Metal Man (GM): He then walks towards Dragoshi.
Dragoshi: "Like hell."
Garrick Fy`aar: "COME ON!"
Metal Man (GM): You may attack him, Dragoshi.
Dragoshi: *BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM.*
Metal Man (GM): The tech is 2/3 done now.
Gibby: "Do whatever you can to slow him down!"
Garrick Fy`aar: "Five more minutes! I just need five more minutes!"
Metal Man (GM): Yes, Dragoshi, roll it. Actually, not so much. 5 over. You shoot him a lot. He just acts like you tickled him or something. Yes. 2 over, deal 10 more damage. Yes, 5 base damage too, and add in STR.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Where the FUCK IS SLOAN!?!"
Gibby: "Good question."
Dragoshi: "A little help here, Gibby?"
Gibby: "You got it."
Deathguard: "Give me your best shot."
Metal Man (GM): Gibby can now attack him.
Ragnar: *Aimed shot with Added Target at the Deathguard's eyes, Disfigure added on.*
Garrick Fy`aar is in the shield systems now. He's almost there. He just needs to get past the encryption software to get at the main control systems... "Almost there, almost there... just a bit more..."
Metal Man (GM): Roll for that one, Ragnar? AGI, I believe?
Gibby charges towards the Dethguard and tries to drive it back with a running headbutt to the chest.
Metal Man (GM): He is hit. Then hit again.
Ragnar: *NEEDLES IN YOUR EYES.*
Metal Man (GM): He stands up again... but he cannot see.
Deathguard: "This... is problematic."
Metal Man (GM): He punches a huge hole in a wall, where, none of you are. Then he swings at the air.
Gibby gestures for everybody to be quiet.
Dragoshi nods.
Ragnar: *Crouch.*
Garrick Fy`aar keeps typing, having already figured that out...
Metal Man (GM): He looks around some more, slowly stepping around. He turns, hearing the typing, but it is too late. The field is down. And on top of that, somebody set off a bomb somewhere else. The entire place smells as if it is on fire.
Garrick Fy`aar throws up his hands!
Metal Man (GM): Alarms go off all over the place as you hear the attackers from outside invading the base. *BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM BOOM BOOM.*
Gibby: "WOO! Good show, Garrick!"
Garrick Fy`aar immediately goes into deactivating the safeguards on the clone tube. He wants to kill this thing without waking it up.
Dragoshi: "Wonderful work, Garrick!"
Garrick Fy`aar jerks his thumb toward the tube.
Deathguard: "Borne, I have failed you."
Metal Man (GM): The Deathguard takes out a sword and impales himself.
Dragoshi: "...That saved me the trouble of doing anything. Wonderful."
Metal Man (GM): ...The sword beams out a light of some kind.
Gibby: "Problem solved."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Oh, thank God..."
Metal Man (GM): You begin working on the tube. But then you hear something in the hallway behind you.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Just a few more minutes, guys... I can take out this clone and we can go Borne hunting."
Metal Man (GM): *Ta-CHUNK, Ta-CHUNK, Ta-CHUNK.*
Ragnar: *Wall over where the door was?*
Metal Man (GM): *BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM.*
Gibby: "As long as there aren't anymore Deathguards."
Dragoshi glances behind him checking to see what it is
Metal Man (GM): You see...
Gibby turns.
Metal Man (GM): Borne, in his mech. He has a sight over his eye. He just aimed a missile right at your face.
Dragoshi: "...One of those days, I see."
Gibby: "...uhhhh..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "What is it, guys?!"
Metal Man (GM): *BOOOOOMF.*
Gibby: "Mommy."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick would hear everyone but him violently exploding.
Ragnar: *SCREEEEECH.*
Garrick Fy`aar would turn for the first time...
Dragoshi just tries to brace because OH GOD (Shield if possible because shit)
Metal Man (GM): 75 damage to all hit by the violent explosion. Borne's mech continues to close.
Gibby: "Ow... ow... ow..."
Dragoshi: "Urgh..."
Borne: "There are no stupid speeches this time. Just the symphony of your death rattles."
Garrick Fy`aar: "...Metal Gear..."
Metal Man (GM): Yes, Dragoshi. He flexes the arms on the cockpit, and it levels two miniguns on all of you.
Borne: "DIE.."
Gibby: "Holy-"
Ragnar: *Dive behind the walls!*
Gibby uses his shield this time.
Dragoshi: *DIVE FOR COVER. AND SHIELD MAYBE. GOOD LORD.*
Garrick Fy`aar immediately dives for cover as well.
Metal Man (GM): The cover'd attacks deflect into hm, though it seems not to effect him much. Those hit take another 50 damage, +10 for every 2 over their AC. You now have two choices... Stay and disable the clone for good and fight Borne, or flee.
Garrick Fy`aar: *Comm* "ILLIAN!! WE NEED BACKUP NOW!"
Gibby: "ASAP!"
Illian MacGregor: "The area is overrun with his men! It's only a half chance we can actually hold our ground!"
Dragoshi: *Comms* "If anyone else can send some backup as well that would be REALLY FANTASTIC!. ...Egh..."
Illian MacGregor: "I'm sending what I can!"
Metal Man (GM): Illian's soldiers show up. The clone... oh dear. That thing is so horridly protected it'd take 40 minutes!
Dragoshi actually looks a little tense, not really happy about this turn of events...
Garrick Fy`aar is looking... really hurt...
Gibby offers Garrick a mushroom.
Garrick Fy`aar: "I... don't think I can take the clone out and have us all survive..."
Metal Man (GM): Illian's soldiers start getting their butts kicked by Borne's psychotic mech.
Gibby: "It's not much, but it's something."
Garrick Fy`aar takes it with a nod and swallows it, nodding a thanks...
Borne: "Miserable pawns. You will all follow your master into the grave!"
Metal Man (GM): *BBBBBBLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM.*
Ragnar: *Um... uh... Ice under one of the mechfeet so it slips!*
Metal Man (GM): It moves and slips a bit... hmmm...
Ragnar: *Position to shove it harder!*
Metal Man (GM): It regains balance. You shove it even harder; it smashes into the wall.
Garrick Fy`aar: "...we can just nuke the clone, hope it dies before it aserts itself..."
Metal Man (GM): The wall took most of the damage there. Borne's mech stands up, now aiming at Ragnar.
Ragnar frost over the cockpit!
Gibby: "Run, kitty!"
Borne: "You @#$%ed with the wrong Mad Man!"
Metal Man (GM): It starts running at Ragnar, as the cockpit frosts over. It runs into range, but then you see something else run in.
Garrick Fy`aar takes three steps, grabbing Ragnar and trying to teleport out of the way.
Ragnar: *He casually steps to the side and makes another icy patch.*
Dragoshi hurls a grenade at Borne, aiming at his leg as he goes to rush Ragnar!
Gibby: "Frost... heat! We need something hot aimed at the cockpit."
Metal Man (GM): Garrick shoves Ragnar aside, the grenade explodes, and then the mech smashes into the wall again.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Gotcha covered!"
Metal Man (GM): ...And there is Marley as well, surrounded by magical energy.
Marley: "It's about time I got here!"
Ragnar: *Kaff* =.=
Garrick Fy`aar pulls his pistol as well, firing a laser that makes to melt into it from behind.
Dragoshi: "...Good on ya, man."
Gibby: "Welcome to the battle, Marley."
Garrick Fy`aar: "C'mon, cat... let's do it on purpose this time."
Dragoshi: "There's enough Borne to go around here!"
Metal Man (GM): Marley leaps up and punches the mech so hard his fist goes through it. Then the front of the mech busts open from the heat.
Gibby: "Awesome!"
Metal Man (GM): The mech slowly stands up on its feet, as Borne eyes you with the aiming reticule. He then looks to the clone and gets a smirk on his face. Nah, this is semi-freeformish... the real battle is yet to begin.
Borne: "You want to destroy my new body. There's just one problem. I can use this one to hold you off just long enough to activate it!"
Dragoshi: "Not if we get rid of it first!"
Metal Man (GM): He leaps off as his mech explodes, then leaps atop the pod as it starts sinking down into the floor on an elevator.
Ragnar: *Destroy Beam at the head of the clone.*
Ragnar: *If this uses up the last of his HP to fuel it, well, que sera sera.*
Metal Man (GM): Ah, belay the destroy beam, he moved out of range. You have a choice here... multiple choices.
Marley: "Let me kill him. You hack the computer."
Metal Man (GM): Note that Marley failed the last time he tried this sort of thing...
Garrick Fy`aar: "It'll take too long! You can't last for forty minutes!"
Metal Man (GM): Sloan then appears.
Dragoshi: "At least let us try and help!"
Ragnar: *He limps to the computer. Difficulty on it?*
Dragoshi: "...Ah, there you are, Sloan."
Sloan: "Let ME kill him."
Metal Man (GM): Computer difficulty: 5.
Garrick Fy`aar: "Who is the most annoying person ever!"
Sloan: "...Ah, so I don't have to kill you. Good."
Gibby: "Perhaps the both of you could work together."
Marley: "Work with HM?"
Gibby: "You share the same goal."
Sloan: "I guess we could both kill him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "It's either that or we all die!"
Ragnar: *He limps back, looking shakily down the hole.*
Dragoshi: "You didn't exactly succeed the last time you took Borne on alone."
Marley: "...You make a compelling point..."
Garrick Fy`aar: "Besides, I want this guy too!"
Gibby: "Times like these make for strange bedfellows."
Dragoshi: "Aye. We all want a piece of this jerk."
Ragnar: "MROWR!" D:
Dragoshi: "And I'm sure there's more than enough of him to go around, no?"
Sloan: "..." *He gets a grin on his face.* "Then you should help us make sure he is dead... if you can survive fighting him, that is."
Garrick Fy`aar pauses... he's really hurt... and not in a prime position to be fighting like he used to...
Marley: "No, let us handle it! You don't need to sacrifice yourselves for our old business. You just... hack up here!"
Dragoshi: "Garrick should at least stay back here to finish up, yes."
Metal Man (GM): You took about half damage. The guns pierced everything.
Sloan: "I can't guarantee him dying without Garrick fighting him, though... Something tells me he might escape."
Marley: "Nonsense!"
Gibby: "I'll stay with Garrick. He's not doing too well, and if someone were to attack, I'd like to protect him."
Garrick Fy`aar: "I'll be fine, Gibby. Go. All of you. I'll connect to the ship and track for movement or warps. Take him."
Gibby: "You sure?"
Sloan: "Up to you." *He leaps down the hole.*
Garrick Fy`aar: "Go."
Gibby hesitates.
Marley: "I will kill that Borne! I will! He will DIE!"
Gibby: "...Alright."
Metal Man (GM): He leaps into the pit.
Gibby heads with the others. "Don't die on me, Garrick."
Dragoshi sighs, taking out his Illiantek Recovery Vial, drinking it as he goes to follow behind Sloan and Marley, heading into the pit.
Ragnar: *He starts limping along with the others, looking like he's pretty much about to die.*
Garrick Fy`aar growls as he gets back to the computer and starts trying to hack it as best he can.
Metal Man (GM): You are now in a pit, moving in an underground aquifer on an elevator with the pod. The pod is force-fielded, and Borne stands atop it, in his Mad Man garb.
Garrick Fy`aar: *Comm* "Red Text, link up with me. Connect ship's sensors to my personal panel. If anything gets out of this area, I wanna know about it."
Red Text: "Done. I'll be watching."
Garrick Fy`aar: *Comm* "I could also use a link up with the processors on the ship. Anything that can help me hack this faster."
Red Text: "I'll help as much as I can."
Metal Man (GM): Even with the help... the guys down there will have to prevent Borne himself from lasting too long. Somehow, he is trying to protect it himself. Borne looks to those facing him down on the elevator, as he coughs some more blood.
Borne: "Your selfish goals will do nothing but kill everyone on this planet. I am the only one who holds my father at bay. While you fight me, he plots your deaths."
Dragoshi: "And why should we believe you? You're not exactly that much better of a choice now, are you?"
Borne: "What do you think Jack is going to do?"
Dragoshi: "...Always loops back to him, doesn't it?" *He lets out an irritated hiss.*
Borne: "But it's a valid point! You kill me, he will kill all of you like nothing! Is that what you want?"
Garrick Fy`aar: *Comm* "Red Text, get a lock on the cat and get him to a medical bay... he's out like a light. He did good, he's got my recommendation."
Red Text: "We should be able to piece him back together without much issue. He isn't that badly wounded."
Dragoshi: "Yes, but again. Not really givin' much of anyone a choice here."
Metal Man (GM): Ragnar is taken to be healed, he'll be up next session, good as new.
Borne: "Think, with your brain! I need this body..."
Metal Man (GM): He shows his own body, full of cracks.
Borne: "I will die otherwise, and without it... nothing! Nothing will stop him! He killed the Arbiter with his staff! You are tissue paper to him."
Dragoshi: "Such a pain everything here is, I swear."
Borne: "He has an entire fleet of gold plated death ships!"
Dragoshi: "If it isn't ridiculous favor chains then it's this sort of malarkey."
Borne: "He could buy and sell six times your value in mercenaries to kill you! This body was meant to be the one which would kill him..."
Dragoshi: "He could do this or he could do that... Now tell me."
Borne: "...But you would doom yourselves!"
Dragoshi: "If he could do all that. Then why hasn't he done so already"
Gibby: "...YEAH!"
Dragoshi crosses his arms.
Gibby crosses his arms as well.
Borne: "I had been bluffing him. The clones of Garrick were going to do it. I had stolen Time Cop tech. He wouldn't want to cross me. I did defeat him, once, with the Questers! He was too lazy."
Dragoshi: "...Hmm."
Borne: "You kill me for him, though? What do you think he is going to do? That's so easy even he will get up and take the whole planet."
Dragoshi: "Why would I do that wretch any more favors. I never meant to help him in the first place and honestly."
Borne: "No... you... you tell me what makes you want me dead so much and we settle this here and now!"
Marley: "You stole my country and allied with demons!"
Dragoshi: "...Tch. To be frank, I loathe Jack for more."
Borne: "You were a tyrannical maniac who gave Jack his power to begin with!"
Dragoshi: "Far, far more."
Marley: "But... you gave Sloan his power."
Sloan: "Don't insult me, I'm not the power-hungry maniac."
Dragoshi: "...Neither of you have a good track record with this sort of thing, do you?"
Garrick Fy`aar: *Keep talking, more talking.*
Borne: "Sloan is on your side. Jack is not!"
Dragoshi: "...There's that too, really."
Marley: "I want Jack dead too. But GUN is mine!"
Dragoshi: "But, you know."
Borne: "You corruptly inherited it from your father!"
Marley: "So what?"
Borne: "The people want ME... you can kill me all you want. I won't be forgotten."
Sloan: "These are all elegant talking points... but if we can kill you, we can kill him. You killed him, after all."
Borne: "...Damn you, Sloan! Always betraying me!"
Gibby nods in agreement.
Dragoshi: "...You do bring up a good point. Add to it I'm sure we could make use of this. All of this. Aside from the cloning."
Gibby: "We would find a way."
Dragoshi: "I guess? Shrug."
Sloan: "It's my best skill. You picked me for it, remember? How I betrayed the other people?"
Borne: "My mistakes are staring me in the face. If I were a fool I'd drop off to my death and let you end my era as it seems it should be. But I was not revived to depose that vile Anthon Tark just to be defeated by a handful of Jack sycophants! MAD MEN, FOREVER!"
Dragoshi: "..."
Metal Man (GM): BOSS BATTLE: FINAL BORNE FURY
Dragoshi actually snarls in response to that comment.
Metal Man (GM): ...we can pause, or continue, you guyses choice. Eheh. This will be a pretty involved battle, and it is a bit late for me too. Not super late but...
Dragoshi: "You did not just call me that! That's it, you are through!"
Metal Man (GM): This would probably be a long one. Even with your help, Borne is basically Tough Man. Marley and Sloan aren't so much in his class as a step below him. I think it shall be good to pause, I need to make sure their stats are in order.
